'Rainbow Fentanyl' seized in Portland, drug spreading on West Coast: officials
[FoxNews] A bag of the more potent powdered fentanyl was confiscated from a home in Portland, and authorities are warning that the drug could be making its way across the West Coast.

Deputies discovered body armor, $5,000 in cash, nine guns of which some were stolen and drugs. The drugs including meth, heroin, 800 pills of fentanyl and four grams of multi-colored, powdered fentanyl, often called "rainbow fentanyl."

"We are partnering with Multnomah County health departments to sound the alarm," Special Investigation Unit Sergeant Matt Ferguson said in a statement.

Afghanistan
Islamic Emirate Denies Detention of Its Forces in Panjshir
[ToloNews] Local officials in Panjshir province denied the reports that Islamic Emirate forces have been detained by the Resistance® Front in the province.

The provincial governor’s front man, Abubakar Sediqqi, confirmed that a number of rockets hit some areas of Dara district but denied casualties to Islamic Emirate forces and the fall of a village to the Resistant Front.

"This is an absolutely inaccurate allegation. The forces of the Islamic Emirate are settled in all districts of Panjshir. Last night a number of rockets were fired by the opposition forces which didn’t cause any casualties," he said.

Earlier, the Resistance® Front published some videos and claimed that dozens of the Islamic Emirate were killed and dozens of others were arrested by its forces.

The videos were published by Sebghat Ahmadi, a front man for the Resistant Front.

"Even if the number of the government’s armed opposition is less and they have a limited geographic area, there should be negotiations with them,’ said Barna Salehi, a political analyst.

"The only solution for Afghanistan is that all conflictive parties should sit together and make a decision on Afghanistan’s fate," said Barna Salehi, a political analyst.

There have been many reports earlier about the armed conflicts in Panjshir, but the Islamic Emirate has denied them.
The Afghan Digest’s Daily Evacuation Brief adds:
LAST 24 HOURS
Presumably in response to the 1-year anniversary of Taliban
...Arabic for students...
rule, fighting broke out across the North as Resistance® forces attempted to remind the world that an active resistance exists. Panjshir witnessed the bulk of the fighting, and most incidents appear to have been offensive actions taken by the NRF against Taliban positions. At the end of the day, the NRF announced it had liberated seven villages from Taliban control and were continuing their advances toward larger Taliban bases. A source allied with the Resistance® said the actions represent the opening of a campaign to liberate Panjshir but was skeptical that the offensive could be maintained for long. The force ratio in Panjshir was last estimated to stand at 23:1 in favor of the Taliban, and the NRF is hampered by a lack of light/heavy transport.
I would give you the Conflict Tracker table of information form the link, dear Reader — it has details about each of the encounters in the region over the past twenty-four hours, but it’s an image, and I don’t know how to get those into a Rantburg article. Always another learning curve to climb! ;-) The key datum for our purposes is that the NRF killed five Talibs and took 40 prisoner in the Panjshir’s Arezoo Valley. Possibly that’s what Talib frontman Abubakar Sediqqi is denying.

Gunmen kill one soldier in ambush attack in Somalia
[ShabelleMedia] Armed militias attacked a convoy of Somali forces traveling in the vicinity of Guri’el, a town in Galgadud town under Galmudug

state.

The ambush sparked a confrontation that caused various casualties.

Residents said at least one Somali soldier was killed in the attack, while two others were maimed.

The assailants behind the attack expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, and the government forces conducted an investigation into the incident.

This attack is coming, while in recent times the armed forces have been conducting large-scale operations in areas of the Hiraan region in the center of the country.

Libyan police detain dozens of migrants in fresh crackdown migrants
[AlAhram] Authorities in western Libya said they rounded up dozens of migrants colonists Monday in the capital of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, in the latest crackdown on migrants colonists in the conflict-ridden country.

Security forces raided migrant dwellings in Tripoli's Airport Road area and detained ``many'' migrants colonists, according to a police statement.

The statement did not say how many migrants colonists were detained but attached images showed several dozen migrants colonists sitting on the ground in an open area surrounded by armed forces in uniform.

It said the raids early Monday came in response to an increase in crimes in the area, including prostitution, robbery and drug trafficking. The statement blamed migrants colonists for the alleged crimes without offering evidence supporting the claim.

The statement said legal measures were taken against the migrants colonists without elaborating on what type of measures. The migrants colonists were likely taken to detention centres in Tripoli, places that rights activist muppets say are rife with abuse and where migrants colonists are kept in miserable conditions.

A front man for the Tripoli-based government did not answer calls seeking comment.

The raids were the latest in an ongoing crackdown on migrants colonists in Libya. The country has in recent years emerged as the dominant transit point for migrants colonists fleeing war and poverty in Africa and the Middle East trying to reach Europe.

Over the weekend, a vehicle hit two migrants colonists working as garbage collectors in the Airport Road area. The migrants colonists, who were working for the government-run Tripoli Public Services, died and were buried Sunday in a funeral attended by dozens of other migrants colonists, according to Tarik Lamloum, a Libyan activist muppet working with the Belaady Organization for Human Rights.

He said Monday's crackdown was a ``cover-up'' for the killing of the two migrants colonists over the weekend. He said a Libyan man hit them with his vehicle and fled and called for authorities to open an investigation and track down the suspect.

``The raids are a propaganda campaign,'' Lamloum said. ``Most migrants colonists in the area are workers in workshops and farms, not criminals as they say.''

Last year, security forces detained over 5,000 migrants colonists, including many women and kiddies, in a section of Tripoli in what authorities described as a security campaign against illegal migration and drug trafficking.

The U.N. decried the clampdown, which involved harassing migrants colonists at their homes, beatings and shootings.

Libya plunged into chaos following a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
-backed uprising that toppled and killed longtime autocrat Muammar Qadaffy
...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...
in 2011.

Traffickers have exploited the chaos and often pack desperate families into ill-equipped rubber or wooden boats that stall and founder along the perilous Central Mediterranean route.

Thousands have drowned along the way. Others were intercepted and returned to Libya. Those returned to shore have been taken to government-run detention centers, where they are often abused and extorted for ransom under the very nose of U.N. officials.

Cote d' Ivoire Soldiers Charged as Mercenaries In Mali
[All Africa] Soldiers from Cote d'Ivoire who were reportedly deployed as reinforcements to the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
peacekeeping mission in Mali, MINUSMA, were held in jug for over a month, accused of being mercenaries.

The Ivorian government says they were unfairly detained, and that their role was well-known to Mali officials, who said the soldiers did not have the supporting documents indicating the reasons for their presence in the country. Cote d'Ivoire has been negotiating with the Mali junta for their release, denying the accusations. Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé is acting as a mediator between the two states.

As part of the agreement, Mali is reportedly calling on Cote d'Ivoire to hand over Mali citizens arrested there. However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
Abidjan authorities have refused to acknowledge responsibility, and will not hand over wanted persons. According to judicial sources, the charges against the 49 Ivorians include attempting to undermine state security.

The UN's peacekeeping mission in Mali had earlier acknowledged there were "dysfunctions" that preceded a row with the Mali authorities, sparked by the arrival of Ivorian troops at Bamako airport in early August 2022.

Mali: Jihadist group claims to have killed four Russian Wagner group mercenaries
[DW] Al Qaeda's affiliate in Mali claimed it has killed four mercenaries from Russia's private military Wagner group in festivities over the weekend.

An affiliate of Al Qaeda in Mali claimed on Monday to have killed four mercenaries from Russia's private military firm Wagner Group in an ambush around Bandiagara in central Mali.

The media wing of Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal Moslemeen (JNIM), said in a statement its fighters clashed with the mercenaries on Saturday in Mopti region, according to a translation by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist statements.

Two local officials confirmed to the AFP news agency that four Russians were killed by jihadists in the Bandiagara region over the weekend. A hospital source in the region also confirmed the "death in combat of four Russians."

Their deployment was a key factor in prompting La Belle France, Mali's former colonial power and traditional ally, to pull its military forces out of the country.

The Russian government has acknowledged Wagner personnel are in Mali but the Malian government has described them as instructors from the Russian military rather then private security contractors.

Europe
Greek police find 38 Syrian migrants on islet
[Rudaw] Greek police said Monday they had found a 38-strong group of Syrian migrants colonists reported stranded for several days on an islet in the Evros border river.

NGOs and Greek media reported there was a dead child among the group, which police did not confirm.

"Following new information and extensive investigation a group of illegal immigrants colonists who say they are Syrian has been found, including nine women and seven children," Greek police stated.

The statement said the group, who included a pregnant woman, had been located "some four kilometres (2.5 miles) from the point initially declared which was outside Greek territory".

Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi said the migrants colonists "were found on a boat four kilometres south of the Ottoman Turkish islet". He said they appeared to be in good health and added the pregnant woman had been taken to hospital.

NGOs and local media had earlier reported that dozens of people had been trapped on the island on the northern border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
for several days with neither country immediately assuming responsibility for them.

On Saturday, the UN refugee agency UNHCR tweeted: "We continue to be gravely concerned for the safety and wellbeing of some 40 people allegedly stranded on an islet at the Greece-Turkiye border.

"According to reports received a child has tragically already died. Unless urgent action is taken, we fear further lives remain at stake."

Mitarachi wrote on Twitter on Sunday: "we conducted repeated searches, with suitable technical means, without detecting any human presence in the islet.

"It has been confirmed that this is a point outside Greek territory so immediately we notified Ottoman Turkish authorities."

Following "published articles about the presence of migrants colonists on an islet in Evros", Greek police said they had informed Ottoman Turkish border authorities about the case "twice" in recent days.

Greece has repeatedly been accused of illegally turning migrants colonists back to Turkey at Evros and in the Aegean Sea, accusations which Athens denies.

Insurgents suspected of landmine attack targeting rubber farmers in Deep South
[BenarNews] Explosions from landmines killed a soldier and injured six coppers and four civilians in Thailand’s troubled Deep South on Monday, including a farmer who lost both her legs in the twin attack at a rubber plantation, authorities said.

About an hour after the first blast early in the morning in Sungai Padi, a district of Narathiwat province, a second landmine went kaboom! as members of a bomb squad scoured the plantation in response to the earlier explosion. The blast killed a soldier and maimed at least six coppers. The injuries to the police were non-life threatening, officials said.

Thai officials and residents also said that rubber farmer Prathum Nakthong, 55, was gravely injured in the first explosion when she stepped on a landmine about 500 meters from her house in Kok Ko, one of the communities in Tambon To Deng, a village cluster in the district.

Turkish airstrike in north Syria kills at least 11: Reports
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in northern Syria on Tuesday near its border killing at least 11 people, including Syrian government soldiers, an opposition war monitor and a Kurdish media outlet said.

The attack happened just west of the northern town of Kobani and comes amid tensions in northern Syria between US-backed Kurdish fighters and Turkey-backed opposition button men.

There was no immediate official comment from Syria but the pro-government Sham FM radio station said a Ottoman Turkish drone attacked a Syrian military position which led to the ``martyrdom and injury of several Syrian soldiers.''

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory, an opposition war monitor, said the Ottoman Turkish airstrike killed 11 people, adding that it was not immediately clear if they were all Syrian soldiers. It said eight people were also maimed.

Hawar News, the news agency for the semi-autonomous Kurdish areas in Syria, reported that 16 Syrian soldiers were killed, while another Kurdish news agency, North Press Agency, said 22 soldiers were killed.

Discrepancies in casualty figures immediately after attacks are not uncommon in Syria.

Turkey's defense ministry said Tuesday that 13 suspected Kurdish holy warriors were killed after Ottoman Turkish artillery retaliated against a deadly attack on a Ottoman Turkish border post near the town of Birecik in the border province of Sanliurfa. The ministry said operations in the region were continuing.

Provincial Gov. Salih Ayhan told Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency that a soldier was killed and four other soldiers were maimed in the attack on the Cicekalan border post early on Tuesday.

In a separate announcement on Twitter, the defense ministry said five other Kurdish holy warriors were also killed by Ottoman Turkish artillery systems. It said they were allegedly preparing for an attack on Ottoman Turkish-controlled areas of northern Syria and had opened ``harassment fire'' on the region.

Turkey has launched three major cross-border operations into Syria since 2016 and already controls some territories in the north.

Turkish shelling kills child, injures several civilians in northern Syria: Asayish
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish forces shelled Syria’s northern towns of Kobane and Tal Tamir over the past 24 hours, killing a 14-year-old child and several other civilians, the Kurdish internal security forces (Asayish) said on Tuesday.

Asayish said in a statement that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
shelled Tal Tamir and its vicinity, injuring three civilians. "It also began bombing the city of Kobani which resulted in the death of a 14-year-old child and the injury of five citizens, including a woman and a child."

Key service facilities were also damaged by the attack, Asayish added.

Hawar News Agency (ANHA), a news outlet affiliated to the Kurdish administration, said those injured in Kobane are aged between two and 40 years, identifying the dead child as Abid Muhammed Haji.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) carried out a rocket attack against Ottoman Turkish forces in Kobane, killing one soldier and injuring four others. The SDF has not confirmed it.

Ottoman Turkish state media cited Sanliurfa Governor Salih Ayhan as saying Ottoman Turkish forces on the border with Syria were attacked, adding that one soldier was killed and four other were maimed along Sanliurfa borders with Kobane.

The Ottoman Turkish defense ministry said in a tweet on Tuesday that their troops in different parts of northern Syria were attacked by the People’s Protection Units (YPG), backbone of the SDF, adding that they responded to the attacks and killed five YPG fighters.

ANHA claimed that Ottoman Turkish forces also carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
against Syrian regime forces in Kobane as well, killing 16 and severely injuring three others.

The UK-based SOHR also reported the attack on regime forces, saying 11 people were killed and eight injured but "it has not yet been known whether the dead people are regime soldiers only or civilians too.

The Syrian army has not confirmed the attack on its forces.

The regime forces were stationed in Kobane’s bordering area in recent years following an agreement with the SDF in a bid to stop Ottoman Turkish troops from advancing into the city.

Farhad Shami, head of SDF media center, said late Tuesday that "Ottoman Turkish military aircraft have conducted 12 airstrikes against positions of the Syrian army deployed on the border strip west of #Kobane, causing life losses and casualties."

Shami also reported the death of a child and several civilians in the Kobane attack.

Turkey carries out attacks against Kurdish forces in northeast Syria almost every day, sometimes causing civilian casualties. Ankara has repeatedly said that it does not target the civilians but "terrorists," referring to the YPG which it claims is the Syrian offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

The Ottoman Turkish army has carried out two major military operations against the SDF since 2018 and Ottoman Turkish brass hats are threatening to carry out a fresh offensive against the multi-ethnic force "at any moment."
