[FoxNews] A Connecticut man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman while attempting to steal her vehicle.
The East Haven Police department released a statement Wednesday following a report of an attempted carjacking in a Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 1 when William Rodriguez, 28,

pulled into the parking lot directly in front of the victim's car, according to authorities.
Rodriguez then allegedly exited his vehicle and climbed into the passenger side of the woman's car and demanded her keys. When she refused to surrender her keys, Rodriguez then began punching the woman, who was four months pregnant, before she could escape the vehicle and run inside the restaurant to seek help.
An employee working inside the drive-thru witnessed the assault and notified two coworkers, who then ran outside and restrained Rodriguez, who was attempting to flee in the victim's vehicle, according to the police statement.
When officers arrived at the scene, Rodriquez continued to struggle and after being taken into custody he bit a medic’s hand.
The vehicle in Rodriguez's possession at the time of the assault, a 2016 Hyundai Elantra, had been reported stolen previously.
[Gateway] On Christmas Eve 2023, 41 year old Master Sergeant Nicholas Van Pelt was dead, and a 40 year old woman who was not his wife was on the ground bleeding from a bullet to the shoulder and one to the arm. Meanwhile, Department of Homeland Security Agent Daniel Breijo was patiently waiting for police to arrive with his hands on his head and the murder weapon at his side in the bathroom.
The bleeding woman was able to tell police, "Danny did it" as she was taken to safety and for medical attention. She has not been identified, except that she is a 40 year old employee in Ward County’s state attorney’s office. What she meant was that Breijo was the one who fired eight shots in the small apartment, six almost immediately into the chest of Van Pelt when he answered the door.
Since that time, the criminal case in the state of North Dakota against federal DHS Agent Breijo has lingered and largely stalled.
Nine months later and the case still has not set the dates for its preliminary hearing, and the defense uncharacteristically keeps trying to seal all details in this criminal case from public view.

Tennessee law prohibits property owners from protecting themselves against looters.
Hurricane Helene struck with devastation that is unprecedented in recent memory when it hit ground at the end of September 2024. It devastated substantial parts of East Tennessee and other states with flooding, death tolls are rising, roads and infrastructure are unusable perhaps for weeks or months. Now, there are news reports that the residents in those areas are also becoming the victims of looters . But, were you aware that the laws in Tennessee, laws which have been maintained and sustained by the Republican controlled legislature, make it a crime for the affected residents to defend their homes and property from looters?
Tennessee law prohibits the use of deadly force to protect real or personal property. Tennessee Code Annotated §§ 39-11-611; 39-11-614. That means, if someone has broken into your home, your barn, your garage, or is trespassing on your land, you cannot use “deadly force” to force them to stop or to get off of your property. If someone is stealing your car, your truck, your life’s savings, your food, your generator, your fuel, your livestock or any other property, you cannot use “deadly force” to stop them or to protect your stuff.
Tennessee law also prohibits the use of deadly force in making a citizen’s arrest. Tennessee Code Annotated §39-11-621. That means if someone becomes aware that another person (e.g., looters) are on their property, stealing their stuff or perhaps has even assaulted or killed one of their family members, that individual cannot use “deadly force” to make a citizen’s arrest.
It is no answer that “well I did not fire the gun” or “I did not shoot them” or “I only pointed the gun at them.” In Tennessee, deadly force is defined by the Legislature – not by common sense. The Legislature has created this definition – “ Deadly force means force that is intended or known by the defendant to cause or, in the manner of its use or intended use, is capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. ” Tennessee Code Annotated § 39-11-602(2)(cleaned up). Thus, even the brandishment of a firearm, a knife, or anything else that is capable of causing death or serious bodily injury is the use of deadly force.
If a person, perhaps a storm victim who is being victimized by looters or trespassers, were to try to protect their property with a firearm, even if they did not fire it, by brandishing the firearm and/or perhaps yelling “stop right there or I will shoot”, that individual likely commits a felony offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. See, Tennessee Code Annotated § 39-13-102(a)(1)(A)(iii) (likely a Class C felony and a sentence range of 3-6 years).
Tennessee’s Legislature has tied the hands of victims by forcing them to stand by without the ability to protect their homes, lands, or the property from thieves, robbers, burglars and looters. To that extent, the Republican controlled General Assembly has victimized the innocent again. These laws should be changed so that citizens, even if not in a emergency, can effectively defend themselves, their lands, their homes and their properties from those who are willing to risk their lives to engage in criminal activity.

Tennessee’s Legislature has tied the hands of victims by forcing them to stand by without the ability to protect their homes, lands, or the property from thieves, robbers, burglars and looters
When the government does that, it's no longer legitimate. A government unable or unwilling to provide security for your life, family and property is only operating by force and cohesion.
[Breitbart] The newly minted prime minister of Japan, Ishiba Shigeru, called the creation of an “Asian version of NATO” to contain China “essential” in recent remarks, Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Sunday.
Ishiba became the nation’s prime minister on Tuesday after being elected to run the ruling conservative Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Friday. He replaces outgoing Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, who announced he would step down in August. Ishiba was elected to run the LDP for three years.
The Yomiuri found Ishiba’s call for the creation of an anti-China military alliance in commentary that he offered to the Hudson Institute think tank. The Institute published replies to questions, many of them related to Japan’s national security, it had sent Ishiba on September 25, with the context that he answered them before he was elected to run the LDP. His answers, the Hudson Institute noted do “not necessarily reflect his view as the next prime minister.”
Ishiba’s answers repeatedly emphasized the need of creating a NATO-like military alliance in East Asia to protect from Chinese belligerence, comparing the top threat for NATO at the moment – the Russian invasion of Ukraine – to a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan. While Taiwan is a sovereign state, China falsely claims it as a rogue “province” and refers to its legitimate government as “separatists,” routinely threatening to invade.
Shortly before the onset of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic, which devastated the Chinese economy, genocidal dictator Xi Jinping warned that the Taiwanese government and anyone who supports it would have their “bones ground to powder.”
“Ukraine today is Asia tomorrow,” Ishiba told the Hudson Institute. “Replacing Russia with China and Ukraine with Taiwan, the absence of a collective self-defense system like NATO in Asia means that wars are likely to break out because there is no obligation for mutual defense.”
These remarks echo some of the final writings of the late Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, who prior to his assassination in 2022 advocated for a hardline stance in defense of Ukraine from the Russian invasion and compared the situation to China’s threats against Taiwan.
“The human tragedy that has befallen Ukraine has taught us a bitter lesson. There must no longer be any room for doubt in our resolve concerning Taiwan,” Abe wrote at the time.
“Under these circumstances, the creation of an Asian version of NATO is essential to deter China by its Western allies,” Ishiba added in his comments to the Hudson Institute.
Ishiba also noted that Japan’s enemies, most prominent Russia and North Korea, are increasingly committing to defending each other from any potential military entanglement. Russian strongman Vladimir Putin signed a mutual defense agreement with dictator Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang in June. Russia and Japan, while not actively hostile to each other, are in a technical state of war since World War II, as they have not agreed to any peace treaty or other method of ending the war.
“Recently, Russia and North Korea have formed a military alliance, and nuclear technology is being transferred from Russia to North Korea,” Ishiba said. “North Korea is strengthening its nuclear and missile capabilities, and if China’s strategic nuclear weapons are added to these dynamics, the US extended deterrence in the region will no longer function.”
“This is to be supplemented by an Asian version of NATO, which must ensure deterrence against the nuclear alliance of China, Russia, and North Korea,” he continued. “The Asian version of NATO must also specifically consider America’s sharing of nuclear weapons or the introduction of nuclear weapons into the region.”
Ishiba also proposed greatly strengthening the relationship between Japan and America, comparing his ideal to the “special relationship” between Washington and London.
“The current Japan-US security treaty is structured so that the US is obligated to ‘defend’ Japan, and Japan is obligated to ‘provide bases’ to the US,” he noted. “The time is ripe to change this ‘asymmetrical bilateral treaty.'”
Ishiba, a longtime LDP stalwart, defeated a record eight other candidates for the leadership of the LDP last week. A lawmaker since 1986, Ishiba vocally supports expanding the Japanese Self-Defense Forces (SDF) ability to act, opposing pacifist calls to maintain the longstanding policy of not having a formal military. Ishiba lost some support from Japanese conservatives on domestic issues, however, for supporting same-sex marriages, and for joining the chorus of those who believed that Kishida should give up the prime ministership.
Kishida announced he would step down in August after polling showed him growing increasingly unpopular, alongside his ruling party. Kishida noted the damage that a variety of scandals – most involving political corruption, some involving ties to the notorious Unification Church – had done to the LDP’s public standing, declaring, “politics cannot function without public trust.”
The Unification Church, an organization widely referred to as a cult and known for its eccentric founder Rev. Sun Myung-moon, developed ties with many high-ranking politicians and became embroiled in fundraising scandals. Abe’s assassin, Yamagami Tetsuya, told police that he targeted Abe because of his ties to the Church. Yamagami said that his mother had been a longtime member of the church and fell into bankruptcy while donating her money to the Unification Church, leaving his family destitute. The Church ultimately confirmed that Yamagami Yoko, his mother, was a member.
Abe reportedly made appearances at events with ties to the Unification Church, but he was not a member. Following his assassination, several high-ranking LDP members were also exposed as having ties to the Church, sending the party’s approval ratings into a tailspin.
Despite the LDP’s woes in the past year, it still counts on the lack of a formidable, unified Japanese left existing on a national level. Even in the throes of some of its lowest approval ratings under Kishida, for example, the LDP kept the governorship of Tokyo in an election in July in which the top rival was endorsed by the Japanese Communist Party – but who had to compete with a record 55 other candidates for media attention.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A 33-year-old Chinese national on a student visa has been identified as the man suspected of pouring hot coffee on a baby at a park - as police reveal the child will have injuries for life due to the horrific attack.
Nine-month-old Luka was on a picnic with his mother in Hanlon Park, in inner south east Brisbane, when the man approached them at about midday on August 27, poured the thermos of scalding coffee over the toddler and fled.
The baby suffered life-threatening burns to his face, upper body and arms and has undergone four operations in Queensland Children's Hospital.
Police obtained a warrant for the man's arrest for acts intending to cause grievous bodily harm, which carries a life sentence as a maximum penalty.
The man drove to NSW a day after the alleged attack before flying out of the country from Sydney on August 31.
Acting Assistant Police Commissioner Andrew Massingham told Radio 4BC on Thursday that the suspect's name had been published in Chinese media.
Police said the 33-year-old man had no family or criminal record in Australia and had worked in Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
Daily Mail Australia understands he had been on a holiday visa since first coming to Australia in 2019, before switching to a student visa.

"People are going to sit up and realize how important longshoremen jobs are," Daggett said Tuesday. "They won’t be able to sell cars. They won’t be able to stock malls. They won’t be able to do anything in this country without my f***ing people. And it’s about time they start realizing it."
The white-haired, acerbic, profane-laden leader is in his fourth term as union president. He is leading thousands of men and women into the organization’s most militant stance yet against port operators following decades of fierce contract negotiations with ocean carriers.
Daggett, who often shows up to sit-down interviews in muscle shirts, gold chains, and large medallions, is throwing himself into the fight of his life — to win a historic pay raise and stop automation in its tracks.
On Tuesday, he was at the Port Authority in Elizabeth, New Jersey, wearing a blue sweatshirt and a gray baseball hat. He was also carrying a bullhorn.
"We are prepared to fight as long as necessary, to stay out on strike for whatever period of time it takes, to get the wages and protections against automation our ILA members deserve," his raspy voice rang out. It was the ILA’s first coastwide strike in almost five decades.
The existing contract between the union and the port operators group, the United States Maritime Alliance, which covers roughly 45,000 longshoremen, expired on Monday. Negotiations have stalled since June, when, citing the use of labor-saving technology at the port in Alabama, the ILA broke off talks.
Daggett is gunning for a 77% pay increase over six years. That would boost the base hourly rate for dockworkers to $69 from $39. Port employers and ocean shipping companies initially offered nearly 40%. Under pressure from the White House on Monday, they increased their offer to 50%.
Daggett said no deal and vowed the strike would continue until employers meet his demands.

Another sighting of the AIM-174B, this time at Point Mugu Naval Air Station, is offering a look at what the future of naval aviation air warfare operations could look like in a high intensity conflict, bringing back hints of the U.S. Navy’s past in great power competition.
An F/A-18F Super Hornet from Test and Evaluation Squadron 9 (VX-9), the primary test squadron for the AIM-174B, was spotted by father-son Instagram duo Mark and Taj of @point_mugu_skies. Fully loaded, the F/A-18F was carrying four CATM-174Bs, three CATM-120Ds, two CATM-9Xs, and a centerline fuel tank with the IRST-21 infrared-search-and-track system.
Operationally, this would offer a Super Hornet unparalleled capabilities for long-range engagements with four AIM-174Bs, backed up by AIM-120Ds that are reportedly approaching the threshold range for AIM-260 JATM range requirements–potentially up to 190 kilometers (120 miles).
The U.S. Navy’s investment into these advanced capabilities and longer ranges is another example of the evolving Carrier Air Wing concept heading into the late 2020s.
