RUMINT: Jewish Voice for Peace accused of being a Hamas front
RUMINT because I don’t know how trustworthy the sources are. From the closed Facebook group Mothers Against College Antisemitism. Text copied because I don’t know how to copy/paste an image from a private FB group, but the tweet was retweeted here:

We keep telling you JVP is NOT Jewish and permeates [sic] antisemitic tropes!

A Jewish Resistance
@AJwshResistance

So it turns out the anti-Zionist Jewish Voice for Peace org is actually run by NON-JEWISH Hamas affiliated Hatem Bazian…!?

He thought he was logged into the JVP Twitter account when he replied to @jaketapper when he replied pretending to be a Jew…

Searching Twitter for @AJwshResistance, I discovered the tweet actually dates back to 11:32 pm 5/12/2023.
Then there’s this:

More: Caroline Glick @CarolineGlick, who is much more knowledgeable than I, retweeted the Jewish Resistance tweet, commenting

Quite a discovery.
"Jewish" Voice for Peace has a Twitter account managed by the Hamas aligned leader of the BDS movement in the US.

US Justice Department probing whether Columbia University hid ‘illegal alien’ students
Follow-up to this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] Investigation comes as Trump administration intensifies campaign to deport foreigners who took part in anti-Israel protests

The US Justice Department is investigating whether Columbia University concealed "illegal aliens" on its campus, one of its brass hats said Friday, as the Trump administration intensified its campaign to deport foreigners who participated in anti-Israel and pro-Paleostinian demonstrations at the school last year.

Agents with the Department of Homeland Security searched two university residences with a warrant Thursday evening. No one was arrested, and it was unclear whom the authorities were searching for. But by Friday afternoon, US officials had announced developments related to two people they had pursued in connection with the demonstrations.

A Columbia doctoral student from India whose visa was revoked by the Trump administration fled the US on an airliner. And a Paleostinian woman who had been arrested during the protests at the university last April was arrested by federal immigration authorities in Newark, New Jersey, on charges that she overstayed an expired visa.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, speaking at the Justice Department, said it was all part of the president’s "mission to end antisemitism in this country."
Moving the Overton Window: blasting reports that those involved in the protests are being scrutinized by the feds will drive some to leave the country to avoid trouble, and will drive others to stop misbehaving, even before additional bad actors are caught.
"Just last night, we worked with the Department of Homeland Security to execute search warrants from an investigation into Columbia University for harboring and concealing illegal aliens on its campus," Blanche said. "That investigation is ongoing, and we are also looking at whether Columbia’s handling of earlier incidents violated civil rights laws and included terrorism crimes."

Blanche didn’t say what evidence agents had of wrongdoing by the university. It was unclear whether he was accusing the school itself of "terrorism crimes" or saying that people involved in the protests had committed such crimes.
Protesters most definitely have, and the university has been passive-aggressively complicit, thrilled to relive their youth via proximity to the romance of Seventies-style protests.
The News Agency that Dare Not be Named left messages seeking comment from the university about Blanche’s accusations Friday.

In a note to the school community following the searches Thursday night, interim university president Katrina Armstrong said Columbia was "committed to upholding the law."
Uh huh.
She described herself as "heartbroken" that federal agents had been on campus searching student rooms.

"I understand the immense stress our community is under," Armstrong wrote. "Despite the unprecedented challenges, Columbia University will remain a place where the pursuit of knowledge is cherished and fiercely protected,
Oh? What do you know, Madam President, about the history of the Jews in the Common Era and the history of the 20th century Levant?
where the rule of law and due process is respected and never taken for granted, and where all members of our community are valued and able to thrive."

Columbia has come under immense pressure from the Trump administration in recent weeks, with the US government canceling $400 million in federal grants and contracts to the school, much of it for medical research, as punishment for not cracking down harder on students and faculty who took part in anti-Israel activities last spring in protest of the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
President Donald Trump
...Never got invited to a P.Diddy party...
and other officials have accused the protesters as being "pro-Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
," as the war in Gaza was sparked by the Hamas-led assault on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, in which some 1,200 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage.

The administration threatened to permanently end federal funding to the Ivy League school unless it took a variety of steps, including changing its admissions process and ceding faculty control of its Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies Department to a receiver for five years.

It also demanded that the school ban people from wearing masks on campus, change how it recruits international students, adopt a new definition of antisemitism, and abolish its student disciplinary process.

Students and faculty who participated in last year’s protests at Columbia have insisted that criticizing Israel and advocating for Paleostinian rights isn’t antisemitic.
True. Even hating Israel and Jews is not necessarily antisemitic. It becomes antisemitism when Jews and/or Israel are held to a separate standard and blamed for all the problems and actions done by others, and when all Jews are accused of things only some have done — like assuming that all Irishmen are drunks or all Hispanics are illegal, drug-dealing gangsters.
Some Jewish students and faculty, though, said that the rhetoric made them feel unsafe and often veered into outright antisemitism.
The protesting crowds and individual classmates and instructors threatened them, physically attacked them, prevented them from going to class, drove them out of class and university buildings, attacked them in the streets and in the dorms… all for the crime of being Israeli or Jewish, being associated with Israelis or Jews, or being Israel-curious. In some cases, Israeli Arabs have been attacked for the same reason. How should they have felt?
Columbia University’s campus has been in crisis since the arrest Saturday of Mahmoud Khalil, a Paleostinian activist who helped lead last spring’s protests.
Good. They worked hard to earn it.
The Trump administration said Friday it had revoked the visa of Ranjani Srinivasan, an Indian citizen and doctoral student at Columbia, for "advocating for violence and terrorism." Srinivasan opted to "self-deport" Tuesday, the department said.
Reportedly she ran off to Canada, where she’ll fit right in.
Officials didn’t say what evidence they had that Srinivasan had advocated violence. Her lawyers denied the accusations, and she told The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

that she wasn’t involved in organizing any Columbia protests.

According to the newspaper, the Department of Homeland Security said Srinivasan didn’t disclose two protest-related summonses on her visa renewal application last year. Srinivasan told the newspaper she had received the summonses — for allegedly refusing to disperse and obstructing foot or vehicle traffic — after simply getting caught up in a crowd of protesters while trying to return to her apartment from a picnic last year. She said she left the summonses off her renewal form because her case had been dismissed.

The woman who was arrested in Newark, Leqaa Kordia, was charged with failing to leave the US after her visa expired. Columbia said it had no record of Kordia ever being a student there or being arrested on the campus. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
there were numerous protests and arrests in the streets outside of the university at the same time.

Kordia had previously received a student visa, but it was terminated in 2022 for "lack of attendance," the department said. She is being held in an immigration detention center in Alvarado, Texas, according to a government database.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio
...The diminutive 13-year-old Republican U.S. Senator from Florida, Secretary of State in the second Trump administration...
told news hounds Friday the Trump administration is expecting to revoke more student visas in the coming days.

The Grand Turk
Turkey demands PKK surrender weapons
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
’s defense minister on Saturday demanded the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) surrender its weapons after the group said it was committed to its founder’s call to disband, but the PKK leadership said a one-sided ceasefire is not enough.

"The terrorist organization PKK and all its extensions operating in different geographies and under different names - regardless of where they are located - must make the decision to terminate immediately and surrender their weapons immediately and unconditionally. There is and will be no response to any statement or action to the contrary," Yasar Guler, the Ottoman Turkish defense minister, said in a ceremony honouring slain soldiers.

In February, incarcerated
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan called on the group he founded to lay down arms and dissolve itself after more than four decades of war with Turkey. His statement was issued amid renewed peace efforts to end a conflict that broke out in 1984, has spilled over international borders, and claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people.

The PKK said it accepted Ocalan’s call for peace and declared a unilateral ceasefire, but on Saturday it accused Turkey of continuing to carry out attacks.

"We see the ceasefire we declared as an important practical step and as a way to put Leader Abdullah Ocalan's historic call into practice. Of course, it is not possible to take such practical steps by unilaterally ceasing fire; in order to take practical steps, all weapons must be silenced," read a statement from the PKK’s Executive Committee.

"The military attacks of the Ottoman Turkish army have partially decreased compared to the previous process, there have been a total of 73 aircraft attacks, 4175 artillery and howitzer fires, and 8 uses of prohibited weapons during the two-week unilateral ceasefire period," the PKK statement added.

Pervin Buldan, a politician from the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) that is mediating the peace talks, said in an interview with Ottoman Turkish Haber Medya that they will meet with President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
after the Eid holiday at the end of March. She said they will expect concrete steps from the government.

Founded in 1978, the PKK initially called for the establishment of an independent Kurdistan but now calls for autonomy. The group is designated a terrorist organization by Turkey and its Western allies.

Houston police will call ICE for administrative warrants
[TEXASTRIBUNE.ORG] Houston
...a city in Texas, named after Sam Houston, who would drop deader than he is now if he could see how it turned out...
police are being instructed to call federal immigration authorities if they come across an individual who has deportation orders listed in the national crime database.

The new guidance to law enforcement in Texas' largest city comes after the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials added 700,000 individuals with deportation orders to the National Crime Information Center database, which is used widely by local law enforcement across the country to track warrants, missing persons, stolen property and other criminal records.
Underlining the opposite priority of the Biden-Harris administration, which hid that information from those trying to enforce the law.
The Houston Chronicle first reported on the guidance Friday, citing an email from Executive Chief Thomas Hardin. According to the Chronicle, the email said officers must call federal authorities when they discover a hit in the federal system. Hardin told officers to consult with federal authorities on how to handle the situation, including remaining at the scene for ICE to arrive.

"If that is not feasible or offered, our officers will select whatever option does not involve transporting the individual," Hardin wrote in the email, according to the Chronicle.

The updated guidance comes after Houston police recently called ICE on an undocumented immigrant motorist after stopping him for a cracked windshield, bringing renewed attention to local law enforcement's involvement in immigration enforcement.

There are more than 1.4 million people with active deportation orders across the country.

ICE's inclusion of individuals with deportation orders to the crime database broadens the ability for local law enforcement to identify undocumented immigrants colonists. Previously, local law enforcement across the country did not have access to such administrative warrants.

''We've never seen ICE detainers before. They were just never in our system,'' Doug Griffith, spokesperson for the Houston Police Officers' Union, told The Houston Landing on Friday. ''Now the feds have put that into the system. So if we stop somebody and they show an ICE detainer, we have to contact ICE or whatever agency they have the warrant out of.''

Draft 3-tier Trump travel BAN to hit 43 countries
[X] Not sure why Bhutan's on the list. I thought nothing ever happened there?

PJ Media responds:
The timing of this tells us a lot. I know it seems like forever ago, but you may recall the chaotic rollout of the first travel ban in 2017, when an Obama holdover named Sally Yates actively undermined presidential authority by refusing to defend the travel ban. The narrative was that Trump’s travel ban was racist, even though it was actually Barack Obama
I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody...
who came up with the list. Well, things are being done differently this time.

The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

notes that the list was developed several weeks ago, which means that this time Trump has ensured that his Department of Justice, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, is fully prepared to defend these crucial security measures.

With a DOJ now firmly aligned with America's interests, unlike the resistance-minded babus bureaucrats of 2017, the administration can implement these crucial security measures effectively. It's worth noting that Trump's current administration has experienced far fewer leaks than during his first term—a sign of increased institutional control and loyalty.

What's different this time? Trump has learned from experience. Instead of rushing implementation, the administration has methodically prepared for the inevitable lawfare from activist attorneys and open-borders advocates. The State Department has been deeply involved in developing these recommendations, ensuring a thorough vetting process.

Let's get something straight: despite what the hysterical left will undoubtedly claim, this isn't a "Moslem ban." Just like the previous ban, it excludes Indonesia—the world's largest Moslem nation. This is about national security, not religion.

Will that stop the left from freaking out? Don’t count on it. I suspect the meltdown over these expanded restrictions will be a sight to behold. They'll conveniently ignore that this policy is based on serious security assessments, not ideology. They'll forget how they stayed silent when Obama's administration identified these problematic countries. And they'll certainly never admit that Trump's previous travel ban helped keep Americans safer.

But here's the bottom line: President Trump promised to put America's security first, and he's delivering. While the final list may undergo some changes before reaching the White House, the message is clear—this administration is serious about protecting our borders and vetting who enters our country. The left can scream "xenophobia" all they want, but American citizens understand that strong borders make for a safer nation.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
‘Hamas never stopped digging’: Ex-hostage warns tunnel network under Gaza still growing
[IsraelTimes] In first interview since release, Tal Shoham recalls refusing to kneel to his terrorist captors, says he became severely malnourished after receiving just 300 calories a day

Recently released hostage Tal Shoham warned in an interview aired Saturday that the Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
terror group has continued to expand its vast underground tunnel network in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
unabated, despite the long months of war with Israel inside the Paleostinian enclave.

Shoham was returned to Israel on February 22, after having been kidnapped from Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, 2023 while visiting his wife’s parents.

His wife Adi was also taken hostage, along with their two children Yahel, then 3, and Naveh, 8. The three were released during the weeklong truce in November 2023.

He opened up about his 505 days in Hamas captivity, starting from the moment of the abduction itself, in an interview with Fox News, aired on Saturday evening.

He told the news outlet that he didn’t initially know what had become of his wife and children, as he had been taken hostage separately after he stepped outside to surrender, hoping it would spare the lives of his loved ones.

Recalling the experience, Shoham said that as he stepped outside to surrender, he was met with "about 40 armed terrorists," some of whom were filming him while others laughed.

He recalled being driven into Gaza and hauled out of the trunk of the car he was transported in, at which point his captors told him to kneel. He refused.

"I said ’I can’t control whether you kill me or not,’ and I raised by hands — but I refused to kneel’," he told Fox, adding that he told his captors: "If you want to kill me, kill me, but you will not execute me like ISIS."

After refusing to kneel, Shoham said he was marched through the streets of Gaza to the jeers of watching crowds.

"I just waved and smiled," he recalled. "I didn’t show fear."

As he was taken hostage ahead of his family, Shoham said he spent his first 50 days in captivity not knowing whether his wife and children were alive or dead.

"Never in my life have I experienced suffering like this," he said of the uncertainty, which was compounded by the intense loneliness he felt, as he was at that point, being held alone. To survive, Shoham said he had to "accept that my family was dead."

"I sat on the floor and imagined myself at their funeral. I stood in front of a grave — one large for my wife, and two small for my children — and I eulogized each of them," he recalled. "I sobbed but didn’t let my captors see me cry. That was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, burying my family in my mind."

On his 50th day in captivity, however, Shoham received a letter from his wife informing him that she and their two children were alive, and being released from captivity.

Knowing that his family was safe was the "most important thing," Shoham says. "I didn’t need to be a father and husband protecting them anymore. Now, I could focus on my war, the one I knew how to fight, the one for survival."

After 34 days alone in captivity, Shoham’s captors brought two other hostages — Evyatar David and Guy Gilboa Dalal — to the house he was being held in. The three remained there until June 2024, when they were transferred to an underground tunnel, joining Omer Wenkert there. He remained there until his release.

Shoham said that while in that tunnel =he was guarded by captors who were responsible for digging the tunnels that make up Hamas’s vast underground network in the Paleostinian enclave.

The terror operatives would dig constantly, said Shoham. "Hamas never stopped digging tunnels. not for a single day."

While the exact length and breadth of Hamas’s tunnel network is unclear, a January 2024 New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

report based on the estimates of Israeli defense officials placed it at around 350 to 450 miles long.

At the time, the defense officials said there were roughly 5,700 separate shafts leading down to the tunnels.

In July 2024, it was reported that, despite the long months of fighting in the Gaza Strip, the tunnel network was still in a "good functional state," as even many of the areas targeted by the IDF had been fixed.

Shoham, like many other released hostages, recounted that food was scarce throughout his captivity.

When he was first captured, he was held in the home of a Gazook family, where for the first three days he received pita bread.

Then, he said, "food supplies dwindled."

After that, he would receive as little as "three spoons of avocado and three dates" per day, "or half an orange from a tree in the yard."

He estimated that at that stage, he was getting just 300 calories a day — a fraction of the roughly 2,400 calories a man his age is supposed to receive.

After moving him to the tunnel with three other hostages, Shoham’s captors would give him some 300 milliliters of water a day — for both drinking and washing — and plain rice.

The diet left him severely malnourished, he told Fox, and after months in which he was getting progressively more unwell, his captors finally brought a doctor to see him. By that point, he said, he had already developed a severe infection, and had internal bleeding in his legs.

"My legs turned blue, yellow, and purple with internal bleeding," he said. The doctor gave him and the other hostages blood thinners to prevent clots, as well as seven days’ worth of vitamin supplements to combat the malnutrition.

"It tasted like dog food, but it dramatically improved our condition," he said.

Despite the supplements, Shoham was severely underweight upon his release from Gaza.

Shoham and Wenkert were released from captivity on February 22, while David and Gilboa Dalal were kept behind, and are among the 59 remaining hostages in Gaza.

Gaza terror groups are still holding 58 of the 251 kidnapped by Hamas-led turbans on October 7, 2023. They include the bodies of at least 35 confirmed dead by the IDF.

Israel signals willingness for ceasefire talks amid US mediation efforts
[GEO.TV] Israel is prepared to continue Gaza ceasefire talks based on the mediators' response to a US proposal for the release of 11 living captives and half of the deceased, Netanyahu's office has said.

According to the statement, the proposal would see 11 living captives and half the dead captives released ''immediately''.

According to Israeli media, 24 captives are believed to be alive in Gaza and 35 captives are confirmed dead.

Yesterday, the US also proposed a ''bridge'' plan to extend the ceasefire in Gaza into April and allow time to negotiate a permanent end to Israel's war.

French, German officials opt out after Israel invites far right to antisemitism conf.
[IsraelTimes] Bernard-Henri Levy and Berlin’s antisemitism czar withdraw from this month’s Jerusalem event after learning who else is on Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli’s guest list

French philosopher Bernard-Henri Levy and two German officials have canceled their participation in an Israeli government-organized conference on combating antisemitism at the end of the month after learning that far-right European figures have been invited.

The March 26-27 conference is being organized by Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli, who has worked to strengthen Israel’s relationship with Europe’s far-right parties, which Israel had long boycotted due to their ties to antisemitism and Nazism.

Prominent far-right figures on the International Conference on Combating Antisemitism’s guest list include Jordan Bardella, president of the far-right French National Rally party; Marion Marechal, a far-right French Member of the European Parliament; and Hermann Tertsch, a far-right Spanish Member of the European Parliament.

Levy, one of La Belle France’s most prominent public intellectuals and a staunch defender of Israel, was scheduled to be a keynote speaker at the event. But he told the French daily Le Monde that he informed President Isaac Herzog that he would not attend because of the far-right guests.

Felix Klein, Germany’s antisemitism czar, told Haaretz he had been unaware of the guest list when he confirmed his attendance, and canceled after seeing who was slated to speak at the event.

Volker Beck, a former Bundestag member, also announced he would not attend, writing on X: "If we associate ourselves with extreme right-wing forces, we discredit our common cause; it also goes against my personal convictions and will have a negative impact on our fight against antisemitism within our societies."

Officials at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, which is hosting the event, told Haaretz they were "surprised to hear who the invitees were, as it was clarified that the purpose of the conference is combating antisemitism." They added that they had not yet received a guest list but would examine it once they did.

This is the first official Israeli government event to which members of Europe’s radical right have been invited.

Chikli’s outspoken support for the European far-right has drawn condemnation from European countries.

In December, Romania’s Ambassador to Israel condemned Chikli for holding a phone conversation with presidential candidate Calin Georgescu, who has praised Romanian leaders who oversaw the deaths of some 280,000 Jews during the Holocaust.

French President Emmanuel Macron complained to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Chikli after he publicly endorsed the presidential candidacy of National Rally’s Marine Le Pen in the recent election.

The National Rally, currently led by Bardella, has made efforts in recent years to disassociate itself from its antisemitic origins. "My presence in Jerusalem for this major conference against antisemitism demonstrates our absolute commitment to this fight," Bardella told Le Journal du Dimanche.

The conference is offering guests a tour of the West Bank, in which "participants shall explore the diverse aspects of life and coexistence in the region, delve into ancient biblical sites, and gain a comprehensive understanding of the region’s strategic importance."

Other notable attendees include Herzog, Netanyahu, Argentine President Javier Milei, Anti-Defamation League head Jonathan Greenblatt, and evangelist Mike Evans.

Notably, no members of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party were invited. The far-right faction made significant gains in last month’s national election, coming in second in the polls.

Gaza to run out of basic foodstuffs within days
“Wolf! WOLF!! WOLF!!!!!!!!1!1!!!” Hamas warehouses have been stuffed full to bursting since Israel started allowing shipments in under Biden administration pressure. So full, in fact, that some official organization certified that Gaza is not and has never been in a famine situation or even close to running out of food.
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Hamas spokesman, Abdulatif al-Qanu, has warned that within the few coming days the Gaza markets would be void of many basic commodities and foodstuffs.

He said in a press release on Thursday that the Gaza inhabitants are under a tightened siege for the second consecutive week after Israel blocked the entry of food, fuel, medicines, and basic commodities in a new starvation policy.

''Unless the international community shoulders its responsibility toward the Gaza Strip, its inhabitants would again slip into famine in the holy month of Ramadan,'' al-Qanu underlined.

The Hamas spokesman urged the mediating countries to apply more pressure on Israel to open the Gaza crossings, allow entry of humanitarian aid materials, and end the policy of collective punishment against the Palestinian people.

Netanyahu files police complaint over ‘mafia-like’ blackmail by ex-Shin Bet chief
Not the Mafia, but like FBI founder J. Edgar Hoover, except Mr. Hoover was never so stupid as to publicly threaten the presidents whose secrets he kept in his files.
[IsraelTimes] Police chief orders review of comments by Nadav Argaman, after PM accuses him of using criminal tactics when threatening in TV interview to publish secret info if Netanyahu breaks the law

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu complained to police Friday against former Shin Bet chief Nadav Argaman, accusing him of "threatening and blackmailing a sitting prime minister" during a televised interview aired the night before.

In a letter sent to Israel Police Chief Daniel Levy, the prime minister urged opening an investigation against Argaman who "had crossed all red lines" when he chose to "threaten and blackmail a sitting prime minister with the methods and ways of crime organizations," acting in like the "mafia" and using "underworld" tactics.

The letter, published in full by Likud, was sent by Netanyahu’s attorney Uriel Nizri.

Police Commissioner Daniel Levi said on Friday afternoon that he had instructed Sherlocks "to review the comments" made by Argaman, the police said in a statement.

During his interview with the same network the night before, Argaman claimed to be sitting on a trove of information that would compromise the prime minister and threatened to make it public if Netanyahu breaks the law.

Netanyahu wrote to Levy that Argaman was threatening the prime minister via "criminal use of information he gained within the framework of his role in the Shin Bet agency."

Such action, he said, is a threat "not just to the prime minister but an absolute threat to the Israeli regime, the rule of law and to democracy."

He said the severity "goes beyond that of security offenses."

In the wide-ranging talk with Channel 12, Argaman detailed some of the disagreements he had with Netanyahu during his tenure as Shin Bet chief from 2016 to 2021, particularly surrounding the matter of Qatar

Strip.

"It’s quite clear that I have a great deal of knowledge, which I can put to use... but I’m currently keeping everything that happened between myself and the prime minister" out of the public sphere, Argaman said.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
"If the State of Israel or if I conclude that the prime minister has decided that he is going to act in contradiction to the law, then I will not have a choice and I will say everything I know and have refrained from saying until today," he warned.

Netanyahu quickly hit back at Argaman, accusing him of blackmail in a statement posted to X.

"Tonight, another dangerous red line was crossed for Israeli democracy," the premier said Thursday evening. "Never, in the entire history of Israel, and the history of democracy, has the former head of a security service blackmailed a sitting prime minister on live television."

Netanyahu then lodged the same "blackmail" accusation against current Shin Bet head Ronen Bar. He offered limited detail to explain the claim but claimed the Shin Bet chief held a series of off-record briefings with certain news hounds in recent days in order to tarnish the premier.

Bar’s agency, in turn, issued a statement responding to Netanyahu saying the accusation against Bar was a "serious allegation against the head of state organization."

It added that the Shin Bet chief "devotes all of his time to security matters, efforts to recover the hostages and the defense of democracy. Any statement to the contrary is devoid of any truth."

Netanyahu is widely reported to have been working for months to try and oust Bar, as he seeks to place the blame for the failures that allowed for Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
’s October 7, 2023, onslaught to unfold solely on the security echelon, as opposed to the politicianship.

Bar is said to be pushing back against the effort to oust him, fearing that acquiescence would allow Netanyahu to appoint a loyalist in his stead. Bar has refused to step down
...Hell no! The money's too good!...
despite his agency’s probe into October 7 finding failures by his agency, with him and Netanyahu trading increasingly public barbs.

The effort to fire Bar has been complicated in recent weeks, amid the launch of a joint Shin Bet-police investigation into alleged ties between several of Netanyahu’s aides and the Qatari government. For the prime minister to fire Bar while the investigation is ongoing would likely be perceived as a conflict of interest.

Current Shin Bet head rejects PM’s blackmail accusations, distances himself from predecessor

[IsraelTimes] Bar says security body and its head ‘do not use the organization’s power unnecessarily’ as he apparently rejects Argaman’s denouncement and threats against Netanyahu
