Helicopter Crashes in Al-Shabaab-Controlled Area in Central Somalia
[ShabelleMedia] A military helicopter crashed Wednesday in Maqdis, a village near Xawaadleey in Somalia’s central Shabelle region, an area controlled by the turban group al-Shabaab
... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
.

Reports indicate the helicopter was hit by heavy weapon fire from al-Shabaab fighters, forcing it down. Three personnel on board, believed to be part of the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), were maimed and have since been captured by the group.

The helicopter was reportedly en route to a military base in Jowhar, the regional capital of Middle Shabelle.

Maqdis is located near Xawaadleey, which fell completely under al-Shabaab control just one day prior. Xawaadleey lies approximately 40 kilometers from the towns of Balcad and Jowhar.

Before al-Shabaab seized the area, Burundian troops serving under AUSSOM and other Somali government forces withdrew following an attack that included al-Shabaab firing from positions near the Shabelle River.

Xawaadleey is a strategic location linking the capital, Mogadishu, to Balcad and Jowhar. Full control by al-Shabaab could hinder government and AUSSOM efforts to maintain connections between these key towns.

There have been multiple instances of aircraft crashes in areas controlled by al-Shabaab, raising concerns among Somalis about the safety and effectiveness of military operations in these Death Eater-held regions.

Over 40 Al-Shabaab Leaders and Militants killed in Targeted Operation – NISA
[ShabelleMedia] In a meticulously planned joint operation, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), the Somali National Army (SNA), and international partners successfully targeted and eliminated over 40 al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
operatives in the Ceelhareeri area of Hiiraan region.

The operation, executed with precision, focused on a location where al-Shabaab snuffies were concealed. In addition to neutralizing the bully boys, the operation destroyed vehicles utilized by the group.

Among those confirmed killed are Abuu Anas, identified as the head of al-Shabaab’s logistics for combat units, and Mohammed Ahmed (Xerow), a senior field commander within the group. Notably, Nuur Cabdi Rooble (Nuunuule), responsible for al-Shabaab operations across Hiiraan, Middle Shabelle, Mudug, and Galgaduud regions, and Commander Jeylaani, a top leader overseeing bully boy fronts, sustained critical injuries during the operation.

These individuals were believed to be the criminal masterminds behind recent suicide kabooms orchestrated by al-Shabaab in the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions. The success of this operation significantly disrupts their operational capabilities and undermines their plans against the Somali populace.

Terrorists Use Phone Of Abducted Chinese National In Kwara To Demand Ransom
[X]

Terrorists who kidnapped a Chinese expatriate and a Nigerian worker during a bushwhack on a mining site in Kwara State have demanded a ransom of ₦1billion for their release.

This was revealed by a security source in an update posted on Friday.

"Kidnappers who kidnapped a Chinese expatriate, Mr. Sam Xie Wie, and his Nigerian counterpart, Mr. David Adenaiye, in Kwara State have demanded a ransom of ₦1billion for their release, according to fresh intelligence obtained on Friday," the source, Zagazola Makama said.

It was gathered that the abductors used the victims’ mobile phones to contact an associate named Mr. Leo Liang making the ransom demand.

"The two men were kidnapped during an attack on a mining site on Wednesday, which also resulted in the death of two personnel of the Police Mobile Force assigned to protect the victims.

"Efforts are ongoing by security operatives and local vigilante groups to recover the kidnapped victims unharmed."

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the abduction occurred around 6:30pm on June 4, 2025, at a mining site in Oreke-Oke-Igbo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The button men also killed two coppers during the attack.

Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Police Command had issued a statement, saying: "The Kwara State Police Command confirms a deadly attack and abduction incident that occurred on June 4, 2025, at about 1830hrs. This heinous act was done at a mining site located in Oreke-Okeigbo in the Ifelodun local government area of the state."

"Information received from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Oreke indicates that a group of unidentified armed assailants invaded the said mining facility, where they tragically shot and killed two operatives of the Nigeria Police Force — ASP Haruna Watsai and Inspector Tukur Ogah, both attached to 45 PMF, Abuja, who were on official protective assignment at the location.

"The attackers also carted away the rifles of the dear departed officers.

"In addition to the heinous killings, the assailants kidnapped two individuals: Mr. Sam Xie Wie, a Chinese national, and Mr. David Adenaiye, a native from Kogi State who was working at the mining site at the time of the incident."

Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Adekimi Ojo, also condemned the incident in strong terms.

"The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Adekimi Ojo, strongly condemns this act of brutality and assures the public that the Command has since swung into decisive action," the statement read.

"Tactical and intelligence-driven efforts are currently underway to ensure the swift rescue of the kidnapped victims and the apprehension of those responsible for this cowardly attack."

"The Command is working in close synergy with other security agencies and community stakeholders to strengthen its presence in the area and prevent a recurrence of such incidents," the police statement added.

Palestinian arrested for assaulting rabbi with a chair at a Paris cafe
[IsraelTimes] Rabbi Elie Lemmel says this is the second time he has been attacked in a week amid surge of post-Oct. 7 antisemitic violence

A Paleostinian man was taken into custody after he threw a chair at a rabbi on a cafe terrace in a wealthy Gay Paree suburb, a police source told AFP, in an attack La Belle France’s main Jewish association condemned as antisemitic.

According to the source, the suspect attacked Rabbi Elie Lemmel in the western Gay Paree suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine. Lemmel was taken to hospital with a head injury.

The assailant was arrested and is in detention.

The attacker is a Paleostinian man residing illegally in Germany, said a source close to the case, adding that the man benefits from a status that offers a form of protection for people who cannot be deported to a conflict zone.
So a Palestinian, happily situated on the government dime in Germany, decides to go on a little Paris vacay just so he can beat up a French Jew? I’m sorry, but German Jews are just as good for beating up, though there aren’t nearly as many of them as France’s 440,000 (formerly 500,000, but some have thrown up their hands and emigrated).
An investigation has been launched into aggravated assault, prosecutors said.

The rabbi was talking to a person he had arranged to meet when he was attacked, receiving "a huge blow to the head."

"I fell to the ground and heard people shouting ’stop him’, and I realized that I had just been attacked," he told broadcaster BFMTV.

The rabbi said he had been attacked twice in the space of a week. Last Friday he was attacked in the northwestern town of Deauville when three drunk individuals hit him in the stomach.

"I am very afraid that we are living in a world where words are generating more and more evil," he said.

In 2024, a total of 1,570 antisemitic acts were recorded in La Belle France, according to the interior ministry.

Palestinian under psychiatric evaluation after hitting rabbi in France
[IsraelTimes] A Palestinian man arrested earlier today for throwing a chair at a rabbi in a Paris suburban cafe has been sent to hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, French authorities say.

The reason for the attack was unknown, but France’s main Jewish association condemned it as an antisemitic assault, and French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou blamed a “radicalization of public debate” against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Gaza.

The rabbi, Elie Lemmel, suffered a gash to his head from the chair that hit him as he was speaking with a companion in the cafe in the wealthy western Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine.

The local prosecutors’ office says that it opened a criminal investigation for assault, possibly aggravated by religious motives.

It says the Palestinian, an irregular migrant living with temporary papers in Germany, was thought to be 28 years old and born in the Gaza city of Rafah.
Ah. Well then, is he Hamas or PIJ? Or maybe Fatah, but very quiet about it until he got out.
It adds that “he is undergoing a psychiatric examination requiring his forced hospitalization.”
Still more from the Times of Israel
Elie Lemmel says he was sitting at a cafe in the Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine earlier today when he was hit in the head by a chair.

“I found myself on the ground, I immediately felt blood flowing,” he says.

He was stunned and unsure what exactly had happened, he says, initially thinking something must have fallen from a window or roof, before it occurred to him he had been attacked.

“Unfortunately, given my beard and my kippah, I suspected that was probably why, and it’s such a shame,” he says.

Today’s incident follows another in the town of Deauville in Normandy last week, when Lemmel said he was punched in the stomach by an unknown assailant.

Lemmel says he was used to “not-so-friendly looks, some unpleasant words, people passing by, spitting on the ground,” but had never been physically assaulted before the two attacks.

The prosecutor’s office in Nanterre said it had opened an investigation into the Neuilly attack for aggravated violence and that a person was being held for questioning. It said it could not provide further details.

Iraq
Two PKK fighters killed in Kurdistan Region despite peace talks
[Rudaw] The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) announced on Thursday that two of its members were killed by the Ottoman Turkish army in the Kurdistan Region's mountainous areas last week despite the ongoing peace talks with Ankara. A US-based war monitor has reported a surge in Ottoman Turkish attacks against the Kurdish group in May.

"Guerrilla areas in the Media Defense Areas [mountainous areas on Iraq-Iran-The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
borders where PKK is believed to be headquartered] were heavily bombed with explosive-laden drones, howitzers and heavy weapons. At the same time, our tunnels were also bombed with explosives. The Ottoman Turkish army's attacks are mostly concentrated against guerrilla tunnels in the Metina and Martyr Delil Western Zap regions," said the People's Defense Forces (HPG), which is the PKK’s wing for mountain units, in a statement.

Metina and Zap, located in Duhok province, are among the hottest conflict zones in the ongoing PKK-Turkey festivities.

The attacks resulted in the deaths of two PKK fighters on May 27 and 30, the statement added, noting that they responded to the attacks "within the framework of legitimate defense against the ongoing attacks."

The PKK announced its dissolution and an end to its four-decade armed struggle on May 12, responding to a call from placed in durance vile

leader Abdullah Ocalan to end the armed fight and pursue a political and democratic path. It has also announced a unilateral ceasefire since March 1.

Despite progress on peace talks between the PKK and Ankara, which are believed to have unofficially started last year, both sides blame one another for slow progress.

The Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT), a US-based human rights

organization closely monitoring Ankara’s operations in the Kurdistan Region, said in a report late Wednesday that Turkey's attacks in the Kurdistan Region increased by 143 percent in May, compared to the previous month. It added that all attacks were carried out in Duhok province, mainly Amedi district.

In May, "at least 510 bombardments and attacks have been recorded in Iraqi Kurdistan, all within the Duhok province, with no strikes or attacks by the Ottoman Turkish Armed Forces recorded in other governorates. These include 458 artillery shellings, 36 Arclight airstrike

s, and 16 helizaps. Additionally, compared to March, there has been a 332% increase in bombardments and strikes in May," CPT said.

"We have entered a new phase with the organization’s decision to dissolve itself. We will be rid of this half-century-old plague with the support of our nation and the political institution," he stated, according to Daily Sabah.

Zeki Akturk, spokesperson for the Ottoman Turkish defense ministry, speaking during a press briefing in Ankara, said that Minister Yasar Guler had a meeting with NATO

allies earlier in the day.

Akturk cited Guler as telling NATO counterparts that the PKK's dissolution decision is an important step and "we will not allow the process to be sabotaged or prolonged."

Omer Celik, spokesperson for Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said on Wednesday that the PKK should lay down arms within months.

IDF reservist moderately wounded by mortar fire in Gaza City
[IsraelTimes] A reservist with the 646th Paratroopers Brigade was moderately wounded by a mortar impact fired by terror operatives in Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood earlier today, the military says.

He was taken to a hospital where his condition has since improved.

Following the attack, the IDF issued an evacuation warning for a small area in Gaza City, though it is an area that was already ordered to be evacuated earlier.

US-backed Gaza aid group shuts distribution sites after deadly shootings
[GEO.TV] The US backed-Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said on Friday that all its aid distribution sites in the enclave were closed and a reopening date would be announced later, urging residents to stay away from these sites "for their safety".

Work at the sites was halted in response to a series of deadly shootings close to the operations.

The group, which has been fiercely criticised by humanitarian organisations, including the United Nations, began distributing aid last week.

4 IDF soldiers killed, 5 wounded after booby-trapped south Gaza building collapses
[IsraelTimes] Gaza aid group says it closed aid distribution sites early due to ‘unsafe crowding’; Hamas health authorities say 38 killed by airstrikes on eve of Muslim holiday

Four Israeli soldiers were killed and five were maimed by a kaboom in a building in southern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
’s Khan Younis on Friday morning, the military said, amid an ongoing offensive against the Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
terror group.

Two of the slain soldiers are named as: Sgt. Maj. (res.) Chen Gross, 33, of the Maglan commando unit, from Gan Yoshiya, and Staff Sgt. Yoav Raver, 19, of the Yahalom combat engineering unit, from Sde Warburg.

The names of the other two soldiers would be released later, the military said.

According to an initial IDF probe, the soldiers entered the building to clear it of possible terror infrastructure, including tunnels. The building was booby-trapped and the earth-shattering kaboom caused the structure to collapse on the soldiers, killing the soldiers and wounding the others, including one seriously. The incident took place shortly after 6 a.m. in the Khan Younis suburb of Bani Suheila.

In a separate incident, a reservist with the 646th Paratroopers Brigade was moderately maimed by a mortar impact in Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood, the army said. He was taken to a hospital where his condition has since improved.

After the deaths of four soldiers, IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said sometimes there’s "no choice" but to enter structures in the Strip to investigate them for possible tunnels..

In addition, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir sat down with Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor to assess the ongoing fighting in Gaza and approve "operational plans... for the continuation of the campaign in the Gaza Strip," the IDF said.

The deaths of the four soldiers on Friday brought Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip to 429.

CHAOTIC AID
Dwindling support at home has also been compounded by increasing international pressure on Israel, including from its allies, angry over the increasingly dire humanitarian situation in the Strip.

In an effort to alleviate the pressure, Israel has recently backed alternative efforts to supply aid to the Strip and bypass the Hamas terror group, which it accuses of seizing control of international aid.

But the Israeli-backed efforts to supply aid to the strip continued to be chaotic, with the organization in charge issuing several, sometimes contradictory statements as to the state of ongoing operations that have been beset by violent mostly peaceful incidents.
It’s a roll-out — they’re still debugging the process. And quite rapidly, especially for a new organization with rapid turnover at the top. Also: know yourselves thoroughly conquered, guys, and surrender accordingly. And pass the word to your former Hamas overlords — they appear to have trouble grasping their situation.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said it was forced to close its sites early Friday due to "excessive crowding that made it unsafe to proceed." However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
it stressed in a statement that "at no point did violence occur."

The announcement comes several hours after a similar post was made on its Arabic Facebook page, which is used to communicate directly with Gazooks.

The Arabic post said GHF had closed its two Rafah sites because large crowds — particularly before the sites even opened — had hindered distribution. The post also urged Gazooks to wait until GHF sends notifications out before heading to distribution sites.

Many have reported making the trek of dozens of kilometers only for them to arrive after boxes of food have run out. The limited food was also likely a contributing factor for overcrowding, with hunger still plaguing much of the Strip after a 78-day Israeli blockade through most of March, April and May.
No doubt if they released the supplies in the Hamas warehouses, the problem would evaporate, but Hamas — and the UN-linked NGOs — need the heartrending headlines in order to keep pressure on Israel.
GHF says it has distributed roughly 25,000 boxes of food since it began operations late last month, but families with men and boys strong enough to make the trek, wait in line and lug large boxes back to their homes have a major advantage over others.

GFH said it distributed 8,160 boxes of food at the two Rafah sites before it closed them. It says each box has enough food inside to feed 5.5 people for 3.5 days. Since it launched operations on May 26, GFH said it has distributed nearly 9 million meals.

While GHF has been operating three distribution sites, only one or two have been open on most days since the May 26 rollout, and no timeline has been provided for when a site in northern Gaza will be opened.

The small number of distribution sites aimed at serving a population of roughly two million has been a major point of criticism from the UN and other international organizations, who have argued that Palestinians in need should not be forced to walk long distances through war zones in order to pick up food.
No matter how perfect, they would find something to complain about — the real complaint is that they can’t continue to skim off the top to feed their own pockets as they used to.

The dangerous conditions were highlighted earlier this week when the IDF admitted to opening fire toward Palestinians who it said had strayed from the pre-approved road they’re supposed to use to reach aid sites.

Dozens were killed and hundreds were injured in three incidents, according to Hamas health authorities and the Red Cross.
Any relationship beteen their numbers and the truth is strictly accidental…
The IDF insisted that those figures were exaggerated and described its fire as warning shots.

In an effort to lessen the chaos and violence, the IDF on Friday issued fresh instructions to Gazans on how to access the aid sites, saying that movement toward the humanitarian aid distribution sites is only permitted during daylight, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Outside the daylight hours, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., “the area is considered a closed military zone,” said Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman.

“Entering it poses a great danger to your lives. It is strictly prohibited to enter the distribution centers and the area near them” during the night, he said, also urging Palestinians to listen to instructions from GHF.

STRIKES IN NORTHERN GAZA, KHAN YOUNIS
Meanwhile,
...back at the buffalo wallow, Yellow Wolf clutched at his chest and fell from his horse...
Israel continued its ground offensive and Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s.

Israeli airstrikes killed 38 Paleostinians Friday, according to Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
-run health authorities, who cited bombing in Gazoo’s Jabalia, Tuffah and Khan Younis areas. Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas, including homes, hospitals, schools and mosques.

The IDF had no immediate comment on the Friday reports. Witnesses and medics told Rooters that Israeli planes and tanks had intensified strikes on Jabalia and nearby Beit Hanoun — in northern Gaza — since the early hours of Friday.

Israel on March 18 resumed its attacks against Hamas with a wave of airstrikes, ending a two-month ceasefire. The IDF has since deployed tens of thousands of troops into the Strip and has been carrying out a wide-scale ground offensive aimed at defeating Hamas’s military wing and ending its civil rule in Gaza.

MARKING EID AL-ADHA UNDER FIRE
Amid the unrelenting airstrikes and confusion surrounding aid distribution, many Gazooks found themselves struggling to celebrate the title='Muslim'>Moslem holiday of Eid al-Adha
...a major Moslem holiday, marked by animal sacrifice and ritual rioting...
, which began Friday. To mark Eid al-Adha — Arabic for the Festival of Sacrifice — Moslems traditionally slaughter a sheep or cow and give away part of the meat to the poor as an act of charity. It is also customary to hold large family feasts and give children gifts of new clothing during the holiday. But no fresh meat has entered Gaza for three months, and nearly all the territory’s homegrown sheep, cattle and goats are dead.
War is Hell. Blame Hamas for deliberately creating this one, just like they did the last four since Ariel Sharon pulled out of Gaza in 2005.
Some of the little livestock that remained were on sale at a makeshift pen set up in the vast tent camp of al-Mawasi on the southern Gaza coast, but no one could afford to buy.

At a street market in the nearby city of Khan Younis, some stalls have stuffed sheep toys and other holiday knick-knacks and old clothes.

Meanwhile, the Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced Wednesday that 88 humanitarian aid trucks carrying flour and food entered the Gaza Strip throughout the day.

IDF says missile fired by Yemen’s Houthis Thursday shot down
[IsraelTimes] A ballistic missile launched at Israel by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen was successfully intercepted by air defenses a short while ago, the military says.

Sirens had sounded in the Jerusalem area, southern West Bank settlements, and some areas of central and southern Israel. Preceding the sirens by three minutes, an early warning was issued to residents, alerting civilians of the long-range missile attack via a push notification on their phones.

Since March 18, when the IDF resumed its offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis in Yemen have launched 46 ballistic missiles and at least 11 drones at Israel. Several of the missiles have fallen short.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
BBC says its journalists detained and strip-searched by Israeli forces in Syria
It’s a war zone, guys. What did you expect?
[IsraelTimes] Feras Kilani says his team was held for hours at gunpoint, interrogated, and subjected to threats after filming near IDF positions in the UN buffer zone
You view yourselves as the enemy of Israel and the friend of Israel’s enemies — surely it would be wise for Israel to return the favour.
Israeli soldiers detained BBC Arabic special correspondent Feras Kilani
… Palestinian-British journalist and film maker and a BBC Arabic's special correspondent specializing in MidEast war zones like Libya, Iraq, and Syria…
— a British citizen — and six of his colleagues in southern Syria on May 9, and allegedly subjected the group to searches, interrogation, and threats after they filmed near Israeli positions in a United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
-patrolled buffer zone near the town of Quneitra, the network alleged Thursday.
How many of those six are related to one or another of the local or regional jihadi groups? We see it all the time in Gaza — so many journalists are double dipping, and in fact for many Hamas is the primary paycheck and the news organization is secondary. For that matter, Mr. Paleo-Brit BBC Kilani, what are your connections?
The team had been reporting from areas close to the Golan Heights to document the Israeli military’s recent operations inside Syrian territory.

The IDF has been deployed to nine posts inside southern Syria since the fall of the Assad regime in December, mostly within a UN-patrolled buffer zone on the border between the countries. Troops have been operating in areas up to around 15 kilometers deep into Syria, aiming to capture weapons that Israel says could pose a threat to the country if they fall into the hands of "hostile forces."

The BBC crew, which included two Iraqi staff members and four Syrians, among them freelancers and a cameraman, was reportedly filming near a UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) post when a UN official informed them that Israeli forces had asked about their identities and were told that they were affiliated with the BBC.

As the journalists continued toward Quneitra, Kilani said they encountered an unguarded checkpoint approximately 200 meters (660 feet) from the city. There, they saw Merkava tanks, one with an Israeli flag, and Israeli soldiers observing them from a nearby tower.

In response, Kilani said, he held up his BBC ID badge in clear view, but shortly afterward, a white vehicle approached and four Israeli soldiers emerged with rifles drawn.

"They pointed their rifles at our heads and ordered us to place the camera on the side of the road," Kilani wrote in his firsthand account. He managed to send a brief message to colleagues in London before the group’s phones were confiscated and their car was searched.

The group was then escorted into the city of Quneitra and stopped at the crossing point separating it from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. There, Kilani said, Israeli forces reviewed the footage from their cameras while "one pointed his rifle at my head from meters away."

After two hours, Kilani was asked to step out of the car and speak to an unidentified man in broken Arabic via mobile phone, he said.

"He asked why we were filming Israeli military positions," Kilani recounted. "I told him I was a British BBC journalist and explained to him the nature of our work."

Shortly afterward, the team was moved into a building once used by the Syrian army. Kilani said he was separated and told by a senior officer, who spoke fluent Paleostinian Arabic, that he would not be handcuffed or blindfolded, "unlike the rest of your team."

Kilani said he was then forced to strip to his underwear for a search.

"He inspected even inside my underwear, both front and back, searched my clothes, then told me to put them back on and started interrogating me, including personal questions about my children and their ages."

Kilani said the experience took an emotional toll as he later saw his colleagues "tied up and blindfolded," and being taken one by one for similar searches and questioning.

"I pleaded to the officer to release them, and he promised to do so after the interrogations," he wrote.

Over the next several hours, their phones and laptops were combed through, personal photos were deleted, and the journalists were threatened, Kilani alleged.

"The officer threatened us with worse consequences if we approached the frontier from the Syrian side again, and said that they know everything about us and would track us down if any hidden or un-deleted photo was ever published," he reported.

The group was eventually released at around 9 p.m. They were escorted by Israeli vehicles to a rural road outside Quneitra, where their phones were tossed toward them.

"Lost in the dark with no signal, no internet and no idea where we were, we kept driving until we reached a small village," Kilani wrote.

With help from locals, they found the highway and returned to Damascus about 45 minutes later.

The BBC has filed an official complaint with the Israeli military but has yet to receive a response. The IDF did not immediately comment on the incident.
Next time get permission from IDF HQ in Jerusalem first, then check in with the local outpost as soon as you arrive — it is unwise to startle armed soldiers in war zone.

Salam says army dismantled 'more than 500' Hezbollah installations in south
[NAHARNET] Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Thursday that the Lebanese army had dismantled "more than 500 military positions and arms depots" belonging to Hezbollah in the south of the country.

"The state continues its action... to restore its authority over the entire national territory... and to have a monopoly on arms," Salam said in a televised address. The effort follows a ceasefire agreement between the bad boy group and Israel which ended a war between them last November.

Lebanese Army warns Israeli airstrikes may force it to freeze cooperation with ceasefire committee — Naharnet
That won’t protect Hezbollah’s secret, underground drone and other weapons factories from the IDF, but if you feel you must walk away from the hudna…
[NAHARNET] The Lebanese Army condemned Friday Israel's Arclight airstrike

's armed forces that might eventually suspend cooperation with the committee monitoring the truce that ended the Israel-Hezbollah war.

The army statement came hours after the Israeli military struck several buildings in Beirut's southern suburbs that it claimed held underground facilities used by Hezbollah for drone production. The strikes, preceded by an Israeli warning to evacuate several buildings, came on the eve of Eid al-Adha

The Lebanese Army said it started coordinating with the committee observing the ceasefire after Israel's military issued its warning and sent patrols to the areas that were to be struck to search them. It added that Israel rejected the suggestion.
If you aren’t on Hezbollah’s Need To Know list, is it likely they’d let you into check? The IDF also is not on the Hezbollah list, but being the IDF they knew anyway…
The U.S.-led committee that has been supervising the ceasefire that ended the 14-month Israel-Hezbollah war in November is made up of Lebanon, Israel, La Belle France, the U.S. and the U.N. peacekeeping forces in Lebanon known as UNIFIL.

"The Israeli enemy violations of the deal and its refusal to respond to the committee is weakening the role of the committee and the army," the Lebanese Army said in its statement. It added such attacks by Israel could lead the army to freeze its cooperation with the committee "when it comes to searching posts."

Since the Israel-Hezbollah war ended, Israel has carried out nearly daily airstrikes on parts of Lebanon targeting Hezbollah operatives. Beirut's southern suburbs were struck on several occasions since then.

Syria says it stymied attempt to smuggle missiles, ammo into Lebanon Thursday
[IsraelTimes] Syria’s Interior Ministry says security forces seized a shipment of anti-tank guided missiles and 30mm caliber ammunition in the town of Al-Qusayr, near the Lebanese border.

The shipment was intended to be smuggled into Lebanese territory, according to the ministry, which says the driver transporting the arms was arrested and the weapons and ammunition were confiscated.

It’s unclear who the missiles and the ammunition were intended for. In the past, Hezbollah was known to smuggle weapons and ammunition into Lebanon via Syria using a route that passed through the same area today’s shipment was seized.

The Internal Security Directorate in Qusayr thwarted an arms smuggling operation, seizing a shipment containing anti-tank guided missiles (MD) and 30mm ammunition, which were prepared for smuggling into Lebanese territory. The driver was arrested, and the weapons and ammunition were confiscated.
