-Short Attention Span Theater-
Osama was on herbal Viagra
[Emirates 24/7] The late Osama bin Laden's
... who had a brief but splitting headache...
fifth wife has claimed that the killed Al Qaeda leader was not on kidney dialysis, but used to take a herbal form of Viagra during his stay in his Pak compound.
That stuff doesn't work. Shoulda tried queen termites...
Supposedly it's a good cure for bed-wetting, though. Perhaps it's not impotence that was his issue.
According to media reports, bin Laden used to take the herbal impotence drug, Amal al-Sadeh. "He believed in his own medication," the wife said.

Osama bin Laden wasn't on kidney dialysis - but he did need a herbal impotence drug.

The New York Daily News quoted the Yemeni woman as saying that her husband had fully recovered from two kidney surgeries a decade ago, and that he needed no dialysis before his death, but cured himself with his own regimen, which included watermelons.

In January 2002, then-Pak President Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
had also claimed that the terrorist leader had probably already died of kidney failure, and that he needed to travel with two dialysis machines.

Now however, evidence from the medicine cabinet in Bin Laden's hideout has revealed that he was not that weak as he was expected to be.

"He was neither weak nor frail," 29-year-old Sadeh said.

The medicines that were found in the compound reportedly included drugs to treat shingles, ulcers, nerve pain, high blood pressure, and Avena syrup, an extract of wild oats that is marketed as a natural "Viagra".

#1  "Two kidney surgeries" = KIDNEY TRANSPLANTS???

MORE THAN TWO KIDNEY TRANSPLANT SURGERIES???

IMO it does explain why he seemingly had no Dialysis machines present before the Abbottabad raid, but does not confirm or deny any need by OBL as per DIABETIC MEDICS = GLUCOSE PILLS? INSULIN?

PANCREATIC TRANSPLANT???

I could be wrong, but in the US-released video of a blanketed OBL safehouse watching news on himself on TV, inside his Abbottabad compound, OSAMA APPEARS TO ME TO HAD GAINED [regained?] WATER WEIGHT AS THE LEFT SIDE OF HIS FACE APPEARED ABNORMALLY PUFFY OR ENLARGED, as is common wid diabetics???

ALL THINGS EQUAL, ABOVE = only convinces me more that OBL physical health was problematic or in decline, + that unlike times before he may had no choice but to stop roaming or moving around to escape capture by the US-Allies.

Again, I could be wrong - I would like to see other videos of Osama alive at Abbottabad.

FYI NET NEWS > IRAN = claims to have proof that OBL "DIED OF STROKE" YEARS AGO.

#2  OTOH TOPIX > [JPost] BIN LADEN WAS AN "ARSENAL" FAN [soccer], QUOTED DE GAULLE [ + WW2 British General Bernard "Monty" Montgomery].

OBL also liked VOLLEYBALL + [white]HORSES.

Yeeeepppp, although in my memory his appreciation of soccer came later in life.

I still have a deep respect for Osama's dedication to Islam + interpretation of historical events.

Unfortunately for Osama, he will miss his favorite 1960's = 1980's MTV Babe WHITNEY HUSTON going into rehab.

Afghanistan
New Afghan Movement Urges Parliament to Pressure Government
[Tolo News] A newly formed anti-Taliban movement Baseej-e-Melli (National Mobilisation) on Tuesday urged Afghan parliament to press the government to bring reforms suggested by the movement.

The movement, formed by former Afghan spy chief Amrullah Saleh, at its first gathering on Thursday last week warned that the government should not make people rise up and to take to the streets against it.

Reforms in the government system, real peace, opening of national assembly based on the constitution and government accountability were the main demands put forward.

The movement has submitted a resolution to the Afghan House of Representatives to apply pressure on the government to pursue the movement's demands.

A front man for Baseej-e-Melli movement, Sayed Azhar, said "presenting our resolution to the parliament we want the house to press the government to bring necessary reforms."

"If concerns of big political parties and people are left unaddressed, Afghanistan will sink into a new complicated political crisis," Ahmad Behzad, Deputy Speaker of the House, said.

The first gathering of the movement was participated by thousands including some members of the parliament, politicians and Kabul citizens wearing green ribbons emblazoned with the name of the movement.

Arabia
Al-Zayyani: GCC Initiative is Suitable to Tackle the Crises in Yemen
[Yemen Post] The head of GCC, Abdul Atief Al-Zayyani said that discussions are still continuing to achieve a suitable agreement between the two differing political sides in Yemen, the ruling General People Congress party and the Joint Meeting Party, in order to solve the current crisis in Yemen.

Al-Zayyani mentioned in an interview with the Saudi newspaper, Okaz, that the GCC leaders are determined that the GCC initiative is suitable to solve the crises and it is satisfied with the stance of both the opposition and the ruling party.

He confirmed that the GCC initiative aims to help the Yemeni people, ''Our aim from the GCC initiative to help our brothers in Yemen. we also work to ensure security and stability in the country. ''

The GCC offered an initiative to solve the current crises in Yemen between the tuling GPC and the opposition, but it was stalled because Yemen's President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower...
rejected to sign the agreement.

President-for-Life Saleh
... exemplifying the Arab's propensity to combine brutality with incompetence...
has been facing nationwide protests since the beginning of February demanding his immediate ouster.

Bin Laden sparks big scuffle in Kuwait
[Emirates 24/7] A big fist fight broke out at a mosque in Kuwait after several Mohammedans tried to stop others from performing prayers for the late Osama bin Laden,
... who has left the building...
who was killed by US troops in northwest Pakistain last week.
Good for them. They're the ones who have to take back the religion from the jihadis and their supporters.
Several people were maimed in the scuffle, in which fists, sticks and head gears were used,
Translation issue, no doubt. Surely they weren't hitting one another with orthodonture devices.
before a large police force intervened and stopped the fight, newspapers in the emirate said on Tuesday.

Police tossed in the clink many people involved in the scuffle at the mosque near a cemetery in Kuwait City, the papers said.

"The scuffle was triggered when some worshippers decided to intervene and stop other worshippers from performing prayers for bin Laden at the mosque," 'Al Watan' newspaper said.

"Police units, who were already outside, raided the mosque and stopped the fight...many people were maimed and others were tossed in the clink."

#3  It's gratifying to see that some Kuwaitis remain grateful to Uncle Sam for preventing Kuwait from becoming an Iraqi province. All this in spite of the fact that Kuwait paid us $10b for Desert Storm. Meanwhile, Europe, despite blood ties and the sacrifice of 400K American lives and huge amounts of American treasure during 2 wars on European soil, remains as eager as ever to stick it to Uncle Sam.

Bangladesh
Reform or disband Rab: HRW
[Bangla Daily Star] Human Rights Watch
... dedicated to bitching about human rights violations around the world...
on Tuesday urged the government to disband the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) if it fails to reform the force in the next six months.

Brad Adams, executive director of the organisation's Asia division, made the call while revealing a survey report titled 'Human Rights Abuses by Rab'' at Brac Centre Inn in the city.
So, Brad, hows about you discuss it with the guy pictured on the right? I'm sure he's a big teddy bear...
The survey prepared by the New York-based rights organisation showed that nearly 700 people were killed in Rab 'crossfire' since its inception in 2004. Of them, 200 were killed during the present government regime.

Adams said inclusion of army personnel in Rab was not right as the trainings of army and law enforcers are different.

He explained that the army personnel were provided with defensive training. For this, they consider their opponents as enemies and use arms, resulting in a bigger number of deaths.

On the other hand, Rab is working for the country's citizen as well for maintaining law and order.

Adams termed impractical the government and Rab statement that there is no extra-judicial killing by the elite force.

He claimed that there is a lack of transparency in the activities of the force.

Referring to a high-level meeting of the government, he said they got information that Rab is also involved in some "contractual killing".

But, they did not conduct any survey in this regard, he added.
1. Have you been killed in the last month?
2. If you were killed, did you know your killer, or was it a professional?

Grenade attackers fled by Al Markajul ambulance
[Bangla Daily Star] Perpetrators of the August 21, 2004 grenade attack on an Awami League rally decamped the scene in an ambulance provided by a non-government organisation Al Markajul Islami Bangladesh.

The criminal masterminds of the attack also had a series of planning meetings in the NGO's office in the capital.

Al Markajul Islam Vice-chairman Moulana Abdul Rashid, who had been picked up by the Criminal Investigation Department on Sunday, gave the information in a statement to the Sherlocks yesterday, said CID officials.

CID Special Superintendent Abdul Kahar Akand, who is the investigation officer of the case, told The Daily Star, "We summoned Rashid to the CID headquarters at Malibagh to quiz him about what he knows regarding the attack, and recorded his statement."

Asked about the planning meetings held in Al Markajul office, and supplying of an ambulance for the fleeing attackers, the CID investigator declined to make any comment.

But other CID sources said Rashid claimed that jugged Harkatul Jihad al Islami (HuJI)
Founded in 1984 by Fazlur Rehman Khalil and Qari Saifullah Aktar. The Bangla branch was established in 1992 with assistance from Osama bin Laden. Recruits come mostly from Deobandi madrassahs. HuJI and Fazlur Rehman Khalil are signators of bin Laden's declaration of war on the west.
founder Abdus Salam, HuJI chief Mufti Abdul Hannan, acting chiefs Moulana Sheikh Farid and Abdul Hannan Sabbir, and Pakistain-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Moulana Tajuddin, who is currently a runaway, were among the bully boy leaders who held meetings several times in the NGO's office, leading up to the attack.

But as all participants in the meetings were senior bully boy leaders and as his bigwigs allowed them to hold the meetings in the office, he could not protest; and Al Markajul Islami supplied an ambulance on request of the bully boy leaders, without knowing that the vehicle would be used in the attack, CID officials quoted Rashid as saying.

Rashid, 60, of Gopalganj district was picked up from his office in Shyamoli, based on information provided by tossed in the calaboose HuJI leader Moulana Sheikh Farid, who is now on remand.

The sources said in the statement Rashid admitted that Al Markajul Islami Bangladesh was involved in the attack, but denied his own involvement.

Rashid was released last night after interrogation, said his son Hafez Abdullah.

Moulana Sayeed Nur, acting chairman of the NGO, however said on Sunday night, "The allegation is baseless.
Tut tut, my good man! And tut!
we never thought of such a heinous act."

Chairman of the NGO, Mufti Shahidul Islam, who had been tossed in the calaboose and sentenced to jail on tax evasion charges, got out on bail and is currently on the run.

Funded by Middle Eastern countries, Al Markajul Islami is a service oriented NGO that mainly provides services for burial, and for transporting dead bodies and patients.

Former BNP state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar, former deputy minister Abdus Salam Pintu, two former directors general of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) -- Maj Gen (retd) Rezzaqul Haider Chowdhury and Brig Gen (retd) M Abdur Rahim -- are also tossed in the calaboose in the case.

CID earlier submitted a charge sheet accusing 22 people in the case, but the court directed the department to investigate further to find out the sources of the grenades, and the supplier.

Twenty-four people, including AL leader Ivy Rahman, were killed and more than 300 others were maimed in the grenade attack on the AL rally.

China-Japan-Koreas
Lee Dangles Invite to Nuclear Summit Before Kimmie
President Lee Myung-bak says he will invite Kim Jong-il to an international nuclear summit in South Korea next year if the North Korean leader makes a firm commitment to scrapping his nuclear weapons program.
Let's see how inventive the Norks can be on breaking that promise...
In Berlin on Monday on the first leg of his three-nation tour of Europe, Lee said, "If North Korea agrees with the international community to commit firmly to denuclearization, I will offer North Korean leader Kim Jong-il to attend the nuclear security summit." in Seoul next March.

He was speaking at a press conference after a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Lee added that the nuclear summit would be a "good opportunity" for the North and that it would see a brighter future if it joins the international community.

Lee said North Korea's commitment to denuclearization would be demonstrated by apologizing for the attacks against the Navy corvette Cheonan and Yeonpyong Island last year. An apology is also a prerequisite to resuming the stalled six-party nuclear talks and other inter-Korean business, he added.

Earlier, Lee told Korean residents in Germany on Sunday, "We are seeking an apology from North Korea. It must acknowledge its wrongdoings to ensure that such acts are not repeated." An official at the presidential office, providing the customary gloss on presidential remarks, said, "It is important for North Korea to allow back nuclear inspectors and halt its uranium enrichment program." He added that the North's denuclearization efforts need to be acknowledged by the international community by setting a deadline.

Lee also told the Korean expatriates that Korean reunification is inevitable because it is better for the Korean people.

N.Korea denies cyber-attack on S. Korea bank
[Asia One] North Korea's defence ministry on Tuesday denied it carried out a cyber-attack on one of South Korea's largest banks, calling allegations that was behind last month's hacking "absurd" and a "farce".
"Wudn't us."
South Korean prosecutors say the North brought down the computer system of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, or Nonghyup, by hacking into an official's laptop and operating it remotely as a "zombie computer".

In a statement to the official Korean Central News Agency the North said Seoul's accusation was "just absurd argument based on unreasonable ground," and an "anachronistic anti-DPRK (North Korea) farce and charade."

Citing an unnamed defence ministry front man, the statement demanded Seoul "discard its bad habit of finding fault with others", decrying the incident as "one more farce staged against the nation."

The attack on Nonghyup, which has about 5,000 branches, left thousands of customers unable to access their money for three days, prompting South Korea to demand its rival stop "reckless cyber-terrorism".

South Korea said the North had planned the "unprecedented cyber-terror" to wipe out all data in Nonghyup's computers using IP addresses and codes from an overseas computer server identical to those it had used in previous attacks.

Pyongyang, citing unnamed experts, said the IP addresses came from the United States, Japan or South Korea.

The system crash that started on April 12 left Nonghyup customers unable to withdraw or transfer money, use credit cards or take out loans.

It temporarily deleted records of some of Nonghyup's 5.4 million credit card customers, leaving Nonghyup unable to bill customers or settle payments to retailers. Services were partially restored after three days.

Seoul accused Pyongyang of staging cyber-attacks on websites of major South Korean government agencies and financial institutions in March this year and in July 2009.

The 2009 attack also temporarily shut websites in the United States, but US officials did not reach a conclusion on who was responsible.

Experts say the North maintains elite hacker units prompting the South to set up a specific military command to combat them. Intelligence officials believe some North Korean hackers are based in China.

Legal trouble for US over drones
[Arab News] A human rights
...which often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
group says it is searching for ways to use the British and American legal system to pursue those behind the drone strikes in Pakistain's tribal belt.

Reprieve Director Clive Stafford-Smith, a London-based lawyer who has fought for Guantanamo detainees, says there are «endless ways in which the courts in Perfidious Albion, the courts in America, the international courts and Pak courts can get involved" in legal bids to block the drone strikes.

Stafford-Smith gave few details of his proposed legal campaign Monday, but Reprieve has seen past success in defending those caught up in the US campaign against international terrorism.

The legal advocacy group has represented several Guantanamo Bay detainees, including UK resident Binyam Mohamed.

#1  This may sound counterintuitive, but I wish Stafford-Smith much luck with his initiative, it has been long in coming. I have always believed a Congressionally approved, formal Declaration of War, limited, time-lined or otherwise, should have preceeded such events. Cross-border Predator missions flying hither and yawn whacking people via kinetic strikes should not be the focus of the Central Intelligence Agency. To be perfectly blunt, I fear a quasi-military, organization with this type of unfettered authority, classified budget line and perhaps so should everyone else. We celebrate our "civilian control of the military." Where lies the "control" of 'these' people?

Yesterday the Agency announced it would permit members of the US Congress to review detailed imagery from the recent Abbottabot raid, but they (members of Congress) would have to contact the Agency and set up appointments. How considerate of them, and generous of their time and resources.

The Grand Turk
Turkish politicians resign over sex tapes
[Emirates 24/7] Two more top Turkish opposition politicians have resigned ahead of next month's general election after secretly filmed tapes posted on the Internet reportedly showed them having extramarital affairs.

The resignations on Tuesday raised to four the number of far-right Nationalist Action Party politicians forced to withdraw from the June 12 elections. Two other politicians resigned last month after similar sex tapes emerged.

Party leader Devlet Bahceli says the tapes aim to harm his party and has suggested that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's supporters may be behind them.

Opinion surveys show the far-right party hovering close to a 10 percent support threshold that is designed to keep smaller parties out of Turkey's parliament.

India-Pakistan
Evidence at bin Laden’s home raises nuclear concerns
Intelligence analysts are sifting through phone numbers and email addresses found at Osama bin Laden’s compound to determine potential links to Pakistani government and military officials while U.S. officials and analysts raise concerns about the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear materials.

According to three U.S. intelligence officials, the race is on to identify what President Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, has called bin Laden’s “support system” inside Pakistan. These sources sought anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to reporters.

“My concern now is that we cannot exclude the possibility that officers in the Pakistani military and the intelligence service were helping to harbor or aware of the location of bin Laden,” said Olli Heinonen, who served as the deputy director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 2005 to 2010.

“What is to say they would not help al Qaeda or other terrorist groups to gain access to sensitive nuclear materials such as highly enriched uranium and plutonium?”

Mr. Rothman said al Qaeda operatives in 2009 “came within 60 kilometers of what is believed to have been Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal,” though he could not elaborate on the incident.

“Two years ago, al Qaeda came close, too close for comfort,” Mr. Rothman said. “That resulted … in new safeguards and new measures taken by the United States and Pakistan and others to minimize any possibility of anyone acquiring the Pakistani nuclear weapons or material.”

Pakistan is neither a member of the IAEA nor a party to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Nonetheless, it has agreed to some IAEA safeguards on its civil nuclear program, but nothing comprehensive.

Analysts estimate Pakistan to have more than 100 nuclear weapons. The latest estimate by Princeton University’s International Panel on Fissile Materials, which takes account of the world’s nuclear material, estimates that Pakistan possesses between 1.6 tons and 3.8 tons of weapons-grade uranium and between 132 pounds and 286 pounds of plutonium.

“Up to now, the Pakistanis have said the nuclear material is under military and ISI control and particularly the plutonium and highly enriched uranium,” Mr. Heinonen said. “These are from facilities that are not under IAEA control at all.”

A Feb. 19, 2009, cable from the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad said the nuclear arsenal is “under the control of the secular military, which has implemented extensive physical, personnel and command and control safeguards.”

“Our major concern has not been that an Islamic militant could steal an entire weapon but rather the chance someone working in [Pakistani government] facilities could gradually smuggle enough fissile material out to eventually make a weapon and the vulnerability of weapons in transit,” said the cable, which was released Wednesday by the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks.

The cable was prepared in anticipation of the February 2009 visit to Washington of Gen. Ashfaq Kayani, who is chief of staff of Pakistan's military. In it, the cable also acknowledged how the ISI and Pakistani army have elements that still support terrorist groups.

“We need to lay down a clear marker that Pakistan’s Army/ISI must stop overt or tacit support for militant proxies. … We should preface that conversation with an agreement to open a new page in relations; Kayani, who was ISI Chief from 2004-2007, does not want a reckoning with the past,” the cable said.

#1  under the control of the secular military, which has implemented extensive physical, personnel and command and control safeguards. I doubt the 'secular' part of this statement. It's highly likely the Pak nuke security is riddled with Islamists.
I wouldn't be that surprised if some day a Pak nuke goes off -- inside Pakistan.

Whoopy-doo! You or I can get within 60 km of US nukes any day of the week. It's the last km that's tough (or had better be.)

No formal US request to access bin Laden family
Pakistain's foreign ministry said Tuesday it had yet to receive a formal request from the United States for access to relatives of the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now among the dear departed, though not among the dearest...
who are being interrogated by Pak officials.
Would that be like how they never received paperwork for CIA contractor Davis, though it was submitted at least thrice?
"The ministry of foreign affairs has not received a formal request from the United States," said foreign ministry spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua when asked if Pakistain would grant American Sherlocks access to the family.

The White House has asked Islamabad to help counter growing mistrust by granting US Sherlocks access to three of bin Laden's widows found in his compound who could have vital information on Al-Qaeda.
Oh. So they have received a request, just not a formal request. How clever someone is being, to be sure.
A Pak military official told AFP that "so far no decision in this regard has been taken" when asked when Pakistain would grant such access.

"The family's under treatment, they are under protective custody," he said.

Janjua said that no extradition requests been received from the countries of origin of bin Laden's wives -- Yemen and Soddy Arabia.

A US official had earlier told AFP that the United States expects that Pakistain will allow it to question the women "soon" but provided no details.

US and Pak agents will both want to know exactly how much his widows know about how bin Laden came to the Pak city of Abbottabad and who may have been helping him to survive in his hideout -- along with the family -- for up to five years.

Tensions have run high between the two anti-terror allies in the wake of the US commando raid that killed bin Laden, the world's most wanted man, in his compound near the Pak capital.

The United States has demanded an investigation as to how the Al-Qaeda chief could have lived for years in a garrison city less than a mile from a top military academy and only 35 miles (56 kilometers) from Islamabad.

Pakistain has criticised the raid and denied sheltering the man believed to have criminal masterminded the September 11, 2001 attacks, which killed 3,000 people.

Sovereignty at stake, says Nawaz
[Dawn] Pakistain Mohammedan League-N chief Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Müslim League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
said on Monday that the recent US operation to kill Al Qaeda leader the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now among the dear departed, though not among the dearest...
in Abbottabad had put the country`s illusory sovereignty at stake.

Talking to newsmen at the residence of former Lahore district nazim Mian Amir Mahmood, the PML-N leader said the country faced a dangerous situation which called for national unity.

"The Abbottabad operation was a serious attack on the illusory sovereignty of Pakistain and the nation is looking at recent developments with concern and wants to know who is responsible for the situation," he said. He said the incidents of (release of) US spy Raymond Davis and killing of Osama bin Laden threatened the solidarity and integrity of the country.

He warned that the country`s independence, illusory sovereignty and honour would be at stake if such incidents were ignored.

Mr Sharif said the country, which was already facing immense problems, could not deal with any more difficulties.

Recalling his statement that President Asif Ali President Ten Percent Zardari
... sticky-fingered husband of the late Benazir Bhutto ...
was a threat to democracy and national integrity, the PML-N leader said it was for the media to judge whether he was right or wrong.

"Everything I had said about the president a year and a half ago has now been proven to be true."

Differences threaten Adezai lashkar
[Dawn] Differences have cropped up among the leaders of Adezai Qaumi Lashkar over the deployment of law-enforcers in their area, raising fears that their adversary, the Taliban, may exploit the situation, police sources say.

An official said that Dilawar Khan, who heads lashkar, and his deputy Fazal Malik were not ready to accept each other`s leadership any longer.

"Most of the coppers and Frontier Constabulary personnel have been deployed near the residence of Fazal Malik but Dilawar Khan wants them to perform duty according to his wishes," he added.

The differences had been simmering between their two clans since the former head of the lashkar, Haji Abdul Malik, was killed in a suicide kaboom in 2009, he said. Some local elders resolved the issue and Dilawar was made head of the peace body.

The official said that both the top leaders of the anti-Taliban body had developed differences over raids and arrest of people in different areas. Besides, he said, political affiliations also caused differences between them as Dilawar belonged to Pakistain Mohammedan League -Q and the other group was associated with Awami National Party.

Dilawar Khan, when contacted, said that night duties were mostly performed by his own men as he had only four coppers under his command while FC and maximum coppers were deployed near the residence of Fazal Malik.

He said that his people were performing night duties as Taliban were sending threats to them every day by telephones and they could attack his residence anytime.

"I have to remain alert but the government is not supporting me," Mr Khan complained. He said that police within its resources were extending support to anti-Taliban volunteers but the issue was so serious that it needed proper allocations of funds and deployment of law enforcement agencies in the sensitive areas.

He said that he had already conveyed his reservations to the officials concerned and apprised them of the current situation. He said that people had attached great expectations with anti-Taliban volunteers but they would not be able to come up to the expectations unless all coppers and FC in the area were given under a single command.

He feared if his suggestions were not taken serious the peace body would be unable to protect schools, power pylons and buildings.

Fazal Malik, when contacted, denied that he had any differences with Dilawar Khan and said that main issue was deployment of police in the area. He said that one platoon of FC and six coppers had been deployed there but the number was insufficient to cover the entire area.

"Yes, one platoon of FC has been deployed near my residence but 12 of them are head-constables, who are not ready to perform the duty of constables," he said. He added that there were only six constables in the platoon and they could cover only three entry points.

Mr Malik said that about 30 members of his family, including some leading commanders of the lashkar, had been killed and the remaining were performing duties but most of them were underage. He said that efforts were made to plug all the entry points but it was impossible owing to shortage of manpower.

"I have covered my area but night patrol with existing number of police is impossible," he said.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Quartet backs Abbas, Fayyad-led government
[Ma'an] The Quartet
... The Quartet are the UN (xylophone), the United States (alto), the European Union (soprano), and Russia (shortstop). The group was established in Madrid in 2002 by former Spanish Prime Minister Aznar, as a result of the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Tony Blair is the Quartet's current Special Envoy....
trusts President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
because he is committed to the grinding of the peace processor, head of mission Gary Grappo told Ma'an on Tuesday.

Abbas hopes that Israel and the PA "will go back to negotiations in order to establish a Paleostinian state," Grappo said.

"The Quartet's stance is statehood with an agreement first instead of unilateral options."

Grappo said the Quartet was in full support of Paleostinian unity, but noted bias for caretaker Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
...Fayyad's political agenda holds that neither violence nor peaceful negotiations have brought the Paleostinians any closer to an independent state. The alternative to both, violent negotiations, doesn't seem to be working too well, either...
"The west will not be concerned or alarmed" by the change if Fayyad stays, he said.

If a new prime minister is appointed, he added, the Quartet will evaluate its position.

Peace talks between Israel and Abbas ground to a halt weeks after the began in September when Israel refused to renew a partial halt on West Bank settlement construction.

The Paleostinians said they would not continue talks as long as Israel was building on land they want for a promised state.

#2  The list does not include US Govt-named, alleged AQ "rising star" + ex-PAK Commando IILYAS KASHMIRI of the HUJI MilTerr Group, from yesterday's MSM-Net News???

All thing equal, AYMAN ZAWAHIRI'S greatest single drawback to taking over fully from Osama is his AGE, despite support for him from the major AQ Affiliates [AQIM, AQI, AQAP aka AQIY, + now Al-Shabaab] as their preferred Osama successor - the only AQ Affiliates missing is AQ-in-TransJordan + AQ-in-Gaza.

* TOPIX/WORLD NEWS > VARIOUS > AWLAKI + ADAM GADAHN = "HAVE THE WILL, BUT NOT THE CREDENTIALS OR THE STATURE" [yet] widing Al-Qaeda + Radical Islam to takeover from Osama. IIUC, not yet to even challenge or oppose AYMAN ZAWAHIRI'S ASCENSION.

The above being said, Al-QAEDA = "CORE AL-QAEDA/QAIDA" is no different than any other MilTerr organization in having field forces composed mostly of young men whom want their Senior + Top Leader(s) to routinely lead from the front. IFF AYMAN DESIRES TO TAKEOVER SO-CALLED "CORE AQ'S" REINS FROM OSAMA, HE CANNOT IGNORE OR CIRCUMVENT THEM.

looks like the US is bent on testing PAK claims to use mil force in defense of its sovereignty the next time the US conducts a unilateral domestic covert raid, espec iff Islamabad desires for the US Congress to keep approving US$3.0 Biyuhn a year in US Aid to Pakistan for the GWOT, AT LEAST THRU YEAR 2013 = POTUS BAMMER FIRST TERM???
