Retiring Soetoro holdover Rasmussen takes parting shot at 2nd Amendment
[The Hill] The retiring head of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) warned ahead of his exit Friday about the ability for extremists in the U.S. to get lethal weapons.

In a final briefing with reporters ahead of his departure, NCTC Director Nicholas Rasmussen voiced concern about the ability to protect from mass casualty attacks.

"We find ourselves in a more dangerous situation because our population of violent extremists has no difficulty gaining access to weapons that are quite lethal," Rasmussen said, according to The Washington Post. "I wish that weren’t so."
Could he be making the connection between highly lucrative drug trafficking networks and gun running ?
Rasmussen, who served as the NCTC's director for three of his five years there, said he had no solutions to offer domestic law enforcement agencies working to prevent mass-casualty attacks, but said a link between the availability of guns and the potential for violence is a calculation for counterterrorism analysts.

Guns have been widely available in this country for a long time. That's not the link he should worry about. How about the seeping in of corruption to the Feral government?

The 2nd Amendment stands between the people and tyranny but then I'm preaching to the choir. How about government-sponsored gun running, drug importation and opening the flood gates to illegal immigrants?

Pence visits Afghanistan, reiterates US stance on terror safe havens in Pakistan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The US Vice President Mike Pence arrived to Afghanistan in an unannounced visit to meet with the Afghan officials and US military based in the country.

In his speech to the US military in Bagram airfield, Vice President Pence reiterated Washington’s stance regarding the terror safe havens in Pakistain.

He said "For too long Pakistain has provided safe haven to the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and many terrorist organizations, but those days are over. President Trump has put Pakistain on notice."

"As the President said, so I say now: Pakistain has much to gain from partnering with the United States, and Pakistain has much to lose by continuing to harbor criminals and terrorists," he added.

This comes as the US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
had earlier expressed concerns regarding the terror safe havens posing threats to Afghanistan and the United States.

President Trump in his new national security strategy has stated that the United States continues to face threats from transnational snuffies and holy warriors operating from within Pakistain.

UK designates ‘Hasm’, ‘Liwaa el-Thawra’ militant groups in Egypt as 'terrorist'
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Britannia says it has designated two murderous Moslem groups targeting Egyptian security personnel and public figures as "terrorist" organizations.

The British Embassy in Egypt says in a statement Friday that Britannia has added the Hasm movement
...one of the NeverSisi militant arms of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, it sprang into existence, fully formed, in October, 2016. Greater Cairo is its area of operations, police checkpoints its targets of choice. Hasm apparently means "decisiveness" in Arabic...
and Liwaa el-Thawra
...“The Revolution Brigade“, another militant arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, appeared shortly after Hasm, and like it may contain personnel from previous MB armed factions. Both groups apparently reported to Mohammed Kamel, who organized special cells for the MB until he was killed by security forces in a hail of gunfire about the time the two groups appeared...
group to its list of terrorist organizations after reviewing attacks claimed by both groups and finding they meet the criteria.

It also said the move will boost its "capacity to disrupt the activities of these terrorist organizations."

Both groups have targeted mainly Egyptian security forces in bombings and drive-by shootings. Egyptian authorities believe they are splinter factions of the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund group.

Militant attacks have increased dramatically in Egypt since the military's 2013 ouster of President Mohammed Morsi, a senior Brotherhood figure.

The British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson affirmed that the UK will not leave Egypt alone in its fight against terrorism and expressed his concern in the statement.

Egyptian authorities say the two groups, each of which have grabbed credit for armed attacks in Egypt, are armed factions of the Moslem Brüderbund group.

The Egyptian authorities banned the Moslem Brüderbund and declared it a terrorist organization after deposing President Mohammed Morsi, who belonged to it in 2013 during mass protests over his one-year rule.

Yemen’s Saleh was ‘assassinated’ by Iranian Guards
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The private lawyer of Yemen’s former President former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
said on Thursday that the slain leader was killed by members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

Mohammed al-Masuri referred to what he called an "liquidation" and that the Guards had planned to kill Saleh with the help of the Iranian-backed Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militia.

Masuri pledged he would soon reveal further details of Iran’s involvement in Saleh’s killing, as well as details on the scale of Iran’s presence in Yemen.

According to Al Arabiya sources, this is the third confirmation of Iran’s involvement in Saleh’s killing at his home in Sanaa on December 4, following his call for a popular uprising against the Houthi militia ‐ switching sides after he had been allied to them in recent years.

Security Council Tightens Economic Vise on North Korea, Blocking Fuel, Ships and Workers
[NYTIMES] The United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
Security Council imposed new sanctions on North Korea on Friday that significantly choke off new fuel supplies and order North Koreans working overseas to return home within two years, in what may prove the last test of whether any amount of economic pressure can force it to reverse course on its nuclear program.

The sanctions, adopted by a vote of 15 to 0, were the third imposed this year in an escalating effort to force the North into negotiations. China and Russia joined in the resolution, though American officials have charged that in recent months the Russians have secretly been opening new links to the North, including new internet connections that give the country an alternative to communicating primarily through China.

Under the new sanctions, oil exports will be limited to their current level, which has already begun to result in shortages around the country. Countries around the world will be ordered to expel North Korean workers, a key source of hard currency. Nations would also be urged to inspect all North Korean shipping and halt ship-to-ship transfers of fuel, which the North has used to evade sanctions.

But the resolution does not permit countries to hail and board North Korean ships in international waters, which the Trump administration proposed earlier this year. That would be the most draconian measure, because it would enable the United States Navy and its Pacific allies to create a cordon around the country, though Pentagon officials say it would also carry a high risk of triggering a firefight between North Korea and foreign navies.

Day 3: Melbourne CBD attack: Alleged Flinders Street driver Saeed Noori rambled about Allah and ASIO
[TheAge] Flinders Street driver Saeed Noori rambled about Allah, Australia's spy agency ASIO and the mistreatment of Moslems in the hours after the attack, police say.

Police revealed more on Friday afternoon about what the 32-year-old drug addict told them as Sherlocks continue to search for a motive behind the rampage.

It comes as Mr Noori was discharged from hospital and into police custody, where he is set to spend the night before being formally interviewed by homicide detectives on Saturday. He has not yet been charged.

Acting Chief Commissioner Shane Patton said police have not ruled out terrorism, but the only clue that suggested a possible link was what Mr Noori told Sherlocks in St Vincent's Hospital on Thursday night.

Police searched Mr Noori's home in Heidelberg West, where he was living with a relative, and the home of family in Oak Park. They seized computers and materials which, so far, have not revealed any motivation.

ASIO had nothing in its intelligence holdings on Mr Noori, Mr Patton said.

It would almost be easier to explain, Mr Patton said, if it were a clear-cut case of terrorism.

Three people remain in a critical condition, the worst of whom is an 83-year-old man from Northcote in Melbourne's north. The four-year-old South Korean boy from Hoppers Crossing remains in a stable condition.

Mr Noori, who police said had a long history of drug abuse and mental illness, has a prior criminal history of unlicensed driving, using a mobile phone while driving and failing to answer bail. He was not on bail at the time of Thursday's attack, police said.

He was voluntarily subject to a mental health plan with a local hospital.

Police are still tracing Mr Noori's movements from Thursday. The car he was driving, a white Suzuki, belonged to someone in his family.

Mr Noori arrived in Australia from Afghanistan at 18 in 2004 before becoming a citizen in 2006.

He spent recent years in Melbourne's northern suburbs, far removed from the heartland of the city's Afghan population in the outer south-east. He regularly walked home from the hospital where he received treatment for his mental illness. It's believed he previously worked in a trade.
Millennia of inbreeding has resulted in all sorts of mental and physical problems in that part of the world, and drugs only make that worse.

Turkish police arrest 15 senior military officers over coup attempt
[Ynet] More arrests are taking place in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
following last year's coup attempt‐and this time its senior military officials; more than 50,000 people are nabbed
You have the right to remain silent...
by President Erdogan's government.

Ottoman Turkish police arrested 15 senior military officers in an investigation into the network of a US-based holy man who Ankara accuses of orchestrating last year’s attempted coup, state-run Anadolu news agency said on Friday.

It said police were seeking one more officer in the operation, focused on the capital Ankara and spread across nine provinces, adding that 12 of the total 16 suspects were serving officers.

Among the suspects were seven colonels and nine lieutenant colonels from Turkey’s gendarmerie force, which maintains security in rural areas, the Hurriyet news website said.

Police operations targeting alleged followers of Gulen have been conducted on a near daily basis since the coup attempt in July 2016, and authorities issued arrest warrants for 44 teachers on Friday, Anadolu said.

The suspects were former teachers at Gulen-linked schools which were previously closed by state decree, Anadolu said. Twenty-eight of the teachers were arrested so far.

Schools linked to Gulen’s network have been established across Asia, Africa and the United States and since the putsch, Turkey has asked countries including Afghanistan and Pakistain to close them down.

How Obama manipulated sensitive secret intelligence for political gain
[Wash Times] They wanted him dead.

For years, a clandestine U.S. intelligence team had tracked a man they knew was high in the leadership of al Qaeda ‐ an operative some believed had a hand in plotting the gruesome 2009 suicide attack in Afghanistan that killed seven CIA officers.
Referring to the FOB Chapman attack.
Their pursuit was personal, and by early 2014, according to a source directly involved in the operation, the agency had the target under tight drone surveillance. "We literally had a bead on this guy’s head and just needed authorization from Washington to pull the trigger," said the source.

Then something unexpected happened. While agents waited for the green light, the al Qaeda operative’s name, as well as information about the CIA’s classified surveillance and plan to kill him in Pakistan, suddenly appeared in the U.S. press.

Abdullah al-Shami, it turned out, was an American citizen, and President Obama and his national security advisers were torn over whether the benefits of killing him would outweigh the political and civil liberties backlash that was sure to follow.

In interviews with several current and former officials, the al-Shami case was cited as an example of what critics say was the Obama White House’s troublesome tendency to mishandle some of the nation’s most delicate intelligence ‐ especially regarding the Middle East ‐ by leaking classified information in an attempt to sway public opinion on sensitive matters.

'Allies do not put each other on notice': FO lashes out at US after Pence's scathing remarks
[DAWN] The Foreign Office (FO) on Friday lashed out at the United States (US) hours after Vice President Mike Pence's warning that the Trump administration has "put Pakistain on notice", claiming that the statements diverged from recent conversations between both countries' officials.

"Allies do not put each other on notice," the FO statement said, noting that Pence's scathing remarks were "at variance with the extensive conversations we [Islamabad] have had with the US administration".|

The FO statement stressed the need for the US to create peace and reconciliation mechanisms instead of shifting blame onto Pakistain for its failures in Afghanistan.

"Externalising blame should be put on notice," the FO said, in addition to a host of "factors responsible for exponential increase in drug production, expansion of ungoverned spaces, industrial scale corruption, breakdown of governance, and letting ISIS gain a foothold in Afghanistan."

No evidence found against bloggers accused of blasphemy, FIA tells court
[DAWN] The five activists who made international headlines when they went missing earlier this year were cleared of blasphemy charges on Friday, a lawyer said.

The men, who used social media to stand against religious intolerance and at times criticised the army, vanished within days of each other in January, sparking fears of a state crackdown. They included academic Salman Haider, bloggers Asim Saeed, Waqas Goraya and Ahmed Raza Naseer, and Samar Abbas, head of an anti-extremism activist group in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Four of them have since been released, with some accusing their captors of torture. No group grabbed credit for their abduction, and the government and military have denied involvement.

But during their disappearance, a virulent social media campaign to paint them as blasphemers began, triggering a flood of threats.

Observers have said the allegations alone were enough to put the five activists' lives in danger.

On Friday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) told the Islamabad High Court it could find no evidence against the five men.

"The FIA officials told the court it ... seems the five bloggers were not involved in blasphemy," Tariq Asad, one of the lawyers bringing the charge against the activists, told AFP.

"The judge remarked that no innocent person should be implicated in a false case of blasphemy," Asad said.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui during the hearing remarked that those who have made false accusations regarding someone posting blasphemous content have committed "twice the crime".

He said the trial court will decide if this was a case of false accusation or lack of evidence.

The campaign against the missing men spotlighted how bad boy efforts to muzzle liberal voices using state laws have found a powerful new platform online, rights activists say.

Iraq
International support continues for Kurdish Peshmerga fight against ISIS
[Rudaw] ERBIL, Kurdistan Region ‐ The 70-nation international anti-ISIS coalition will continue to work with Kurdish Peshmerga, through funding, training, advising, and assisting, despite disagreements between the KRG and Iraqi government.

"The battle of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, the cooperation between the Iraqi Security Forces and the Peshmerga, was something that was historic, something we still want to build upon even as there’s tension between Baghdad and Erbil..." explained Brett McGurk, the US Special Presidential Envoy to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in a presser on Thursday night.

Of the $1.269 billion appropriated in the Iraq Train & Equip Fund for 2018 in the US National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), $270 million in stipends and $95 million in sustainment is earmarked by its congress specifically for the Peshmerga.

"Lobbying efforts" in Washington successfully swayed Congress to remove "unfavorable language" from initial versions of the NDAA. The initial verbiage essential conditioned Peshmerga aid on being more directly integrated into the Iraqi security forces and on Iraqi bases.

In addition to the United States and key coalition member nations have promised to continue their support for Kurdish Peshmerga, including professionalization of the force that has been faulted for being politicized and lacking unity.

"We initiated it. We started it. We proposed it. And we are leading it," said UK Consul General to Erbil in an interview with Rudaw on Sunday. "We have dedicated staff who are doing that job. There here, and they're still here, they'll remain here.

"The unification and professionalization of Peshmerga is more important, and I think that has become more evident over the past few months. And we are committed to that."

The British stance echoes that of German Defense Minister Ursula van der Leyen, who contrary to her country's politicians, has argued to re-authorize a one-year deployment of up to 150 soldiers to train Peshmerga.

"I would welcome extending deployment early next year ‐ and not just for three months but once again in the typical pattern of one year," Leyen told Funke Mediengruppe on Saturday, as KRG Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani was in Berlin meeting with the defense and foreign ministers, along with Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
"[W]e stand with our partners in the fight against terror," added Leyen.

French President Emmanuel Macron noted the "rights of the Kurds" and "their commitment to the fight against terrorism" in a statement released on December 3 after hosting Barzani.

"The Peshmerga, alongside the Iraqi federal forces, fought with great courage and determination against ISIS for Iraq and the world," stated Macron, using another term for ISIS.

Macron expressed La Belle France's commitment to the 2005 Iraqi constitution. The constitution enshrines the autonomy of the Kurdistan Region and its Peshmerga.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
have separately declared a victory over ISIS in Iraq.

Rudaw has reported of groupings of unknown militias in the disputed areas near Tuz Khurmatu, additionally on Tuesday, Kurdish Peshmerga killed one ISIS fighter while trying to arrest a band of the holy warriors near Makhmur.

"We estimate that there are about 1,000 ISIS bandidos turbans remaining" in Iraq and Syria the coalition told Rudaw English on Friday.

McGurk highlighted the accelerated pressure over the past 11 months leading to the destruction of the ISIS caliphate but cautioned against this being the end of the bully boy group.

"ISIS will be around for a while," he said. "...we have a long way to go."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas leader: Israel doesn't exist
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to cease restricting the activity of the struggle and intifada in Judea and Samaria, in order to bring about a general "confrontation" with the "occupation."

Speaking in Gaza at a conference marking the International Day for Jerusalem, Haniyeh said the PA "needs to make clear decisions and put an end to the Oslo Accords. It should not attempt to find a new sponsor for peace."

According to the Hamas site Al-Risala, Haniyeh emphasized that "no one has the authority to give up Al-Quds," and "it is inconceivable that we will abandon Al-Quds or leave it the way [we left] Al-Andalus and other places. Al-Quds is the religious and political capital of Palestine, and it is the moral (capital) of all free people in the world."

Al-Quds is the Arabic name for Jerusalem. Al-Andalus, also known as Muslim Spain or Islamic Iberia, occupied during medieval times much of what is today Spain and Portugal.

Haniyeh called on the Islamic nation to create a strategy to combat the "conspiracy being concocted in the US, including the acceptance of new decisions regarding the Palestinian problem. This includes, for example, cancelling the [PA Arabs'] right of return, and recognizing Israel's Jewish character."

According to Haniyeh, US President Donald Trump does not have the authority to give Jerusalem to Israel. Not only that, there is no country called "Israel" to which Trump can give a capital city.

"The Palestinian nation is determined to continue its battle for Al-Quds until the end, even if doing so will cost a high price in lives, as long as it succeeds in thwarting the decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital," he said.

Palestinian Authority BDS organizations receive major blow
The Danish Foreign Ministry announced Friday the cessation of financial aid, along with a more stringent vetting process, for the transfer of funds to Palestinian Authority (PA) NGOs.

The move came after Israel's Ministry of Strategic Affairs provided information to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that European funds are going to PA NGOs with ties to terrorist organizations. These NGOs also promote boycotts against Israel, the ministry noted. As a result, Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) sent a letter to the Danish Foreign Minister insisting Denmark cease funding these organizations.

In an official statement, Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen emphasized that he attaches great importance to ensuring Danish aid is used properly. It is for this reason, he wrote, that the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs began, in May 2017, a comprehensive examination of the funds distributed to PA NGOs. The results of those findings led the Danish government to conclude that there was a need to toughen the conditions and terms surrounding finances given to PA organizations.

Disabled Gaza man did not die from IDF fire
Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) Major General Yoav Mordechai called on the Red Cross to produce a report and medical findings regarding the death of Ibrahim Abu Toriya, after the IDF report on the topic concluded that Abu Toriya was not killed by IDF fire.

Abu Toriya, a double amputee, participated last Friday in a riot which turned violent when the Arab protesters began burning tires and stoning the IDF troops stationed nearby.

"Recently, claims have been made that the IDF caused the death of Ibrahim Abu Toriya, who was killed while participating in riots near the Gaza border," Mordechai noted.

"I announce, very clearly, that the investigation did not show in any way that Ibrahim Abu Toriya died of live IDF fire.

"I therefore turned to Red Cross Delegation Head Mr Jacques De Maio, asking him to find all of the facts and data, including the report from the ambulance in which Abu Toriya traveled, medical reports and findings from doctors in Gaza hospitals, and any other data which exists."

Mordechai also noted that there was no basis for the false reports claiming that a sniper shot directly and intentionally at Abu Toriya. He emphasized that "we have to put an end to the industry of rumors, exaggerations, and lies which incense public discourse and incite to violence. There are too many questions and too many things which are unclear about Abu Toriya's death, and I suggest we investigate and find out the truth."

Abbas says Palestinians won't accept US peace plan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
said Friday that his people would "no longer accept" any peace plan proposed by the United States following Washington’s decision to unilaterally recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The Trump administration has been preparing a plan in secret which is expected to be presented to the two sides in 2018.

"The United States has proven to be a dishonest mediator in the grinding of the peace processor and we will no longer accept any plan from the United States," Abbas said after meeting French President Emmanuel Macron in Gay Paree.

He also hit out at efforts by the US to intimidate countries ahead of a vote at the UN on Thursday which saw 128 countries condemn Washington’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.

"I hope that the others will learn the lesson and understand that you cannot impose solutions by using money and trying to buy off countries," he added.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Obamaranians attempt to shoot Politico magazine messengers over Hez article
[Free Beacon] Nothing has been more tedious over the last year than the constant reminders that good journalism is "now more important than ever." The implication, of course, is that solid, groundbreaking reporting was not as essential so long as a liberal Democrat was in power. I've long assumed that the factotums mouthing such clichés lack the self-awareness to understand the true import of their words. But maybe I've been wrong. Recent days brought evidence that, no, liberals really mean it: the only meaningful investigative work is that which reflects poorly on Republicans.

Earlier this week, for example, Politico Magazine published a story by Josh Meyer headlined "The secret backstory of how Obama let Hezbollah off the hook." This epic and copiously sourced piece relates how, "in its determination to secure a nuclear deal with Iran, the Obama administration derailed an ambitious law enforcement campaign targeting drug trafficking by the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, even as it [Hezbollah, not the Obama administration] was funneling cocaine into the United States."

The law enforcement program in question is called Project Cassandra, which for eight years "used wiretaps, undercover operations, and informants to map Hezbollah's illicit networks, with the help of 30 U.S. and foreign security agencies." However, as investigators came closer to unraveling the globe-spanning conspiracy, "The Justice Department declined requests by Project Cassandra and other authorities to file criminal charges against major players such as Hezbollah's high-profile envoy to Iran, a Lebanese bank that allegedly laundered billions in alleged drug profits, and a central player in a U.S.-based cell of the Iranian paramilitary Quds force." Linger over that last item for a second.

Meyer cites "dozens" of interviews and documents as evidence. He quotes a veteran U.S. intelligence operative‐the sort of guy whose every utterance is anonymously paraded in the newspapers and magazines so long as it's anti-Trump‐who says, "This was a policy decision, it was a systematic decision." And the reason for this systematic decision, presumably, was to make Hezbollah's Iranian backers more willing to deal with the Obama administration on nukes.

Meyer points to congressional testimony from former Treasury official Katherine Bauer, who said last February: "These investigations were tamped down for fear of rocking Iran and jeopardizing the nuclear deal." President Obama, in other words, slow-walked counter-narcotics efforts for the inane "greater good" of paying Iran billions to pretend to shut down its nuclear program for ten years. This is the very definition of "stupid stuff."

Nothing personal, it's simply a policy decision. We've essentially targeted the entire political landscape.
