Afghanistan
AIHRC: No One Has the Right to Pardon Murderers of Civilians
[Tolo News] Neither the government nor anyone else has the authority or the right to forgive plotters of civilian killings, Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said on Saturday.

Following a recent remark by High Peace Council claiming that most of the Taliban are not aware of suicide kabooms, AIHRC said while the Taliban claim responsibility for all suicide attacks, they should be brought to justice.

Leader of Change and Hope coalition, the leading opposition party, has warned that pardoning the Taliban members would increase Death Eater attacks in the country.

Last Thursday head of the peace council highlighted that there were some bigger circles involved in Afghan crisis.

"Civilian killings and raids on civilian locations by any group is a clear and vivid violation of international humanitarian laws and an evident crime.

Announcing amnesty over such sort of people is totally against humanitarian laws. They should be prosecuted," Nader Naderi, a Spokesman to AIHRC, said.

The fact that the Taliban claim responsibility for suicide attacks in Afghanistan, their actions should not be ignored, Leader of Change and Hope Coalition Dr Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
said.

"Those who are involved in innocent civilian deaths in Afghanistan must be prosecuted. And evidently crimes will keep happening if there is no prosecution," Mr Abdullah said.

While weighing on negotiations with anti-government gangs, AIHRC underlined that their crimes should not be ignored and they should not be pardoned.

Ethiopia in threat to oust Eritrea's regime
[The Nation (Nairobi)] Ethiopia has threatened to topple Eritrea's regime should the international community fail to enforce sanctions placed on the country in 2009.

Addis Ababa claims Eritrea is trying to destabilise the Horn of African nation by backing rebels, while also supporting Islamist gunnies in Somalia.

The Ethiopian government usually says it is content to keep security tight at home to deter attacks.

Eritrea fiercely denies the charges and accuses Western nations of siding with Ethiopia over the unresolved border row.

Eritrea, a tiny Red Sea state, broke away from Ethiopia in 1993 and has been under the leadership of President Isaias Afewerki, 67, since.

Fought bloody war
The two countries fought a bloody war in 1998-2000, which killed more than 70,000 people.

Ethiopian officials, including Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, said they will use "all possible means" to overthrow the Eritrean administration.

Meles said Ethiopia would work towards changing Eritrea's policies or its government.

"This could be done diplomatically, politically or through other means," he said during an interview with Ethiopia-based Eritrean opposition radio station.

Meles also claimed that his country's intelligence reports indicated that Eritrea was planning to disrupt the upcoming Djibouti elections.

Landlocked Ethiopia depends on the Djibouti port for all its trade.

And Meles has already sent a delegation led by his Foreign Affairs minister to New York to brief the UN on the situation.

Africa North
US says Gaddafi's attack halted, stalemate possible
The top U.S. military officer acknowledged on Sunday that a no-fly zone over Libya could end in a stalemate with Muammar Gaddafi's forces even as Western warplanes halted an anti-rebel offensive at Benghazi.

Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the CBS program "Face the Nation" that the air mission in the North African country has a clear, limited scope.

But Mullen said the end-game of military action in Libya was "very uncertain." Asked if it could end in a stalemate with Gaddafi, Mullen replied: "I don't think that's for me to answer. Certainly, I recognize that's a possibility."

"It's very uncertain on how this ends," he added.

#5  Jefferson, about a week and a half ago, Moussa's opposite number at the OIC managed to both denounce the prospect of Western/European/UN military action in Libya, and demand the establishment of a no-fly zone in the very next breath. I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of the Islamic/Arabic diplomatic corps just doesn't have any real understanding of the world outside of rhetorical constructs and the odd oil bribery scheme. It's the "Dream Palace of the Arabs" in practice.

#7  My prediction is that the rebels will be sold down the river. Qaddafi will slaughter some, and let the rest become boat people and head out to the med as refugees. Europe will have to take them for humanitarian reasons.

The Arab leaders are too worried about their own skin. Qaddaffi stays in power, Al Qaeda recruitment goes through the roof.

Bouteflika promises further reforms, including political
[Ennahar] President Abdelaziz Bouteflika
... 10th president of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third term, which is probably why Algerians are ready to dump him...
promised on Saturday a "new page in the path of comprehensive reforms", including political, APS reported.

After discussing the lifting of the state of emergency in force for 19 years, he had promised and implemented on February 25, the president, in a speech read in his absence in Mostaganem, 350 kilometers west of Algiers, said further reforms will be done.

"This will open a new page in the path of comprehensive reforms that (...) will not be successful without political reform," said President Bouteflika, in the text read by one of his advisers.

The speech was read at a conference marking the 49th anniversary of the cease-fire in fighting for independence against La Belle France, organized in the town of Mostaganem.

Egypt: Islamists throw stones at Mohamed ElBaradei
[Ennahar] Hundreds of Islamic brown turbans threw stones at Egyptian Mohamed ElBaradei,
Egyptian law scholar and Iranian catspaw. He was head of the IAEA from December 1997 to November 2009. At some point during his tenure he was purchased by the Iranians. ElBaradei and the IAEA were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for something in 2005. After stepping down from his IAEA position ElBaradei attempted to horn in on the 2011 Egyptian protests which culminated in the collapse of the Mubarak regime. ElBaradei served on the Board of Trustees of the International Crisis Group, a lefty NGO that is bankrolled by the Carnegie Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as George Soros' Open Society Institute. Soros himself serves as a member of the organization's Executive Committee.

Gadhafi Says Sarkozy, Cameron, Obama Will Regret Interference
[An Nahar] Libyan leader Moammar Qadaffy has sent urgent messages to French President Nicolas Sarkozy
...23rd and current President of the French Republic and ex officio Co-Prince of Andorra. Sarkozy is known for wanting to revitalize the French economy whether the Frenchies want to or not. In foreign affairs he has promised a strengthening of the entente cordiale with the United Kingdom and closer cooperation with the United States. He married singer-songwriter Carla Bruni, who has a really nice birthday suit, in 2008...

and British Prime Minister David Cameron
... British PM Cameron describes himself as a modern compassionate conservative and has spoken of a need for a new style of politics that doesn't involve calling people names. He has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's probably not. He has also claimed to be a liberal Conservative, and a very tall short person. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has urged politicians to concentrate on improving people's happiness and general well-being, instead of focusing solely on financial wealth, which is easy for a stockbroker's kid to say. Ask him to lend you ten quid and see how that works out. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ...
telling them they "will regret" interfering in the country's affairs, a front man said Saturday.

"If you intervene in our country you will regret it," the front man quoted him as telling them, adding that Gadhafi had also sent messages to U.S. President Barack B.O. Obama and U.N. chief the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon.

Part of his messages said, "I have all the Libyan people with me and they are prepared to die for me -- men, women and kiddies."

#2  elling them they "will regret" interfering in the country's affairs

Ohh trust me, African one, we regret more than you do - messing with other countries affairs.

Your time as King has ended so pack your bags. But pack light.
As for our "agreement", you know where you went wrong.

Never a day goes by that I do not "regret intervening" in a foreign country - make it all of them. Yet again, since I have family all over there, maybe I would regret NOT "intervening".

With you, it was cool until you needed foreigners to protect your "sovereign Authority". Now you have done screwed up and massacred people. You painted our Naval forces and something else that can turn a simple threat into action.

You are trying to get those rocks off of the plywood where your cannisters of sinister love is.

Your reign as a King in Libya is over. Move out or die.

#3  KaDaffy has to sleep somewhere tonite. Get on that. Pay him a call EVERY nite until you get him. Put out a bounty quietly (nothing official but nevertheless lucratively reliable) and PAY well for information which proves accurate.

He wants to play, fine, he cant hide that effectively. There are only just so many places he can set up securely. Narrow it down. Watch his entourage. Grill every one of his people who has defected for the little personal details about who he takes to bed and how he lines up his slippers when he does.

Kill him.

Those sitting in a grassy area quickly got up and began heading for the exit. More followed, until the human chain thinned to a few dozen people standing in the chill before the balcony where Kadafi was supposed to address them.

But the Brother Leader was nowhere to be seen. He would address Libyans later by telephone, from an undisclosed location

Saudi King Abdullah decrees wide-ranging social welfare measures
[Asharq al-Aswat] The King of the Arabians, Sheikh of the Burning Sands, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud made a statement to the people of Soddy Arabia on Friday.
In his statement the king said, "I am proud of you. Words and meanings cannot describe you. I say this to make history bear witness, pens write and to ensure that the national memory does not forget, that after Allah Almighty, you are the guarantors for the unity of this country and that you have struck at falsehood with truth, and at betrayal with loyalty and steadfastness through your faithful resolve."

The king added, "Allow me to address the scholars at the Commission of Senior Scholars or outside it who, out of loyalty to the religion, stood and supported the word of Allah Almighty in confronting the voice of division and advocates of sedition. I also do not forget the thinkers of the nation and the writers who have fought the enemies of religion, homeland and the nation. I proudly say to each and every citizen that any nation that supports the word of truth has nothing to fear. You are at the heart of it and the trustees on religion and the security and stability of this nation."

The king addressed the brave men of all military sectors and in particular the security men of the Interior Ministry saying, "You are the shield of this country and the striking hand against anyone tempted to undermine its security and stability. May Allah bless you in all you do."

The king addressed the noble people saying, "Allah knows that I always hold you dear to my heart and that I derive determination, help and strength from Allah and then from you."

He concluded by saying, "Don't forget to pray Allah Almighty for me".

Home Front: WoT
Man Convicted Of Minting Silver Coins, Called 'Domestic Terrorist' By Prosecutor
Bernard von NotHaus, 67, was convicted today by a federal jury of making, possessing, and selling his own coins, announced Anne M. Tompkins, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

Following an eight-day trial and less than two hours of deliberation, von NotHaus, the founder and monetary architect of a currency known as the Liberty Dollar, was found guilty by a jury in Statesville, North Carolina, of making coins resembling and similar to United States coins; of issuing, passing, selling, and possessing Liberty Dollar coins; of issuing and passing Liberty Dollar coins intended for use as current money; and of conspiracy against the United States.

The guilty verdict concluded an investigation which began in 2005 and involved the minting of Liberty Dollar coins with a current value of approximately $7 million.

According to the evidence introduced during the trial, von NotHaus was the founder of an organization called the National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve and Internal Revenue Code, commonly known as NORFED and also known as Liberty Services.

Von NotHaus was the president of NORFED and the executive director of Liberty Dollar Services, Inc. until on or about September 30, 2008.

“Attempts to undermine the legitimate currency of this country are simply a unique form of domestic terrorism,” U.S. Attorney Tompkins said in announcing the verdict. “While these forms of anti-government activities do not involve violence, they are every bit as insidious and represent a clear and present danger to the economic stability of this country,” she added. “We are determined to meet these threats through infiltration, disruption, and dismantling of organizations which seek to challenge the legitimacy of our democratic form of government.”

Sure you can. And you can drag it all out until they die of old age too.

Dribble Drivel, did you have to go to stupid school or is this a natural "talent"?

Maybe you should try coherent school next.

#6  Since arrest records are 'public' and communities have used the net to post such records with pictures of DUIs and 'johns', why not do the same with these clowns?

#7  Because as far as they're concerned, P2k, that just enhances their resumes. :-(

I'd do it anyway, just for spite.

#10  I get halfway through Dribble's post and know who it is!

Say ... he's not posting from the same place as Aris, is he?
Posted by: Bobby || 03/20/2011 21:43 Comments || Top||

#11  Bobby, Aris was honest about what he knew, merely insistently argumentative and lacking real-world understanding. This person likes dwelling on evil, thinking it creative and edgy. He may be Angleton9, who had a similar style and taste. His writing is facile, but I find his prose degrading.

Geez, Bobby - it takes you that long?

Eight years ago today (probably yesterday)
U.S. President George W. Bush has announced that war against Iraq has begun.

In his address at 0315 GMT Thursday, Bush said:

  • That every effort would be made to spare the lives of innocent civilians,
  • But the campaign will be "broad and concerted" and will use "decisive force."
  • No outcome but victory will be accepted,
  • America's freedom will be defended, and freedom will be brought to others.
What a difference an election makes

Hamas urged to cease attacks on demonstrators
[Ma'an] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, authorities in Gazoo should punish those responsible for attacks on peaceful demonstrators calling for Paleostinian political reconciliation, Human Rights Watch said Saturday.

"It is a dismal reflection on Hamas that it is violently cracking down on peaceful demonstrators calling for political reconciliation," said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, in a statement.

"This is just the latest instance of Hamas assaulting Paleostinians' fundamental freedoms."

Hilde sez Iran undermining Gulf stability
PARIS - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton accused Iran on Saturday of undermining peace and stability in the Gulf by trying to advance its agenda in neighbouring countries.

“The United States has an abiding commitment to Gulf security... and a top priority is working together with our partners on our shared concerns about Iranian behaviour in the region,” she told journalists.

“We share the view that Iran’s activities in the Gulf, including its efforts to advance its agenda in the neighbouring countries undermines peace and stability,” she said.

It is just one of the popular real issues to ignore and let drift out of popular conciousness. As is the Nuclear North Korea with a K for kim, b for bombs. We have to worry about everywhere, so why not defer dealing with the the really important stuff for later?
