Hassi 'government' accuses Leon of not wanting dialogue and of 'disrespecting' Libyan laws
[Libya Herald] The Foreign Media Department belonging to the Hassi administration has condemned UN Special Envoy to Libya Bernadino Leon, claiming he "disrespected" the country's laws and did not wanting dialogue with the current power in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
: Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
. It has also said that if he continued to the policy, he would not be welcome again and court action would be taken against him.

"He doesn't want dialogue with people in Tripoli," new Head of the Foreign Media Department Jamal Zubia told the Libya Herald today. "We say yes to dialogue, but you must respect us. If he does not respect the government, he is not welcome here."

The Hassi administration appears to have taken offence because its permission was not sought when at the end of Leon's visit to Tripoli last week he held a presser.

"Leon arranged a presser in Tripoli without telling the government but the law says he has to inform us," Zubia insisted. "Leon is from the UN and, if the UN does not repeat the laws of the country, it is a big disaster."

He added that Leon had contacted individual journalists to invite them to the presser and that the first he had known about it was when he saw it being broadcast on a television channel. He said he phoned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who had also received no information about the conference.

"We have sent a formal letter to his media department explaining everything, saying that what he was doing was breaking the law and, if he does the same again, we will send him to court," Zubia said.

"We are responsible for everything to do with the press and especially foreign media. So we have to know what is going on." He added that he had requested a meeting with Leon to discuss these matters.

He also said that, if the same thing happened again, journalists would be warned not to attend future such pressers. "Any journalist who breaks the law is not welcome. This is the same as everywhere. We are a normal country," Zubia declared.

He accused Leon of being biased against Omar El-Hassi's Tripoli-based "government", which the international community refuses to recognise. It accepts only the Tobruk-based House of Representatives and the Thinni government appointed by it, and has steadfastly refused to have any dealings, including any meetings, with the Hassi administration.

"Another problem is that many times Leon announces things and says things that undermine our freedom fighters," Zubia complained. "But they have power on the ground," he noted, adding that "he never discussed things with Fajr Libya, never managed things through them."

He pointed out that many people in Tripoli were now saying that Leon was no longer acceptable, citing recent demonstrations in the city in which, he said, protestors had said he was not welcome in Libya.

At a protest on Friday, the country's controversial Grand Mufti Sheikh Sadik Al-Ghariani described Leon as "undesirable" and accused him of being biased in favour of the government and parliament now based in Tobruk.

Arabia
90 extremist tweets posted every minute
[ARABNEWS] The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has released statistics showing that there are more than 90 Lion of Islam-oriented tweets posted every minute, or more than 129,600 per day.

Abdul Moneim Al-Mushawwah, director of the Peace Campaign run by the ministry, said in an interview this was the lowest statistics recorded compared to previous months. There is a 30 percent margin of error because the data was gathered manually, he said.
A nice little project for the NSC computers -- much more useful than tracking every electronic communication in the U.S., and the recipients of the analysis will be so appreciative.
He said Lion of Islam groups such as Al-Qaeda are weakening geographically and intellectually, and across the Internet. However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
unrest and chaos in some areas "are reviving their activities."

Al-Mushawwah said more than 500 accounts have been shut down belonging to individuals promoting the activities of organizations including Jabhat Al-Nusra
...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant...
and Ahrar Al-Sham. He called for the establishment of a national body to monitor, analyze and provide guidance about posts on social networking sites that promote extremism.

He said dialogue plays an important role in trying to reform terrorists. "It is important to first deal with the psychological, emotional and mental state of an individual to determine the best way to carry out an intellectual dialogue with someone that has adopted radical or Lion of Islam ideologies."

He added: Also, it is important that dialogue with gunnies are realistic, reoccurs, and addresses the changing circumstances they may experience."

He said the success of rehabilitation programs require proper analyzes of what's happening with these radicals. "This demonstrates the significance of properly measuring how this phenomenon has declined, keeping in mind that it is difficult to measure intellectual ideas, but certain indicators can be taken into account." "The authorities should work on programs and projects that monitor and follows up on this issue, but the media, education institutions, mosques, family and the Internet have become effective tools, and should also play a role."

He said the campaign has been focusing over the past four years on building an intellectual and scientific system that serves all those who are trying to confront extremism.

"The focus of our online site is to be an archive that assists all those who are doing this kind of work. We have a specific mechanism to ensure research and studies reach the authorities that will benefit from them."

Turkey's position in ISIS war questioned due to statements by political leaders says Iraqi FM
[Iraq News] On Sunday, Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim al-Jaafari said, that Iraq never accused Turkeyâs government of supporting terrorism.

Al-Jaafari stated in a joint press conference with his Kuwaiti counterpart Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah, âWe never accused Turkeyâs government of supporting terrorism, but a few statements made by Turkish political leaders caused wonder around the international media regarding Turkeyâs position in the war on ISIS.â

âDuring my visit to Ankara, I sought to strengthen the relationship between Iraq and its neighbor.â he added.

#1  Imagine, if you can, what the world would be like if people in power actually believed what others say.

eg We are the Islamic State! No you're not Islamic.
We are going to nuke Israel as soon as we can! We don't believe you. etc. etc.

When they say they're going to kill you, believe them and act accordingly.

Pentagon Spy Agency Trimmed after Lawmakers Voice Concern
[AnNahar] A Pentagon plan to create an overseas intelligence agency is being trimmed after politicians voiced concern with its price and purpose, The Washington Post reported.

The new Defense Clandestine Service, announced by the Pentagon more than two years ago, is to use existing agents, authorities and assets and work closely with the Central Intelligence Agency to track emerging threats.

But a report by the Post late Saturday said that the U.S. military's Defense Intelligence Agency would train and deploy at most only 500 undercover officers, approximately half of what was initially planned.

Cutbacks also include a scaled-down training schedule and steering most of those involved towards more traditional DIA roles.

Although case officers from the DIA already secretly gather intelligence outside of conventional battle zones, the Defense Clandestine Service, or DCS, is meant to further cement cooperation between the military and the CIA.

But Congress, including members of the Senate Armed Forces Committee in particular, voiced concern that the Pentagon would be picking up the tab for CIA duties, the Post said.

"We did reevaluate the DCS program after initial discussions with Congress," Pentagon spokeswoman Navy Commander Amy Derrick-Frost said in the Post.

The former head of the DIA, Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, was pushed out of his post earlier this year, according to the Post, after disagreements with other senior figures and amid efforts to speed up the plan to deploy more spies.

Both General Flynn and his civilian deputy were pushed out or forced to retire. The Klingons do not like competition.

#3  Methinks the biggest problem with our intelligence community is we have too many agencies.

Whatever happened to the idea of having a few well coordinated intelligence agencies sharing information recognizing the special needs of each agency.

It appears we have spooks falling all over each other, ill-coordinated, and fighting turf wars more than sharing information on the bad guys.

Top that with the intense politicalization of the intelligence community with true believers and promoting specific narratives to support one administration or the other and we have a festering fever swamp of a mess.

Do we have any adult supervision of these people?

IDPs protest non-provision of food, cash
[DAWN] KARAK: The internally displaced persons of North Wazoo held a demonstration in Latamber here on Sunday to protest non-provision of food items and financial assistance.

The protesters, who gathered in the football ground, said that they were living in miserable conditions, but the concerned authorities ignored their plight.

The IDP elders said that the government should work out a mechanism to provide them food items and cash assistance so they could feed their families. They said they had no money to buy food items and other necessities of life.

Meanwhile,

Questions about breach at Wagah abound
[DAWN] Questions were asked on Sunday whether the concentration of the civil administration and the law-enforcement agencies in the main city due to Muharram processions and majalis had made Wagah Border a relatively easier target for the suicide kaboom.
Yeah. Everybody was just so surprised.
The attack shook the civil administration and the police banking on the army and Rangers for support in case of any major law and order situation. It also made them reinforce security arrangements to avert any such incident.

The incident terrified people and calls were made asking them to be more careful during Ashura processions.

Official sources in the Punjab government said a warning was issued four days ago, indicating a suicide strike at security personnel.

The incident made the administration and organisers of Muharram processions to revise their security plans. "The Muharram security is the top-most priority at this time of the year and everybody in the government is combat-ready. We have devised best possible security arrangements," a bigwig said.

He advised people to remain vigilant and inform the police about the presence of any suspicious person or thing around them, adding everybody should join hands against the threat.

India, Pakistan lower flag at border ceremony day after deadly attack
[REUTERS] India and Pakistain solemnly lowered their national flags at a dusk military ceremony on their main land border crossing on Monday, a day after a suicide kaboom killed almost 60 people on the Pak side.

India's home ministry had earlier said the daily flag-lowering ceremony would be suspended as a mark of respect for the dead - the first time the parade would have been called off since the two countries went to war in 1971.

But later Pak officials changed their mind, deciding to go ahead with the ritual to send a message to the Lion of Islams.

Just before dusk, at least 2,000 women, men and children gathered at the parade ground on the border crossing, some chanting "Death to terrorists" and "Long live Pakistain". On the Indian side, there were only a handful of spectators.

The colorful show, where border guards in elaborate uniforms goose-step, shake hands brusquely across the borderline and scowl aggressively at each other, proceeded as usual amid heightened security.

"Today's ceremony proved that Death Eaters cannot lower the spirit of the nation by their cowardly activities," Corps Commander Lahore Lt. Gen. Naveed Zaman said in televised remarks.

Arab League Warns of Jerusalem 'Red Line'
[AnNahar] The Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
warned Sunday that Israel has reached a "red line" after fresh festivities in Jerusalem, urging international pressure to stop what it branded "violations" in the holy city.

Clashes around the flashpoint al-Aqsa mosque compound -- the third holiest site in Islam and Judaism's holiest -- prompted Israel on Thursday to close the site for a day.

Al-Aqsa and adjacent neighbourhoods have seen months of violence, with the mosque compound a rallying point for Paleostinian resistance to perceived Jewish attempts to take control of it.

"Israel has reached a red line," Arab League deputy chief Ahmed Ben Hilli said after an assembly of the 22-member bloc's delegates.

He called on Arabs and the international community "to put a stop to these practices by the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem."

"Touching Jerusalem will lead to results with untold consequences," he added.

On Sunday, Israeli far-right politician Moshe Feiglin visited the compound in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, pressing for Jews to be allowed to pray there despite the heightened tensions over its status.

He was met with protests from Moslems crying "holy shit! Allahu akbar" (God is greater).

The United States on Thursday urged all sides in Jerusalem to exercise restraint in the holy city, and said it was working with Israelis, Paleostinians and Jordanians to try to restore calm.

The Paleostinians want east Jerusalem, including al-Aqsa, as the capital of their future state. Israel considers east Jerusalem, conquered in 1967, to be part of its "eternal" capital.
Everyone wants to get in on the action:
Jordan's King Vows to Stand Up to Israel on Jerusalem

[AnNahar] Jordan's King Abdullah II vowed on Sunday to oppose any Israeli attempt to change the status of Moslem or Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

"Jordan will continue to confront, through all available means, Israeli unilateral policies and measures in Jerusalem and preserve its Moslem and Christian holy sites, until peace is restored to the land of peace," the king said in a speech.

Jordan, which administered east Jerusalem and the West Bank before Israel seized the Paleostinian territories in the 1967 Middle East war, has responsibility for holy sites in the Israeli-annexed eastern sector.

Jordan's status as custodian is enshrined in its 1994 peace treaty with the Jewish state.

The al-Aqsa mosque compound in east Jerusalem's Old City has been a rallying point for Paleostinian resistance to perceived Jewish attempts to take control of it, sparking festivities between demonstrators and Israeli police for the past several months.

The site is holy to Moslems and Jews alike.

#3  Dear AMBASSADOR JONES - Good luck wid that.

Despite initial high hopes, looks like both local Iraqi Shia Militias [Qadir] + Iran's IRGC [Hezbollah?] are also not enough by themselves to unilaterally stop the ISIS/ISIL on the ground.

Unlike the USA + Globalist Obama, whom IMO has no defense because they are supposed to be advising + training the Iraqi Army or Iraqi Armed Forces to begin with, OWG Co-Superpower RISING IRAN at least can claim its National Military-Industrial Complex is NOT yet up to speed in supporting Iran's agenda outside of its borders.

Terror Networks
Egypt, Gulf allies plan anti-terror alliance
[ARABNEWS] US Arab allies Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait are discussing the creation of a military pact to take on militants, with the possibility of a joint force to intervene around the Middle East, The Associated Press has learned.

The alliance would also serve as a show of strength to counterbalance Iran. Two countries are seen as potential theaters for the alliance to act, senior Egyptian military officials said: Libya, where militants have taken over several cities, and Yemen, where Shiite rebels suspected of links to Iran have seized control of the capital.

Their consideration of a joint force illustrates a desire to go beyond the international coalition that the United States has put together to wage an air campaign against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria. The officials said the alliance under consideration was not intended to intervene in Iraq or Syria but to act separately to address other extremist hotspots.

Three military officials discussed details of the talks and a fourth confirmed their comments.
