Nigeria Suspends Immigration Boss after Terrorist Assir gets Visa

But I think the guy on the left is actually Squidward
[ALMANAR.LB] Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari suspended his head of immigration Friday, the government announced, with the department under investigation over the approval of a visa to the runaway terrorist, Ahmad al-Assir, who launched the 2013 battle against the Lebanese army in Sidon's Abra.

Ahmad al-Assir, wanted in Leb over deadly festivities with the army there, was placed in durance vile
You have the right to remain silent...
on Saturday as he tried to board a plane from the Middle Eastern nation to Nigeria via Cairo, and using a fake Paleostinian passport with a valid visa.

"The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration service, Mr David Shikfu Parradang, has been suspended from office with immediate effect," Nigeria's interior ministry said in a statement.

It is Squidward! It really is! Same nose, same droopy mouth... but no mustache. All part of the disguise...
News that Assir had received the green light to travel to Nigeria caused outrage in the west African nation, and made front page headlines.

The Nigerian government launched an investigation into the affair earlier this week, although it was unclear if Parradang was being held personally accountable.

Assir had been on the run since June 2013, when he and some supporters fought a deadly battle with the army outside the southern Lebanese city of Sidon.

The army seized his headquarters after 48 hours of festivities that killed 18 soldiers, but Assir was able to escape with several of his followers.

He has continued to issue audio statements while on the run. In 2014, prosecutors sought the death sentences for Assir and 53 others, including singer-turned-fundamentalist Fadel Shaker.

They were accused of having formed gangs that killed soldiers, and of having kabooms, light and heavy weapons that they used against the army.

Britain
UK: I will apologize for Iraq, says Labour challenger
[AA.TR] The frontrunner to lead Britannia's main opposition party has promised to apologize for his country's role in the Iraq war.

Jeremy Corbyn, the left-wing candidate in the Labour Party's leadership election, said he would apologize for the "deception" under then-leader Tony Blair that saw the U.K. join the United States in the 2003 conflict.

He told The Guardian newspaper: "It is past time that Labour apologized to the British people for taking them into the Iraq war on the basis of deception and to the Iraqi people for the suffering we have helped cause.

"Under our Labour, we will make this apology."

Corbyn was among the 84 Labour MPs who voted against the war in a 2003 parliamentary motion, which passed with the backing of the center-right Conservatives.

China-Japan-Koreas
Pyongyang orders 'final attack'
[ARABNEWS] North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un put his front-line troops on a war footing on Friday to back up an ultimatum for South Korea to halt high-decibel propaganda broadcasts across the border.

A North Korean military official says a meeting of senior party and defense officials led by Jong Un met Thursday night and "reviewed and approved the final attack operation."

The move came as military tensions on the divided Korean peninsula soared following a rare exchange of artillery fire on Thursday that put the South Korean army on maximum alert.

South Korea's military on Thursday fired dozens of artillery rounds across the border in response to what Seoul said were North Korean artillery strikes meant to back up a threat to attack loudspeakers broadcasting anti-Pyongyang propaganda.

Technically, the two Koreas have been at war for the past 65 years, as the 1950-53 Korean conflict ended with a ceasefire that was never ratified by a formal peace treaty.

Kim has given similarly bellicose orders in the past, most recently in 2013 when he declared "a state of war" with the South, although no festivities resulted.

Over the decades, South Koreans have become accustomed to the North's provocative and belligerent behaviour, and there was no sense of public panic in Seoul despite the dire threats.

Kim chaired an emergency meeting late Thursday of the North's powerful Central Military Commission (CMC) which endorsed the ultimatum for the South to switch off its propaganda unit loudspeakers by Saturday afternoon or face military action.

South Korea's Defense Ministry insisted the loudspeakers would keep operating.

According to the official KCNA news agency, Kim ordered frontline, combined units of the Korean People's Army (KPA) to "enter a wartime state" from Friday 5:00 p.m. (0830 GMT).

The troops should be "fully battle ready to launch surprise operations" while the entire frontline should be placed in a "semi-war state," KCNA quoted him as saying.

In response, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff urged the KPA to refrain from any "reckless acts."

South Korean television broadcast images of President Park Geun-Hye wearing army fatigues as she addressed a meeting of top military commanders outside Seoul.

"Any provocations by North Korea will not be tolerated," Park told the gathering.

#1  HHHMMMM, HHMMMM, the Two Koreas' version of 21st Century, OWG GLOBALIST "LIMITED WAR", as long as the concept of FORMAL-N-FINAL INTER-KOREAN REUNIFICATION is not jeopardized???

Which would be iff the Two Koreas destroy each other widout need of either the US-Allies/UNCOM or China.

#5  China considers much of the north to be a traditional Chinese vassal state. If the South tells the Chinese they won't argue if they occupy, say, the top third, and that the Americans would be asked to leave less a MAG type contingent for equipment and material reasons, this could be interesting.

#6  Yeah but now is the time to do it for them. With Obama, he'd probably tell the South to stand down like he did with the Ukraine and he'd pull our troops home or threaten the South with them. He can't have South Korea get all uppity and do something like have a war and actually win it.

#7  Kimmie sees two things: (1)Things have gotten so bad in NK that the public safety enforcers are quitting (which means the people are pissed and the regime is loosing its grasp), and (2) time is running out to cash in on the leftist bonanza that is Obama. Iran and Cuba are about to pass GO and collect their $200, so why not the Hermit Kingdom.(He has several relations who decide to live in obscure wealth in Europe rather than obscene power in NK, and everybody's good with it.)

S. Korea to partially ban entry into Kaesong industrial park
SEOUL -- South Korea said Friday it will limit the entry of its nationals into a joint industrial park in North Korea following the exchange of artillery fire between the two sides. The Unification Ministry said it will only permit South Korean businessmen directly involved in the operation of factories at the Kaesong Industrial Park to enter the complex.
Every single penny made in the industrial park that goes to the North goes to Fat Boy. If the South Koreans want to be serious, shut Kaesong down and work to cut off the flow of money. Otherwise they're buying the rope that will be used to hang them...
But other South Koreans, including those working at subcontractors, will not be allowed to move in and out of the complex in the North's border city of the same name, the ministry said.

South Korea fired back at North Korea on Thursday following the North's firing of shells at a South Korean front-line military unit in the western area of the heavily fortified border. No damage was reported.

A total of 124 South Korean small and medium-size enterprises operate factories at the industrial park, the last remaining symbol of inter-Korean reconciliation. About 54,000 North Koreans work there.

South Korean businessmen safely returned to the South from the complex on Thursday despite the North's provocation. The ministry said it has taken measures to ensure the safety of South Koreans who are temporarily staying in the North.

Evacuation drills start in North Korea, overseas troops return
On August 20th, North Korea fired projectiles toward a South Korean loudspeaker blasting anti-Pyongyang messages and declared “a quasi-state of war.” South Korea fired dozens of artillery rounds toward the North in retaliation. According to sources within the North, the onset of these developments has seen not only North Korean soldiers but also residents called to carry out related drills, Daily NK has learned.

“We [residents] were ordered to attend an evacuation drill [which usually involves heading to the mountains] today [August 21, KST] without any explanation. Everyone is full of questions and complaints, saying that they’re ‘spinning around like tops,’ seeing as how busy everyone is focusing on harvesting with a decided lack of manpower,” a source in South Pyongan Province reported to Daily NK today.

Daily NK spoke with an additional source in the same province who corroborated this news.

“Troops stationed nearby [the source’s region] were relocated yesterday [particulars of which have been redacted for the source’s protection], raising people’s belief in the possibility of an active war,” she said. However, she added that citizens are hoping that things will die down in this latest round of tensions, much like they have in the past.

Moreover, soldiers dispatched to Sinuiju for the purpose of earning in foreign currency have been called back home to shore up military power. The borders are awash with tension as troops there stand at the ready, fully armed and poised to carry out orders without a moment’s hesitation. In fact, “it seems like some of them do believe in the upper’s [authorities’] assertion that the ‘South Chosun [South Korea] puppet regime attacked the North,” she noted.

On the escalation of tensions along the Sino-North Korea border, the source explained, “Although the Sino-North Korea border is geographically situated far from the DMZ, it’s just as dangerous as the inter-Korean border during a national emergency.”

This is because the China-North Korea border serves as the conduit through which North Korean defectors flee the country as well the portal for an influx of products and media content from the outside world. For this reason, “it’s imperative that the military be fully alert in this region,” she asserted.

An additional source from North Pyongan Province also weighed in on the current climate, noting, “Given that the state announced this 'quasi-state of war,' it’s safe to say that these evacuation drills will be nationwide.”

Still, he added, most citizens think the aggravations will dissipate and all these declarations and drills will have served only to deal a blow to the harvest. Consequently, some are determined to do whatever they can to evade the drills.

Others, however, are more wary. “Things under Kim Jong Un are really different than before [under Kim Jong Il], and even the slightest change in attitude could get you punished so a lot of people are just doing what they can to protect themselves,” he concluded.

Nork Safety agents quit for ‘safer’ jobs
More safety agents, who act as police officers, in North Korea are leaving their posts and seeking work at the marketplace instead. This comes as more agents are facing retaliation from angry residents who have fallen victim to their abuse of power during crackdowns and surveillance, Daily NK has learned.
At some point the people become more enraged at the system than they are fearful of the secret police. It's about at that point that the Enormous Leader takes a fall. I point out the events in Romania in the week or so before the evil Nicki Ceausescu and his equally evil wife were stood against a wall.
“A lot of safety agents feel unsettled about the future, having been at the forefront of wielding abusive power against the public. So we’re seeing people quit their jobs,” a source in North Hamkyung Province told Daily NK on Thursday. “They say they’re worried about retaliation from residents who have fallen victim and are unable to conduct crackdowns as they would. More agents are looking for other jobs so they can make money,” she said.

Compared to the previous leadership, surveillance and control over residents has become more severe, leading to growing discontent and anger from the public, according to the source. This has challenged bad behavior from safety agents and contributed to their ‘early retirements’, she explained.

Over the past few years, the country has seen a spike in attacks that were carried out by people seeking revenge against safety agents, the source said. “Just in the city of Chongjin, a few years ago, the head of a district safety office was clobbered in the back of the head, leading to immediate death,” she explained.
Better to clobber the leading nomenklatura, apparatchiks and security goons in Pyongyang but this still sends a message.
Security agents are no exception. A few years ago in the cities of Kimchaek and Hoeryong, security agents were stabbed to death, throwing the areas into turmoil. “According to investigations, the incidents were all based on personal grudges and revenge for other family members,” said the source.

“No one speaks well of safety and security agencies,” the source said. Recently, in the city of Rajin, a middle-aged agent who had served as a customs’ official was beaten by traders in broad daylight in front of the provincial People’s Committee office, she said. The source said the official had given trade workers a difficult time and had earned himself a bad reputation.

“Some safety agents say they can’t do this any longer. More of them are worried that although they might be up on a high horse now that situation may change at any point in the future,” the source reported. This is why, although it may be late in the game, some are choosing ‘safer’ options and seeking employment at trade companies, which are also more lucrative as well, she added.

Another source in the same North Hamkyung Province reported of similar sentiments shared among central and provincial administrative Party officials. Following the execution of key officials such as Jang Song Thaek and other high-ranking cadre members, officials are less ambitious about climbing up the ranks and more content with the status quo, he said. Being in higher ranking posts not only exposes them more to the leadership but also to the public.

“Safety agents these days talk about how in the mid ‘80s, when China first announced it would open up to reforms, people took revenge against malicious cadre,” he said. “They talk of some even being beaten to death,” the source added.

N.Korea Conducts Engine Test at Missile Launch Site
North Korea recently conducted an engine test at a newly expanded rocket launch site near the West Sea, satellite imagery suggests. Citing satellite photos taken late last week, specialist website 38 North said scorch marks measuring 60 m in length and 27 m in width were spotted south of the launch pad in Tongchang-ri, North Pyongan Province.

A photo of the same location taken last month showed the area covered with foliage.
Before and after photos at the link.
38 North said two large structures are being constructed in front of the launch pad, which appear to be storage facilities for oxidizing agents. Once the storage facilities are completed, the North's engine testing capabilities will be strengthened, the website said. But there are no signs of an imminent missile launch.

N.Korea Ultimatum: Stop Propaganda Broadcasts
North Korea is warning the South to stop broadcasting anti-North propaganda across the border though loudspeakers by Saturday or face a strong military counter-action. The North's deputy UN ambassador, An Myong-hun, told reporters in New York the army does not make "empty talk."

An said the broadcasts constituted "an open act of war" and that North Korean leader Fat Boy Kim Jong-un has ordered troops near the demilitarized zone to enter a "quasi state of war."
That's the surest sign of all that Pudgy is worried that the propaganda broadcasts are having an effect. The South should expand them, not stop. The South should also launch a balloon barrage, each balloon containing a 1000 won note, a choco-pie, and a short note that says that after Pudgy is worm-food everyone can have more choco-pies.
U.S. and South Korean troops have resumed joint military exercises after a highly unusual interruption. A Pentagon official said Friday the maneuvers were suspended this week after an exchange of artillery fire between the North and South along the western end of the border dividing the two Koreas.

Assistant Defense Secretary David Shear said U.S. officials wanted to coordinate with the South Koreans after the shelling between the North and South. "When events like this take place, we talk to [South Korea] to get the facts straight about what happened and to discuss how we are going to respond," he said.

Shear refused to give any other details, but said U.S. forces in Korea entered the exercises on an "enhanced" state of alert and remain so.

Tensions grew earlier this month when South Korea accused the North of planting landmines that exploded near the border two weeks ago, wounding two South Korean soldiers. North Korea is accusing the South of trying to provoke a war.

Oil plunges below $40: Longest losing streak in 29 years
[ARABNEWS] US crude oil prices on Friday plunged below $40 a barrel for the first time since the 2009 financial crisis, notching their longest weekly losing streak in 29 years after a further rise in US drilling and a drop in Chinese manufacturing.

US October crude fell $1.07, or 2.6 percent, to $40.25 a barrel by 1:41 p.m. EDT (1741 GMT), having touched a new 6-1/2-year low of $39.86 a barrel. Front-month US crude has fallen 33 percent over eight consecutive weeks of losses, the longest such losing streak since 1986.

Brent oil fell $1.27, or 2.8 percent, to $45.35 a barrel, after hitting a low of $45.09 and threatening to break below $45 a barrel for the first time since March 2009, Reuters reported

#6  The biggest question is why gasoline prices are still at about the same level as they were when oil was at +$95 a barrel.

Me thinks Congress and/or the state assembly in Californicate passed some kind of gasoline tax increase that has not been announced.

The states and Federal Governments receive more revenue from the taxation of the sale of gasoline than the oil companies do from manufacture and sales...that's the reason gas prices are still high..

The Grand Turk
Turkey: 10 officers indicted for Gulen-related 'terrorism'
[AA.TR] An Ankara court has accepted Friday an indictment accusing 10 coppers of belonging to a group that is allegedly attempting to overthrow the Turkish government.

The suspects are charged with "being member of an armed terrorist organization" -- what government officials call the Gulenist Terrorist Organization -- and "gathering personal information of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
, and his family" for the aforementioned group.

According to the indictment, the suspects gathered the information via a system called DEVA -- Detailed Data Analysis System -- which security forces use to store the personal data of each individual in the country for security purposes.

The coppers, who had also been previously charged for "seizing personal information illegally", reportedly conveyed the information gathered to the group in 2012-2013, the indictment said.

The Turkish government accuses the Gulen movement, led by U.S.-based Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen, of plotting to overthrow the government by infiltrating state institutions, mainly the police and the judiciary.

India-Pakistan
Indo-Pak security adviser level talks in jeopardy
[DAWN] Security adviser level talks between India and Pakistain, scheduled for August 23 and 24, are in deep trouble as both nations reached a deadlock over Pakistain's insistence to hold a meeting with Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders in New Delhi on August 23 despite India's 'advice' to the contrary.

According to India's government-run news agency -- Press Trust of India -- talks were called off by Indian authorities on Friday. But the news agency immediately toned down its rhetoric saying that talks were "unlikely" after recent developments.

Involvement of political, militant elements possible in Godil attack
[DAWN] KARACHI: Police Sherlocks on Friday said that they have focused on political rivalry and terrorism for destabilisation as possible motives behind the attack on Muttahida Qaumi Movement
...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead...
(MQM) politician Abdul Rashid Godil. It was also suggested that a nexus might exist between the two elements.

The security forces had previously considered both motives separately, this is the first time that a possible nexus has been suggested.

During the last two days, security forces have conducted search operations in different areas of the city and detained over 30 people for questioning.

"Three suspects are being questioned in relation to the identity and motive of the attackers," said a police brass hat, who is part of the investigation team.

"CCTV footage showed that the suspects chased the politician after he left his residence, the suspects who shot and critically injured Godil and killed his driver did not appear to be the same," stated the police official.

"It appears that one group chased the politician while another group attacked him," added the police official.

Security officials investigating the case have obtained CCTV footage from multiple locations, but are unable to identify the attackers or the registration numbers of the vehicles used in the attack.

"We have decided to seek assistance from both local and foreign experts," remarked the police official.

Another police official who wished to remain anonymous said that the district police was focusing on possible involvement of activists of two political parties while special units of the police were focusing on the possible involvement of myrmidon elements.

Pakistan flags again raised in held Kashmir
[DAWN] The flags of Pakistain were raised here on Friday ahead of talks scheduled to be held between the national security advisers (NSAs) of India and Pakistain.

The flags were seen near Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta.
Ah, yes. A mosque. Why am I not surprised?
Kashmiri leader Shabbir Shah said the Indian government should review its rigid stand over the talks because its stand was very weak.

Mr Shah told the ANI news agency: "Discussions (between India and Pakistain) won't make progress without the Kashmire issue.... It is not right to dictate the government of Pakistain that it should not meet the Hurriyat leaders. Government of India should reject this rigidness; their stand is very weak."

He said the Kashmire issue was very important and if the Indian government wanted to discuss it with the Kashmiri leaders they were ready for a dialogue.

MQM says no more talks, resignations final
[DAWN] Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) late Friday night in a statement released on its website announced that its members’ resignations from all three legislative floors were final, adding that it would not partake in dialogue over the matter anymore.

The statement said the decision was taken at an emergency joint session of MQM’s Rabita Committees in London and Karachi.

The party says it will temporarily abandon parliamentary politics and focus on the “establishment of a province and welfare activities.”

The statement goes on to say the party had unanimously decided to tender resignations in protest and the government will have to “accept them at every cost.”

Taliban continues holding gatherings in Pakistan despite Afghanistan anger
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan Taliban leaders continue holding gatherings in Pakistain amid rift caused due to the appointment of Mullah Akhtar Mansoor as group's new chief.

Despite the Afghan government's frustration with Pakistain for allowing forces of Evil to meet on its territory, Mullah Mansoor met with the influential holy mans in a bid to heal a rift after the death of Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.

Afghan officials slammed Pakistain for providing shelter to myrmidon groups which grabbed credit behind a series of deadly bombings in capital Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
earlier this month.

In the meantime, the group's front man Zabiullah Mujahid has said the meeting between several Taliban leaders and the holy mans ended without a conclusion to remove differences.

Mullah Mansoor was appointed as the new Taliban chief shortly after Mullah Mohammad Omar's death was confirmed, sparking differences among the senior Taliban figures, including Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
's son who rejected the way Mullah Mansoor was selectd.

It was expected that the holy mans council would announce their decision regarding the group's new chief on Thursday.

There are fears of further rift among the Taliban leadership if a new leader is appointed for the Taliban group and Mullah Mansoor and his supporters decline to accept the outcome.

Mullah Mansoor is backed by the Al-Qaeda and the powerful Haqqani terrorist network.

Europe warned for discrimination against migrants
[AA.TR] The International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Friday has warned against discrimination of migrants, after Slovakia announced it would only accept Christian migrants.

"We oppose all discrimination: gender-sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity," against migrants, IOM front man Joel Millman said in Geneva.

Noting that they had received some reports from Slovakia and Hungary indicating religious discrimination against migrants, Millman said: "We do not like to single out Europe. It is a worldwide problem and we oppose it. We oppose any discrimination."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US 'will act firmly' if Iran reneges on nuke deal
[ARABNEWS] The US will respond firmly if Iran fails to honor the accord aimed at curbing its nuclear program, President Barack Obama
I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go...
said Friday, as he works to win over undecided US politicians.

"We have a wide array of unilateral and multilateral responses that we can employ if Iran fails to meets its commitments," Obama said in a letter dated Aug. 19 and sent to Jerrold Nadler, a Democrat in the House of Representatives who announced that he will vote to approve the accord.

In his letter released by the White House, Obama reiterated his view that the accord reached last month in Vienna is good for the United States, Israel and the Middle East in general.

The president also insisted, as he has many times, that all options remain on the table if Iran does not abide by the accord.

Yes indeed, same ones employed previously I'd reckon. Worked quite well didn't they ?

A key indicator of his profound ignorance is reflected in his failure to read and think through these statements before he utters them. Of course ignorance fails to take into account intentional deception.... or does it ?

Well, the U.S., owing to the provisions of the deal that I am aware of as well as the "cluster" Mr. Obama has made of foreign policy, will be setting the table alone.

"on the table":
1. Up for discussion.
2. Put aside for consideration at a later date.

Israeli Syria Raids Aimed at Boosting Terrorists' Morale: Sources
[ALMANAR.LB] The latest Israeli raids on Syria are aimed at boosting the morale of the terrorist bully boyz operating in Golan Heights, Syrian sources told al-Manar on Friday.

The raids are also aim to cover the attacks carried out by the Takfiri

gunnies in Daraa and Quneitra, according to the sources.

Earlier on Thursday, Zionist warplanes bombed an area in Syria's southwestern province of Quneitra after the occupation military claimed four rockets fired from the Syrian soil hit the northern occupied territories.

Official news agency in Syrian, SANA, reported that the raids targeted the Transport Directorate and the Governorate's Building.

Following the raid, the Syrian army announced full readiness following calls by terrorist commanders to utilize form the Israeli aerial coverage and stage attacks against army checkpoints in Quneitra.

Assad's Syrian Forces Begin Working With Kurds
[Rudaw] DAMASCUS, Syria - Military cooperation between Syrian government troops and the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) has been instrumental in pushing back Islamic State (ISIS) militants from the town of Hasaka in Syria's northeast, a top Syrian official told Rudaw.

Ali Haidar, the Syrian Minister for National Reconciliation, said it was that cooperation which effectively led to the ISIS defeat in many areas, including Hasaka.

ISIS militants attacked Hasaka earlier in June and recaptured several neighborhoods within days. The YPG said early this month that its forces had regained "complete control" of the city after an offensive lasting more than a month.

"The result of the cooperation was that we prevented Hasaka falling to ISIS," Haidar said, adding that top-level coordination was needed for the operation.

Haidar heads a committee in the Syrian parliament that seeks to start a national dialogue among different groups. Haidar said the primary objective was to "confront terror."

Kurdish groups have accused the committee of sidelining Kurdish demands, as no Kurd is represented in the eight-member board.

"There are no Kurds in the committee but there could be in future committees," Haidar said, adding that he represented all Syrian people, including the Kurds.

Several opposition figures and representatives for the Syrian government held a second round of talks in Moscow last week to find a common solution to the humanitarian issue facing the country for the fifth year.

Syrian government envoys and members of its opposition agreed on August 8 on a six-point plan proposed by the Russian government, which includes ending military operations, fighting terror, political transition and release of detainees, according to the Syrian state news agency, SANA.

"There will be no political solution before terror is dealt with in the country which is threatening everyone at the moment," the minister said.

"When terror is no longer an immediate national concern, then political process will find a way for talks," he added.

The minister said Russia was supporting Syria both militarily and economically, and helping opposing groups reach a deal.

"Russia believes in a centralized government and army that confronts terror," he added, praising Moscow's role.

He said that, according to the country's constitution, Bashar al-Assad remains president of Syria and that any change to the political system will require a new constitution.
This also would be an alliance of hampering Turkish ambitions for Northern Syria.
