UN to lift sanctions on Eritrea after US shift
[JOURNALDUCAMEROUN] The UN Security Council is preparing to lift sanctions on Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
after the United States dropped its insistence on prolonging the measures despite a peace deal with Æthiopia, diplomats said Friday.

Britannia circulated a draft resolution to the council on Thursday that calls for lifting the arms embargo and all travel bans, asset freezes and targeted sanctions on Eritrea, according to the text seen by AFP.

The council is to vote on the proposed resolution on November 14. Diplomats said they expected the measure to be adopted after the US change in position.

Eritrea and Æthiopia signed a peace deal in July, but the United States, backed by La Belle France and Britannia, insisted that Eritrea would first have to show progress on respect for human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
before sanctions could be lifted.

That position however recently changed ‐ a shift some diplomats said was decided by US national security adviser John Bolton, who dealt with the Eritrea-Æthiopia conflict when he served as UN ambassador.

The council slapped sanctions on Eritrea in 2009 for its alleged support to al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
jihadists in Somalia but the draft resolution acknowledged that UN monitors had "not found conclusive evidence that Eritrea supports al-Shabaab."

The Eritrean government had long denied backing the group and Foreign Minister Osman Mohammed Saleh slammed the sanctions as "unwarranted" in his address to the General Assembly in September.

Arabia
New details emerge regarding Saada incident blamed on coalition
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] New details emerged regarding the August bus incident in Saada which was targeted by the Arab coalition, exposing the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias’ propaganda.

Testimonies from journalists who were close to the site of the incident in Dhahian on August 9 indicate a different scenario from that of the pro-Iranian militias.

Although both the Arab coalition backing the legitimate government in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
and the joint Assessment Team had confirmed back in August that the targeted bus in Saada was carrying senior members of the Houthi militias and that the only mistake was probably the timing and location. The Houthi militia and its media outlets have been exploiting the accident, falsifying the facts, and suggesting that the bus was carrying innocent children.

Jamal Muqbel al-Gharab, a member in the Yemeni Media Union which is affiliated to the Houthis, revealed new details about the incident, after he defected from the group and left the country to a safer location.

Gharab said now he was free to tell what happened that day as he "left Yemen and secured his life", adding in a statement he posted few days ago on his Facebook page that he wanted to give his testimony on humanitarian grounds and to clear his conscience.

He said: "When I saw and heard that the Arab coalition aircraft targeted a bus carrying dozens of children in Dhahyan, in Saada, I was saddened by this incident like other thousands of Yemenis."

The defected journalist Gharab added that he had visited the site of the incident as part of a Houthi media and human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
delegation headed by Hashim Sharaf el-Dinne, deputy Information minister in the coup government.

Gharab said: "But I found a reality different from the one promoted by the Houthi media," as after more than two hours of investigation and the collecting of information and photos, and through the testimonies of many people and eyewitnesses and owners of neighboring shops, the bus was carrying a group of the Houthi militias, headed by Salah Faiq Mohammed al-Sabeen and Yahya Bashiri who were killed in the raid. This information, he said, is the same as already confirmed by a lot of other media colleagues, led by journalist Samia al-Aghbari at the time, and anyone can refer to her page, in reference to her Facebook account.

Saudi got rid of Jamal Khashoggi's body by 'dissolving' it, claims Turkish official
[DAWN] The body of Jamal Khashoggi was "dissolved" after he was murdered and dismembered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul a month ago, a Ottoman Turkish official said Friday, as the journalist's fiancee criticised the United States (US) reaction as "devoid of moral foundation".

The murder of the royal insider-turned-critic has provoked widespread outrage and fuelled an international debate
... an expenditure of personal wind at the national level that leads to face-making and other histrionics but can't be shown to have ever solved an issue ...
about arms deliveries to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
's chief prosecutor on Wednesday confirmed for the first time that Khashoggi was strangled as soon as he entered the consulate on October 2 as part of a planned hit, and his body was then dismembered and destroyed.

"We now see that it wasn't just cut up, they got rid of the body by dissolving it," Yasin Aktay, an official in Turkey's ruling party, told the Hurriyet newspaper on Friday.

The claim echoed what a Ottoman Turkish official had earlier told the Washington Post ─ for which Khashoggi was a contributor ─ that authorities are investigating a theory the body was destroyed in acid.

"According to the latest information we have, the reason they cut up the body is it was easier to dissolve it," said Aktay, an adviser to Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

who was close to Khashoggi. "They aimed to ensure no sign of the body was left."

#1  Most notable regarding Khashoggi's murder is the sudden availability of oil and reduction in oil prices. Trump is no longer mentioning that the KSA is not pumping enough oil to cover the loss of Iranian oil during the embargo.

Britain
Amnesty activists rename London street for Khashoggi
Ugh.
[PULSE.NG] Amnesty International campaigners on Friday renamed the road outside the Saudi Arabian embassy in London as "Khashoggi Street" to mark the one-month anniversary of the dissident journalist's murder in Turkey.

Activists from the London-based NGO temporarily erected a mock street sign in front of the diplomatic compound, in the British capital's wealthy Mayfair district, in a symbolic gesture honouring Jamal Khashoggi.

They staged the Friday lunchtime stunt to coincide with the time that he was last seen alive entering the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

'Gov. Miguel Angel Yunes of Veracruz tells caravanestas - 'sorry no buses'
You must proceed via leather cadillacs.
[AP] SAYULA, Mexico (AP) ‐ Thousands of Central American migrants traveling in a caravan through southern Mexico had their brief hopes of reaching the country’s capital on Saturday dashed after the governor of Veracruz state pulled an offer of dozens of buses to take them there.

Gov. Miguel Angel Yunes announced Friday evening that authorities in Veracruz would be providing not only humanitarian assistance to the migrants but buses to leapfrog them to Mexico City after three grueling weeks spent walking along highways and hitching rides to reach the coastal state.

"It is very important that they be able to move soon from Veracruz toward another place," Yunes said in a video message. "For that reason, we also offered them transportation so that, if possible, tomorrow ... they may be able to go to Mexico City or to the place they wish."

Organizers of the caravan of about 4,000 migrants told its members that they would be leaving the town of Sayula around 5 a.m. Saturday in convoys of 10 buses for the 10- to 12-hour trip. A jubilant caravan coordinator told the group: "We are all going!"

But almost immediately afterward, Yunes released a second video saying that because Mexico City’s water system was undergoing maintenance and 7 million of its people would be without water over the weekend, it would not be correct to send the migrants there. The maintenance has been known about for weeks.

Migrant surge 'normal', US should not reinforce border: UN official
[Al Ahram] The caravan of migrants colonists making its way through Mexico is "kind of a normal event" and the United States ought not to reinforce its border against them, a United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
official said on Friday.

With days to go before mid-term elections, US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
has called the surge of people an "invasion", ordered troops to the border and suggested any rock-throwing by migrants colonists should be treated as equivalent to gunfire.

Joel Millman, a front man for the UN’s International Organization for Migration (IOM), told a UN briefing in Geneva there had been similar caravans for many years, and the group was still hundreds of miles away from the United States.

"So (using) words like ’invasion’ and things like that is assuming that this is a new phenomenon which is a drastic emergency, and I don’t think that anyone at IOM would share that view," he said.

"This is kind of a normal event."

Militarised frontiers tended not to deter people from crossing borders, he added. Instead, they increased the profits of criminal people-smuggling gangs and led to deaths among migrants colonists.

"Militarising the border is not something we are ever in favor of," he said.

The migrant group has become a major issue in campaigning for the elections on Nov. 6, when Republicans will seek to maintain control of both congressional chambers.

Two in five Americans say Islam 'is incompatible with US values'
[Al Jazeera] A large proportion of non-Moslem Americans think Islam is incompatible with American values, research by the New America foundation and the American Moslem Institution found.

According to the findings announced on Thursday, 56 percent of Americans believed Islam was compatible with American values and 42 percent said it was not. About 60 percent believed US Moslems were as patriotic as others, while 38 percent they were not.

The study said that although a big majority of Americans - 74 percent - accepted there was "a lot" of bigotry against Moslems existed, 56 percent said they were concerned about "extremism" spreading within the Moslem community.

Ex-FBI agent caught teaching police Islamophobic ideas
Researchers found that Republicans were more likely to hold negative perceptions of Moslems and Islam, with 71 percent saying Islam was incompatible with American values. About 56 percent of Republicans also admitted they would be concerned if a mosque was built in their neighbourhood.

A slight majority of Republicans disagreed with the statement that having more than 100 Moslem candidates in the midterm elections was a positive thing.

Robert McKenzie, a senior fellow at the New America foundation and one of the authors of the study, said there were a number of factors that contributed the shaping of anti-Moslem sentiment, and that they were not limited to the political right.

Tanzeem Ittehad-i-Ummat calls for nationwide calm, peaceful protests
[DAWN] Lahore-based Tanzeem Ittehad-e-Ummat Chairman Zia ul Haq Naqshbandi, while addressing a presser on Friday, called for nationwide calm and urged protest leaders to ask their followers to desist from hurting people or damaging personal property.

The head of the religious organization appealed to the nation in a presser accompanied by other religious leaders at Lahore Press Club.

"This is not a time to fight each other, it is a time to be peaceful, to have courage. Are we trying to tell the world that we [religious leaders] are politically inclined? That we are snuffies and want to harm our own people?" he asked.

"We request protesters and their leadership that they tell their followers... That they can protest, but don't take people's lives or damage private property. Take care of minorities. All citizens in Pakistain have equal rights."

Government, TLP reach agreement; state to take legal measures to place Asia Bibi's name on ECL
[DAWN] The government and Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP) have reached terms to conclude the latter's nationwide protest, DawnNewsTV has reported, with the government making the concession to "initiate the legal process" to place Asia Bibi's name on the exit control list (ECL).
They freed her from prison, only to make the entire country an open-air prison for her and hers. What a lovely contry Pakistan is, to be sure.
The government has also said it will not oppose a review petition filed against the Supreme Court's judgement in the Asia Bibi blasphemy case.

The government has also promised to take appropriate legal action to redress any deaths that may have occurred during the protests against the Asia Bibi verdict and to release all people picked up in connection with the protests starting October 30.

The TLP has, in turn, apologised if it "hurt the sentiments or inconvenienced anyone without reason".

The agreement was signed by Dr Noorul Haq Qadri (religious affairs minister) and Raja Basharat (law minister Punjab) on behalf of the government, and by Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri (big shot of the TLP) and Muhammad Waheed Noor (central chief nazim
...small time big shot, the chief elected official of a local government in Pakistan, such as a district, tehsil, union council, or village council...
of the TLP).

Following the agreement with the government, the TLP leaders addressed the participants of their protest in Lahore and asked them to end the protest and clear the roads, DawnNewsTV reported.

Violence leaves 174 dead, wounded in Iraq in October, lowest since 10/2012
Baghdad (IraqiNew.com) Violence left 174 Iraqis dead and maimed throughout the month of October, the United Nations

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. militancy.

According to a monthly toll released by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), 69 Iraqis died and 105 were maimed during October in actions of violence and armed conflict.

UNAMI said its numbers continue to exclude military personnel, but still include off-duty security and military members, as well as civil defense and public utility sentries.

It quoted the head of the UN mission, Jan Kubis, saying that the toll, though regrettable, is the lowest since October 2012, which gives a positive sign that the country moves out the circle of violence.

UNAMI said Nineveh and Baghdad, respectively, were the most affect with 29 deaths.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State bully boyz late 2017, ending three years of war to retake territories occupied by the murderous Moslem group. But the bully boyz continue to stage occasional attacks against security members and civilians.

Egypt delegation visits Israel-Gaza border protests amid truce negotiations
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Egyptian security delegation visited protests along the Gazoo-Israel border Friday, organizers said, as it sought to broker a long-term truce between Israel and the Paleostinian faction of Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,.

In the first such publicly announced visit by Egyptian officials, the delegation briefly attended the Paleostinian demonstrations in northern Gazoo, a statement from the head of the organizing committee said.

Eyewitnesses said a car carrying the delegation briefly drove to a protest site a few hundred meters from the border, before departing.

Friday’s protests come amid talk of a breakthrough in months of Egyptian-led negotiations.

A truce deal would see the often-violent protests end in exchange for an easing of Israel’s crippling blockade of the Gazoo Strip.

Turkish intelligence informs rebels to get ready for battle east of Euphrates
[ALMASDARNEWS] Ottoman Turkish intelligence officers have reportedly informed the rebel forces in the Afrin region of northwest Aleppo that their next battle will be east of the Euphrates River.

Citing reliable sources which attended the meeting held in Afrin city, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the Euphrates Shield troops were informed to get ready to redeploy to a new front against the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

"Ottoman Turkish Intelligence deliberately directed its talk to all the factions and specified those factions whose fighters are descendent (sic) from areas in Deir Ezzor, al-Raqqah and al-Hasakah provinces, in order to create a sedition between the Kurdish and the Arabs in the area, and the Ottoman Turkish forces tend to send Kurdish fighters loyal to them in the incoming battle of the east of the Euphrates so that their intention to create a sedition will not be revealed, and the Syrian Observatory published hours ago," they reported.

said earlier this week that his country’s forces were going to launch a new military operation against "terrorist groups" east of the Euphrates River.

The alleged "terrorist groups" Erdogan mentioned were the YPG and SDF, who he claims are offshoots of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

US re-imposes all Iran sanctions lifted under nuclear deal
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Trump administration on Friday announced the re-imposition of all US. sanctions on Iran that had been lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal.

The sanctions will take effect on Monday and cover Iran’s shipping, financial and energy sectors. It’s the second batch of penalties that the administration has re-imposed since President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
withdrew from the landmark deal in May.

With limited exceptions, the sanctions will penalize countries that don’t stop importing Iranian oil and foreign companies that do business with blacklisted Iranian entities, including Iran’s central bank, a number of private financial institutions and state-run port and shipping companies.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the sanctions are "aimed at fundamentally altering the behavior of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran."

He has released a list of 12 demands that Iran must meet if it wants the sanctions lifted. They include ending support for terrorism, ending military engagement in Syria and completely halting its nuclear and ballistic missile development.

"Maximum pressure means maximum pressure," he said.

Pompeo said eight nations, which other officials identified as US allies such as Italia, India, Japan and South Korea, will receive temporary waivers allowing them to continue to import Iranian petroleum products for a limited period as long as they end such imports entirely. He said those countries had made efforts to eliminate their imports but could not complete the task by Monday’s deadline.

Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said 700 more Iranian companies and people would be added to the sanctions lists under the reimposed sanctions.

Iran hard-liners in Congress and elsewhere probably will be disappointed in the sanctions because they were pushing for no oil import waivers as well as the complete disconnection of Iran from the main international financial messaging network known as SWIFT.

Mnuchin defended the move to allow some Iranian banks to remain connected to SWIFT, saying that the Belgium-based firm had been warned that it will face penalties if sanctioned institutions are permitted to use it.

Pompeo and Mnuchin both said the sanctions will have exceptions for humanitarian purchases.

Caravan Migrants File Lawsuit Against Trump, U.S. Government
Hattip Besoeker.
[Bongino] Twelve migrants colonists traveling on foot from Honduras to the United States filed a lawsuit against President Trump and the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday.

The lawsuit claims the migrant’s Fifth Amendment due process rights would be violated and that the president cannot utilize the military to stop asylum-seekers from entering the country when they have a fair claim. It also criticizes President Trump for stoking "fear and hysteria" with his claim that gang members have joined the migrant caravan.

Twelve Honduran nationals are listed as plaintiffs in the suit which was filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. The lawsuit said the "well-documented human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
crisis" in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador is widely known. It also claims the plaintiff’s right to the Administrative Procedures Act and the Declaratory Judgement Act were being infringed upon.

During a Thursday speech on immigration at the White House, President Trump said his administration was finalizing a plan to end the abuse of the United States’ asylum program.

"The biggest loophole drawing illegal aliens to our borders is the use of fraudulent or meritless asylum claims to gain entry into our great country," said Trump. "An alien simply crosses the border illegally, finds a Border Patrol agent, and using well-coached language ‐ by lawyers and others that stand there trying to get fees or whatever they can get ‐ they’re given a phrase to read. They never heard of the phrase before. They don’t believe in the phrase. But they’re given a little legal statement to read, and they read it. And now, all of a sudden, they’re supposed to qualify. But that’s not the reason they’re here."

#2  The fact that they refused asylum in Mexico makes their 'fair claim' totally bullshit.

But I'm sure the democrats are shopping for a judge right now.

#3  Migrants have to shop for a sympathetic judge.

#4  Any judge wants to rise their hand for being impeached? They're foreigners in a foreign land, they have no standing as there is no jurisdiction involved. There is no need to examine any issue involved. Other than the judiciary's long running game to subordinate the people and the rest of the government to their rule by fiat.

#5  And what are the rules about standing to bring suit?

At the least they have to get here, no?

#6  The lawsuit, which was filed by Mike Donovan of Libre Nexus, alleged that Trump’s vow to send the migrants back to their country of origin violates the Fifth Amendment. Tucker Carlson gave him a Constitutional lesson the other night, correcting the faulty logic.
“Let me just correct you as a non-lawyer. They do not possess those rights if they are in another country and not U.S. citizens. If they possess those rights, then, I don’t know, the entire country of Nigeria — pick a country that is poorer than the United States and say ‘we want to come there,’ president says you can’t come and all of a sudden eight hundred million people sue you for violating their constitutional rights for a country they’ve never been to?” Carlson responded before being cut off.

Libre Nexus is facilitating this illegal migration and could be sued by the victims. Ran into this get out-of-jail without collateral scam reading about Beto's shady financing.
