Afghanistan
Over 100 women police officer rehired in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province
[ANI] Over 100 women coppers have been rehired in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, as a ray of hope for women amid the grave challenges of human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
violations in the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
-led country.

According to state media, Tolo News, the officials of the Badakhshan Police Command said, "More than one hundred female coppers have been rehired and the majority of these female coppers had previously served in the previous administration.".

"We have about 20 to 25 officers and lieutenants and 70 to 80 female soldiers," said Badakhshan Police Commander Abdulhaq Abu Omer, as quoted by Tolo News.

In this province, female coppers are in charge of conducting house-to-house inspections and searching women. "As criminal department officers, we go when there is a criminal act and enter the house," Khaleda, a police officer, said.

"We search the house and we arrest the women and hand them over to the criminal department," said Gol Jan, a policewoman, reported Tolo News.

Ever since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the plight of Afghan women has continued to be deplorable in the country.

Contrary to the Taliban's claims, girls were stopped from going to school beyond sixth grade on March 23 and a decree against the women's dress code was issued after a month. There are restrictions on movement, education and freedom of expression of women posing a threat to their survival.

Not only this, the lack of female healthcare workers has prevented the women from accessing basic medical facilities, and the international donors, who fund 90 per cent of health clinics, are hesitant to send money because of their fear of the funds being misused.

Around 80 per cent of women working in the media have lost their jobs, and almost 18 million women in the country are struggling for health, education and social rights. Many women, particularly those who worked in security agencies, lost their jobs after the Islamic Emirate was re-established.

The United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) released a report the previous month, outlining the human rights situation in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover.

The report summarized UNAMA's findings with regards to the protection of civilians, extrajudicial killings, torture and ill-treatment, arbitrary arrests and detentions, the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan, fundamental freedoms and the situation in places of detention.

Amid this, the rehiring of women officers comes as a ray of hope for the women facing several severe challenges in the country.

Some female police forces urged the Islamic Emirate to allow more women to work in government institutions. "We ask the Islamic Emirate to let all the women return to their jobs," said Mashoqa, a police officer.

#1  as a ray of hope for women

Really? Okay I can't laugh at this. The slavery of women and their gradual integration into the process itself is something that infuriates me.

#2  The question is whether this will lead to the softening of Taliban rules, or whether the ladies will just become another female morality police. But still, it is news.

Taliban’s Program for Beggars in Afghan Capital Rounds Up Thousands
How many of them did not need to beg under the previous government?
[KhaamaPress] Following an order from the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
supreme leader, over 8,000 beggars have been rounded up from the streets of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, Taliban authorities said.

The Taliban government’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, on Sunday, September 25, stated that 8,444 beggars, including 5,779 women, had been rounded up from various areas around Kabul.

Only 1,750 of these women have been identified as "deserving," according to the statement, and the remaining women are "professional" beggars.

The Taliban Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who also chairs the "Beggar Collection Committee", stated that out of the 718 men who were collected as beggars, 236 were found to be "deserving" and the remaining 482 were determined to be professional beggars.

There are more than 1947 children among the beggars collected, 1079 of whom are identified as deserving and 41 of them are orphans, according to information provided by the Taliban government.

According to the announcement, orphaned beggar children have been transferred to the educational facilities under the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs after undergoing biometric registration.

The orphaned children are said to receive education in these facilities in addition to sustenance and shelter.

The Taliban government says that hundreds of individuals have already benefited from the cash assistance program that the Afghan Red Islamic Thingy Society has begun to provide to deserving beggars. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
the fate of the "professional" beggars remains uncertain.

Previously, the Taliban supreme leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, ordered the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban to work with the relevant authorities to begin the process of rounding up panhandlers from Kabul city and addressing and resolving their problems.

#1  Begging is a good profession. You can make decent money, work your own hours, be your own boss, and pay no taxes. Actual poor people who have no choice are few, as depicted here.

#2  Trying to be a UAE. That's A-rabs, yo! Oil drenched, muslin wearin', Bugatti drivin', club groovin' A-rabs! Y'all gonna never get there!

What they should do is tax the beggars. Make them pay protection money like every other South asian bureaucracy.

#3  the fate of the "professional" beggars remains uncertain.

Ima guess they will not be "learning to code" or be given jobs going door to door to check on COVID vaccine compliance.

Scaled Replica of Al-Qaeda Leader's Hideout on Display in CIA Museum
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) displayed the replica of Ayman al-Zawahiri
...Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodox al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...
’s hideout in the CIA museum, which was used to plan the US drone operation that killed the al-Qaeda supremo last month.

Inside the CIA’s Virginia headquarters is the organization’s museum, which has a scale replica of the five-story house with white walls and three partially covered balconies where the al-Qaeda chief was killed.

The museum is only open to guests and staff of the agency; it is not open to the public. As part of a larger initiative to highlight the agency’s history and accomplishments, the CIA reportedly permitted journalists to tour the museum, which had recently been renovated in time for the CIA’s 75th anniversary.
"And here's where we plotted with MI-6 and the FBI on the Trump Dossier"
Nearly a year after the US withdrew from Afghanistan, concluding a two-decade conflict in which the CIA played a key part; al-Zawahiri was killed using the unique scale model of his residence in Kabul.

Two Hellfire missiles launched from a CIA drone killed the al-Qaeda leader while causing very little damage elsewhere to prevent non-combatant fatalities.

The group has not yet been successful in finding Ayman al-Zawahiri’s body according to a Taliban

official, after stating that the group did not have the knowledge of the al-Qaeda chief’s stay in Kabul.

Somalia: Somaliland postpones presidential election, raising political tension
[Garowe] The people of Somaliland, the breakaway region in northern Somalia, will after all not vote for their favorite presidential candidate, it has now emerged, with the electoral commission confirming the worst fears on Saturday, a move which could trigger political tensions.

Already, the opposition parties have been pushing the government to obey the laws while accusing President Muse Bihi Abdi of frustrating the process for his own political gains, a move which activated chaos in the streets of Hargeisa, the region's administrative capital.

The Somaliland Electoral Commission on Saturday confirmed that it was not in a position to hold presidential elections, citing financial and technical issues. Initially, the commission had scheduled November 13 as the date for the presidential election.

Despite the latest setback, the commission said they will be able to hold the elections in nine months, almost a one-year delay. The opposition team led by Wadani and UCID parties responded to the quagmire and said they will protest the move.

Abdirahman Irro, the leader of the Waddani party and presidential candidate had recently hailed the decision by the Lower House to approve the political parties Bill which was due to be affirmed by the Upper House usually called Guurti, or the house of elders.

"I do express my appreciation and gratitude to the Honorable MPs of SL's House of Representatives for approving today's amendments to Law No. 14/2011 and Law No. 91/2020 to save the country from both constitutional and political crises," he had said.

"By holding presidential elections and elections for political associations and political parties on the same day. The Somaliland public has already expressed support for the combined election, and the House of Elders [Guurti] is expected to follow suit, " he added.

Last year, the opposition floored the Kulmiye party in the parliamentary elections, bagging 52 of the available 82 seats. The ruling party which secured only 30 seats, has been strategizing on how to bounce back, but there is a general feeling that it will lose more grounds.

Muse Bihi Abdi has been in charge of the state since 2017 and he was accused of failing in the fighting for international recognization but is yet to be recognized by the international community.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud speaking to the Somali community in the US recently reiterated that his government will not accept any means that allow the region to secede from Somalia.

Hassan Sheikh: We established a strategy to defeat Al-Shabaab in Somalia
[Garowe] The al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...

could be counting more losses in the coming weeks in different parts of the country with the government now insisting that it has come up with a better strategy for handling the holy warriors who control large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, in an interview with CNN
...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for...
, dismissed the group 'mafia' hiding in Islam to continue terrorizing innocent civilians in the Horn of Africa nation, which has been struggling with instability for the longest spell in history.

The Somalia president insisted that his administration will not give the holy warriors time to "breathe" arguing that he will try using the military to dislodge the holy warriors besides cutting off their financial loopholes which have sustained al-Shabaab for over a decade.

"Al-Shabaab is a group of mafia shouldering with an Islamic cover; we need to uncover them, take the narrative of Islam back from them and we have established specific instruments for that," Hassan Sheikh, who has announced a sustained crackdown against the holy warriors said.

The Somali president has been calling on partners to help the country regain ground and the recent successes in Hiiraan, Galgaduud, and Bay regions have been instrumental to the country, whose army is fighting along local militia and peacekeeping mission troops to liberate strategic towns.

On Saturday, Jubaland President Ahmed Islam Mohammed Madobe said the country has since changed its strategy in the fight against al-Shabaab, adding that the security teams will no longer sit and wait fit the holy warriors to attack innocent civilians across the country.

"We have been on the defensive a lot; we are going to be on the offensive," said Madobe. " We have been here before but this time we just have to be smart and chase away these people once and for all.

They do not have the strength to withstand an operation from a determined nation."This comes as the Somali National Army announced capturing Labi-Dulle village as al-Shabaab forces of Evil fled before the troops arrived.

The location is about 16KM from El-lahelay, an area of the towns between Dhusamareb and El-Bur of the Galgadud region, state media reported.

Earlier, the al-Shabaab ringleader with a huge amount of arsenal including a military vehicle surrendered to Somali National Troops in the recently liberated Yasooman village of Hiran regional; pending interrogation, reports indicated, citing army officer Abdi Mumin Elmi.

Visiting Israel, Pakistani delegation promotes vision of peace ‘one step at a time’
[IsraelTimes] Despite lack of diplomatic relations, a group featuring a former government minister tours Jerusalem, seeking to lobby Islamabad to join Abraham Accords

While the highly publicized peace agreements between Israel and the UAE, Bahrain and Morocco have grabbed global attention, subtle underground conversations continue with other powerful Islamic countries — Pakistain, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and others.
Hundreds of Paleostinians poured out of Jerusalem’s Old City on a recent weekday carrying two open caskets, painted in deep green and emblazoned with Koranic verses, to the Moslem cemetery just outside the Lion’s Gate. Fighting against the mourning tide, both literally and figuratively, a group of 12 Pak visitors slowly made their way into the ancient city, each step bringing them closer to fulfilling a lifelong dream.

The delegation of Pak community leaders touring the country as part of a regional peace initiative arrived in Israel last Sunday for a six-day visit designed to foster deeper ties between the two countries, which do not have diplomatic relations. The group, some of whom live in the US and some in Pakistain, also met with President Isaac Herzog, local business leaders and political experts.

#1  It's not just some useless fcukers from last year's regime. It's Nasim Ashraf, Gen. Musharaf's darling and friend of the Nawaz family. He's also the number one lobbyist in DC, responsible for churning out bullshit to feed into US foreign policy regarding Pakistain. The Pakistain Studies Center or something like that. They are also tied with ISNA in establishing Paki mullahs as islamic teachers in North America. Their base if ops is New Jersey. At least it was until June this year.

These are snakes. If a 'delegation' representing a country that doesn't recognise yours visits you it's best if something were to happen to them. Say, a bunch of paleos bomb their fcuking car for trying to cosy up to Jews.

#4  Yupp, the same. They have been trying to unite the eastern the sunni Jama'at paradigm of sasquatchery with the sophisticated brotherhood snake for years. The pakis see themselves as the great peacemakers joining the ummah. Because they made huge inroads into Europe and only when they began to clash with the MB interests, they found they had to play ball everywhere, their people had to settle for menial jobs, they would be treated as shit by a-rabs, there'd be no bails and deals when they raped and killed and ran wild in America etc. Especially in America the Jama'at had no foothold. Obama was he was reinforcing his brothers, saw it fit to keep them dis-empowered. Trump went ahead and straight had some deported! And had a hug-a-thon with Modi and marigolds and Jai Hinds!

But now they see another chance... ambition eh?

Iran summons ambassadors of UK, Norway amid protests
[The Hill] Iran’s foreign ministry summoned the ambassadors of the U.K. and Norway over issues it argued constitute meddling in the country’s ongoing unrest, according to state media.

The director-general of Western Europe within Iran’s foreign ministry called out Norway’s Parliament Speaker for allegedly "prejudicing and unrealistic comments" about recent protests in Iran, according to Iran’s official news agency, IRNA.

The U.K. ambassador, meanwhile, was chastised for a London-based, Persian-language "hosting of the media" that Iran believes has produced "provocation and invitation to turbulence and expansion of riots in Iran on top of their agenda," according to a second report from IRNA.

The two issues could be considered by Iran as meddling in Iran’s internal affairs, state media notes.

Iran has experiencing unrest in the week since a 22-year-old woman died in the custody of Iran’s morality police as protesters demonstrate against the country’s strict dress code and clash with security forces.

Mahsa Amini had been arrested for allegedly wearing a hijab improperly and later died while in police custody. Though Iran denies that Amini was mistreated, reports suggest she was beaten while detained, according to a release from the United Nations human rights office.
