Taliban Initiates Security Camera Installation Campaign in Afghan Capital
[KhaamaPress] As the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
has put CCTV cameras at crossroads in an attempt to improve security, the group has asked Kabul residents to install security cameras in their houses.

The Taliban-controlled Afghanistan National Television broadcasted an interview with the spokesperson of the Taliban Kabul Police Chief Office, Khalid Zadran, on Thursday, November 10.

In the interview, Khalid Zadran stated that the Taliban has begun a campaign to install security cameras around Kabul city and that about 2,000 CCTV cameras have already been set up in several areas of the city’s police district 15.

According to Khalid Zadran, the Taliban security officials have initiated this campaign as an attempt and effort to improve the security situation, starting from the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul.

In the interview with National TV, Khaled Zadran asked Kabul citizens to install security cameras in their houses as a sign of their participation in providing and preserving security.

He emphasized that as the campaign is not mandatory, only households with the necessary financial resources could participate to install security cameras and that those without the resources were not obligated to do the installation.

This comes as many countries in the international community are growing concerned about the resurgence of holy warriors and terrorist activities in Afghanistan, while criminality and reports of criminal acts have increased since the Taliban took control.

Shopkeepers in Paktia Complain of High Taxes
[ToloNews] The shopkeepers in the southeastern province of Paktia claimed that they are paying more taxes than they were paying under the previous government.

The shopkeepers said this is the case despite the Islamic Emirate’s decision to reduce the taxes from 1.5 percent to 0.5 percent.

"While the previous government imposed 1.5 percent, the taxes would have been between 14,000 Afs to 15,000 Afs. Now, while the taxes have been reduced to 0.5 percent,

they issued the bill for 200,000 Afs," said Qayom Khan, a shopkeeper.

The shopkeepers said that they are obliged to sell the materials at a high price due to high taxes.

"The tax on me is 334,000 Afs. The business is also not as good as in the time of government. We call on the government to show flexibility with us," said Abdul Qadir Khoshal, owner of a market.

"The materials in my shop are worth around 500,000 Afs and half it is a loan. But I am charged with 200,000 Afs," said Abdullah, a shopkeeper.

Despite consecutive attempts, TOLOnews was unable to obtain any comment from the local officials in this regard.

Last week, the second deputy prime minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, visited Paktia to assess the trade and financial challenges in the country.

The shopkeepers said that there has yet to be any progress in this regard.

Women banned from Afghanistan's gyms: Taliban official
More completely predictable heat under the pot in which the frogs bathe...
[AlAhram] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
are banning women from using gyms in Afghanistan, an official in Kabul said Thursday, the religious group's latest edict cracking down on women's rights and freedoms since they took power more than a year ago.

The Taliban overran the country last year, seizing power in August 2021. They have banned girls from middle school and high school, despite initial promises to the contrary, restricted women from most fields of employment, and ordered them to wear head-to-toe clothing in public.

A front man from the Ministry of Virtue and Vice said the ban was being introduced because people were ignoring gender segregation orders and that women were not wearing the required headscarf, or hijab. Women are also banned from parks.

The ban on women using gyms and parks came into force this week, according to Mohammed Akef Mohajer, a Taliban-appointed front man for the Ministry of Virtue and Vice.

The group has ``tried its best'' over the past 15 months to avoid closing parks and gyms for women, ordering separate days of the week for male and female access or imposing gender segregation, he said.

``But, unfortunately, the orders were not obeyed and the rules were violated, and we had to close parks and gyms for women,'' said Mohajer. ``In most cases, we have seen both men and women together in parks and, unfortunately, the hijab was not observed. So we had to come up with another decision and for now we ordered all parks and gyms to be closed for women.``

Taliban teams will begin monitoring establishments to check if women are still using them, he said.

A female personal trainer told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that women and men were not exercising or training together before at the Kabul gym where she works.

``The Taliban are lying,'' she insisted, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, fearing reprisals. ``We were training separately.

On Thursday, she said two men claiming to be from the Ministry of Virtue and Vice entered her gym and made all the women leave.

``The women wanted to protest about the gyms (closing) but the Taliban came and arrested them,`` she added. ``Now we don't know if they're alive or dead.''

Taliban-appointed Kabul police chief front man Khalid Zadran said he had no immediate information about women protesting gym closures or arrests.

The U.N. special representative in Afghanistan for women, Alison Davidian, condemned the ban. ``This is yet another example of the Taliban's continued and systematic erasure of women from public life,'' she said. ``We call on the Taliban to reinstate all rights and freedoms for women and girls.''

Hard-liners appear to hold sway in the Taliban-led administration, which struggles to govern and remains internationally isolated. An economic downturn has driven millions more Afghans into poverty and hunger as the flow of foreign aid has slowed to a trickle.

Kabul-based women's rights activist muppet Sodaba Nazhand said the bans on gyms, parks, work, and school would leave many women wondering what was left for them in Afghanistan.

``It is not just a restriction for women, but also for children,'' she said. ``Children go to a park with their mothers, now children are also prevented from going to the park. It's so sad and unfair.''

Libya to Pay Medical Bills of 25 Palestinians
[LIBYAREVIEW] Paleostinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Libya "has agreed to treat 25 Paleostinian patients at its expense." Libya also agreed to "disburse a scholarship to Paleostinian students, similar to Libyan students, which would enhance the steadfastness of our people."

In a statement, the Paleostinian Foreign Ministry thanked the "Libyan government and people for the facilities, care, and attention it provides to the Paleostinian people."

According to the Paleostinian news agency WAFA, the MoFA indicated that Libya "treats the members of the community in terms of work, health, and education as Libyans."

On its part, the Paleostinian Embassy in Libya said that the Libyan authorities had "agreed to grant residency permits to Paleostinian retirees and workers in the private sector for a period of 5 years."

As well as "agreeing to grant an exit and re-entry visa for several flights, to members of the Paleostinian community, exempt from fees."

Earlier this year, the Paleostinian Embassy in Libya announced that it had managed to secure the release of 32 Paleostinians, who were tossed into the calaboose for lacking legal travel documents.

In a statement, the Embassy said that their release came after "great efforts by the acting Ambassador, Mohammed Rahhal with the Libyan authorities." It pointed out that efforts are "underway to correct their legal status and residency in Libya."

Libya has emerged as the dominant transit point for migrants colonists fleeing war and poverty in Africa and the Middle East, hoping for a better life in Europe.

Human traffickers have benefitted from the chaos in the country. People are smuggled through the country’s mostly non-existent borders, before being packed into ill-equipped rubber boats, in risky voyages through the perilous central Mediterranean Sea route.

Turkish FM: Libyan Government Not Authorised to Sign Agreements
[LIBYAREVIEW] Ottoman Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu said during a Parliamentary committee meeting that the maritime agreement signed between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
and Libya was "merely a memorandum and that it can’t be approved by the Libyan Parliament," according to Nordic Monitor.

Main opposition politician, and former ambassador, Ünal Ceviköz asked the minister what Turkey had done to make the 2019 MoU with the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) on the delimitation of the maritime jurisdiction areas in the Mediterranean legal and binding. He said that the MOU signed with the GNA "still has not been ratified by the Libyan Parliament."

Ceviköz also raised the latest MOU’s on energy exploration signed on 3 October in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, and questioned whether they were valid in the unstable environment in Libya.

The MP stated that it was "wrong for Turkey to take sides between the forces in Libya for ideological reasons," he added that Turkey has "lost its role of mediator and damaged its reputation due to the mistakes it has made in Syria."

Responding to Ceviköz’s criticism, Cavusoglu stated that the "interim Libyan governments were established under UN initiatives, and that these governments are not authorised to sign international agreements, but are able to sign memorandums."

President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
has repeatedly said Libya’s oil and gas resources were important factors in Turkey’s interest in the country.

Speaking at a joint news conference with the Prime Minister of the GNA, Fayez al-Sarraj, in Ankara on 4 June 2020, President Erdogan stated that, "We aim to expand our cooperation including exploration and drilling operations to take advantage of natural resources in Libyan territory," he said.

Notably, the maritime agreement between Turkey and Libya that determines the Ottoman Turkish-Libyan continental shelf and exclusive economic zone coordinates was the subject of criticism, especially by countries such as Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus.

#1  To this day the US has not released intel with regard to the Turkish Consulate, and its Consul, and its activity prior, during, and after the attack on the US mission in Benghazi. It has not released intel on Petraeus secret flights to Turkey. Nor is there sufficient data on the US program to purchase weapons in Libya that dates from the demise of Qadafi.
Ironically, Turkey would have to close its Consulate in Benghazi when internecine rebel fighting occurred. However, during the entire fiasco Ankara maintained an intel advantage given its close relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood. That advantage exists to this day given fraternal relations between Islamists.

Turkish journalist on Erdogan's wishlist worries about future in Sweden
[Rudaw] A Turkish journalist exiled in Stockholm is increasingly worried he will be used as a bartering chip after Turkey's president singled out his extradition as key to approving Sweden's NATO bid.

Bulent Kenes, the former editor-in-chief of the Zaman daily, is the only person President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has identified by name among the dozens Ankara wants extradited in exchange for approving Sweden's membership bid.

Kenes told AFP he was having dinner on Tuesday with his wife and son, watching an Erdogan press conference on his mobile phone, when he heard the Turkish leader speak his name.

For first time Muslim women in Kerala burn hijab in solidarity with Iranian protesters
[OneIndia] Amidst all the hijab protests staged by many across the country, news has now come in where a group of Moslem girls burnt the head scarf in solidarity with the protests that are going on in Iran.

A group of 50 women burn hijabs in front of the Kozhikode Town Hall. Following a free thinking session held by the Islamic Free Thinkers Association.

Masha Amini, 22 died while being imprisoned in Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
by the morality police after she was detained for wearing her hijab inappropriately. Protests have erupted since then and security forces have killed hundreds of people in order to suppress the protests.

Amini had not adequately covered her hair with the hijab while she was in Tehran. She was assaulted in a police car while she was being taken to prison for a re-education programme. Following Amino's death, Iran has see wide-spread protests with many women taking to the streets to express their outrage. In Iran women burnt hijabs, cut their hair while protesting in large numbers.

This is however for the first time that women in India and a group in Kerala are staging such a protest out in the open in solidarity with the women in Iran.

Following the ban on hijab in educational institutions in Karnataka, there were widespread protests in different parts of the country against the ban. The matter had gone up before the Karnataka High Court which had upheld the ban while observing that hijab is not essential practice in Islam. The same was challenged in the Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
after the judges delivered a split verdict, the matter was referred to a large Bench. The issue is currently pending in the Supreme Court.

Ex-PM Khan Party Resumes Long March to Capital Islamabad
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] After a weeklong pause due to an attempted liquidation on former Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
, thousands of supporters resumed the "long march" to the Pakistain capital Islamabad on Thursday.

Last week, Khan said he would resume the protest to demand the removal of the government and immediate elections, after recovering from an liquidation attempt that left him maimed in Lahore hospital.
______________
Khan, 70, sustained bullet wounds in his leg during a rally in Wazirabad on November 3. He will be addressing the march later on Thursday via a video link from his residence in Lahore where he is recuperating, as Aljazeera wrote.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the ousted PM said he discovered an alleged plot to assassinate him two months ago, adding he will disclose the name of a second military official allegedly involved in the plot during his address to supporters participating in the "long march".

"I had discovered the liquidation plot hatched against me almost two months ago & exposed it in RYK 24th Sept & Mianwali 7th Oct public rallies," he wrote. "Wazirabad liquidation attempt followed the script."

Khan believed the current politicians — including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the interior minister and a military general — were behind the attack.

But in a presser on Friday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah rejected the allegations, saying that the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government was to blame for any security lapses in the state. "We see Imran Khan as a political opponent, not an enemy," he added.

The military’s office and Sharif condemned the shooting and ordered an investigation.

Earlier this week, Pakistain police filed a report into attempted liquidation of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, according to sources, who bore injury from multiple gun shots on his leg during the long march last week.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the Coimbatore blast case, has confirmed that it was a suicide kaboom. In a statement, the NIA said that Jameesha Mubin had planned suicide attacks to cause extensive damage to symbols and monuments of a particular religious faith.

UN watchdog: Iran’s hypersonic missile claim raises concerns about nuclear program
[IsraelTimes] IAEA chief Rafael Grossi says announcement draws further attention to Tehran’s atomic ambitions, but says nuclear talks likely won’t be impacted by matter.

An Iranian general claimed Thursday that the Islamic Theocratic Republic had developed a hypersonic missile capable of penetrating all defense systems, raising concerns from the UN nuclear watchdog.

Hypersonic missiles, which like traditional ballistic missiles can deliver nuclear weapons, can fly at more than five times the speed of sound.

"This hypersonic ballistic missile was developed to counter air defense shields," General Amirali Hajizadeh, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps aerospace unit, was quoted as saying by Fars news agency.

"It will be able to breach all the systems of anti-missile defense," he said, adding that he believed it would take decades before a system capable of intercepting it is developed.

The head of the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, speaking at a UN climate summit in Egypt, expressed concerns about the announcement.

Unlike ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles fly on a trajectory low in the atmosphere, able to reach targets more quickly.

North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
’s test of a hypersonic missile last year sparked concerns about the race to acquire the technology, which is currently led by Russia, followed by China and the United States.

Both Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
and Russia are targeted by stringent sanctions — Iran after the US unilaterally pulled out of the 2015 nuclear deal, and Russia since it invaded Ukraine in February. The two countries have responded to the sanctions by boosting cooperation in key areas to help prop up their economies. Iran on Wednesday hosted Russia’s security chief Nikolai Patrushev for talks on subjects that the Russian side said included "the fight against terrorism and extremism" as well as measures to counter Western interference.

A hypersonic missile is maneuverable, making it harder to track and defend against. While countries including the United States have developed systems designed to defend against cruise and ballistic missiles, the ability to track and take down a hypersonic missile remains a question.

Thursday’s announcement comes against a backdrop of stalled talks on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal. The deal Iran reached with Britannia, China, La Belle France, Germany, Russia, and the US gave it relief from sanctions in return for guarantees it could not develop an atomic weapon. Iran has always denied wanting a nuclear arsenal. The deal collapsed after the US’s unilateral withdrawal in 2018 under then-president Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
The IAEA said Thursday it had seen "no progress" in discussions with Iran over undeclared nuclear material at three sites, a sticking point in the talks aimed at reviving the accord.

Iran has been enriching uranium well over the limits laid down in the 2015 deal with world powers, which started to unravel when the United States withdrew from it in 2018.

Iran’s claim to have developed a hypersonic missile follows its announcement on November 5 of the successful test flight of a rocket capable of propelling satellites into space. The US has repeatedly voiced concern that such launches could boost Iran’s ballistic missile technology, extending to the potential delivery of nuclear warheads. In March, the US government imposed sanctions on Iran’s missile-related activities.

Decade-old testimony from PA probe into Arafat’s death leaked to Palestinian press
[IsraelTimes] Outlets unveil accounts from top PA convinced of unproven claim that their ex-leader was poisoned; source says leak aimed at settling scores amid Ramallah succession fight

Documents from the Paleostinian Authority’s internal investigation into the death of former leader Yasser Arafat were leaked to Paleostinian media this week, underscoring the extent to which bigwigs in Ramallah are convinced he did not die of natural causes.
AIDS isn't a natural cause
The leak came days before the Friday anniversary of Arafat’s 2004 death, though a source told the al-Araby al-Jadeed newspaper that the timing had more to do with the intensifying battle within the PA to succeed aging President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
The leaked documents revealed the chilly ties between Abbas and Arafat before the latter’s death.

PA security forces have launched an investigation into the identity of the leaker, Paleostinian media reported.

The internal probe into Arafat’s death was launched in 2010 and led by Tawfik Tirawi, a bigwig in Abbas and Arafat’s Fatah party.

The findings of the probe have never been published, however, with Tirawi saying that the testimony was kept classified to maintain the integrity of the investigation until the full truth was uncovered.

Many Paleostinians accuse Israel of poisoning Arafat, a charge flatly denied by the Jewish state. Arafat’s family have brought their case before French courts and the European Court of Human Rights but it was dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Among the 302 people summoned to testify in Tirwawi’s probe was now-PA Prime Minister Mahammad Shtayyeh, who told Sherlocks that "anyone who serves Israel has an interest in killing Arafat and such people exist in the Paleostinian arena," according to the leaked documents.

Abbas’s now-spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeinah told Tirawi’s committee that "Arafat was poisoned by a person who served him coffee or tea.

"He did not protect himself from others and was used to trusting people. There were hundreds and maybe thousands who gave Arafat gifts and food," he was quoted as having testified.

The head of Arafat’s security detail also testified that he believed Arafat was poisoned, recalling the latter’s meeting with a delegation of some 300 residents from the northern West Bank village of Salfit, after which he fell terminally ill.

The former speaker of the Paleostinian Legislative Council, Rawhi Fattuh, testified that after Arafat was transferred to La Belle France for emergency treatment in 2004, local doctors performed a test to determine if he was poisoned but were not able to identify anything in particular.

A Paleostinian delegation that flew to La Belle France to visit Arafat requested to see the results of the test but never received them, fueling speculation that the PA leader was poisoned, Fattuh testified.

The documents also revealed testimony from an unnamed source who said that Arafat had reached out to Abbas in 2004 for assistance in lifting the IDF siege around his compound in Ramallah. Israel had accused Arafat of orchestrating the Second Intifada and only allowed him to leave the West Bank after his health deteriorated significantly.

Responding to Arafat’s request at the time, Abbas was quoted as having told him, "he who gets himself into problems will know how to get out of them." The remark was interpreted as an expression of disapproval by Abbas of Arafat’s support for the Second Intifada.

Controversial ‘Shoah, Nakba’ event at German institute in Tel Aviv cancelled
Old fashioned Jew-hate wrapped in a fig leaf of intellectual pretensions, with the extra planned insult of forcing the Jews to listen in their own home.
[IsraelTimes] Goethe-Institut’s panel had earlier been postponed after an outcry that event was being held on anniversary of Kristallnacht

The Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial said Friday that after talks were held with the Goethe Institut, the German cultural institute had decided to altogether cancel a controversial planned event that was accused of drawing an equivalence between the Holocaust to the Paleostinian Naqba.

Earlier in the week, the Goethe-Institut Israel postponed an event, "Grasping the Pain of the Others — Panel Discussion on the Holocaust, Nakba and German Remembrance Culture," which had been set to take place in Tel Aviv on Wednesday evening — the 84th anniversary of Kristallnacht.

The institute apologized only for the timing of the event and postponed it until Sunday. However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
it now appears to be off completely.

"Earlier today, Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan spoke at length with the Secretary-General of the Worldwide Goethe Institute Mr. Johannes Ebert. At the end of their in-depth conversation, Ebert assured Dayan that the event planned for this coming Sunday will not take place," Yad Vashem said Friday.

On Tuesday, the institute defended the event amid anger in Israel and Germany.

"The remembrance of the Shoah and the commemoration of the victims is a major concern of the Goethe-Institut, to which we devote ourselves in numerous projects," the institute said in a German-language statement. "We regret that the choice of date for a panel discussion has currently caused irritation."

"The Goethe-Institut stands for understanding and dialogue," the statement continued, "That is what the planned discussion is about."

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural arm of Germany and is intended to facilitate cultural exchanges around the globe.

The institute did not address criticism of the equivalency drawn between the Holocaust and the Nakba, or "catastrophe," the name Paleostinians and many Israeli Arabs use for the Arab defeat in the 1948 Israeli Independence War, which led to the establishment of the Jewish state.

The Foreign Ministry had earlier in the day blasted "the blatant cheapening of Holocaust and the cynical and manipulative attempt to create a linkage whose entire purpose is to defame Israel," by discussing the Shoah and the Nakba in the same breath.

Yad Vashem’s Dayan called the event itself an "intolerable distortion of the Holocaust."

After the postponement, Foreign Ministry front man Emmanuel Nachshon was no less harsh in his reaction: "Our position is that the event is an utter disgrace, and it is not appropriate to hold it on any day of the year, not just the anniversary of Kristallnacht."

In an interview with 103FM Radio, Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor called the postponed event "an attempt to make an inappropriate comparison at the expense of Holocaust survivors."

"If it wasn’t ironic it would be tragic," he said. "This must not become an accepted discourse under the pretense of ’holding a civilized discussion.’ It’s not."

Prosor also slammed the Goethe-Institut for postponing the event rather than canceling it. "They don’t seem to understand the issue. There isn’t a date on the calendar suitable for such a spectacle of insensitivity and hypocrisy by the institute," he said.

Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, took place on November 9, 1938, when Nazi forces and German civilians attacked synagogues and Jewish businesses, likely killing hundreds.

"We must not allow foreign cultural and educational policies to support attempts to link commemoration of the Holocaust and the Nakba," tweeted German politician Frank Muller-Rosentritt. "That this is planned by @goetheinstitut in Israel on November 9 of all days is a scandal."

The panel, organized in conjunction with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation’s Israel office, features two Israeli academics and German journalist Charlotte Wiedemann.

Wiedemann has advocated that Germans "understand the Nakba in a broader sense as part of German history and give their story space in the culture of remembrance. There is no need to agree on the extent to which the founding of the state of Israel was also an act of settler colonialism."
