America's fentanyl scourge UNCOVERED: Mailed from China, mixed in Mexico, the strongest opioid yet exploded in the pandemic and now kills a person every seven minutes ‐ but officials are powerless to stop it
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Drug overdoses now kill more Americans than guns and cars combined

  • Such deaths reached 107,000 in the year to January, 2⁄3 of them due to fentanyl

  • Fentanyl packs down small and is easy to mail or smuggle across borders

  • Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel and Jalisco Cartel bring it into the US

  • Many users have no clue they're taking fentanyl, which is often mixed

  • A fentanyl vaccine offers hope and could save thousands of lives each year

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Military device with biometric database of 2K people sold on eBay for $68
[ArsTechnica] Researchers say DOD ignored attempts to flag the leak impacting 2,632 people.

When a German security researcher, Matthias Marx, found a United States military device for sale on eBay—an instrument previously used to identify wanted individuals and known gunnies during the War in Afghanistan—Marx gambled a little and placed a low bid of $68.

He probably didn’t expect to win, since he offered less than half the seller’s asking price, $149.95. But win he did, and after that, he had an even bigger surprise coming, The New York Times

... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported. When the device arrived with a memory card still inside, Marx was shocked to realize he had unwittingly purchased the names, nationalities, photographs, fingerprints, and iris scans of 2,632 people whose biometric data had allegedly been scanned by US military.

The device allegedly stored not just personal identifiable information (PII) of seemingly suspicious persons, but also of US military members, people in Afghanistan who worked with the government, and ordinary people temporarily detained at military checkpoints. Most of the data came from residents of Afghanistan and Iraq.

All of this data was supposed to be destroyed onsite, but that seemingly never happened. The failure to wipe device is consistent with the US military's occasional failures over the past decade, which have put people who helped the US military and US military members at risk of being identified and targeted by the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
, The Times reported.

Currently, no one’s sure how many times the device has traded hands since it was last used in 2012 near Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Marx has shown abundant caution with the data, declining to share the database electronically with The Times. Instead, The Times sent a news hound in Germany to Marx’s location to see the data, then got in touch with at least one American who confirmed the data was likely his.

The Department of Defense (DOD) press secretary, Brigadier General Patrick S. Ryder, told The Times that they would need to review the data before confirming its authenticity.

"Because we have not reviewed the information contained on the devices, the department is not able to confirm the authenticity of the alleged data or otherwise comment on it," Ryder told The Times. "The department requests that any devices thought to contain personally identifiable information be returned for further analysis."

Experts told The Times that if the data is authentic, this particular breach could have fatal consequences. They recommend that the US government review the data, inform everyone impacted by the breach, and then provide asylum for anyone still based in Afghanistan.

When Marx discovered the data, he said that he contacted the DOD, but Marx told Ars that he was "alarmed" when the DOD allegedly failed to investigate or take action to protect those affected by the leak.

"We also imagined the data would be useful to investigate how the devices ended up online and to derive who else is potentially endangered," Marx told Ars.

Marx told The Times that he found the military’s failure to delete this highly sensitive data "disturbing," alleging that "they didn’t even try to protect the data," and suggesting this was because "they didn’t care about the risk, or they ignored the risk."

Afghanistan
Flight of US dollars from Pakistan to Afghanistan continues unabated
Unexpected consequences.
[ANInews] The flight of US dollars from Pakistain to Afghanistan continues unabated resulting in the erosion of Islamabad's foreign exchange reserves, reported Dawn.

On Monday, the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistain (ECAP) said that Pakistain has been facing a large-scale outflow of US dollars to Afghanistan since the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
's takeover of Kabul last year.

Addressing a presser, ECAP Chairman Malik Bostan said the USD flight to Kabul has eroded Pakistain's foreign exchange reserves.

The exchange rate has been destroyed by smuggling and fake imports of dollars as well as Islamabad's negligence towards the issue, he alleged, reported Dawn.

Bostan pointed out that when the Taliban took over Kabul, one greenback was available for Rs 155 and Pakistain's reserves stood at USD 22 billion. Now the reserves have sunk to their lowest level in about eight years with a dollar selling for Rs 225 in the inter-bank market.

This unhindered flow of the American currency towards Afghanistan has created a crisis for Pakistain, reported Dawn.

Bostan said legally, 15 million dollars are used to cross each day from Pakistain to Afghanistan since Islamabad has permitted each person to take USD 1,000 per day while 15,000 people regularly travel to the neighbouring country each day.

He said that two months ago, the Kabul regime stated that all Pak currency should be converted into dollars or other foreign currencies.

Keeping more than 0.5 million Pak rupees is prohibited in Kabul and any person found with such an amount of PKR would be tried under the anti-money laundering laws.

"For 42 years Afghans have been trading in PKR. They have hundreds of billions of PKR. But now they are buying dollars from Pakistain at any cost. They will siphon off the entire dollars from Pak markets," Bostan warned, adding that Pakistain must take up the matter with the Kabul government, reported Dawn.

He said commercial banks are buying USD 120 million-USD 130 million per month from exchange companies for credit cards. These cards are legally transferring dollars from the country.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
the government slashed the annual per card spending limit to USD 30,000. Earlier, there was no limit on such transactions, reported Dawn.

"Kabul government has successfully maintained the dollar rate at 88 Afghani and this was due to their policies as they don't print notes unless and until they get dollars," he said.

Taliban (IEA) Bans Two Female Training Centers in Kabul and Hera
[KhaamaPress] Authorities of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan closed two educational centers in Kabul and Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
accommodating more than 1200 female students.

Roya Mahboob, the Founder of the Afghan Girls Robotic Team tweeted on Monday that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
authorities forcibly shut the education centers in Herat and Kabul. More than a thousand female students were taking pieces training in business, Robotics, coding, and Information Communications Technology.

Following the latest decree by the Ministry of Higher Education of the interim regime banning women’s university education, the dreams of thousands of school and university girls were buried.

Afghanistan’s Taliban regime gradually started implementing extremely strict practices with regard to women’s education and employment, prompting worldwide criticisms. According to the ruling regime’s interpretations of Islamic Sharia, girls and women in Afghanistan were not fully complying with the established rules and regulations in universities and work environments. As a consequence of which, women have been barred from attending universities, and training centers as well as working with private or foreign non-governmental organizations until further notice.

Taliban (IEA) Lashes Ten Afghan Men in Herat
[KhaamaPress] Official sources in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province confirmed that ten people were lashed in public in ’Ingil District", convicted for different crimes.

According to the authorities of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan, ten men convicted for "alcohol-drinking, selling and buying drugs, and mistreating women" were flogged in public in the Ingil district of Western Herat province on Monday.

The high court of Afghanistan’s de facto regime had approved the crimes of the convicts and ordered public punishment accordingly.

Over the past month, more than 50 Afghan men and women in different provinces including Pashtun-infested Logar, Parwan, Farah, Ghor, Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
, and Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
provinces have been publicly lashed for committing crimes such as "alcohol drinking, adultery, drug dealing, theft, and human trafficking".

Based on their Lord High Potentate and Supreme Leader of All He Surveys Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada’s command, the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
have continued exercising extremely harsh punishment of the convicts over the past couple of weeks in different parts of the country, prompting condemnations from foreign governments and international organizations.

The public punishment exercised by the Taliban administration in Afghanistan includes public execution, flogging, and stoning. Following these practices, and the gender-based restrictions imposed on girls’ education and women’s employment at private and public organizations, the ruling regime has come under massive criticism on national and international levels.

Somalia: Turkish drones not being used in war against Al-Shabaab - minister
A partial answer to the question about Turkey’s activities in Somalia, continuing a several-century tradition of the Ottoman empire arming and training the Muslim rulers there.
[Garowe] A top official from the government of Somalia says the Ottoman Turkish drones are not being used for special operations in the fight against al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all of which have enough problems without them...
murderous Moslems, noting that such information is misleading to members of the public.

Abdulkadir Mohammed Nur, the minister of Somalia said the Bayraktar TB drones have never been used for operations. A few weeks ago, the drones were sighted in the country's airspace and interior minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi confirmed the claims.

"So far, the US Africa Command has been providing air support to SNA, including dronezaps and aerial surveillance for years now," said Nur during an interview with a local TV.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
is one of its closest partners in Somalia in terms of security and has been training units of the military and police at Camp TURKSOM in southern Mogadishu, which was opened in 2017.

The president's security advisor Hussein Moalim said Saturday that the Ottoman Turkish air force is taking part in the military operations against al-Shabaab.

Turkey has been helping Somalia to stabilize for over a decade and many construction companies have lately been moving to Mogadishu. In retaliation, al-Shabaab often targets Ottoman Turkish workers in the country to protest the close partnership between the two governments.

Cairo court places former supply minister Bassem Ouda, four other MB members on terrorism list
[AlAhram] A Cairo criminal court put on Tuesday former Minister of supply Bassem Ouda and four other Moslem Brüderbund (MB) members on the state’s terror list for a five-year period.

Ouda served as the Minister of supply in former Prime Minister Hisham Qandil’s cabinet in January 2013. He resigned from his position on 4 July 2013 following the ouster of late President Mohammed Morsi.

He was arrested in November 2013 on charges of inciting violence. He is currently serving several sentences including two life sentences in two different cases. Several charges have been brought against him including joining an illegal group and inciting violence.

The four other MB members who have been put on the list are Amr Mohammed Zaki, Mohammed El-Sayed Abu Zeid, Anwar Sobhy Darkish and Magdi Abdel-Halim Kharoub.

Under the anti-terrorism law, which has been in effect since 2015, a person on the terror list is banned from travel and is liable to have their assets frozen.

The Moslem Brüderbund group has been designated as a terrorist organization in Egypt by the government in December 2013.

Fifth Column
Eaton man found guilty of felony menacing for driving vehicle through a crowd in 2020
Follow up to this story from July 2020. It only took two years for the activist to get some sort of consequences.
[CompleteColorado] The 23-year-old Eaton man who was accused of intentionally attempting to run over more than half-dozen people with his vehicle in July of 2020 was found guilty on Friday of lesser charges, but still faces possible prison time.

The verdict against Isaiah Cordova was delayed a week after Cordova passed out during closing arguments in his trial. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Weld District Court Chief Justice Julie Hoskins found Cordova guilty on five counts of felony menacing. Cordova was found not guilty of the one remaining felony menacing, as well as six counts of attempted first-degree murder. Hoskins said the prosecution failed to meet the obligation of beyond a reasonable doubt on those charges.

Each charge carries a possible sentence of 1-3 years of either probation, community corrections or prison. The judge could order the sentences to be carried out concurrently or consecutively.

The wide sentencing variations mean Cordova faces at minimum one year of probation to 15 years in the Department of Corrections, a realization that left most of the victims visibly frustrated after the hearing.

One of his victims, Micki Holladay was unsure of how she felt after the ruling.

"I’m glad that some of the charges were found guilty," Holladay told Complete Colorado. "I’m skeptical, I guess, about the system, though. He’s young, I know. Did he mean to do it? Would he have actually killed somebody? Standing there watching him (come toward) me, I was for sure that if I didn’t move he wasn’t going to stop."

The crimes took place at a "Back the Blue" rally along Collins St. just west of U.S. 85 in the northern Weld County community of Eaton. About 30 minutes in, Cordova was seen in a red SUV taunting the crowd while driving east along Collins, yelling and flipping off supporters before jumping the curb and driving through the crowd.

Cordova, who has a history of contempt for law enforcement, testified he was a Black Lives Matter supporter and for that reason could not support a rally for law enforcement.

Witnesses during his three-day trial, which was heard by a judge rather than a jury, testified that they believed he was intentionally trying to hit them as they supported law enforcement during a rally.

Cordova also admitted to taunting the crowd by driving by and yelling at them, "flipping them off," and playing loud music aimed at vilifying the police.

His attorney Robert Ray argued that Cordova lost control of his vehicle when a rally attendee threw a bottle at his vehicle. Cordova then said he took his foot off the gas; however, Fitzgerald brought forward several witnesses that said they believed it was an act of retaliation and that Cordova not only accelerated once into the crowd but turned into the crowd and accelerated again.

Cordova will be sentenced at 9 a.m. on March 30. He remains free on a $5,000 bond in the meantime.

"People are getting slaps on the hand all the time now," Holladay said. "Actions need to have consequences."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Top Abbas adviser al-Sheikh recorded cursing PA leader over succession woes
[IsraelTimes] Senior Paleostinian Authority official Hussein al-Sheikh is reportedly recorded cursing PA leader the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
as "the son of 66 whores" over frustration about who will succeed him.

A longtime member of the ruling Fatah party and a top adviser to Abbas, al-Sheikh is viewed as one of several contenders to succeed the 86-year-old leader.

In recordings released by a Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,-affiliated site in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, al-Sheikh is purportedly heard saying that "the succession is at the heart of everything" and that Abbas "is complicit in the anarchy and has an interest in maintaining it."

"It pains me to say these things, but this process is completely different from after the death of Yasser Arafat," he says expressing his frustration that Abbas does not consult other leaders on the process.

Abbas is the "son of 66 whores, he comes and gives his decisions without explanations. He is not right in the head if he thinks we can do the right thing without explaining his intentions," he says.

Al-Sheikh was recently appointed secretary-general of the Executive Committee of the Paleostine Liberation Organization, boosting his chances to eventually succeed Abbas as head of the Fatah party.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
Sheikh also has little public legitimacy, having never been democratically elected to a senior position. He is also disliked by many for his close ties to Israeli officials and to the unpopular Abbas.
Additional and more explicit cursing not suitable for a family site here.

Elon Musk says nearly 100 Starlink internet terminals ‘active’ in Iran
[IsraelTimes] Twitter billionaire promised to bring satellite internet network to country this fall as authorities imposed severe access restrictions amid nationwide protests.

Starlink has more than 2,000 tiny satellites orbiting just a few hundred kilometers above Earth, providing internet access to users below.

The land-based terminals are then wired up to basic routers that create small wifi spots.

Earlier this year, controversial billionaire Musk gained hero status in Ukraine after sending thousands of Starlink terminals to the country in the days after Russia’s invasion.

Ukraine now has 20,000 of the small white receivers throughout the country.

Twitter head Musk’s Monday message was posted in response to a user whose video they said was taken in the "streets of Iran," where there is now "more freedom for the women to choose whether they cover their hair or not."

The post appeared to reference protests that swept Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and the world after the September death of 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini following her arrest in Tehran for an alleged breach of the country’s strict dress code for women.

Iran has unleashed a crackdown arresting around 14,000 people, according to the UN, and killing 469 protesters according to Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR).

The country’s top security body in early December gave a toll of more than 200 people killed, including security officers.

The authorities had already restricted access to Instagram and WhatsApp — until this autumn the last remaining unfiltered social media services — and then clamped down on apps like the Google Play Store as well as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) that seek to circumvent local access restrictions.

Iranians have long used VPNs to access sites blocked in Iran — even government officials including the foreign minister have Twitter accounts despite the network being blocked in the country.
