UNICEF, Afghan Female Staff Delivering Aid Despite Taliban Edicts
[VOAnews] The U.N. children’s agency representative in Afghanistan says his agency, including its female Afghan staff, continue to work in the country despite a Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
decree banning local women from working for the organization.

"I would say that all women of the U.N. in Afghanistan are working," UNICEF’s Fran Equiza told news hounds during a news conference at U.N. headquarters in New York. "They are working some from home, some of them from offices, some of them from the field."

Blacklisted by UN and accused of organising 2007 atrocity: Meet Afghanistan’s new prime minister
[TheIndependent] Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
leader has been accused of collecting money from narcos.

The Taliban has appointed an interim prime minister blacklisted by the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
and known to have been an active member of terrorist operations in eastern Afghanistan.

The appointment, conducted in a late night power shift in Kabul on Tuesday, followed the illness of current leader Mahammad Hassan Akhund who reportedly needed time to recover.

The new interim prime minister Mohammad Abdul Kabir is now the acting head of the hardline Islamist regime in Afghanistan, marking a comeback in the top role, Taliban sources told TOLO news.

Blacklisted by the United Nations in the early 2000s, the newly appointed prime minister is known to have been an active member of terrorist operations in eastern Afghanistan, according to the UN’s consolidated list of sanctioned terrorism-related individuals.

The Taliban leader has been accused of collecting money from narcos and served as a member of the group’s high leadership council.

Mohammad Kabir was also held responsible for a deadly attack on Afghan parliamentarians in northern Afghanistan’s Baghlan district in 2007.

It was recorded as Afghanistan’s biggest suicide kaboom in which 72 people were killed, including 59 schoolboys. The US and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
led administration had to announce a nationwide ban on students greeting politicians or dignitaries.

The jacket wallah triggered the blast up as schoolboys lined up to greet a visiting delegation of opposition parliamentary deputies in the town of Baghlan.

Nearly 100 were maimed in the attack. While the Taliban refused responsibility for the attack, Mohammad Kabir was widely known to have been responsible for the strike. In 2007, Taliban gunnies carried out more than 130 suicide kabooms in Afghanistan. He was appointed as the military commander of the eastern Afghanistan zone by the Taliban in 2007, the UN list showed.

He was sanctioned by the UN in January 2001.

The leader has previously served as the acting prime minister in Taliban’s earlier regime in 2001 shortly before the group’s reign collapsed.

He was promoted from serving as the deputy prime minister to the top role in the existing regime by the Islamic Emirate regime’s chief Mohammed Hibatullah Akhundzada.

The Taliban’s supreme leader Akhundzada, who was himself one of the most wanted turbans by the FBI, has ordered Kabir to control the affairs till Hassan Akhund gets better.

The all-male interim Afghan government named by the Taliban in August 2021 after the fall of Kabul includes several individuals targeted by UN sanctions.

Taliban’s acting minister of interior affairs Serajuddin Haqqani is on the FBI wanted list with a bounty of $10m (£8m) on his head.

He is head of the Haqqani Network Death Eater group, which is affiliated with the Taliban and named in some of the deadliest attacks in the country during the war with US-led international forces. He reportedly oversaw a suicide kaboom using an explosive-filled ambulance in Kabul in 2017 that killed 103 people.

Afghan families traverse most of Latin America to seek asylum at the US border
Just the highlights of a longer article.
[TheWorld] The US government changed the rules governing how people can seek asylum at the US-Mexico border last week, as a pandemic-era policy called Title 42 expired. Although it may become more difficult, thousands of people are still making their way from South America to the US border, including migrants colonists from all over the world. Some are making their way through the Darien Gap, a dangerous jungle that separates Colombia and Panama.

Many of them saved up thousands of dollars to make the trip — having been doctors, NGO workers, politicians or media workers back home.
Abdul Bais hung a leather briefcase over his shoulder, as he got ready to board a speedboat in Necocli, a town near Colombia’s border with Panama. It stood out among the other migrants colonists around him, who mostly carried worn-out backpacks.

Inside the neatly arranged briefcase, he kept diplomatic passports and letters that showed he came from Afghanistan, and had worked as a diplomat for the government that was removed by the Taliban

Turkey not cooperating under migrant deal: Greek asylum official
[Rudaw] The head of Greece’s refugee service said that for three years, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
has not fully abided by the terms of its 2016 migrant deal with the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
"Since [March 2020], Ottoman Turkish authorities are not cooperating and they are not accepting people back to their territory," Marios Kaleas, Greece’s director of asylum services, told Rudaw’s Nma Nabaz on Friday.

In 2016, Turkey and the EU signed a multi-billion euro deal aimed at containing a wave of migration into Europe. Under the deal, Ankara agreed to stop people from traveling irregularly to Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and to accept failed asylum seekers from Europe. In exchange, Turkey received funds and Ottoman Turkish citizens could travel to Europe visa-free.

Kaleas said the deal has achieved its main goal since it reduced the migrant flow, but some parts require better implementation.

"There are specific parts of the agreement that seem like it is not working. We have to rethink how we implement it," he said.

Kaleas led a Greek delegation visiting the Kurdistan Region this week.

Athens has been accused by human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
organizations of assaulting migrants colonists and pushing them back across the border into Turkey. In 2022, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Greece had violated the EU’s human rights convention in its practice of forcing boats of asylum seekers back to Turkey.

Greece is considered a gateway to western Europe for migrants colonists passing through Turkey, including many Kurds taking dangerous land or sea journeys with the hopes of making better lives for themselves and their families.

Turkey is home to over 3.6 million registered Syrian refugees as well as other nationalities, according to the United Nations

refugee agency, UNHCR. There is growing anti-refugee sentiment in the country amidst rising inflation and cost of living and it is an election issue ahead of a run-off between President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
and his challenger Kamal Kilicdaroglu on May 28. Neither achieved the needed majority in the first round of voting on May 14.

For Indians Who Joined Islamic State, It Is Pure Dejection Out There
[OneIndia] The Kerala Story is creating quite the storm at the box office. It is on its way to mint at least Rs 200 crore soon.

While there are questions being asked on the exact number of persons from India who have joined the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
either in Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan, an Intelligence Bureau dossier says that the number of those who joined or tried to join is 133.

An Intelligence Bureau official explains to OneIndia that while many had got carried away and left their land to be part of the Islamic State, there is one common tale and that is each one of them has regretted their decision. Take the case of Ayesha alias Sonia Sebastin who was converted and then sent off to Afghanistan. She said in a video that she and her husband Abdullah Rashi were disappointed after reaching the country. She says that she had moved thinking that she would lead an Islamic life under the Caliphate. However we found that none were even visiting the Mosques here.

She also said that at first her husband would prepare audio and video clips to Kerala so that more people would be inspired to join. However he got fed up and told her that he is done with this world. That was the extent of his disenchantment, she said.

Nimisha alias Fathima said after reaching Afghanistan that this country does not feel like her own. I want to return to India badly she had said in a message. Things have changed, she also added.

The Indians were targeted by the Islamic State not to hold guns on the battlefield and wage a war. They wanted them more for numbers. Many of the recruits who have reached places such as Kabul or djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
realised that they were only being allowed to hold guns and pose so that the recruitment drive back in India continues unabated. Interviews and Intelligence reports reveal that in reality the Indians are made to do menial jobs in these lands.

Take the case of Areeb Majid, the Mumbai youth who managed to return to India back in 2015. He had told the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that he was extremely disenchanted as he was not told to do what he had been promised. While in Mosul, he never fought for the Caliphate. Instead he was asked to do menial jobs.

The women from Kerala are being roped by the Islamic State so that they work as nurses and sex slaves. A 26 Hindu girl from Pathanamthitta district had alleged that she was being forced to join the Islamic State as a nurse. She however managed to escape from the clutches of the outfit.

Nimisha Fathima during her questioning at a Kabul jail said that she felt that she became a victim of a conspiracy. She said that when she was being told to go to Kabul, she was told that she would lead a truly Islamic life. However once in Kabul, the outfit wanted her to train for Jihad and this had come as a shock to her. Sonia who had travelled with her too said that she wants to have nothing to do with the outfit.

The Mideast-based chiefs of the US, UK and French navies transited the Strait of Hormuz on Friday aboard an American warship, a sign of a unified approach to keep the crucial waterway open after Iran seized two oil tankers. (AP Photo/story Jon Gambrell) 19 May 2023 ABOARD THE USS PAUL HAMILTON STRAIT OF HORMUZ — Mideast-based commanders of U.S., British and French navies transited Hormuz on Friday aboard an American warship, a sign of their unified approach... after Iran seized two oil tankers. Tensions in the Persian Gulf have been volatile.... The incredibly rare, joint trip by the three navy chiefs aboard the USS Paul Hamilton, an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, saw three fast boats of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard approach the vessel at one point.
Guardsmen stood by uncovered machine guns on their decks, while sailors aboard the Hamilton similarly stood by loaded machine guns as others shot photos and video... An AP journalist accompanied the allied naval commanders. While the Guard kept its distance... their presence showed just how tense passage for vessels can be in the Strait of Hormuz. .. Iran has seized or attacked 15 ships in the last two years. Eight seizures and seven attacks," Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, who oversees the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet, told AP: "So the shipping industry is mindful of what the security posture looks like... We have the ability to positively impact that influence and that’s what we’re doing,
