Senegal: Tension mounts in Dakar as clashes erupt amid political unrest
[AFRICANEWS] The streets of Dakar, Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
, became a battleground on Friday (Feb. 09) as simmering political tensions boiled over into violent mostly peaceful festivities between opposition activists and law enforcement agencies.

The catalyst for the unrest was a planned demonstration by supporters of opposition presidential candidates. Their aim was to voice opposition against a recent law passed by the National Assembly. This law not only postponed the presidential election until December 15, but also controversially extended President Macky Sall's term of office.

As the demonstrators gathered, police and gendarmes swiftly moved in, using tear gas to disperse the crowds and prevent the rally from taking place. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
their efforts only served to exacerbate the situation, fuelling further anger and frustration among the opposition supporters.

Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, Dakar was gripped by tension and chaos. Smoke filled the air as barricades were set ablaze, casting a pall of uncertainty over the city. Amidst the chaos, journalists found themselves on the front lines, facing hostility from both protesters and security forces.

Several journalists were reportedly charged by law enforcement, while others were briefly detained. Some even sustained injuries in the ensuing melee, highlighting the dangers faced by those reporting on the unfolding events.

Despite the volatile situation, the demonstrations continued late into the evening, with the sound of police sirens echoing through the streets. For the residents of Dakar, Friday was a day marred by violence and uncertainty, as the city grappled with the ramifications of the political turmoil gripping the nation.

Qatar and US working to expel Hamas leaders from Doha, Saudi media outlet reports
“If the Hamas war expands, we assuredly do not want it to expand here.”
[IsraelTimes] The United States and Qatar

The media outlet did not provide further details and the claim has not been corroborated by any other sources.

Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh resides in Qatar, as do senior officials Moussa Abu Marzuk and Khaled Mashal.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Humanitarian aid from Karachay-Cherkessia sent to Palestine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Food, clothing, tents and 30 tons of flour collected in Karachay-Cherkessia were sent to Palestine, representatives of charitable foundations reported.
By Palestine the writer means the Gaza Strip, of course. Palestine does not exist, and at the rate the rulers of the two Palestinian territories are increasingly screwing things up, it probably never will.
As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, by the end of December 2023, national communities from various regions of Russia, including the republics of the North Caucasus, collected more than 20 tons of humanitarian aid for the residents of Palestine.

In November, the head of Karachay-Cherkessia, Rashid Temrezov, announced that collection points for humanitarian aid were opening in the republic for residents of Palestine, and called on local residents to join the collection. The initiative found a response among the residents of the republic. 30 tons of humanitarian aid, purchased with money from residents of Karachay-Cherkessia, are being prepared to be sent to the residents of Palestine, the head of the republic announced on November 20, 2023.

250 tons of humanitarian aid have been sent to the residents of Palestine, including in Karachay-Cherkessia, the Ansary charity foundation reported on February 8 in its Telegram group. “The trucks set off towards Gaza. Let’s hope that this is not the last serious help. Another great example of good hearts uniting in a common cause - let us remind you that 250 tons of cargo were generated by the joint efforts of the Zakya, Territory of Mercy, and Muslims of Mordovia foundations.” with the support of the Muslim Spiritual Directorate of Mordovia, the Muftiate of North Ossetia-Alania and, of course, you, our dear ones,” the publication says.

The formation of the cargo took almost two months, the report notes. The publication is illustrated with a video in which Ramazan Nauruzov, president of the Territory of Mercy Foundation, stands in front of a truck. “Today, February 8, 2024, is the last day of our delegation’s stay in Cairo, Egypt, and today all 13 vehicles from Russia are loaded and are waiting to be sent to the Rafah border checkpoint. Four vehicles from the Karachay-Cherkess Republic have been formed - with food and clothing, tents and 30 tons of flour," he said.

The representative of the Ansary Foundation, Murat Bayramkulov, standing next to Nauruzov, also spoke in the video. “The vehicles have a long journey ahead, first they will arrive at [the border point] Rafah, then they will be reloaded in Palestine, all this will be inspected by the Israeli army, then they will be reloaded into Palestinian trucks,” he said.

Let us recall that on October 19, 2023, the Dagestan Insan Foundation also announced a fundraiser for the Palestinians, and the very next day reported that 20 million rubles had been collected. On November 3, the head of Dagestan announced that more than 90 million rubles had been collected to help the Palestinians; on November 20, the first 30 tons of humanitarian aid were sent from the republic to the Palestinians. On November 11, the Insan Foundation announced  that it was collecting aid  for Palestinians who are in Egypt.
Good job, guys. The more you take care of your brother Moslems, the less they need to rely on an untrustworthy world that is tired of their mooching.

Cyber
Meta reviewing use of word ‘Zionist’ amid Israel-Hamas war
[IsraelTimes] Meta confirms it is assessing when the word "Zionist" should be deemed hate speech as online antisemitism escalates amid the Israel-Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
war.

The tech titan behind Facebook and Instagram confirms a Washington Post report that it is thinking of expanding its hate speech ban to include more uses of the term, particularly when it appears to be an ill-spirited substitute for "Jews" or "Israelis."

"Given the increase in polarized public discourse due to events in the Middle East, we believe it’s important to assess our guidance for reviewing posts that use the term Zionist," a Meta spokesperson says in response to an AFP query.

"While the term Zionist often refers to a person’s ideology, which is not a protected characteristic, it can also be used to refer to Jewish or Israeli people."

Meta policy bans attacks on people based on religion or nationality, meaning the company faces the challenge of distinguishing when "Zionist" refers to ideology or a group of people.

Meta is honing how it applies the hate speech ban to posts with that word, according to the company.

The Silicon Valley-based social media giant must be careful that content policies are not biased against pro-Paleostinian voices speaking out against the war, said Amnesia Amnesty International researcher and advisor Alia Al Ghussain.

A blanket ban on criticism of "Zionism" or "Zionists" on Meta platforms would restrict the free speech of those trying to call attention to "atrocity crimes committed by Israeli forces in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
," Al Ghussain says in a statement.

"This proposed revision is especially disturbing given the current dire situation in the Gaza Strip," Al Ghussain said of Meta’s internal review.

Australian Jews alarmed after list of ‘Zionists’ publicized, fueling harassment
[IsraelTimes] Police investigating threats to members of WhatsApp group whose names were distributed by pro-Paleostinian activists
How does it support Palestinians to reveal the names and addresses of Australian Jews?
Australian police are investigating threats against a five-year-old Jewish child amid an uproar over the publication online of a list of hundreds of Jewish creatives’ personal information by prominent pro-Paleostinian activists. Hundreds of Jewish academics and creatives who joined a private WhatsApp group last year had their personal information shared publicly by the activists this week. At least one family has gone into hiding amid ensuing harassment, Josh Burns, a Jewish Australian politician, said during a radio interview on Friday morning, prompting shock from the interviewer.

"They were completely shattered by this whole experience, where a sort of lynch mob of people were attacking them," Burns said. "We’re not talking about people who are in any way connected to the conflict in the Middle East. We’re talking about ordinary Australian citizens who happen to be Jewish."

Biden sets new conditions for US military aid amid calls to limit support for Israel
[IsraelTimes] Memo requires recipients to give ’credible and reliable written assurances’ they adhere to international law, demands annual reports from State Department, Pentagon on compliance

US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
issued a memorandum on Thursday requiring allies who receive military aid from the US to provide "credible and reliable written assurances" of their adherence to international law including international human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
law.

For the first time, the new policy also requires the State Department and the Department of Defense to issue periodic reports on whether allies are meeting the requirements.

US departments and agencies will "engage with foreign partners to share and learn best practices for reducing the likelihood of and responding to civilian casualties, including through appropriate training and assistance," the memo said.

"In order to effectively implement certain obligations under United States law, the United States must maintain an appropriate understanding of foreign partners’ adherence to international law, including, as applicable, international human rights law and international humanitarian law."

Countries receiving military aid from the US were given 180 days to provide the required assurances, the memo said, but those, like Israel, who were engaged in active conflicts had only 45 days.

The memo did not mention specific countries who would be held up to the new standard, but came amid increasing calls in the US to condition aid to Israel due to concerns over its military operations in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
which were triggered by the October 7 attacks, in which Hamas
...a regional Iranian catspaw,...
forces of Evil murdered some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapped 253.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clarified on Thursday that the memo "emerged in part because of our discussions with members of Congress," all but confirming that the move was a result of pressure from progressive politicians demanding conditions on aid to Israel amid fears that American weapons were being used in the killing of civilians in Gaza.

Asked whether aid to Israel would be cut off immediately if Jerusalem did not provide written assurances within 45 days as the memo dictates, Jean-Pierre responded that Israel was briefed on the new policy and had "reiterated their willingness to provide these types of assurances."

US security aid recipients are already required to ensure that weapons are not used to commit human rights abuses.

The memo was criticized by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee on Friday, which called it "an unnecessary directive that imposes new requirements on Israel and our other most important allies."

"As Israel continues its battle against Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Iranian proxies, our focus should be on support for our ally," AIPAC said.

"Israel is a moral army fighting in an unprecedented, complex urban battlefield in compliance with international law. It is confronting a terror group that deliberately and despicably uses innocent Paleostinians as human shields, hides among and below civilians, and continues to hold 136 hostages, including 8 Americans," the pro-Israel lobby group added.

The White House has not hidden its dissatisfaction with Israel over civilian casualties in Gaza and the humanitarian situation there throughout the war. However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
it has recently adopted a harsher tone, with the memo issued shortly after Biden said during a conference that Israel’s conduct in the Strip has been "over the top." On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken
...71st United States secretary of state and a leading light of the corrupt and inept Biden administration. He previously served as deputy national security advisor from 2013 to 2015 and deputy secretary of state from 2015 to 2017 under the corrupt and inept Obama administration. He advocated for the 2003 invasion of Iraq while serving as the Democratic staff director of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 2002 to 2008. He was a foreign policy advisor for the Biden 2008 presidential campaign. During his tenure in the Obama administration, Blinken helped craft B.O.'s policy on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the nuclear program of Iran. We all saw how well each of those worked. After leaving government service, Blinken moved into the private sector, co-founding WestExec Advisors, a lobbying firm...
said in Tel Aviv that Israel cannot use the October 7 attack as "a license to dehumanize others," in the most stinging rebuke to date from the administration.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza claims that more than 27,200 Paleostinians have been killed by Israel in the war, but the number cannot be independently verified as it is believed to include both Hamas forces of Evil and civilians, some as a consequence of the terror group’s own rocket misfires.

The IDF says it has killed over 10,000 forces of Evil in Gaza, in addition to some 1,000 who were killed inside Israel on and immediately following October 7.

, the Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz's (PML-N) candidate for the premiership, said Friday he seeks to form a united government after his party "emerged victorious" in the February 8 general election.

The party's top leaders, on the contrary, said that their candidates have won a majority of the seats and will form government in the centre.

"Alhamdulillah, the PML-N is the largest single party in the country today after the elections."

The three-time former premier, who ended his self-imposed exile in October last year, urged all the national institutions and politicians to play a positive role in steering the country out of the ongoing crises.

Referring to the country’s fragile economy, Nawaz said: "At least 10 years are needed for bringing stability to the country."

He said that it was the responsibility of the PML-N to steer the country out of the crises.

PTI-backed independents in lead as hours-long delay triggers speculations
[GEO.TV] All eyes are on the outcome of the general elections 2024, with political parties, independent candidates as well as voters glued to their television screens as the much-awaited unofficial and unconfirmed results for the crucial nationwide polls have entered the phase of completion.

On February 8, a large number of people across the country exercised their right to vote to elect their representatives for national and provincial assemblies — on 855 constituencies — despite the suspension of mobile phone and internet services.

The 2024 elections surpassed the previous ones in 2018 in various aspects, including a record budget allocation of Rs48 billion, a substantial increase in the number of voters exceeding 50% of the total population, an unprecedented ratio of independent candidates, a total of nearly 18,000 candidates, and a substantial amount of paper required for printing 260 million ballots.

More than 1.4 million polling staff performed their duties at 90,675 polling stations — of which 16,766 were declared as extremely sensitive. To ensure voter turnout, February 8 was declared as a public holiday.

The polling kick-started at 8am, with delays in some areas and continued till 5pm throughout the country to mark the largest general elections in the history of Pakistain, which is the world's fifth largest democracy.

With cellular service suspended since dawn due to security risks, the country witnessed a largely peaceful polling process, however, a terror attack in Dera Ismail Khan

, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, martyred four coppers.

The election results were expected to be completed a few hours after midnight, but the unofficial results couldn't be released even 24 hours after the end of polling.

As the results trickled in, independent candidates dominated the polls, with Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) and Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) claiming to be in a position to form a majority government in the centre, but an inordinate delay in the complete compilation of the outcomes sparked controversy.

Irish basketball team refuses to shake hands with Israelis, proceeds to lose by 30
[IsraelTimes] Basketball Ireland backed national women’s team forgoing pleasantries after Israeli player called them antisemitic; Israel captain: It was a lot more than a win, it became personal

The Ireland women’s team shunned normal pre-match courtesies when it faced Israel in EuroBasket qualifying on Thursday after it said it was outraged by accusations of antisemitism by an Israeli player.

The accusations, by Israeli player Dor Saar on the Israeli Basketball Association’s official channels, prompted Basketball Ireland to file a report to governing body FIBA Europe.
Whining Losers are proven
Forfeiting the match was rejected because Ireland would have faced sanctions.

Instead, there were no handshakes or other pleasantries before the qualifier in Riga, Latvia, an alternative venue because of the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. Israel won 87-57. The teams are in a group with La Belle France and Latvia. Ireland is scheduled to host Israel on November 10.

"I’ve been in sports for a long time, I’ve never seen something like this my whole life," Israeli coach Sharon Drucker said on the Israeli Basketball Association’s website after the game.

"There was never a game where you don’t give a gift, shake hands, wish well to each other. [The Irish] totally took a side, and they received their punishment today. Sports need to bring people together and bridge gaps. They took a side without even thinking about what they were doing," Drucker said.

"Basketball Ireland informed FIBA Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
yesterday that as a direct result of recent comments made by Israeli players and coaching staff — including inflammatory and wholly inaccurate accusations of antisemitism, published on official Israeli federation channels — that our players will not be partaking in traditional pre-match arrangements with our upcoming opponents," a Basketball Ireland statement read on Thursday.

"This includes exchanging of gifts, formal handshakes before or after the game, while our players will line up for the national anthem by our bench, rather than center court. Basketball Ireland fully supports our players in their decision."

While Ireland defied pressure to boycott the match — the federation said it was not feasible — several players opted not to travel to Riga.

"We have to show that we’re better than them and win. We talk about it among ourselves. We know they don’t love us and we will leave everything on the field always and in this game especially."

#1  The Real History of Ireland Warts and All

...I happened to purchase out of curiosity a copy of Adolf Hitlers Mein Kampf. I was rather astounded to find that the version of German history Hitler preached was uncannily like the version of Irish history I had been taught in school. Both were derived from the racial theories of the early nineteenth century, of the special Geist or genius of each race, and the Darwinian Rassenkampf or wars of the races, resulting in the survival of the fittest or strongest.

Its involvement in the creation of Muslim networks in Ireland is complex and varies from case to case. There might only be historical links to the Muslim Brotherhood in certain Irish Muslim institutions, whereas others have come to share similar ideological orientations over time. There are also Muslim organisations in Ireland that openly involve direct participation of members of the Muslim Brotherhood at varying levels, while others share links that are only circumstantial.

Norway will give $26 million to UNRWA this year, more could come — foreign ministry
Happily funding the war against Israel, without having to get their hands dirty actually killing Jews.
[IsraelTimes] Norway is giving 275 million crowns ($26 million) this year to the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees (UNRWA) and could increase that sum if needed, it says, days after the agency warned it could cease all activity by the end of the month.

Oslo said on Wednesday it was transferring 275 million crowns to UNRWA. Today, the ministry of foreign affairs says that money covered Norway’s regular, annual contribution to UNRWA, but that there could be additional payments.

"Due to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, there may be additional funds from Norway to UNRWA throughout the year," says a foreign ministry spokesperson.

By comparison, Norway gave UNRWA 470.5 million crowns ($44.6 million) last year, she said. "This includes additional funding after the war started in October," she says.

US proposals to fund other agencies instead of UNRWA not viable — senior aid official
Your conditions are acceptable.
[IsraelTimes] A top United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
official argues that replacing the UN’s relief agency for Paleostinian refugees in the middle of the Israel-Hamas
...the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
war would all but end in a humanitarian disaster in an interview with The Times of Israel earlier this week.

Calls to dismantle UNRWA have mounted following the agency’s January announcement that it had fired or suspended 12 employees who allegedly participated in Hamas’s October 7 terror onslaught. The announcement led the US along with over a dozen other countries to suspend their funding, which UNRWA says will force it to stop operating by the end of the month if those decisions remain in place.

The US has said it supports the work UNRWA does in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
to provide aid to the Paleostinians amid the widening humanitarian crisis sparked by the war. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
Congress is advancing legislation that would bar relief funds from going to UNRWA, and the Biden administration says it will abide by the measure if it passes and is looking into sending US funds to other agencies such as the World Food Program or UNICEF — the UN’s relief agency for children.

Andrea De Domenico, who heads the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Paleostinian territories tells The Times of Israel that trying to replace UNRWA with other agencies in the middle of the war would not be "viable." The humanitarian effort "is not something you can unplug and plug back in somewhere else," argues the branch head of OCHA, which coordinates the humanitarian effort with the various aid groups on the ground.

UNRWA is currently the primary organization delivering humanitarian aid in Gaza with some 13,000 local staff members. No other agency comes close to UNRWA’s presence in the enclave.

"All of the logistical operations and the entry of the humanitarian aid [into Gaza] is handled by UNRWA, so the moment you [de]fund UNRWA, that entire operation is blocked," says De Domenico, whose office currently has 11 staff members in Gaza.

With such a large number of local staff in a territory controlled by a terror organization, Hamas’s infiltration into the agency was inevitable, a senior Israeli official told The Times of Israel.

De Domenico notes that the salaries of the local UNRWA staffers are on a far lower pay scale than those received by employees recruited by other agencies, so switching to another agency would cost a lot more money, which donor countries are not likely interested in spending.

The fastest way to switch to a new agency instead of UNRWA would be by using the same local staff, which would likely be a non-starter for supporters of the move, who fear those employees are tainted by Hamas. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
building an agency from scratch while barring involvement from anyone ever involved in UNRWA will take "considerably more time," De Domenico says. "In the short term, it seems like a gigantic effort that is very unlikely to [succeed]."

The senior UN official explains that ending UNRWA’s mandate would make the conflict’s parties liable for distributing aid to Gaza’s two million-plus civilians. This includes Hamas, but De Domenico stresses that the terror group has long lost control of the Strip to Israel.

Israel "doesn’t understand that we are actually trying to help them meet their obligations as a party of the conflict. It’s an obligation of international humanitarian law for the occupying power to take care of the civilians that they occupy," De Domenico charges.

Jerusalem argues that it is facilitating the entry of enough aid into Gaza and that the bottlenecks are due to the UN’s ability to keep up with the pace. Moreover, it claims that Hamas is diverting aid from civilians to its fighters.

"We hear [Israel say] that the aid is diverted to Hamas and that Hamas is in control. No! What we are seeing on the ground is that no one is in control at the moment, and that’s a big problem," De Domenico says.

The senior OCHA official acknowledges that the UN "might be forced" into a new framework for distributing aid in place of UNRWA "because only so much is in our control."

But this will require "a gigantic effort from our side and a serious commitment, particularly from the Israelis, to allow us to scale up operations."

He pointed to repeated Israeli rejections of requests for his office to be allowed to bring armored vehicles, personal protective equipment and radio communications into Gaza in order to ensure the safe and swift distribution of aid.

Israel says it only rejects requests for items on security grounds, particularly supplies that it feels can be stolen and exploited by Hamas.

"Some of their concerns are serious, and I totally understand them... But some of their other concerns seem more fictitious and intended simply to slow down our operation all while they continue to say, ’Keep up the pace.'" he charged. "You break my leg, and then you asked me to run. We’ll try, but it’s not going to be easy."

Also in the interview, the senior UN official said his office has begun the earlier stages of an assessment mission in northern Gaza aimed at determining the conditions necessary to allow Paleostinians to return to those areas.

Moody's lowers Israeli credit rating, downgrades outlook from ‘stable' to ‘negative'
[IsraelTimes] The US ratings agency Moody’s downgraded Israel’s credit rating Friday due to the impact of its ongoing war with Hamas in Gaza, lowering it by one notch from A1 to A2.

In a statement, Moody’s said it had done so after assessing that "the ongoing military conflict with Hamas, its aftermath and wider consequences materially raise political risk for Israel as well as weaken its executive and legislative institutions and its fiscal strength, for the foreseeable future."

The ratings agency also lowered its outlook for Israel’s debt to "negative" due to "the risk of an escalation" with the far more powerful Lebanese terror group Hezbollah that operates along its northern border.

The Hamas-run Government Media Office in Gaza claims that this amount of aid is required because "the famine in northern Gaza is worsening" as a result of American and Israeli actions, the reports state.

IDF preventing aid from entering Gaza via Kerem Shalom Crossing – report

In recent days, a right-wing protest group known as Tzav 9

has been preventing aid from entering the Gaza Strip, but the group was not at Kerem Shalom on Friday, so aid should have been able to enter the Strip without issue.

The report does not say why the decision to stop aid from passing through Kerem Shalom was made and who issued the directive.

COGAT, Israel’s military liaison to the Paleostinians, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Israeli grassroots movement Mothers of IDF Soldiers, together with the IDF Reservists movement, gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem on Wednesday to demand an end to humanitarian aid to Gazoo.

"We support the Israeli government’s decision to wage war and eradicate Hamas and we are grateful and appreciative of the sacrifices our soldiers make on a daily basis to protect the State of Israel," Mirit Hoffman, an English-language spokeswoman for Mothers of IDF Soldiers, told JNS.

"We do not support sending humanitarian aid, otherwise known as Hamas aid, to Gaza," she added. "Since the Biden administration has been putting pressure on the Israeli government to do so, we are going to the source," she added.

Last month, a Paleostinian woman went viral for telling an Al Jazeera news hound that Hamas was diverting humanitarian aid entering Gaza into its tunnel system for distribution to terrorists. U.N. and USAID sacks have been used by Hamas to construct terror tunnels in Gaza, and fuel and humanitarian aid have been stolen from UNRWA compounds by truck drivers believed to be from the Hamas-run Health Ministry.

Nevertheless, the U.N. Security Council on Dec. 22 passed a resolution—the U.S. abstained instead of vetoing the motion—to speed and scale up humanitarian aid to the Strip.

Founded during the 2014 Israel-Hamas war ("Operation Protective Edge"), Mothers of IDF Soldiers consists of 7,000 mothers and other supporters of Israeli troops, who oppose American pressure to prioritize the safety of Paleostinians in Gaza over that of Israeli forces.

The group is currently calling for the continuation of the war until Hamas is defeated and all hostages are freed, and for pressure to be applied on Egypt to permit Paleostinian civilians in Gaza to pass into Sinai.

Earlier this week, Mothers of IDF Soldiers wrote a letter to U.S. President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body....
outlining its positions.

"The aid going into Gaza does the exact opposite of what you want it to do. It enables Hamas to keep fighting by keeping Hamas turbans supplied," said the letter. "The fuel going into Gaza enables Hamas turbans to run their generators that keep air circulating in the underground tunnels, prolonging the war and place our soldiers in unnecessary jeopardy."

Israeli protesters have converged on Israel’s Kerem Shalom border crossing with Gaza every day over the past week with the aim of preventing aid from passing into Gaza.

Addressing reports of a potential agreement with Hamas to free the hostages in exchange for a lengthy ceasefire, an increase in aid and the release of tossed in the slammer

Paleostinian terrorists, Hoffman said such a deal would endanger the country.

"Any deal that involves releasing Hamas murderers and those with blood on their hands puts not only our sons but the entire country at risk, and also shows weakness while giving Hamas a sense of victory," she said.

"We are in favor of a complete victory. We do not want our soldiers to continuously go to war and we’ll oppose any deal that sabotages that," Hoffman added.

Israeli targeting terrorists in Jenin hospital may be war crime, Gaza buffer zone ditto, UN experts say
But given that nobody else was harmed, probably not.
[IsraelTimes] Special rapporteurs say Israel appears to have attacked a defenseless injured person in hospital, while practicing deceit
“How dare you uppity juices defend themselves against vicious attackers! If you want our approval, you will politely bare your necks and sit quietly with folded hands until it’s your turn to be killed, just like Mahatma Gandhi advised back when it was the Nazis’ turn to wipe you out.”
The killing of three Paleostinian men in a hospital in the West Bank last month by Israeli commandos disguised as medical workers and Moslem women may amount to war crimes, a group of UN experts said on Friday. The three wanted bad boyz were potted on January 29 in a joint undercover operation by the army, Shin Bet security service and Border Police in the Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin, one of the most volatile cities in the West Bank, Israel’s military said.

Paleostinian media published extraordinary surveillance camera footage of the operation, showing many undercover forces dressed as doctors, nurses and Paleostinian women, scouring the hospital corridors while carrying guns.

"Under international humanitarian law, killing a defenseless injured patient who is being treated in a hospital amounts to a war crime," the UN experts said in a statement, referring to Basel Ghazawi, a patient being treated for injuries he said were caused by an Israeli air strike.

Israel said Ghazawi was a member of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...

"By disguising themselves as seemingly harmless, protected medical personnel and civilians, the Israeli forces also prima facie committed the war crime of perfidy, which is prohibited in all circumstances," they added, calling for Israel to conduct an investigation.

issue.

Israel’s military was not immediately available for comment.
"I can say no more!"
on their statement.

CCTV footage from the hospital showed a group of about 10 people, dressed variously in civilian clothes and medical garb, including three in headscarves and women’s clothing, pacing through a corridor, armed with assault rifles.

Israel’s military has said that one of the men killed in the hospital, 27-year-old Muhammad Jalamneh, was a terrorist from Hamas, which governs Gaza, and the others were brothers, Muhammad and Basel Ghazawi, who worked for Jenin Brigade and the armed wing of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad.

Many wanted Paleostinians have long been staying in the hospital to plan and carry out terror attacks, hoping the medical center would provide protection from Israeli counter-terror operations, the military said, in "another example of the cynical use by terror groups of civilian spaces and hospitals as cover and as human shields." The comment was an apparent reference to the same tactic used by Gaza terrorists.

The IDF, Shin Bet and police accused Jalamneh of using the hospital as a hideout while planning attacks to be carried out in "the immediate time frame."

Israeli troops have carried out dozens of raids in and around Jenin in recent months. Israel says that the PA has lost control of areas of the northern West Bank, allowing terror groups to entrench themselves and launch attacks on Israelis on both sides of the Green Line.

In a statement, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk pointed to reports that the Israeli military is working inside the Gaza Strip to destroy all buildings within a kilometer of the border fence with Israel with the objective of creating a “buffer zone.”

“I stress to the Israeli authorities that Article 53 of the Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits destruction by the occupying power of property belonging to private persons, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations,'” he said.

Turk warned that the objective of creating a buffer zone for general security purposes did “not appear consistent with the narrow ‘military operations’ exception set out in international humanitarian law.”

He added that such “extensive destruction of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly, amounts to a grave breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and a war crime.”

Israeli officials have repeatedly said that they seek to have only a temporary security presence in Gaza following the end of the war, with no civilian control of the population.

that his strategy of de-escalation will only add fuel to the fire as the state-sponsored terrorist region continues to amass weapons.

According to a report from the Institute for Science and International Security, a watchdog group, Iran has enough weapons-grade uranium to produce a nuclear weapon within just a week. The terrorist country would also be able to make a total of six bombs within a month.

The watchdog group warned that the threat level in regard to Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon has entered into an "extreme danger" rating. As the conflict in the Middle East continues to evolve, this scenario becomes more likely play out in due time.

It is worth noting that this is the first time the threat level has ever reached this level, signaling "extreme danger" for the international community.

"The volatile situation in the region is providing Iran with a unique opportunity and increased internal justification for building nuclear weapons while the United States and Israel's resources to detect and deter Iran from succeeding are stretched thin," the report read. "The ongoing conflicts are leading to the neglect of the Iranian nuclear threat at a time when Iran's nuclear weapons capabilities have never been greater."

Since May 2023, the threat of a nuclear war produced by Iran's nuclear program has "increased dramatically."

The watchdog group reported on the Iranian nuclear program's threat level in October 2022. Last year, Iran's total threat score was 140 out of 180. This year, the score is 151.

"If Iran wanted to further enrich its 60 percent enriched uranium up to 90 percent weapon-grade uranium (WGU), used in Iran's known nuclear weapons designs from the Amad Plan, it could do so quickly," the report continued. "It can break out and produce enough weapon-grade enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in a week, using only a fraction of its 60 percent enriched uranium. This breakout could be difficult for inspectors to detect promptly if Iran took steps to delay inspectors' access."

The report pointed out that it could have enough for twelve weapons after only five months of producing weapons-grade uranium.

Iran vows to keep backing Hezbollah during regional tensions linked to Israel-Hamas war

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...

Hezbollah began attacks along Lebanon's border with Israel on Oct. 8 after 17 years of relative calm, a day after Hamas launched its attack on southern Israel that triggered the ongoing war. Hezbollah officials have said they will stop attacking Israeli military posts when Israel's attack on Gaza ends.

"Hezbollah and the resistance in Lebanon have courageously and wisely carried out their deterring and effective role," Amirabdollahian told news hounds at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport.

He said Iran will continue "its strong support to the resistance in Lebanon, as we consider Lebanon's security as the security of Iran and the region."

Shortly before he arrived in Beirut, Syrian state media reported that the country's air defense units shot down two drones near Damascus, the capital. State TV quoted a military statement as saying the drones came from the direction of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The Syrian military statement gave no further details.
