Chocolate snorting offers new way to a cocoa high
[NEWS.YAHOO] When Belgian chocolatier Dominique Persoone created a chocolate-sniffing device for a Rolling Stones party in 2007, he never imagined demand would stretch much beyond the rock 'n' roll scene. But, seven years later, he has sold 25,000 of them.

Inspired by a device his grandfather used to propel tobacco snuff up his nose, Persoone created a 'Chocolate Shooter' to deliver a hit of Dominican Republic or Peruvian cocoa powder, mixed with mint and either ginger or raspberry.

"The mint and the ginger really tinkle your nose," the 46-year-old said in his chocolate factory in the medieval city of Bruges. "Then the mint flavor goes down and the chocolate stays in your brain."

Tattoo-clad Persoone, who has collaborated with celebrated chefs such as The Fat Duck's Heston Blumenthal and elBulli's Ferran and Albert Adria, has a history of culinary innovation.

Alongside the classics, he has created chocolates flavored with bacon and onion, oysters and even grass.

It took some perfecting to create the snorting powder as chocolate itself was too dry. Before the successful formula was discovered, Persoone used a mix that included chili pepper.

"It's a very bad idea," he said.

The chocolate shooters, which sell for 45 euros ($50) each, have been exported to Russia, India, Canada, Australia and the United States.

The packaging bears a warning against excessive sniffing, but Persoone insists it is safe. He was inspired by the role of the nose when tasting food and, he says, a certain idea of fun.

"The mentality when you think about sniffing is: 'Oh it's kinky, guys who do that stuff...'" Persoone said.

"I'm not the bad boy promoting drugs, not at all ... Life is boring. Let's have fun."

Bobbi Kristina Brown's Family Members Get Into Fight At Hotel, Report Says
[ATLANTA.CBSLOCAL] Two members of Bobbi Kristina Brown's family reportedly got into a fight at an Atlanta hotel.

WXIA-TV reports that Tina Brown hit Shayne Brown in the head with a bottle at the W. Midtown Atlanta Hotel Friday morning. Tina Brown is the sister of Bobby Brown and Shayne Brown is the cousin of Bobby Brown.

Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones told WXIA that Shayne Brown drove himself to a hospital and was treated for lacerations to his head, while Tina Brown left the hotel before authorities arrived.

The alleged fight comes as Bobby Brown's lawyer refuted claims that the family was gathering at Bobbi Kristina Brown's bedside to say goodbye to her.

People reports that Bobbi Kristina's family was informed that nothing more could be done for her after she was found face-down in a bathtub last week.

"Everyone is coming to the hospital to say goodbye," a family member told People.

"It's sinking in that this is it," another family member told People, "but we're all still praying that God will intervene and heal her body."

35-yr-old man says witches instructed him to cut off his doinker
[PULSE.NG] Frustrated with his inability to perform his duties as a man on the bed, a 35-year-old man in Kwara State, Wahab Sa'adu, has reportedly cut off his penis with a razor blade in a bush close to his house located at Alapa, Asa local government area of the state.

A family member reports that Sa'adu rushed back to the house with his severed penis in hands on Monday, 26 January, 2015.

Sa'adu was immediately rushed to a private clinic in the area for first aid treatment before he was transferred to another private hospital in Ilorin, the state capital.

Speaking in on his experience while still in the hospital, Sa'adu said that he was acting on the instructions of witches who appeared to him in his dreams, telling him to cut off his penis since he was impotent.

"Prior to the incident, I had a dream in which three unidentified women appeared to me and ordered that I drink battery acid, which I did the following morning without the knowledge of anyone.

Three days after, I had another dream where the same women ordered me to wake up and cut off my manhood. It was after cutting it off that I regained consciousness. So I rushed home for immediate remedy."

This Week In Guns, February 7th, 2015

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

So, the stage is set for today for the civil disobedience protest at the visitor's gallery at the state capitol building in Olympia, Washington. Right now, Sipsey Street Irregulars' Mike Vanderboegh is in Washington state and preparing to participate, as I understand it. The Washington state police have threatened to arrest anyone who attempts to walk into the visitors' gallery strapped with a rifle.

A number of people were against Vanderboegh going to protest, given his poor health. Actually what I read the issue here was whether anything could be gained by being arrested and charged with criminal trespass in an open carry state.

Washington is one of the states which voted via a plebiscite last November to impose mandatory universal background checks for all firearms transfers, even those that do not involve actual transfer of ownership. The law is being put into effect by the Washington state legislature, so I must disagree with the tactic. I fail to see how this protest against a capricious, arbitrary rule will turn that about -- other than to show people that firearms owners won't comply with the new, draconian law.

A local rag, the Seattle Times agrees with the ban (I know: you're so surprised), saying: "A group of knuckleheads, openly armed to the teeth, got that absurdity fixed when they protested the new voter-approved background check law with a display in the gallery. Senate leadership, understandably feeling menaced, banned open carrying of guns in the seating area above their desks."

Knuckleheads as men and women whose rights have been horribly violated by a political vote intended to destroy those rights, and they are the knuckleheads? Those "knuckleheads are presumably the only ones in Washington state that emerge from this not in a marijuana induced fog, unlike the voters.

Here are some well prepared arguments for preparing a ruck sack/bug out bag from Defensive Training Group.

As an aside, here is a pictorial on the average soldier's kit since 1066.

Loads.

Africa Subsaharan
S.Sudan fighters carried out 'month of rape' campaign: UN
[Al Ahram] South Sudanese fighters carried out a "month of rape" campaign, a top United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
rights chief has said, warning that atrocities continue with a seventh ceasefire broken.
It's like South Sudan is a giant frat house or something...
"Violations continue to take place," said UN Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic, after visiting the "destroyed" towns of Bentiu and Malakal.

Simonovic, speaking after visiting areas that have seen some of the worst fighting in the past 13 months of war, said he had received the "simply appalling" report of fighters embarking on a campaign of rape.

"This is absolutely intolerable," he said, without giving further details as to which of the multiple armed forces was responsible.
Did Theresa Sullivan intervene?
"It is essential to push for peace, this situation is not sustainable," he added, in a statement released Friday.

Fighting erupted in South Sudan, the world's youngest nation, in December 2013 when President Salva Kiir accused ousted deputy Riek Machar of attempting a coup. It quickly spread from the capital Juba, triggering a cycle of retaliatory massacres across the country.

Zainab Bangura, UN envoy on sexual violence, said in October that the levels of rape in South Sudan were the worst she had ever seen, reporting horrific accounts of children and the elderly repeatedly raped.

UN chief the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
this week accused the leaders of putting their own interests above those of their people, after they agreed another ceasefire on Sunday but failed to reach a power-sharing deal.

Kiir and Machar have been set a March 5 deadline to strike a final full peace agreement, but similar previous deadlines have been repeatedly ignored.

Diplomats at peace talks in luxury hotels in Addis Ababa --
Can't do peace talks from a hovel, chum...
due to restart later this month -- have warned that hopes of formulating a comprehensive deal that addresses South Sudan's underlying problems and tribal divisions have faded.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
has said the latest deal "made little significant progress" towards a final agreement.

More than two dozen armed forces -- from ragtag militia, to rebels from neighbouring Sudan's Darfur region, to Ugandan troops backing Kiir -- are all now fighting.

"In order to build sustainable peace, there needs to be much broader participation in the grinding of the peace processor," Simonovic added, calling for talks to also include representatives of all ethnic groups, as well as women, civil society groups and religious leaders.
If that's how it's to be, they might as well go back to Sudanese control -- they'd have fewer rapacious rulers to pay for.

Arabs visiting 'development sites' not hunting bustards: Govt official
[DAWN] Adviser to the Chief Minister Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
on Forest and Wild Life, Obaidullah Jan Babat on Friday claimed that members of Arab royal families were visiting the province to review development projects, and not to hunt the endangered houbara bustard.

"They are visiting development sites in Dalbandin, they are not hunting," the adviser claimed when asked about the arrival of Governor Tabuk, Prince Fahad Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz.

"We will never violate the court's order," Babat said, referring to an earlier decision by a division bench of the Balochistan High Court that had banned the hunting of houbara bustards in the province and ordered the cancellation of all permits issued for the purpose.

Political party faction behind Baldia factory fire, Rangers tell SHC
[DAWN] Rangers personnel on Friday presented a report in the Sindh High Court which revealed that a faction of a political party was behind the deadly 2012 Baldia Town fire that consumed at least 258 factory workers.

The Joint Investigation Division (JID) report also said that a suspect from the party has been nabbed
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
The suspect had made several confessions of which the court was apprised today, although his/her identity and affiliation has reportedly not been disclosed in the report.

According to sources, Rangers have requested the Sindh High Court to forgo revealing other details of the report before the public on account of what they called its sensitive nature.

The court again ordered the Sindh government to compensate 128 legal heirs of the deadly fire's victims still awaiting relief, and present a report before the court in this regard within a week's time.
