Plumber arrested over flame-thrower scooter
A man who created a scooter which fires 15ft flames from the rear, has been arrested because his vehicle now constitutes a firearm.

Colin Furze, is said to have been arrested by Lincolnshire Police after he revealed his flame-thrower scooter to the world last week. The anti-tailgating flame thrower is operated by the flick of a switch and shoots a 15ft flame out of the rear of his 60mph scooter.

But after it appeared on YouTube Furze is reported to have been quizzed by police on suspicion of possessing an object converted into a firearm.

#2  Hey!!! Since a "firearm" must shoot flames, does this mean that pistols and rifles are legal in old blighty?

#3  In a crisis like this there are many unknowns and considerable uncertainty. Since the Obama administration has demonstrated nearly total incompetence in just about everything; I would take with a grain of salt anything a spokesman from BO administration says. The Japanese have reported what is ongoing and actions taken. They have been a bit busy lately. The speculation has been left to others in the news media and talking heads.

#4  Years of procrastion paying off at Fukushima (NY Times):
Years of procrastination in deciding on long-term disposal of highly radioactive fuel rods from nuclear reactors is now coming back to haunt Japanese authorities as they try to control fires and explosions at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. Japan, like the United States, has kept ever larger numbers of spent fuel rods in temporary storage pools at the power plants, where they can be guarded with the same security provided for the power plant. Nuclear engineers around the world have been expressing surprise this week that the storage pools have become such a problem. “I’m amazed that they couldn’t keep the water in the pools,” said Robert Albrecht, a longtime nuclear engineer.

#5  Years of procrastination in deciding on long-term disposal of highly radioactive fuel rods from nuclear reactors is now coming back to haunt Japanese authorities as they try to control fires and explosions at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.

Breeder reactors utilize nuclear wastes. Japan has one breeder reactor. France, Germany, India have breeders. We have no operational breeder reactors in the U.S. Jimmy Carter put the kibosh on breeder reactors and the Congress under Reagan in 1982 starved the Cinch River Breeder Reactor program of funds.

#1  New reactors may be built better, safer, smaller, and more efficient - if they would only let us build them.

#2  Figured this would happen. The Euros, except for France, have always been skittish about nukes. The greenies will use any excuse at all to cancel their nuclear programs. Far better for Euros to sit in the dark, cold, then to have electricity generated by a nuclear plant.

Of course, there's a fair number of Americans who feel the same way.

DEA Seizes Georgia’s Supply of Drug Used in Executions
All Georgia executions are off after federal drug agents seized the state's supply of a sedative used in lethal injections.

The drug was used in January to execute Emmanuel Hammond, a 45-year-old man convicted for the 1988 shotgun slaying of an Atlanta preschool teacher. His attorneys sought a delay to gather more information on how the state obtained the drug, claiming in court documents it came from a "fly-by-night supplier operating from the back of a driving school in England." They said the drug could have been counterfeit.

The U.S. Supreme Court, as well as lower courts, rejected Hammond's argument.
Seems the Obama administration doesn't care for the Supreme Court's ruling. Either that or they are planning to run that stash over to Mexico.

Iran Unveils Flying Saucer
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran unveiled a home-made unmanned flying saucer in an exhibition of strategic technologies.

The unmanned flying saucer, named "Zohal", was unveiled in a ceremony attended by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. Zohal, designed and developed jointly by Farnas Aerospace Company and Iranian Aviation and Space Industries Association (IASIA), can be used for various missions, specially for aerial imaging.

The flying machine is equipped with an auto-pilot system, GPS (Global Positioning System) and two separate imaging systems with full HD 10 mega-pixel picture quality and is able to take and send images simultaneously. Zohal uses a small, portable navigation and monitoring center for transmission of data and images and can fly in both outdoor and indoor spaces.
