Peter Daszak, major funder of Wuhan lab, faces growing scrutiny amid COVID origins probe
[Just The News] As interest in the Wuhan "lab-leak theory" has intensified, a man at the center of the controversy has undergone a dramatic reversal of public and professional fortune.

Peter Daszak funded the Wuhan Institute of Virology from NIH grant awards that were largely shielded from wide public view. Later he posed as an ostensibly disinterested expert on the origins of COVID-19 in his roles as official international investigator, scientific researcher, and media commentator.

A British-born zoologist, Daszak is the president of EcoHealth Alliance, a New York-based research nonprofit focused on emerging infectious diseases. Closely involved with the global response to SARS-Cov-2 since early last year, Daszak was among the organizers and signatories of an influential letter in February 2020 condemning "conspiracy theories" surrounding the potential laboratory origin of the COVID-19 virus. He was given space in major international newspapers to argue vehemently against the lab-leak theory. And he was eventually selected to participate in the World Health Organization's investigation into the origins of SARS-Cov-2.

Yet in recent months, Daszak has suffered a fall from public grace: He has been sidelined from further investigations into COVID-19's origins; his earlier advocacy of the "natural origin" theory of COVID-19 has been retroactively footnoted to acknowledge (with varying degrees of transparency) his links to the Wuhan lab; and he has been subject to harsh media criticism as those links have become more widely known.

The editors of the renowned British medical journal The Lancet, for instance, this month published an addendum to the letter Daszak coauthored in March of last year, expanding on Daszak's "competing interests" regarding the subject of SARS-Cov-2's origins. The note did not mention the Wuhan Institute of Virology specifically — instead obliquely referring to "EcoHealth Alliance's work in China" — but more than a year after the letter was first published, his conflicting interests were tacitly acknowledged.

This was not the first time editors were forced to issue an update to clarify Daszak's associations. His June 2020 article in the Guardian originally made no mention of his link to the Wuhan Institute of Virology; that clarification was added about a week after the article was first published.

Even in cases where the research links between Daszak and the WIV were initially acknowledged, Daszak's heavy funding of the Wuhan lab was left unspoken, as in reports in the Wall Street Journal and in Vox.

Widow of John McAfee Says He Was Not Suicidal, Reveals His Final Words to Her
[Western Journal] The widow of antivirus software tech tycoon and libertarian advocate John McAfee blamed U.S. authorities for her husband’s Wednesday death and said he was not suicidal.
"He was pining for the fjords"
McAfee was found dead in a Spanish jail cell Wednesday in what Spanish authorities and his lawyer ruled an apparent suicide.

Janice McAfee is calling for an investigation into her husband’s death, according to Reuters.

"His last words to me were ’I love you and I will call you in the evening,'" she told reporters Friday outside the Barcelona prison where McAfee had been held.

"Those words are not words of someone who is suicidal."

Colorado man who fatally shot cop killer was mistakenly slain by police
[JPost] - A Colorado man who fatally shot a gunman who had just killed a police officer was himself slain by a responding officer who apparently mistook him for the cop killer, authorities said on Friday.

Johnny Hurley, 40, was shot while holding a rifle belonging to a 59-year-old man who moments earlier had fatally ambushed police officer Gordon Beesley, police in the Denver suburb of Arvada said in a statement.

Hurley shot Ronald Troyke with a handgun. It was unclear why he picked up the dead man's weapon.

The tragic series of events unfolded on Monday afternoon after Troyke's brother called police saying he feared his sibling was going "to do something crazy," the statement said.

Beesley and another officer went to Troyke's apartment but were unable to locate him. Minutes later Beesley responded to a report of a suspicious man in Arvada's Olde Town Square.

Video footage released by police shows Troyke getting out of a pickup truck with a 12-gauge semiautomatic shotgun and approaching Beesley.

Police said Troyke called out to Beesley, who is seen turning toward the gunman, and the officer was shot twice with no time to take "defensive action." Police did not release video of the actual shooting.

Troyke then shot out windows in nearby patrol cars before running back to his truck and retrieving an AR-15 rifle, police said. He headed back to the plaza, where he was shot by Hurley.

Salma Hayek: My boobies honkers breasts keep growing 'a lot' — but they're natural

[NYPOST] When life gives you melons, you may have to explain to the public that they’re not fake. Salma Hayek has gone on the record to say that yes, her breasts are real — but she can understand why fans might think otherwise.
"They just keep gettin' bigger 'n' bigger!
"A lot of people said that I had breast augmentation. I don’t blame them! My udders boobs were smaller! So was the rest of my body," the 54-year-old actress said Wednesday on "Red Table Talk," the Facebook Watch series Jada Pinkett Smith co-hosts with her daughter, Willow Smith, and mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris.
Sorry I missed it.
Her growth, however, is all natural. Hayek explained that it happened significantly during life changes like pregnancy, menopause and periods of weight gain.
Yeah, sure. Happens all the time.
It does, though that isn’t one of the things they talk about in s3x ed. classes. And very disconcerting it is, too, until older female friends’n’relations explain the possible side effects of aging for females.
"For some women, they deflate get smaller. But there are some women that when you gain weight, your boobs grow, and other women that when you have children and you breastfeed your boobs grow and they don’t go back down, and then in some of the cases when you are in menopause, they grow again," she said. "I just happen to be one of those women that it happened in every single step! When I gain weight, when I got pregnant and when I am in menopause."
At the rate they're growing, by the time she's seventy, she can stand in Saint Louis and her nipples will be in New Orleans.
Wished The Other Hayek's ideas would grow as much

Derek Chauvin Sentenced To 22.5 Years For Floyd Killing
[ZERO] Update (1500ET): Judge Cahill handed down a sentence of 270 months - 22.5 years - to Chauvin, with a credit for 199 days of time already served.
Credit for time served? Golly.
The sentence is greater by 10 years than the 150-month (12.5 years) "recommended" sentence (represented by the average sentence for a second-degree murder conviction, the most senior of Chauvin's charges).

Before handing down the sentence the judge delivered a brief statement, insisting that his decision wasn't based on public opinion, the sentence is not based on emotion or sympathy, but at the same time, I want to acknowledge the deep and tremendous pain that all the families are feeling especially the Floyd family...I acknowledge the pain not only of those in this court room but Floyd family members outside this courtroom...most importantly we need to recognize the pain if the Floyd family."

The sentence, the judge said, is based on "your abuse of position and cruelty to George Floyd." Prosecutors had asked the judge to hand down a 30 year sentence.

In addition to the order, the judge released a 22-page sentencing memorandum, which will be released shortly.

Assuming he maintains a record of good behavior, Chauvin can be out in 15 years, serving the rest of his sentence on probation. To be sure, he is also now the focus of a federal investigation that seems intended solely to ensure that he will never be a free man again.

Motherfcukers. Filthy, SOB, #%@ksucking motherfcukers. Swine in suits and robes. May they never see their own families happy again, the sons of whores. May their beloved Floyds and DeShawns reach into their secure lives and fcuk their smug happiness somehow.

#6  insisting that his decision wasn't based on public opinion, the sentence is not based on emotion or sympathy

Somehow, the fact judge has taken unusual pains to reassure us that everything is on the up-and-up only serves to make me suspicious that it is not. That, plus the facts of the case...

Chauvin had to be sacrificed to the mob, lest our Blue cites burn. (You say that like it is a bad thing!)
I think the play is:
Chauvin goes to jail for a few years while the appeal paper-shuffling takes place and things can calm down. Assuming he survives prison, the case eventually gets tossed on appeal due to the prosecution's egregious conduct.

If he does not survive then it all becomes moot. Also, Chauvin Didn't Kill Himself becomes a meme.

Brothers Abscond With $4 Billion In Crypto Stolen From South African Exchange
[ZERO] In a story that will sound familiar to anybody who followed the collapse of Canadian crypto exchange Quadriga, two brothers who ran a South African crypto exchange have absconded with Bitcoin worth $3.6 billion stolen from their clients, demonstrating once again the one glaring security weakness: While hackers are believed to have brought down Mt. Gox, disillusioned insiders with the right kind of access can easily run off with a life-changing amount of wealth. And in many cases, clients who trusted the exchange to safeguard their assets will be left holding the bag.

Africrypt Chief Operating Officer Ameer Cajee, the older of the two brothers, reportedly informed clients back in April that the company had been the victim of a hack, but asked them to keep quiet, claiming that involving the authorities could "slow down the recovery" of the missing funds. However, the crime has since been reported to the Hawks, South Africa's federal police in charge of disrupting organized criminal enterprises. Ameer Cajee started the company with his brother Raees in 2019 and initially it provided "bumper returns" for investors.

Museveni Appoints Son Commander of the Army
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni
...President-for-Life of Uganda. He assumed office in 1985. His primary virtue is being prefereable to both his predecessors, Idi Amin and Milton Obote...
has appointed his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba the commander of land forces in the army.

It is the second time in six months that the Head of State is promoting his 48-year old son in the security institution.

Muhoozi previously served as head of the Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite guard that specializes in protecting the President and first family.

A laid-back guy in public but with a commanding posture who is known for posting warning messages towards Uganda's 'enemies' on Twitter, Muhoozi is seen by many as a candidate to succeed his father, should he elect to retire after being President for close to four decades.

His latest promotion comes days after Museveni also reappointed his wife the Minister for Sports and Education.

This coming after the 76-year old won the 2021 presidential elections after garnering 58 percent of all votes cast, according to the electoral commision.

In other announcements made on Thursday, June 24, 2021, Museveni, who is serving his sixth term five-year term, promoted Wilson Mbasu Mbadi to the rank of General and appointed him as the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), replacing Gen David Muhoozi who was recently appointed as the Minister of State for Internal Affairs.

Liberia: More Push for War Crimes Court
[All Africa] Following a recent threat by Mark Jabateh to kill Liberia's Chief Justice Francis S. Korkpor, Sr. if a single Mandingo man got killed in a land dispute, the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) has intensified the call for the establishment of a war and economic crimes court to curtail impunity of war crimes here.

LNBA president Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe told judicial news hounds Monday, 26 April that impunity is too much in the country to the extent that some perpetrators of war crimes are even calling upon their war - time allies and those they commanded to rise up for whatever grievances they have."And that is why we are calling on all Liberians, all Liberians to, to support the establishment of the extraordinary tribunal for war and economic crimes," Cllr. Gongloe says.

Cllr. Gongloe condemns Jabateh's threat on the life of Chief Justice Korkpor, saying the Judicial branch, just like the other two branches of government, has challenges and the citizens, especially lawyers, are working to help improve the system."But that should not give anybody in this country the right to threaten any judge, any magistrate, any Justice of the Supreme Court based on how they see their work," Gongloe warns.

#1  Few things are more likely to inspire the former warlords to call on their old allies and unearth their weapons caches than a war crimes court.

South Africa had not just been through a civil war, and the DeKlerk/Mandela agreements hadn't been forced. The South Africa model is wrong for Liberia.

Russian FSB releases historical data on atrocities against Soviet POWs
Direct Translation of the article
[RIA Novosti] During the Nazi occupation of Crimea during the Great Patriotic War, Hitler's doctors experimented on prisoners of war and civilian Soviet citizens - they cut out kidneys and blood vessels from people, pumped out blood for the wounded German military.

Once near the basement where the prisoners of war were kept, they found a note. "We are sitting here, doomed to death, experiments are being done on us, they are giving mysterious injections," Galkin quoted its contents.
This is evidenced by archival materials declassified by the FSB department for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, which RIA Novosti got acquainted with.

"As of today, the amount of damage according to the acts of the city and district administrations is 201 million 74 thousand rubles (over 76 million hryvnias - ed.). Payments to the victims continue. Payments were received by 941 citizens in the amount of more than 60 million rubles (almost 23 million hryvnias - ed. )", - said the "head of the government "of Crimea Yuri Gotsanyuk at a meeting of the operational headquarters.

MiG-31K fighters join Russian Navy’s maneuvers in Mediterranean
[TASS] MiG-31K fighters capable of employing Kinzhal hypersonic missiles have joined the Russian Navy’s maneuvers in the Mediterranean Sea, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

"In the course of the joint maneuvers of the Russian Navy’s standing Mediterranean taskforce and aircraft of Russia’s Aerospace Force that kicked off in the eastern Mediterranean on June 25, the crews of MiG-31K planes capable of employing the latest Kinzhal hypersonic missiles that arrived at the Russian Hmeymim airbase in the Syrian Arab Republic the other day have started accomplishing the tasks of mastering the airspace in the maritime zone," the ministry said in a statement.

MiG-31K fighters arrived at the Russian Hmeymim airbase in Syria for the first time, following the upgrade and the extension of the second runway with the complete replacement of the runway’s surface and the installation of new lighting navigational facilities and radio-technical equipment, the statement says.

"Tu-22M3 long-range bombers have also performed their training flights over the Mediterranean Sea," the Defense Ministry said.

Overall, the drills involve five Russian warships, including the missile cruiser Moskva, the frigates Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov and the submarines Stary Oskol and Rostov-on-Don. The aircraft of Russia’s Aerospace Force are represented in the joint maneuvers by Tu-142MK and Il-38 anti-submarine warfare planes, Tu-22M3 long-range bombers and MiG-31K fighters, the ministry specified.

"The hypothetical enemy with the designated characteristics was simulated electronically by the shipborne armament control system," the statement says.

Related: Russia approves naval basing agreement in Sudan
[TASS] Russia’s government has approved an agreement with Sudan on establishing a Russian navy logistics center in Sudan, the agreement will be submitted to the president, according to a government resolution posted on the official website of legal information on Friday.

"To approve and refer to the Russian president for submitting to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly for ratification the agreement between Russia and Sudan on the establishment of a logistics center of the Russian Navy in Sudan that was signed in Khartoum on July 23, 2019, and in Moscow on December 1, 2020," the document reads.

Under the agreement, Sudan hands over the territory and real estate, including the coastline and a water zone with berthing facilities to Russia for free use. The upper limit of the center’s military and civil personnel shall not exceed 300, with any increase possible upon Sudan’s consent. The agreement’s term is 25 years, with automatic extension for ten-year periods in case neither of the sides notifies the other in written through diplomatic channels about its intention to terminate the agreement at least a year ahead of its expiration.

Sudan said on June 1 it planned to review its naval base agreement with Russia. Sudanese Chief of General Staff Muhammad Othman al-Hussein said in an interview with the Blue Nile TV channel Khartoum was in talks with Moscow to revise the agreement to take into account its interests and benefits.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on June 10 that the text of the naval base agreement could be changed but Moscow confirmed its interest in cooperation with Khartoum. She recalled that the agreement had been signed by an authorized representative of the Sudanese transitional Supreme Council in Khartoum on July 23, 2019, i.e. after the change of political regime in Sudan. "The document has not been ratified by Sudan, as the country has no legislative authority with such powers. It means changes can be introduced into the text upon agreement of the parties," she said.

According to the publication, the new regulations are under consideration by the leadership of the Aerospace Forces and the Navy. The incident with a British destroyer in the Black Sea could speed up the adoption of new rules.

According to some reports, the set of weapons that should be used by combat aircraft against intruder ships may be revised. In particular, dropping bombs along the offender's course can be replaced by the use of unguided air-to-surface missiles.

The Russian military believes that provocations with an invasion of the territorial waters of the Russian Federation will become more frequent, but unguided rockets are enough to demonstrate serious intentions.

This takes into account the fact that in the event of a provocation, the task of destroying a foreign ship is not posed, and the impact of fire should only suppress its actions.

As reported by IA REGNUM , on June 23, the British destroyer URO HMS Defender invaded the territorial waters of Russia off the coast of Crimea. The border ship opened warning fire, but the intruder ignored it. After that, the Su-24M bombers of the Black Sea Fleet dropped OFAB-250 high-explosive fragmentation bombs along the course of the British destroyer, forcing it to withdraw into neutral waters.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has officially warned the British side that next time the strike will be made directly on the ship.

China-Japan-Koreas
Nike CEO John Donahoe Pledges Allegiance To China, Says It's ‘A Brand That Is Of China And For China'
[DailyCaller] 'Nike is a brand that is of China and for China,' Donahoe said during a call with Wall Street analysts after being asked about the backlash Nike received in China for having expressed concern about human rights abuses in Xinjiang.

Here's the Statement of Concern that got Bejing's, ahem, attention.

Nike CEO John Donahoe then, apparently, got a "Melvin" from the Chinese and had to do like the pic. U.S. Citizens are out of frame to the Left.
Lie down with dogs...

#1  Donahue?? The same asshole who ran eBay into the ground?
How the hell did he end up at Nike? Shilling for China?

Something very strange going on here.

Mr. Donahoe, you remind me of a fish, swims to where the feeding is good, because of the number of insects are plentiful, freshly killed, and juicy. Judgement of the waters made you swim far away from your spawning grounds, a place you are best suited for, with knowledge of your environment.

Covid killed our economy(water), people are slow to restart work (insects), we are ripe for the expansion of our economy because of pent-up demand (juicy), our environment is America, the home of the free and the brave (where your company started). We will rebound stronger than ever.

Unfortunately for you and NIKE, a bargain has been struck with China rather than your formerly native and supporting spawning ground... you are now a foreign species. You have taken in too much foreign water, changed your DNA...no longer American but Oriental.

NIKE are now fish to hook, capture and cook.

Good Luck in your attempt to 'come back', frankly you are not wanted here as prized fish but rather as a despised fish.

#4  This shithead bought a bunch of crappy little companies for about $3 billion, without the faintest clue how to get any value out of them, and ended up selling them off in a fire sale for about 1/3 of what he paid.

Along the way Donahoe heaped scorn upon a far sharper businessman, investor Carl Icahn, who correctly assessed the eBay management to be incompetent nitwits and who judged that only PayPal was worth buying.

Typical consulting tool.

AG Garland and US Justice Department sues Georgia over election laws
[BBC] The Biden Justice Department has announced that it will sue the state of Georgia over new voting laws passed in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

Attorney General Merrick Garland said the laws were "enacted with the purpose of denying or abridging the right of black Georgians to vote".

Republicans, who control Georgia's state legislature, say the restrictions streamline voting procedures.

Mr Garland also issued a mandate to prosecute threats to election workers.

It amounts to the first major action the Biden administration has taken in response to a wave of voting restrictions passed in Republican-led states.
