Ex-con who is friends with woke DA Alvin Bragg and appeared on Joe Rogan last month is arrested for murder after severed head was found in Bronx apartment: Pictured arriving to apartment with blue bin and in multiple disguises
[DM] An ex-con who is friends with woke DA Alvin Bragg and appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast last month has been charged with murder after a severed head was found at a Bronx apartment.

Justice reform advocate Sheldon Johnson, 48, told the popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast on February 1 about his journey 'changing his life around' after being jailed for 50 years for two violent robberies.

He regaled Rogan's audience with tales of his rise to the top of one of the prison's most notorious gangs, before insisting it was all behind him.

'I've been doing bad for so long I'm going to try to do something good, if all else fails I can go back to doing something bad,' he said at the time.

Just a month after the episode aired, Johnson was charged in relation to a dismembered body found in a bin and a head stashed in a freezer belonging to victim Colin Small, 44.

Johnson, who works with at-risk youth at the Queens Defenders in New York, joined Rogan to discuss his justice reform advocacy.

During the chat, he admitted to dealing drugs and robbing those who could not settle their debts - acts for which a judge reportedly branded him, 'a menace to society.'

He described robbing a debtor and his girlfriend in the 1990s with the help of a gang of accomplices, one of whom pistol-whipped the victim leaving him with a head wound.

Johnson also admitted he 'roughed up' a second robbery victim, although he insisted the man was not physically harmed. Johnson was given consecutive 25-year sentences for the crimes.

While in prison, the convicted felon said he was smoking weed and drinking 'jailhouse hooch.'

'I was in a gang, I was top of the food chain. I had my own nation under me, I wasn't just like a random gang member,' Johnson told Rogan.

But he claims that stints in solitary confinement, where he was restricted to a diet consisting of bread with cabbage and carrots six days a week, helped him rethink his approach to life.

'I was really looking at myself and reevaluating and thinking, "what the f*** are you doing",' Johnson explained.

'I remember thinking, "what are you going to do? Can you live out the next 48 years like this?" I said I couldn't do it.'

National Guardswoman, 27, and her daughter, 11, are shot dead while sitting in parked car as cops arrest man and search for another 'armed and dangerous' suspect in Massachusetts
[MAIL] The hunt is on for an 'armed and dangerous' gunman accused of murdering a young National Guardswoman and her blind daughter in a hail of bullets as they sat in a car outside their home.

Massachusetts mom-of-two Chasity Nunez, 27, was killed alongside eleven-year-old Zella in a street packed with children at 3pm in Worcester on Tuesday.

She was due to return to service on Saturday with the Connecticut Army National Guard where colleagues described her as 'incredibly resilient and brilliantly intelligent'.

Karel Mangual, 28, was arrested last night and appeared in court today as police search for his suspected accomplice Dejan Belnavis, 27. Mangual was charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and one of owning a firearm without a license.

He already faced three open cases is and was refused bail before being remanded to Worcester County House of Correction pending a dangerousness hearing on March 12.

Chasity's mother Noemi Nunez said she had never heard of either man, and cousin Tyrae Sims said whoever killed her had no reason for the 'senseless' murder.

'In any inner city, anyone that has any kind of morality understands it's always been no women, no children,' he told NBC Boston.

In Philadelphia, eight schoolchildren were injured in a shooting at a traffic stop.
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] At least eight high school students were injured in a shooting by unknown assailants at a bus stop in the American city of Philadelphia. Fox News reported this on March 6, citing the police.

It is specified that the shooting occurred on the afternoon of March 6 in the northeastern part of the city. According to Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, the teenagers, between the ages of 15 and 17, were waiting at a bus stop when three armed men got out of a parked car and opened fire.

In total, the unknown attackers fired more than 30 shots. One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, received nine gunshot wounds and is in critical condition. Seven other victims, six boys and a girl, were hospitalized in stable condition.

The perpetrators who opened fire on the children are being sought by the police.

Earlier, IA Regnum reported that authorities in the US state of Missouri brought charges of manslaughter against two men in connection with the shooting during a parade in Kansas City. The shooting began amid a conflict that occurred between two groups of people who were at the parade during the celebration of the final of the next season in American football. The victim of the incident was a woman, a mother of two children and a local radio presenter. Another 29 people were injured.

It was also reported that two police officers and a firefighter-paramedic were killed in a shooting in Burnsville in the US state of Minnesota. Police and rescuers responded to an emergency call to a private home where an armed criminal had barricaded himself, taking a family hostage. The criminal who opened fire died. Several other police officers were injured.

Illegal takes down officer, citizen takes down illegal
[ConservativeUS] In February, a police officer in Las Cruces, New Mexico, was viciously murdered by a suspect after responding to an emergency call. The local police department has released bodycam footage showing the tragic altercation that ended in the death of both the officer and his assailant.

The media however didn’t bother to report that the assailant was an illegal alien.

Hernandez responded to a trespassing call by the property owner at approximately 4:49 p.m. According to Story, the property owner confronted Silva for trespassing on the day before the attack.

There are ‘No Trespassing’ signs on the property, where Story said there has been a history of trespassing, vandalism and people leaving needles.

Story said at the same time the call was made, there were two other men who allegedly had cut a hole in the fence and were in the back part of the property.

Surveillance video captured by cameras on the property show Silva, in a dark hoodie and dark pants, walking around the building to a canopy in the back part of the property. Silva can see when Hernandez parks his vehicle along Valley at 4:55 p.m. and approaches.

On video captured by a body camera, Hernandez asks Silva if he is the person who made the trespassing complaint at the property.

Silva immediately approaches Hernandez with a knife in his right hand. Hernandez turns to run, but is stabbed before falling, after which Silva stabs Hernandez several more times. Hernandez is able to get to his feet, but falls.

It is about this moment that Silva notices another individual approaching him.

On Thursday, LCPD identified 29-year-old Issiah Astorga as the man who intervened in the attack, ultimately shooting and killing Silva. He was a concealed carrier and he felt that he reacted as any American would react in the situation.

Neither surveillance footage nor body camera footage show the interaction between Astorga and Silva, but three gun shots in succession can be heard from Hernandez’s body cam video, followed by another gunshot before Astorga is seen approaching Hernandez. Astorga and another person attempt to render aide to Hernandez and call for help.
MSN verifies the above, adding:
The Las Cruces Police Department released body camera and surveillance videos on Friday that showed the violent and deadly attack on 35-year-old Officer Jonah Hernandez. The videos showed Officer Hernandez being stabbed multiple times by 29-year-old Armando Silva.

The attack occurred while Hernandez was responding to a trespassing call on Feb. 11 on the 300 block of South Valley Drive.

Las Cruces Police Department Chief Jeremy Story said that if he was not required to release the videos under the Inspection of Public Records Act, he would not have. He provided the following message that he hopes the community takes away if they do decide to watch the videos: “The message is, you see how violent and fast it is. You see the dangers that officers face. And my ultimate message is that I will not let it be in vain,” said Story. “We have to collectively – and I can’t change it by myself – collectively, we have to have positive change for Jonah.”

At the news conference, Chief Story also presented his short and long-term goals to make Las Cruces safer. The goals are listed below:

Short-term goals:
  • Fill Las Cruces Police Department positions

    • LCPD has 25 vacancies as of March 1, 2024.

  • Replace or implement new ordinances to help aid officers in their response and benefit the community

  • Establish a real-time crime center that would serve Doña Ana County

Long-term goals:
  • Address competency issues in court to reduce the number of cases dismissed due to people being deemed incompetent

    • Chief Story said in the last three years, 576 cases were dismissed from Municipal Court on the grounds of incompetency.

  • Address bail reform

  • Address the fentanyl and meth crisis

One of the large issues Story pointed out was the number of repeat offenders police in Las Cruces deal with. “It is crime, arrest, release,” Story said repetitively and added, “That is the cycle we are seeing.”

Story said he has spoken with local and state lawmakers in hopes of inciting change ahead of and during the next legislative session. One recent proposed change Story believes will help with crime is Senate Bill 271. The bill, co-sponsored by Senator Joseph Cervantes (D-Las Cruces) and Senator Daniel Ivey-Soto (D-Albuquerque), was passed during this year’s legislative session. It creates an automatic no-bond hold if a repeat felony offender violates their conditions of release by committing another felony.

The bill is currently awaiting the governor’s signature. Despite that bill, Story said more changes need to be made within New Mexico’s criminal justice system. “The entire NM system is set up to protect criminals at the expense of everyone else,” he said.

LGBTQ non-profit founder is finally arrested on fraud and money laundering charges after TWO years on the run after she 'transferred $150,000 of Covid relief funds into her own bank account'
The founder of a Washington D.C. non-profit organization that served homeless LGBTQ+ youths has been arrested on fraud and money laundering charges two years after she left the US.

Ruby Corado, 53, is alleged to have received more than $1.3 million over two years from the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program.

Instead of using the funds as she had promised, she stole at least $150,000 by transferring the money to bank accounts in El Salvador under her birth name, keeping it hidden from the IRS, court documents allege.

After it was publicly revealed that Corado was under investigation in 2022, she sold her property in Prince George's County, Maryland, and left for El Salvador.

Casa Ruby closed its doors in July 2022, when it failed to pay its employees, shuttered its transitional housing, and faced eviction from multiple properties for failure to pay rent.

The organization used charitable donations from the public and grants from the District government to fund its services.

It employed almost 50 people prior to closing and provided services to more than 6,000 people each year.

The D.C. attorney general's office asked a Superior Court judge to freeze Corado's bank accounts and stop her from withdrawing any more funds.

Until that point, she was still taking funds from the organization's accounts, which she kept control of after she resigned, the District alleged.

Corado was arrested by the FBI at a hotel in Laurel, Maryland on Tuesday.

She faces federal charges of bank fraud, wire fraud, monetary transactions in criminally derived proceeds, laundering of monetary instruments, and failure to file a report of foreign bank account.

'There is probable cause to believe that CORADO, former Executive Director of a non-profit organization named Casa Ruby, fraudulently obtained funds from government-supported loan programs and diverted those funds to her bank account(s) located outside of the United States,' an FBI agent swore in an arrest affidavit.

'And CORADO, who is a lawful permanent resident of the United States, has never reported her foreign bank account(s) to the Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, as required by law.'

In November 2022, the D.C. Attorney General's Office filed a complaint stating Corado transferred more than $400,000 from the organization to her personal accounts between April 2021 and September 2021.

She was also accused of contravening District laws by paying workers less than the minimum wage and not giving them all of the wages for the hours worked. The suit is still pending.

Corado denied the allegations when she spoke to News4 from El Salvador and said that she was singled out for speaking out against Mayor Muriel Bowser's administration and a discrimination complaint she made against the D.C. Department of Human Services.

Bank fraud carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in jail and wire fraud carries up to 20 years. The money laundering charges carry up to 20 years.

#5  Almost all women’s college basketball teams practice against men that are not good enough to make the men’s team. It gives the women a competitive advantage so claiming a safety issue is sort of disingenuous at that level. Not so much at the HS level. At both levels, dudes have a physiological advantage and should not be eligible to play in competitive matches, earn awards or scholarships. With respect to the dudes that are used in practice, they are highly incentivized not to foul hard or they will be waiting tables to pay for college. The fake women in actual competition don’t seem to have much incentive not to hurt opposing players.

Lawsuit: Man Wakes Up to Scorpion Stinging Him in Groin at Las Vegas Resort
[Breitbart] A California man is suing a Las Vegas resort after he said a scorpion stung him in a very sensitive area while he was sleeping.

Michael Farchi told KABC that he is still suffering from health issues months after that fateful morning, December 26, at the Venetian Resort, located on the Vegas strip.

"I woke up with sharp pain in my private area," he recounted. "Didn’t know what it was. I reached my hand to see what was happening under the covers and got another sharp pain."

Farchi was on vacation with his family when he says he discovered a scorpion on his boxers after feeling three or four stings.

"I just felt like somebody stabbing me in my private area," he told KLAS. "It felt like a sharp glass or a knife."

Photos provided by Farchi and his attorney show the small orange creature, though the exact species was not named.

"I didn’t even ask how it got in the room," the victim said. "It was just under my cover."

He reported the incident to Venetian staff, saying he had been "bitten by a scorpion on my groin/testicles" around 8:00 a.m., and that doctors at a local hospital had determined that he had in fact suffered from a scorpion sting.

Farchi’s family cut their stay at the hotel short and checked out the next day.

While KLAS reported that the hotel comped the room, Farchi told KABC that he still had to pay for it.

Now he’s suing the Venetian for an unspecified amount.

"Nobody staying in Vegas needs to [be] exposed to deadly scorpions while they’re sleeping, let alone on their private parts, their testicles," said his attorney, Brian Virag.

Venetian officials said in a statement to KLAS, "The resort has protocols for all incidents and we can confirm they were followed in this incident."

‘Clearly Overlooked This': Probe Finds Strange Communication Devices On Chinese Cranes In US Ports
[DC] A congressional investigation has discovered strange communication equipment on Chinese-built cargo cranes at U.S seaports, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

Rather than building them domestically at potentially higher costs, the U.S. relies heavily on Chinese-built cargo cranes that are relatively cheap to produce and equip at seaports across the country. The congressional probe discovered that several of these cranes, built by Chinese mega-manufacturer ZMPC, contain communications devices that were not requested or don’t appear to support standard operations, heightening existing espionage concerns, according to the WSJ.

U.S. intelligence has warned that Chinese cranes – equipped with an array of sensors and equipment – could be exploited by Beijing, as part of China’s larger effort to disrupt national security through several fronts. Beijing continues to insist the U.S.’ national security concerns about Chinese-built cranes are “entirely paranoia” and constitute “[an abuse of] national power to obstruct normal economic and trade cooperation,” according to the WSJ.

“[Beijing] is looking for every opportunity to collect valuable intelligence and position themselves to exploit vulnerabilities by systematically burrowing into America’s critical infrastructure — including in the maritime sector,” Republican Tennessee Rep. Mark Green, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, told the WSJ. “The United States has clearly overlooked this threat for far too long.”

Some of the devices discovered through the probe included over a dozen cellular modems on crane components at one U.S. port and a modem at a server room at another port, according to the WSJ. It isn’t unusual that such equipment would be found in these ports, as it’s often used to monitor and track operations remotely, but several ports with ZMPC cranes didn’t even ask for that capability.

One port told Congress in December they were aware such modems were installed on cranes but did not know why they were there, according to the WSJ.

“We are unsure who installed the modems, as they were on the cranes when we first saw them in China,” the port told the House Homeland Security Committee in a December letter. The port explained in the letter that the modems were believed to be installed in 2017, around the time the cranes were being built in China before delivery to the U.S.; the modems were removed in October 2023.
“We have found, I would say, openings, vulnerabilities, that are there by design,” Rear Adm. John Vann, leader of the Coast Guard cyber command, told Congress during a Homeland Security Committee hearing in late February, noting that there have not yet been any detections of “malware or Trojan horse-type software.”

“Our ports proactively work with the U.S. Coast Guard, other federal law enforcement, and private sector experts to mitigate risks through inspections and defensive measures,” Cary Davis, CEO of the American Association of Port Authorities, said in a statement on Thursday. “This previous incident is actually a positive case study in cyber defense and domain awareness.”

In a separate letter sent last week, the Homeland Security Committee told ZMPC that the unexplained equipment does not “contribute to the operation of the (ship-to-shore) cranes or maritime infrastructure and is not part of any existing contract between ZPMC and the receiving U.S. maritime port,” according to the WSJ. The letter noted that several of ZMPC’s cranes were built at a base on the Changxing island of Shanghai, adjacent to a Chinese naval shipbuilding yard.

The Homeland Security Committee also told ZMPC it was aware that the company made repeated requests for remote access to cranes and infrastructure at U.S. seaports, according to the WSJ.

The Biden administration announced in February it would invest over $20 billion in the production of domestically built cranes in a bid to move away from Chinese-manufactured versions, citing cybersecurity and espionage concerns. More broadly, U.S. intelligence agencies have raised alarm that China-backed cyber operations are targeting key American infrastructure systems, such as water or energy plants.

ZMPC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

BLS report on employment: Not bad, interesting adjustments

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 275,000 in February, and the unemployment rate increased to 3.9 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today...

In February, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls edged up by 5 cents to $34.57, following an increase of 18 cents in January. ...

In February, the average workweek for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls edged up by 0.1 hour to 34.3 hours, following a decline of 0.2 hour in January.

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for December was revised down by 43,000, from +333,000 to +290,000, and the change for January was revised down by 124,000, from +353,000 to +229,000. With these revisions, employment in December and January combined is 167,000 lower than previously reported.

-------------------
The unemployment rate moved in the opposite direction from the jobs report. That is because the former is based on household survey, the latter on payroll reports. The downward revisions in payroll this month follow 2023 when there were a lot of these. The BLS can only do so much with several states changing laws regarding who is a payroll employee and who is a contractor as well as problems with counting non citizens with work permits.

SOTU: Alabama Senator Katie Britt Brings the Youth and the Fire in Her Rebuttal
[Red State] Alabama Senator Katie Britt delivered the Republican rebuttal to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address. Her youth, passionate defense of motherhood and families, and her personal stories presented a stark contrast to an elderly president who has lived his entire adult life in politics and is barely able to rattle off canned lines from a teleprompter.

Britt made history as the first female senator from Alabama and the youngest Republican woman elected to the Senate. Now she has made history for her response to the State of the Union. Britt set a different tone immediately: doing the rebuttal address from her kitchen table in her own home. Britt related to the audience not as a Senator, but as a fellow American and wife and mom, which supersedes her role as Alabama's junior senator.

Science & Technology
Voyager 1 Sending NASA Bizarre Code As It Leaves The Solar System.
[NP] "I'm not saying it's aliens..."
NASA’s venerable Voyager 1 spacecraft, which has been traversing the distant reaches of our solar system for almost half a century, appears to be encountering severe difficulties and is sending NASA a bizarre, incomprehensible code.

The probe, launched in the summer of 1977, has weathered many challenges — including waning power reserves and software malfunctions. Currently situated some 15 billion miles from Earth and past the broadly defined edge of the solar system, Voyager 1 is now sending puzzling and incoherent messages back to our planet. "It basically stopped talking to us in a coherent manner. It’s a serious problem," stated Voyager project manager Suzanne Dodd.

The Voyager 1 spacecraft, which operates on technology dating back to the mid-1970s, has been transmitting a simple chain of alternating 1s and 0s instead of the usual binary code. Troubleshooting attempts to reboot the probe’s systems have so far been unsuccessful. "The button you press to open the door of your car, that has more compute power than the Voyager spacecrafts do. It’s remarkable that they keep flying, and that they’ve flown for 46-plus years," Dodd told NPR.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab scientists are now engaged in retracing the technical steps taken by Voyager 1’s original developers in the hope of rectifying the issue. This plunge into the probe’s design past coincides with the absence of critical science data since Voyager’s communications first came into question. Measures are also being taken to conserve the spacecraft’s dwindling plutonium-based power supply.

The Voyager spacecraft were not expected to last much more than 50 years. Astronomer Stamatios Krimigis, who worked on the original project, told NPR: "My motto for a long time was 50 years or bust..." before adding, "...but we’re sort of approaching that."

Mexico "Still Hasn't Seen Science" From US Proving Genetically Modified Corn Is Safe
[ZERO] Mexico submitted an official reply to the United States in the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) trade dispute about importing genetically modified (GM) corn. Mexico argued that the herbicide glyphosate in the corn is unsafe for human consumption. Corn plays a vital role in the Mexican diet, particularly as the primary ingredient for tortilla flour.

In a written submission to a USMCA panel, Mexico, the top buyer of US corn, used science to show how GM corn and Glyphosate harm human health. This has given Mexico the authority to ban GM corn for human consumption.

The submission outlined policies aimed at safeguarding consumers against the potential health effects of GM corn, asserting that these measures would have minimal trade impacts on US farmers.

Here are the most critical parts of Mexico's submission (list courtesy of the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (ITAP)):

Colloquially the concern with GM is the ability for crops to absorb formerly fatal doses of Glyphosate while still not killing the plant. Bugs avoid this poison, while govt pushes these poison foods into the food supply.

I am of the demographic that has zero poison resistance, I've seen the science - I am the science, and Glyphosates wreck me. Starting with blisters btwn my fingers until it spreads across my body. Body Blisters, yay, nasty stuff.

COVID-19 May Lead To Persistent Cognitive Impairment, Brain Fog, And Lower IQ Scores
[ZERO] A new study found that COVID-19 infection can cause cognitive deficits that persist for over a year and lower IQ scores in severe cases. Those with persistent symptoms that resolved had small cognitive deficits similar to those with a shorter illness duration.

In a large-scale observational study published on Feb. 29 in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), researchers invited 800,000 people with varying levels of COVID-19 exposure and duration to take an online cognitive assessment and follow-up survey. Cognitive difficulties have been implicated in numerous syndromes following COVID-19, including long COVID, suggesting infection may have lasting effects on the mental processes of the brain.

The study’s authors hypothesized there would be measurable cognitive deficits after COVID-19 that would scale with the severity and duration of the illness. They also speculated that objective impairments in executive and memory function, especially poor memory and brain fog, would be observable in those with persistent symptoms.

Using an assessment tool for cognitive function, researchers estimated global cognitive scores among participants with a history of previous SARS-CoV-2 infection who had symptoms for at least 12 weeks—whether resolved or not—and among a control group of uninfected participants. While cognitive and memory deficits were small for people with mild infection who recovered from COVID-19 quickly, impairments were more pronounced in those with severe disease.
