He totally neglects what SOCOM is almost certainly doing in Iran right now. To put it in perspective, before the Gulf War I air war began, the US and its allies had placed between 20,000 and 30,000 elite ground forces into Iraq and Kuwait. This was before SOCOM in its current form existed, with four to five times less the number of Special Operations personnel we have now.
Right now, Iran is perhaps the #1 "future war" priority at the Pentagon. I could almost guarantee that there are intense, redundant surveys ongoing of anything and everything and everyone connected with their nuclear program. And that this is taking place not just in space, through high altitude recon, but also by ground personnel with very specialized detection and interception equipment.
In addition, teams of agents provacateurs are busily stirring up trouble and making preparations in the northwest Kurdish and Azeri regions, the southwest Arabic regions, the southeast Boloch regions, and in the major cities.
In a sense, we have begun a very hot Cold War with Iran, trying to insure that if war does come about, it ends quickly and decisevely as possible in favor of the US, and that any nuclear materials, missiles, and other WMDs are secured ASAP.
We are all too aware that any attack on Tel Aviv will quite possibly result in a massive nuclear response, and we do not wish this to happen. So it is up to us to create alternatives to this scenario.

IMHO no ballistic nuk will reach Israel over Iraq - that was taken care of first thing. Second is the porous Iranian border allows infiltration as Moose says, along with Iranian agents into Shiite Iraq. Tally the leadership, their corrupt assets and homes and families, and first strike, level them. Iranian people want the same, as long as we don't enter

We must not have a big ground war over Iran. We are talking of decapitating the present leadership, destroying the MMs ability to concentrate U235, and to prevent Pu239 from being made at Bushehr. I would envision covert boots on the ground for specific tasks. Just no big liberation party. That will be up to the Iranian people if the want it. Otherwise they can live in their little theocratic sh*thole.

Did the SEALS really attach target emitters above certain doorposts in Iraq in 1991 (for the missiles), or was that just creative reporting?
A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
