Nevertheless, the point is that nation states with logical rules that restrain behavior in the end are less awful than tribalism. The observation of Adam Smith, that order allows trade therefore allows enrichment without plunder, is perhaps the most astute observation since the Bible.

In ten years or so, perhaps less, the media will be insisting Syria's Assad actually possessed no such weapons. We will learn that 'Red Line' was the result of failed intelligence, and ignoring the 'Red Line' the strategy of a genius.

I've said it before. Assad is just trying to get his swimming pool ready for summer, and sometimes he has to chlorinate until people's eyes water, sometimes as much as 200 miles downwind.
