[AmericanThinker] Sonia Sotomayor, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, raised eyebrows and cast doubt on her fitness for her elevated office during oral arguments over the pending Mississippi abortion case, Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health.

Constitutional scholars were taken aback by her injection of politics:

"Will this institution survive the stench that this creates in the public perception — that the Constitution and its reading are just political acts?" Sotomayor asked. "I don’t see how it is possible."

And her casual rejection of the Constitution as the arbiter of Supreme Court decision-making:

Justice Sonia Sotomayor even said at one point that the Supreme Court comes up with decisions all the time that aren’t directly grounded in the Constitution. This is a line of argument that, if taken seriously, would justify the Supreme Court swinging free of all restraint and rewriting the nation’s laws on the fly.

But for sheer wrong-headedness, you can’t top the "misinformation" (to use a term the progs currently favor when trying to censor) that she spouted on fetal development.

Oregon has had over 5000 fatalities with most coming since Sept 1, 2021. Oregon population 63% currently fully vaxxed, about 70% have had at least one shot.

It should be obvious that being vaxxed reduces your risk of death from covid even though covid vax is not as effective as, say, the mumps vax.

But along the same lines, it should be mentioned that not long ago, the USAF leadership up there in AK complained that the intercept rate was too high, and they couldn't sustain it. When I was at Langley AFB 85-89, I watched the 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron there launch on a regular basis, especially when the Havana Express was running. The idea of USAF officers complaining that the bad guys are pushing us on an unsustainable schedule is infuriating.

Christianity: The #1 Recipient of Hate Crimes
[AmericanThinker] Hate crimes against Christianity and its followers in Europe — formerly and for centuries the guardian and disseminator of Christ's teachings — are at an all-time high. According to a recent report, at least a quarter of all hate crimes registered in Europe in 2020 were anti-Christian in nature — representing a 70-percent increase in comparison to 2019. Christianity is, furthermore, the religion most targeted in hate crimes, with Judaism at a close second.

Worse, the true number of hate crimes against Christians is likely even higher. As the Nov. 16, 2021 report by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) explains (boldface in original):

24 states report data on hate crimes committed due to racism or xenophobia, 20 on LGBT groups, 16 states on anti-Semitism, and 14 on incidents against Muslims, but only 11 countries report data on hate crimes against Christians, and this obviously distorts the statistics significantly. Furthermore, of the 136 civil society organisations that provided descriptive data, only 8 organisations (!) consistently reported incidents against Christians. Both of these findings put the reality of the situation into a different perspective, which indicates that the actual number of hate crimes against Christians is probably way higher. When comparing the numbers of incidents from last year to the number of this year, we can see an increase of almost 70%. What is also striking, is the fact that of the 4,008 descriptive cases [of 2020], 980 are hate crimes against Christians, almost 25%, more than against any other religious group.

Indeed, whereas 980 hate crimes were anti-Christian in nature, 850 were anti-Semitic and only 254 anti-Islamic. But as the report explained, the true numbers are probably significantly higher — for whereas the majority of racial, anti-Islamic, or anti-homosexual attacks are reported as such, a great number of anti-Christian attacks are not. Even so and despite this discrepancy, attacks on Christians are still greater than against any other religious group.

Of course, just as most hate crimes against Christians are not recorded as such, so too are the identities of those most committing these crimes often left out. Moreover, in a climate where the media do everything possible to conceal the identities of Muslim criminals caught red-handed, surely there will not be a peep to suggest that Muslims might be responsible when the evidence is not concrete.

After all, the "news" is all about maintaining the narrative, one that paints Christians as aggressors and anyone and everyone else as victims — Muslims chief among them.

The Persecution of Jeffrey Clark
[HumanEvents] On Wednesday, December 1st, the January 6th Select Committee in the House of Representatives recommended that former Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Clark be held in criminal contempt. The facts, in short, are these: Clark was brought in for a deposition by the committee on November 5th. He appeared with his attorney, who presented the committee with a 12-page legal memorandum explaining that he could not testify or produce documents due to the need to assert executive privilege and other privileges.

The committee, chaired by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), rejected outright Mr. Clark’s claims of privilege. Now, despite extensive legal correspondence from Clark’s lawyer, and a promise that Clark would come in for a deposition to invoke the Fifth Amendment this weekend, the committee decided to push for Clark to be held in criminal contempt.

Contrary to what legal analysts on MSNBC might suggest, Clark is the victim of a particularly pernicious legal witch hunt. The January 6th Committee should drop its contempt recommendation and cease its lawless harassment of Clark. If it will not, the members of that committee must face consequences if and when Republicans take back the House in 2022.

Mike Pence aide sells out Trump world to January 6th Committee
[Republic Brief] From the very beginning it’s been clear to us that the January 6th Committee started off by subpoenaing Steve Bannon, knowing he wouldn’t cooperate because he has too many other legal problems going on, so it could make an example out of him by having him indicted and arrested for contempt. The point was to scare other, more skittish witnesses into cooperating, for fear of also ending up indicted.

We’re not surprised that Mark Meadows has been flip flopping back and forth between cooperating and not cooperating, both because he’s a Trump loyalist and because he’s under criminal investigation for election tampering in Georgia. But what about key witnesses who have no such loyalty to Trump, and who have no existing criminal liability? We predicted from the start that it would be these types who would end up cooperating with the committee.

Sure enough, CNN is now reporting that Mike Pence’s former Chief of Staff Marc Short has been secretly cooperating with the January 6th Committee for a few weeks. It’s the length of time that matters here, because if Short’s cooperation were insufficient or incomplete, the committee would have begun contempt proceedings against him by now. The fact that Short’s cooperation has lasted for weeks means that it must be the real deal. Moreover,

The secrecy is also notable. If Marc Short has been secretly cooperating all this time, which other key witnesses have also been secretly cooperating? Witnesses who have no underlying criminal liability, and can walk away scot-free just by fully cooperating with the committee, are going to be inclined to do so. Short’s cooperation is proof of this. There will be more such cooperating witnesses.

The timing of this reveal is also notable. Presumably, only the 1/6 Committee members themselves knew that Short was cooperating with them. This means the committee itself was most likely the source of today’s leak. This in turn means that the committee has now decided that it wants other witnesses to know that Short has been in there giving up the goods against them, thus leaving them with little option but to also cooperate. This is all escalating quickly now — and it’s becoming clear that the committee has been a few steps ahead of the public all along.

Why The Red Wave Could Become A Red Puddle
[AmericanThinker] Rep. Kevin McCarthy is measuring drapes for the speaker’s office, expecting to move in after the 2022 election. Hey Kev, leadership is keeping your caucus together so as not to hand Democrats big wins (i.e., the $1.2 trillion non-infrastructure bill). Leadership also is not voting with Democrats on bills that invade Americans’ medical privacy (i.e., the Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act).

McCarthy exemplifies the big divide between the "America First" MAGA base and Establishment Republicans. This is why an expected Red Wave has the potential to turn into a Red Puddle.

The latest and most problematic divide between the MAGA base and the establishment is how Republican organizations and elected officials are going head over heels (pun intended) for transgenders. What better way to turn a potentially historic 2022 red wave into a puddle than having millions of fed-up Republicans sit home on election day (or week or month)?

Less than four short years ago, Republic National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel sided with President Donald Trump on his order to bar transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. military. The RNC even passed a resolution at its February 2018 winter meeting referring to transgenders as having a "disqualifying psychological and physical" condition.

Now the same RNC chairwoman welcomes those same people with "disqualifying psychological and physical" conditions to join the Republican party. In November, the organization announced it was starting a Pride Coalition in partnership with the Log Cabin Republicans.

How about the RNC putting the same effort into investigating and litigating the 2020 presidential election fraud or the dangerous January 6 witch hunt? MAGAs demand answers before the next election! Nah, the RNC is too busy building its Pride Coalition.

The RNC is mistaken to think that it is possible to be fiscally or politically conservative without, on some level, being culturally conservative first. You can’t have limited government while at the same time embracing a movement wishing to deconstruct and redefine marriage and the family since only the family reliably produces citizens able to govern themselves.

The Family Policy Institute of Washington was one of many conservative organizations that disagreed with McDaniel’s announcement. In an editorial entitled, "RNIC’s ’Pride Coalition’ Betrays Christians and Families" —

We have no issues with LGBT Republicans (who represent somewhere near 1% of the Republican base) in joining the party and working on issues we hold in common. There are many I appreciate working with. However, we strongly oppose partnerships supporting LGBT groups who advocate for the LGBT movement’s policies on marriage and gender. These policies directly oppose the Christian policy agenda on family, marriage, children, and life. This is a sharp departure from the biblical values that the party often claims to uphold, as the LGBT movement’s agenda is antithetical to many issues the party claims to stand for.

How about the RNC putting the same effort into investigating and litigating the 2020 presidential election fraud or the dangerous January 6 witch hunt? MAGAs demand answers before the next election! Nah, the RNC is too busy building its Pride Coalition.

Politically speaking, this guy gives me the impression he's Paul Ryan's younger brother. The only thing positive about this guy becoming Speaker is that the Democrats won't be in charge, passing multi-trillion dollar spending bills larded up with lefty wet dreams. When 2024 rolls around it'll be little better than 2016 redux.
