#2  We need a movie about Hunter Biden. I understand the problems of producing such a movie in today's Hollywood but somebody, somewhere needs to do it. Not a gloss over, sanitized movie but no-holds-barred, down and dirty and real. It doesn't have to be X-rated, R-rated will do, but the danger to our national security must be made clear. Hell, it was done with John Profumo and Hunter makes him look like a Boy Scout. Producers who are reluctant to do so should think of the profit. Sigh. I guess we might have to wait a few years.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Newsletter Morning Edition: Project Veritas drops the other shoe
[MikeHuckabee] Project Veritas seldom releases just one hidden camera expose. They usually put out part one, wait for the subject to try to spin or deny it, then lower the boom by dropping the next one. Last week, they released undercover video of alleged Pfizer research director Jordon Trishton Walker saying some explosive things, like that the COVID vaccine was a cash cow for the company, that they weren’t subject to strict regulation because officials leave the FDA to work for Pfizer, and most shocking, that Pfizer was developing new strains of COVID to stay ahead of the vaccine needs.

After a couple of days, Pfizer issued a statement denying the claims, but it was confusing enough that it didn’t stop the questions.

Now, Project Veritas has dropped the other shoe, releasing more alleged undercover video of Walker. This time, he is shown admitting that “there is something irregular about the menstrual cycles” of some women who’ve gotten the vaccine, and it “shouldn’t be interfering with that. So we don’t really know.” He later added, “I hope we don’t find out that somehow this mRNA lingers in the body and like -- because it has to be affecting something hormonal to impact menstrual cycles. I hope we don’t discover something really bad down the line…”

Related: Project Veritas video can be watched here.

Economy
The Fed Can Stop Choking the Economy Now
[Intelligencer] The Federal Reserve has now raised its benchmark interest rate from near zero to above 4.5 percent in the space of a year. That represents the most rapid spree of monetary tightening in U.S. history. It is past time for the central bank to take a breather.

In recent weeks, a growing array of evidence has indicated that inflation is firmly on a downward path. At this point, the imperative to avert an unnecessary recession must take precedence over minimizing inflationary risk.

My argument for that assessment has two parts. The first is a matter of data, the second of values.

The consumer price index (CPI) declined by 0.1 percent between November and December. On a year-over-year basis, inflation remained at the elevated perch of 6.5 percent. But as Paul Krugman argues, for discerning the future path of inflation, it may be better to look at the rate of price growth over a six-month period. That interval eliminates the "noise" (i.e., semi-random variations) that can influence month-to-month changes while still cleaving relatively current trends from outdated ones. And if you take the trend of price growth over the past six months, then annualize it, inflation appears to already be on its way back to the Fed’s 2 percent target.

#1  Maybe. The recent inflation news has been encouraging for a few months; but, then, in 1975 we also thought we had inflation licked.

The Fed has been tightening for some time; but we should view this against the backdrop of the $3 trillion they threw into the economy in 2020 (Fed Reserve Recent Trends)

They have just barely begun to sop this infusion of cash up. And the amount of money still in circulation from it renders the current tightening maybe too little, too late. Since we've never had an avalance of cash like this before, we are in uncharted waters. And I'll say no one really understands what's going on, including the Fed.

#1  Mar-A-Lago Raid Update: Fed’s caught retroactively reclassifying material Trump lawfully declassified as President in attempt to frame Trump, all the while knowing that Biden had been criminally selling top U.S. secrets for big bucks to foreign interests for decades.

Home Front: WoT
Another Jihadi Caught in New Jersey: ‘God I Am Ready for Your Orders. Blood, Blood, Destruction, Destruction. Allah.’
[PJMedia] Does a Saudi national count as a "white supremacist"? On Monday, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced that Bader Alzahrani, a Saudi national who is in the United States on a student visa, has been charged with stealing a school bus and transporting it across state lines. But this is more than just a vehicle theft: Alzahrani made a number of statements suggesting that he’s a jihad terrorist. But since Saudis are generally considered "white," will the feds call this "white supremacist terrorism"? Don’t put it past them.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey last Thursday, Alzahrani "knowingly and intentionally received, possessed, concealed, stored, and disposed of a motor vehicle, namely a 2020 Chevrolet School Bus." Alzahrani is accused of stealing the bus in Essex County, N.J., and driving it into Pennsylvania, where he lives.

Far more ominously, however, an unoccupied residential home across the street from the parking lot from which the bus was stolen was broken into. A backpack was found in the broken-into house, containing Alzahrani’s Saudi passport and a number of "other items that appeared to belong to Alzahrani." Among these items were journals that contained entries in both English and Arabic. The entries were hair-raising.

India-Pakistan
Frontline Peshawar
[Dawn] PESHAWAR bleeds once again. The brutal slaughter of more than 100 innocents by unidentified killers is another galling reminder that very little changes in the land of the pure. The response of Pak officialdom was predictable, both government and opposition heaping blame on each other. Many major political figures and state institutions did not even issue statements of condemnation.

It has now been over seven years since the APS attack, an unprecedented tragedy which triggered resounding cries of ’No more!’. But the people of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire...
remain on the frontline of a grisly, violent mostly peaceful conflict in which even the principal antagonists remain nebulous.

Israel’s strategic assessment
The conventional wisdom of the anti-Bibi deep state.
[AlAhram] A new report from think tank the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies identifies external and internal threats to Israel’s security.

A team of experts in regional and international political and military affairs at the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), which is affiliated with Tel Aviv University, has completed this year’s Strategic Assessment of Israel.

As the INSS is one of closest think tanks to decision making circles in Israel, it is not surprising that this important Strategic Assessment was submitted to Israeli President Isaac Herzog in a formal ceremony at his office.

Protect your privacy: A guide to avoiding drone surveillance
[FoxNews] It's difficult to learn who owns a drone; some have their registration numbers visible, usually in case the owner loses sight of it.

The Texas Department of Public Safety say criminal organizations have increasingly turned to using drones to scout out areas for illegal immigration.

I share a ton of tips to protect your privacy online. Do this quick 30-second check to keep your Google and Facebook accounts safe if you haven’t yet.

What about when you leave your home? Just about everywhere you go, you’re being watched.

Not all cameras are out in the open, either. I once found more than a dozen cameras in an Airbnb I rented. Here are my best tips for spotting hidden cams in a rental, new apartment, home, or hotel room. But now we have drones to deal with.

I SPY WITH MY EYE A DRONE IN THE SKY
The other day, I heard a familiar buzz while swimming in my backyard pool. Sure enough, a drone hovered overhead and quickly vanished when I shooed it away with my hand. That’s how I got the idea for this post.

The legality of drone surveillance varies by country and state, but if the drone is flying on your private property and recording you without your consent, call the police. It’s a violation of your privacy.

It's difficult to learn who owns a drone. In my case, it flew out of my eyesight in seconds. Had my iPhone been within reach, I would have taken a photo of the drone. Some drones have their registration numbers visible, usually in case the owner loses sight of it.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) maintains a database of drone owners who have registered their drones with the FAA. To search the FAA drone owner database, you need the drone's registration number. Here’s where to search the FAA drone owner database.

THE THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DO TO A DRONE
There are effective, perfectly legal ways to avoid surveillance. There are also a few ways that are illegal for private citizens.

The Federal Aviation Administration legally protects drones from being:

  • Shot at: Firing a gun into the sky is dangerous and illegal. Just don’t do it.

  • Interfered physically: This includes lasers and other objects.

  • Disabled or otherwise tampered with: Using a jammer and hacking are criminal acts.

There are other things you might be doing that break the law. Scan this list.

Now we have that out of the way, here’s what you can do.

CARRY AN UMBRELLA
It might feel cumbersome, but an umbrella is a cheap and practical way to protect your privacy. In rainy or extra sunny weather, it’s a no-brainer. You might get some strange looks, but who cares?

Get one now while you’re thinking of it. This tiny umbrella is as big as a cell phone, so you could keep it in your pocket. This one is bigger but will hold up better in wind and rain.

There are tech products to protect your data and privacy in many ways. Tap or click for eight picks that can do everything from mute your mic to protect your credit cards.

USE YOUR SURROUNDINGS AS COVER
Own a drone or know someone who does? I bet you’ve had to deal with someone throwing something at it. That is not the right way to avoid drones.

You should take a more passive approach. In bad weather — heavy rain, fog, and wind — drones have difficulty flying or getting great footage. Score for you.

When it’s sunny and you see a drone buzzing overhead, find a place it’s less likely to spot you. Trees, alcoves, awnings, and tunnels are all excellent places to tuck away while the drone passes.

Use this free tool to find out if the police have your face saved to their database.

WEAR AN INVISIBILITY CLOAK
Get this: Researchers at the University of Maryland found that patterned sweaters can thwart AI systems.

These sweaters use the same images engineers use to train AI systems to recognize objects. Wear one, and instead of seeing you as a person, the system might interpret you as an animal, like a giraffe.

Fashion brands are catching on. Italian startup Cap_able sells clothes with these patterns that confuse facial recognition software, also known as "adversarial patches."

Be warned, though: These garments are pricey. A hoodie will set you back about $450. Like all new inventions, you can expect the price to decrease if these catch on.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Effects Of Syrian War In Figures
[NPASyria] The fourth joint report compiled by the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs and Population and United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Population Fund (UNFPA), titled ’Return and Stability’, sheds light on the drastic changes Syrians have been exposed to since the beginning of the war in March 2011.

POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT
According to the report, 75-80 percent of the population lives below the poverty line, though it varies across governorates. Aleppo and Idlib were reported as the most depopulated governorates, while Damascus, Tartus, Latakia and Suwayda were the most populated ones.

An estimated 8 percent lived in destitute poverty in 2014, with Daraa Hasakah, Qunaitra, Hama, Raqqa Rif Dimashq and Idlib topping the table.

Displacement was a factor contributing to heightened poverty levels, according to the report. It shows a rift in food insecurity between governorates in the east and north of the country (Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Idlib and Aleppo) and those in the southwest, like Suwayda, Damascus, Tartus and Latakia, where lower rates were recorded.

Salaries decreased by 6 percent between 2011 and 2019. GDP per capita is a tenth of what it was in 2010.

Unemployment rates witnessed a 31 percent increase in 2019, owing to damage to the agricultural and commercial spheres, caused by the destruction and looting of factories, as well as the loss of large swathes of land, which remain uncultivated.

TYPES OF DISPLACEMENT
In 2019, there were 8.5 million Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). A cessation of war did not change this figure, as the deteriorated economic conditions were always the larger contributing factor. Rising poverty rates, a widening gap between income and prices, and unemployment were all factors pushing Syrians to leave their homes.

The number of Syrians who have left the country over the course of the war exceeds 3 million, mostly young men aged 15-34. An additional half a million of non-Syrians living in the country also fled.

The report shows that displacement has caused considerable increases in populated areas. Before the war, around 44 percent of the population lived in Damascus, Rif Dimashq and Aleppo governorates — or almost 20 percent of the land. On the other hand, only 17 percent of the population lived in the Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah governorates, which make up about 41 percent of Syria. Tartus and Latakia, just nearly 2 percent of Syria’s surface area, were home to about 9 percent of the population in 2010.

25 PERCENT STILL IN ORIGINAL HOMES
Over the course of the war, significant migrations have taken place in Syria. Initial figures suggest a third of the population was displaced from their homes.

It estimated that only a quarter of Syria’s population (nearly 5 million people) continues to live in their homes today. Movement on such an abnormal scale is expected to have a long-term impact.

Damage to facilities which are vital for the people to return to their areas will take years to rebuild.

The report noted that many Syrians today remain unmarried. Tartus, Daraa, Hama and Aleppo took the lead. This is due to the current economic crisis which makes marriage very costly.

The report recorded high rates of maternal and child deaths due to absence of medical staff. Early marriages were also estimated at 24 percent, with Aleppo, Daraa and Rif Dimashq recording the highest rates. Tartus, Lattakia, Suwayda and Homs had a rate of 18 percent.

The report also surveyed the state of the education and health arenas. The first recorded a 1-5 percent reduction in gross domestic product, while the latter showed a half percent reduction over the years of war. Around 29 percent of schools were destroyed either partially or completely.

School dropouts, child labor and early marriages, which were set to vanish prior to the crisis, increased considerably.

Fertility and marriage rates are expected to lower owing to many factors, notably instability and youth migration. It is likely to affect Syria’s future population growth.
