Breaking News on the Burg, NIU gunman Steven Kazmierczak Taunted on YouTube?
For news sake I googled Steve Kazmierczak's name and ran it through a video search. Two hits showed up. Both has Kazmierczak's name with some pretty odd titles. Both posted by the same user, shrubhuntertran13578

The titles seemed to be pointed:

My Very First Poop
2 min - Feb 7, 2008
First Poop...The first of many poops to come...New Zelda Poop Good Funny Awesome Youtube Link Steven Kazmierczak

and

Fat Kid Falls off of Diving Board
21 sec - Feb 8, 2008 - (1 rating)
Diving Board...Chemically-Unstable Fat Kid...Diving Board Fat Kid Funny Explosion Cool Stupid Falls Off Ass Nerd Crazy Steven Kazmierczak

The phrase, "chemically unstable" sent a chill up my spine. Just minutes ago someone on the radio had mention that Kazmierczak seemed to have targeted certain groups in one area. What he being web harassed and snapped?

Apparently the youtube poster didn't go down in the shooting because at the time of this post submission, shrubhunter had just logged off.

#1  Unlikely these vids have anything to do with the shooter. Article and photo here:
The gunman who shot and killed five people at Northern Illinois University before turning the gun on himself had recently become erratic after stopping his medication, authorities said.
...
"He had stopped taking medication and become somewhat erratic in the last couple of weeks," Campus Police Chief Donald Grady said, declining to name the drug or provide other details.

#2  Apparently, he was just a sick boy who quit taking his meds. I guess the gun-free-zone declaration didn't dissuade him. Go figure. We were assured it would

#3  No I'm going with the taunting off his meds. If you read some of shrubhunter's other posts you could surmise that he's the kind of punk that would go after someone who was mentally ill. Plus Kazmierczak's name is specific and shrub took down one of his names on a vid.

Something fishy. Pretty sure there is a link, maybe after the fact...

#2  I did not know of the existence of "auction-rate securities" until this article was published. Even though they have been in use for many years, they were bombs waiting to go off, and definitely not a low-risk investment for anyone except wishful thinkers. I wonder how many other economic IEDs and cunningly planned financial scams are waiting to bite back.

New York Times to Cut 100 News Room Jobs
The New York Slimes is cutting 100 jobs from its newsroom this year as financial pressures mount from readers leaving the rag in droves.

Executive Editor and part time bottle washer Bill Keller told his minions that the cuts would come mainly through attrition and buyouts but layoffs and backstabbings were also possible.

Spokeswomen Catherine Mathis said the paper has a total of 1,332 indentured slaves in the newsroom, which would make the cutbacks equivalent to nearly 8% of the editorial staff. Half of which are normally at Hazelden anyway.

The Times has cut jobs elsewhere in the paper. Mostly in the fact checking department. But these cuts are the first and hopefully not the last in recent memory to affect its newsroom and DNC brothel.

Mayor's aide files police complaint after threat
The civility and decorum that is Detroit local politics is here revealed in all its glory

An aide to Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick filed a police report Thursday claiming Monica Conyers, the short-tempered City Council president pro tem and wife of U.S. Rep. John Conyers, threatened to get a gun and shoot him at a city pension board meeting. But a spokesman for Conyers says she was the real victim in the hubbub.

According to the police report filed Thursday by DeDan Milton, an assistant to Kilpatrick, Conyers "threatened to shoot (Milton) with her gun" and made "several aggressive movements" toward Milton "in a threatening manner." Milton also reported to police that Conyers said she would "have my brothers (mess) you up."

David Clark, chair of Detroit's General Retirement System, backed up Milton's account.

"She ran at him," Clark told The Detroit News. "She told him she would get a gun if she had to and that she has four brothers and they would whoop his a-- if she asked them." . . . Sam Riddle, Conyers' chief of staff, said Milton was the one who had to be restrained. Riddle, who said he witnessed the squabble, said Milton started it by telling Conyers to shut up -- and used an expletive.

Late Thursday, Conyers filed a police report of her own, accusing Milton of being the perpetrator.

Milton declined to be interviewed, and Riddle said Conyers didn't want to talk about the confrontation.

Riddle said he is recommending that Conyers, as the wife of a congressman, seek protection from the U.S. Marshals Service.
"We don't know who we can trust in the city of Detroit," Riddle said.
I'd say that's the one unquestionably true statement in all of this.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
80-year-old WWII Vet/Firefighter puts attacker in hospital
Investigators say they were definitely going to rob him - possibly even kill him. But an 80-year-old North Texan wasn't about to let that happen, so he took action. One of the suspects is in the hospital and both are facing charges.

Two men obviously thought James Pickett, 80, was an easy target when they showed up at his home on Saturday with a knife. "He just came through that door, stabbing and beating," said Pickett.

Captain Clint Pullin said it looked as though the men wanted to kill him. But before you worry too much about Pickett, learn a bit more about him. He's a WWII veteran, former firefighter and lifelong John Wayne devotee. In short, even at 80, he is someone you just don't mess with.
And he's from Texas.
What the men didn't know is Picket had taken a pistol and put it in his pocket before opening the door. "He jumped and turned and I shot him," Picket said.

The two brothers, Paul and Holden Perry, ran but didn't get far before calling an ambulance. A bullet just missed Paul Perry's spine.

"The only problem was I run out of bullets," Picket said.

A neighbor describes Picket as a "hero."

Worried about retribution, friends are sticking close.

Both brothers face assault, burglary and robbery charges. Deputies assure James Pickett they aren't likely to get out of jail anytime soon but he isn't worried. "I think I'm a ten times better shot than and he is... But they best not come back," he said.

Britain
Gurkha restaurant told it cannot fly the flag
More evidence on the wussification of Britain. This is sad, and an outrage.
A former Gurkha has been banned from flying the regiment's flag from his Nepalese restaurant, but he has been told he can hoist the colours of the European Union.

Asbahadur Gurung, whose family served in the Army for 70 years, wanted to display his former regiment's colours above his restaurant, called The Gurkha.

Council officials said the green and white flag was a form of advertising and refused him permission. But they advised him that he did not need permission to run up the flag of any country, the UN or the EU.
Fly the EU flag with pride and patriotism, or whatever.....
The decision has angered Mr Gurung, whose father Mambahadur fought in the Battle of Kohima in Burma in the Second World War. "I was proud to serve the British Army for 28 years as was my father before me," he said. "We know the British people have a great respect for the Gurkhas and we thought a lot of people would appreciate the regiment flag."
A bit of history would do a bit of good.
Mr Gurung, 70, spent 28 years in the Queen's Gurkha Signals, eventually reaching the rank of captain.

He added: "Our restaurant is called The Gurkha so we thought it would be quite appropriate to fly our flag. I don't understand what the problem is. It is not very good. I don't want to fly another flag or the EU flag - I didn't fight for the EU."
Damn right, since nobody has fought and died for ye olde EU.
Gurkhas are recruited from Nepal and have fought alongside British soldiers for almost 200 years and are renowned for their bravery.
And they are 100X the men the wussies of the town council are.
Mr Gurung fought in the Malaya Emergency against a communist uprising in the 1950s and the Indonesian Confrontation in Brunei in the 1960s.

He went on to become a commanding officer, serving in Hong Kong, and left the Army with an exemplary record.

On becoming a civilian, he managed a Nepalese restaurant in Hong Kong before migrating to Britain in 1993.

He opened The Gurkha in Wareham, Dorset, last year and sought permission from Purbeck District Council to fly his regimental flag.

He had hoped to erect two 15ft flag poles and unfurl the Union Flag on one and, on the other, the Gurkha flag with its green background and two white crossed kukris - the curved weapon and general all-purpose tool of Nepal.

The local parish council had no problem with the flags and there were no complaints from local residents. But Purbeck council viewed the Gurkha flag as a form of advertising and refused permission for it to be displayed. They also thought it could distract passing motorists.
How bout a flag with a bowl of porridge and crossed spoons? Would that be OK?
Alan Davies, the council's principal planning officer, said: "The government regulations state you can fly the flag of any country without permission but the Gurkha flag is not the flag of a country and therefore it needs permission.
Jeeze Louise, spare me from these idiots.
"There is already a plethora of advertising signs on the site of the restaurant. We are not opposed to the restaurant, indeed a lot of staff have been there before and it is excellent."

India-Pakistan
Kashmiri women raid restaurants on Valentine's Day
A Kashmiri Muslim women’s group raided restaurants on Thursday to prevent young Muslim couples from meeting on Valentine’s Day, an event it denounced as “anti-Islamic”.

“We have formed a number of squads to educate young couples that Valentine’s Day is a Western conspiracy to involve Muslims in vulgar activities,” said Nahida, a member of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, or Daughters of Faith, as she took part in a swoop on a restaurant in Srinagar. The women’s group, all covered from head-to-toe, did not encounter any resistance as couples patiently listened to them and left restaurants.

Nahida said such “peaceful raids” were being conducted across Srinagar. “Thanks to Allah, no one sold Valentine’s Day cards in Srinagar this year,” she said.

Last year dozens of activists marched through Srinagar and burnt Valentine’s Day cards. “As long as everything passes off peacefully we will not intervene, but if they (women activists) use force, we will act,” said police officer Pervez Ahmed.

Olde Tyme Religion
In John They Trust (Happy John Frum Day)
This is February 15, John Frum Day

In the morning heat on a tropical island halfway across the world from the United States, several dark-skinned men—clad in what look to be U.S. Army uniforms—appear on a mound overlooking a bamboo-hut village. One reverently carries Old Glory, precisely folded to reveal only the stars. On the command of a bearded “drill sergeant,” the flag is raised on a pole hacked from a tall tree trunk. As the huge banner billows in the wind, hundreds of watching villagers clap and cheer.

Chief Isaac Wan, a slight, bearded man in a blue suit and ceremonial sash, leads the uniformed men down to open ground in the middle of the village. Some 40 barefoot "G.I.’s" suddenly emerge from behind the huts to more cheering, marching in perfect step and ranks of two past Chief Isaac. They tote bamboo “rifles” on their shoulders, the scarlet tips sharpened to represent bloody bayonets, and sport the letters “USA,” painted in red on their bare chests and backs.

This is February 15, John Frum Day, on the remote island of Tanna in the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu. On this holiest of days, devotees have descended on the village of Lamakara from all over the island to honor a ghostly American messiah, John Frum. “John promised he’ll bring planeloads and shiploads of cargo to us from America if we pray to him,” a village elder tells me as he salutes the Stars and Stripes. “Radios, TVs, trucks, boats, watches, iceboxes, medicine, Coca-Cola and many other wonderful things.”

The island’s John Frum movement is a classic example of what anthropologists have called a “cargo cult”—many of which sprang up in villages in the South Pacific during World War II, when hundreds of thousands of American troops poured into the islands from the skies and seas. As anthropologist Kirk Huffman, who spent 17 years in Vanuatu, explains: “You get cargo cults when the outside world, with all its material wealth, suddenly descends on remote, indigenous tribes.” The locals don’t know where the foreigners’ endless supplies come from and so suspect they were summoned by magic, sent from the spirit world. To entice the Americans back after the war, islanders throughout the region constructed piers and carved airstrips from their fields. They prayed for ships and planes to once again come out of nowhere, bearing all kinds of treasures: jeeps and washing machines, radios and motorcycles, canned meat and candy.

But the venerated Americans never came back, except as a dribble of tourists and veterans eager to revisit the faraway islands where they went to war in their youth. And although almost all the cargo cults have disappeared over the decades, the John Frum movement has endured, based on the worship of an American god no sober man has ever seen.

Many Americans know Vanuatu from the reality TV series “Survivor,” though the episodes shot there hardly touched on the Melanesian island nation’s spectacular natural wonders and fascinating, age-old cultures. Set between Fiji and New Guinea, Vanuatu is a Y-shaped scattering of more than 80 islands, several of which include active volcanoes. The islands were once home to fierce warriors, among them cannibals. Many inhabitants still revere village sorcerers, who use spirit-possessed stones in magic rituals that can lure a new lover, fatten a pig or kill an enemy.

Americans with longer memories remember Vanuatu as the New Hebrides—its name until its independence from joint British and French colonial rule in 1980. James Michener’s book Tales of the South Pacific, which spawned the musical South Pacific, grew out of his experiences as an American sailor in the New Hebrides in World War II.

My own South Pacific experience, in search of John Frum and his devotees, begins when I board a small plane in Vanuatu’s capital, Port-Vila. Forty minutes later, coral reefs, sandy beaches and green hills announce Tanna Island, about 20 miles long and 16 miles at its widest point, with a population of around 28,000. Climbing into an ancient jeep for the drive to Lamakara, which overlooks Sulphur Bay, I wait while Jessel Niavia, the driver, starts the vehicle by touching together two wires sticking out from a hole under the dashboard.

Did they get a hold of the DNC 1948 1952 1956 1960 1964 1968 1972 1976 1980 1984 1988 1992 1996 2000 2004 2008 talking points?

#2  Behold, the POWER OF SPAM???

On a serious note, this illustrates the mostly benevolent, positive feelings many Pacific Islanders have for the USA-Allies as per WW2.

#4  Send these guys some cargo. Heck fire....they have kept the faith all these years. Load up the C-130s and let's show them a good show. No AK-47s, though. They need some M-1s. Bamboo rifles just do not cut it. 100 tons for Johnnie!

#1  Well, it's a lot more effective than asking the crowd of youts blocking your fish and chip shop entrance and surviving the encounter.

#2  Well, there's always the thought of hiring certain youngsters with clubs to ensure that other ones do not linger. If the police bother to show up, the ones with clubs all claim to be muslims. Heck, the way the UK is going, they could just stack the bodies in an alley and the police would do nothing so as not to 'offend'.

Have I mentioned how great the UK is lately? They like to call us the lawless wild west, but we still enforce some of our laws at least.
