A Seattle man who hired an escort to "have fun" told police that she stole $170 from him after she went to her car to fetch some condoms. Maybe she just got lost on the way back...
The man, who is in his 50s and lives on Whitman Avenue North near Lake Union, had called the escort after spotting an advertisement in the Feb. 21 edition of The Stranger, a police report filed Thursday said. It was her honest face that attracted me.
The woman arrived at his apartment late last month for the rendezvous. He agreed to pay her $150 to "have fun" and $20 to cover her gas."At some point into the fun," the woman asked the man whether he had condoms, according to the report. You mean...I'm not your first?
Upon hearing that he did not, she said she would get some from her car. I'll be right back, honey. You wait right here...
As the man waited for her to return, he looked out his window and realized the escort was driving away in a silver car. Awwwwww. But maybe she's going to the store to buy some...
Since that night, he has called her "numerous times" to get his money back. "But she has not answered or returned his calls," the report said. It sounds like...the thrill is gone.
The man even called The Stranger to inform the newspaper of what happened. Hey, Scoops...dissatisfied customer on line 3. I think he skipped his Mensa meeting to call.
The police officer who took the report told the man it is against the law in Seattle and the state of Washington to pay someone for sex. But what about "having fun"?
But the man wanted to file a police report in case the woman "was doing this to more of her customers." Oh, no. I'm sure she has a heart of gold. Just like in all the movies...

A few pointers to the management of such a club.
Buy off the police. If they won't be bought, then surround the club with a community hostile to the police, where a call of "Hey, Rube!", or the equivalent will quickly assemble an armed mob to attack them.
If the police can be bought, then periodically arrange for them to raid the establishment and find nothing incriminating, and maybe something mildly embarrassing, like a meeting of "The elderly ladies' knitting and patriotic society".
If the police can be bought, make sure they are bought from the top down, to keep low level cops from getting greedy. Older girls should be encouraged to marry police officers, and often they make good couples.
Support for the major, non-fanatical political factions should be proportional to their representation. And the fanatical factions should be held at bay with blackmail of their leaders.
Some government bureaucrats are also good to have as patrons.

A few years ago, I came up with an Internet business model for a legal celebrity brothel in Nevada.
The idea is that, as far as most celebrities are concerned, if they aren't performing, they aren't eating.
First you create a website with a huge listing of celebrities. Then, for a small subscription fee, ordinary people can set up something like a private MySpace page, including a photo and personal details. Once they do so, they submit a list of 10 celebrities and how much they would pay to have s*x with them.
Celebrities would have a rating, based on how many people want to have s*x with them. Of course, many of them wouldn't want to have s*x with a stranger, but that doesn't matter.
Then, if a celebrity subscribed to the website, they could find out who their "fans" were, and how much they were willing to pay. There would need to be extra verification to insure the celebrity is who they say they are.
And only then, if they were interested, would the website receive a payment, and deposit the fan's money in escrow, not including the non-refundable price of first class round-trip airfare to Nevada for the celebrity, and the two arrange a meeting at a prearranged private place.
At the meeting, either can still back out less the price of airfare for the celebrity. But if they agree to have s*x, then the celebrity is paid for services rendered.
The only potential problem is that the State of Nevada licenses its prostitutes, so there would need to be a tweak in the law to allow one-shot hookups. This may be unnecessary, as the two would be meeting as private individuals, with the transaction elsewhere. Thus it could be in a nice hotel instead of a brothel.
Being egomaniacs, a lot of celebrities would do anything to get to the top of the list of "most desirable", and if they wanted to pay to set up a lot of fake MySpace pages with themselves at #1, they would be free to do so.
Of course, some of the more moral ones would demand that their names be removed from the site, but no need to do so, as it really isn't about *them*, but their fans.
One of the few rules would be that individuals would be banned if they offered money and weren't willing to put it in escrow. Otherwise, it would offer two-way privacy and a great opportunity to demonstrate fan appreciation.
If a celebrity backed out and just took the money, their fans would be advised that they were a rip off, which would probably ruin their desirability rating.
Australian archaeologists believe they have found the grave of the country's legendary outlaw, Ned Kelly, on the site of an abandoned prison.
Kelly, immortalized for using home-made armor in a final shoot-out with police, became a folk hero of Australia's colonial past with his gang's daring bank robberies and escapes. The son of an Irish convict, Kelly was hanged for his crimes in 1880 and buried in a mass grave at a prison in the southern city of Melbourne in Victoria state. The whereabouts of his body had remained as elusive as Kelly was in real life.
Archaeologists who have been digging at the site of the former Pentridge prison unearthed a mass grave where historical records suggested the remains of Kelly and other executed prisoners were buried after being removed from the old Melbourne Gaol when it closed in 1929.
"We believe we have conclusively found the burial site, but that is very different from finding the remains," Jeremy Smith, senior archaeologist with Heritage Victoria, told Reuters on Sunday. "If the remains exist, then we will have found them."
He said the grave contained 32 bodies in rows of coffins in various states of decomposition. The bodies are incomplete and will now be subject to forensic tests. Smith said it would be a struggle to prove conclusively that any of the remains were Kelly's, particularly from single bones. He said the bones had been roughly treated in the 1929 move and some may have been taken for souvenirs.

It's not necessarily a CofE thing. I had a high school girlfriend (both she and her sister were adopted) whose mother for some reason told her that she was still a virgin after something like 25 years of marriage. Church-going Catholics, both of them.
