Moron Alert: Mayor New Orleans fails to cancel Mardi Grax, blames Trump
[Bus Insider] The mayor of New Orleans appeared to blame President Donald Trump's administration for her decision not to cancel this year's Mardi Gras celebrations in the city, which led to a spike in coronavirus cases in Louisiana state and turned it into one of the virus' hot zones in the US.

Though New York state remains the epicenter of the outbreak, Orleans Parish currently has the most cases per capita in the entire country by a longshot, according to NOLA.com. As of Friday, there were more than 2,300 cases in the state of Louisiana, and 83 people had died.

In a Thursday interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Mayor LaToya Cantrell explained that the city's Mardi Gras planning happens year-round and in close coordination with the federal government. This year's Mardi Gras celebrations took place on February 25.

She was given "no red flags" about a public health threat at any point, so they decided to continue with business as usual.

I call BS on that. Why or what would the feds be involved in Mardi Gras? other than telling local law enforcement to avoid any media-frenzy-ready 'civil liberties' confrontations.

Baltimore population drops below 600,000, the lowest total in a century, census estimates show
[BALTIMORESUN] Baltimore’s population has dipped below 600,000 for the first time in more than a century, according to U.S. Census estimates released Thursday.

The city’s estimated population was 593,490 as of July 1, 2019, the new data shows.

That suggests Baltimore lost 8,953 people, or 1.5% of its population, from the previous year.

While the city’s population has been trending downward for decades, it had some small increases during the administration of former Democratic Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, standing at more than 623,000 in 2014.

But since 2015, when Baltimore saw civil unrest after the death of Freddie Gray from injuries he suffered in police custody, the city has experienced annual declines in population.

None of the counties surrounding the city saw their population substantially decline last year, noted Michael Rendall, director of the Maryland Population Research Center and a sociology professor at the University of Maryland, College Park.

The city’s population loss, he said, "is not a phenomenon reflective of the overall metropolitan area."

Since 2010, the city has lost 27,280 residents, shedding more than 4% of its population, according to the estimates.

Welcoming new people should be a top policy priority of the city, said Seema Iyer, who oversees the Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance at the University of Baltimore’s Jacob La Belle France Institute.

"We need that message to be very clear in the leadership ‐ that we want people to move into the city of Baltimore, that we want them to be part of the city," Iyer said, adding that leaders must work to ensure that there is enough affordable housing and a good transit system.

In addition to people leaving the city, a decrease in both births and in the number of people who have moved to Baltimore from other countries has contributed to the recent population decline, observers said.

Biden Tells Jimmy Kimmel His Phillies Cap Is ‘A Way To Be Able To Sleep With My Wife'
[DailyCaller] "With all that’s been going on over the past couple of weeks, virus-wise, I feel like we’ve almost forgotten about the presidential election. And there’s a guy who’s running in that election who used to be the Vice President of the United States," Kimmel said by way of introduction.

Biden immediately noticed Kimmel’s cap and asked, "What’s that hat you’ve got on?"

"It’s the New York Mets," Kimmel smiled. "It’s supposed to be Opening Day."

"Opening Day!" Biden repeated, reaching out of frame, grabbing a bright red Philadelphia Phillies cap and putting it on.
Because everybody keeps their "Panderin' Hat" within reach, man!
"Wow. You know what? This is not the way to win voters, Mr. Vice President," Kimmel shook his head and laughed.

"I tell you what, but it’s a way to be able to sleep with my wife," Biden replied with a smile. "She’s a Philly girl. If I weren’t for the Phillies, I’d be out of luck, man."
"And sobbing subbing for Jill Biden tonight:"

Joe Biden Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Former Staffer: ‘Penetrated Me With His Fingers’
[DAILYCALLER] Former Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant...
has been accused of sexual assaulting a former staffer in 1993 in his Senate office.

Tara Reade, who worked in Biden’s office in 1993, accused Biden of touching her, kissing her and penetrating her with his fingers without consent.

Reade made her claims in an interview with Katie Halper, a writer and podcast host, released Wednesday.

"We were alone, and it was the strangest thing. There was no, like, exchange really, he just had me up against the wall," Reade said.

"His hands were on me and underneath my clothes. And then, he went, he went down my skirt and then up inside it, and he penetrated me with his fingers...and um...He was kissing me at the same time and he was saying something to me," she also told Halper.

"He got finished doing what he was doing and I, how I was pulled back and he said, ’Come on man, I heard you liked me.’ And that phrase stayed with me because I kept thinking what I might have said. And I can’t remember exactly if he said ’I thought’ or if ’I heard.’ It’s like he implied that I had done this."

Reade said that she told her mother and brother about the assault. She also told a friend, who she says advised her not to come forward and face a public firestorm. Her mother, who has since passed, told her to report the incident, but her brother also discouraged her from doing so.

The Daily Caller reached out to Biden’s campaign about the allegation Wednesday and has received no response.

The reaction to this allegation has largely been muted in major media outlets. As of Friday afternoon, searches of the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, CNN.com, the Los Angeles Times and many other outlets show no articles on the allegations. Additionally, a keyword search of cable news channels turns up no results on major networks like CNN, MSNBC, Fox News or CNBC.

New York AG leads fight to stop Texas abortion ban
[NYPOST] New York Attorney General Letitia James is leading a coalition to stop Texas from blocking child sacrifice abortions during the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic, her office announced Friday.

Earlier this week, Texas issued a directive banning all non-emergency surgeries and procedures, including child sacrifice abortions, to free up resources.

"Texas and other states are using the coronavirus as an excuse to deny women their constitutional right to an child sacrifice abortion," James said in a statement. "This is a full-on assault on women’s reproductive rights not only in Texas, but across the country, and I will not allow any state to usurp the rights of women enshrined in the Constitution."

The AG said she’d be leading a coalition of attorneys general across the US to prevent Texas and other states who "use the coronavirus as a veiled assault on women’s reproductive freedoms."

The Center for Reproductive Rights, Planned Parenthood
...has received federal funding since 1970, when President Richard Nixon signed into law the Family Planning Services and Population Research Act. It is sometimes described as the gynecololgical wing of the Democratic party...
and other organizations sued the state of Texas in federal court, calling for an immediate restraining order to halt the ban.

James’ coalition intends to file court papers, known as an amicus brief, to bolster the lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. An amicus brief allows non-parties to join a lawsuit if they have an interest in the outcome.

#4  Yep ms Leticia, summer gets so hot in Commanche you would be wishing for a nice shade tree by a cold stream of water but in a lot of places all you get are hot rocks, prickly pear, rattle snakes (big ones!). When datk finally settles in for the evening the sky is so clear a constant show of falling stars streaking across the night sky look so close you feel like you are about to get hit by one. But soon a distraction sets in as a pack of wild yapping coyotes get your attention as they get closer and closer tracking your scent, but that sudden rattling of brush is most likely a wild hungry bobcat, or one of those huge long legged black amazingly glossy spiders with streaks of yellow looking for dinner. Or maybe a cute little calf, but watch out for that 2,200 pound mama brama that would take you out in a minute for being too close to junior. If you think you see the devil with big hooves out in the dark its just a Texas longhorn with a 6 foot horn rack with tips so sharp you can open a can of beer with one wack. You will soon stop supporting abortion because you will be wishing you could find a human being out there who get you a ride out of there... FAST!!!

#9  I can't think of anything more likely to influence a Texas judge than an amicus brief from the AG of New York. Maybe not in the way Letitia has in mind, but it will influence the judge. One thing I'm too lazy to look up is whether filing an amicus brief subjects the filer to the jurisdiction of the court in which the brief is filed. That would be fun.

Correct. How does the AG of NY and elsewhere have standing to sue for an internal decision in the state of Texas?

Article IV, Section 1 of the United States Constitution, the Full Faith and Credit Clause, addresses the duties that states within the United States have to respect the "public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state."
