He broke open the only piggy bank he has left. He has to pay the lawyers, and while I'm guessing here, I'm guessing that most or all of his personal property and funds are encumbered in one way or another. He used the PAC money because that's what is left.

Not to defend Rangel, but in a general sense prominent politicians (and other 'stars') are frequently the target of frivolous or vindictive laswuits and criminal charges and it can be bankruptingly expensive to defend against them.

The House congressional black caucus in the 111th was over 40. In the 112th, they will make up about 20% of the entire Democratic side of the aisle.

Lord G, the Congressional Black Caucus is probably going to be renamed the Congressional Democratic Black Caucus, since several black Republicans were elected this year. And they're not welcome in the CBC.

West already announced he plans to join and work to change the group's very progressive agenda; there are rumours that Mr. Scott is uninterested in going where he isn't wanted.
