Federal Court finds Obama appointees interfered with New Black Panther prosecution
[Washington Examiner] A federal court in Washington, DC, held last week that political appointees appointed by President B.O. did interfere with the Department of Justice's prosecution of the New Black Panther Party.

The ruling came as part of a motion by the conservative legal watch dog group Judicial Watch, who had sued the DOJ in federal court to enforce a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents pertaining to the the New Black Panthers case. Judicial Watch had secured many previously unavailable documents through their suit against DOJ and were now suing for attorneys' fees.

Obama's DOJ had claimed Judicial Watch was not entitled to attorney's fees since "none of the records produced in this litigation evidenced any political interference whatsoever in" how the DOJ handled the New Black Panther Party case. But

#6  There is the possibility of Perjury changes against some Obama DOJ people for lying under oath in testimony. The problem is, how do you get the DOJ to police itself when the head, the AG (Holder), is maliciously partisan, incompetent and the source of the problems?

Yet, if she allows O to lose and tries for the big seat the next go around she's almost certain to win the primaries and have a united Democratic party with four years for people to forget the excesses of Obama.

D.C. students being paid for summer school
[Washington Examiner] To fill the 400-student session with at-risk students, D.C. Public Schools reached out to the Department of Employment Services. More than 300 students flagged by DCPS and who had signed up for the Summer Youth Employment Program were told that school would be their jobs this summer.

Yeah, that's right. Keep those kids locked up in the same classrooms where they have already gagged. Waste their time and the taxpayers' money. DO NOT let them gain any actual work experience because they might then be tempted to work instead of wasting any more of their time in school. Then what would all those teachers do?

Obama will 'evaluate' bill to ban online munition sales
[Washington Times] White House front man Josh Earnest said Monday that President B.O. will "evaluate" a new bill that would ban online ammunition sales in the wake of the shooting massacre in Aurora, Colo. That left 12 dead and dozens more injured.

During the daily press briefing, Mr. Earnest was asked whether Mr. Obama supports the measure, which aims to end sales of unlimited amounts of ammunition on the Internet and other mail orders. The bill also would force ammunition dealers to report large sales of bullets and other munitions to law enforcement authorities

At first Mr. Earnest said he didn't know if Mr. Obama was aware of a bill sponsored by Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Democrat from New Jersey, and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, a Democrat from New York. He later amended this remarks to say the White House would evaluate the measure.

"The president's view that have been relayed quite frequently over the last few days, you know, is that he believes in the Second Amendment of the Constitution, in the right to bear arms but he also believes that we should take robust steps within existing law to ensure that guns don't fall in the hands of criminals or others [who] shouldn't have them," he said, referring to gun-control comments Mr. Obama made during at speech at the National Urban League.

The news hound followed up by asking whether the president's push for enforcing existing law would prevent him from supporting the bill banning online munition sales.

"Well, like I said, I haven't seen the specific piece of legislation that has been offered up today. But as those -- as that and other pieces of legislation make their way through the legislative process, you know, we'll consider -- we'll evaluate them as they make their way through the process," he noted.

#1  How about this: ban the ban on CCW nationwide. If the theater in Aurora, CO allowed licensed CCW, the nutcase killer would have been taken out with much less loss of life.

Illinois has a CCW ban. 240+ murders in Chicago alone in a year. How is the handgun ban working for you, Rahm? Do you have armed bodyguards? Willing to give them up for the good of the cause?

#3  he believes in the Second Amendment of the Constitution

Actually, he's legally bound by it and has sworn an oath to uphold it. Whether it's part of his personal creed is beside the point.

The larger issue is that Champ's view on whether he is bound by the Constitution is "evolving." We'll see the end of the process next year if he wins.

#7

What is large amounts of ammunition and over what period of time?

The desire of gun grabbers to go after guns will always be there. I doubt this bill will get much traction during an election year. Even if it was not an election year, I doubt there would be enough votes or interest to pass the bill. Instead the Demonrats try go through the back door--U.N. Small Arms Treaty, by attaching a gun control amendment to another necessary bill, etc.

Democrat - Media Affair More Real Than You Might Think
Obama Press Secretary Marries ABC Reporter

A deputy press secretary for Barack Obama's reelection campaign married an ABC reporter over the weekend. The ABC reporter, Matthew Jaffe, "covering the 2012 presidential campaign," according to his biography on the website of ABC News. "For the past year he traveled around the country covering the Republican primary, from the Iowa Straw Poll to the various debates to this year's primaries and caucuses."

The deputy press secretary Jaffe married is Katie Hogan. Many members of Obama's reelection team and the press celebrated the wedding together Saturday.
Turns out the happy couple did NOT register to have their gifts given to Obama-Biden 2012. Apparently they really do need the gravy boat...

Federal Court finds Obama appointees interfered with New Black Panther prosecution
A federal court in Washington, DC, held today that political appointees appointed by President Obama did interfere with the Department of Justice's prosecution of the New Black Panther Party.

But United States District Court Judge Reggie Walton disagreed. Citing a "series of emails" between Obama political appointees and career Justice lawyers, Walton writes:

The documents reveal that political appointees within DOJ were conferring about the status and resolution of the New Black Panther Party case in the days preceding the DOJ's dismissal of claims in that case, which would appear to contradict Assistant Attorney General Perez's testimony that political leadership was not involved in that decision. Surely the public has an interest in documents that cast doubt on the accuracy of government officials' representations regarding the possible politicization of agency decision-making.
...
In sum, the Court concludes that three of the four fee entitlement factors weigh in favor of awarding fees to Judicial Watch. Therefore, Judicial Watch is both eligible and entitled to fees and costs, and the Court must now consider the reasonableness of Judicial Watch's requested award.

The New Black Panthers case stems from a Election Day 2008 incident where two members of the New Black Panther Party were filmed outside a polling place intimidating voters and poll watchers by brandishing a billy club. Justice Department lawyers investigated the case, filed charges, and when the Panthers failed to respond, a federal court in Philadelphia entered a "default" against all the Panthers defendants. But after Obama was sworn in, the Justice Department reversed course, dismissed charges against three of the defendants, and let the fourth off with a narrowly tailored restraining order.

"The Court's decision is another piece of evidence showing the Obama Justice Department is run by individuals who have a problem telling the truth," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. "The decision shows that we can't trust the Obama Justice Department to fairly administer our nation's voting and election laws."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
4 sentenced to death for Iran’s bank fraud
TEHRAN: A Tehran court has sentenced to death four people convicted in Iran’s biggest-ever banking scandal, according to the national chief prosecutor yesterday, quoted by the official news agency IRNA.

The sentences came at the end of a trial of 39 suspects that started in February. The magnitude of the scandal was estimated at $2.6 billion when it came to light in September last year. Two other of the suspects were sentenced to life in prison and the remaining received terms behind bars of up to 25 years after also being found guilty of corruption.

The identities of those convicted were not made public. They have 20 days from the date of the verdict to lodge any appeal.

The scandal revolved around a private group that amassed trillions of rials in loans from half a dozen Iranian banks through what were said to be forged or illegally procured letters of credit to buy several state companies up for privatization.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last year denied accusations from some critical media outlets that his office had any links to the fraud.

The affair for several weeks fueled political infighting between Ahmadinejad’s government and ultra-conservative factions of the regime dominating Parliament and the courts.

Economy and Finance Minister Shamseddin Hosseini last November scraped through an attempt by the parliament to have him fired. Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani then stepped in to calm the row and order an end to public quarrelling seen as undermining the country’s interests.

Pelosi: Republican Jews just want to save on taxes
In a pot-stirring interview with Al Hunt, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that Jews who oppose President Obama's treatment of Israel are faking concern over the Jewish state. The comments are bound to stir anger among pro-Israel advocates. Pelosi argued that "many of the Republicans are using Israel as an excuse, what they really want are tax cuts for the wealthy."
"All those juices care about is money. They don't love like we do, you know."
Here is the exchange:

HUNT: One more foreign policy question, though. He's going to Israel, and your Republican -- the Republican majority in the House, one of your counterparts, Eric Cantor, said Republicans have a golden opportunity with the Jewish vote this year because there's a, quote, "real cloud over Obama's chilliness with Israel."

PELOSI: Well, you know what? That's maybe his characterization, but that, in fact, this president -- and hopefully during this campaign, it will become -- this president has been a staunch supporter of Israel.
For a given value of supporter than involves knives in the back, of course.
Many of the things that he has done, in terms of Israel's qualitative edge in terms of how we have -- have supported Israel in that regard, for them to defend themselves, A, B, is two issues that relate to Iran. No president has done more --

(CROSSTALK)

HUNT: Do you think he'll do as well with the Jewish vote this time as he did last time?
Not if two years of polling tells the truth.
PELOSI: The election will tell us that.

HUNT: What do you think?

PELOSI: But I -- I think that he will. I think that he will, because the fact is when the facts get out. You know, as many of the Republicans are using Israel as an excuse, what they really want are tax cuts for the wealthy. So Israel, that can be one reason they put forth.

HUNT: That's why some of the Republican Jewish supporters are really active.

PELOSI: Well, that's how they're being exploited. And they're smart people. They follow these issues. But they have to know the facts. And the fact is that President Obama has been the strongest person in terms of sanctions on Iran, which is important to Israel. He's been the strongest person on whether it's Iron Dome, David's Sling, any of these weapons systems and initiatives that relate to Israel. He has been there over and over again.

It's not as though the president had any choice in those matters, given the bipartisan votes in Congress...
Actually, Obama's failure to go to Israel since he was trying to shore up support among Jewish voters in 2008 has become a campaign issue. But it is her comment that Republican Jews are concocting complaints about Obama's Israel policies, which have been criticized at various times by both Democrats and Republicans, to disguise their opposition to higher taxes that will strike many as offensive.

Matt Brooks of the Republican Jewish Coalition reacted to Pelosi's remarks in an e-mail to Right Turn. He told me: "The one thing I can agree with Nancy Pelosi on is that Jewish Republicans are 'smart people.' We're smart enough to know that when it comes to Israel we can do a lot better then Barack Obama. Obama has publicly called for 'daylight' between the US and Israel, called for Israel to return to the indefensible '67 lines as a precondition for peace talks, and condemned Israel for building in . . . Jerusalem." He then took strong exception to Pelosi's claims of "exploitation": "So, sadly, while I appreciate Pelosi saying Jewish Republicans are smart, we most certainly are not being "exploited." Given the facts and I only wish that when it comes to Israel Nancy Pelosi and other defenders of Obama's failed Israel policies were as smart as us Jewish Republicans."

On Saturday a Pelosi spokesman tried to walk the statement back, saying, "She's not saying that members of Congress don't care about Israel. What she was clearly saying here is that if you as a Republican are going to attack the president's record while refusing to look at the facts, they're ignoring what the president has done even in a bipartisan way on this issue." No apology was offered for saying it was a ruse to keep Bush-era tax breaks.

Th Romney camp refused to comment on the remarks while Mitt Romney is traveling abroad. But once Romney returns to American "soil," don't be surprised if this becomes a contretemps. Whatever disagreements exist over Obama's Israel policies, this is the first time such a prominent Obama surrogate has accused pro-Israel critics of the president of being in it for the money.
Accused publicly, at any rate. These are after all, the same people who privately talk about the common people clinging to their guns, their hate, and their religion.
San Fran Nan is just laying down a marker here. She's telling the Jewish community, quite simply, "get back on the reservation or else". She thinks the Dems are going to win in the fall and she's making it clear that any traditional member of the Dem coalition that strays will face consequences.

It's power and identity politics, pure and simple.
