What bothered me about him [today] he keeps talking about common ground. Damn it, there's very little common ground between left and right, but what there is is compromise. You do something for me on minimum wage, I'll do something for you in corporate tax reform. You give me something on corporate tax reform and I'll get rid of some of the loopholes or I'll do something on trade for you. He never talks about trading and compromising, he always talks about common ground. Well, damn it, you can not run a government on common ground.
He misses the main point of politics which is to be a politician and to trade. Okay, you want this? You want to take care of people who have been here illegally for 20, 30 years? Here's what I want. No more illegal hiring, and that's all in the Senate bill. But he won't sell the compromise. There's something in this guy that just plays to his constituency and acts like there is no other room out there. And that's going to be a collision at the end of this year like you have never seen. I do believe it will be like waving a red flag in front of the bull. I think Mitch McConnell is headed for a fight with the president.

Obama doenst compromise. Because throughout his entire likfe if little Barry didn't get what he wanted, all he had to do was stomp his feet and throw a tantrum, and his betters would give him what he wanted.
College? Sure, affirmative action and (possibly) register you as a foreign student to get more assistance and slack in class.
Professorship? Sure, we'll let you be the editor, just don't write anything.
Illinois political job? Sure, work with these former terrorists - they will show you how to organize mobs and rig votes.
Election? Sure, we'll get you in the Illinois legislature by pushing out someone to clear the way. Just don't do anything controversial - vote "present" to stay away from hard decisions.
US Senate? No problem, we'll leak all kinds of dirt on your opponent from sealed court records from his divorce with a famous actress.
Presidency? Press will do what we tell them to, never call you out, and on top of that they will savage the Republicans for you, so you can run a "positive" campaign, leave all the nasty negatives to us. Run on vapor, "Hope and Change". Dont do anything in office other than stick to progressive things.

Last time I looked at a map Jerusalem was in Israel. That seems to be a pretty good claim to it.

The New City was part of the country from the beginning, Israel's capitol. The Old City was supposed to be international, but Jordan annexed it in 1948. Then Israel annexed it after the Six Day War in 1967, while they most decidedly did not annex the West Bank or the Gaza Strip. I don't recall whether they annexed the conquered swathe of the Sinai, but they willingly enough traded that for peace with Egypt later.

So, the opinion of a appointee lawyer in Washington is definitive in a foreign policy question about someone else's territory, with the US not being a party to the matter. Whereas it's not in the case of property seized from US citizens by a foreign government (i.e. Cuba, Venezuela, etc.)
Lawfare is wonderful; it's when they want it both ways at the same time that it's confusing.

Isn't possession 9/10ths of the law?
Besides if Israel, who took Jerusalem in a war, doesn't have claim, then that means the Paleos don't have claim as it was handed over by the British who took it in a war. Also then the Ottomans had no claim to it, as they took it in a war. Or the Crusaders. Or the Arabs. Or the Romans.
So by that logic whoever founded the city first has claim to it. I'll wait for them to step up and file to take ownership.

JFM you have it correct. The problem is that, while the grounds and evidence are there they cannot be explained to the majority or large minority of Americans due to the complexity of the issues.
Political philosophy and constitutional law are not taught in any way shape or form to allow the people to follow the argument. All you have to do is look at the video on college students that don't know who fought the civil war, who won or what it was about.

I oppose any attempt to impeach Obama, no matter how much he deserves it:
1. It won't work - there aren't enough votes to remove him from office.
2. We would end up with Slow Joe as president if Obama were convicted.
3. It would just make Obama a martyr.

Impeachment is tempting. As each year goes by, it becomes more and more tempting. Obama has done great damage to the country. He has trampled the Constitution. Most likely, he has committed high crimes and misdemeanors that are impeachable but the Pubs don't have the votes in the Senate to convict him. There are better things to do such as restore the country.
They need to address jobs, Obamacare, close the border, restore free markets and create a business climate in the country, address the myriad of crazy, debilitating regulations and taxes that are strangling business and build defense back up to mention a few.
I don't think the Congress can do this without Pub leadership in the Presidency. They can develop and pass legislation even though Obama will veto much of it. As said, send it back again and again. Congress also has a great deal of power in their control of the purse.

With Reid out of the way, the omnibus funding bill process ends. Individual department authorization comes back into play. If they have the will to do it. IF you do this, we won't fund that. IF you want this, you have to sign that.

I think Chris knows that there are two different worlds, but understands that the one he and Obama inhabit can't survive a civil war with the other if push comes to shove. There will be no victors, just survivors, of which most will be in the other world.

Got to agree with Rush Limbaugh. The message of the mid-terms was clear: "Stop Obama's agenda," he and it is destroying the country. Compromise was not part of any message that I have heard anywhere. The Pub victory was more overwhelming than in 2010.

The agenda for the next 2 years should be restoring Republican brand recognition by putting through good laws and taking credit for them and making Obama and Democrats the party of no if they veto.

Manchin is a moderate first-term senator who has been openly flirting with going home to run again for West Virginia governor in 2016 instead of running for reelection. In a brief interview with The Washington Post, he unloaded on his party's leader, saying he's deeply frustrated with President B.O. and Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) for his stewardship of the Senate in recent years. He openly suggested he might not support Reid to serve as Democratic leader again next year.
"Harry, let us vote, let's do something. It's easier for me to go home and explain what I voted for and against than to explain why I don't vote at all," Manchin said.
Using a sports metaphor, Manchin said Senate Democrats have been acting in recent years like the West Virginia University Mountaineers football team did last Saturday: "We had the lead the whole entire game up until the middle of the 4th quarter and they decided to sit on the ball. And guess what? We got beat 31 to 30."
"This is a rough and tumble sport and you know what? Every member of Congress ‐ 535 ‐ has earned the right to make a complete fool of themselves if they want to," he added. "We just have to make sure that the American public can see who wants to get something done, who wants to be an obstructionist and who wants to be a fool."
