Latest Scott Walker 'John Doe' probe cost Wisconsin taxpayers $1 million
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] An effort to investigate Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's political fundraising during his 2012 recall election cost Badger State voters $1.1 million, recently released court documents show. The investigation was halted last year after a judge determined that the activities alleged in the probe were not in fact illegal.

The figures may grow higher. At least seven lawsuits relating to the "John Doe" probe, a secret investigative procedure available to state prosecutors, have been filed and litigation remains ongoing, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Patrick Marley. The Wisconsin Club for Growth, one of the targets of the probe, has appealed for a dismissal of its lawsuit to the Supreme Court.
Our work will never be done here, Boris.

#1  This sort of cost should come out of the salaries of public employees only.

Either take a certain percentage out of all of them, or take out entire salaries until you've paid the million dollars.

Sen. Hatch: "most important" trade bill in US history must be handled vewy, vewy secretly

#1  Bull $#it.

This is the kind of thing that got the Republicans their bad reputation. RINO support for the oligarchs, in secret.

Talk about handing the loons on the left the stick to beat you with.

#2  The secrecy stinks so bad even Sen. Barbara Boxer has been quoted complaining about it.

#3  That settles it. Orin Hatch is down with it. Next Cornyn will say how important it is.
Take it out and burn it.

#4  Don't just say no, say HELL NO.

#5  Kill it. Burn it. Take the people that support it out and dump them in the middle of the Atlantic from 15,000 feet.

#6  I think I know why it has to be handled secretly: they plan to cram through the big expansion in H1B visas that businesses want, and they know how toxic that is right now.

#7  This takes 'we have to pass it to see what's in it' to an entirely new level.

F! U! Hatch!

#8  Hatch was best buddies with Ted Kennedy.

#9  SEN. ORRIN HATCH: Well, wait a minute.

What this bill does is, it provides the procedural mechanism where Congress can get into all of those issues once we pass this bill. In other words, it’s the way we can have total transparency. Plus, the reason that they’re — you can — members of Congress and their staffs can go see these matters right now, but the reason that they’re so tightly controlled is because they haven’t entered into them yet.

They have got to complete them. They didn’t want people tearing them down before they actually get them done. But, when they’re done, we will be able to look at them. We will know every aspect of them. It will be TPA that provides the mechanism for us to really look at those.

In other words - once we weld the shackles to your ankles and wrists, you will be free to look at them and see what they are. Until then you don't want you to actually see the shackles or the 2-Ton steel ball they are attached to because you might have some objection!

Just put your arms and legs thru these holes in the wall... no need to see what's on the other side.

#10  Yep fool that's about right.

The shackles and chains are those provisions that give international "tribunals" the authority to rule over anything that can be spun as "trade".

Think of our "elastic clause" in the constitution. Guns? that's trade, the UN has to rule if you're allowed to have one. Healthcare? The trade council has to rule if US workers have sufficient healthcare (see NIH), and on and on until every freedom is gone to the NWO OWG on which Joe M has waxed so poetic.

They keep pushing and pushing. What is the "bridge too far"?

#11  Considering Obama's last trade deal was 5 terrorists for 1 deserter I think we need more transparency not zero.

Obama Hurls Insults at Liberals on Trade
[OBSERVER] Mr. Obama's tirades on trade have included accusations that these liberal Democrats are ignorant about trade policy, insincere when offering their opinions, motivated by politics and not the national interest, and backward looking towards the past. Obama's repeated attacks against Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), in which he charged that Warren's concern about the trade bill is motivated not by a reasoned view of what is right for America but by her personal political motivations, is one of the most dishonest and repellant examples of character liquidation and contempt by any American president, against any leading member of his own party, in my lifetime.

Of course Ms. Warren, the most nationally respected liberal leader in American politics, is motivated by what she believes is right for the nation. Doubts about the trade bill are not limited to Ms. Warren. They are shared by the leader of Senate Democrats, Sen. Harry Reid
... the charismatic senator-for-life from Nevada, currently majority leader ...
(D-Nev.), the leader of House Democrats, Rep. Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. Formerly Speaker of the House, but it's not her fault they lost. Really. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace...
(D-Calif.), and a majority of Democrats in the Senate and House as well as a significant number of leading liberal economists.

For the President to suggest that he knows more about trade then all of them do, and that they are all ignorant about the trade bill and trade policy, is staggeringly false and contemptuous of many who have been working on trade policy far longer than he has and know far more about trade, in truth, than he does.

For Obama to question liberals' knowledge of trade, when he has chosen to keep the terms of the trade talks secret from the American people and most leading trade experts, and classified them as though the terms of trade talks should be equated with nuclear weapons secrecy, is absurd. As Elizabeth Warren and many others charge that the game is fixed, does anybody seriously believe that the highest paid lobbyists for the most wealthy global conglomerates that will reap the greatest profits from the trade pact are not aware of the key details of the trade talks that are being kept secret from most of the nation?

#4  It's like a reverse McCarthy thing - "That communist over there, Princess Elizabeth, is much less of a communist than me!" I thought Globalism was a Serious Thing for leftists, but I guess the taint of icky money that isn't going directly into a pol's pocket wrecks the whole thing...

#5  The problem here is this: All of the arguments are about process. Who has the power to make deals. Obama wants basically absolute power. Why?

Ahh, that comes down to the content of said trade deal. Libby is worried that the deal will contain all sorts of procedural details that allow the overriding of US laws that deal with finance e.g. Dodd Frank.

Other people, myself included, are worried that power to override our laws and BoR will be/are given to the UN or other international groups on any topic that can be spun to be trade related (see the elastic clause of the constitution), such things as gun-control, health care, labor law, etc. etc. may wind up as grist for the mill.

But, the content is all secret now. Do we want to trust the Rino Oligarchs and the Obama commie clique (oligarchs, too) to control all of this? I don't. Despite what is said by Commander Zero, once this deal is passed it will never be rolled back despite what language is in there that allows it. Bureaucracies never voluntarily give back power.

#6  Yep, they're old fashion. They still believe they need the votes of those privileged white blue collar workers, or at least filling the ranks in the coming civil war.

That's rich coming from a know-nothing guy.

Obama criticizing the current privileged ruling class of bureaucrats and Communist Party functionaries. Hmmmmm, pass the popcorn for the Democrat internecine food fight.

#11  Is the president who says liberals don’t know what they are talking about on trade intellectually unaware of this, or callously insensitive to this, or so contemptuous of liberals he simply does not care?

Yes…yes… and Hell yes.

#12  Thing is, Mr. Budowsky and the rest of his liberal ilk will suck it up and support Mr. Obama without question over the next twenty-two months. Because - politics.
