Christopher Steele Had Undisclosed Meeting With DNC, Clinton Campaign Lawyers
[The Federalist] According to an exclusive report from the Daily Caller, lawyers representing the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign provided dossier author Christopher Steele with information about alleged secret communications between the Trump Organization and Russian Alfa Bank. Steele admitted to this undisclosed meeting in a British court during March 17 and 18 hearings.

A lawyer for Perkins Coie, Michael Sussmann, made a since debunked tip to Steele, accusing the founders of Alfa Bank of having "illicit" ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This chain of events created the September 14, 2016, memo which publicized the alleged ties.

Steele was in court for a defamation lawsuit filed against him by the Alfa Bank founders.

According to the transcript obtained by Daily Caller, one week after Steele wrote the September 14 memo, he met with Sussmann’s colleague Marc Elias.
Marc Elias again? Turn over a Dem scandal rock and this slimy piece of shit always turns up
Steele said in his testimony that Sussmann told him about the suspicious ties between the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank. Steele’s testimony reveals how the DNC and Clinton campaign lawyers played a large role in the Trump Organization investigation and how lawyers with overt political ties helped create the Russian collusion narrative.

Elias, the Clinton campaign’s general counsel, hired Fusion GPS to investigate Donald Trump. Fusion GPS then hired Steele to investigate Trump’s alleged ties to the Russian government. Steele produced a total of 17 memos claiming Trump was in cahoots with the Kremlin to alter the results of the 2016 presidential election.

In his March 17 testimony, Steele said Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson instructed him, after the Sussmann meeting, to write a report about Alfa Bank. It was previously unknown whether Steele was tasked with investigating Alfa Bank, or if he investigated under his own jurisdiction.

"I was given the instruction sometime after that meeting with Mr. Simpson," Steele said.

Schumer Demands Oversight Hearings for Trump's ‘Abject Failure' Implementing Coronavirus Relief
[Breitbart] Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Tuesday called for oversight hearings as early as next week over what he said is President Trump’s "abject failure" at properly implementing coronavirus relief measures.

"This administration has been an abject failure at implementing most of these laws," Schumer said, outlining his first order of business during a Tuesday appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Schumer formally made his demand in a statement on Monday, calling on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senate Republicans to "immediately begin vigorous and desperately needed oversight of the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its implementation of the CARES Act":

There must be public Senate hearings, at a minimum, to examine why the United States still does not have adequate testing and why some lenders in the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program have prioritized the applications of their larger and wealthier clients to the detriment of smaller businesses that have oftentimes suffered greater hardship.

Schumer told Morning Joe that lawmakers should "haul in Dr. Birx, Dr. Fauci, Azar, and say ’Why isn’t testing working?’"

He is also calling on Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Small Business Administration Administrator Jovita Carranza to testify, particularly regarding Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans going to big businesses.

"All too often it seems the president’s ego is at stake," Schumer said.

While the House will not reconvene next week, the Senate is scheduled to return May 4. McConnell said they will start confirming judges "as soon as we get back in session."

"We need to have hearings, and we need to confirm judges. ... The pandemic will not prevent us from achieving that goal," McConnell said, drawing ire from Schumer:

Ex-NAACP Leader Kweisi Mfume Wins Maryland Seat in Congress
[NECN] Democrat Kweisi Mfume easily won a special election Tuesday to finish the term of the late Elijah Cummings, retaking a Maryland congressional seat he held for five terms before leaving to lead the NAACP.

Mfume defeated Republican Kimberly Klacik in the heavily Democratic 7th Congressional District, capping a race dramatically reshaped by the coronavirus. After winning what was largely a mail-in election, Mfume told supporters many people are "struggling at this hour to fight off the terrible disease of the coronavirus."

"To them, to their families and to the families of so many others who have lost lives prematurely to this disease, I want all of you to know that from day one, all of my attention, all of my energy and all of my focus in the United States Congress will be on using science, data and common sense to help get our nation through this dark hour in our history," Mfume said.

Surprise discovery in Flynn case: former lawyers find evidence they failed to produce
Whoops! What are these? Rose Law Firm Billing Records?
[Just The News] The surprises keep coming in former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's legal battle to overturn his conviction in the Russia probe.

Just days after the FBI belatedly produced possible evidence of innocence to Flynn's new legal team led by Attorney Sidney Powell, his old law firm on Tuesday informed the judge it had located 6,800 documents that it failed to turn over as required by a court order in 2019.

Covington & Burling LLP told the court its search team failed to search all of the law firm's records and missed the documents, mostly emails. The documents were produced to Powell on Tuesday.

"Covington determined that an unintentional miscommunication involving the firm's information technology personnel had led them, in some instances, to run search terms on subsets of emails ... rather than on the broader sets of emails that should have been searched," Flynn's former attorney Robert Kelner told the court in a motion.

"We now have performed another search, using search terms and manual reviews, on a broader universe of material to correct the earlier error and to transfer additional documents that are part of the client file," Kelner wrote, saying his firm was willing to assist Powell on any other matters and to address any questions the judge may have about the oversight.
Sounds like his economic loss just got covered - in the millions

#17  The timing of this disclosure suggests that some of these emails were to or from the prosecutors which presumably were revealed to exist by the disclosures to Powell from the other side.
If so, they were probably withheld to cooperate with the government agents involved, and were done so against the best interests of their client. This could be seriously bad for them.

Democratic Rep Lacy Clay Rips Stacey Abrams For VP Lobbying Campaign: ‘You Can't Show Up At The Winner's Window With Loser's Tickets'
Ohhhhhh SNAP!
[Daily Caller] Democratic Missouri Rep. Lacy Clay criticized former Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams for publicly lobbying to become former Vice President Joe Biden's running mate in the 2020 election.

Clay said in an interview Tuesday that Abrams's lobbying campaign to become Biden's VP is "inappropriate," and noted that she lost the race for Georgia governor that catapulted her to national notoriety.

"Here's what I do know. And it's like all of the other presidential candidates, Democratic presidential primary candidates and their supporters, OK, we went through a process, Bernie Sanders has conceded, and this applies to Stacey [Abrams] too," Clay said on the Tangazo! podcast.

He added: "You know, at the race track, you cannot show up at the winner's window with loser's tickets. You haven't won anything. You can’t show up at the winner’s window with loser’s tickets and demand anything."

Hillary Clinton endorses Joe Biden
[CNN] Crooked Hillary Clinton
...former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away. Politix is not one of her talents, but it's something she keeps trying to do...
endorsed Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body...
during a virtual town hall on Tuesday, putting the support of the Democratic standard bearer from four years ago behind the former vice president and current presumptive presidential nominee.

Clinton touted Biden as a "friend" and a figure who has been "preparing for this moment his entire life," as she lambasted President Donald Trump
...the Nailer of NAFTA...
as someone who is so ill prepared to be commander in chief that he appears to be just playing the role on television.

"I want to add my voice to the many who have endorsed you to be our president," Clinton said.

She added, in a nod to the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
, that "this is a moment where we need a leader, a president, like Joe Biden."

Biden called Clinton a "friend" and thanked her for the "wonderful personal endorsement."

The former secretary of state's endorsement was a foregone conclusion -- she had said for months that she would back the eventual nominee -- but it remains a significant boost for Biden because Clinton still enjoys deep support from an array of Democratic voters.

"[A]s we go forward, let’s see what works," Pelosi outlined. "What is operational, and what needs other attention? Others have suggested a minimum ... guaranteed income for people. Is that worthy of attention now? Perhaps so because there are many more people than just in small business and hired by small business as important as that is to the vitality of our economy and other people who are not in the public sector meeting our needs in so many ways that may need some assistance as well."

She added, "But again, recognize the realities of it all. What is the execution of it? What is working? And ... what are we getting our money’s worth on? I think we have to look at that, too. How is the money being spent? With all the best intentions in the world, but nonetheless, we want the money to go where it needs."

Democrats backtrack on plan to reconvene House next week
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Democratic leaders Tuesday backtracked on a plan to reconvene the House next week after rank-and-file politicians called the move "dangerous."

Majority Leader the mealy-mouthed Steny StinkyHoyer
...Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi's second banana, or plaintain, or mango, or whatever he is. Number Two, anyway...
, a Maryland Democrat, told news hounds Tuesday the decision was based on several factors, including a recommendation from healthcare officials.

"The House physician's view is that there is a risk to members that is one he would not recommend taking," Hoyer said.

Hoyer told news hounds leaders will wait until a second economic aid package is ready for a vote.

The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on Monday, and the House had planned to return. Now, its next session remains on hold. The House has been in recess since mid-March due to the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)

Supreme Court Puts Government On the Hook for $12 Billion in Obamacare Payments
[FREEBEACON] The Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the federal government is on the hook for billions in payments to health insurers who sold coverage on the Affordable Care Act exchanges.

The eight to one decision clears the way for insurers to collect upwards of $12 billion via an Obamacare
...aka the Affordable Care Act, an ineptly designed and worse executed piece of legislation designed to bring 17 percent of the U.S. economy under the direct control of the government. The previous iteration, known as Hillarycare, was laughed out of Washington. This stinker was passed on a party-line vote without being read...
program designed to help insurers manage risks they took by participating in ACA exchanges. Congress has refused to appropriate federal money for the program since 2014, leaving insurers in the lurch.

The decision is a blow to congressional Republicans and the Trump administration, who say the program is little more than a bailout for insurance companies who made hazardous business decisions. Unable to repeal the law in full, Republicans have attacked the ACA in piecemeal fashion, withholding the risk payments in Monday’s case and canceling payments to health insurers that subsidize care for low-income clients. Monday’s decision marks another failed Republican attempt to undermine the health care law.

At issue in the case is the so-called risk corridor program. The insurers who joined the ACA exchanges faced uncertainty immediately after the health care law passed and extended coverage to millions of previously uninsured and people with preexisting conditions. The risk corridors set up a system for sharing profits and losses: Companies who finished ahead would pay a portion of their profits to the government while insurers who finished behind could collect payments from the government to offset losses.

The trouble for the program was that costs greatly exceeded payments. In its first year, for example, the government collected $362 million from insurers who finished ahead, but owed those who finished behind $2.87 billion. That gap grew in the remaining two years of the program.

Congress refused to make up the difference. In turn, the insurance companies sued the government in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, accusing the government of "a massive bait and switch."

Justice Sonia Sotomayor delivered the High Court’s opinion, saying the Obamacare law required the government to make risk corridor payments.

"These holdings reflect a principle as old as the nation itself: the government should honor its obligations," Sotomayor wrote. She warned that governments that dodge their financial engagements will not be trusted or respected.

#1  If the Republicans didn't want to make Obamacare payments, they should have repealed it when they had the bloody chance. Refusing to make payments mandated by law is not okay, and I'm glad the Supreme Court saw that. The fact that it is a bailout for insurance companies is not the Court's problem, it is Congress' problem.

Mayor reopens town in defiance of state lockdown order, braces for confrontation
[BIZPACREVIEW] The mayor of a small New Mexico city warned there would be a "confrontation" between his police and the state if his order to reopen businesses was blocked.

Grants Mayor Martin Hicks allowed his town to reopen for limited business on Monday, in direct defiance of the statewide order in place by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in response to the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic. He joined a few dozen supporters on Monday to rally in support of businesses in the city of about 9,000 people.

"The governor is killing the state over a little bug," Hicks said Monday, according to CBS News.

The Democrat mayor encouraged businesses to open their doors on Monday, opened the city’s only golf course and called Grants’ 100 employees back to work.

"Our governor is saying to you, you are going to die if you go back to work at city hall," Hicks declared at the gathering by city hall, KOAT-TV reported.

"You are going to die if you go back to your construction job, but it’s OK if you work at Walmart. You are not going to die if you work at Walmart. Just any other place you are going to die," he said, projecting a 33% loss of revenue in the western New Mexico town.

The state’s Democratic governor had criticized the plan by Hicks to reopen his town, saying it makes "absolutely no sense whatsoever" and warning that State Police would be on hand to continue to enforce her stay-at-home order through May 15.

New Mexico has seen more than 2,700 cases. About 150 people are hospitalized and 99 have died, according to state health officials. The highest number of cases in the state have been recorded just to the west of Grants in McKinley County.

All nonessential businesses in New Mexico were ordered to close and gatherings of over five people were banned by the governor’s order back in March. Hicks announced his plan to reopen Grants last week.

"On Monday... we are reopening Grants. Yes we are, we are going to follow the CDC guidelines. We are going to do the social distancing, but we will be open for business even though that is against the governor’s executive order,’ he said, according to KOAT.

#5  One person probably not wearing one of those shirts, is the now former City Manager Linda Jaramillo. She says she was fired Tuesday morning by Mayor Martin Hicks because she refused to reopen the city’s golf course after Grants received a notice of violation from the state police the day earlier.

Hicks had ordered all of the employees to keep the golf course open.

“I still stand by my actions in defending the city’s golf course staff and their desire not to violate the governor’s health order,” she said in a telephone interview. “Our staff was not comfortable in breaking the law and opening the golf course.”

Tuesday evening, Attorney General Hector Balderas issued a cease and desist order to Hicks. He said in the order that the mayor is violating state law by opening the golf course and encouraging businesses to violate the governor's order. Balderas mentions Jaramillo's firing.

REPORT: Virginia Governor Northam Violating Stay-at-Home Orders With Travel to North Carolina Vacation Home
Stay at home for thee, but not for me.
[Big League Politics] Reports have surfaced in a coastal North Carolina community of none other than Virginia Governor Ralph Northam arriving in town and violating multiple county and state stay-at-home orders.

Eyewitness accounts describe Northam as leaving Virginia, flying into North Carolina's Dare County with the use of a private plane. He's purportedly used private drivers to pick him up from Wright Memorial Airport, who take the governor to his vacation home in Manteo, North Carolina.

A Virginia man who describes having been briefed on the matter by Dare County residents has been unable to receive concrete answers on Northam's whereabouts.

He claims to have spoken "with numerous people in Dare County who have seen or heard that Northam is going to and from his vacation home on a regular basis. When questions are being asked of those who could answer questions- the local sheriff in Dare County, the security guards at the Pirates Cove gated community, First Flight Airport, etc – EVERYONE becomes suspiciously quiet and off the record says they are sure Northam is there but on the record do not want their name tied to it, and refuse to provide proof- like security guards log from the gated community or like flight logs from the airport."

Stacey Abrams escalates pressure campaign to be Biden's running mate
[Wash Examiner] Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams is ramping up her pressure campaign to be Joe Biden's vice presidential pick.

According to Politico on Tuesday, Abrams has been calling Democratic power brokers and asking that they tell the Biden campaign she should be chosen as his running mate.

Abrams's efforts to win the veepstakes is nearly unprecedented in modern politics, with some Democrats saying her actions appear desperate.
"I might have to get a real job"
Nobody wants her — that’s why she is available, poor dear.
In multiple media appearances and interviews in the last month, Abrams has said she's interested in the role. She has described herself as an " excellent" pick for Biden and said on The View earlier in April that she would have "concerns" if Biden didn't pick a woman of color as a running mate.

Abrams has cited her experience in the private sector as well as her "independent study" of international affairs as qualifications for the role. Her only experience in public service includes being minority leader of the Georgia House of Representatives.

"As a young black woman growing up in Mississippi, I learned that if you don't raise your hand, people won't see you, and they won't give you attention," Abrams told CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday. "But it's not about attention for being the running mate. It is about making sure that my qualifications aren't in question because they're not just speaking to me. They're speaking to young black women, young women of color, young people of color, who wonder if they, too, can be seen."

What I am not sure is obvious is that either (actually many Dems) will say anything at any time to accrue more power. Power over others is their purest goal. Nothing will stand in the way of their attainment of that goal. Nothing. Truth, justice, etc. This has been obvious since their entry onto the political scene. Please tell me I am preaching to the choir? I hope?
