Afghanistan
Taliban commander's dead body set on fire in Herat province
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The dead body of a senior Taliban capo was set on fire by unknown armed individuals in western Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province of Afghanistan.

According to local government officials the incident took place in Shindand district on Friday morning.

Shindand district administrative chief Engineer Farahmurz said the Taliban leader was identified as Mullah Nooruddin whose dead body was set on fire by unknown gunnies.

Eng. Farahmurz further added that Mullah Noorudin was injured following a shootout with the Afghan cops and departed this vale of tears after he was taken to Pakistain for treatment.

He said the dead body of Mullah Noorudin was taken to Shindand district for burial when unknown armed individuals set his dead body on fire.

It is yet not clear who was involved behind the act but Shindand district chief said an investigation has been launched in this regard.

what is deemed among Mahommedans the greatest reproach, that of being the "sons of burnt fathers", i.e, of unbelievers

pp 40-41:
On Peshawar:
Midway between the city and the cantonment is the jail behind, [above] whose walls rises the black cross-beam of the gallows, visible from the road. "Ghazi outrages," cases of murder of English officers by religious fanatics, though not so frequent as formerly, are by no means extinct. These "ghazis" are among young talibs (students) from the hills who have had their imagination inflamed by some mullah with visions of paradise and its houris. In 1896 a young officer was just putting his horse into the train at the station when he was stabbed in the back by a "ghazi" and killed. The man afterwards stated that it was in revenge for one of his relatives who had been killed by the English in a frontier expedition. In 1897 a clerk in the Deputy Commissioner's office was shot in broad daylight as he was driving through the main bazaar of the city by a "ghazi," who mistook him for the Deputy Commissioner himself. The murderer escaped through a thick crowd and was never captured. On the frontier executions take place quickly after conviction. Sometimes the bodies of "ghazis" have been burnt, as Muhammadans believe that no one who has not been buried with the due rites can enter Paradise. Cremation, therefore, deprives the "ghazi" of the honours of martyrdom.

Libya Dawn men and supplies captured in Tajoura
[Libya Herald] Gunmen in Tajoura have detained a contingent of fighters from Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
, along with the weapons, armoured vehicles and ammunition they were carrying, all of which was said to be destined to support the western front of Libya Dawn's armed conflicts.

The event, reported by local media, was supposedly in retaliation for the capture of a number of young men from Tajoura last week. They were reportedly seized by Libya Dawn forces and imprisoned in Misrata.

For its part, Libya Dawn accuses Tajoura residents of supporting Operation Dignity and Khalifa Hafter. They in turn state they want a legitimate police force and army and areported saying they will release the Libya Dawn men and supplies only when their "sons" are released from the Misrata prison.

Libya Dawn forces are now reported on social media to have threatened to retaliate for the Tajoura abductions by attacking the Al-Rabha camp of the 101 Battalion of the Libyan Army. They also reported saying they will try to capture all Operation Dignity supporters.

Benghazi suicide car bomber kills 3, wounds 20
[Libya Herald] Three people were killed and 20 injured ‐ all civilians ‐ when a jacket wallah blew himself and his car up near an army checkpoint next to Benghazi's Leithi district this morning. According to to Fadel Al-Hassi, head of the Special Forces Investigation Department, the bomber who also died was seen driving at speed towards the checkpoint and managed to detonate his explosives when shot by soldiers.

Initially it was reported that no one had been killed in the blast.

The incident took place on the highway near the Hijaz Street overhead bridge.

LNA and Operation Dignity forces have been carrying out an intensive onslaught in Leithi, the main Benghazi stronghold of Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
and its allies. The use of suicide bombers indicates a growing desperation on the latter's part.

Boko Haram Launches Its First-Ever Attack on Niger
[NEWS.VICE] The Nigerian Lion of Islam group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
launched its first-ever assault on Niger Friday, attacking the town of Bosso, located just across the border from the northeast region of Nigeria mostly controlled by the Islamist Lion of Islams.

Niger troops and Chadian warplanes fought off the turbans who, according to the BBC, launched their attack "early in the morning, with heavy weapons." Rooters has reported that at least five Niger troops were maimed in the attack.

The incursion came a day after a French army front man confirmed French troops were stationed in the nearby city of Diffa -- situated less than 10 miles west of Bossa in Niger -- as part of an initiative to support Chad and Niger's armies.

This week, Chadian troops entered Nigeria to try and break Boko Haram's grip on the border town of Gamboru. This coming Monday, Niger's parliament was scheduled to vote on whether or not to send its own troops to Nigeria to help combat the Lion of Islams. Speaking to VICE News on Friday, a Niger government front man said he hoped "parliament would approve the deployment of troops....It's a question of national security for us."

Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
movement on Friday dissolved parliament and said a new interim assembly would be formed, a move that could ease a power struggle that forced the president to step down last month.

The new assembly will elect a five-member interim presidential council to manage the country's affairs in a transitional period of up to two years, according to a televised statement.

Some politicians attended the announcement which took place at the Presidential Palace. Former interior and defence ministers were also there, indicating that the announcement has the blessing of some other political factions.

Yemen has been in political limbo since President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the government of Prime Minister Khaled Bahah resigned after the Houthis seized the presidential palace and confined the head of state to his residence in a struggle to tighten control.

Egyptian jailed in US over Africa embassy bombings
[Al Ahram] An Egyptian man was sentenced to 25 years in a US prison Friday for conspiring to kill Americans in the 1998 embassy bombings in Africa, which left 224 people dead.

Adel Abdel Bary -- who was extradited to the United States from Britannia in 2012 -- pleaded guilty last September on three counts of working for Al-Qaeda and Egyptian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
In 1997 and 1998, Bary headed up the London cell of Egyptian Islamic Jihad -- then led by Ayman al-Zawahiri
... Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area. That is not a horn growing from the middle of his forehead, but a prayer bump, attesting to how devout he is...
, who is now head of Al-Qaeda -- and the two groups essentially merged.

Bary passed to journalists Al-Qaeda's claim of responsibility for the bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, which left more than 5,000 others maimed.

He also passed on threats of future Al-Qaeda attacks that were sent from London to media organizations in La Belle France, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
and the United Arab Emirates the day after the embassy bombings.

The August 7, 1998 boom-mobileing of the US embassy in Nairobi killed 213 people and maimed another 5,000.

A near simultaneous truck bomb outside the US mission in Tanzania killed 11 people and maimed 70 more.

Federal judge Lewis Kaplan told Bary that the sentence would allow him to return to his family and live out the remainder of his life in freedom, a privilege not extended to his victims.

Bary has already spent 16 years in British and US custody.

"I would like to say I feel sorry for all the victims," he told the judge, speaking through a translator.

"If I could just do something to bring the victims back, I would," he added.

Bary's son, former London rapper Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, is now believed to have joined hard boyz fighting in Syria.

By pleading guilty, Bary avoided spending the rest of his life behind bars.

His alleged co-conspirator -- Saudi exile Khalid al-Fawwaz, the purported chief of the London Al-Qaeda cell -- is currently on trial in New York.

A third co-conspirator, Libyan defendant Abu Anas al-Libi, died in jug last month from natural causes.

Minnesota teen charged with lying to federal agents over suspicious trip to Turkey
[JPOST] an airplane bound for Turkey last year has been charged with repeatedly lying to federal agents investigating the recruitment of young US residents to join Islamist krazed killer groups, prosecutors said on Thursday.

Hamza Ahmed, 19, and three other young Minnesota men took a bus to New York from Minneapolis where authorities stopped them from leaving on international flights on Nov. 9, FBI Special Agent Daniel Higgins said in court papers.

The charge of making false statements against Ahmed, a Minneapolis resident, was unsealed on Thursday.

Ahmed and a man identified by the initials M.F. in a criminal complaint had tickets on the same flight to Istanbul, Turkey, which has been used as a gateway to Syria for people who have fought for Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, the agent said.

Ahmed was removed from the flight and interviewed in New York and later in Minnesota, telling agents he was traveling by himself, did not know the other men and had planned to stay by himself in Madrid for four days, the complaint said.

Agents found his itinerary would have allowed Ahmed one full day in Madrid, and video footage showed that he and M.F. went to a Minnesota bus station together and interacted extensively before their bus trip to New York, according to the complaint.

Ahmed and M.F. purchased bus tickets within 25 minutes of each other, likely using the same computer, the agent said. All four men were aged 19 or 20, authorities said.

Ahmed also denied knowing another man who authorities believe traveled to Syria in 2014, but agents found they had exchanged extensive messages on Twitter, the complaint said.

[Gulf News] Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
: Police fatally shot a man, who was incarcerated
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
on Thursday and confessed to killing 22 people, in a bid to foil his escape from custody on Friday.

The accused, Ubaidur Rehman, was killed in Altaf Nagar of Orangi Town in a shoot-out, in which a police official also sustained injuries.

The arrest was declared by Tahir Naveed, deputy inspector general (DIG) of western Karachi. Investigators told media that the accused had confessed to killing 22 men, including eight police officials and four doctors.

Police sources said that the Sherlocks were taking Rehman to identify his other accomplices when he allegedly tried to snatch the gun from a police official and was shot.

The DIG had also accused the man of his involvement in sectarian killings in the city and the suspect had confessed to murdering a political activist.

Iraq
Two Baghdad suicide bombers kill at least 23
Two bombings have killed at least 23 people and left 60 more wounded in Baghdad.

In the first incident Saturday, a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a restaurant in the Shi'ite neighbourhood of Jididah, killing at least 11 people and injuring 30 more. In the second incident, a suicide bomber detonated his suicide vest in a busy commercial street in Al-Shurjah, killing 12 and wounding another 30.

Saturday's attacks occur in Baghdad as the nightly curfew was set to end at midnight. Lifting the curfew would be a major change to a longstanding policy meant to curb violence in the capital.

Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi ordered the move earlier in the week, a decision his spokesman said was taken so there would "be normal life as much as possible, despite the existence of a state of war".

#1  Wow that really showed those people in a street and people in a restaurant.

Can muzzies only fight people who are not going to shoot back?

They seem the most hapless fighters in the world, what holds them back apart from the koran?

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jordan warplanes strike terrorist group
Amman -- Jordan said its warplanes launched dozens of new strikes on Thursday against the terrorist group, after vowing a harsh response to the burning alive of a pilot captured in Syria.
No word on whether the King led the flight...
Jordan’s military said “dozens of jet fighters” struck militant targets on Thursday morning, “hitting training camps of the terrorist groups as well as weapons and ammunition warehouses”. It did not say where the targets were located -- the terrorist group holds swathes of Syria and Iraq -- but said they were destroyed and the aircraft returned home safely.

American F-16 and F-22 jets provided security to the Jordanian fighter planes, with additional support from refuelling tankers and surveillance aircraft, US officials said.
The F-22 is in the fight? Interesting...
Washington has also deployed aircraft and troops to northern Iraq to boost capabilities to rescue downed pilots fighting with the international coalition that is battling the terrorist group, a US defence official told AFP.

Jordan’s military has pledged to “destroy this terrorist group and kill the evil in its own place”, saying it would punish the terrorist group for the “heinous act” of burning him alive.

Majority of first-time Israeli voters are leaning to the right
[Ynet] Some 67% of first-time voters define themselves as either right-wing or center-right, with 17.6% of them backing Likud and only 9.3% saying they would vote for Zionist Camp.
So much for the overwhelming effectiveness of President Obama's expensive lefty advisory group. One would feel for them, if only... no never mind. One is absolutely satisfied anticipating the mortifying outcome for those Progressive whiz kids and the foolish Labourites who believed in them. The election will be on March 17th. More at the link.

Thousands rally in Jordan urging punishment of IS
[Al Ahram] Thousands marched in Jordan's capital Friday demanding retribution for the burning alive of a fighter pilot by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group, as Amman intensified its fight against the jihadists.

Jordan said dozens of its jet fighters struck IS on Thursday, and had widened their campaign from Syria to include targets in neighbouring Iraq.

Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh told CNN the operation was "the beginning of our retaliation over this horrific and brutal murder of our brave young pilot."

Earlier this week, IS released a video of the gruesome killing of airman Muath al-Kassasbeh, whose death has sparked grief and deep anger in Jordan.

In Amman crowds of people waved Jordanian flags and pictures of Kassasbeh.

"We are all Maaz... We are all Jordan," they chanted, some holding placards aloft that read: "Yes to punishment. Yes to the eradication of terrorism."

Holding a portrait of the pilot with the words "Maaz the martyr of righteousness", Jordan's Queen Rania joined the marchers after weekly prayers at the Al-Husseini mosque.

Demonstrator Yussef al-Soud told AFP: "We are here to express our anger. We are all soldiers... ready to avenge the pilot."

The queen, who did not address the rally, had called in November for redoubled efforts in the anti-IS offensive, which she said was a "fight for the Middle East and Islam".

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Kurds seize dozens of villages from Daesh
Syrian Kurdish fighters have seized dozens of villages from Daesh group militants around the town of Kobani on the Turkish border, expanding their control in the area, a monitor said Friday. The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) had captured 101 villages around Kobani since seizing it from Daesh on January 26 after four months of fighting, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

“They now control territory ranging from 15 to 25 kilometres from Kobani to the east, west and south,” Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman said.

The small town became a key battleground, with Daesh poised at one point to overrun it and cement its grip on a large stretch of territory along the border.

Since January 26, YPG forces have advanced steadily in the surrounding countryside, recapturing dozens of villages, some no larger than a few dozen homes. In some villages, they have met little resistance, with Daesh fighters withdrawing as they advance. But in other places there have been clashes, with the Observatory saying at least 13 Daesh fighters were killed in a YPG ambush Friday.

Kurdish forces captured dozens of Baath members in northern Syria
[ARA] Hasakah, Syria ــ The People's Protection Units (YPG) tossed in the calaboose
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
dozens of members of the Arab Socialist Baath Party in Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in Hasakah province, in northeastern Syria, locals reported on Thursday.

Speaking to ARA News in Sere Kaniye, civil rights activist Aziz Khalil said that the YPG carried out a campaign of mass arrests in the ranks of the members of the Arab Socialist Baath Party in the city and a number of its surrounding villages.

"The YPG forces arrested Saeed Attiya, the former head of the Baath branch during the bloody events of Qamishli (Qamishlo) in 2004 (where nearly 40 Kurdish men were killed by the pro-regime security forces)," Khalil added.

Khalil said that Saeed Attiya was accused of supervising the looting operations, which affected tens of Kurdish shops in the city of Sere Kaniye, in addition to supervising the torture process carried out against the Kurdish detainees in the state security branch of the city.

Local activists told ARA News that the arrest campaign also included other areas in the countryside of Sere Kaniye, as well as other areas in the province of Hasakah, arguing that the arrests came on the heels of the repercussions of the recent festivities between the YPG forces and the pro-regime militias in the city of Hasakah, during which dozens fell between dead and maimed from both sides, including civilians.

Noteworthy, Qamishli events in 2004 came after three children were killed in the stadium of the city, during a soccer match between the teams of al-Jihad from Qamishli and the Futuwa from Deir ez-Zor, to develop into festivities between the Kurdish protesters and the pro-regime forces in all the cities of Hasakah province.

Additionally, the anti-regime Kurdish uprising spread to the cities of Kobane and Afrin, as well as the Kurdish neighborhoods in the cities of Damascus and Aleppo. At least 40 Kurds were reported dead, 500 injured and tens of thousands were imprisoned, while many Kurdish shops were looted in the cities of Hasakah and Sere Kaniye.

Hasakah: Kurdish forces and Syrian army push ISIS back
[ARA] Hasakah, Syria ‐ The Syrian regime's military forces ‐backed by the Maghawir Militia‐ reported advances in the eastern and southeastern areas of the Hasakah countryside, in northeastern Syria, exploiting popular discontent of villages on the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (IS/ISIS).

Following Maghawir Militia's advancement during the recent operations in Hasakah earlier this week, dozens of Arab youth from the Sharabiya joined the militia's ranks to fight against the IS, a local source told ARA News.

The source pointed out that the prohibitive laws and restrictions of the IS group on the region's youth were in the interest of the pro-Assad militias, pointing out that the regime regained control of large parts of the Hasakah countryside, including the villages of Bab al-Khair and Sabaa Skor ‐adjacent to the town of Melabiya (12 km south of Hasakah), which is held by the IS group for nearly a year.

In the meantime, the Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG) seized the Assyrian village of Tel Hormuz on the western bank of the Khabur River after the IS expulsion from the area, a member of the YPG Media Center told ARA News on Thursday.

The source added that warplanes of the U.S.-led coalition targeted strongholds of IS near Mount Abdul Aziz in the Hasakah suburbs.

On the other hand, local residents from the town of Tel Brak (40 km eastern Hasakah) reported that forces of the YPG and the Syrian troops have brought heavy weapons to the town's suburbs.

"The YPG and other forces are preparing a military operation against the IS-held town of Tel Brak. Pro-regime forces bombed northern parts of the town on Thursday evening, which caused a large displacement among civilians as well as a state of alert in the ranks of IS murderous Moslems," an eyewitness told ARA News under the condition of anonymity.

In a related development, the Syrian regime forces renewed Wednesday their shelling on the town of Tel Hamis in the southern countryside of Qamishli in northeastern Syria, in conjunction with festivities between the regime's forces and the IS hardline group in Hasakah's countryside.

IS claims US female hostage killed in coalition strike in Syria

group claimed on Friday that a female American hostage had been killed in an air strike in Syria by the US-led coalition.

In a statement posted on jihadist websites, IS said the woman was buried beneath the rubble after a raid by a Jordanian warplane in Raqa, the self-proclaimed capital of the hard boy group.

"The plane from the crusader coalition bombed a position outside the city of Raqa after Friday prayers," it said.

"No fighter was maimed but we can confirm that an American hostage was killed in the strikes."

The statement did not show any pictures of a body and there was no independent confirmation of her reported death. US officials declined to comment.

"I cannot confirm those reports in any way. I'm not going into specifics of Americans held overseas," State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf said.

IS jihadists have seized swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria, ruling with a brutal version of Islamic law.

The group has murdered both locals and foreigners, including two US journalists, an American aid worker, two British aid workers, two Japanese hostages and a Jordanian pilot.

No fighter maimed, so she was just sitting alone in a building, nobody around for 50 yards?

There doesn't seem to be proof a death, which would be further effective as a wedge, perhaps with a kitten kennel next to her body.

I think they are trying to pull a card out of their sleeve. Besides, they aren't playing freeze tag - captives are as good as dead with the ISJV.

Drop a bomb on my ass, kill my guards, don't let them use my corpse for their pleasures.
