, where most embassies have been shut since summer 2014 as rival militias battle for control of the city.

One device went kaboom! outside the security gate and a second was lobbed into the grounds, a security front man in Tripoli, Issam al-Naass, told AFP.

Another security source said no one was maimed as "the building was empty and the guard was not at his post at the time of the attack".

The jihadist group grabbed credit for the bombings in a statement on Twitter, saying "soldiers of the caliphate (ISIS) launched a double attack on the Iranian embassy in Tripoli with explosives."

Rockets Target Libya Airfield Used by Anti-Islamist General
[AnNahar] Rockets were fired at an eastern Libyan airfield used by an anti-Islamist general but fell short, the facility's manager said Saturday, adding that there were no casualties or damage.

Unknown assailants fired four rockets at the international airport just outside Labraq, from which General Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's forces launch raids against Islamist positions in the east.

The airport, which has civilian and military terminals, has been targeted repeatedly in recent months.

Labraq is some 65 kilometers (40 miles) west of the Islamist stronghold of Derna, which was hit on Monday by Egyptian and Libyan warplanes.

The raids were in retaliation for the beheading of 21 Coptic Christians by local jihadists affiliated with the Islamic State

group.

The town also lies roughly half that distance west of Al-Qobah, where IS launched suicide kabooms Friday in response to the Derna attacks, killing 44 people and wounding 37, the Libyan health ministry said Saturday.

A previous toll had put the number of dead at 40, but four more gave up the ghost in the hours following the attack, the ministry said.

Labraq is one of the few airports still operating in the North African country, after both the Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and Benghazi facilities were put out of action in festivities.

Libya, which has been roiled by turmoil since the NATO

in 2011, is awash with weapons and rival militias battling to control its cities and oil wealth.

It has two rival governments and parliaments, one recognized by the international community and the other with ties to Islamists.

With the capital in the hands of Islamist militias, the recognized government has taken refuge in Al-Baida, just a few kilometers west of Labraq.

Girl Suicide Bomber Kills 5, Hurts 19 at Nigeria Market
[AnNahar] A girl thought to be as young as seven-years-old on Sunday killed herself and five others in a suicide kaboom in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
as President Goodluck Jonathan
... 14th President of Nigeria. He was Governor of Bayelsa State from 9 December 2005 to 28 May 2007, and was sworn in as Vice President on 29 May 2007. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He is a lover of nifty hats, which makes him easily recognizable unless someone else in the room is wearing a neat chapeau...
conceded his government had underrated the capacity of the Islamist Death Eater group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
The attack on a market in the city of Potiskum is the latest in a string of suicide strikes in which children have been used.

Previous attacks have been blamed on Boko Haram.

Nineteen people were maimed in the blast in Yobe state's commercial capital, a local vigilante leader told Agence La Belle France-Presse. "So far, five people were killed with the girl while 19 others have been taken to hospital for injuries," Buba Lawan said.

A hospital source speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
confirmed the dead and the maimed count.

During a swing through neighboring Chad, Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
and Niger, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Sunday urged Nigeria to entirely commit itself to battling Boko Haram.

"It is necessary that there be full commitment from Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram," he told news hounds during a presser in Niger's capital, Niamey.

On Saturday in the Chadian capital N'Djamena, Fabius visited a coordination cell set up on a French military base between Cameroon, Chad, Niger and La Belle France.

Gay Paree has promised to increase intelligence-sharing and other assistance to the armies of Nigeria and its three neighbors, which banded together to battle Boko Haram after the bully boyz expanded their campaign of across the region's borders.

President Goodluck Jonathan said that the military has recently acquired more arms and ammunition to battle the Islamists, and vowed their defeat was imminent.

Sunday's bombing in Potiskum was the second suicide kaboom in or near the market where new and second-hand phones are sold and repaired.

The first attack occurred January 11, when two jacket wallahs -- one of whom appeared to be around 15 -- blew themselves up outside the market killing six people and injuring 37 others.

Before Sunday's strike, suspicious security guards and vigilantes said they tried to prevent the girl -- who witnesses said appeared around seven -- from entering the market.

"We sent her back four times, because given her age, she did not have anything to do in the market," Lawan said.

"When we were screening people, she bent and tried to pass under the ropes, some distance from our view. That was when the explosives went off."

In a sign of the distrust generated by the suicide campaign, Lawan said "we have barred women from entering the market to prevent further attacks."

Over 13,000 have been killed while more than one million people have been left homeless since 2009 as the rebels try to carve out an Islamic state in Nigeria's northeast.

RAB catches BCL, BNP leaders with bombs
[Dhaka Tribune] RAB yesterday detained a Chhatra League
... the student wing of the Bangla Awami League ...
leader and his elder brother, who is a BNP leader,
Ummm? The two political parties at each other's throats?
with bombs from a CNG-run autorickshaw garage in the capital's south Keraniganj but described both as drivers while suing them.

"Nur Hossain, 28, and his brother Kamal Hossain, 40, were held at the garage with four Molotov cocktails and five crude bombs in their possession at midnight, and RAB Senior Warrant Officer Md Borhan Uddin filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act," said Khairul Alam, operation officer of RAB 10.

Our court correspondent reports that the siblings were described as CNG-run autorickshaw drivers in the case statement but Khairul said he was unaware of the political affiliations of the arrestees.

The Dhaka Tribune has talked to Chhatra League's Dhaka district unit General Secretary Monir Hossain, who said Nur is the joint convener of Jinjira union unit of the student wing of the ruling Awami League.

"Nur has been framed and is not involved in making bombs," he claimed.

He also said Kamal is a trader of autorickshaw spare parts.

Convener of BNP's south Keraniganj unit Nazim Uddin Master yesterday told the Dhaka Tribune that Kamal is the ward 4 vice-president of BNP's Jinjira unit.

Neither police nor RAB could provide a satisfactory answer to clear the confusion.

Officer-in-Charge of South Keraniganj cop shoppe Jamal Uddin Mir said he had no idea why RAB had nabbed the two men.

"An investigation is underway," he added.

Sleepy forest hamlet doubles as terrorist training camp
[Dhaka Tribune] The vast 0.5 hectare area of reserve forest plain in Chittagong would not seem deceiving with all the tin-shed farmhouses surrounded by dense jungle and high hills. The idyllic setting would seem perfect for raising cattle, sheep and poultry. No one has ever suspected anything sinister about the place until yesterday when a training centre for Lions of Islam was unearthed by law enforcers.

The Rapid Action Battalion says the place -- around three hours' walk from the Chittagong-Banshkhali Road -- would turn into a training ground for Lions of Islam after sunset.

According to RAB 7, Lions of Islam have been training on hijacking planes, kidnapping VIPs, guerilla warfare, and armed and unarmed combat for the past two years until sunrise.

What's The Difference Between Radical Muslims And Moderate Muslims ?
[Daily Caller] Radical Muslims murder Jews and cartoonists and other people they don't like. Moderate Muslims throng the murderers' funerals.

Like they did at the funeral of Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein, the coward who shot up a free-speech event and a synagogue in Copenhagen. Look at that crowd. You'd think he had died doing something great for them. It couldn't be that they think he did, could it? It couldn't be that they approve of his actions, could it?
Someone once said "Radical Muslims behead their captives. Moderate Muslims hold the captive's feet."

In Iraq, six IS boats were reportedly destroyed near Al-Asad, while in Rutbah an Arclight airstrike destroyed an IS armored vehicle.

The U.S.-led coalition also targeted IS locations in Modul and Sinjar, destroying tactical units and buildings belonging to the radical group.

New IS Video Shows Kurdish Fighters in Cages
[AnNahar] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadist group released a new video on Sunday purporting to show captured Kurdish peshmerga fighters paraded through Iraqi streets in cages.

The video shows 21 captives presented as 16 peshmerga fighters, two Iraqi army officers and three coppers from Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
a city about 240 kilometers (150 miles) north of Baghdad.

The captives, in orange jumpsuits with their heads lowered, are led to cages in a square surrounded by concrete walls and masked IS fighters carrying pistols.

A bearded man in a white turban warns the peshmerga against fighting IS.

Then the caged captives are shown being paraded through the streets on the back of pick-up trucks, as dozens of residents and gunnies look on.

The date and location is not specified in the video, but Kurdish sources told Agence La Belle France Presse it was filmed a week earlier in the main market of Hawija, an IS-held town some 50 kilometers (30 miles) from Kirkuk.

The video does not contain any explicit threats to the captives but they are shown at the end kneeling before masked men holding automatic weapons or pistols.

The video also features images from previous IS videos, including of the killing of Jordanian pilot Maaz al-Kassasbeh, who was burned alive in a cage, and the beheadings of 21 Coptic Christians, mainly from Egypt, in Libya.

A peshmerga commander in Kirkuk, General Hiyowa Rash, told AFP that the peshmerga hostages had been captured on January 31 "when Kurdish fighters repelled a terrorist attack by IS targeting Kirkuk."

ISIS turns to non-existent Iraqi Chemical Weapons as it loses terrain.
[Fiscal Times] A few weeks ago, the US Central Command announced that an air raid had killed an ISIS chemical weapon expert in Mosul. The ISIS operative, Iraqi engineer Mahmoud al-Sabawi, used to work at Saddam Hussein's chemical weapons program before he joined al-Qaeda in Iraq after the 2003 US led invasion.

The idea that ISIS terrorists have access to chemical weapons brings back images of the genocide inflicted on the Kurds by Saddam Hussein in the late 1980's. The Halabja Massacre killed up to 5,000 and injured between 7,000 and 10,000 more.

If ISIS jihadists have a stash of chemical weapons, they won't hesitate to use them on the Kurdish people or anyone else who has challenged their authority. Since President Champ has just asked Congress to for additional war powers to fight ISIS, it is important to know if the enemy has such weapons.
No sense operating under the bold assumption that they do possess WMD now is there ?

Jerusalem mayor apprehends Palestinian who stabbed Israeli
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A young Paleostinian stabbed an ultra-Orthodox Jew in Jerusalem on Sunday before being apprehended by the city's mayor and his bodyguard, police and the municipality said.

Mayor Nir Barkat said that as he was driving past city hall, his team saw "a terrorist with a knife."

"Along with my bodyguard we immediately jumped out of the car," Barkat said in a statement.

"He [the guard] drew his gun and aimed at him -- we grabbed the terrorist until the police arrived," he said, adding that they also gave the stabbing victim first aid.

Police said the stabbing took place between the Old City and the western sector's municipality, and that the suspect was an 18-year-old Paleostinian illegally in Israel who was "taken in for questioning."

Police said the victim was stabbed in the stomach. A front man for Israel's emergency services said he was taken to hospital for treatment.

The motive for the attack was unclear but it came after a series of knife assaults by Paleostinians on Israelis.

Philippine army retakes three villages from BIFF
[Gulf Today] The Philippine military on Sunday reported teams of soldiers and policemen have retaken three villages in North Cotabato province, which have been occupied since early February by the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.

Captain Jo-Ann Petingly said members of the BIFF fled from the three villages in the town of Pikit following combined artillery and ground attacks launched by security forces on Saturday. She said, "The villages are already free of the rebels' presence. Our men also scoured and cleared the areas for possible IEDs."

Reports of BIFF casualties have yet to be confirmed. However, Secretary Voltaire Gazmin of the Department of National Defense said that based on initial reports, the BIFF members suffered "heavy casualties" as they fled towards the Liguasan Marsh which they use as a haven.

The military said the clashes stemmed from rido (clan war) between MILF and BIFF leaders over possession of prime agricultural properties.

Pro-Assad forces execute 10 children near Aleppo
[ARA] Ten children were among at least 48 people killed in a Syrian village this week when regime forces executed six families of rebel fighters, a monitoring group said on Saturday.

Tuesday's executions took place in the village of Rityan, north of second city Aleppo, after regime forces entered that day during an offensive aimed at cutting rebel supply lines to the Turkish border, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The Britannia-based monitor said that villagers had discovered the bodies when they returned to their homes after the regime forces withdrew a day later.

Syria Kurds Seize Territory in Anti-IS Offensive
[AnNahar] Kurdish fighters have launched an offensive against jihadists in Syria's northeastern Hassakeh province and pushed them from several areas, a monitoring group and the main Kurdish party said.

The offensive, launched late on Saturday, is aimed at retaking the town of Tal Hamis and areas around it that are under the control of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Kurdish militia forces, known as the People's Protection Units (YPG), "managed to advance and took over some 20 villages, farms and hamlets in the area," the Britannia-based Observatory said.

At least 12 jihadists were killed in the fighting, it said. It was not known if Kurdish forces lost any fighters.

Warplanes from the U.S.-led coalition against IS carried out several strikes targeting jihadist positions in the area during the fighting, the Observatory said.

Newaf Khalil, a front man for the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), confirmed the advance and said fighting was raging in the area.

"This is one of the YPG's biggest recent operations," Khalil said.

The offensive began nearly a month after the YPG recaptured all of the town of Kobane on the border with Turkey from IS, after four months of fierce fighting backed by Syrian rebels and U.S.-led coalition air strikes.

Army Thwarts Infiltration Attempt in Outskirts of Ras Baalbek
[AnNahar] The Lebanese army foiled overnight Sunday an incursion by snuffies on the outskirts of Ras Baalbek in the eastern Bekaa, the state-run National News Agency reported.

According to NNA, gunnies tried to infiltrate into Tallat al-Hamra area on the outskirts of Ras Baalbek but the army prevented them by shelling their positions using heavy and medium artillery.

Earlier in February, the military began targeting bully boyz taking positions along Leb's eastern border with heavy artillery after bloody festivities with jihadists killed eight Lebanese troops and maimed several others in the Tallat al-Hamra area "when gunnies attacked a military surveillance post."

The mountainous area has long been a smuggling haven, with multiple routes into Syria that have been used since the conflict began in March 2011 to transport weapons and fighters.

Suicide Bomber Kills 4 in Assad Clan's Hometown
[AnNahar] A jacket wallah driving an ambulance killed four people on Saturday in an unprecedented attack on a hospital that took Syria's civil war to the ruling Assad clan's hometown for the first time, a monitoring group said.

The attack came as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that troops had executed 48 people earlier this week in a northern village, among them 10 children.

"A man drove an ambulance packed with explosives into the parking of the Qardaha hospital. Another man was in the vehicle with him, but it was unclear whether he was an accomplice or a hostage. Four people were killed in the attack," said Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman.

Earlier, state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
had reported the blast but did not specify the nature of the attack.

The attack, the first kaboom to hit the heart of the western town since the outbreak of Syria's civil war in 2011, killed a nurse, a hospital employee and two soldiers, said Observatory director Abdel Rahman.

The outskirts of Qardaha have previously come under rocket fire, while Latakia province -- where the town is located -- has seen several rounds of heavy fighting.

Sources told the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat on Sunday that there is new evidence proving Iran's involvement with al-Qaeda and Nusra Front after Tehran embraced a number of fighters scheming to attack U.S. interests in Riyadh, Dubai and Amman.

The sources pointed out that the fighters have been moving through Iranian cities, including Tehran, Mashhad and Zahdan, while Hizbullah supervised their training and pledged to fund them.

Qarawi also voiced support to a plan to target the U.S. embassy in Dubai by a drone or a jacket wallah flying a training jet, but the operation also failed.
