Daniel Perry Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison
[OANN] United States Army Sergeant Daniel Perry was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Wednesday for the fatal shooting 28-year-old Air Force veteran Garrett Foster in 2020.

In 2020, according to Perry’s defense, Foster had approached Perry’s car with a rifle during Black Lives Matter protest. Perry said he then shot Foster in self-defense when the man had pointed his rifle at him.

The Army Sergeant said that he was working as a ride-share driver at the time, and had just dropped off a client, unaware that protests were taking place.

According to Perry’s attorneys, he kept a weapon in his vehicle for personal protection.

In April, Perry was convicted for the murder of Foster, which prompted outrage from Conservatives. Governor Greg Abbott
... governor of Texas. Abbott is a Republican. His 2014 Dem opponent, state senatrix Wendy Davis, thought the absolute, most pressing, most important issue facing the state was abortion. Abbott beat the pantyhose off her. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too...
(R-Texas.) had also said that he will sign a pardon once the recommendation from the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles reaches his desk, although it is unclear when that will happen.

On Wednesday, a Texas judge sentenced Perry to 25 years in prison for the shooting.

Perry ’s defense asked the court to consider his career in the military, and asked for a sentence of no more than 10 years. A forensic psychologist also testified that he believed Perry has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Army front man said that Perry is currently classified as in "civilian confinement" and is awaiting separation from the military.

The prosecutor in the case, Guillermo Gonzalez, urged the judge to issue the sentence of at least 25 years saying that Perry is still a danger.

"This man is a loaded gun, ready to go off at any perceived threat," Gonzalez said. "He’s going to do it again."

Garrett’s mother addressed the court at the sentencing hearing and that "After three long years we’re finally getting justice for Garrett."

She then addressed Perry.

"Mr. Perry, I pray to God that one day, he will get rid of all this hate that is in your heart," she said.

District Judge Clifford Brown said that Perry had received a "fair and impartial trial" and that the decision made by the jury "deserves our honor and it deserves to be respected."

Perry’s attorney, Douglas O’Connell, said that the fight is not over and that they plan on appealing the decision.

Kenya arrests Somalia-bound ISIS recruits
[Garowe] Three Kenya nationals are in police custody on suspicion that they were on their way to Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...

Those arrested were Ayub Bwanaadi, 32, and Mohammed Bwanaadi, 22 who are brothers as well as Kassim Ahmed, 29. They were arrested in Isiolo County on April 7 aboard a Moyale-bound bus by the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit [ATPU], who man the busy highway.

For a while, the three have been on the run after the police issued warrants of arrest against them for crimes committed in their home county of Lamu in coastal Kenya. Police were given 30 days to detain them after presenting them in Kahawa Law Courts on April 11.

During their interrogation, the three said that they traveled from Tanzania through Lungalunga to Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate and were to cross over to Æthiopia before eventually moving to Somalia to join the terror group. In Tanzania, the three were hiding after being linked to the murder of coppers, chiefs, and community policing officials in Lamu.

The three men during their interrogation told police that the plan to join ISIS in Puntland was mooted by Ali Omar Bwanadi who is Ayub and Mohammed’s brother, police believe is currently in Morogoro, Tanzania. He bravely ran away after he was linked to the murder of security officers.

According to the police, the three bravely ran away from Tanzania and opted to go to Puntland after learning that Dar es Salaam had been contacted by Nairobi to help them arrest the criminals. The three men then traveled to Mombasa through Lungalunga with the help of bodaboda riders and boarded a bus to Mombasa town.

Once in Mwembe Tayari, Mombasa they were by the handler whom they told Sherlocks is known to them as Abdi, he then transferred them into a waiting vehicle that was to move them to Eastleigh. Abdi directed them to Eastleigh where they stayed to avoid detectives.

In Æthiopia, authorities say, the three were directed on how to get new identity cards and subsequently, travel to the Puntland state of Somalia. The three men then boarded the Moyale-bound bus before their arrest in Isiolo on April 7.

The Bwanaadi brothers told police that they did not know who Kassim was, but police believe that it is a big coincidence that they all hail from the same village, had been on the same journey, share a criminal history, and had links with Al-Shabaab in Boni Forest.

Police records indicate that Kassim was first arrested in 2016 together with Ali Omar Bwanadi, Muhammed Kassim Abdalla, and Mustafa Kheri Shali at the Busia border point while trying to cross over to Uganda on their way to join ISIS in Libya. By the time of their arrest, the four had pending cases in Mombasa.

With the three set to be put on trial tomorrow [Thursday], police insist that they were behind the deaths of several officers and local administrators according to files obtained from the government. Police are working hard to trace their controller to Puntland where IS-Somalia faceless myrmidons are based.

IS-Somalia faceless myrmidons are confined to the Goli mountains of Puntland within the Bari region and their strategy to expand has often been thwarted by the rival al-Shabaab group. The group often carries sporadic attacks along Bosaso, the commercial capital of Puntland state but there are also some traces of the group in the capital Mogadishu.

Sudan capital rocked by air strikes, looting
[GOOBJOOG] Residents of Sudan’s capital reported heavy air strikes in central Khartoum on Tuesday amid a surge in looting while Soddy Arabia

The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
said negotiators were working toward a short-term ceasefire.

Witnesses said the army unleashed intense air bombardment in the centre of Khartoum and around the presidential palace. The rival Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary said the palace, which it claims to control, was hit by an air strike and destroyed, but an army source denied the claim.

The fighting in Khartoum, which erupted April 15, has prompted hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes and triggered an aid crisis. The number of people internally displaced within Sudan more than doubled in a week to 700,000, the U.N.’s migration agency said.
The two forces, which have failed to abide by repeated truce deals, sent representatives to talks in the Saudi port city of Jeddah on Saturday.

In the first report on the talks thus far, the Saudi foreign ministry said on Tuesday that the negotiations aimed to reach "an effective short-term ceasefire", Saudi state TV al-Ekhbariya said.

Amid warnings that Sudan is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe, U.N. aid chief Martin Griffiths proposed the warring parties back a declaration guaranteeing safe passage of aid supplies and the proposal has been discussed in Jeddah, a U.N. spokesperson said.

Griffiths "hopes the declaration can be endorsed as soon as possible so that the relief operation can scale up swiftly and safely to meet the needs of millions of people in Sudan," Deputy U.N. spokesperson Farhan Haq told news hounds.

on Tuesday raised the confirmed corpse count in the conflict to more than 600, with 5,000 injured, though the true figure is thought to be much higher.

Lawlessness has taken hold in Khartoum and the two adjoining cities of Omdurman and Bahri, witnesses said. "The biggest danger is the spread of robbery and looting and the total absence of the police and the law," said Ahmed Saleh, 45, from Bahri.

Homes, shops and warehouses have all been targeted, residents said. Sudan’s Banks Union condemned burglary and vandalism at some branches, saying banks were seeking to restore services if conditions allowed.

SADC to send troops to restore peace in Eastern DRC
[GOOBJOOG] The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has announced plans to deploy troops to the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
to help quell disturbances in the Eastern part of the country.

President Felix Tshisekedi of the DRC on Tuesday flew to Botswana where he is scheduled to meet his counterpart president Mokgweetsi Masisi to discuss details of the deployment with other leaders from the regional bloc.

Namibian president Hage Geingob who spoke after a special SADC meeting in the country’s capital Windhok said the security situation in eastern DRC needed urgent attention.

"The summit reiterated SADC’s solidarity to assist the government and people of the Republic of Congo in its efforts to restore peace and stability in the eastern part of the country, particularly in light of the upcoming national elections scheduled for December 2023," said Geingob, who serves as chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Security and Defense.

SADC Executive Secretary Elias Magosi added that the meeting resolved to send troops to the DRC to assist in ending hostilities.

"Summit approved the deployment of a SADC Force within the framework of the SADC Standby Force as a regional response in support of the DRC to restore peace and security in Eastern DRC. Summit approved a SADC Common Position to have a more coordinated approach, given the multiple deployments under multilateral and bilateral arrangements in the eastern DRC, and urged the Government of the DRC to put in place the necessary conditions and measures for effective coordination amongst sub-regional forces and bilateral partners operating in the DRC," said Magosi.

#1  Awaiting articles on Shinkelobwe and other 'closed' mines in southern Congo. Chinese must be all over the place. Last good article, Scientific American, 3/27/2009: Shinkolobwe is now considered an official nonplace. The provincial governor had ordered a squad of soldiers to evacuate the village and burn down all the huts in 2004, leaving nothing behind but stumps and garbage. A detachment of Army personnel was left behind to guard the edges and make sure nobody entered. The government had been embarrassed by a series of accidental deaths inside the mine. Some men were digging inside a jerry-built tunnel when it collapsed on them. Eight were killed, and thirteen injured.
Fatal accidents are all too common in the illegal mining trade of the Congo. Abandoned mines like this one are scattered all over the southern savanna and most of them are still being picked over by local farmers hoping to boost their income by selling a few bags of minerals on the side, usually copper and a smattering of cobalt. Shinkolobwe was different. This was the pit which, in the 1940s, had yielded most of the uranium for the atomic bombs the United States had dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. ...

But it was more than historical curiosity. The pit had been clo

Another low-intensity blast near GoldenTemple in Amritsar
Could this be more “romantic” Khalistani nonsense? Could Pakistan have ordered it for some reason?

Another low-intensity blast was reported near the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Thursday -- the third explosion in less than a week.

Police have arrested three suspects after the blast that occurred just behind the Guru Ram Dass Inn.

Some pamphlets were also recovered from the spot, allegedly thrown by a suspect who has confessed to carrying out all three blasts.

CCTV footage showed that the suspect allegedly threw the bomb from the second floor of Guru Ram Dass inn into 'galiara', or the pathway around the Golden Temple.

The suspect threw the bomb from the window of a washroom in the Guru Ram Das Inn.

CTD arrests terrorist in Bajaur raid
Bajaur is one of seven semi-autonomous tribal districts along Pakistain's mountainous western border. They became a hotbed of Islamist hard boyz following the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. They have their own branch of the TTP — cleverly named TTP Bajaur — and play host to Al Qaeda as well. The Mighty Paks have been quietly ineffective against them for decades.
[Dawn] The Counter-Terrorism Department claimed on Tuesday to have arrested a terrorist while making a bomb in Bajaur tribal district.

CTD Malakand-II superintendent of police Amjad Ali Khan told a presser that the terrorist was held during a joint operation conducted by the CTD and the security forces.

He said the terrorist was tasked to prepare jacket wallahs for sabotage acts in the region. He said the CTD and security forces carried out an intelligence-based search and strike operation in Damadola Narai Kandao area of Bajaur on Monday night and arrested the bully boy identified as Ikramullah, while making a bomb.

The official said a hand grenade, prima cord, safety fuses and 550 grams of explosives were also recovered from his possession. He said two other accomplices of the terrorist, identified as Adnan and Mushtaq of Khar, Bajaur, took advantage of the darkness and fled from the scene.
...as if they had never been.
The SP said preliminary interrogation suggested the bully boy had been tasked with preparing suicide bombers.

as tensions escalate in the area despite a reported ceasefire, while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have struck over 130 sites that belonged to the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip.

As of 9:30 p.m. the Barzilai hospital in southern Israel has reported that it treated 16 people so far that have been injured as a result of the rocket attacks.

The Israeli Air Force also reported carrying out a dronezap targeting the home of a Paleostinian Islamic Jihad member in the Gaza Strip, although no injuries were reported. The IDF had also struck a weapons production site in the Gaza Strip, as well as the headquarters of the group’s rocket unit.

The IDF also said that so far, 469 rockets and mortars have been launched into Israel, and that 333 made it across the border, with 153 being intercepted by the air defense systems.

The military also reported that they have successfully struck 133 targets that belonged to the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip.

Around 8:30 p.m. Israeli Defense Minister praised the IDF and said that they have "wiped out the leadership" of the Islamic Jihad and "dealt a significant blow to the assets of this murderous terrorist organization."

He noted that around 400 rockets have been launched into Israel, but around 100 fell in Gaza, "some were intercepted, and some hit Israeli homes."

He said that the IDF’s operation was a response to the Islamic Jihad’s rocket assault last week and that it was "surprising and devastating."

He went to say that the campaign is not over, but he hopes they can "bring it to an end soon, but we are ready for it to be protracted."

Around 8:00 p.m. a heavy rocket barrage was fired into south and central Israel. Explosions were reported in the southern city of Beersheba for the first time since the strikes began, although no injuries were reported as a result.

The IDF reported that they had launched a new wave of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s into the Gaza Strip as a result of the rockets, with four new sites being hit which included weapons storage depots and a site that was used by the Islamic Jihad’s naval commando.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed Israel and said that they were still in the "middle of the operation against the Islamic Jihad in Gaza."

"We have hit Islamic Jihad with the most significant blow it has ever suffered," he said hailing the development of "new intelligence capabilities and new operational capabilities."

IDF kills commander of Islamic Jihad’s rocket forces in Gaza

The IDF says an airstrike in the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza eliminated another top commander of the Islamic Jihad terror group, after a surprise strike killed three leaders of the organization on Tuesday morning.

“IDF warplanes attacked and eliminated Ali Ghali, commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s rocket force in the Gaza Strip, while he was in a safe house in Khan Younis. According to reports, the attack killed two other PIJ operatives who were with him,” the IDF says in a statement.

“Ghali was responsible for directing and carrying out rocket fire at Israeli territory, including the recent barrages during operation ‘Shield and Arrow,’” the statement says, referring to Israel’s name for this week’s Gaza operation.

“Ghali was considered a central figure in the organization and dealt with its management,” the IDF says.
As of 1:30 a.m. ET, The Times of Israel started today’s liveblog. An early post:
8:33 am IDF: 507 rockets launched toward Israel since start of operation

The Israel Defense Forces says that as of 7 a.m., Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip have launched 507 rockets and mortars at Israel.

The IDF says at least 368 of the projectiles crossed the border, while 110 fell short in Gaza.

According to the IDF, air defense systems — the Iron Dome but also the medium-range David’s Sling — intercepted 154 of the rockets, marking a 95 percent interception rate of projectiles heading for populated areas, while a handful landed in urban areas, causing damage.

The rest landed in open areas without causing damage, according to the IDF.

The military says it has carried out strikes against 158 sites belonging to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
