[BBC] At least 26 civilians have been injured in a missile attack by Yemen's rebel Houthi movement on an airport in south-west Saudi Arabia, the military says.
Three women and two children were among those hurt when the arrivals hall at Abha airport was hit early on Wednesday, according to a statement.
The rebels said they had launched a cruise missile at the facility.
Saudi Arabia leads a coalition of Arab states backing Yemen's government in its four-year war with the Houthis.
Yemen has been devastated by a conflict that escalated in March 2015, when the rebels seized control of much of the west of the country and forced President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi to flee abroad.
Alarmed by the rise of a group they believed to be backed militarily by regional Shia power Iran, Saudi Arabia and eight other mostly Sunni Arab states began an air campaign aimed at restoring Mr Hadi's government.
Coalition military spokesman Col Turki al-Maliki said a projectile fired by the Houthis hit Abha International Airport at 02:21 on Wednesday (23:21 GMT on Tuesday), according to a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.
Col Maliki said the attack on a civilian airport, which is about 110km (70 miles) from the border with Yemen, was a violation of international humanitarian law and that it might constitute a war crime.
Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV cited rebel military spokesman Brig-Gen Yahia Sari as saying it was a cruise missile.
Al-Masirah said it was the second time the Houthis had fired a cruise missile. The first reportedly targeted a nuclear power plant under construction in Abu Dhabi in 2017. There were no reports of a missile reaching the emirate at the time.
In response, the coalition launched air strikes on the rebel-held Yemeni capital, Sanaa, which reportedly killed at least six people, including four children.
The UN says the fighting in Yemen has left at least 7,000 civilians dead and 11,000 injured. About 65% of the deaths have been attributed to coalition air strikes.

Police in the southeastern city of Grenoble first arrested a man on weapons charges in September 2018. The investigation led them to the four other suspects, two of them minors.

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ An Iraqi security man was killed and four others were maimed after a criminal hurled a grenade at them in Baghdad, a security source was quoted as saying.
"A security force launched a campaign to arrest a dangerous criminal in the Hussainiat al-Ma’amel area, northeast of Baghdad," the source told Alghad Press on Tuesday.

[IsraelTimes] Israel announced Tuesday it will further scale back the Gazoo fishing zone from 10 nautical miles to six, in response to a number of arson attacks from the coastal enclave throughout the day.
"In light of the fires and the launching of incendiary balloons toward Israeli territory, this evening the permitted fishing zone for the Gazoo Strip has been reduced to six nautical miles until further notice," Israel’s military liaison to the Paleostinians said in a statement.
Over the course of Tuesday, there were seven fires in southern Israel sparked by balloon-borne incendiary devices from the Gazoo Strip, according to the local fire department.
The permitted fishing zone had been extended to 15 nautical miles last Tuesday, apparently as part of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and terror groups in the Strip. A day later, in response to incendiary attacks, Israel restricted the fishing zone to 10 nautical miles, where it had remained.
For the past several months, Israel has been extending and reducing the permitted fishing zone around the Gazoo Strip as fewer or more incendiary balloons have been sent over the border.
Such arson attacks appear to violate the reported terms of an unofficial truce between Israel and terror groups in the Strip.
[IsraelTimes] Israeli troops open fire at Paleostinian security forces in overnight operation, apparently mistaking them for suspects, injuring one.
Israeli troops exchanged fire with Paleostinian security forces in the northern West Bank city of Nablus early Tuesday morning in what the Israel Defense Forces said was an apparent case of mistaken identity.
According to Paleostinian media, one of the Paleostinian security officers was injured. No Israeli soldiers were maimed in the exchange, the army said.
"During operations to arrest terrorist operatives in the city of Nablus, a firefight broke out between IDF soldiers and people who were identified by the troops as suspects. After the fact, it was determined that it was Paleostinian security services personnel," the IDF said in a statement.
"The incident will be investigated," it said.
The governor of Nablus, Ibrahim Ramadan, said that Israeli forces opened fire on a Paleostinian security services building and injured a member of the PA’s security forces.
He rejected the IDF’s claim that Paleostinians shot at the Israeli troops as well, and said the Israeli forces fired at the building "surprisingly and unjustifiably," the official PA Wafa news site reported.
"This is not the first time and will not be the last that the occupation army harms our people, but the dangerous part in this incident is that a Paleostinian military headquarters was targeted," Ramadan told the outlet.
The injured Paleostinian security officer sustained light wounds, according to Wafa.
Israeli forces later withdrew from the city.
In overnight operations throughout the West Bank, Israeli troops arrested 18 Paleostinian suspects, the army said. The IDF said they were suspected of taking part in terrorist activities, rock-throwing and participating in riots.
[Jpost] The Paleostinian Authority has rejected an offer to conduct a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the exchange of gunfire between PA security officers and IDF soldiers in Nablus.
The incident took place on Tuesday during a routine IDF operation in Nablus. Two officers belonging to the PA’s Preventive Security Force were slightly injured during the firefight, Paleostinian sources said.
The incident, he said, began when PA security officers noticed a suspicious vehicle near their headquarters in Nablus.
"When our officers became suspicious of the car, its occupants shot up them," Damiri said. "The exchange of gunfire lasted for nearly two hours after Israeli army reinforcements arrived at the scene. Our security officers acted in self-defense, and were defending Nablus and Paleostinian security."
During a tour of the building, PA Governor of Nablus Ibrahim Ramadan told reporters that a large Israeli military force surrounded the headquarters of the Preventive Security Force on Tuesday morning. “The soldiers started shooting at the building without warning and with no justification,” he said.
Ramadan denied that the PA security officers were the first to open fire. “This is a very dangerous incident against a Palestinian security installation,” he added.
Burhan Mashaki, spokesman for the PA security forces in Nablus, said that the incident took place shortly after 2.00 a.m.
“Our officers inside the building were surprised by a fierce Israeli offensive from three directions,” he said. “The soldiers opened fire without warning at all the offices of the Preventive Security Force.”
Mashaki said he did not rule out the possibility that the IDF was planning to storm the building to free Palestinians suspected of involvement in real estate transactions with Israelis.
[Jpost] Syrian air defenses responded to Israeli missile attacks on Tel al-Harah in southern Syria at 2:00 a.m. Syrian time on Wednesday morning, dropping some of the missiles, according to the Syrian state news agency SANA.

[AnNahar] Unknown assailants rubbed out Jamaa Islamiya official Sheikh Mohammed Jarrar at midnight in the southern border town of Shebaa, the National News Agency said.
NNA said Jarrar, the group’s public relations official who is in charge of the Shebaa department, was bumped off while standing at the door of Shebaa’s al-Rahma Medical Dispensary which he ran.
He was hit by four gunshots to the abdomen as the attackers fled to an unknown destination, the agency added.
"The Lebanese Army has encircled the location and has intensified its foot and mechanized patrols in search of the perpetrators," NNA said.
Jamaa Islamiya meanwhile issued a statement saying Jarrar was murdered by "the hand of treachery, collaboration and treason as he was performing his duty."
"He was offering social, health, medical and relief services to every aggrieved and needy and to every widow and child from his region’s residents or from the (Syrian) refugee brothers," the statement said.
Jamaa Islamiya is the Lebanese branch of the Moslem Brüderbund, a regional Islamist organization.
It wasn't immediately clear if the killing was politically-motivated. Such liquidations have been rare in recent years in Leb.
The Jamaa Islamiya isn't represented in parliament.

[Jpost] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... killed 10 Kurdish snuffies in Syria's Tel Rifaat region on Sunday in retaliation for an attack that killed a Ottoman Turkish soldier, the Ottoman Turkish Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.
Turkey says the Kurdish YPG militia in Syria is part of the PKK murderous Moslem group, which it designates a terrorist group and which it has been fighting for more than 30 years.
The United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... warned on Monday that up to 2 million refugees could flee to Turkey if fighting intensifies in northwestern Syria as aid funds run dangerously low.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense said the operation was carried out in retaliation for the YPG attack on their forces in the Afrin region on Sunday.
The YPG attack in the Afrin region on Sunday resulted in the death of one Turkish Army soldier and the hospitalization of several members of the Free Syrian Army ... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund... (FSA).

Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
