#2  How should we extract the price of these lives and the damage to our Harriers? And consider our Ambassador and his security personnel in Libya who were killed. Are we still on the apology tour and putting out PC BS or is someone going to grow a set and get serious about smacking someone real hard?

#6  So ... a total of three coordinated attacks in one week: Afghanistan, Sinai, Libya. Maybe all these attacks are just random timing. But they all involved coordinated strategies, and they certainly benefited from the confusion surrounding the embassy riots.

You have to ask yourself - is AQ as "dead" as everyone believes? Were the embassy riots done as a cover, while AQ mounted several major attacks in different parts of the Middle East?? That is something that analysts are going to have to look at very carefully.

#9  Insurgents Wore US Uniforms To Attack British Airfield

Coalition military authorities in Afghanistan say the insurgents who attacked a British airfield in southwestern Afghanistan on Friday, killing two U.S. Marines, wore U.S. Army uniforms and destroyed six Harrier figher jets.

They said in a statement Saturday that about 15 insurgents carried out the attack, describing the attack as well coordinated by insurgents who were "well equipped, trained and rehearsed." Fourteen of the 15 were killed. One was captured.

They said attackers penetrated the base's perimeter and were armed with automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers and suicide vests. Besides destroying six planes, they destroyed three refueling stations on the base and damaged six aircraft hangars.

Coalition authorities have not yet identified the two Marines killed. Eight military members and one civilian contractor were also injured in the assault.

#11  The United States won't do anything with its current leadership in power. After Jan 20, 2013, I hope Mitt Romney announces, on DAY 1, that from this point forward, the United States will retaliate in kind to ANY muslim attack, anywhere in the world. At the same time, he needs to meet with the head of Strategic Command and plan a multi-plane ARCLIGHT strike on the Afghan/Pak border. Start just a few miles east of the Iranian border and continue to within a few miles of Khyber Pass. It may mean taking a few hundred aircraft out of "Strategic reserve", but that's ok. Let the rabble experience just once the full, unleashed might of the US military, so they understand that Day-1 promise. People will be climbing over one another to turn in Al Qaeda, just for THEIR safety. Being a wimp will get your clock cleaned, and not much else. Obama is a wimp cubed.

Taliban link Afghanistan attack to anti-Islam film
[Al Ahram] Camp Bastion, in southern Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province, came under mortar, rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire late on Friday in an attack in which several servicemen were maimed. "The aim of this attack was Dire Revenge™ against Americans for the anti-Prophet movie," said Taliban front man Qari Yousuf.

US President Barack Obama
The Cambridge police acted stupidly...
has vowed to "stand fast" against violence which has spread since the amateurish film of obscure origin triggered an attack on the U.S. consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi that killed the ambassador and three other Americans on 11 September, the eleventh anniversary of the Al-Qaeda attacks on the United States.

Britannia's Prince Harry was at Camp Bastion at the time of Friday's attack, but was unharmed. Earlier this week, the Afghan Taliban said they were doing everything in their power to either kill or kidnap Queen Elizabeth's grandson in what they dubbed their "Harry Operations."

"Prince Harry was never in any danger," Martyn Crighton, a front man for the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), said, adding that it would investigate whether his presence on the base had motivated the attack.

Britannia's Sky News said a Taliban capo had told the broadcaster that Prince Harry was main target of the attack. Sky's Kabul correspondent said she checked with a Taliban front man, who said the attack on Bastion was indeed in Dire Revenge™ for the Islam film, but that Bastion was chosen as the target because Prince Harry was there.

Sky's correspondent in Cairo said he had received a fresh statement from a "senior Taliban front man/commander", saying that the confusion over the claims was because there were two Taliban groups attacking the base.

"After saying this attack was mounted in reaction to the video on Islam, it is entirely predictable that the Taliban have changed their tune to say it was aimed at Captain Wales," a British defence source said on Saturday, referring to Prince Harry.

"The cut-throats who mounted this attack, most of whom were killed by ISAF, were nowhere near Captain Wales, who, with other UK and ISAF personnel, was under lockdown."

ISAF has not confirmed the nationality of the two people killed in the attack on the base.

A front man for the Helmand governor said 17 bodies had been discovered and they were all thought to be cut-throats killed in the fighting. In a separate attack in Helmand province on Friday, a roadside kaboom killed a British soldier, the Ministry of Defence said.

It was not clear whether the kaboom was related to a report by Helmand's governor that a roadside kaboom had killed 12 civilians, including women and kiddies, when their vehicle drove over an bomb in the same area.

Afghan Local Policeman Kills 2 British Troops in Helmand
[Tolo News] A member of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) turned his gun on British soldiers in southern Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province today, killing two troops and wounding four, local officials said Saturday.

The policeman, Gul Agha, was killed in return fire from another solider at the scene, Helmand deputy police chief Ismael Hotak told TOLOnews.

The shooting happened in the Gereshk district where 12 civilians from two families were killed yesterday after their vehicle hit a roadside kaboom.

Isaf confirmed the two coalition deaths in a statement Saturday but did not release the nationality of the soldiers or the exact location of the incident, saying only it was in the south of Afghanistan.

Another local official said it happened around 2PM.

US forces suspended training of the ALP a fortnight ago after a spate of similar shootings in August killed at least 15 NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and organization....
-led soldiers. Today's shooting brings the total killed in "insider attacks" to 47.

Training was suspended to try and implement more thorough screening of new recruits to weed out any links to the krazed killer Taliban.

Top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan Gen. John Allen has said in recent weeks that the NATO mission will not be defined by the rising incidence of the shootings, despite the negative impact they have on troop morale and mutual trust between the security forces.

It comes after two US soldiers were killed in the same district today when hard boyz launched an attack on the NATO joint command base Camp Bastion, about 20 kilometres from Gereshk.

Nearly 20 bully boyz entered the base around 10PM last night armed with guns, explosives and boom jackets. In the subsequent clash with the security forces within the base, two US soldiers and all but one of the bully boyz were killed. The clash went on for some hours into Saturday morning.

Somalia's Shebab urge attacks on West over anti-Islam film
[Al Ahram] "The Shebab mujahideen are urging people of Somalia to show their love for Islam and particularly to our Prophet Mohammed by making attacks against the West," Shebab front man Ali Mohamud Rage told AFP Saturday by telephone, without specifying any targets.

"The unprovoked attacks against Prophet Mohammed are not initiated by media houses and movie makers but they are clear instructions by Western governments," he said. "There should be great sacrifices when your country is under occupation and your religion is also under siege."

On Friday protesters burnt a US flag at a rally in Bulloburte, a town under Shebab control in central Somalia.

Since August last year, the Shebab have been forced out of Mogadishu and their other main strongholds in the south and centre of the country by Kenyan, Æthiopian and African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
soldiers backed by Somalia's weak pro-government military.

But they still control vast portions of central and southern Somalia.

On Friday and Saturday in Mogadishu, a handful of people staged peaceful demonstrations chanting slogans that criticised the movie "Innocence of Mohammedans", a low-budget production that depicts the Prophet Mohammed as a thuggish deviant in clips released online.

Abdullahi Sheikh Osman, a respected spiritual leader in Mogadishu, came on Saturday to talk to the protesters. "Don't kill innocent people for something they have not done," he urged Mohammedans. "The man who made the nasty film is the Al-Qaeda of Christians. If Mohammedans make havoc, then they are rewarding the crazy man," he told AFP.

"The person who made the filthy movie is not a religious person, but a reckless individual who dislikes harmony among people of different religious beliefs," he added.

10 dead, 50 missing after S.Sudan military boat sinks: army
[Al Ahram] At least 10 soldiers were killed and another 50 were reported missing after friendly fire caused a South Sudanese military boat to sink on the Nile river, the army said Saturday. "It was an accident. The boat was travelling at night and passed before a (control) post at Lul, which tried to stop the boat. When it did not stop they fired at the boat and it sank," army front man Philip Aguer told AFP, adding that there were about 170 soldiers on board.

Friday's Attack on US embassy in Tunisia killed four: ministry
[Al Ahram] Four people were killed and almost 50 injured in an attack on the US embassy in the Tunisian capital on Friday by protesters angry over an anti-Islam film, the health ministry said. "Three protesters were rubbed out, the fourth was hit by a car and 49 people were maimed, including nine seriously," a front man for the ministry told AFP on Saturday.

More than 20 coppers were among those hurt, said the front man, updating the toll the ministry had given the previous day of two dead and 40 injured.

Violent festivities broke out on Friday between security forces and protesters, most of them appearing to be Salafist Islamists, who were protesting over the anti-Islam film produced in the United States.

Some of the protesters hurled petrol bombs and then stormed the sprawling US embassy complex in Tunis before police fired live rounds and tear gas to drive them away.

Egypt: US embassy death toll increases to two
[Al Ahram] Ongoing festivities between security forces and protesters at the US embassy in Cairo, Egypt has left two dead, according to official investigations. Up until late Friday only one person was believed to have died.
Investigators still don't know the identity of those who were killed nor the cause of their deaths. The results of the forensic reports are being awaited to announce the cause of their death.

Earlier, however, Al Ahram Arabic-language newspaper reported that 35-year-old Ismail Rashad was killed by bird-shot fired during Friday's festivities.

Clashes that began on Wednesday have so far left over 220 injured and seen over 262 arrests. Friday's injured were transferred to Qasr Al-Eini Hospital and all, except for three, were later discharged.

Saturday morning witnessed a crackdown by security forces on Tahrir Square, putting an end to festivities and leaving the square empty of protesters and even street vendors.

Earlier on Wednesday, crowds of angry, mainly Mohammedan, protesters gathered at the US Embassy in Cairo to denounce the controversial film, titled The Innocence of Mohammedans.

Clashes at the US Embassy in Cairo erupted mid-week and continued through Friday. Two protesters were killed, some 260 were set to sit in solemn silence in a dull, dark dock, in a pestilential prison with a life-long lock

Egypt protests on the wane
Supposedly. The darned things just pop up all over, however, so likely we'll see more riots soon...
But those will be about something else. Each time it's about something else
.CAIRO -- Riot police stormed into Cairo's Tahrir Square and rounded up hundreds of protesters early on Saturday after four days of clashes sparked by a blasphemous film.

Security forces secured the square, just a few hundred yards from the US embassy, and formed cordons in the surrounding roads. Plain-clothes officers patrolled the area, grabbing anyone they saw as suspicious. There was no sign of protests by mid-morning and traffic through Tahrir resumed.

In clashes overnight, a 35-year-old man died of birdshot wounds near the heavily-fortified embassy, the target of the protests, as police used volleys of teargas to repel a crowd throwing stones and petrol bombs.

The protesters said they wanted to expel the US ambassador to punish Washington over the film which was produced in California. US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta called on Egypt's government on Friday to ensure the embassy's safety.

Many of the men rounded up looked bruised and one was stripped down to his underwear. "Not so rough," shouted another as he was hustled away.

The square, the focus of last year's popular uprising that ousted President Hosni Mubarak, was strewn with garbage and a torched vehicle was towed away.

Egypt's state news agency said 220 "troublemakers and lawbreakers" were detained during the early-morning operation. It said 54 people were jailed for four days pending prosecution over the embassy clashes.

"Our presence here is to clear the square of people who are breaking the law," Interior Minister Ahmed Gamal El Din said as he inspected the area. "We must preserve the square as a symbol of the revolution. That is the aim of our operation."

He said measures would be taken to ensure "those breaking the law" do not return.

More than 250 people have been reported injured in the clashes since Tuesday, when protesters climbed the embassy's walls and tore down an American flag in anger at the film.

Yemeni official: DNA tests did not prove the killing of Al-Shihri
[Yemen Post] DNA tests have not proved the killing of Saeed al-Shehri, the number two leader of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, a Yemeni official told the London-based Al-Sharaq Al-Awsat Newspaepr.

The official who requested anonymity said that Al-Shihri was not killed in the attack that killed several al-Qaeda suspects last week.

The state news agency, Saba, said that a specialized medical team headed to Seyoon of Hadhramout to take samples of the persons who were killed in an air-strike.

The military-run 26 September Newspaper had said that al-Shihiri was killed, but the Interior Minister Abdul-Qader Qahatan said he had no confirmed information about his killing.

Turkish jets, soldiers pound Kurdish rebel bases
DIYARBAKIR: Turkish armed forces have killed 75 Kurdish militants near the border with Iran and Iraq over the past week, a provincial governor said yesterday, as a major offensive involving several thousand ground troops intensifies.

Eight F-16 fighter jets took off from an air base in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir yesterday, a Reuters witness said, apparently to support the operation against militants from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

“Anti-terror operations are continuing in the region,” the governor’s office in the southeastern province of Hakkari said in a statement.

Turkey’s chief of staff, the head of its land forces and its air force commander traveled to the town of Semdinli in Hakkari to oversee the latest offensive, the military said late on Thursday. It said seven battalions were involved. Turkish battalions typically comprise up to 1,000 soldiers.

Fighter jets and attack helicopters were targeting PKK camps in two villages in the Kazan valley in Cukurca, a district of Hakkari province on the Iraqi border, where around 250 militants are thought to be based, security sources told Reuters.

Home Front: WoT
Yout charged with trying to blow up Chicago bar
While past performance does not predict the future, it could be taken as a proof of God's benevolence that so many of these jihadis are seriously lacking in the brain department.
CHICAGO - Undercover FBI agents arrested an 18-year-old American man who tried to detonate what he believed was a car bomb outside a downtown Chicago bar, federal prosecutors said Saturday. Adel Daoud, a U.S. citizen from the Chicago suburb of Hillside, was arrested Friday night in an undercover operation in which agents pretending to be terrorists provided him with a phony car bomb.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago, which announced the arrest Saturday, said the device was harmless and the public was never at risk.

Daoud is charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to damage and destroy a building with an explosive.

Someone who answered a call to Daoud's home in Hillside on Saturday who said her name was Hiba and that she was Daoud's sister declined to discuss Daoud, the family or the arrest.

"We don't even know anything. We don't know that much. We know as little as you do," she said. "They're just accusations."

"We'd like to be left alone," she said.
I'll bet you would. Unfortunately the FBI will (er, should) be tossing your lives, your financial accounts, your email and your internet connections to see what y'all been up to...
The FBI began monitoring Daoud after he posted material online about violent jihad and the killing of Americans, federal prosecutors said.
The Islamicist equivalent of a honey-trap. Gets 'em every time...
In May, two undercover FBI agents contacted Daoud in response to the postings and exchanged several electronic messages with him in which he expressed an interest in engaging in violent jihad in the United States or abroad, according to an affidavit by an FBI special agent.

Prosecutors say that after being introduced to an undercover FBI agent who claimed to be a terrorist living in New York, Daoud set about identifying 29 potential targets, including military recruiting centers, bars, malls and tourist attractions in Chicago.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, Daoud met in the suburb of Villa Park
DuPage county, west of the city, and lacking any significant Arab population.
with the undercover agent who claimed to be from New York, and the two drove to downtown Chicago, where the restaurants and bars were packed with workers ringing in the weekend on a pleasantly warm evening. According to the affidavit, they entered a parking lot where a Jeep Cherokee containing the phony bomb was parked.

Daoud drove the vehicle and parked in front of a bar that was among the pre-selected targets, then walked a block away and attempted to detonate the device by pressing a triggering mechanism in the presence of the agent, according to the affidavit. He was then arrested.
F. Lee Bailey himself would have a hard time getting him acquitted. Nice set up by the FBI. Bet they got him pushing the plunger on video.
The court documents do not identify the bar.

Prosecutors said Daoud was offered several chances to change his mind and walk away from the plot.

The affidavit said the Daoud was active in jihadist Internet forums and was accessing articles written by Anwar al-Awlaki, the U.S.-born radical cleric who became a key figure in the Yemen-based al-Qaida offshoot known as al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula.

In his communications with one of the FBI agents about possible targets, Daoud allegedly said he wanted to carry out an attack that would kill a large number of people.

"I wanted something that's ... massive; I want something that's gonna make it in the news," he wrote, according to the affidavit. "I want to get to like, for me I want to get the most evil place, but I want to get a more populated place."
Welcome to Leavenworth, kid, see ya in fifty years...

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
37 killed in Syria clashes, shelling: NGO
[Al Ahram] Clashes erupted in Syria's main cities of Damascus
...Capital of the last overtly fascist regime in the world...
and Aleppo
...For centuries, Aleppo was Greater Syria's largest city and the Ottoman Empire's third, after Constantinople and Cairo. Although relatively close to Damascus in distance, Aleppans regard Damascenes as country cousins...
on Saturday, following a bloody day in which 132 people were killed nationwide, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
In Aleppo the army battled with rebels at the entrances to the rebel-held Bustan Al-Basha district and helicopter gunships attacked the opposition bastions of Hanano, Qadi Askar, Sheikh Khader, Bustan Al-Qasr and Sakhur, the monitoring group said.

After a week of fighting over the central district of Midan, the army had taken most of the area and set up checkpoints for the first time, an AFP correspondent said.

But the Observatory said that festivities between rebels and the army continued in the flashpoint district.

Residents of Midan had blocked off a contested street with tires and posted a small sign which read: "Beware of snipers," the correspondent said.

The Local Coordination Committees, a network of opposition activists on the ground, reported that an unknown number of people were killed or trapped under the rubble of a three-storey residential building that collapsed when the Sheikh Fares neighbourhood was shelled.

Regime forces also carried out air strikes against a rebel-held cop shoppe in Hanano for the second day in a row, after similar attacks on two police branches in Midan on Friday.

At least one rebel was killed in fighting in Aleppo, which has been the focal point of the Syrian conflict since mid-July, according to the Britannia-based Observatory.

Outside Aleppo, air strikes during the night killed at least 12 civilians and maimed around 60 in Al-Bab, doctors in the rebel-held town told AFP on Saturday.

Two fighter jets carried out a series of raids on the town in northern Syria between 4 pm (1300 GMT) Friday and 4 am (0100 GMT) Saturday, hitting homes and empty school buildings, a doctor at the town's hospital said, asking not to be identified.

In one of the homes hit, four people bit the dust, three of them women, the father of one of those killed told AFP.

Near Damascus, a child and five rebels -- including a Paleostinian defector from the Syrian army -- were killed by shelling and sniper fire in the southern suburb of Al-Hajar Al-Aswad where regime forces deployed in force, the Observatory said.

It said that a Paleostinian protester was also killed during a demonstration in the Yarmuk camp, the largest Paleostinian refugee camp in Syria.

Clashes broke out at the edges of the Damascus suburb, the watchdog said, while one civilian was killed in the northeast suburb of Douma and two non-combatants were killed elsewhere in the province.

In the southern province of Daraa, fierce festivities erupted between rebel fighters and government troops as the army tried to retake the Lajat area -- considered the most important rebel stronghold in the province.

In the central province of Homs, two non-combatants were killed in shelling on Qusayr, while five non-combatants were killed in shelling on the town of Qalaa al-Mazeeq in the central province of Hama, the Observatory said.

Three civilians, including two women, were killed in shelling in the northwest province of Idlib, while in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, a 14-year-old was killed in shelling, while the town of Albu Kamal came under fresh bombardments, the Observatory said.

The Observatory gave an initial toll of at least 37 people -- 19 civilians, 9 rebels and 9 soldiers -- killed in Saturday's violence.

On Friday, 100 civilians, 13 rebels and 19 soldiers were killed nationwide in Syria, the Observatory said, noting that the largest single toll was in Daraa, where 12 non-combatants were killed in an air strike.

Hey, maybe Alahhu (bees pee upon him) in His Infinite Wisdom, has sent the Juices and Crusaders to drag his sorry-ass children into the modern world. I just hope we don't have to nuke them like we did the Japanese.

In knife fighting, as in the Pacific campaign, one begins by targeting the hands, then the arms. When the hands and arms are left useless, the neck becomes the final target.
