Afghanistan
Saleh Blames Taliban for Maintaining Ties with Al Qaeda
[ToloNews] First Vice President Amrullah on Sunday said that the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
still maintains ties with al Qaeda and that their separation "is harder than desalination."

Saleh on Twitter wrote that Afghan forces killed three al-Qaeda members in a Taliban compound in southern Afghanistan ten months after the Taliban committed to separate itself from the network as part of their deal with the United States.

But Mawlawi Abdul Hakim Sharaee, a member of the Taliban’s leadership council, said that the group will not allow any imported muscle to use Afghanistan’s soil against any other country.

This is the first time that a member of the Taliban leadership has spoken about the future of imported muscle in Afghanistan. Sharaee said that based on the US-Taliban agreement, Afghanistan’s soil will not be used against any other country.

"The handover of the late Osama bin Laden
...... who is now among the dear departed, though not among the dearest......
was against Sharia. Now, too, it has not been agreed with them (the US) to hand over a Moslem to them, but it has been agreed not to host them," Sharaee said.

The Ministry of Defense last week said that four members of al-Qaeda who were planting mines with a group of Taliban were killed in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in Nawa district in Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
Two months ago, a key member of al-Qaeda, Abu Mohsin al Misri, was killed in an operation by Afghan forces in Andar district in the central province of Ghazni.

"Al Qaeda gunnies still have a presence among the Taliban and they are fighting against the government forces with the support of the Taliban," said Fawad Aman, a front man for the Defense Ministry.

"There is undeniable evidence that shows the Taliban has ties with terrorist groups, especially al -Qaeda," said Tariq Arian, a front man for the Ministry of Interior Affairs. "The killing of one of the al-Qaeda leaders in Ghazni, Helmand and some other provinces shows al Qaeda’s presence in areas under Taliban influence."

The UN in a report in June estimated that ISIS numbers are as low as 2,200 in Afghanistan.

Family: Taliban Exhumed, Mutilated Remains of Slain Police Chief
[ToloNews] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
has dug up the grave of a former police commander in Uruzgan and mutilated his body, the police commander’s family said.

Shah Mohammad Shah, the district police chief for Dihrawood district, was killed in an attack by gunnies in the district on June 30.

His family members said this act by the Taliban is against all principles of Islam and is a violation of humanitarian law.

The Taliban has rejected the claim.

"The Mawlawi called me and said that his nails had grown and his body was fine but his head was beaten with a shovel," said Ezatullah Agha, a member of Shah Mohammad’s family.

His brother, Jan Mohammad Karimi, who is the police chief of the district, said that 32 of his relatives have bit the dust in the war in recent years.

"I am disappointed because of the inattention by the government to a family that has given sacrifices for the country," Karimi said.

Some senators on Sunday raised the issue of the mistreatment of the body of the police chief.

"I call on the Taliban leadership from this tribune to order their fighters to avoid such acts," said Akbar Stanekzai, the deputy speaker of the Senate.

The Taliban rejected involvement in such an incident and said it might have happened due to a personal grievance.

"Such an act is not acceptable based on Islam, human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
and Afghan culture," said Naeem Nazari, the deputy head of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission.

Shah Mohammad had lost his eyesight in a blast five years ago and was the district police chief of Dehrawood when he died in an attack in Tarinkot city, center of Uruzgan, in June.

Turkey warns Libya's Haftar and supporters against attacking its forces
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
is the main foreign backer of the Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
-based GNA that has been fighting Haftar's LNA that is backed by Egypt, Russia and the UAE

Ottoman Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar warned on Sunday that the forces of Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly...
and their supporters based in eastern Libya would be viewed as "legitimate targets" if they attempted to attack Ottoman Turkish forces in the region.
Good. Start inflicting pain on Yippy's forces
Turkey is the main foreign backer of the Government of National Accord (GNA) based in Tripoli, which for years has been fighting Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA). The LNA is backed by Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

In October, the GNA and LNA signed a ceasefire agreement and the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
has been pushing a political dialogue aimed at elections next year as a solution. Russia on Wednesday called for international efforts toward a peace settlement in Libya to be intensified.

Speaking during a visit to Ottoman Turkish troops in Tripoli, Akar said Haftar had recently started making calls targeting Ottoman Turkish forces in Libya and calling for attacks on Ottoman Turkish troops, and also called on all parties to support political talks instead.

"They should get this in their heads. If they do something like this, they will have nowhere to run," he said. "Everyone should contribute to reaching a political solution here. Any move other than this is wrong," Akar said.

Turkey has sent military personnel and equipment to the GNA, helping to turn the tide of the war in Libya, while engaging in talks with Moscow for a solution to the conflict between the GNA and LNA.

Turkey has stopped short of withdrawing forces from the frontline, as demanded by the truce.

Last month, Turkey and Germany traded barbs over the search of a Ottoman Turkish freight ship by a European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
military mission in the Mediterranean aimed at enforcing the Libyan arms embargo, in a move Ankara called illegal.

This month, the LNA also intercepted a Ottoman Turkish ship, under a Jamaican flag, heading to the port of Misrata, prompting an angry rebuke from Ankara. The ship was later released.

Armenian air defenses shot down Azerbaijani Su-25 during Karabakh conflict, pilot was killed
[AlMasdar] Azerbaijan has allegedly admitted to the downing of one of its Su-25 fighter jets during the 40-day-long war inside the Karabakh region, the Russian publication Avia.Pro reported, citing the Azerbaijani military.

According to Avia.Pro, the Armenian air defense forces shot down the Azerbaijani Su-25 while it was flying over the contested Karabakh region.

"The Azerbaijani side has officially acknowledged the loss of its Su-25 attack aircraft in Karabakh, which was shot down by an anti-aircraft missile fired by the Armenian military. Colonel Zaur Nudiraliyev, who was in the cockpit, died, although, it is alleged, he could have ejected, however, according to Baku, he directed the falling plane to the accumulation of enemy forces," they said.

The Russian publication quoted the Azerbaijani colonel as saying that the Su-25 was shot down over the Jebrayel region of southern Karabakh, which witnessed some of the heaviest festivities during the conflict.

"On October 4, Zaur Nudiraliyev, in his SU-25, approached the target assigned to him in the direction of Jebrayel. At this moment, the central command post received information about the actions of enemy air defense systems. (...) At this time, Zaur Nudiraliyev had already hit his target and was returning back. After that, he stopped communicating. His plane had already been shot down. Despite his injury, the colonel could still eject. But he did not do this in order not to be captured. Having sacrificed his life, he sent the plane to the area where enemy forces and equipment were concentrated and died heroically, " said Lieutenant Colonel Elchin Mammadov.

It is not known how reliable this information is, however, no such episode was previously mentioned, although the Armenian military claimed several downed combat aircraft of the Azerbaijani Air Force in the area.

post in Harnai district of Balochistan, the military's media wing said on Sunday.

The "terrorist fire raid" targeted an FC post located in Shahrag area of Harnai late on Saturday.

"During [an] intense exchange of fire, seven brave soldiers embraced shahadat while repulsing raiding terrorists," an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said.

It said the area had been cordoned off and escape routes blocked to apprehend the fleeing miscreants.

A large scale search and clearance operation was in progress in the area.

"Such cowardly acts by inimical elements backed by anti-state forces will not be allowed to sabotage hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan," the ISPR said, adding that security forces were determined to "thwart their nefarious designs at all costs".

In a tweet, Prime Minister Imran Khan

said he was "saddened to hear of" the soldiers' martyrdom in the attack.

"My heartfelt condolences & prayers go to their families. Our nation stands with our courageous soldiers who face attacks from Indian backed terrorists," he wrote.

The martyred personnel were identified as Naib Subedar Gulzar, resident of Mianwali; Sepoy Faisal, resident of Hafizabad; Sepoy Abdul Wakeel, resident of Pishin; Sepoy Sher Zaman, resident of Kohat; Sepoy Jamal, resident of Dera Bugti; Abdul Rauf, resident of Dera Ghazi Khan; and Faqeer Muhammad, resident of Muzaffargarh.

The incident comes five days after 10 suspected bad boyz were potted in a shootout with security forces during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan's Awaran area.

"These bully boyz were involved in firing on security forces, which resulted in martyrdom of Lance Naik Mohammad Iqbal on Dec 20 in the Awaran area," the ISPR had said at the time.

Earlier in October, 14 coppers — seven personnel of the Frontier Corps and as many civilian guards employed by the OGDCL — were martyred in an armed attack on their convoy on the Coastal Highway in the Ormara area of Gwadar district.

The encounter took place between security forces and a large number of bully boyz on the Coastal Highway near Ormara when a convoy of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) staff was being escorted from Gwadar to Bloody Karachi

The directorate stated in a blurb that "the detachments of the intelligence agency represented by the Anbar Intelligence Directorate managed to seize (46) missiles intended to target the buildings of the Anbar Governorate, and some security and service departments."

They continued, "Intelligence detachments have arrested (13) wanted persons in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 terrorism for their affiliation with ISIS terrorist gangs in separate areas of al-Qaim, Ramadi and Fallujah districts."

The directorate added that "the holy warriors have admitted, through preliminary investigations, that they belong to those criminal gangs in which they worked in the so-called states of al-Baraka, the Euphrates, Anbar and Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...

This major bust on Thursday comes just a few days after Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi called on the armed forces of Iraq to secure all areas along their large border with Syria.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian Army prepares for all possibilities in Idlib as jihadist attacks intensify
[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing for all possibilities in the Idlib Governorate, following a string of heavy jihadist attacks on the military’s positions this week.

According to reports, the Syrian Arab Army faced a number of heavy attacks this week that were launched by hardline groups like Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
and the Hurras al-Deen Group.

In response to these repeated ceasefire violations, the Syrian Arab Army has taken upon themselves to strengthen their lines and move in reinforcements to the southern Idlib front, where they are preparing for a potential jihadist offensive.

A high-ranking field source corroborated these claims to Sputnik Arabic, as he said that the Syrian Arab Army has dealt with hostile movements during the past two days on the axes of Benin and Kafr Bateekh in southern Idlib.

He said that that the gangs sought an infiltration attempt, but the army’s monitoring and reconnaissance units thwarted these attempts through preemptive strikes that resulted in the death and injury of a number of krazed killers.

The source revealed that the Syrian Arab Army has raised its readiness on all the axes in Latakia, Idlib and Hama, as they prepare for any potential encounter with the jihadist and Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels.

"The Syrian army is ready for all possibilities and developments that may be imposed at any moment on the ground," he added.

Turkey said on Sunday its military killed 15 bandidos bandidos Death Eaters from the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, which it said was preparing to carry out an attack in a region of northeast Syria controlled by Turkey and its Syrian rebel allies.

In an offensive last year dubbed the Peace Spring Operation, Turkey seized a 120-km (75-mile) stretch of border territory in northeast Syria from the YPG, which it considers a terrorist organization linked to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militia.

"Our heroic commandos dealt another heavy blow to the PKK/YPG terrorist organization. Fifteen PKK/YPG forces of Evil trying to infiltrate the Peace Spring region from the south to carry out an attack were neutralised with the successful intervention of our commandos," Turkey's Defence Ministry said on Twitter.

Turkish-backed forces launch another heavy attack on strategic town in northern Syria
[AlMasdar] The Ottoman Turkish-backed Death Eaters continued where they left off on Friday, as their forces heavily targeted the strategic town of Ain Issa and its surroundings.

According to a local source in the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Ottoman Turkish-backed Death Eaters launched several artillery shells and rockets toward Ain Issa and its surrounding areas on Friday evening, with a primary focus on the positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Friday evening attack by the Ottoman Turkish-backed Death Eaters came just a day after they attempted to break through the defenses of the Syrian Democratic Forces at the village of al-Musharifah in the Ain Issa countryside.

The attack by the Ottoman Turkish-backed Death Eaters would end in failure, as they were forced to withdraw from the area after suffering heavy losses at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

has shifted its attention to the northern region of Syria, where the Syrian Democratic Forces control a large amount of territory east of the Euphrates River.

Many of the Syrian krazed killer groups in northern Syria sent their fighters to Karabakh, as they served as mercenaries in the Azerbaijani war effort against the local Armenian forces.

According to opposition activists, between 250 and 350 mercenaries were killed during the 40-day-long war.

SDF allegedly agrees to ‘handover’ strategic town to Russian and Syrian forces in coming days...or not
[AlMasdar] The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have agreed to hand over the strategic town of Ain Issa in the northern countryside of al-Raqqa to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Russian military within the next few days, Sputnik Arabic reported, citing an expert on Syrian affairs.

In an exclusive interview with Sputnik, the expert, Omar Rahmon, revealed an agreement that was concluded on Sunday, December 27, in Ain Issa, during which the SDF allegedly pledged to handover the town to the Russian side and the Syrian Army, after several days of negotiations.

Rahmon said that according to the available preliminary information, Ankara was preparing to carry out an attack on the town in the past hours, but the SDF’s acceptance of handing over the city to the Syrian Army ’stopped’ this attack.

Regarding the terms of the agreement, Rahmon said, "There is still no accurate information about the full terms of the agreement, but the Kurds told the Russian side that they are ready to withdraw from Ain Issa completely, and that practical steps on the ground will start within the next few hours."

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
despite Rahmon’s claims, the Ottoman Turkish-backed forces have attacked the SDF troops at al-Musharifah tonight, as they launched dozens of artillery shells and rockets toward the village in the Ain Issa countryside.

Furthermore, a source from the Syrian Arab Army told al-Masdar on Sunday that no agreement has been reached as of yet, pointing out that negotiations are at a standstill.

The source said the Russian military has moved in reinforcements to the Ain Issa front, but they have been posted outside the town.
