Pentagon halts plan to give COVID vaccine to alleged 9/11 mastermind, Gitmo detainees
[NYPost] The Pentagon officially hit pause on a plan to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to prisoners held at the US military facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"No Guantanamo detainees have been vaccinated. We’re pausing the plan to move forward, as we review force protection protocols. We remain committed to our obligations to keep our troops safe," Pentagon front man John Kirby said in a tweet Saturday.
It would seem simple enough to vaccinate the military personnel at the facility; that would meet the goal of keeping them safe...
The issue came to wide public attention after The Post reported that some of the most infamous Death Eaters in the world incarcerated there would begin receiving the lifesaving injections. Those potentially on the list included 9/11 criminal mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

There are currently still 40 people being held at the facility. Many prominent Democrats, including former President Obama, have vowed to close the detention center over the years.

The initial vaccine announcement from the Pentagon drew a sharp rebuke from New Yorkers, who bore the brunt of the 9/11 attacks which took 2,977 innocent lives.

Somalia loses confidence in Kenyan troops under AU mission
Kenya lost confidence in you guys a while back. That's why they're in your country. Think about it...
[Garowe] MOGADISHU, Somalia -- The Federal Government of Somalia now says it has lost confidence in the Kenya Defense Forces [KDF] and the African Union Mission in Somalia [AMISOM], days after a fact-finding team on border conflict with Kenya released a report, which was negative to Mogadishu's expectations.

In a statement, Somalia accused Kenya of "direct" interference in the IGAD's fact-finding report which vindicated Nairobi of "illegal" actions undertaken to undermine the integrity and sovereignty of the Horn of Africa nation, particularly in the unsettled Gedo region of the country. While insisting that Kenya has persistently violated her territorial sovereignty, Somalia said it has now lost confidence in the KDF team that serves and AMISOM particularly in Jubaland state, adding that time has come to "chat our way forward".

The FGS said the outcome of the IGAD fact-finding team mission undeniably damaged and undermined Djibouti's impartiality and status as an entrusted partner in the region, adding Somalia found the report as nothing more than a mouthpiece of Kenya.

Djibouti has already defended the outcome of the mission, arguing that the team undertook the exercise with "professionalism and impartiality" contrary to claims by Mogadishu. The report, it added, has already been submitted to IGAD chairman Abdalla Hamdok, who is the Prime Minister of Susan.
Susan, Debbie, and Rhonda will talk about over lunch and get back to you...
This comes even as the border tensions between the two nations continue to escalate following recent fightings at Baled-Hawo, a town situated along the Kenya-Somalia border. The fighting involved the Somali National Army and Jubaland forces, who Somalia believes are being equipped by Kenya.

Among others, the IGAD team established that Kenya has never recognized Jubaland, trained or equipped the Jubaland forces, participated in the illegal importation of sugar and failed to protect citizens in AMISOM zones. However, it did implicate Kenya of violating Somalia's airspace.

Kenya has close to 3,500 soldiers working in Somalia under AMISOM mainly in Jubaland. The troops have been hailed for pushing for stability in the region by helping to flush out the Al-Shabaab militants, who are seeking to topple the fragile UN-backed Somalia administration.
The Somali language has no word for 'gratitude'. It's the same thing in Minneapolis...

UN Urges Countries to Repatriate 27,000 Children from Syria
[ToloNews] The UN counterterrorism chief is urging countries to repatriate the 27,000 children stranded in a massive camp in northeastern Syria, many of them sons and daughters of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bully boyz who once controlled large swathes of Iraq and Syria.

Vladimir Voronkov told an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday that "the horrific situation of the children in Al Hol (camp) is one of the most pressing issues in the world today."

The 27,000 children "remain stranded, abandoned to their fate," vulnerable to be preyed on by Islamic State enforcers, "and at risk of radicalization within the camp," he said.
I hear Mauritania is nice this time of year...
Al Hol, the largest camp for refugees and displaced Syrians in the country, is currently home to almost 62,000 residents, according to UN humanitarian officials. More than 80% are women and kiddies, many who fled there after Islamic State turbans lost their last Syrian stronghold in 2019. There are a number of other camps in the northeast as well.

Voronkov said there are children from 60 countries in the camps who are the responsibility of their member states, not of Syria or the groups that control the camps. Kurdish fighters are guarding al-Hol and other camps as well as thousands of Islamic State fighters and boys in prisons.

He said a number of countries -- including Russia and Kazakhstan that convened the virtual meeting -- "have collectively repatriated nearly 1,000 children and their family members."
Golly. But as I recall, the majority of those in the camp are Iraqi, so perhaps that is the majority of Russian/Kazakh detainees.
Voronkov said the experiences of the returnees are being compiled "and what we see thus far is that fears of security risks have been unfounded."

The executive director of the UN Counterterrorism Center stressed that children "must be treated primarily as victims" and youngsters under the age of 14 should not be detained or prosecuted.

History has shown that children are resilient and can recover from violent mostly peaceful experiences if they are supported in reintegrating into communities, Voronkov said.
History also shows that some children grow as they were bent, even if removed from that environment as young children, and become dangerous to those around them. Children are palimpsets, not wax tablets easily smoothed and written afresh.
"Every effort should be made to ensure children are not kept in institutions but allowed to reintegrate with family members within their communities," he said.

Virginia Gamba, the U.N. special representative for children and armed conflict, told the Security Council that children catalogued as being associated with gangs including the Islamic State and al-Qaeda "are the children who have been left adrift by conflict, like flotsam in the sea."
The article continues in this vein for entirely longer than necessary.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran rejects new participants, any talks on nuclear deal
[AlAhram] Iran's foreign ministry on Saturday rejected any new negotiations or changes to the participants in Tehran's nuclear deal with world powers, after French President Emmanuel Macron said any new talks should include Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
"The nuclear accord is a multilateral international agreement ratified by U.N. Security Council Resolution 2231, which is non-negotiable and parties to it are clear and unchangeable," Iranian Foreign Ministry front man Saeed Khatibzadeh was quoted by state media as saying.
The U.S. Senate never ratified it, so technically America is not one of those parties, a fact that President Obama ignored as hard as could be done.
Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...

by early 2016 Iran's non compliance was so egregious that even the Obama Admin was embarrassed. The USA and other countries jointly wrote the UN about this in March 2016; of course the US didn't follow up on it until the Trump Admin took over but the non compliance is still on the record

UCF professor destroyed by leftist mob with University help
[LegalInsurrection] University of Central Florida Fires Dissident Prof. Charles Negy After 8-Month Retaliatory Investigation.

Negy's tweets, which UCF admits were constitutionally protected and for which they could not punish Prof. Negy, set in motion a particularly vicious online and on-the-ground mob, which included participation in protests by senior UCF administrators, including the President of UCF, Alexander Cartwright.

The tweets were

"If Afr. Americans as a group, had the same behavioral profile as Asian Americans (on average, performing the best academically, having the highest income, committing the lowest crime, etc.), would we still be proclaiming systematic racism exists?"

A second tweet, also no longer available, said:

"Black privilege is real: Besides affirm. action, special scholarships and other set asides, being shielded from legitimate criticism is a privilege. But as a group, they are missing out on much needed feedback.
