Former Libyan Prime Minister Prepares Case Against Tunisia
[LIBYAREVIEW] The Libyan Prime Minister during the rule of Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
, al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi, intends to file a case against Tunisia before the Libyan judiciary and the International Criminal Court (ICC), after he was acquitted of the charges brought against him.Al-Mahmoudi was imprisoned in Libya from 2011 to 2019, after Tunisia handed him over to Libya. Although al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi has distanced himself from politics, those close to him regularly seek his opinion on Libyan issues.

The former Prime Minister who now lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) enjoys freedom of movement, especially in Europe.

Based on a ruling issued by the Tunisian judiciary, the Tunisian government of Hamadi Jebali, one of the most prominent leaders of the Ennahda movement, handed him over to the Libyan authorities in June 2012, despite his legal refugee status.

Al-Mahmoudi, who served as Prime Minister under Qadaffy since 2006, was arrested in the Tozeur region in southern Tunisia in September 2011. After the decision to extradite him to Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, he announced at the time that he had entered a hunger strike in his prison in Tunisia.

Al-Baghdadi was sentenced to death in 2015, but a Libyan court later acquitted him of the charges against him.

Mabrouk Khorchid, al-Mahmoudi’s lawyer in Tunisia, said neither he nor Mr. Mahmoudi’s family had been given any warning that his client will be extradited.

"I believe this is a state crime and is against human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
," he told the New York Times

... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

. "This is a sad moment for human rights in Tunisia. I think he’s going to be tortured and treated illegally and believe that those who handed him over bear part of the responsibility."

Turkish FM: Our Forces in Libya aren't a 'Foreign Power'
“So no reason to remove those illegal aliens, even though we’ve promised repeatedly to do so.”
[LIBYAREVIEW] The Ottoman Turkish Minister of National Defence, Hulusi Akar, said that "although the region seems distant, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
has a 500-year history with Libya, a common history."He added that when Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
was about to fall towards the end of 2019, a letter was written to five countries and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
by the Government of National Accord (GNA), stating that the "only positive response to the letter written by Fayez al-Sarraj was President Erdogan."

Noting that the work on military training and cooperation in Libya continues, Akar said that even if there is no election, it is a great achievement to reach this point.

Akar underlined that this is with the support of Turkey and said, "From now on, our wish is to draw the framework and hold elections as soon as possible. For Libya to live happily as the only homeland in unity and solidarity. We say, ’Libya belongs to the Libyans,’ and we did our best for this. We will continue to do so. The Ottoman Turkish military is definitely not a foreign power in Libya. Our Libyan friends there are aware that we are there when no one is there" he said.
"i.e.: We aren't leaving"
Akar also talked about his military activities, especially the training given by the Ottoman Turkish soldiers in Libya.

Last month, the Ottoman Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) dismissed 56 soldiers stationed in Libya, after they filed a complaint against their commander on charges of bullying.

The TAF terminated the contracts of the specialist sergeants after an investigation was launched into the complaints submitted to the Presidency Communication Centre (CIMER), the Deutsche Welle (DW) reported.

The soldiers accused their Commander of physical and psychological bullying, being forced to collect the trash of Libyan soldiers, train through illness, and chronic verbal abuse," the DW stated.

"You don’t deserve the money you get. You are nothing. You can complain to me wherever you want, I worked in the legal branch for 9 years and I can fire you in five minutes," the Commander reportedly told the soldiers, according to the DW.

Nigerian Soldiers Publicly Assault, Brutalise Policeman In Oyo
[SAHARAREPORTERS] A trending video has showed some officers of the Nigerian Army assaulting and brutalising a yet to be identified police traffic officer in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In the video, about four soldiers were seen hitting the traffic officer despite falling down on the motorway.

This comes amid claims by the Nigerian Army that officers of the Nigeria Police Force were brutalising some of its personnel.

In a letter dated November 23, 2021 to all formations and units, the Chief of Army Staff called on military officers to "forward all recorded incidence of police brutality against personnel of the Nigerian Army".

The letter exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters was signed by Major General J. A. Ataguba.

The letter read, "The NA is constitutionally tasked to provide aid to civil authorities when called upon. This responsibility has occasioned conducting joint activities with members of the civil and paramilitary organizations. These joint operations with other security agencies particularly the Nigeria Police create occasions for the police to equate its hierarchy with the NA and this has often led to friction, especially at the lower levels.

"This friction has occasionally led to bodily harm and in some cases death to our troops. This is in spite of the fact that the victims have been identified and established to be serving personnel.

"This department is therefore conducting an evaluation of these occurrences with a view to establishing the frequency and recommend possible remedial measures to stem the tide. Consequently, all NA corps, formations and establishments are please requested to forward all recorded incidence of police brutality against personnel of the NA.

"The report should cover the last two years. Returns to reach this NLT 8 December 21 and should be forwarded using enclosed formal."
