Porno movie dispute lands woman in jail
A woman is accused of chasing her boyfriend with a knife after thinking he was an actor in a pornographic movie they were watching together.
That's why we don't watch porn, I'm afraid the wife might mistake me for John Holmes and break out the pruning shears.
The victim says it all started when he and his girlfriend were inside his southwest Albuquerque home watching a pornographic move at 10:30 Wednesday morning.
All sorts of trouble can start that way.
That’s when the victim called 911 saying his girlfriend, 20-year-old Amanda Montoya, had a knife.
and she was chanting" Bobbitt, Bobbitt..."
“She almost shanked me and everything. She put the (expletive) knife right under my throat," the victim told a 911 operator.

The victim, wearing only a pair of shorts took off down Five Points, begging the 911 dispatcher for help.
I'm glad there is no video.
He said Moya had already stabbed him in the face and bitten him on his chest. “She already has battery charges against her. She's not even supposed to be around me," the victim said.
Yet, Einstein here was in bed with her...
The dispatcher told the victim to keep running and try to get inside a store.
Excellent advice.
The victim made it to a business parking lot at Bridge and Sunset with Moya still on his trail when he was able to flag down a deputy who was headed to the victim’s residence.
....and retrieved the victim's pants.
Deputies arrested Moya and charged her with aggravated assault and aggravated battery. She was also charged with child abuse because deputies say she left her eight-month-old boy alone in the home while she chased her boyfriend down the road.
Too late for her to be Darwinized then.

Blade gets 36 month reservation at the Crossbar Hotel
OCALA, Fla. -- Wesley Snipes was sentenced to 36 months in prison, Thursday, the maximum sentence allowed. Snipes was convicted of three misdemeanor charges for not filing his taxes.

During the sentencing, Snipes apologized for his actions, but the judge indicated that a major reason for the maximum penalty was to deter others from trying something similar. In the pre-sentencing report, the probation department said that Snipes’ conduct could be construed as trying to obstruct the investigation. The report said that could be grounds to increase Snipes’ jail time.

Snipes was not forced to surrender immediately. Instead the judge said he can surrender at a later date, somewhere nearer to his New Jersey home.

Snipes’ defense team spent the morning arguing that he should not have to go to prison. Snipes had appeared confident when he arrived at the federal courthouse Thursday morning. Snipes had many character witness letters written by friends, including Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington.

#2  His codefendants...

Kahn was the founder of American Rights Litigators, and a successor group, Guiding Light of God Ministries, that purported to help members legally avoid paying taxes. Rosile, a former accountant who lost his licenses in Ohio and Florida, prepared Snipes' paperwork.

He deserves to do three years just for "stupid".

Peace Terrorists Assault Iraq War Veteran and Family
April 22, 2008

Peace Fascists, College Professors and Hillary Supporters assault Iraqi War Veteran and Family while citizens do nothing to intervene.

Edinboro, PA, Apr. 22

For the second time in as many weeks, an Iraq War Veteran and his family held a Support the Troops rally across the street from the weekly “peace” protest in this college town. This week the true nature of the ‘peace’ activists was revealed for all to see. When the veteran’s 14 year old son crossed the street to videotape the protesters and their signs, the protesters became agitated and began harassing the boy. The right to record video in any public venue is long established in law and any attempt to interfere with that right is a violation of civil rights.

Seeing the escalating tension across the street, the veteran and his wife crossed over, leaving their three youngest children on the other side for safety while they went to retrieve their eldest son. Two of the female ‘peace’ protesters then attacked the veteran’s wife. When the veteran pulled one of those attackers off his wife he was jumped by four or five of the ‘peace’ people and knocked to the ground where they held him while beating him and smashing his eyeglasses.

The son pulled the remaining attacker off his mother, but the attacker managed to get in one last kick to his mother’s head with her boot. She then punched the son in his face while his mother called the police.

This all took place at a busy intersection, the mother had been knocked into the street in bumper to bumper traffic. People were visible in the windows of shops and a bar nearby. One might think someone would intervene to put a stop to the assault. One would be wrong. In a scene eerily reminiscent of the Kitty Genovese tragedy in New York, the bystanders and passers-by refused to stand up to the ‘peace’ thugs. Displaying a craven cowardice one would not have expected in middle America they would rather go on their way thankful that it was not them being assaulted. It was NOT them, today, but what about tomorrow?

When the police arrived they reviewed the video of the incident and then, astonishingly, refused to make any arrests, even when one of the ‘peace’ thugs spit in the face of the 14 year old boy right in front of the police and they did nothing! Officers, that is an assault! I don’t know where or how they train police in Edinboro but they obviously need some refresher courses!

One of the police was very aggressive toward the veteran and his family as if they were the attackers!

I think it is long past time for the people in this country to wake up to the violence of the ‘peace’ movement. I think it is long past time for them to realize that not standing up to the excesses of violence will only beget more violence.

Last Fourth of July, in New Jersey, one of these ‘peace’ people walked up to a young veteran of the War in Iraq and Afghanistan and shot him in the heart just because he was in the military. Last month another person or persons unknown detonated an improvised explosive device at the Armed Forces Recruiting Station in Times Square. Today a veteran and his family were assaulted in plain daylight on a public street in view of dozens of people and not one lifted a hand to help. This is not the America I grew up in. This is the Amerika the ‘peace’ crowd is bringing to your town and neighborhood.

The police, BTW, look very bad in this incident if this story is true.

POLICE: BUSH BASHER SMASHES DISABLED TEEN (More peace thuggery)
April 23, 2008 --

A man heckling First Lady Laura Bush and daughter Jenna outside the 92nd Street Y was arrested after he punched a wheelchair-bound girl whose parents has told him to shut up, authorities said yesterday. German Talis, 22, was shouting obscenities at the Bushes, who were leaving the building Tuesday, when he crossed paths with Wendy and John Lovetro and their daughter Maureen, 18, who has cerebral palsy.

They had been in the audience to hear the Bushes talk about their children's book, "Read All About It."

"He began yelling about Iraq and Iran at Jenna Bush. She was waving at the crowd. I told the guy, 'What are you doing? Shut up. This is about a child and books,' " said John Lovetro. "He was unperturbed. I said, 'Get out of here! You're being a moron!' "

The next thing he knew, Talis was allegedly punching Maureen - a fan of the first lady since meeting her in 2004. "I heard my daughter hysterical yelling, 'He's hitting me!' " said Wendy Lovetro.

"He punched her on the shoulder blades, but that wasn't enough," she said. "My husband pushed the wheelchair away from him and he reached beyond my husband and began pounding my daughter in the thigh."

The two men fought as the president's family drove off. Cops broke them up and busted Talis on charges of assault and resisting arrest. Maureen was not seriously injured.

Congenital Idiot: Possible Nazi Theme of Grand Prix Boss’s Orgy Draws Calls to Quit
POSSIBLE? EFL

LONDON — Few scandals in recent years have provoked as much anger and dismay across Europe as the saga of Max Mosley, the overseer of grand prix motor racing who made tabloid news last weekend in a front-page exposé and accompanying Web video showing him in a sadomasochistic orgy with five supposed prostitutes in a London sex “dungeon.”

Max Mosley, president of the governing body of grand prix motor racing, in 2006. He is under fire for a sexual encounter.

But beyond the licentiousness of the episode, it was the suggestion of Nazi undertones in the role-playing during the session in a basement in London’s fashionable Chelsea district that led to demands for Mr. Mosley’s resignation as president of the Paris-based Federation Internationale de l’Automobile. Known as the F.I.A., it is the international governing body of motor sports, and has presided over the expansion of Formula One racing into one of the world’s richest sports.

Family history has added to the notoriety: Mr. Mosley, 67, is the younger son of Britain’s 1930s fascist leader, Sir Oswald Mosley, and the society beauty Diana Mitford, whose secret wedding in Berlin in October 1936 was held at the home of the Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels and included Hitler as a guest of honor.

Hottentots driven almost extinction due to Climate Change
Eastern Africa experienced a series of severe droughts between 135,000 and 90,000 years ago, and the researchers said this climatological shift may have contributed to the population changes, dividing into small, isolated groups which developed independently.

Paleontologist Meave Leakey, a Genographic adviser, commented: "Who would have thought that as recently as 70,000 years ago, extremes of climate had reduced our population to such small numbers that we were on the very edge of extinction?"

#3  The article says extreme drought. Extreme drought would be associated with cooling, not warming. In warming, more water evaporates from the ocean and so there is more rain. With cooling, less water evaporates from the oceans.

70,000 years ago would have been about smack in the middle of the last glaciation. Global COOLING is more of an extinction threat than global warming is.

Pennsylvania Cost Him the Presidency
Kevin D. Williamson, National Review's "Media Blog"

Fox News is on the story which originated, like most news about people under 21, on a social-networking site:

It’s a controversy involving a president and a would-be commander in chief.

But the president, in this case, is an 18-year-old Pennsylvania high school student who claims he was forced to resign as head of his senior class because he skipped gym and left school to see Democratic presidential would-be Barack Obama.

Colin Saltry, a Scranton High School senior, and fellow classmate Joey Daniel reportedly bolted school on Monday to catch a glimpse of the Illinois senator during a campaign stop at “The Glider” restaurant, just minutes away from their school.

Saltry and Daniel say they met Obama, snapped photos with him, and even had the candidate sign excuse slips to present to their teachers.

But their decision to skip out did not sit well with school administrators, who said the students broke the rules by leaving school without permission.

Mr. Saltry is apparently going to be forced to resign as class president, but the Colin Saltry for President page on Facebook is hopping.

The group site, which claims to be the official site for Saltry’s future presidential campaign — “sometime in the next 40 years” — was inundated with postings Wednesday by students angered over their classmate’s punishment.

Sneaking out of class is one thing; but bringing back a permission slipped signed by Barack Obama? Brilliant. Somebody send this kid a copy of Capitalism and Freedom or God and Man at Yale.

Metaphor alert: there's hogs in the bilges, Skipper!

You always know you're reading a blue-state paper when the metaphors start going to seed. From The New York Times, here's Roger Cohen, a man who no doubt farms as well as he sails, attempting to dismiss the allegations of biofuel critics:

Most of this, to borrow a farm image, is hogwash and bilge.

Whose farm? Anyway, get the pigs out of the bass boat and you'll be more convincing, Roger.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna hoist the sow on the mizzen and go set crab pots on the back forty 'fore the layin' hens get washed overboard.

Today's Political Idiot
h/t LGF

CROWN POINT, Ind. - If fans of Hitler held a party, and a candidate for federal office attended, would anybody notice?

Apparently, yes.

U.S. Congressional candidate Tony Zirkle is facing criticism from one of his primary opponents, and a host of people on the Internet, for speaking at an event over the weekend that celebrated Adolf Hitler’s birthday.

Zirkle confirmed to The News-Dispatch on Monday he spoke Sunday in Chicago at a meeting of the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party, whose symbol is a swastika. When asked if he was a Nazi or sympathized with Nazis or white supremacists, Zirkle replied he didn’t know enough about the group to either favor it or oppose it.
"Don't know much about history . . ."
When asked if meeting with Nazis was a danger to his political career, Zirkle said he was willing to take the chance. “That’s the risk you have to take to get your point across,” Zirkle said. “If the Black Panthers or the Jewish Zionists want me to speak about these issues, I’ll do it.”

#1  Here's a coupla other guys that also didn't have a very happy Hitler's birthday...

Two inmates were killed and five others injured when a riot broke out Sunday afternoon at the high security U.S. Penitentiary 2 miles south of Florence.

Traci Billingsley, a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman, confirmed two inmates died as a result of the 12:30 p.m. recreation yard incident that began when a group of white inmates reportedly began a noisy celebration of of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler's birthday.

No staff injuries were reported in the incident, which Billingsley said lasted several hours. Reports said several gunshots were fired.

"I'm hearing 120 rounds were shot on the yard, and that's an amazing amount of firepower," State Rep. Liane "Buffie" McFadyen, D-Pueblo West, said late Sunday. "What I'm hearing is it was a racially motivated riot situation in conjunction with (Adolf) Hitler's birthday," which was Sunday.

Study shows bananas make baby boys
Women can influence the gender of their child with what they eat before they conceive, according to new research that lends scientific support to age-old superstitions about pregnancy.
"Well dear, you're the one who wants a daughter. The study says it's the only thing you're allowed to eat. Swallow."
The discovery shows higher calorie intake prior to conception can significantly increase the chances of having a son while women on restricted diets are more likely to produce daughters.

Scientists at Britain's Oxford and Exeter Universities, who studied eating habits of 740 women during their first-time pregnancies, say that their findings seem to back certain traditional links between diet and gender while disproving others.

"We were able to confirm the old wives' tale that eating bananas and so having a high potassium intake was associated with having a boy, as was a high sodium intake," research leader Fiona Mathews, a specialist in mammalian biology at Exeter University, told the Guardian newspaper.

"But the old take about drinking a lot of milk to have a girl doesn't seem to hold up. In fact, more calcium meant they were again more likely to have a boy."

Mathews said the study pointed to a simple technique to influencing the chances of a male birth: Eating a bowl of cereal for breakfast.

"If you want a boy, eat a healthy diet with a high calorie intake, including breakfast," she told New Scientist magazine.

"Of women eating cereals daily, 59 percent had boys, compared with only 43 percent who bore boys in the group eating less than a bowlful per week."

The researchers said that a higher calorie intake prior to conception can increase the chances of having a son from ten to 11 boys in every 20 births, according to the study published in the Proceeding of the Royal Society B.

They said it could explain why male births in richer countries are experiencing a slight reduction.

#3  Of course, 3dc. Timing, too: intercourse before ovulation increases the chance of a girl, after of a boy (time rather than distance, of course). I have that information from a textbook written in 1981.

The final sentence of the piece makes no sense, though. If richer preconception diets lead to more boys, then oughtn't the rate of male births increase in wealthier countries?

Global Warming Ski Alert: Idaho ski resort extends season into May
McCALL -- Near-record snowfall and low spring temperatures are creating ideal conditions at Brundage Mountain Resort. Resort officials announced today that they will be open for a third bonus weekend in May.

The resort is currently closed on weekdays, and had planned this Saturday and Sunday to be the final ski weekend of the season, but that was before 10 inches of fresh powder fell this week. Now, resort managers have decided to be open on May 3rd and 4th. “Mother Nature has been extremely kind to us this year,” said resort spokesperson April Russell. “And our loyal visitors have shown that they are still interested in skiing and riding on the best snow in Idaho.”

Resort operators are keeping a close watch on Mother Nature and customer interest to decide if additional weekends in May are possible.

This is the first time Brundage Mountain has ever offered lift service in the month of May. Brundage Mountain has received 422 inches of snowfall this season. That makes this the second snowiest winter on record.

    Scientist's aim: Alter weather
Roelof Bruintjes dismisses the old saw that everybody talks about the weather but nobody does anything about it. The Boulder scientist has made it rain in Australia, Turkey, the Middle East, Africa and Wyoming.

Even the Chinese asked Bruintjes — one of the world's leading experts on weather modification — whether he could advise them on how to make it not rain for the Beijing Olympics.

Bruintjes (pronounced broon-chess), who was in China about a month ago, had to tell the Games' organizers there are no guarantees for a dry 100-meter dash. "We cannot make clouds or chase clouds away," said Bruintjes, who leads the National Center for Atmospheric Research's weather-modification group.

Sill, Bruintjes and other scientists speaking Tuesday at an international conference on weather modification in Westminster said there are possibilities for managing and modifying weather — from making rain to reducing the severity of hurricanes. What is needed, they said, is renewed federal backing of the research.
Check with AlGore on how to scam the the folks and get them to pay for it.
"In terms of the stakes, I think we owe it to the taxpayers to give it our best shot," said Joseph Golden, a senior research scientist at the University of Colorado's Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences.
This is the same University that brought us the Imitation Indian Ward Churchill. Maybe we could hire him to do a rain dance.
Scientists are monitoring more than 150 weather-modification projects in 40 countries, including at least 60 in the Western United States. The projects include wringing additional snow out of clouds for California hydropower and easing droughts in sub-Saharan Africa.

Most of the current research on this inexact science is being conducted abroad, since funding for a majority of U.S. efforts dried up in the 1980s.
Dried up funds (drought) most likely caused by Global Warming.
China has 30,000 scientists devoted to weather modification, although their efforts to ensure sunny skies for August have not been proved, Bruintjes said. The Chinese plan is to pre-empt usual summer showers by cloud seeding before the opening ceremonies or reduce the size of water droplets in clouds to delay storms.

"There is no evaluation. There is no scientific literature available that can substantiate their claims," said Bruintjes, who has no immediate plans to return to China. "Personally, I'm very skeptical about what they're claiming to do."

The ability to alter the weather has been an age-old quest, and determining the precise effects of efforts such as cloud seeding can be elusive. Still, scientists say they have high confidence and some documented successes. Modern technology more than ever before is allowing them to peer into the formation of clouds at the molecular level and ever so slightly influence the weather.

Arlen Huggins, a scientist with the Desert Research Institute, says that cloud-seeding experiments have shown as much as a 20 percent increase in precipitation in some situations. Water utilities increasingly are willing to risk a modest investment for the prospect of additional economical water, Huggins said.

But the effects are clouded by the overwhelming presence of pollutants such as soot, which can mimic the nuclei of ice crystals and water droplets that form clouds.
Clouds are ice crystals or water droplets, you twit.
Such "inadvertent weather modification" is a ripe area for research, Huggins said. "We don't understand all these processes yet and how pollution might affect clouds," he said. <
span style=background-color:yellow;>That was the whole theory of the nuclear winter in the 70s. Pollution supplied hygroscopic nuclei that increased cloud cover and reflected sunlight, thus cooling the Earth.

Dampening the severity of hurricanes also has become a high-profile issue in the wake of the damage caused by Katrina, even drawing the attention of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

One proposal calls for sending a ship into the eye of a hurricane, where giant fans on deck would be used to weaken the inner cloud wall — if the ship didn't sink first. We could enlist the 30,000 Chinese to blow simultaneously in the opposite direction to stop the Hurricane. "There's no shortage of looney good ideas out there," Golden said. "There are some wacky ones, too."

#1  I thought a more recent theory was that airplane com-trails were initiating excessive cloud formation, causing either global cooling through shading the earth from sunshine.... or global warming through preventing the re-radiation of sun energy back out into space.

Never mind. I'll leave it to cleverer minds than mine to figure it out.

#2  One of the few ways that has ever been devised to affect weather uses something more powerful than humans--microorganisms.

It was discovered that a major algae bloom in the ocean can raise the surface temperature of the water by as much as two degrees, over a wide enough area so it could raise the severity of a hurricane by 1 or maybe 2 categories.

Then if, but only if, a natural hurricane passes through the area of warmed ocean, will it be affected.

Importantly, hurricanes *lower* the surface temperature of water considerably. So the long term affects of hurricanes is cooling.

Few people remember the enormous area of "black water" on Florida's Gulf Coast, where microorganisms had so depleted the oxygen in the water that there was a massive die off of other life. To a great extent, the hurricanes that passed through the area "healed" it by lowering water temperatures so much that microorganism growth was curtailed, and the area could return to balance.

A congressional candidate is defending his speech to a group celebrating the anniversary of Adolf Hitler's birth, saying he appeared simply because he was asked.

"I'll speak before any group that invites me," Zirkle said Monday. "I've spoken on an African-American radio station in Atlanta..."

Dreaded dacoit Mohar Singh gunned down
LUCKNOW: Dreaded dacoit, Mohar Singh, who was gunned down in an encounter with the police in the Chambal ravines of Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh in the early hours on Wednesday had threatened to outdo dacoit queen Phoolan Devi.
Pfeh. No one could outdo the beautiful and multi-talented Phoolan Devi!
A warning letter recovered from his person at the scene of the encounter near Tejpura village stated that if Phoolan Devi being a woman could kill 22 persons (in the Behmai massacre of February 14, 1981), he (Mohar Singh) would massacre 44 persons.
Oh, that worked well, didn't it?

"Ha ha, coppers!... [BANG BANG!]... No one can stop me!... [BANGETY BANG!]... No one!... [KAPOW! KAZING!]... Urk!... [teeter!]... [topple!]... Rosebud."
A Home Department spokesman said the brigand’s warning resulted in the exodus of the villagers from Igoi village in the neighbouring Jalaun district.
    "That's it. I'm outa here."
    "Me, too."
    "See ya!"
However, the dacoit’s warning was short-lived as he was killed in the Chambal and Yamuna ravines under the Chakarnagar police station area in Etawah district at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.
"Supper's not cold yet, is it?"
    "I'm hungry, too!"
"Maybe we can call out for Chinese?"
Wanted in 21 cases of loot, dacoity and murder, Mohar Singh carried a reward of Rs.20,000.
"Aaaar! He's got the death sentence on 12 systems!"
One of his accomplices, Surendra Singh was also killed in the pre-dawn encounter.
    "Aaaaiiieeee!... Rosebud... [rattle!]... [twitch!]...
The police party was led by the Senior Superintendent of Police of Etawah, S.R.S. Aditya. Two double-barrel guns, Rs 13,000 in cash, used and live cartridges were recovered from the encounter site.
    "Marshal Aditya! Whut's this here?"
    "A thumb, I think."
The encounter lasted for about 45 minutes and the dacoits’ identity was established by local villagers, about three hours after they were killed, the spokesman said.
"Yep. That's him. I'd recognize that thumb anywhere!"
The rest of the gang members managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
    "Cheezit! It's the marshal!"
His end came in dramatic circumstances.
And let that be a lesson to you: "dramatic" and "unusual" are two different things.
During the course of the police operation, the desperado warned the police party that he was “Mohar Singh” and would not hesitate to kill them, the Home Department spokesman added.
"Yew lawboyz don't know whom yer messin' with! I'm Mohair Singh!"
"Oh, yeah? Well, I'm Cashmere Aditya! And this here's Denim Mukkerjee!"
The Mohar Singh gang had struck a reign of terror in the Chambal and Yamuna ravines in Etawah and Jalaun districts, which had forced the people of the villages situated alongside the twin rivers to flee. The gang also operated in Kanpur Dehat and Auraiya districts. Recently, the gang had kidnapped two persons for ransom under the Amrahat police station area in Kanpur Dehat district.
