Fauxcahontas Tries To Court Rural Voters With Free Broadband Smoke Signal Blanket
[The Federalist] Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren has an elitist problem, and she knows it.

Her Boston background makes her a prime target for Republican opponents to brand her as an out-of-touch coastal elite if she were to emerge as the Democratic nominee next fall, a fitting description for a Massachusetts senator with an Ivy League background who lectures on the campaign trail like a college professor. Similar to Hillary Clinton in 2016, Warren is a walking briefing book with a plan for seemingly everything. She even earned a spot for it on the cover of Time magazine in May. The words "I have a plan for that" featured prominently on the page next to a determined, forward-looking Warren. The text has since become an unofficial motto of the Warren campaign.

This week, Warren kicked off her Iowa road trip with the announcement of a new plan to provide high-speed internet access to rural communities, a proposal aimed at expanding the senator’s base as she tries to shed the elitist professor image moving into the next phase of the Democratic primary.

"As we head into Iowa, I’m sharing my new plans to invest in rural communities. It’s time to put their interests ahead of giant companies and Wall Street," Warren tweeted.

#2  Dang! I picked Bee. In my defense, it has mockery, Democratic pandering, and something actual, namely rural broadband - all the ingredients of classic satire.

Joe Biden Vows Flood of Immigration If Elected
[Breitbart] Former Vice President and leading 2020 Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden is vowing to greatly increase the number of legal immigrants admitted to the United States every year.

In a speech to the Asian and Latino Coalition PAC, Biden promised to increase the level of legal immigration to the country beyond the roughly 1.2 million legal immigrants that are admitted every year, booming the foreign-born population to an unprecedented 45 million ‐ a 108-year record high.

Specifically, Biden said the U.S. can "in a heartbeat" import another two million immigrants today.

Biden said:
We could afford to take in a heartbeat another two million people. The idea that a country of 330 million people is cannot absorb people who are in desperate need ... is absolutely bizarre ... I would also move to increase the total number of immigrants able to come to the United States. [Emphasis added]
In addition to an increase in legal immigration levels, Biden said his national immigration plan would ensure that all 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living across the U.S. receive amnesty and a pathway to American citizenship.

Likewise, Biden said it is "immigration" that has "built this country," reiterating the claim that the U.S. is a "nation of immigrants," calling it "a fact."

#1  That is a winning position. Go ahead with that one Joe. Trump might actually break 25% of the black vote.

#2  Yes, I think the left is more fond of immigration as an issue to wield against Orange man than they are fond of immigration per se.

#3  Two million? If I believed that I might agree to it. But I believe what he has in mind is more like two billion.

#4  It's about time to start up internment camps for the psychotic red flagged left. Throw in Meth heads, cocaine users, and heroin peoples. We are dealing here with a pandemic. The world is in turmoil. Sanity one way or another will occur. A woman said the area is bad now. I said where do you go. This problem is everywhere. I got it!. Sanctuary cities would be a good start. They are already there. Think about it?. If it was a Pandemic and it was serious enough. Himmmm.

Biden: The Second Amendment Isn't ‘Absolute'
[Free Beacon] Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Saturday claimed none of the amendments to the Constitution are "absolute" while discussing the Second Amendment.

Biden made the remarks while participating in Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund's Presidential Gun Sense Forum in Des Moines, Iowa.

"The Second Amendment ‐ no amendment is in fact absolute," Biden said. "You cannot stand up in this hall and yell fire. That's not freedom of speech because they know the consequence of yelling fire: There'll be a stampede, and someone will get hurt."

The former Vice President also noted how the national conversation about gun control has changed, adding he has witnessed "a movement" toward change, according to the Washington Examiner.

"Folks, don't apologize at all about the Second Amendment," said Biden, explaining how the amendment allows for limitations. "These guys will tell you, ’the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots.' Give me a break."

#2  Non sequitur argument ... but then that's typical Biden.
Posted by: magpie || 08/11/2019 4:56 Comments || Top||

#3  Actually, the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights are absolute as the are granted by God, not the gummint. What needs to be absolute is the punishment for violating or abusing those rights, be it someone doing a mass shooting (or even just murdering one person) or a journalist using the platform he or she is on to knowingly disseminate lies. A few career death penalties in the news business would probably go a long way towards improving the quality of the product.

#5  Given that the Constitution is a contract between the people and the government, if one party believes it no longer will abide by the terms of that contract, the contract is no longer valid.

#8  Yes you can stand up in that hall and yell FIRE. But then you are held accountable for the result of that act and any injuries and deaths. Just as you would be held responsible for firing a gun in that hall or telling everyone lies as the press and getting someone killed.
What they want is to prevent you from telling fire even if there is an actual fire. Or firing a gun to save a life, or tell the truth when it doesn't fit their narrative.

#9  Despite the hopeful signs enumerated yesterday, I still wonder if we are able to vote our way out of this. I am afraid we are fast approaching the time when we will learn how absolute these rights are.

#10  I think the master plan is to disenfranchise white males and weight foreigners' votes according to geographic location - the further outside the US border, the more the vote counts.

#11  Full frontal attack against the Constitution.
Posted by: Phaick Uneretle6310 || 08/11/2019 17:57 Comments || Top||

#12  1) The initial Cold War strategy by the left was impeachment. Didn't work but they will continue to blame Trump for everything under the sun.

2) New Cold War strategy by the left is to black list political donors (Castro' action) and to encourage attacks against the voters directly (Hollywood's "The Hunt").

3) Continue to import socialist foreign nationals illegally to cancel out American Citizens votes (Pelosi continues to meet with Soros backed group in Latin America).

#13  First allowing a flood of immigrants in and then a weakened 2nd amendment. Joe really must not want win.

NY regulators probing NRA for illegal gun insurance kickbacks
Am I the only one who sees the disconnect in logic here?
[NYPost] Carry Guard insurance provided gun owners as much as $150,000 for their legal bills if they were arrested for a shooting and claimed it was done in self-defense. New York state prohibits insurance that protects potential criminal activity.

#2  Gun insurance is so last century. Who needs it these days anyway?
Posted by: jpal || 08/11/2019 9:51 Comments || Top||

#3  For me, the kick in the head is not only does the current environment mean you need insurance to protect yourself if you exercise the natural right (or rather, imperative) of self-defense, but that secondary economic self-defense has been declared illegal as well.
Posted by: Mercutio || 08/11/2019 10:44 Comments || Top||

#4  How many entities (people and companies) have insurance policies against potential legal liabilities that are living in New York? Can we count how many?
Posted by: magpie || 08/11/2019 14:27 Comments || Top||

#5  ^^Or do they have [some other legal term] that looks like insurance, acts like insurance but ain't called insurance?
Posted by: magpie || 08/11/2019 14:29 Comments || Top||

#6  And I thought the gun was the only insurance I need.
Posted by: Dron66046 || 08/11/2019 16:19 Comments || Top||

#7  I don’t see how such a law can be legal. I might be able to stretch logic to make it illegal for insurance to compensate for an unsuccessful defense but a successful defense means there was no criminal act to be gained from.

#8  The Left controls New York City, the Southern District of NY, and the state government, and they're going to use it to push leftism on the rest of us with the full force of the Capital of Finance. They think they're going to make a zillion dollars from being the Last Allowed Capitalists.
