WATCH: Drone Captures Migrants Carrying Drugs Across Border into Texas
[Breitbart] Drone video captured the images of a group of six migrants illegally crossing the border from Mexico into the Laredo Sector. Agents found them carrying large bundles of marijuana.

Laredo Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Carl E. Landrum tweeted a video from a Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS) showing a group of six people crossing the border from Tamaulipas, Mexico, into Texas. When agents responded to the area, Landrum said they found 300 pounds of smuggled marijuana.

Operators of the SUAS coordinated with the agents to guide them directly to the location of the smuggling activity, Landrum noted.

Similarly, Del Rio Sector agents utilized technology in what Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens called a “force-multiplier” to apprehend 168 migrants illegally crossing the border near Eagle Pass, Texas.

The utilization of these types of technologies enables Border patrol agents to spend more time on actual border security incursions and less time patrolling wide-open spaces along the border.

“Technology gives our men & women an advantage, ensuring that we can apprehend them…day or night,” Chief Owens tweeted.

AOC buries both feet in her mouth over Gov. DeSantis comment
[Florida Politics] The Senator again snipes at a familiar target.

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott started the New Year with a nationally televised interview, chiding a New York Congresswoman for vacationing in Florida and complaining about Gov. Ron DeSantis’ schedule during the latest COVID-19 spike.

Scott appeared Saturday on Fox and Friends Weekend, where the topic was Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saying DeSantis was absent during the latest surge of COVID-19 cases. The Governor, as reported by Fox News, was by the First Lady’s side during cancer treatments.

"AOC is just a complete hypocrite. She does it, the Democrats do it, the left media does it. They watch Joe Biden go and buy ice cream every day, but then they attack Republicans every moment they can," Scott complained.

"AOC wants to shut down New York and then she wants to come down here," Scott continued. "Maybe she’s doing a fact finding mission to see what freedom is like."

Ocasio-Cortez, who was photographed sans mask at a Florida restaurant, chided DeSantis’ absence on Twitter.

Emphasis added.

Andy Biggs ‐ Carrying a Gun Is Part of Being a ‘Free American'
[Breitbart] Breitbart News interviewed Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) at Turning Point USA’s Americafest and he told us carrying guns for self-defense is critical to the American experience because the founders placed such high value on life.

We asked Biggs, “Why is it important that I can own a gun, carry a gun, that your wife can own a gun, carry a gun, that my wife can do the same. Why is this important?”

He responded by pointing out two reasons, the first of which he described as the “philosophical reason.”

Biggs outlined, “The Founders said this is what we need to have to preserve a free form of government. Their position was, you need to be able to have this militia, this group of citizens, because you don’t want the government to be putting their thumb down on you, because they are just coming out of King George doing that, so that’s number one.”

He then explained: “The second thing is when you start talking about my wife or me or someone else, we’re talking about self-defense, and the first liberty is the right to life. So, if you can’t defense yourself against the bad guys you start looking like the 12 cities in America that have the highest homicide rate in their history.”

Biggs added, “You don’t want to look like that. You don’t want to look like Venezuela. You want to be a free American and the way to be free and reduce crime is to allow people to carry guns.”

SHOTS FIRED: Border Patrol Vehicle Struck as Agents Arrest Migrant
[Breitbart] Border Patrol agents attempting to arrest a migrant near Fronton, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley came under gunfire Saturday morning. As the agents attempted the arrest, several shots were fired at them from Mexico. The agents avoided injury during the incident that damaged their patrol vehicle.

The incident occurred at 8:45 a.m. on the banks of the Rio Grande near Fronton, according to a statement released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The gunfire erupted as Rio Grande Valley City Station Border Patrol agents attempted to arrest a migrant who had illegally crossed the border from Mexico. The agents were not struck by the gunfire but their vehicle sustained damage after being hit.

The agents involved in the incident did not return gunfire, officials stated. Few details regarding the shooting incident were available at press time. The incident is under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

According to a source within CBP, the Fronton area is notorious for narcotics smuggling and is controlled by the Gulf Cartel (CDG). The source says the area has been the scene of numerous narcotics seizures attributed to the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station that is responsible for patrolling the area.

Fronton, located approximately five miles east of Roma, Texas, has seen its share of border violence in the past. Border Patrol agents and other law enforcement officers have come under gunfire on several occasions. In August 2019, four gunmen in Mexico fired more than 50 rounds at a Border Patrol airboat patrolling the Rio Grande, Breitbart Texas reported. No agents were injured however the vessel was struck several times. According to the source, the gunmen were protecting a shipment of cocaine and an underwater pulley system used to shuttle the narcotics across the river.

In 2016, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and a Border Patrol agent were shot in the same area when a gunfight between police authorities and narcotics smugglers erupted. Both law enforcement officers survived their injuries.

ISIS kills Syrian Soldiers in East Syria
Five Syrian soldiers have been killed and 20 injured in a rocket attack on a military transport bus in the east of the country [probably Deir ez-Zor]

Sunday's attack took place at approximately 7pm (17:00 GMT), Syrian state media reported on Monday, adding that a military vehicle in the Badia area came under a rocket attack followed by artillery shelling by ISIL (ISIS) fighters.

ISIL, which declared a caliphate straddling parts of Syria and Iraq in 2014, has lost all the territory that was under its control in 2019.

However, the group continues to wage a low-level fight in both countries, launching frequent hit-and-run raids from desert hideouts on either side of the border with Iraq.

Joe Biden's Deputies Boast of Accelerating Migration Numbers
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden’s progressive deputies are boasting about their efforts to fast-track foreigners into Americans’ jobs, society, and voting booths.

“I’m immensely proud of the USCIS workforce … [for] enacting numerous operational and policy changes in response to executive orders from the Biden-Harris Administration,” said a statement from Ur Jaddou, the director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency within Alejandro Mayorkas’ Department of Homeland Security.

The USCIS agency processes foreigners’ requests for work permits, green cards, and citizenship. The agency helps people overseas for U.S. jobs, it helps migrants who illegally sneak over the border, and it helps migrants who are released into the United States by Mayorkas’ customs and border officials.

From October 2020 to the end of September 2021, according to Jaddou, the agency provided citizenship t0 855,000 migrants and rewarded 172,000 people with green cards for taking jobs needed by Americans.

The immigration system is an “engine of American strength,” Jaddou claimed, promising “In the upcoming year, we will continue to serve the [foreign] public with compassion and reflect America’s promise as a nation of welcome and possibilities for all.”

The phrase, “a nation of welcome,” is increasingly being used by progressives instead of the unpopular “nation of immigrants” demand first pushed in the Cold War.

The rush by Biden’s deputies to pull more migrants into U.S. society comes after President Donald Trump decided in 2020 to largely end the federal government’s economic policy of extracting migrants from foreign countries.

Under Trump, the annual inflow of visa workers, job-seeking “students,” temporary workers, and legal immigrants dropped by 1 million, from 1.6 million in 2017 to under 600,000 in 2021, according to a December 21 report by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The Trump reform burst the cheap labor bubble that allowed investors to grow rich by creating many low-wage companies and jobs during the three decades after Congress spiked migration in 1990. Numerous groups — including JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs — have credited Trump’s reduced labor supply for boosting Americans’ wages and forcing greater investment in labor-saving technology.

The reduction has also helped to reduce some ethnic conflicts in the United States. For example, an increasing number of Latinos are shifting their political focus from divisive ethnic politics toward shared national concerns, such as wage growth and family budgets.

Biden’s deputies, however, are now working overtime to reinflate the cheap labor bubble.

They are bringing bring in more migrants to serve as workers, consumers, renters — and eventually, as Democratic voters. In 2021, for example, the administration allowed roughly 1.5 million migrants to enter the United States as asylum seekers, refugees, border jumpers, Afghan parolees, legal immigrants, family reunification beneficiaries, or visa workers.

A wide variety of little-publicized polls does show deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates. This opposition is growing, multiracial, cross-sex, non-racist, class-based, bipartisan, rational, persistent, and recognizes the solidarity Americans owe to each other.

#12  g(r)omgoru did argue that because corona viruses evolve so quickly, vaccines would need to follow suit.

The man has a point. We're not talking "viruses" and "vaccines" in general, but this specific virus and these specific mRNA vaccines. Join me, as we stroll into the Land of Tortured Analogies...

Imagine if you will, that a virus is made up of little colored Lego bricks (proteins). Our friend, COVID-19, has something unusual - a little red brick (the spike). Vary rare.

When COVID first showed up, our close personal friends, the Chinese who apparently had some previous experience, were neither forthcoming nor trustworthy. This being a novel virus and not knowing how dangerous it was, we panicked and cranked out a vaccine as quickly as possible. None of that 5 years and a bazillion dollars of drug testing because PANDEMIC!

A vaccine works by giving your immune system a heads-up so it can recognize who the bad guys are when they come around. It's like handing out mug shots to the bouncer at the door so he can recognize the gang-bangers.

Traditionally, when we make vaccines, we mush up the virus in a test tube and squirt it in your arm. Your body sees all the little Lego bricks and has an idea what to look for next time. In this specific case, we made a vaccine with *only* red Lego bricks. Only.

But viruses mutate. It's what they do. The DNA copying mechanism is a bit sloppy and every once in a while, an error occurs. BAM! A new mutation. A new variant.

Being freshly vaccinated, our bouncer is standing at the door looking for little red bricks. Anybody shows up with a red brick, they get punched in the face and tossed out on the street. Yay, the vaccine working!

But viruses mutate. If that red brick mutates into a green brick, there is nothing to alert the bouncer and he says come on in and make yourself at home. And just like that, you have a COVID variant. It is essentially the original virus, but it has evolved just enough to get around this specific vaccine.

Dang! So we boot up the gene sequencer and sus out what color of Legos we are dealing with now. We iterate through our quick vaccine process and here is your "booster" shot. Easy peasy. The red and green variants don't stand a chance.

But viruses mutate. Now it's a yellow brick. Aw, hell. So we turn the crank one more time and here is your "booster" shot! (booster shot strikes me as a bit of a misnomer since we are talking about a new vaccine against a very specific subspecies of a particular virus)

Sounds familiar and rather endless, eh? Lucky for us, another biological principle is in play: over time, a virus will evolve to become more contagious and less deadly. Kinda sorta like the South African Omicron variant that seems to be both contagious and mild. This does not mean the more virulent variants magically disappear. They are still around mutating, but being exposed to the rapidly spreading Omicron should give a more broad-spectrum immunity since it is based on the entire virus and not a single protein.

Bottom Line At Last (BLAL): maybe giving "boosters" to the old and infirm isn't such a bad idea.

#13  3dc:

It may or may not be useful but it's the only prevention game out there. 5) He wishes for other options and openness and discussion with the powers that be.

Well, in this case he's trusting the people who helped make the virus (and lied about it) and not only lied about treatments but killed people to further the lies to be telling the truth about the vaccines.

#14  As a data analyst for 21+ years the first thing you do before any statistical analysis is get good data. I have not seen any data related to COVID that would allow for any meaningful analysis. Just my professional opinion. And there is even less meaningful information to go by. Everyone is on their own to make an important decision about their health. Good Luck.

#15  (Hold on, let me search the thread for "ACE inhibitors, my eyes are shot today and I don't feel like reading the whole thing...

I think that part of the problem with the current set of vaccines used in the west is that they're targeting a molecule that was originally designed to infect the receptor sites for some important molecules for cardiovascular function, called angiotensin.

Look it up for yourself, my eyes are tired.
Posted by: Thing From Snowy Mountain || 01/03/2022 18:04 Comments || Top||

#16  in Israel, as elsewhere, a fair number of medical personnel are expecting the Omnicron to be, in effect, a passive vaccine

this would show with new cases above, say 20k per day for several weeks, while deaths per day are below 10

#17  Oh, one more thing: by making a vaccine that focuses on one protein, the so-called spike protein that's designed to screw up angiotensin receptors, the antibodies not only attack the spike protein, but also nearby molecules it's stuck to, like the surface of the heart cells.

There are other people out there who described the process in greater detail to me back in April/May 2021. Lots of the stuff that's happened seems to be matching up with what they said then.

#18  Spare our young men. The data show conclusively that they are at significantly greater risk -- about 5x -- of myocarditis if vaccinated than of COVID-induced hospitalization if not vaccinated.

There ought to be separate policies for the elderly, those under 30, and the rest of us.

Focused protection, in other words: this is what the 'Great Barrington' epidemiologists and biostatisticians Dr. Bhattacharya (Stanford), Dr. Kulldorf (Harvard), Dr. Gupta (Oxford), along with Dr. Scott Atlas and tens of thousands of experts from around the world, have recommended consistently.

#20  The latest from the Great Barrington (GBD) Drs. Bhattacharya, Kulldorf and Gupta -- thanks to an FOIA request, they can reveal now that Fauxi and Francis Collins and their counterparts in the U.K. deliberately smeared the GBD group with a propaganda campaign of lies and bullshit, funneled through an ignorant and compliant press. Excerpt:

"Collins and Fauci played critical roles in designing and advocating for the pandemic lockdown strategy adopted by the US and many other countries. In emails written four days after the Great Barrington Declaration and disclosed recently after a FOIA request, it was revealed that the two conspired to undermine the Declaration. Rather than engaging in scientific discourse, they authorized 'a quick and devastating published takedown' of this proposal, which they characterized as by 'three fringe epidemiologists' from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford.

"Across the pond, they were joined by their close colleague, Dr. Jeremy Farrar, the head of the Wellcome Trust, one of the world’s biggest non-governmental funders of medical research. He worked with Dominic Cummings, the political strategist of UK prime minister Boris Johnson. Together, they orchestrated 'an aggressive press campaign against those behind the Great Barrington Declaration and others opposed to blanket COVID-19 restrictions.'

"Ignoring our call for focused protection of the vulnerable, Collins and Fauci purposely mischaracterized the GBDl as a “let-it-rip” “herd immunity strategy,” even though focused protection is the very opposite of a let-it-rip strategy. It is more appropriate to call the lockdown strategy that has been followed a “let-it-rip” strategy. Without focused protection, every age group will eventually be exposed in equal proportion, albeit at a prolonged “let-it-drip” pace compared to a do-nothing strategy.

"When journalists started asking us why we wanted to 'let the virus rip,' we were puzzled. Those words are not in the GBD, and they are contrary to the central idea of focused protection. It is unclear whether Collins and Fauci ever read the GBD, whether they deliberately mischaracterized it, or whether their understanding of epidemiology and public health is more limited than we had thought. In any case, it was a lie.

"We were also puzzled by the mischaracterization of the GBD as a “herd immunity strategy.” Herd immunity is a scientifically proven phenomenon, as fundamental in infectious disease epidemiology as gravity is in physics. Every COVID strategy leads to herd immunity, and the pandemic ends when a sufficient number of people have immunity through either COVID-recovery or a vaccine.

"It makes as much sense to claim that an epidemiologist is advocating for a “herd immunity strategy” as it does to claim that a pilot is advocating a “gravity strategy” when landing an airplane. The issue is how to land the plane safely, and whatever strategy the pilot uses, gravity ensures that the plane will eventually return to earth.

No More Jingle Bells
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Tappon and other staff confirmed to the news outlet that they came to the decision after reading a 2017 scholarly article on the song's origins, written by Boston University Core Curriculum Director Kyna Hamil.

Hamill explains the history of the song and the life of its composer, James L. Pierpont. She included documents showing that the song's first public performance may have been in 1857 by white actors in blackface at a Boston minstrel show.
Very debateable.
But many in the community took issue with the song being banned and argued that it's a harmless and traditional part of celebrating the winter holidays, prompting Brighton Central School District Superintendent Kevin McGowan to publish a letter on the district's website explaining the decision.
'... it may seem silly to some,
it is
but the fact that 'Jingle Bells' was first performed in minstrel shows where white actors performed in blackface does actually matter when it comes to questions of what we use as material in school,' he wrote.
So now we have to ban songs that at some point in the past may have been performed by a mistral group.

#4  It was written by James Lord Pierpont (1822–1893) and published under the title "The One Horse Open Sleigh" in the autumn of 1857. It has been claimed that it was originally written to be sung by a Sunday school choir for Thanksgiving, or as a drinking song. Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight! Oh!

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh. Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way;
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

Although less well-known than the opening, the remaining verses depict high-speed youthful fun. In the second verse, the narrator takes a ride with a girl and loses control of the sleigh:

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon, Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side,
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
He got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot.[a]
|: chorus :|

In the next verse (which is often skipped), he falls out of the sleigh and a rival laughs at him:

A day or two ago,
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow,
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh,
He laughed as there I sprawling lie,
But quickly drove away. Ah!
|: chorus :|

In the last verse, after relating his experience, he gives advice to a friend to pick up some girls, find a faster horse, and take off at full speed:

Now the ground is white
Go it while you're young,
Take the girls tonight
and sing this sleighing song;
Just get a bobtailed bay
Two forty as his speed[b]
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! you'll take the lead.

Retired General Steven M. Anderson blasts Trump supporters in the military, calling them a ‘threat from within'
[The Republic Brief] Former General Anderson warned in his op-ed of Donald Trump supporters in the military, calling them a threat and urging them to stop listening to ’The Pillow Guy’, Trump associate and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

In an interview with CNN, Anderson discussed the upcoming 2024 elections and the threat of more rebellions. Anderson called Lindell a major source of misinformation and suggested that Trump supporters should become knowledgeable about right and wrong in politics.

The former General clearly has some hatred for anyone who supports former President Trump and further stated, ’There’s a threat within’ as he’s concerned there’s a real chance Trump will win again in 2024.

Home Front: WoT
FBI 'secret spy plane surveillance' is outlined in case involving suspected terrorist
BLUF: known criminal previously jailed for several years by Saudi Arabia for trying to join ISIS along with his father, whose sister got herself killed trying to knife a Tampa policeman after his arrest, protests during trial that the FBI paid attention to him.
[JustTheNews] The planes "followed him" and would circle his home "for hours on end," the defense argued.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) use of so-called "secret spy plane surveillance" is under scrutiny after the defense attorney for a Florida man accused of terrorism filed a motion to review the program.

The Department of Justice accused Muhammed Momtaz Al-Azhari of planning to carry out a terrorist attack on behalf of the Islamic State, for which he was arrested in May 2020.

Al-Azhari's attorney filed a motion in August to suppress the FBI's aerial evidence.

"The FBI operates a secret spy plane surveillance program," federal public defender Samuel Landes wrote. The Associated Press first reported on the program in 2015, and the FBI admitted to it shortly thereafter.

The Baltimore Police Department used similar warrantless aerial surveillance, but in June, the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals found that the program's "warrantless operation [violated] the Fourth Amendment."

At least nine FBI planes were used to surveil Al-Azhari without a warrant, Landes alleged, creating more than 900 videos that were provided to the defense. The planes, mostly small Cessnas, would circle his home "for hours on end. When Mr. Alazhari left his home, the planes followed him, including when he drove his car, and including when he traveled long distances," Landes wrote.

Because the government did not obtain a warrant, the defense argues that the search was "unreasonable under the fourth amendment" and evidence obtained from the surveillance "must be suppressed."

The Epoch Times reports that the Department of Justice responded to the motion in September by arguing that the FBI's surveillance was mischaracterized.

"The surveillance conducted in this case is not novel, nor did it involve highly invasive or extensive monitoring that would raise constitutional concerns," prosecutors wrote, adding that even if it were a search, it would be legal.

The FBI was "leaving nothing to chance," prosecutors said. "At the time aerial surveillance ramped up, the FBI had every reason to believe that the Defendant was planning an imminent attack."
He
The defense filed another motion stating that Al-Azhari may be mentally unfit for trial.
Throwing spaghetti against the wall to see if any sticks.
They requested him to undergo a mental health exam, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The judge granted the defense's request earlier this month, The Epoch Times stated, adding that a "status conference is set for Jan. 18."

Olde Tyme Religion
Navy, Air Force allegedly issuing blanket denials of religious exemptions from COVID vax mandate
[JustTheNews] The military is required by law to examine religious accommodation requests on an individual basis.

The Navy and Air Force are allegedly issuing predetermined blanket denials of requests for religious exemptions from the military's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, in violation of federal law and regulations.

Vice Admiral John Nowell, deputy chief of naval operations for manpower, personnel, training, and education, created a 50-step standard operating procedure streamlining the denials of these requests, known as religious accommodation requests (RARs).

The military is required by law to evaluate RARs on an individual basis to ensure due process under the Fifth Amendment and protect service members' First Amendment right to religious freedom.

The 50-step process is separated into six phases. In phase 1, before an individual service member's RAR is reviewed, a denial template letter is added to the package of documentation included with the request.

The screenshot provided in steps 15 and 27 shows that highlighted portions of the letter to be edited include the service member's and supervisor's names and processing dates. But the section that says "your request for religious accommodation through waiver of immunization requirements is disapproved" is already written and not highlighted for editing. There's no mention of an approval template letter.

In phase 4, a reviewing officer is instructed to examine the RAR in step 35. "THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL STEP IN THE ENTIRE PROCESS AND THE [Chief of Naval Operations] AND [Chief of Naval Personnel] ARE RELYING ON YOU TO ENSURE THAT YOUR REVIEW IS THOUROUGH [sic] AND ACCURATE," the instructions emphasize in all caps. "DO NOT RUSH THIS PROCESS AND ENSURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND BEFORE MOVING FORWARD."

According to a formal complaint lodged with the chief of naval operations by a Navy officer who wishes to remain anonymous, this step is designed to provide an appearance of individual consideration of RARs because, by this point, the denial template has already been added, numerous offices have endorsed the denial, and a drafted memo to Nowell requests a denial.

The Air Force has also come under scrutiny regarding RARs. In October, an Air Force Reserve diversity officer filed a religious discrimination complaint after her orders were allegedly canceled for seeking an RAR.

The Air Force denies applying a one-size-fits-all standard to religious exemption requests, telling Just the News on Monday, "The Department of the AF does an individualized least restrictive means analysis for each case."

The military branch also made a similar statement in court last month.

"The Air Force does not apply a 'blanket' rule that no less restrictive means of protecting the force exists other than a vaccination," respondent Maj. Gen. Sharon Bannister, director of medical operations in the Department of the Air Force office of the surgeon general, told the District Court for Middle District of Florida in her declaration to the court on Dec. 3, 2021.

"The Approval and Appeal Authority must look at numerous factors that vary by individual," she continued. "The Department of the Air Force strives to make sure full and appropriate consideration is given to each request. Where an accommodation can be granted without adversely impacting the compelling government interest in mission accomplishment, it will be."

However, there have been no approvals by the service of religious accommodation requests, alleges an Air Force officer who also wishes to remain anonymous.

In response to this officer's RAR, the Air Force said — two months prior to Bannister's statement — that "vaccination is the least restrictive means of furthering the military's compelling governmental interest."

"The Air Force," the RAR denial recommendation continued, "could attempt to accomplish the governmental interest through alternative means, such as requiring face masks, distancing, and routine testing; however, such means would be much less effective than vaccination."

However, in testimony to the House Armed Services Committe in early 2021, Joint Chiefs of Staff Vice Director for Operations, Maj. Gen. Jeff Taliaferro indicated there are alternatives to vaccination that are compatible with sound military operation.

"The services and the commands have worked very hard over the last year to make sure that we can operate in a COVID environment, before vaccines were available," Taliaferro said. "The addition of the vaccine should make us more capable in that environment. But we've already demonstrated over the last year that we're fully capable of operating in a COVID environment."

"It seems clear that the Navy and Air Force fully intend to deny all religious accommodation requests," said Davis Younts, an attorney representing the Navy officer. "The entire process appears pre-determined from the beginning. This is a clear and intentional violation of the constitutional rights of military members."

Younts told Just the News that he has verified the accuracy of the information provided by the two military officers "through multiple interviews."

The Navy was unable to provide a comment to Just the News by publishing time, citing holiday understaffing.

#1  ...Realistically, there was never any chance that anybody was going to get a religious exemption from DoD. If you have any kind of religious problem at all with vaccines, you would have never gotten in the door in the first place, and I suspect that there will soon be a change to the enlistment paperwork to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again.

Cover-Up Continues? Police in Rape Gangs Hotspot Not Recording Ethnicity of Abusers
[Breitbart] Police in Rotherham, where the authorities failed to tackle South Asian heritage “grooming” gangs due to political correctness for years, failed to record most abusers’ ethnicity in the year to December 2019.

Despite national and regional inquiries all concluding that victims had been failed and claiming lessons had been learned after the grooming gangs scandal was finally exposed at scale, an investigation by The Times has found that every police district in South Yorkshire, a major centre of abuse, still “routinely failed to log the ethnicity of those suspected of sexually abusing minors”.

Rotherham, which along with Rochdale was arguably ground zero for the scandal breaking nationwide, was the district most reluctant to log predators’ ethnic background, failing to record the ethnicity of an astonishing 67 per cent of suspects.

Independent investigations strongly suggest that a highly disproportionate number of grooming gang abusers are men of South Asian, mostly Pakistani Muslim heritage, and their victims largely white working-class girls and young women, but members of the media are still generally unable to describe suspects as anything other than “Asian” — to the chagrin of British Sikhs, among others — because the authorities almost never release information on their national and religious background.

“I reviewed these historic failings and, like this investigation by The Times, found that data collection on offenders is still poor, which is why I am making it mandatory for police forces to record the ethnicity of those arrested and held in custody as a result of their suspected involvement in grooming gangs,” commented Home Secretary Priti Patel of the situation, not explaining why she did not implement such a measure before the newspapers highlighted police failings if she was already aware of them.

The Tory MP, whose department has broad responsibility for policing, border control, deportations, and national security in the Boris Johnson administration — and is performing rather poorly across the board — added that “community and cultural factors are clearly relevant to understanding why people offend”, although to date police, prosecutors, and judges have remained unwilling to concede that the systematic abuse of mostly white non-Muslim girls and women by mostly South Asian Muslim men is racially or religiously motivated.

US Marshals' 'Operation Boo Dat' rescues five missing and endangered New Orleans teens during raids which saw SEVENTEEN sex offenders including child rape suspects arrested
[MAIL] A law enforcement operation in New Orleans found five missing teenage girls, some of whom may have been trafficked, and led to the arrest of 17 people for felony sex offender registration violations.

'Operation Boo Dat' - conducted by the US Marshals Service's New Orleans Task Force in partnership with state, county and local authorities - lasted from mid-October to December 24.

The rescued teens range in age from 14 to 17.

One of them is a 16-year-old girl who ran away from home after allegedly stealing a relative's car and a handgun. She was found living in a house with several adults, including an 'adult female strip club dancer.'

One of the suspects, Lorenzo Oliver, will have to register as a sex offender for life after he was arrested on December 10 for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in an abandoned home on the West Bank of New Orleans.

Oliver was previously convicted of attempted forcible rape and sexual battery in 2015 after he followed a woman into a library bathroom and tried to rape her, according to the Marshals Service.

Nurse wakes from 28-day Covid coma after medics give her VIAGRA: Asthmatic double-jabbed mother-of-two was just three days from having ventilator turned off
Good news, for you antivaxers with Alzheimer's!
[MAIL] A nurse who spent 28 days in a Covid coma fighting for her life has been saved after medics gave her Viagra as part of an experimental treatment regime .

Double-jabbed asthmatic mother-of-two Monica Almeida, 37, from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, was admitted to hospital on November 9 after testing positive for coronavirus on October 31.

She was moved to intensive care a week later before doctors put her into an induced coma on November 16.

Mrs Almeida says they were just three days away from having her ventilator turned off when her condition started to improve and she woke up on December 14.

When she woke up doctors at Lincoln County Hospital revealed they had given her a large dose of viagra as part of an experimental treatment regime that she agreed to before going into a coma.

The erectile dysfunction drug enables greater blood flow to all areas of the body by relaxing the walls of blood vessels, and Mrs Almeida says it caused her condition to improve in just a week and the level of oxygen she needed to drop by half as it opened up her airways.

Texas election audit identifies nearly 12,000 foreigners suspected of registering to vote
[JustTheNews] Suspected non-citizen voters have been referred to counties for investigation, and more than 2,000 have already been removed from rolls, Texas Secretary of State John Scott reports.

An audit of Texas voter rolls identified nearly 12,000 non-citizens suspected of illegally registering to vote and nearly 600 cases in which ballots may have been cast in the name of a dead resident or by a voter who may also have voted in another state.

Texas Secretary of State John Scott released the findings of the first phase of his audit on the last day of 2021, announcing 224,585 deceased residents were removed from state voters rolls as a result of the review

Statewide, a total of 11,737 potential non-U.S. citizens were identified as being registered to cast ballots, with the lion’s share located in the counties around Texas two largest cities of Houston and Dallas. It is illegal for foreigners to vote in Texas elections.

Last month Scott described why his office launched its first-of-a-kind audit of elections.

"What we’re trying to do make sure there is a little more confidence in the system, in the election integrity," Scott told a local TV interviewer. "And I think this is one of the hopes of the audit is, to show folks it is very safe. It is secure. Your vote does count when you cast it.

"And where we find issues, we’re going to address those issues," he added.

Scott’s report Friday criticized some counties for not acting quick enough to investigate the non-citizen status of voters, saying several counties missed a deadline that will now delay their investigations until spring of 2022.

"While several counties took action promptly to work their potential non-U.S. citizen matches, others did not begin investigating or send notices of examination until mid to late November of 2021," Scott’s report said.

"As a result, the 30-day window in which the registrant could provide proof of U.S. citizenship fell after the federally-required NVRA moratorium on voter registration cancellations had begun," it added. "This means that many potential non-U.S. citizens identified through the agreed-upon process would have until, at the latest, May 25, 2022 to respond to a notice of examination before their voter registration is cancelled."

So far 2,327 of the 11,737 suspected non-citizen registrations have been canceled — more than half in Dallas alone — and the Secretary of State office is now investigating whether those canceled voters illegally cast ballots in prior elections, Scott’s report said.

The audit also found several other small irregularities, including:

  • 509 potential cross-state duplicate votes were cast in the November 2020 General Election, meaning voters may have cast a ballot in both Texas and another state

  • 67 potential votes were cast in November 2020 in the name of deceased people and are under investigation.

  • A sampling of four counties found three had discrepancies between the votes tallied by machines and those later checked by hand. Those discrepancies are due to be further investigated in the second phase of the audit.

Pakistan now infiltrating its Army personnel into India
[OneIndia] The Indian Army foiled an attempt by the Pakistain Army's Border Action Team (BAT) in the Keran Sector. Swift action by the troops on the Line of Control foiled a bud and eliminated a Pak terrorist, Major General AS Pendharkar, GOC 28 Infantry Division, said.

Meanwhile the Indian Army has asked Pakistain to take back the body of the infiltrator who was killed while he was trying to cross the LoC in the Keran Sector of Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
's Kupwara.

The man killed has been identified as Mohammad Shabir Malik. The Indian Army suspect that he may have been part of Pakistain's BAT. The Army said that the incident site was located on the Pakistain side of our anti-infiltration obstacle system. The infiltration attempt was spotted early. Ambushes were laid and the infiltrator was eliminated, following which the body was recovered. One AK rifle, ammunition, and seven grenades were also recovered, Major General Pendharkar said.

He also said that the incident clearly establishes that Pakistain continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism. A hotline communication has been made to the Pakistain Army from our side asking them to take the body of the infiltrator back.

He further added that a search of the belongings of the slain Pakistain national revealed a Pakistain national ID card and vaccination certificate issued by the country's Ministry of Health. The photo on the card shows the man in a Pakistain armed forces uniform Major General Pendharkar also said. He also added that the infiltration attempt was a complete breach of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistain that was announced in February last year.

IDF nabs another suspected accomplice in Friday’s stabbing attempt
[IsraelTimes] Military says it arrested 2 men believed to have driven with assailant to bus stop outside Ariel settlement, where attacker was rubbed out after trying to stab people.

Israeli security forces on Sunday morning arrested the second suspected accomplice of a Paleostinian man who was rubbed out after an attempted stabbing attack outside the Ariel settlement on Friday, the military said.

The suspect was arrested in the Paleostinian village of Haris in the northern West Bank, not far from the site of the attempted stabbing, in the predawn hours of Sunday morning, the Israel Defense Forces said.

On Friday morning, the Paleostinian attacker — Amir Atef Rayan, 37, from Qarawat Bani Hassan — got out of a car at Gitai Avishar Junction outside Ariel in the northern West Bank, armed with a knife, and approached a bus stop, where civilians and soldiers were standing.

Troops at the scene opened fire, fatally wounding Rayan, who was pronounced dead in a nearby hospital.

The military immediately launched a manhunt for the other people in the car that had transported Rayan to the scene. One suspect was arrested on Friday afternoon.

Overnight, Israeli forces arrested the second suspected accomplice in Haris, whom the IDF said was apparently the driver of the car.

Senior West Bank Hamas official to be charged with incitement, supporting terror
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, co-founder Hassan Yusef has spent years in and out of Israeli jail, mostly under administrative detention; indictment comes as tensions rise between Israel, Hamas

Hamas co-founder Hassan Yusef will be charged in the coming days in an Israeli military court for incitement to terror and supporting a terror group, Israel Police said in a statement on Sunday.

Yusef, a senior figure in Hamas’s West Bank division, is seen as a relative moderate in the terror group’s apparatus. Since helping found the Hamas terror movement in the 1980s, Yusef has been arrested numerous times and spent years in Israeli prisons, much of it in administrative detention.

Israeli forces arrested Yusef in mid-December, one of dozens of Paleostinians picked up in operations following a wave of terror attacks. In the announcement on Sunday, police tied Yusef’s arrest to a speech he gave following an attack by a Hamas member in Jerusalem’s Old City.

In mid-December, Hamas member Fadi Abu Shkhaydam opened fire on passersby near the Old City’s Chain Gate, killing an Israeli civilian, Eli Kay, before being rubbed out. Yusef arrived at the Shkhaydam family’s mourning tent later to give a fiery
...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob...
speech.

"The suspect arrived at the mourning tent of the terrorist’s family who carried out the shooting attack, where he praised the terrorist’s actions and even conveyed the condolences of the Hamas movement to his family," Israel Police said in a statement.

It was not clear what investigation police actually conducted over the past few weeks to clarify Yusef’s crimes, as he is an avowed member of the terror group who regularly speaks publicly on its behalf, including to The Times of Israel. The speech referenced by police was streamed on Facebook.

"We will march forward, and there is no force in this land that can break our will," Yusef said, telling Abu Shkhaydam’s family that he was there as the representative of Hamas’s leadership.

Hamas claims that Yusef is only active in its political wing, not its military wing, and has no direct involvement in terror operations. Both branches of the terror group avowedly seek to destroy Israel.

Capitol’s most violent rioters now claim to be ashamed, pleading for mercy
[IsraelTimes] While most sentences have so far been relatively lenient, dozens of the most serious cases are still working through the system, including many that have not yet gone to trial.

Judges are hearing tearful expressions of remorse — and a litany of excuses — from rioters paying a price for joining the Jan. 6 insurrection, even as others try to play down the deadly attack on a seat of American democracy.

The Justice Department’s investigation of the riot has now entered the punishment phase. So far, 71 people have been sentenced for riot-related crimes. They include a company CEO, an architect, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, a gym owner, a former Houston police officer and a University of Kentucky student. Many rioters have said they lost jobs and friends after their mob of Donald Trump

propaganda video of a missile hitting mock-up of Dimona nuclear site.

At least two Israeli media sites were apparently hacked early Monday with warnings from an Iranian propaganda video and linked to the second anniversary of the liquidation of top general Qassem Soleimani

The website of the Jerusalem Post showed a scene from an Iranian missile drill last month in which Tehran destroyed a mock-up of Israel’s nuclear reactor in Dimona.

In the picture, the rocket appears to be fired from the iconic ring of Soleimani, with the caption: "We are close to you where you do not think about it," in English and Hebrew.

The Twitter account of the Maariv newspaper, which has the same owners as the English-language Post, briefly held the same message, but soon took it down.

The Post said it was working to restore its site.

Demolition order issued for home of Hamas terrorist who carried out deadly shooting
[IsraelTimes] The Israeli military issues a demolition order for the home of a Paleostinian terrorist behind a deadly terror attack in November in Jerusalem’s Old City.

On November 21, Fadi Abu Shkhaydam shot up a number of Israeli men in the alleyways of the Old City, killing one man, Eliyahu Kay, and injuring four others, two of them seriously. Border Police officers returned fire, killing Abu Shkhaydam.

The military initiated the process of demolishing Abu Shkaydam’s home in East Jerusalem’s Shuafat refugee camp shortly after the attack. His family appealed the decision in court, but their requests were rejected.

The head of the Israel Defense Forces’ Home Front Command, Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin, signed the seizure and demolition order for Abu Shkaydam’s home, the military.
Courtesy of Skidmark, the Jerusalem Post adds:
Although violent attacks in the West Bank have jumped significantly over the past year, the number of deaths from terror attacks is the lowest in a decade.

According to data released by the military, there have been 5,532 incidents of rocks being thrown, 1,022 Molotov cocktails thrown, 61 shooting attacks and 18 stabbing attacks over the past year.

says that if Israel does not come to a prisoner accord with the terror group, it will kidnap more Israelis.

"We have four prisoners, and if Israel is not convinced by that, then we will add to our stash," Haniyeh says in comments circulated in official Hamas media.

Israel and Hamas have held indirect talks in an attempt to reach a prisoner exchange for years. The terror group holds two live Israeli captives and the bodies of two Israeli soldiers. Repeated negotiation attempts have failed to bear fruit.

Iraqi forces arrest three ISIS suspects near Erbil
[Rudaw] Iraqi forces arrested a number of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) suspects near the Kurdish capital, the US-led Coalition said on Sunday as the resurgence of the terror group threatens the security of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Directorate (CTD) detained three ISIS affiliates near Erbil in an operation conducted on Saturday night, the Coalition’s Special Operations Joint Task Force-Levant said in a tweet, without disclosing the exact location of the arrests.

"These operations ensure that ISIS is unable to harass the people of Iraq," it added.

The Iraqi forces have not yet commented on the arrests.

The turbans have taken shelter in a security vacuum in areas disputed between Erbil and Baghdad, stretching across several provinces including Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
Salahaddin, and Diyala.

The terror group has conducted 229 attacks in the disputed territories in the first 11 months of 2021, a Peshmerga official told Rudaw on Monday. The attacks killed 356 people while 480 others were maimed.

Iraqi and Kurdish officials are in protracted talks to form two joint brigades in these areas. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Services (ICTS) Spokesperson Sabah al-Numan told Rudaw English on Monday that the brigades will be established within the first two months of the current year.

Multiple ISIS suspects have recently been arrested.

Iraqi forces arrested five members of the Death Eater group in Kirkuk on December 23, five days after the Kurdish security forces detained a group of ISIS affiliates in Erbil.

In its propaganda magazine on Thursday, ISIS claimed to have conducted 10 attacks in Iraq from December 23 to December 29, killing and injuring 36 people.

Taliban deny release of suicide attacker on Kabul Airport
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reacted to US claims over releasing the "ISIS-K affiliate" who carried out a suicide kaboom on Kabul International Airport that killed nearly 200 people including US marines.

A spokesperson of the IEA Bilal Karimi in a series of Twitter posts on Sunday, January 2, 2022, said that the release of the perpetrator of the August 26 attack is "baseless" and there is no proof of the claim.

Bilal Karimi said that the timeframe between the release of prisoners from Bagram prison and the suicide attack was too narrow and that it was not possible to plan an attack during that short time.

He added that the ISIS-K prisoners were freed before they (Taliban

"The affiliates of ISIS-K were released before Taliban gain full control of prisons. We have eliminated or arrested back those who affiliated the terror group." Reads a Twitter post.

Kamala Harris' Book Is Out With The Imperious Title 'I'm Speaking'
Do you think a Republican vice president who wrote a book (of the non-coloring variety) while still in office would be getting these verbal blowjobs? In a way that's kind of ironic...
[Red State] - Reviews Hawking New Kamala Harris Book 'I'm Speaking' Are the Funniest Snow Job I've Ever Seen

OK, maybe not ever — but for sure, in a long time.

"The gift that keeps on giving." Perhaps an overused trope. But in the case of the most inept vice president in at least modern history, the woman whose picture should be included in the dictionary next to every definition of "trope" — Kamala Harris — it couldn’t be more spot-on.

In this episode, we discuss the book "I’m Speaking: Words and Strength and Wisdom from Vice President Kamala Harris," written by author Mary Zaia.

"Kamala Harris wants your voice to be heard," America, begins the silly sales job on goodreads.com, which is complete and utter nonsense. Kamala Harris wants nothing more than Kamala Harris’s voice to be heard. Interspersed with ridiculous, inappropriately-timed cackling, of course.
I’m Speaking is a collection of the empowering words of a trailblazing vice president who believes we can reach a better, stronger tomorrow together.
Reminds me of an old Star Trek - The Next Generation episode where Picard, Worf & other Enterprise brass are at some Starfleet base and the base commander / Admiral is holding court, babbling on about this & that. Worf turns to someone from the Enterprise and says - "He talks much, but says little". I'm not sure 'little' describes this waste of tree pulp.

Envoy: Iran Will Not Recognize Kabul Until Govt is Inclusive (!)
[Tolo] I almost swallowed my tongue the first time I read this. Someone left the irony on.
Iran’s ambassador in Kabul said that his country will not recognize the current Afghan government unless its government is inclusive.

He made the remarks in a special interview with TOLOnews’ Bahram Aman in Kabul.

Ambassador Bahadur Aminian said that Tehran might persuade other countries to recognize the Afghan government if the Islamic Emirate brings reforms to its government structure.

"If a group comes (to power) and the group is (comprised) of a single ethnic group and all other ethnic groups are not included in the government, we don’t accept it, and, therefore, we benevolently call on the Taliban rulers to form an inclusive government," he said.

But the Islamic Emirate said Aminian’s remarks are an attempt to interfere in Afghan affairs.

"Is the government or the cabinet of Iran based on other people's definition of inclusive?" said Inamullah Samangani, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate. "Every country has their own definition of inclusive government based on their national interests."

"This government should be inclusive based on the Afghan nation’s wishes, not based on foreign countries’ interference," said Sayed Javad Husseini, leader of Hezb-e-Adalat wa Tawsa.

The Iranian ambassador said that the current economic crisis will pave the way for extremism, particularly for Daesh.

"If the economic problems remain, it will cause more migration. If the economic problems remain, they will cause extremism, which will not only threaten Afghanistan but also the region," he said.

Aminian, however, denied reports that Iranian forces were treating Afghan refugees violently, saying that approximately four million Afghans are settled in Iran.

Iran's government provided educational opportunities for the Afghan refugees, he said.

Aminian is optimistic over the US withdrawal of Afghanistan and says that Tehran considers it part of its revenge against Washington for the killing of Qasem Soleimani, a senior Iranian military official, who was killed by a US drone strike in January 2020 in Iraq.

Ukrainian national security head says no Russian invasion
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFrontInfo] Kiev has to begin to admit that there will be no such long-awaited Russian invasion and there is no threat of "aggression" for Ukraine.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that the statements about the pulling of Russian troops to the border with the "square" do not correspond to reality. About itinforms edition of RIA Novosti, referring to his speech on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel "NASH".

"If we talk about a large crowd, which the media abroad insist on, then we do not see this ... we keep track of everything and are aware of what is happening. Today we do not see threats for open aggression from Russia," he said.

However, he also could not completely abandon the line on which Washington so insists. Danilov said that Kiev will continue to monitor the situation in the future. Therefore, one cannot say that Ukraine has decided to be guided by common sense. Perhaps this is just his brief outburst, timed to coincide with the upcoming talks between Russia, NATO, the United States and the OSCE on security assurance projects.

2 killed when train hits car going around crossing gate
[NBC Miami] Two people have died after the vehicle they were in was struck by a Brightline train in Aventura.

The crash happened along West Dixie Highway near 214th Terrace, at around 6 a.m., Thursday.

The Toyota involved could be seen mangled on the side of the street.

Nearby surveillance cameras captured the vehicle stopped on the train tracks before being hit by the train.

Brightline officials said the crash was “a direct result of an individual driving around the gates, which were down, flashing and bells ringing, signaling an approaching train.”

No injuries were reported on board the train, according to Brightline officials.

According to Aventura Police, the Toyota was attempting to cross the railroad tracks while the safety gates were in the down position. Subsequently, the vehicle became stuck on the tracks when it was struck by the train. Two occupants in the vehicle died from their injuries.

Investigators shut down 214th Terrace as they worked the scene. It has since been reopened.

“It’s amazing how it ended up over there. It must have been some force because the train you can see is down the tracks a little bit, and the car is here, closer towards the lights,” said Steve Samansky, a driver in the area. “It just must have been unbearable.”

“It was hard to see,” said Caesar Tavares who lives nearby. “I knew right away the train hit somebody because it was real loud. The car was rolling. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Then all of a sudden it stopped.”

Tavares said, sadly, people do this all the time, but this is the first time he’s seen it cause this kind of destruction.

“The train comes here every 15 minutes and people are always stopping on the tracks. I knew it was bound to happen.”

Neighbors said they hope this doesn’t happen again.

“You know, all you gotta do is wait a few seconds. These trains usually pass by fast,” one man said.

The vehicle has since been towed from the scene.

Former Plateau Governorship Aspirant Kidnapped By Gunmen
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Some button men on Saturday kidnapped a former governorship aspirant in the 2019 election in Plateau State, Nkemi Nicholas Nshe.

Nshe is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, who served as Chairman of Shendam Local Government Area of the state at different periods in the past.

He was kidnapped at his residence in the council area in the early hours of New Year's Day, Punch reports.

One of Nshe's associates in Shendam, who lamented the abduction of the former council boss, said the incident was causing tension in the area.

He said, "Please join us in praying for the release of Dr Nkemi Nshe who was forcefully kidnapped from his Shendam residence in the early hours of Saturday being the New Year day, January 1, 2022. It was in the night that the button men came to his house and whisked him away. They did not go with his phone.

"The incident is rather unfortunate. We don’t know where they have taken him to. But yesterday evening (Saturday), I learnt that the kidnappers called the family members through the phone number of the son and demanded N100million ransom which they later reduced to N50million.

"Where will they get that kind of money when people are just suffering everywhere? It baffles me why the Federal Government through the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy would make Nigerians go through hard experiences by subjecting them to SIM card registration and yet, this kind of thing would be happening without the perpetrators being apprehended.

Europe
Majority seek refugee protections after reaching Germany, report says
[DW] EU rules call for the nation where asylum-seekers first enter the bloc to process requests for protection. But most applications in Germany come from people other EU countries failed to register, a media report says.

The majority of asylum applications in Germany last year were from people not registered at the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
's external borders, the Welt am Sonntag newspaper reported Sunday.

Citing figures from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). the paper said 53% of first-time applicants aged 14 and over were not listed on the Eurodac fingerprint database during the first 11 months of 2021.

The fingerprints of 74,837 applicants who met the criteria were compared with the EU database, which showed that 35,245 claimants had previously applied for refugee status, the paper reported.

In total, 172,370 claims for asylum, including children, were made in Germany from January to November.

Eurodac was set up in 2003 to handle the fingerprint identification of everyone who applies for asylum in any EU country, as many people arrive without paper identification documents.

ASYLUM SHOULD BE REQUESTED ON ARRIVAL
The BAMF data revealed that many refugees in Germany had not made their claim for asylum when they first set foot on EU soil — in countries like Greece, Italia, Poland or Lithuania — which sit at the bloc's land or sea borders.

Under the EU's Dublin III regulation, asylum applications must be registered in the arrival country, which is then responsible for processing the person's request for protection.

One of the principles of the regulation is to stop multiple applications for asylum in several EU states.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
countries in southern and eastern Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
have complained they carry a heavier burden, when most asylum applicants would rather take refuge in wealthier countries in western and northern Europe.

The measure has also been labeled unworkable, as most refugees move between EU countries and asylum applicants aren't often returned to their arrival country.

As Germany doesn't lie on the EU's external border, under the Dublin rules the number of asylum claims should be much lower.

GERMANY RECEIVES MORE APPLICATIONS
Data from the EU's statistics agency Eurostat showed Germany's share of all asylum claims made in the EU was 28.4%, compared with 20% for La Belle France, 11% for Spain and 8% for Italia.

Alexander Throm, a spokesperson for the center-right bloc in the German parliament, the Bundestag, said the data "drastically demonstrates the dysfunctionality of the Dublin system."

He told Welt am Sonntag that the registration and return of asylum-seekers are fundamental precepts of the EU's asylum system.

He called on Germany's new coalition government to demand better compliance with the Dublin rules.

"To disproportionately relieve other EU states by redistribution despite the registration deficiencies, as the coalition agreement envisages, is the wrong signal," Throm said.

The German government's coalition agreement calls for a "forward-looking and realistic" migration policy and adds that "irregular migration" should be reduced.

Democrat township commissioner charged with rape of 15-year-old boy in Philadelphia
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] A Democrat township commissioner in Pennsylvania has been arrested for an alleged rape of a minor that occurred four years ago.

Darby Township PA Commissioner Marvin E. Smith has been charged with rape and related offenses for luring a 15-year-old boy into his vehicle and sexually assaulting him in 2017.

According to 6ABC, Darby Township Commissioner Marvin E. Smith turned himself in and has been charged with rape, sexual assault, luring, and related offences. Smith currently serves as the 1st Ward Commissioner for Darby Township and was elected as a Democrat in 2019.

According to police, the victim told Sherlocks in 2019 that he had been sexually assaulted by Smith two years prior. The alleged assault took place in August 2017, when Smith reportedly approached the young boy in West Philadelphia and offered him a ride home. He allegedly posed as a family friend.

Smith then drove the child to a park, exposed himself, and sexually assaulted the boy, according to authorities. He then dropped off the young boy at "an unknown location" and drove away, according to police.

6ABC notes, "It's unclear why authorities didn't arrest Smith for two years after the initial report was made and why he didn't surrender for weeks after a warrant was issued."

The cost of war

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin

You can read the full report in English here (PDF)

[ColonelCassad] The wars unleashed by the United States since September 11, 2001, have displaced 38 million civilians.
As opposed to the wars that the other guys had been waging, acknowledged only in Arabic or other native tongues, either against The Big Satan or against other benighted natives?
Which is the second result in world history. Only World War II led to more refugees.

Direct military aggression, the so-called "fight against terrorism", which led to the creation of ISIS, economic strangulation - all this led to catastrophic consequences for the population of a number of states in the Middle East, as well as North Africa, forcing ordinary people to flee their homes. cities, villages and states to other countries.

According to the report of the Watson Institute for International Studies (an interdisciplinary research center at Brown University, USA, Rhode Island) and with the assistance of Boston University:

1. Afghanistan - 5.9 million refugees
2. Pakistan - 3.7 million refugees
3. Yemen - 4.6 million refugees
4. Somalia - 4.3 million refugees
5. Philippines - 1.8 million refugees
6. Libya - 1.2 million refugees
7. Syria - 7.1 million refugees

The report is based on data from 2001 to 2020 + some data collected already in 2021.

It was based on UN data, American documents and information from open sources.

At the same time, the report itself indicates that 38,000,000 is a very conservative estimate and in reality, the figure can reach from 49,000,000 to 60,000,000, which actually reaches the indicators of the Second World War.

Of the 38,000,000 displaced persons 20 years ago, 26.7 million people were able to return (which does not mean that they returned to the same house or city, only the return to the territory of the country from which people fled from the war is taken into account).

All countries covered in the report were part of the target group of countries to be "rebuilt" as part of the 2007 Greater Middle East Transformation Project.

To these processes can be added a huge number of refugees from Ukraine after the US-supported coup d'état and the civil war unleashed there.

Researchers discover ruins of ancient Jewish community in Morocco
[JPost] Suddenly the 4,569th 5th most holy site in Islam
Researchers from Israel, Morocco and France have discovered remnants of a small Jewish community in the mountains of Morocco, Haaretz reported Monday.

The ruins of the community’s synagogue in the small village of Tamanart — located on the outskirts of the Sahara desert — were found while conducting a preliminary survey of Jewish sites in the area and after talking to locals who remembered their Jewish neighbors who left the area 70 years ago.

The researchers say Jews lived here from the 16th century until the early 19th century. They recovered scriptures, documents, and Kabbalist amulets from the synagogue’s genizah, or hiding place for worn texts that are no longer usable.

Orit Ouaknine-Yekutieli, a researcher of modern Morocco at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, told Haaretz that the site’s synagogue had been damaged by looters as well as by natural events like floods, but the researchers were able to salvage texts and transfer them to a secure location for further analysis.

The discovery comes weeks after King Mohammed VI of Morocco ordered the restoration of hundreds of Jewish sites across the kingdom, and a year after Israel and Morocco agreed to formal diplomatic relations. The restoration plan includes the site at Tamanart, as well as cemeteries and hundreds of synagogues.

SMC confirms Shafaq News agency's exclusive info concerning the Jableh massacre
[SHAFAQ] The Security Media Cell disclosed new details on the Jableh massacre.

The head of the Cell, Saad Maen, stated to the semi-official al-Iraqiya channel that the Ministry of Interior's statement on the incident was preliminary and undetailed.

"What happened was a crime, and an irresponsible misuse of power", Maen said, noting that the security forces, at the time, received inaccurate information confirming that there were two holy warriors in the victims' house.

He added that 12 children were killed in the house in Jableh, pointing that 14 suspects are arrested until the moment.

These updates confirmed Shafaq News agency's exclusive report on the incident.

Shafaq News reveals shocking details in Jableh crime: intelligence officer accused his relative of Terrorism
[SHAFAQ] 2021-12-31 13:01
Shafaq News/ "On Thursday, December 30, at 1500 [Iraq time], an officer in the Iraqi Intelligence in Jableh sub-district of Babel Governorate revealed that a group of people wanted according to Article 4/Terrorism in the residence of Rahim Kadhem Obada al-Ghariri in al-Rachayed area."

"Immediately, a force from Jableh's Intelligence rushed to the location. Upon their arrival, the owner of the house opened fire toward the members of the patrol."

"According to the statements of the officer, the District's magistrate was contacted to obtain approvals, and a SWAT force was deployed," official wire seen by Shafaq News Agency said.

"The SWAT force encircled the house, and festivities erupted between them and the owner, who refused to surrender even though he shot two officers... At 1900, the confrontation ended, and the force entered the house to find out that all the family members, 20 persons including children and elders, were killed."

Three security officials revealed to Shafaq News Agency the shocking circumstances of the gruesome incident that rendered the Ministry of Interior's undersecretary for Intelligence Affairs, Ahmed Abu Ragheef, rush to the scene of the crime.

The sources said that a disagreement erupted between the house owner and a relative of him who is an intelligence officer. The latter exploited his ties to deploy a security force in order to arrest his relative after claiming he is a member of the terrorist organization of ISIS.

The armed festivities between the security force and the house owner, and his son prompted the attacking force to deploy heavy weapons, killing the entire family.

Another source said that Babel's Police Commander and head of Intelligence were summoned to investigation per the orders by the Minister of Interior, Othman al-Ghanmi.

The Security Media Cell (SMC) said in a statement earlier today that the security force was pursuing two holy warriors and engaged with them.

In a statement to Shafaq News Agency, security expert, retired Brigadier-General Adnan al-Kinani, said, "the plan of the attack was not successful. Any wanted person could be arrested outside his residence instead of engaging with him in a confrontation the way it happened."

"The incident is classified as a criminal act in case prior judicial proceedings were not obtained. The issuance of the warrant during the festivities is a dangerous sign. It is also a criminal act."

"The report of the forensic team that examined the scene can be issued within hours. They can compare the type of the bullets and the distance they were fired from to the weapons and bullets of both sides... Was the killer the head of the family or a security force? They can tell from the number of bullets in the victims' bodies. Moreover, the security forces usually shoot in the head or chest at a close distance. These hypotheses can aid the investigation to identify the culprits."

Two Kurds detained by Turkish military near Erbil are still in custody for the fourth day
[SHAFAQ] For the fourth consecutive day, the Ottoman Turkish military kept two young Kurds in detention after capturing them in the vicinity of Kurdistan's capital city, Erbil, last week.

Informed sources told Shafaq News Agency that the detainees were caught near a Ottoman Turkish base in the company of a woman residing in the Ottoman Turkish Kurds' camps in Makhmour.

"The motives of accompanying this woman or their presence in that area are not known. Did they intend to cross the borders? Were they on a hunting trip as claimed by their relatives?"

Usually, the Ottoman Turkish army releases the citizens who approach its bases inside the Iraqi territory after a brief detention. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
those two young Kurds are still in jug even after four days of their capture.

Multiple sources revealed that the two citizens were transferred into the Ottoman Turkish territory.

Europe
French 75mm of 1897
From the video description:
[MilitaryFactory] The French 75 is widely regarded as the first modern artillery piece. It was the first field gun to include a hydro-pneumatic recoil mechanism, which kept the gun's trail and wheels perfectly still during the firing sequence.

Since it did not need to be re-aimed after each shot, the crew could reload and fire as soon as the barrel returned to its resting position. In typical use the French 75 could deliver fifteen rounds per minute on its target, either shrapnel or high-explosive, up to about 8,500 m (5.3 mi) away. Its firing rate could even reach close to 30 rounds per minute, albeit only for a very short time and with a highly experienced crew.

The concept for the gun anticipated future conflict being a war of manoeuver - with massed infantry and cavalry attacks - based on the experience of the wars of 1870-1872. Consequently the gun was designed to be able to be moved easily, set up quickly and fire antipersonnel shells (shrapnel) rapidly, and without the need to reset the carriage after each shot.

Two critical components were the cased ammunition (shell and cartridge as a single unit) and a recoil system that completely absorbed the recoil forces and returned the gun to its original position without disturbing the gun’s position.

This animation shows the actions necessary to prepare the gun from its 'travelling' state to operational state. The carriage has to be ‘locked’ into a fixed position and levelled. The operation of shrapnel shells depends upon setting a time fuse to explode the shell just in front of an attacking force, to shower them with balls, and demonstrates the French Débouchoir mechanical fuse setter that allowed time fuses to be set rapidly and accurately.

The liquid(oil) and air (pneumatic) recoil mechanism used a ‘floating piston’ - on one side hydraulic oil and on the other compressed air. The design must keep these two separated while allowing the free piston to move rapidly. The French design laid great emphasis on seals made of silver - being soft enough to conform to the sleeve housing, but as reported by the US when they started manufacturing the 75mm, the key element was highly precise machining of the sleeve housing the free piston.

The French 75mm of 1897 was of less use with the introduction of trench warfare, where Howitzers and mortars being the primary artillery, but the 75mm retained some value, one use being firing shrapnel shells at aircraft. A longer time fuse had to be developed to reach the altitude that some aircraft flew at.

...It's been pointed out that at the beginning of WWII, the 75 was probably the best anti-tank weapon on the planet. The French had thousands of them stored away along with enough ammo to keep them firing for months - had they the imagination to picture the Germans coming through the 'impassable' Ardnennes, deploying them there (Hell, deploying them ANYWHWERE) would have drastically changed the Battle of France.

Africa North
Mali parties reject army's five-year democratic transition
[Al Ahram] The army has dominated landlocked and conflict-wracked Mali since August 2020, carrying out two coups and postponing elections it had previously committed to hold next month.

Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop submitted the new plans to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Saturday, following a national reform conference boycotted by political parties and social organizations.

The plans are for a five-year prolongation of the transition period, starting from January 1.

The coalition, representing around 10 parties, said the timetable violates the transition charter, "has not been discussed in Mali and cannot in any way be the deep desire of the Malian people".

"Consequently, the group rejects this unilateral and unreasonable timetable," it added in a statement.

Coalition front man Sekou Niame Bathily told AFP the parties "dissassociate" themselves from the military government's plan and want "to proceed with quickly organising elections".

ECOWAS, which has threatened to impose sanctions on Mali's ruling junta for postponing the elections, will hold an extraordinary summit on Mali in Ghana's capital Accra on January 9.

Colonel Assimi Goita has led Mali since an August 2020 coup ousted former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, after weeks of street protests over perceived corruption and Keita's handling of a bloody jihadist insurgency.

Under pressure from La Belle France and Mali's neighbours, Goita pledged that Mali would return to civilian rule in February after holding presidential and legislative elections.

But he staged a de facto second coup in May 2021, forcing out an interim civilian government and disrupting the timetable.

The junta cited persistent insecurity in Mali's restive north in its decision to postpone the elections.

Two-thirds of the country's territory is out of the government's control as self-defence militias and gunnies affiliated with al-Qaeda and the so-called Islamic State

Iran's Revolutionary Guards say 9 killed in shootout in southeast
[Al Ahram] The latest festivities in Sistan-Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
broke out around a hideout of hard boyz near a village in the centre of the province, the Guards said late Saturday on their Sepah News website.

Sistan-Balochistan, bordering Pakistain and Afghanistan, is a flashpoint for festivities with smuggling gangs as well as separatists from the Baluchi minority and holy warrior murderous Moslem groups.

"Six bandidos were killed and five others maimed," the Sepah News report said, while three members of the Basij, a paramilitary force linked to the Guards, also died. No arrests were announced.

On Friday, the Guards said they had "targeted and killed the perpetrators" behind an attack that left two of their members dead on December 25 in the same province.

On November 18, three police, including a colonel, were killed and six maimed in fighting with an gang in an area bordering Sistan-Balochistan.

In recent years, the most active rebel group in Sistan-Balochistan has been the jihadist outfit Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice), which has carried out several high-profile bombings and abductions.

In February 2019, 27 Guards were killed in a suicide kaboom on their bus.

Africa Subsaharan
Suspect arrested in connection with South African parliament fire
[GEO.TV] A fire at the South African parliament caused extensive damage on Sunday, collapsing the roof and gutting an entire floor in one building and a man in his 50s was arrested in connection with the blaze.

The fire broke out in the early morning and authorities said the sprinkler system appeared to have been tampered with and so did not work. By afternoon, firefighters were still trying to contain the blaze in one of the several buildings that make up the parliament complex in the legislative capital, Cape Town.

A person was arrested inside parliament, Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia De Lille told news hounds, adding that the case had been handed over to an elite police unit called the Hawks.

"It's the role of the Hawks to investigate any attack on political institutions," De Lille said.

Parliament said in a statement the suspect was a man in his 50s.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The cause of the blaze was not yet known but De Lille said that according to a report that she received, a standard maintenance fire drill had been conducted just before parliament closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays and everything including the sprinklers was working.

"What was discovered this morning is that somebody has closed one of the valves and so then there was no water to trigger that automatic sprinkler system coming on," De Lille said, adding that CCTV footage confirmed that somebody was in the building from the early hours of the morning.

President Cyril Ramaphosa told news hounds after visiting the site that parliament's work would continue despite the blaze. He also praised firefighters for saving a "very important national asset of our government".

A report by PUNCH confirmed that Enejeta, who is the General Overseer of Faith Fasting and Prayer Ministry in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, was released on Saturday evening at Samagidi community.

According to sources, the kidnappers released Prophet Enejeta after receiving a sum of N10million as ransom.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
this was not without an exchange of gunfire between the kidnappers said to be Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
herdsmen and the hunters.

The kidnappers had reportedly demanded N20million initially but after pressures from security operatives and the combined team of vigilante, hunters and members of the anti-cult group, the criminals accepted the N10million, which was hurriedly mobilised by the clergyman’s family and associates.

Enejeta had been kidnapped last Thursday night while returning home after a church programme while his wife Pastor Ruth Enejeta, was rubbed out during the incident.

The holy man has been hospitalised at an undisclosed hospital in Eku where he is presently recuperating.

Runaway frenzied elephant herd breaks into Bangladesh park
[GEO.TV] COX'S BAZAR, BANGLADESH: A herd of endangered wild elephants are rampaging through a safari park in Bangladesh, with officials warning Sunday the creatures were acting aggressively and posed a serious safety threat. The herd of at least 13 elephants knocked down a seven-foot (two-metre) concrete wall to break into the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park, north of the resort city of Cox's Bazar, earlier this week.

"They are very restless, frightened and acting as if they are cornered. They are now very dangerous for other animals and our visitors," said park official Mazharul Islam.

The reserve is home to over 1,300 animals — including Bengal tigers, hippos and other threatened species — and sees around 5,000 visitors each day in winter.

"We are worried for the park's visitors," Islam said. "Night patrolling is getting difficult as the elephants are very agitated and they go wild very easily."

Fewer than 100 elephants remain in the South Asian country, where shrinking habitats and dwindling food supplies have resulted in growing conflict with humans.

Another official said the elephants were frightened because of increasing encroachment on their land by farmers and the killing of a dozen members of their herd in the past two years.

Scarcity of food has driven elephants to invade rice fields where they were often killed by electric fences, he added.

Sudan's PM Hamdok steps down
[Al Ahram] Sudan Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok announced his resignation in a televised speech on Sunday. The country has been plunged into turmoil since military leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan de facto leader since the ouster of Bashir launched a military takeover on October 25 and detained Hamdok.

Hamdok was reinstated on November 21, but mass protests have continued as demonstrators distrust veteran general Burhan and his promises of seeking to guide the country toward full democracy.

"I have tried my best to stop the country from sliding towards disaster," he said, addressing the nation.

"In view of the fragmentation of the political forces and conflicts between the (military and civilian) components of the transition... despite everything that has been done to reach a consensus... it has not happened", he said.

Sudan "is crossing a dangerous turning point that threatens its whole survival", he added.

Activists have kept up a more than two-month-long campaign of street demonstrations against the army's takeover, despite a crackdown that has seen at least 53 people killed and hundreds injured in protest-related violence, according to the pro-democracy Doctors' Committee group.

Those rallies have been repeatedly broken up by security forces firing rounds of tear gas, as well as charges by police wielding batons and shooting bullets into the air.

Activists say 2022 will be "the year of the continuation of the resistance" in posts on social media.

They demand both justice for the dozens killed since the coup, as well the more than 250 killed during the mass protests that began in 2019 that paved the way for the toppling of Bashir.

Afghan agents pour 3,000 litres of liquor into Kabul canal
[Al Ahram] Video footage released by the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) showed its agents pouring alcohol stored in barrels into the canal after seizing it during a raid in the capital.

"Moslems have to seriously abstain from making and delivering alcohol," an intelligence official said in the footage the agency posted on Twitter on Sunday.

It was not clear when the raid was carried out or exactly when the alcohol was destroyed, but a statement issued by the agency said three dealers were arrested during the operation.

Selling and consuming alcohol was banned even under the previous Western-backed regime, but the Taliban

Since the Islamists seized power on August 15, the frequency of raids, including on drug addicts, has increased across the country.

The Taliban government's Ministry for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has also issued several guidelines restricting women's rights.
