Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Sunday a.m.: Planned start time of ceasefire passes without Hamas sending names of hostages to be freed today, so IDF continues Gaza strikes
[IsraelTimes] As the planned start time of the ceasefire passes, Hamas has still not sent the list of three female hostages set to be released later today.

The ceasefire had been set to take effect at 8:30 a.m., but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier this morning it would not be implemented unless the terror group kept to the agreed terms and released the names of the three civilian women.

Under the terms of the deal, Hamas was required to provide the names of the hostages at least 24 hours ahead of their release — initially expected to be today at around 4:30 p.m.

However, the terror group has still not confirmed which three of the 97 hostages are slated for release, claiming the delay in handing over the names is due to “technical reasons.”

IDF: Hamas not abiding by hostage-ceasefire deal, military will continue to strike Gaza
[IsraelTimes] IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari in a press conference says the military is continuing to strike in the Gaza Strip, as Hamas is not abiding by the ceasefire agreement.

“As of this morning, Hamas is not fulfilling its obligations, and contrary to the agreement has not given Israel the names of the hostages [set for release today],” he says.

“Per the directive of the prime minister, the ceasefire will not take effect as long as Hamas is not fulfilling its obligations. The IDF is continuing to strike now in Gaza, as long as Hamas is not fulfilling its obligations to the deal,” Hagari says.

Shortly before midnight Israel Time last night:
Hamas said to blame ‘technical reasons’ for delay in providing names of hostages
[IsraelTimes] With Hamas still yet to provide a list of names of the first hostages it will free after the ceasefire deal starts tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., a source in the terror group claims to the Ynet news site that the delay is due to “technical reasons.”

According to the source, Hamas operatives communicate “physically via emissaries and it takes time to agree on the names and the location of the hostages when IDF planes are still above them.”

“The list will only come out after the approval of Hamas leader Muhammad Sinwar,” the source adds.
Prediction: Technically, they have no idea who has those three, or where they are, right. Either that, or they know but their prize living hostages suddenly were discovered to be very long — or very recently — deader than doornails, and Allah is not i tervning to save their captors from the wrath of Bibi and almost-President OrangeManBad.

Trump: Hostage deal ‘better hold,’ I told Netanyahu ‘do what you have to do — this has to end’
[IsraelTimes] US President-elect Donald Trump says the ceasefire and hostage release deal “better hold,” as he’s asked by NBC News’ “Meet the Press” if he’s confident the Israeli captives held by Hamas will soon be freed.

“Well, we’re going to see very soon, and it better hold,” Trump says during the phone interview.

Trump says he told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “Just keep doing what you have to do. You have to have — this has to end. We want it to end, but to keep doing what has to be done.”

He adds that he and the Israeli premier will be meeting “fairly shortly,” without elaborating.

#3  Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir resigns in opposition to cease-fire
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir resigned from his role in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet in opposition to the cease-fire on Sunday.

"With us, a word is a word, we will not agree to a reckless deal," Ben-Gvir said on X.

He also said that far-right Otzma Yehudit political party members submitted their resignations.

Ben-Gvir oversaw the Israel’s police force. He used his influence to encourage Netanyahu to press ahead with the war in Gaza and recently boasted that he had blocked past efforts to reach a ceasefire.

Body of Oron Shaul, killed and captured by Hamas in 2014, recovered from Gaza
[IsraelTimes] In a recent clandestine operation in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip, Israeli troops recovered the body of soldier Staff Sgt. Oron Shaul, who was killed and captured by Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
in 2014, the military announces.

The operation to recover the body was carried out jointly by the IDF and the Shin Bet security agency, with several special forces units including the Navy’s Shayetet 13 commando unit and another elite force in the Military Intelligence Directorate.

The IDF does not detail when the operation happened, or in which part of Gaza the body was found.

Shaul’s body was brought back to Israel and taken to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute where it was identified. His family was then informed.

On July 20, 2014, amid the 2014 Gaza War, troops of the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion entered Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood in an M-113 armored personnel carrier. The APC got stuck in one of the neighborhood’s narrow streets, and during attempts to extract it, it came under attack by Hamas operatives launching anti-tank missiles.

Seven soldiers were killed in the incident, including Shaul, whose body was dragged away from the scene by Hamas operatives.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran unveils new underground naval base in Persian Gulf amid tension with US, Israel
[IsraelTimes] State TV says base is ‘built at depth of 500 meters,’ contains vessels with long-range missiles capable of ‘destroying US warships’; Reveal comes days before Trump takes office

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
unveiled an underground naval missile base at an undisclosed Gulf location on Saturday, state TV said, two days before the start of US President-elect Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
’s second term in the White House.

It was unveiled at a time when tension with Washington is widely expected to rise. Iranian leaders are concerned that Trump might empower Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to strike Iran’s nuclear sites, while tightening US sanctions on its oil industry.

During his first term, Trump pursued a policy of "maximum pressure" against Iran, abandoning a landmark nuclear agreement and reimposing sweeping sanctions.

Trump also oversaw the killing of a top Revolutionary Guards general, Qasem Soleimani, in a dronezap on Iraq.

State television showed Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps chief General Hossein Salami visiting the secret base during war games. He said it was one of several built underground for vessels capable of launching long-range missiles and carry out distant warfare.

"We assure the great nation of Iran that their young people are capable of coming out honorable and victorious from a battle on the seas against enemies big and small," Salami said.

State television said the base was built at a depth of 500 meters (1,650 feet) somewhere in the Gulf, showed tunnels with long rows of what it said were a new version of Taregh-class radar-evading speedboats which can launch cruise missiles, and said that some of the vessels were "capable of destroying US warships and destroyers".

[X]

Earlier this month, Iran started military exercises that are due to last two months and have already included war games in which the Revolutionary Guards defended nuclear installations in Natanz against mock attacks by missiles and drones.

Iran, which says its ballistic missiles are an important deterrent and retaliatory force against the US and Israel, has in the past unveiled several "missile cities," underground missile production facilities with tunnels large enough to hold large trucks and multiple production areas.

Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes and denies any intention to develop atomic weapons. In recent years, however, it has increased its manufacturing of enriched uranium, and it is the only non-nuclear weapons state to possess uranium enriched to 60 percent, according to nuclear watchdog the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency.

That level is well on the way to the 90 percent enrichment required for an atomic bomb.

Some Progress in Containment of Palisades, Eaton wild fires
As Los Angeles residents shift from emergency to recovery mode after the pair of devastating wildfires, crews are well on their way to full containment of the blazes.

According to the latest numbers released by Cal Fire, crews had 73% containment on the Eaton Fire as of 12:40 p.m. Saturday. The fire, which scorched much of Altadena and parts of Sierra Madre, has destroyed nearly 9,000 structures.

As for the Palisades Fire, containment was at 43% as of 11:39 a.m. Saturday, according to Cal Fire. The burned acreage remained at 23,713, as it has for several days.

----------
As of this am, containment has been advanced a bit more, now 52% for Palisades and 81% for Eaton; also there is a possibility for rain in about 7 days as a low pressure will migrate down the west coast

#4  There is a consorted effort right now to blame the ban on Trump instead of Brandon Residency Years.

Remember, the idea from this outgoing administration was to keep tiktok but have it under 'the supervision' of then current Congress.

Its like blaming Trump for a ban on menthol cigs because he once said cigs are unhealthy.

That said, I hate all these short attention fan theatre things, but that said, I also watch a lot of content which is not legacy media, so I thought the thought of bottlenecking media is a bad idea.

Eldest said that there is a parody song We Didn't Start The Fire song mocking the tiktok trends such as Tide Pods.

Also, Psaki if you remember went to tiktok to promote Ukraine War Operations.

Japan Sounds Alarm as Heart Failure Surges 4900% Among Covid-Vaxxed
[SLAY] Leading experts in Japan are sounding the alarm after uncovering evidence of a staggering surge in heart failure among citizens who received Covid mRNA "vaccines."

Japan’s top scientists discovered that the risk of heart failure surges by up to 4,900% after a person receives a Covid mRNA injection.

The explosive discovery was made by a team of Japanese researchers from the Division of Pharmacodynamics at Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy and Yokohama General Hospital.

The research team, led by Professor Keisuke Takada, found that the risk of myocarditis is 20-50 times greater after receiving the shot.

They calculated reporting odds ratios (RORs) and 95 % confidence intervals (95 % CIs) for the association between the vaccines and myocarditis and pericarditis based on data from the Japanese government’s vaccine adverse event database.

From a link posted in a comment today by NN2N1.

#2  Here's the original study. I didn't notice 4900% in the summary.

Conclusion: In the Japanese population, SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination was significantly associated with the onset of myocarditis/pericarditis. The influencing factors included age of ≤30 years and male. Furthermore, although most adverse events occurred early after vaccination, overall outcomes were good.

Consistent with other reports, (males, less than 30 years old), but a confirmation of erlier reports.

Erik Prince: Chinese Influence on Panama Canal a ‘National Security Problem'
[Breitbart] Chinese efforts on the Panama Canal are a "national security problem," Erik Prince, veteran and founder of Unplugged Technologies, said during an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday.

"The Chinese have done the soft power move and taken over management, effectively, of the Panama Canal that the United States built more than a century ago, and then it was unwisely given up by Jimmy Carter in ’78 or ’79," Prince began, describing this as a "national security problem."

"Because if you have any kind of naval conflict, you have to be able to move our fleets from the Atlantic, Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. And the way you do that is through the Panama Canal. It saves you almost a month of transit time from going around the southern tip of Chile," he continued.

Prince said it is "absolutely essential" that the United States have security overwatch of the canal for these very reasons.

New Bill Promises Reinstatement, Back Pay for Service Members Who Refused COVID Jab
[RedState] One of the better aspects of seeing the Biden administration in the national rear-view mirror is the return to some sanity for our service men and women. One aspect of this lies in a bill now in consideration, sponsored by, among others, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) that promises not only reinstatement but also back pay for American servicemen and women who were discharged for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine.

A pair of Republicans are introducing legislation that would offer service members who were fired over the military’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate a chance to get their jobs back and receive back pay.

The AMERICANS Act, put forth by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and freshman Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-N.C., bans the Pentagon from instituting any additional COVID-19 vaccine mandates without congressional approval.

It would offer reinstatement to any service member discharged solely for their refusal of the COVID vaccine and credit them for the time of their involuntary separation for retirement pay.

It would also restore the rank of anyone who was demoted over the vaccine mandate, offering them back pay and benefits for any compensation they lost as a result of their demotion.

For those who do not want to rejoin service, it would restore their discharge to "honorable" to restore their GI Bill and health care benefits.

The bill would return rank and benefits to a considerable number of service members who were unfairly discharged over this matter.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Illegal Immigrants Have Begun Deporting Themselves
[Modernity] Illegals in the US have started self-deporting ahead of Trump taking office according to an immigration attorney.

Rolando Vasquez told NewsNation that there has been a surge in immigrant voluntarily leaving with Trump’s promised mass deportations on the horizon and with Mexico agreeing to take non-Mexican deportees.

Another driving factor is that Cuba and Venezuela generally do not accept deportation flights from the United States but may accept them from Mexico.

"This is causing many migrants to leave on their own, knowing that they’re either going to be deported to their home country or be deported to Mexico," Vasquez said, adding "The overwhelming majority of them do not want to be in Mexico."

NewsNation reporter Jorge Ventura also warned sources have told him that newly deported migrants are targets for extortion or even abduction by Mexican cartels and human smugglers.

#2  PJ - Federal Appeals Court Hands Trump Huge Gift on Eve of Inauguration

A federal appeals court on Friday declared the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration policy unlawful, casting a cloud of uncertainty over more than half a million unauthorized immigrants brought to the U.S. as children ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.

A panel of judges before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit upheld a lower court ruling that found that a Biden administration rule to codify DACA violated U.S. immigration law. The 2012 Obama administration memo that originally created the policy has also been found to be unlawful by federal courts.

Trump's border czar makes abrupt reversal after news of mass deportations in woke Dem cities
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] President-elect Donald Trump's handpicked 'border czar' Tom Homan has said the administration is reconsidering immigration raids on Chicago and New York after details were leaked in news reports.

Homan, former acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, told the Washington Post that the new administration 'hasn't made a decision yet.'

'We're looking at this leak and will make a decision based on this leak,' Homan said. 'It's unfortunate because anyone leaking law enforcement operations puts officers at great risk.'

ICE had its sights on the Democratic-run city of Chicago and NYC as its first targets for mass deportations, with a raid expected on Tuesday morning less than 24 hours after Trump's second inauguration.

It was reported that the operation would be carried out for an entire week and spend between 100-200 officers to handle the job.

News of the raids leaked after Chicago City Council rejected an effort to allow police to cooperate with immigration enforcement.

'We intend to stand by and protect Chicago's immigrant communities against threats from ICE,' Mayor Brandon Johnson said after the vote.

Homan then appeared on Fox News where he was asked by host Jesse Watters if he was 'blowing your cover' by asking about the 'big raid' in Chicago.

'Or do you want people to know? Maybe they can self-deport,' Watters said.

'There's going to be a big raid all across the country. Chicago is just one of many places,' Homan said. 'ICE is finally going to do their job. We're going to take the handcuffs off of ICE and let them go arrest criminal aliens. That's what's going to happen.'

Homan told the Post he didn't know why Chicago 'became a focus of attention' and said the incoming administration's enforcement goals are much broader than one city.

'ICE will start arresting public safety threats and national security threats on day one. We'll be arresting people across the country, uninhibited by any prior administration guidelines. Why Chicago was specifically mentioned, I don't know,' he said.

'This is a nationwide thing. We're not sweeping neighborhoods. We have a targeted enforcement plan.'

According to a person with knowledge of the plans, multi-day raids are expected from coast-to-coast.

'We're going to be doing operations all across the country,' the person told Reuters on Friday. 'You're going to see arrests in New York. You're going to see arrests in Miami.'

Homan previously told a crowd at the Northwest Side GOP holiday party that 'Chicago is in trouble because your mayor sucks and your governor sucks.'

He went on to call them both 'terrible,' while also urging them to follow in the footsteps of New York City Mayor Eric Adams and 'come to the table' for discussions, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Homan also warned Johnson, who had vowed to fight the Trump administration's deportation plan, not to 'impede' his efforts.

'If he doesn't want to help, get the hell out of the way. If he knowingly harbors or conceals an illegal alien - I will prosecute him,' he said.

Homan said he would work on verifying the status of asylum seekers and arrest anyone who is found to be harboring criminal migrants.

He reiterated that there is no plan in place to separate families, though he suggested 'it may happen.'

'My goal is to enforce the law, but if you put yourself in that position, it may happen,' he said. 'But there's no plan in this administration right now to separate families.'

'However, we're going to enforce the law. So, if you put yourself in that position, it's on you. You can either take a child home with you or they just stay there, but you don't get a pass,' he said declaring that parents of Dreamers - the children of migrants born in the US - have two options.

Homan and other Trump aides have said they hope immigrants living in the United States illegally leave on their own, or 'self-deport', from fears of facing arrest.

Homan had previously criticized against advertising immigration raids ahead of time under Trump's 2018 administration. He called the Oakland, California mayor 'reckless' and 'irresponsible' for alerting city residents to a planned raid.

He noted then that after the report leaked, ICE made 150 arrests but were missing 864 fugitives.

Acting director for ICE during the Obama administration, John Sandweg, said he was surprised to see discussion of the raids ahead of time.

'Historically this is something we kept very close wraps on for officer safety reasons,' he said, adding that fugitives 'start hiding. It completely undermines the effectiveness of the operation by telegraphing that you're coming.'

He added that it is also unusual for ICE to begin planning raids before the new leadership is sworn in, official policies remain under Biden's control who was focused on more serious offenders than those who are solely undocumented.

'It's incredibly unusual. This isn't like policymaking or briefings, the normal stuff you see in transition,' Sandweg said. 'This is an actual operational planning for an operation to take place on the first day of an administration. That's weird.'

Advocates in Chicago said rumors of raids began circulating on social media on Wednesday, the Post reported. One WhatsApp group warned that a 'trusted source' had confirmed ICE would be patrolling the city from 5am to 9am on Inauguration Day and the next day would 'detain people heading to work or home.'

The Vice President of Immigration Justice for the Resurrection Project, Eréndira Rendón, said: 'We anticipated Chicago would be a target, but the message is the same: You should be as prepared as possible.'

Yemeni missile strikes hit vital Israeli targets in Umm al-Rashrash; UPDATE: Or not, yet again
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i Armed Forces have announced two precise military operations targeting critical locations in the Umm al-Rashrash area of southern occupied Paleostine.
That is to say, in Eilat in southern Israel, as they’ve been for about three quarters of a century.
The Yemeni Armed Forces Issued the following statement:

''In support of the oppressed Paleostinian people and their fighters, and in response to the recent massacres committed against our brothers in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, and as part of the fifth phase of support in the battle of the Promised Conquest and Holy Jihad:

The Missile Force of the Yemeni Armed Forces, with the grace of Allah, conducted two military operations targeting two strategic sites belonging to the ''Israeli'' enemy in the Umm al-Rashrash region of southern occupied Paleostine.

The first operation was carried out using a ballistic missile of the Thulfiqar type.

The second operation utilized a cruise missile.

Both operations successfully hit their targets, by Allah's grace.

The Yemeni Armed Forces reaffirm their commitment to stand alongside the Paleostinian resistance in Gaza, coordinating military actions to respond appropriately to any violations or escalations committed by the ''Israeli'' enemy during the ceasefire implementation period.''

The only information I can find on this in the Times of Israel, Jerusalem Post, Ynet, and Israel National News as of 12:30 a.m. ET is this single liveblog entry of the Houthi claims made above. No reports of missile sirens going off, and nothing at all about anywhere in Israel being hit.
Update: Found it:
Ballistic missile from Yemen intercepted after Eilat sirens

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says one ballistic missile launched at Israel from Yemen was successfully intercepted by air defenses.

Sirens had sounded in the southernmost city of Eilat and nearby towns.

There are no immediate reports of injuries or major damage.

It marks the second Houthi attack today after a missile fired earlier at central Israel was shot down.

and the Israel Defense Forces said Saturday. Hours later, the first Israeli hostages and Paleostinian prisoners will be released under the agreement.

"As coordinated by the parties to the agreement and the mediators, the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 19, local time in Gaza," Qatar’s Foreign Ministry front man Majed al-Ansari said on X. "We advise the inhabitants to take precaution, exercise the utmost caution, and wait for directions from official sources."

The IDF in a statement also confirmed the ceasefire’s start time.

Israeli officials said Saturday that they were expecting to receive the names of the first three hostages to be released on Sunday by the evening, adding that Hamas will give the names to the Qataris, who will then inform Mosssd
......
Chief David Barnea, who is then expected to inform the families.

The first three hostages to be released on Sunday will be civilian women on the list of 33 hostages to be freed in the 42-day first phase of the Israel-Hamas deal, according to Israeli officials.

The Paleostinian prisoners to be freed in exchange for the three hostages will not be released before 4 p.m. on Sunday — roughly when the first hostages are expected back in Israel, some 7.5 hours after the ceasefire comes into effect.

In exchange for all 33 hostages, Israel will, by the end of phase one, hand over up to 1,904 Paleostinian prisoners and detainees, including several serving multiple life sentences for deadly terror attacks and murders.

As part of the first phase of the deal, a major surge of humanitarian aid will also flow into Gaza, with Egypt saying that 50 fuel trucks are set to enter the Strip when the ceasefire starts on Sunday morning.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, whose country mediated the deal with Qatar and the United States, said the agreement calls for "the entry of 600 trucks per day to the Strip, including 50 trucks of fuel."

Hundreds of trucks have lined up on the Egyptian side of the Rafah Border Crossing — previously a vital entry point for aid that has been closed by Egypt since last May, when Israeli forces seized the Paleostinian side.

At a joint news conference on Saturday with his Nigerian counterpart, Abdelatty said: "We hope that 300 trucks will go to the north of the Gaza Strip," where thousands are trapped in what aid agencies say are desperate conditions.

According to a report by the BBC, citing a senior Paleostinian official, as part of the security arrangements between Israel and Hamas in the upcoming ceasefire, Israel will allow Hamas coppers who deal with the civilian population to operate in their blue uniforms in certain Gaza areas.

The report said Hamas coppers will oversee the movement of displaced people within Gaza but will avoid areas where IDF troops remain located in the Strip. They will carry weapons when they must, and Egyptian and Qatari officials will help mediate in the event of any conflicts between the sides.

The IDF said on Saturday that it had begun preparations for the ceasefire, and was readying to receive hostages and "implement the operational procedures" that the agreement dictates, likely referring to the withdrawal of IDF troops from populated areas within Gaza to certain agreed-upon zones.

"The IDF has been preparing to receive the hostages upon their release from Hamas captivity and is acting to provide suitable physical and psychological support, with careful attention to every detail," the statement continued.

"Alongside the agreement and our commitment to bringing home all the hostages, the IDF will continue to operate in order to ensure the security of all Israeli citizens, particularly those in communities near the Gaza Strip," it added.

As part of the preparations, the IDF established three complexes near the border with Gaza to receive the released hostages, where they will meet with IDF representatives, including doctors, psychologists and mental health officers.

The complexes have been erected at Re’im Base, the Kerem Shalom Crossing and the Erez Crossing. Hostages released from Gaza will reach one of the three sites depending on their release route.

The military’s 99th Division will withdraw from the Netzarim Corridor of central Gaza, the 162nd Division will be tasked with defending the northern Gaza area, and the Gaza Division will be responsible for the southern portion of the Strip. The Gaza Division will also withdraw gradually from parts of the Philadelphi Corridor area under the deal.

Under the first stage of the agreement, the IDF said Paleostinian civilians will not be allowed to return to areas where the military has a presence, as well as areas close to the border.

"The IDF is prepared with clear lines of defense and is ready to remove threats. Any threat to our forces will receive an aggressive response," the military said.

The ceasefire agreement, which was approved by Israel’s government on Friday night, will bring a halt to the 15-month-long war between Israel and the Paleostinian terror group Hamas, which began when Hamas-led snuffies invaded southern Israel, killing over 1,200 people and kidnapping 251 hostages during their October 7, 2023, onslaught.

Federal Reserve Backs Out of Global Climate Group
[Epoch Times] The U.S. Federal Reserve is exiting a global climate change coalition days before the new Trump administration is set to take power on Jan. 20.

The Federal Reserve had joined the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) in December 2020. NGFS, composed of global central banks and supervisors, aims to integrate climate and environmental risk management into the financial sector and mobilize "finance to support the transition toward a sustainable economy," according to the group’s website. On Friday, the Federal Reserve announced its withdrawal from the 143-member coalition.

"The work of the NGFS has increasingly broadened in scope, covering a wider range of issues that are outside of the Board’s statutory mandate," the agency said. Five Federal Reserve officials, including chair Jerome Powell, voted for the withdrawal, while two officials did not vote.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Current information on the situation on the front line on January 18 (updated)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFront] 23:57 Official summary of the Office for Documentation of War Crimes of Ukraine from 00:00 01/18/2025 to 00:00 01/19/2025.

18 facts of armed attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

There were reports of three civilians being injured.

DAMAGED:
Three residential buildings,
Three civil infrastructure facilities.

A total of 18 armed attacks in the Gorlovka direction.

A total of 56 units of various ammunition were fired.

19:26 On frames: destruction of a T-64 tank of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by FPV drones in the area of the village of Kamenka.

The fighters were from the Western Group of the Russian Armed Forces.

18:42 Drone drivers stop another rotation of the enemy

An FPV drone operator from the North group of forces hit an enemy armored fighting vehicle in the Khar'kov region.

18:34 RF Armed Forces took under full control of Petropavlovka in the Kurakhovo area

Units of the 114th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the "South" Forces Group continue to conduct an active offensive. The result of their competent work was the capture of Petropavlovka and several field nodes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at a distance of just over one km from Andreyevka.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces Command is trying with all its might to maintain control over the Andreevka-Konstantinopol-Ulakly agglomeration in order not to lose the ability to deliver ammunition to its positions in the Kurakhovsky fire pocket and maintain a presence in the western part of the DPR.

In fact, after the loss of Andreevka, and then Alekseevka, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will no longer have any infrastructure to consolidate their positions in this direction, up to Novopavlovka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. For this purpose, the Ukrainian Armed Forces introduced reserves to the forest plantations northeast of Tolbukhin Street near Andreevka and occupied the nearest strongholds, mirroring our breakthrough near Petropavlovka.

Russian troops have an advantage here. Unlike the VSAS, the RF Armed Forces units are moving along the dominant heights on the northern outskirts of Andreyevka.

17:49 The enemy's "Bucephalus" could not withstand the encounter with the "Lancet"

Servicemen of the North group of forces destroyed an enemy BTR-4 Bucephalus armored personnel carrier in Sumy Oblast using a loitering munition – video.

16:07 Danish pilot, F-16 fighter operating instructor Jepp Hansen was killed during a missile strike on the Ukrainian Armed Forces training center in Krivoy Rog, TASS reported.reported in the security forces. This is confirmed by friends and relatives on social networks.

15:31 Russian military are moving to Velikaya Novosyolka from several directions

From the north, in the area of Novy Komar, the Russian Armed Forces expanded the territory of control, which allowed them to begin moving down - in the direction of the fighters of the "Vostok" group of forces (they are entering from the side of Vrem'evka). Russian units are also working from the southwest.

The enemy, realizing that operational encirclement awaits him, begins to withdraw equipment along the Mokrye Yaly River. Probably, the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have much time left before the "bottleneck" is completely closed. The elite units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were unable to correct the situation in this direction.

We are expecting the storming of Velikaya Novosyolka to begin in the near future.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Gunman shoots dead 2 judges in Iran’s capital tied to 1988 mass executions
If that’s the connection, that’s a revenge measured in degrees Kelvin. Brrrrrr…
[IsraelTimes] Assailant said to kill himself after attack at high-security Palace of Justice in Tehran; bodyguard also wounded

A man fatally shot two prominent hard-line judges in Iran’s capital Saturday, officials said, both of whom allegedly took part in the mass execution of dissidents in 1988.

No group immediately grabbed credit for the shootings of the judges, holy mans Mohammad Mogheiseh and Ali Razini. However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
Razini’s involvement in the 1988 executions had likely made him a target in the past, including an liquidation attempt in 1999.

Their killings, a rare attack targeting the judiciary, also come as Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
faces economic turmoil, the mauling of its Mideast allies by Israel and the return of Donald Trump
...The cad! Twice caught beating wimmin!...
to the White House on Monday.

Both holy mans served on Iran’s Supreme Court, the state-run IRNA news agency reported. A bodyguard for one of the judges also was maimed in the attack at the Palace of Justice in Tehran, which also serves as the headquarters of the country’s judiciary and typically has tight security.

The attacker, who was armed with a handgun, killed himself, IRNA said.

"According to initial investigations, the person in question did not have a case in the Supreme Court nor was he a client of the branches of the court," the judiciary’s Mizan news agency said. "Currently, investigations have been launched to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this terrorist act."

Asghar Jahangir, a front man for Iran’s judiciary, separately told Iranian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
that the shooter had been an "infiltrator," suggesting he had worked at the courthouse where the killings took place.

Unlike the US Supreme Court, the Iranian Supreme Court has many branches spread across the country. It is the highest court in Iran and can hear appeals on decisions made by lower courts.

Razini had been targeted previously. In January 1999, attackers on cycle of violences hurled an explosive at his vehicle, wounding him as he left work as the head of the judiciary in Tehran.

Mogheiseh had been under sanctions from the US Treasury since 2019. At the time, the Treasury described him as having "overseen countless unfair trials, during which charges went unsubstantiated and evidence was disregarded."

"He is notorious for sentencing scores of journalists and internet users to lengthy prison terms," the Treasury said. Mogheiseh had pressed charges against members of Iran’s Baha’i minority "after they reportedly held prayer and worship ceremonies with other members," the Treasury said.

Both men had been named by activists and exiles as taking part in the 1988 executions, which came at the end of Iran’s long war with Iraq. After Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini accepted a UN-brokered ceasefire, members of the exiled Iranian opposition group Mujahedeen-e-Khalq, or MEK, heavily armed by Saddam Hussein, stormed across the Iranian border in a surprise attack.

Iran ultimately blunted their assault, but the attack set the stage for the sham retrials of political prisoners, murderous Moslems and others that would become known as "death commissions."

International rights groups estimate that as many as 5,000 people were executed, while the MEK puts the number at 30,000. Iran has never fully acknowledged the executions, apparently carried out on Khomeini’s orders, though some argue that other brass hats were effectively in charge in the months before his 1989 death.

The MEK did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

While Mogheiseh never addressed the accusation he took part in the 1988 "death commissions," Razini gave a 2017 interview published by Iran’s Shargh newspaper in which he defended the panels as "fair and completely in accordance with the law."

"Our friends and I who are among the 20 judges in the country, we did our best to ensure the security of that time and the years after and from then, we guaranteed that the hypocrites (the MEK) could never become powerful in this country," he reportedly said.

Israeli army issues instructions to Gaza ahead of ceasefire
[GEO.TV] The Israeli military's Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee has issued a statement addressed to the people of Gaza that contains instructions for Sunday, when the ceasefire will go into effect, according to Al Jazeera.

Here are the main points:

  • Moving from the south to the north of the Gaza Strip or towards the Netzarim Corridor remains dangerous in light of the military activities in the area. Once movement is permitted, instructions will be given.
  • The Israeli army will remain deployed in specific areas of the Gaza Strip. You must not approach its officers until further notice and doing so could expose you to danger.
  • It is dangerous to approach the Rafah crossing, the Philadelphi Corridor and all areas in southern Gaza where Israeli forces are deployed.
  • In the coastal area along the Strip, fishing, swimming and diving is dangerous and we warn against entering the sea in the coming days.
  • It is forbidden to approach Israeli territory and the buffer zone. Approaching the buffer zone is very dangerous.

Turns Out All CA Homeowners are going to backstop the LA Fires with increased premiums-Insurers' Rule Change Puts California Homeowners on the Hook for L.A. Fire
[Archive.is] The spiraling cost to rebuild could overwhelm the California Fair Plan, the decades-old, government-created insurance safety net

A little-noticed rule change last year by California’s insurance regulator will likely shift a large chunk of the cost of the Los Angeles wildfires to homeowners across the state.

Pushed by insurers, the change puts California homeowners on the hook to pay directly toward the cost of rebuilding from very large disasters through even fatter insurance bills—whether they were exposed to the L.A. fire or not.

“That would be a huge wake up call for Californians because they have no idea that the rules have changed,” said Dave Jones, a former California insurance commissioner.

The new policy affects the backstop for California’s Fair Plan, the state’s insurer of last resort, which sells fire-damage policies to homeowners who can’t get coverage elsewhere.

The worry is that the Fair Plan lacks the resources to pay for the quickly escalating cost of the fires, which have destroyed tens of thousands of structures.

Government Corruption
LA Mayor Karen Bass'' office hit with accusations of ''legalized corruption''
[NYPOST] Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass got into office promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and promising to tackle homelessness and pollution — but she never promised to drain the swamp.

Now she stands accused of adding to it, through ''legalized corruption'' and a number of eye opening scandals which have come to light after renewed scrutiny in the last two weeks following the revelation Bass and her cronies defunded the Los Angeles Fire Department by $17 million, contributing to them being underprepared to tackle the wildfires currently destroying the city.

These include:

  • The deputy mayor raided by the FBI over an alleged bomb threat against City Hall.
  • Endorsing a former councilor investigated over hush money payments for congress.
  • Awarding fat cat salaries of $750k to a pal, double the predecessor's salary.
  • Council members accused of embezzlement, perjury, racketeering, tax evasion and bribes.

DWP is controlled by the mayor and city council. Last year, Bass hired Janisse Quinones, a fellow progressive who opaquely stressed her mission would be “righting the wrongs that we’ve done in the past from an infrastructure perspective,” as CEO of the utility.

Bass pays her a $750,000 salary — almost double what her predecessor was making.

Quinones has been blamed by some members of the city’s fire department for failing to fix broken hydrants, many of which ran dry as the Palisades fire consumed homes in the Malibu and Pacific Palisades neighborhoods on Jan. 8.

Consumer Watchdog and the Los Angeles Times launched a lawsuit in federal court last year to unseal dozens of warrants in an extortion scheme involving the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office and the DWP.

The unsealed documents, some 1,400 pages, revealed the FBI believed Mike Feuer, the former City Attorney – the top lawyer to the city — had lied to investigators when he denied knowledge of a hush money payment to hide a litigation scandal in his office.

He called the claims “absurd” and was never prosecuted.

Feuer had run against Bass for mayor in 2022 but dropped out of the race and endorsed her. In turn, Bass endorsed Feuer, calling him “a longtime colleague and friend” who would “deliver for Los Angeles,” in a failed race for US Congress in 2023.

“We have a pay-to-play culture in Los Angeles,” said Susan Shelley, a member of the editorial board of the Southern California New Group, a columnist and vice president of communications for the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, a non-profit. “It’s legalized corruption.”

In Los Angeles, politicians can request “behested payments” or donations from individuals and companies who have business before the city. “This would be called ‘extortion’ elsewhere,” said Shelley, adding the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles has received some $1.8 million in behested payments from companies such as AT&T and Coca Cola, among others.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanon’s president: IDF must withdraw by Jan. 26, end ‘continued violations’ of truce
As long as Hezbollah and the Lebanese army do as committed to in the ceasefire agreement, Israel will withdraw. If they do not, Israel will not. See how simple that is?
[IsraelTimes] UN chief meets newly-elected Joseph Aoun in Beirut, hails ‘new chapter of peace’; Hezbollah chief urges government to confront Israel over ‘more than hundreds’ of violations

Leb
...The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else?...
’s new president Joseph Aoun said Saturday that Israel must "withdraw from occupied territories" in his country’s south by the January 26 deadline set in the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire agreement.

In a speech before visiting United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
Chief António Guterres
...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
, Aoun also decried "Israel’s continued violations" of the agreement.

"Blowing up homes and destroying border villages, completely contradicts what was stated in the ceasefire agreement," he said, according to the Lebanese president’s office.

His remarks followed a speech by Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
who urged Beirut to confront Israel over "more than hundreds" of violations.

Despite the ceasefire, which was signed November 27 after 14 months of war, Israel has continued striking south Lebanon, saying the attacks targeted Hezbollah fighters and weaponry violating the accord, including by continuing to operate south of the Litani River, some 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the border with Israel.

The agreement gives Israel the right to operate against imminent threats. Israel has also accused the Lebanese military and UN peacekeeping force UNIFIL of failing to enforce the agreement in the face of Hezbollah violations.

The ceasefire gave Israel 60 days, until January 26, to withdraw from south Lebanon. After that, the Lebanese Armed Forces and UNIFIL will be the only armed forces permitted to maintain a presence between Israel and the Litani.

However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
there have been some reports in Israel that this deadline could be delayed, ostensibly due to the Lebanese military’s failure to deploy throughout the region quickly enough.

Aoun, elected January 9, has pledged to give the Lebanese state a monopoly on the right to bear arms — a veiled threat against Iran-backed Hezbollah, the only Lebanese militia that did not surrender its arms to the state after the 1975-1990 civil war.

A former head of the army, Aoun clinched the presidency with the backing of Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
, the United States and La Belle France, which figures heavily in the politics of its former protectorate Lebanon.

HEZBOLLAH CHIEF SEEKS CONFRONTATION
On Saturday, Qassem called "on the Lebanese state to be firm in confronting violations, now numbering more than hundreds. This cannot continue."

"We have been patient with the violations to give a chance to the Lebanese state, responsible for this agreement, along with the international sponsors, but I call on you not to test our patience," he said in a televised speech.

Qassem’s speech came as Guterres met top Lebanese officials, including Aoun and his designated prime minister, outgoing International Court of Justice chief Nawaf Salam.

Analysts say Hezbollah’s weakening in the war with Israel allowed Lebanon’s deeply divided political class to elect Aoun and to back him in naming Salam as premier.

But Qassem insisted that the backing of Hezbollah, and its ally Amal, "is what led to the election of the president by consensus," after around two years of deadlock.

"No one can exploit the results of the aggression in domestic politics," he warned. "No one can exclude us from effective and influential political participation in the country."

Qassem also praised the ceasefire deal in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, saying the Paleostinians’ sacrifices had stopped Israel’s attempts to erase "the Paleostinian cause."

Meeting with Aoun later Saturday, Guterres said that the election of a president and premier made it possible to consolidate the Lebanese institutions and to deploy the Lebanese army across the country, including areas from which Israel is to withdraw.

Guterres expressed hope that Lebanon could open "a new chapter of peace," and pledged the international community’s support "for what we believe will be a speedy recovery of this country, making it again the center of the Middle East."

"As soon as the conflict ends, reconstruction begins," he said.

On Friday, Guterres had called for Israel to end its military operations and presence in Lebanon’s south. He also said UNIFIL had found more than 100 weapons caches belonging "to Hezbollah or other gangs" since the ceasefire deal was concluded.

French President Emmanuel Macron, who met with Guterres in Lebanon on Friday, also said there must be an "accelerated" implementation of the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire.

The US- and La Belle France-brokered ceasefire in late November came two months after Israel massively escalated operations in Lebanon in a bid to stem Hezbollah’s persistent rocket fire, which forced the displacement of some 60,000 residents of northern Israel.

Israel’s offensive in Lebanon all but decimated Hezbollah’s top brass, drastically weakening the terror group.

Unprovoked, Hezbollah began its near-daily attacks on October 8, 2023 — a day after fellow Iran-backed group Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
stormed southern Israel to kill some 1,200 people and take 251 hostages, sparking the war in Gaza.

While speaking to his TikTok followers, he threatened that he will practically "drag" members of the Sharif family on London streets and that he will "avenge" PTI founder Imran Khan if he is harmed in Pakistan.

Kayani has also criticised Pakistan's military leadership.

Scotland Yard sources confirmed the arrest. It's understood that Kayani's arrest warrants were issued around a week ago.

He was arrested late on Friday night at the gates of the Avenfield apartments, soon after Khan's conviction in 190 million case. At that time, Kayani was live on TikTok and interacting with his followers.

NATO warships begin patrolling the Baltic Sea
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] NATO warships have begun patrolling the Baltic Sea as part of the Baltic Sentinel mission, the stated goal of which is to “increase NATO’s awareness” of the situation in the Baltic, ERR reported on Saturday, January 18.

Representatives of the navies of Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia are taking part in the mission, the authors noted.

"NATO warships have begun patrolling the Baltic Sea as part of Operation Baltic Sentinel. Some of the ships have anchored in Tallinn's Mine Harbor," the statement said.

The mission also includes a helicopter and a sonar vessel, the authors noted. If necessary, the group "may use force," the report also said.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on January 13 it became known that an underwater cable in the Baltic Sea connecting Sweden, Lithuania, Germany and Finland had been damaged. Swedish authorities linked the emergency to the actions of a Chinese vessel anchored in the area. A version was put forward that the ship's captain had been recruited by Russian special services.

Earlier, three more similar incidents occurred in the Baltic. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that he would urgently consider the issue of deploying a military patrol mission in the Baltic Sea to protect infrastructure facilities. Two NATO ships entered the Gulf of Finland on January 15. It was assumed that a total of 10 ships would be sent.

NATO countries have used the incident involving damage to submarine cables in the Baltic Sea as a pretext to increase their military presence in the strategic region and to combat Russian oil exports, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov noted that accusations of Russia's involvement in damaging cables in the Baltic Sea are groundless and absurd. He emphasized that such statements are ridiculous against the backdrop of the lack of reaction to Ukraine's subversive activities in this water area.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Nazi flag-bearing nutter gets 8 years in jail for crashing truck near White House
[IsraelTimes] Sai Varshith Kandula praised Hitler, unfurled Swastika after ramming into barrier in May 2023, injuring no one; defense says he’s schizophrenic, amenable to treatment

A Missouri man who crashed a rental truck into barriers protecting the White House was sentenced Thursday to eight years in prison for an attack that prosecutors said was inspired by his fascination with Nazi ideology, court records show.

Sai Varshith Kandula, then 19, nearly struck two people standing next to a park bench when he steered a U-Haul box truck onto a sidewalk and toward metal bollards that prevent vehicles from entering Lafayette Square, which is located north of the White House. He retrieved a Nazi flag from a backpack after the May 22, 2023, crash, which didn’t injure anybody.

Kandula wanted to "attack and destroy" the United States government, prosecutors said.

"He wanted to eliminate the democratic process in America and replace the government with a Nazi-style dictatorship," they wrote.

US District Judge Dabney Friedrich also sentenced Kandula to three years of supervised release after his prison term and ordered him to pay nearly $57,000 in restitution, according to court records.

Defense attorney Scott Rosenblum said Kandula was suffering from schizophrenia and was overwhelmed by delusional thoughts, including his belief that "a reptilian race had installed a puppet regime to operate the US."

"He’s amenable to treatment, understands its necessity, and recognizes an illness produced the acts that led to his current circumstances," Rosenblum wrote.
If he’s nuts, the reason he claims for what he did has no validity — he would have found another excuse if that one hadn’t occurred to him.
Prosecutors recommended an eight-year prison sentence for Kandula, who pleaded guilty in May to a property damage charge. He has remained in jug since his arrest.

Kandula planned the attack for weeks before he took a flight from St. Louis to Washington, DC, only hours before the crash, prosecutors said. He rented the truck in Herndon, Virginia approximately three hours before he crashed it into the barriers.

After Kandula backed up and slammed into the bollards a second time, the truck began smoking from its engine compartment and leaking fluids.

Authorities didn’t find any weapons, ammunition or explosives in his possession. But prosecutors said the attempted liquidation of US President-elect Donald Trump
...The cad! Twice caught beating wimmin!...
at a July 13 rally in Pennsylvania shows that "individuals who carry such destructive intent are capable of inflicting serious damage to the American political system."

After Kandula’s arrest, two psychologists diagnosed him with schizophrenia, according to Rosenblum.
psychologists hired by the defense, right?
"Both also believe his illness led directly to his offense," the lawyer wrote.

Houthis claim ballistic missile strike on Israeli Defense Ministry building
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Yemeni Houthis launched a ballistic missile attack on the Israeli Defense Ministry building in Tel Aviv, Ansar Allah military spokesman Yahya Saria said on Saturday, January 18.

The missile reached its target with high accuracy, and Israeli air defense systems were unable to shoot it down, Saria wrote on his Telegram channel.
Sure they did — just like all the other times.
“The Yemeni armed forces’ missile forces (…) carried out a military operation (…) on the so-called Israeli enemy’s Ministry of Defense in the occupied area of Jaffa (Tel Aviv. – Ed.),” the statement said.

Also on January 18, Saria said that the Houthis are coordinating their actions with Palestinian movements and are ready to “take appropriate military measures” if Israel violates the ceasefire agreements in the Gaza Strip.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on January 15, during negotiations between Israel and Hamas with the participation of mediators, an agreement was reached on a temporary truce in the Gaza Strip. It will be in effect for 42 days, starting on January 19.

According to media reports, the agreement will be implemented in three stages. First, the Israeli army will begin withdrawing troops from Gaza, and Hamas will release 33 hostages. In the second stage, the remaining Israeli prisoners should be released, and Israel will completely withdraw its troops from Gaza and release more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners. In the third stage, the bodies of the dead should be exchanged, and then reconstruction work in Gaza is supposed to begin under the supervision of Egypt, Qatar and the UN.

Russia hopes that the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Israeli authorities will lead to stabilization of the situation in the Gaza Strip, President Vladimir Putin said on January 17.

Man seriously hurt in Tel Aviv stabbing; Palestinian terrorist shot dead
[IsraelTimes] The terrorist, a West Bank resident in Israel illegally, assaults people at eatery on Levontin Street before being neutralized.

A Paleostinian stabbed a man in central Tel Aviv Saturday afternoon, seriously injuring him, before being shot and killed by an armed civilian.

Police said the stabbing on Levontin Street was a terror attack. The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to Ichilov Hospital at death's door.

The terrorist was identified as Salah Yahye, 19, from the West Bank city of Tulkarem.

He was in Israel illegally, according to defense sources. Medics say he was rubbed out at the scene.

The suspected attack was initially described as "a shooting incident," apparently due to the shots fired by the civilian at the terrorist.

Surveillance camera video showed the terrorist attacking a group of people standing on the sidewalk outside an eatery in the coastal city. The attacker can be seen in the footage fleeing the scene, after which he was rubbed out.

The video presented below has been blurred for privacy purposes.

A statement from the police said they were still looking into the circumstances of the incident and that a large number of officers were on the scene.

Fifth Column
NY’s anti-Zionist protesters celebrate ceasefire as victory, hail the ‘resistance’
[IsraelTimes] No indication of a change in direction among anti-Israel activists after Gaza deal announced — only vows to continue calling to eradicate the Jewish state

On October 8, 2023, while the blood was still wet in southern Israel and long before Israel launched its offensive in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, hundreds of anti-Israel activists gathered in New York City’s Times Square to celebrate the Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
invasion and rail against the Jewish state.

On New Year’s Day 2025, before a Gaza ceasefire agreement was announced, the same groups gathered in the same location beneath the plaza’s enormous, illuminated American flag. And on Thursday, after the hostage deal was announced, they were there again.

Regardless of the shifting landscape in the Middle East and spiraling toll in Gaza, the rallying cry at all three events was the same: "Long live the intifada." The protesters vow to continue on the same path.

The standard-bearers for New York’s anti-Israel activist network nominally backed a ceasefire in scattered statements they made throughout the conflict. The overriding goal, though, was always the eradication of Israel and remains so now. "Smash the settler Zionist state," one of their chants says.

Within Our Lifetime, the most prominent anti-Israel protest group in the city, hailed the Hamas attack the day it happened.

"We must defend the Paleostinian right to resist zionist settler violence and support Paleostinian resistance in all its forms. By any means necessary. With no exceptions and no fine print," the group has said.

Columbia University’s anti-Israel student coalition, which instigated a protest encampment movement that spread across the US and abroad, marks October 7, 2023, as part of the "heroic struggle for Paleostinian liberation."

Both groups also celebrated the ceasefire announcement, not as a cessation of violence, but as a step forward in their struggle. Within Our Lifetime put out a statement that said, "Gaza has won, Paleostine has won, resistance has won." Columbia University Apartheid Divest, led by the campus chapters of Students for Justice in Paleostine and Jewish Voice for Peace, said, "We must fight and escalate."

The activist network includes an array of groups, including large outfits dedicated to the conflict, hard-left socialists, student organizations and niche groups for constituencies like teachers and medical professionals. Some were more mournful in their ceasefire statements and did not include calls for further resistance, but the lead groups, such as Within Our Lifetime, National Students for Justice in Paleostine and the Paleostinian Youth Movement, all celebrated the ceasefire as a victory. (The groups are linked by more than ideology — all three route their funding through the same nonprofit.)

There aren’t any non-Jewish pro-Paleostinian protest groups in New York calling for peace and two states, and none condemn Hamas or October 7. Paleostinian advocates who don’t toe the line are shouted down.

Explicit support for Hamas and violence is not widespread at the protests. Both Within Our Lifetime and the Columbia students have made statements condoning violence in the past, though. The leader of Within Our Lifetime, Nerdeen Kiswani, posted open support for the terror group on Instagram several months into the conflict. The Columbia protesters said in October that "violence is the only path" while walking back an apology for a student leader’s claim that "Zionists don’t deserve to live."

When demonstrators do openly support terrorism at rallies, it is accepted. At the New Year’s protest, a woman shouted "Hamas" repeatedly at pro-Israel counter-protesters. At Wednesday’s rally, two men wore Hamas headbands. No one appeared to have any issue with it in either case. At another protest this month at a Manhattan hospital, a demonstrator flaunting a Hamas headband mocked the hostages. He then joined the protest’s leadership for a prayer session in Union Square. The inverted red triangle, a Hamas symbol, is ubiquitous. The protesters label their rallies "floods," echoing the Hamas term for the attack that started the war, the "Al Aqsa Flood."

Within Our Lifetime announced another rally to "Flood New York City" on Saturday. "The struggle continues, and the flood rises stronger!" the group said.

And like Hamas claiming victory and further resistance from the ruins of Gaza, the protesters in New York have not achieved most of their aims in their months on the streets. The colleges haven’t divested, the politicians haven’t flipped, the police haven’t folded. The campus disruptions have become more scarce and the street protests more sporadic. Student leaders have been suspended from their prestigious universities, faculty have lost their jobs and activists are facing lengthy prison terms. The Biden administration they demonstrated against lost, but the incoming Trump administration has little tolerance for their activism. Leftist Israelis in the city, potentially potent allies in a push for Paleostinian statehood, want nothing to do with them.

The protesters are also unpopular with the public, according to polls. They have targeted cancer patients, museums, memorials, libraries, transportation hubs and holiday events, and lambasted some of the politicians most sympathetic to the Paleostinians.

"You guys are protesting at a hospital. What the fuck is wrong with you?" a counter-protester shouted at demonstrators outside the NYU Langone Health Center earlier this month.

Despite the setbacks, and after the ceasefire, the groups have only vowed to continue on the same path.

At Thursday night’s protest, as a dusting of snow descended on the crowd, a speaker lauded the "heroism of resistance" and the "Al Aqsa Flood."

"The price has been devastatingly high but so has it been in every revolution," she said. "Now is not the time to rest but to reignite the fire."

"We must continue to struggle. This is what we’ve learned in the last 15 months," she said, to cheers.

"Long live the intifada," the crowd chanted.

Britain
Over 20 anti-Israel demonstrators arrested in London for violating protest restrictions
[IsraelTimes] Police have arrested more than 20 protesters at a Paleostine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) protest in central London after they violated police orders meant to contain the demonstration.

Police had ordered organizers to keep the protest confined to the area of Whitehall, away from nearby Portland Place and Russell Square, where the Central Synagogue is located.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
protesters carrying signs with antisemitic messages violated the orders and proceeded toward Trafalgar Square, where 20-30 were arrested.

imposed by the police on today’s protest. Frontline officers acquitted themselves superbly in the face of extremely challenging circumstances, making numerous arrests across central London, but why had they been put in such a dangerous position by their superiors?

The Met’s Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, is learning what happens when you bend over backwards to accommodate Death Eaters for fifteen months and then dare to impose a minor restriction. For over a year we have called for these marches to be banned; we reiterated that call yesterday when it was clear that the police would not be able to control the situation. Police authorised a static protest for activists who repeatedly declared, ’#WeWillMarch’. The result was chaos in London.

What happened today was not a case of a few bad apples. It is time that the organisers of the protest, several of whom appeared to be involved in trying to break the police lines and defy the conditions, finally be arrested and their organizations’ future demonstrations must be contained as static rallies. Anything short of that would broadcast the message that the police have lost control of law and order in our nation’s capital, or, worse still, that some people are above the law, and some forms of extremism are acceptable.

For more than a year, PSC has conducted weekly marches from near the BBC’s Broadcasting House to Whitehall, bringing antisemitic rhetoric and threats to the door of London’s Central Synagogue. These marches are timed to threaten Jewish families leaving the synagogue after Shabbat services, the non-profit organization Campaign Against Antisemitism says.

During the past week, the Metropolitan Police ordered PSC to keep its weekly march confined to the Whitehall area alone to avoid confrontation. However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
protest organizers threatened to flout the order, saying on X, "If they refuse to do so and prevent us from marching, we will rally on Whitehall in protest."

"This is a dark day for London," Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAM) says on X following the protest. "Not only did we see the usual antisemitic bile and open support for Jew-hating terrorist organizations to which our nation’s capital has become accustomed, but Death Eaters repeatedly breached the modest restrictions imposed by the police on today’s protest."

"What happened today was not a case of a few bad apples. It is time that the organizers of the protest, several of whom appeared to be involved in trying to break the police lines and defy the conditions, finally be arrested and their organizations’ future demonstrations must be contained as static rallies," CAM says.

Kursk II: Bodies of seven killed civilians found in basements in Kursk region village
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] In the village of Russkoye Porechnoye, Sudzhansky District, Kursk Region, the remains of seven civilians were discovered by Russian military. They were found in two basements of houses. This was reported by Russian security agencies.

In the video footage, which is at the disposal of TASS, one of the deceased had a head wound, another body was badly damaged by the explosion. The nature of the injuries of the remaining deceased cannot be determined.

According to Readovka, militants in Russkoye Porechny tortured and killed old people in basements.

The fighters of the 352nd MRR, who liberated the village, found the mutilated bodies of old men with their hands tied, bruises and bullet wounds. The Ukrainian Armed Forces pulled hats over their heads, shot them in the legs and left them to die.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Russian troops in the Kursk region are advancing in all directions. At the same time, the Ukrainian army, despite the transfer of additional reserves, is suffering significant losses and is retreating.

Russian units have already liberated 63.2% (801 sq. km) of the territory of the Kursk region initially occupied by the enemy (1,268 sq. km). In two weeks of January, the Russian Armed Forces liberated four settlements in this region: Alexandria, Leonidovo, Russkoye Porechnoye and Kruglenkoye.

On January 13, The New York Times reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces acknowledged that their attempts to counterattack in the Kursk region had failed. The publication noted that Russian forces had largely prevented an attack on the region.

Full-fledged allies: How Russia and Iran are putting up a barrier to Western hegemony
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] by Kirill Semenov
On January 17, after talks in the Kremlin, Russian and Iranian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Masoud Pezeshkian signed a Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. This document is intended to replace the current Treaty on the Fundamentals of Relations and Principles of Cooperation between Russia and Iran, signed back in 2001.

"We are satisfied with the results of the current negotiations. I am confident that the agreements reached will contribute to the further strengthening of the entire complex of Russian-Iranian relations and ties. Of course, the signed interstate agreement will serve this ," the Russian leader said.

According to Pezeshkian, the Islamic Republic's bilateral relations with the Russian Federation are comprehensive. "In fact, I tried, I made every effort to ensure that all the problems that exist on our side were eliminated to this day ," the Iranian president said.

THE LONG ROAD TO PARTNERSHIP
The current document records an important shift in relations between the two states, when the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic not only signed a Strategic Partnership Treaty, but also explicitly spelled out the military aspects of interaction in it. Despite long-standing friendly relations at the present stage, this psychological barrier was quite difficult for both Moscow and Tehran to cross. The parties tried to be cautious about describing their bilateral ties as “strategic”, not to mention avoiding directly declaring military coordination.

It was important for Moscow not to flaunt its special character of interaction with Tehran in front of other Middle Eastern partners, primarily Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and up to a certain point, Israel. And the Iranian leadership has always been weighed down by the domestic political factor and historical memory.

For many Iranians, the Russian Empire was the country that deprived them of part of their ancestral lands, in their opinion, and suppressed uprisings and revolutions. The Soviet Union occupied the country together with Britain and tried to seize “Soviet” South Azerbaijan and “Red” Kurdistan in 1945. And then it was declared a “lesser Satan” — after the formation of the Islamic Republic and the war in Afghanistan, where Tehran was on the side of the Afghan mujahideen opposing the Soviet troops.

But this was overcome. Iran, not without Russia's help, reconciled with its Arab neighbors, and Moscow trusts Israel less and less, having sided with the Kyiv regime. The leadership of the Islamic Republic has already encountered serious domestic political challenges, and those who would have negatively perceived any such agreements with Moscow have gradually moved to the opposition camp. Therefore, Iran increasingly needs to rely on Russia, including for the purposes of its domestic political stability and ability to resist color revolution scenarios.

In fact, such a long discussion of the points of the concluded Treaty was largely connected with these aspects. By the way, a similar Chinese-Iranian agreement was also discussed and agreed upon for more than five years.

It is obvious that the special military operation showed Russia who is its partner and who is its fellow traveler. Therefore, the obvious turn of the Russian Federation to the East, including towards the Islamic world, not only allowed to consolidate the strategic nature of relations between Moscow and Tehran, but also forced us to rethink our civilizational closeness.

This probably accelerated the process of coordinating the document and influenced its content. Among other things, the preamble emphasizes the "closeness of cultures and spiritual and moral values" of the peoples of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic.

FROM ECONOMY TO DEFENSE
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic in Moscow told Regnum that the agreement between Iran and Russia covers many areas of activity. This includes trade and economic cooperation, interaction in the energy sector, environmental protection, as well as defense and security. Iranian diplomats emphasized that the process of developing this agreement has been underway for many years, since the end of 2014, and the negotiation process on this document has continued under three different Iranian governments.

According to them, this document is actually an updated version of the Agreement on Long-Term Cooperation, which was ratified and signed by the two countries in late 2001. Since 2003, when this Agreement entered into force, it was in effect for ten years, that is, until 2013, and then was automatically extended for another five. Now it is the basis for cooperation between Iran and Russia. And the new Agreement will be "a kind of continuation, addition and update of the previous one . "

As noted by the Iranian embassy, the agreement was approved by the two countries at the beginning of the summer. At the same time, Moscow and Tehran were looking for a suitable time to sign the document.

"Over these two or three decades, Iran and Russia have expanded their cooperation in various fields and in all areas of the economy, trade and energy. Therefore, it is natural that in accordance with the requirements of the time, the level and scale of our relations, we needed to update the previous document. This is a bilateral agreement aimed at strengthening relations between Iran and Russia ," the embassy emphasized.

Relations between Iran and Russia, two neighbors, have been tested throughout history, but are now at their peak in the last ten years. Both countries, facing common threats and challenges and sharing a common goal of resisting the Western dominance system, have long needed to take their relations to a new qualitative level, based on a codified and long-term strategy. Therefore, the strategic partnership between Tehran and Moscow, enshrined in the Treaty, can become a turning point for the realization of this important goal.

It is no coincidence that Article 2 of the Treaty emphasizes “the rejection of unipolarity and hegemony in world affairs,” and Moscow and Tehran undertake to “oppose interference by third parties in the internal and external affairs” of the two states.

FOR NOW, A STRATEGIC ALLIANCE INSTEAD OF A MILITARY BLOC
Against the backdrop of confrontation with the collective West, the Treaty may become a step towards the gradual transformation of bilateral relations into a full-fledged strategic alliance. Of course, this does not mean the creation of a formal military-political alliance like NATO. Unlike NATO, Article 3.3 of the Russian-Iranian agreement does not speak of mandatory aid and support, but of the inadmissibility of providing military or other assistance to the aggressor that contributes to the continuation of aggression against the signatory parties.

At the same time, the provisions spelled out in the Treaty are a significant step forward towards an alliance, and its other points open up broad opportunities for the formalization of defense and military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.

In particular, already in Article 1 of the document, "cooperation in the field of defense and security" is called one of the priorities in Russian-Iranian relations. Article 4 is devoted to cooperation between the security and intelligence services of the two countries, which will be regulated by separate agreements, as well as the exchange of information between them.

Article 5 covers all areas of defense cooperation between Iran and Russia. In turn, paragraph 4 of this article, which speaks of consultations in the event of threats, corresponds to the spirit of Article 4 of the NATO treaty, which also speaks of consultations preceding the entry into force of paragraph 5 on military assistance.

By the way, the fifth provision of the North Atlantic Treaty also allows for broad interpretations and does not oblige NATO member countries to come to the aid of a member of the bloc that has been subjected to aggression exclusively by military means, but only in the way that each of the states “considers necessary” as a result of those same consultations.

A separate Article 6 is devoted to military-technical cooperation (MTC) between Russia and Iran. The institutionalization of MTC was secured by the provision on the annual meeting of the relevant bodies responsible for such activities. And, finally, Article 7 establishes cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremism, as well as interaction "on issues of protecting public order and ensuring public safety."

WEAK LINK
Trade and economic ties, unlike military ones, and the economy have always been the weak link in Russian-Iranian relations. The trade turnover between the two countries is within 3-4 billion dollars, while Iran's trade turnover with its neighbors from the UAE has exceeded $11 billion. The signing of the Treaty should revive the dynamics of economic and financial interaction between Moscow and Tehran.

Trade and economic ties are of particular importance given that both countries are facing a large number of tough sanctions from the United States. And the signed Treaty should help create alternative mechanisms for their neutralization through closer cooperation. And here it is important to pay attention to the certain symbolism of the signing of the agreement, which took place three days before Donald Trump , who threatens new restrictions against Iran, returned to the Oval Office. In turn, Russia was subjected shortly before the signing of the Treaty to another package of illegal sanctions, including those concerning oil exports.

According to the Russian president, there should be less bureaucracy and more "specific actions" in trade between Russia and Iran. Vladimir Putin noted that the meaning of the concluded agreement is precisely to create basic additional conditions for the development of trade and economic ties.

There have already been some advances in this direction, which was announced at the press conference following the signing of the Treaty. In particular, our countries have almost completely switched to national currencies in mutual settlements, are striving to build sustainable channels of credit and banking interaction, and are working on linking national payment systems. Thus, in 2024, the share of transactions in Russian rubles and Iranian rials exceeded 95 percent of all bilateral trade operations.

Further implementation of the North-South project is also very promising. "As for North-South, we are interested in this, these are additional opportunities for promoting our goods - both Iranian and Russian - on the world market. Not only we are interested in this, but also those countries that are actively developing trade and economic ties with us ," said Vladimir Putin.

Finally, during the talks in Moscow, Russia and Iran agreed on the route of the gas pipeline to the Islamic Republic via Azerbaijan. As it became known, the talks are in the final stage of discussing the price of supplies. At the first stage, the volume of gas transferred to Iran may amount to 2 billion cubic meters, with the prospect of increasing it to 55 billion cubic meters.

As Iranian experts emphasize, given the numerous opportunities that the two countries have, the strategic partnership agreement will give impetus to the creation of a complementary economic space. It is especially noted that Russia and the EAEU represent a very large market, and Iran's private sector, thanks to its opportunities, can benefit greatly after the mechanisms of the Treaty begin to work.

The expected entry into force of a full-scale free trade agreement between Iran and the EAEU will undoubtedly help to expand Russian-Iranian commercial ties. The Agreement may also contribute to Iran's more active and, most importantly, effective participation in tandem with Russia in the SCO and BRICS. Masoud Pezeshkian also drew special attention to this aspect.

"The changes that are taking place in our region, taking into account the role of new organizations and structures such as BRICS and SCO, are indeed new opportunities, new potential for both countries to interact in the future. The active participation of Iran and Russia in these new regional structures is of great importance for all of us ," the Iranian president said.

***

Although the signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement had been planned for a long time and could even have taken place during the BRICS summit in Kazan, it seems most appropriate now. This is also due to the events in Syria, when a certain mistrust arose between Moscow and Tehran due to the refusal to support the Bashar al-Assad regime in the final stages of its existence.

The Islamic Republic also fears that after Trump's arrival in the White House, peace talks in Ukraine will begin, and Iran may become a "bargaining chip." At the same time, Moscow is also watching with some caution the reformist government's readiness to make concessions to the West and gradually surrender its positions in the region in exchange for lifting sanctions. Now Iran may be required to refuse cooperation with Russia.

The treaty should at least reduce such concerns and make Moscow and Tehran trust each other more. The strategic nature of the relationship and partnership between the two countries is now formalized and enshrined in paper, along with the corresponding obligations - and this is not something that can be easily ignored.

Thousands rally at Hostages Square before deal starts: ‘Finally beginning to see the light’, 3 arrested for attacking cops
[IsraelTimes] Thousands of people flock to Hostages Square in Tel Aviv for the weekly rally urging the release of the captives, some 12 hours before the Gaza ceasefire-hostage deal is set to take effect.

Freed hostage Amit Soussana, who was released during a weeklong truce in November 2023, says that she “didn’t think for a moment that the deal didn’t include everyone and that the fighting could resume.”

She says she watched all the releases on a television in Gaza during that truce agreement.

“I didn’t know when I would get out, and still I was so happy for every hostage who was released,” she says.

“When I was released, I left behind people I love,” she says. “We can’t do that to them again. They won’t survive it.”

“Today we are finally beginning to see the light, but true victory, and a recovery for all of us, can start only once the last of the hostages comes back home,” she adds.

The deal will see 33 hostages released in the first “humanitarian” phase of the agreement. The remaining 65 hostages are to be released over the deal’s next phases.

“The agreement has to include everyone,” says Soussana. “We must formulate the second and third phases now and make sure nobody is left behind.”

Soussana, who has spoken publicly about the sexual assault she endured in captivity, tells the audience that the three women expected to be released on Sunday “must not return to a divided society.”

“The return will be hard, but I know life trumps everything,” she says.

Ofri Bibas Levi, sister of hostage Yarden Bibas, marks the second birthday of Yarden’s son Kfir, the youngest hostage in Gaza.

“I try to draw comfort from the thought that this year, Kfir’s birthday is the date when the agreement will finally be ratified,” she says. “This day will become a symbol of hope, a new beginning, for the rehabilitation and the recovery of an entire nation.”

She notes that the family has for the past year been searching for the purple toy elephant that Kfir can be seen clutching in a now iconic photo of him.

“To us the elephant symbolizes Kfir, the life that was, normalcy, the childhood that was stolen,” she says.

“This week — with painful timing — the elephant has finally been found.”

Police say 3 arrested at Jerusalem protest against hostage-ceasefire deal last night

[IsraelTimes] Police in Jerusalem say they arrested three people last night for allegedly attacking police at a protest against the hostage-ceasefire deal with Hamas that was held near the entrance to the city.

According to a police spokesman, protesters threw stones at officers on duty, lightly injuring a Border Police officer. Cops also confiscated a bottle containing flammable material from one of the participants.

Last night’s protest marked the fourth time right-wing demonstrators have blocked traffic under Chords Bridge since the ceasefire was announced Wednesday.

“Seeing that the rioters disregarded police orders, the officers took immediate action to contain and disperse those disrupting the peace to restore order,” says the spokesperson.

British-Pakistani judge hands jail terms to West Yorkshire grooming gang members
[GEO.TV] British-Pak Judge Ahmed Nadim has sentenced three men from Keighley who were part of a West Yorkshire grooming gang in the late 1990s for rape at Bradford Crown Court.

Overall, a group of eight men, who were part of the grooming gang have been jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
, BBC reported.

Three of those included Ibrar Hussain, 47, and brothers Imtiaz Ahmed, 62, and Fayaz Ahmed, 45 were sentenced for rape by the court a day ago.

The court convicted the men after finding them guilty of non-recent sexual offences on a girl following a trial in November and December 2024.

Five other men had been jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
last year for their involvement in the sexual assault.

According to the prosecution, the grooming gang members had raped a 13-year-old girl in West Yorkshire in 1990.

Hussain and Imtiaz and Fayaz were all sentenced for raping one of the girls, who was aged between 13 and 14 when the offences took place, the report said.

Hussain was jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
for six-and-a-half years for two counts of rape, whereas, Imtiaz for nine years in his absence for one count of rape and Fayaz was given seven-and-a-half years imprisonment in his absence for two counts of rape.

Imtiaz and Fayaz had absconded during a retrial last year and were believed to be abroad, the court heard.
So their real sentence is banishment, which is somewhat better than nothing. Though I would have preferred full castration and solitary confinement for life, those are not things England does anymore.
After sentencing the three men, Judge Nadim expressed hope that the sentences gave the victims "comfort of knowing that their voices at long last have been heard".

"They have had to tread a painful and arduous path. I commend them both for their courage and steadfastness," he said.

After the hearing, West Yorkshire Police stated in a statement that five men have received the following sentences after the first trial which concluded on October 20, 2023:

  • Amreaz Asghar 47 of Keighley was jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
for 4 and a half years for rape

  • Perwaz Asghar 50 of Nottingham was jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
for 6 and a half years for two indecent assaults

  • Mohammed Din 47 of Keighley was jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
for 14 years for 11 counts of rape

  • Sajid Mahmood Khan 45 of Keighley was jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
    for 3 years for rape.

  • Zehroon Razak 47 of Keighley was jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
for 6 and a half years for rape

Pointing towards the recent verdict, the force said that the second trial was concluded on December 13, 2024, in which one man was convicted of child sex offences and two other men were also convicted but the trial was held in their absence.

Earlier this month, the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) said that the vast majority of sexual grooming gang offences are carried out by white men.
Possibly true. But we have no way of knowing, when most such offenses by “Asians” have been actively covered up.
The statement came after X billionaire owner Elon Musk published several posts making false accusations against British-Pak men.
Sorry, O GEO reporter, but those accusations are true. You are part of the cover-up.
New figures from the police database show that, where ethnicity data was available, 85% of ''group-based'' child abusers were white in the first three quarters of 2024. The same data for the whole of 2023 showed 83% of offenders were white.
And where ethnicity data was deliberately not recorded by the police? Or the crimes themselves were not recorded by the police? One must always understand statistics in context, you know. That’s what good reporters strive always to do, unlike propagandists.

Home Front: WoT
'Victim of justice'': Dr Aafia Siddiqui seeks US presidential pardon before Biden hands over to Trump
[GEO.TV] Dr Aafia Siddiqui
...American-educated Pak cognitive neuroscientist who was convicted of assault with intent to murder her U.S. interrogators in Afghanistan. In September 2010, she was sentenced to 86 years in jug after a three-ring trial. Siddiqui, using the alias Fahrem or Feriel Shahin, was one of six alleged al-Qaeda members who bought $19 million worth of blood diamonds in Liberia immediately prior to 9-11-01. Since her incarceration Paks have taken her to their heart and periodically erupt into demonstrations, while the government tries to find somebody to swap for her...
, a Pak neuroscientist currently serving an 86-year sentence at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas, has sought presidential pardon ahead of power transfer in the US, terming her jail term as ''a blatant miscarriage of justice''.

Her lawyer was of the view that the US intelligence "got the wrong end of the stick in the beginning" as agencies thought Siddiqui was a nuclear physicist working on a radioactive bomb "when she really did her PhD in education".
Siddiqui, who has been languishing in US prison for over 14 years, hoped she would be freed after "new evidence" emerged which may suggest her innocence, Sky News reported.

She has maintained her innocence and hopes ''the tide could now be turning''.

"I hope I am not forgotten, and I hope that one day soon I will be released," she told the British news channel through her lawyer.

"I am... a victim of injustice, pure and simple. Every day is torture... it is not easy. One day, Inshallah (God-willing), I will be released from this torment."

In a 76,500-word dossier, her counsel Clive Stafford Smith urged outgoing US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The man who made Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter look competent, if only by comparison....
to issue a pardon for her client.

Her lawyer claims a catalogue of intelligence errors led to her initially becoming a suspect, citing witness testimonies that were unavailable at the time of her trial.

He alleges that, while Siddiqui was visiting Pakistain in 2003, she was kidnapped with her three children and handed to the CIA, which took her to Bagram air base in Afghanistan.

At the time of her trial in 2010, the judge stated: "There is no credible evidence in the record that the US officials and/or agencies detained Siddiqui" before her 2008 arrest, adding there is "no evidence in the record to substantiate these allegations or to establish them as fact".

Her lawyer was of the view that the US intelligence "got the wrong end of the stick in the beginning" as agencies thought Siddiqui was a nuclear physicist working on a radioactive bomb "when she really did her PhD in education".

#1  "when she really did her PhD in education".

IMO, anyone with a degree in "education" deserves death.

Israel retains right to resume Gaza fighting, Netanyahu says
[GEO.TV] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the first stage of the ceasefire deal is temporary and that both US President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump will back Israel's right to resume attacking Gaza in the second phase of the deal.

The PM added that if Israel returns to fighting, it will do it in "new, forceful ways" and he will not relent until all Israel hostages are released, as quoted by Al Jazeera.

Netanyahu added that Israel will not allow "the arrival of any weapons" for Hamas.

Morocco boat tragedy: Probe initiated against 20 FIA officials over ''involvement in human smuggling''
[GEO.TV] After at least 44 Paks reportedly bit the dust in the Morocco migrant boat tragedy, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has kicked off a probe against its 20 officials who had allegedly cleared travel documents of victims at three major airports.

The development came after the federal government launched a high-level probe into the tragic boat incident in Morocco wherein dozens of Pak migrants colonists drowned while attempting to reach Spain from West Africa earlier this month.

In a statement on Saturday, an FIA spokesperson said that the agency initiated a probe against its 20 officials over suspicions of their involvement in human smuggling. It added that the officials had allegedly cleared the victims of the ill-fated boat at airports.

The unfortunate incident occurred on January 16 when a boat carrying irregular migrants colonists from the African nation of Mauritania to Spain capsized. 50 migrants colonists, including 44 Paks, were presumed dead.

Although, as many as 36 Pak citizens were rescued, the rest still remain missing which, as per a report from the Pak Embassy, should be presumed dead.

The ill-fated boat departed from Mauritania on January 2 with 86 migrants colonists on board. Moroccan authorities reported that 66 of the passengers were Pak nationals and noted that it had rescued 36 people after the accident.

The suspected FIA officials include eight from Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
airport and six each from Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...

and Lahore airports. The agency also revealed that Mauritania was the "third and new route" for human smuggling after The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and Libya.

Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar also issued instructions for coordination of the government's response and asked the ministries of foreign affairs and interior to ensure the provision of efficient and timely assistance to the Pak victims of Moroccan boat tragedy.
