But the deep state will ultimately be destroyed because of one major thing they underestimated. The deep state never counted on the massive silent majority of Americans who have not and will not ever give up on Trump or America!

While the mainstream media (MSM) focuses on the fake news Trump-Russia collusion farce, the US is engulfed in the most corrupt event in its history and all roads lead back to former President Obama.

As a matter of fact, the fake Trump investigation is a major piece in the attempted coup d’état currently in place and the MSM’s fake news reporting is part of the Coup.

Bolton is right. This is the biggest challenge to the survival of the country since the Civil War.
Democrats in the 1860’s would rather break up the Union than accept the election of the first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln.

Today’s Democrats would rather remove another Republican President, Donald Trump, from office than accept the results of the 2016 election.

Democrats in the 1860’s broke up the Union because they didn’t want to give up their power over the executive branch of government and they didn’t want to end slavery, Democrats today are partaking in their Coup D’état because they don’t want to give up their power over the federal government and don’t want to be put in jail for their crimes committed in the years before the election.

The Obama Administration and the deep state, those individuals in government that have created crimes and continue to commit crimes to support their cause, don’t want President Trump to change the destructive direction in the US. The Obama Administration did all it could to destroy this great nation and hand it over to the world of global elites. President Trump and the Americans that voted for him want to save America and the world by standing for freedom, life, human rights and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans. The US is at a crossing point.

This started long before the 2016 election. The Obama Administration was the most corrupt group of villains in the White House ever. They were involved in numerous crimes and corrupt dealings and efforts to destroy America including covering up their decision not to save four Americans in Benghazi, lying about Obamacare, doubling the US Debt with nothing to show for it, trading the Taliban 5 for a traitor, creating ISIS, giving 20 percent of US uranium to Russia (Uranium One), etc. The list goes on and on.

Then during the 2016 election the Obama Administration took a fake dossier to the FISA court and used it as a means to spy on their political opponent during the election. We now know that the dossier was as fake as a National Enquirer article created by a company known to create nasty, made up accusations against individuals for a significant payout. This dossier was then taken by the FBI to the FISA Court to obtain approval to spy on candidate and now President Trump.

The dossier was not a crime. The dems paying for it was not a crime. Using an FBI informant to write it is grey. Using it for political gain is underhanded, but not against the law. But taking pure fiction, using the informants reputation, and delivering it to the FBI in an attempt to force legal action against a candidate, corrupting the most classified warrant system, and violating the constitutional rights of American citizens in an effort to discredit a legitimate candidate and corruptly take an election to the highest office in America is not only criminal, not only qualifies under RICO, but it is the definition of a soft coup and treason.

You may be thinking of this, from Byron York

David Kramer, a former State Department official who, in late November 2016, traveled to London to receive a briefing and a copy of the Trump dossier from its author, former British spy Christopher Steele. Kramer then returned to the U.S. to give the document to Sen. John McCain.

McCain later took a copy of the dossier to the FBI's then-director, James Comey. But the FBI already had the document; Steele himself gave the dossier to the bureau in installments, reportedly beginning in early July 2016.

#14  The two biggies that jump out to me are:

The "corroborating media articles that were used to validate the dossier were in fact initiated by either Steele himself, in meetings with the media, OR were plants created by Fusion to PAID journalists.

Second, McCabe admitted in testimony to Congress in December that the warrants would not have been sought without the dossier.

According to the memo the sole validity placed on the dossier by the FBI was Steele's previous reputation as a reliable source (they either ignored, or were not told by Steele that the dossier was paid for by the Clinton campaign).

I still don't understand why, after it came out that the Clinton campaign financed this thing, that the investigation was curtailed.

Both the subchapters covering physical searches and electronic surveillance provide for criminal and civil liability for violations of FISA.

Criminal sanctions follows violations of electronic surveillance by intentionally engaging in electronic surveillance under the color of law or through disclosing information known to have been obtained through unauthorized surveillance. The penalties for either act are fines up to US $10,000, up to five years in jail, or both.[15]

In addition, the statute creates a cause of action for private individuals whose communications were unlawfully monitored. The statute permits actual damages of not less than $1,000 or $100 per day. In addition, that statute authorizes punitive damages and an award of attorney's fees.[16] Similar liability is found under the subchapter pertaining to physical searches. In both cases, the statute creates an affirmative defense for law enforcement personnel acting within their official duties and pursuant to a valid court order. Presumably, such a defense is not available to those operating exclusively under presidential authorization.

The first Constitution and Republic were the products of the first constitutional convention, or as some historians call it, the Philadelphia Convention. Alexander Martin was a federalist, favoring a strong federal government, in a state that was overwhelmingly anti-federalist. This may explain why, as family lore has it, he was the only Founding Father not elected to his own state’s convention. He was, however, twice governor, so I don’t suppose things turned out so badly for him.

Economy to grow at 5.4% rate in first quarter, Atlanta Fed tracker shows (video)
[NCBC] The economy is on track to put up blockbuster growth numbers in the first quarter, according to the latest forecast from the Atlanta Fed.

GDP is expected to surge 5.4 percent to start 2018, the central bank branch estimated in its latest rolling look at how the economy is progressing.

If the forecast holds, it would be the best quarter since the Great Recession ended in 2009. The previous highest was third quarter of 2014, which hit 5.2 percent.

However, the Atlanta Fed's tracker has shown to have reliability issues in the past. In particular, the model's sensitivity to the ISM manufacturing index has led the gauge astray multiple times, causing growth to be overstated.

Democratic Mayor Busted For Accepting Illegal Russian Checks
[Townhall] Well, while the news media continue to try and keep this dying Russian collusion alive, there was a Democrat who was recently arrested for actually accepting checks from said country. Joy Cooper, the mayor of Hallandale Beach, Florida, is out on $12,000 bond after she was arrested for accepting illegal campaign contributions from Russians in a FBI sting. She’s currently awaiting trial.

The transaction occurred during her 2012 re-election campaign, where she thought the money was coming from a real estate firm that was actually set up by the FBI. This operation began in May of 2012, with agents hiring Alan Koslow, a south Florida lawyer, to represent them in this transaction; they wanted to contact Cooper to inquire about areas that could be developed in Hallandale Beach. The mayor met with the undercover agents that July. A deal was struck in which she would get the votes to approve their projects in return for a sizable campaign contribution. 77 Northern California businesses raided by ICE
[ABC 10News] Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided 77 business in the Bay Area throughout the week, according to KRON.

A statement released by ICE says the raids happened between January 29 and January 31. The raids happened in the San Jose, San Francisco and Sacramento areas. A list of locations raided has yet to be released.

"From Jan. 29 to 31, 2018, ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents served notices of inspection (NOIs), also known as I-9 audit notices, to approximately 77 businesses across the San Francisco area of responsibility. A notice of inspection alerts a business owner that HSI is going to audit their hiring records to determine whether or not they are in compliance with the law. [American Thinker] Democrats at President Trump's State of the Union address refused to honor the parents of two girls in New York who were hunted down and beaten to death by a pack of MS-13 gang members -- and the parents are angry about it. According to Fox News, some Democrats may have actually booed them.

In the Democrats' minds, it's all about staying on message. The killers were illegal immigrants and therefore were to be defended no matter what they did, because championing and encouraging illegal immigration is now the sole defining Democratic issue.

But this case is interesting because it pits them squarely against the black community, where the girls were from. It's a dilemma for them because there's no choosing here, the only right course of action is to support justice for the girls and comfort for the grieving parents. Trump got the tone just right in his SOTU speech honoring and comforting them.

And yet, incredibly, the Democrats, including even the congressional Black Caucus, sat stone-faced, glaring, maybe booing, and refused to honor them.

[CNN] Top White House aides are worried FBI Director Christopher Wray could quit if the highly controversial Republican memo alleging the FBI abused its surveillance tools is released, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation tell CNN.

Wray has made clear he is frustrated that President Donald Trump picked him to lead the FBI after he fired FBI Director James Comey in May, yet his advice on the Nunes memo is being disregarded and cast as part of the purported partisan leadership of the FBI, according to a senior law enforcement official.

Wray's stance is "raising hell," one source familiar with the matter said.

Wray has not directly threatened to resign after clashing with Trump over the possible release of the memo, the source added, because that is not his style of dealing with conflict.

Why Trump's FBI head Christopher Wray urged withholding the Nunes memo

The first thing Wray must do is avoid the trap of taking any actions that could be successfully contested. Even though the executive levels of the FBI do not enjoy civil service protections, they have promoted and placed staff allies with those protections at critical organizational positions. Those allies can slow walk desired actions, bottle up critical information (that can set-up the CEO for embarrsment and failure), and resist him in countless ways that will not be discovered for a long time, if ever.In order to combat these moles, Wray's principal counter-weapon has to be the mainstream FBI professionals, the ones who genuinely are committed to truth, justice and the American way, the ones who are embarrassed and appalled at what they have seen of the corruption. They are the ones who can spot the “resistance” forces, call out their activities, and counteract their politicization. There are a lot of long knives that start to be unsheated when careers are imperiled.

The most important weapon in mobilizing these allies is the powerful culture of the FBI, a culture that sustains the dedication expected of FBI professionals. He has to reinforce the positive aspects of that culture and turn them to the goals he and President Trump hold: removing politics from their operations and uncovering the abuses that have taken place since the poltiicization of the Obama years.

One of the foundations of the FBI’s organizational culture ever since founder J. Edgar Hoover’s days has been the imperative to avoid embarrassing the Bureau. Since uncovering corruption inevitably will embarrass the FBI, it is important that Wray establish the principle that only provable misconduct will be revealed and then punished. He must be seen not as a wrecking ball, but as someone who will restore the FBI’s standing and win back public trust by being totally honest, while protecting innocents from false accusations.

In this context, his reported urging of redaction of names in the Nunes memo can be seen as an effort to protect the good guys, not shield the bad guys. Don’t forget The Nunes memo is not the last word, for the Horowitz Inspector General’s report is going to be issued in a matter of weeks. Any shielding at this point is a short term act.

The task ahead for Wray includes moving moles out of their critical positions, firing those that can be fired for misconduct (a long and difficult process), and moving and de-fanging the others, while moving allies into positions where they can do the nitty gritty of cleaning up the messes. Those allies have to know that he has their back. An FBI Director who seemed eager to jump the gun and embarrass the agency without due process might have a much tougher time persuading people down the organization chart to take some career risks to help his reforms along over the opposition of powerful entrenched opponents currently in positions to retaliate against them.

Is there any evidence these people exist? In a hierarchical organization, culture flows from the top down. You may believe X, but if the guys at the top say Y, then Y it is, at least until the day you have finally had enough and quit.

There is evidence that the FBI crime lab is either incompetent or corrupt. Is that an anomaly or part of the organization's DNA. I would like to believe the FBI is populated with people "who are embarrassed and appalled at what they have seen of the corruption", but I wouldn't bet money on it. And that saddens me.

I watched Laura Ingraham recently. She stated that when DOJ/FBI announced that it had "lost" the Strozok text messages, her switchboard lit up with all the rank and file FBI agents calling in saying that that was not possible.

96 out of 100 are like you and me; the 4% is on the 7th floor.

A guy I knew didn't re-up for the Navy and left his commission to take less money working for the Secret Service protecting the president. There are good eggs out there who are being badly led.

There’s an important but little-noticed subtext in the revelations about alleged FBI misconduct in the investigations into Hillary Clinton’s email practices and Donald Trump’s Russia associations.

It’s the light they shine on what has come to be routine obstruction of public records laws by federal officials.

The records that federal agencies generate while in our employ aren’t owned by faceless bureaucrats or political officials who can choose to withhold or disclose at their discretion and convenience. The records are owned by us: the public.

That includes text messages.

In the past two decades as communications via email, smart phones and social media have grown routine, there’s evidence that federal officials have consciously devised ways to thwart public records laws and keep their communications ‐ our records ‐ secret. Federal officials have used private email accounts, private servers and aliases (not their own name) for public business. They have deleted or lost messages that are supposed to be saved.

And they have learned to use text messaging.

In a new exchange released by the Senate Homeland Security committee today, FBI officials Lisa Page and Peter Strzok seem to discuss this very issue in private texts.

#7  If they used CDMA phones then outside of the FBI's wiretap on the land side and the NSA's from space - most everything in a message should be possible to reconstruct from the phone companies Call Detail Logs. The reason is that CDMA always has 3 or more air links to the provider for quality of service. Usually one of the links (legs) is negotiating doing a handoff. The provider has a couple of seconds of actual call data/voice either side of the handoff and with the multiple legs one can walk the call detail logs of the different servers and link/overlay to reconstruct most of the call. In terms of text messaging that's likely the whole call. So yeah, all this stuff could be retrieved from the phone company engineering call detail records. The problem would be explaining the request to the phone companies. The manufactures were kind of aware but we (development teams) could never get the sales and support folks to listen to us explain this.
Modern GSM likely has similar features that the providers might not even be aware they have. (ATT and others are just kind of stupid.)

[The Hill] Former CIA Director Leon Panetta said Thursday that President Trump risks a "constitutional crisis" by pushing for the release of a GOP memo detailing alleged government surveillance abuses over objections from the FBI.

In an interview with NBC's Chuck Todd, Panetta said he worries that the system of checks and balances in the federal government is breaking down.

"There is no question, Chuck, that it is breaking down the process as it was designed to work so that all sides would have say in the process," Panetta said on MSNBC's "MTP Daily."

"We have check and balances. But you have to establish ways for those checks and balances to work," the former Obama administration official continued.

"When that starts to break down, when the president says I’m going to release it no matter what the FBI says, or what the Justice Department says, then it creates what I consider a constitutional crisis," he finished.

Coroner Defies Court Order To Release Autopsy Of Vegas Mass Murderer Paddock
[DailyCaller] Clark County Nevada Coroner John Fudenberg is defying a court order to release the full autopsy report of Stephen Paddock, the shooter who caused the deadliest mass murder in the nation, killing 58 and wounding close to 700 people at a concert in Las Vegas.

District Court Judge Timothy Williams ordered the coroner Tuesday to immediately release the autopsy. Fudenberg is conferring with others in his office, and no date had been given for his compliance with the judge’s order, the coroner’s office told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The office also told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which sued for the autopsy report, they wouldn’t release Paddock’s autopsy report until it was "finalized."

"The coroner’s office has fought to keep autopsy reports confidential," according to the the Review-Journal.

A judge ordered the coroner Jan. 11 to pay about $32,000 in legal costs to the Review-Journal for refusing to release public records to the newspaper.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released an interim report Jan. 8 on the shooting. The report gave only scant information about the autopsy and did not release either the autopsy or a toxicology report on Paddock.

Ex-Cop Testifies That Baltimore Police Carried Fake Guns To Plant On Suspects

[Daily Wire] An former Baltimore Police detective testified Tuesday that several corrupt Baltimore cops kept fake guns in their cars to plant on suspects in case they were ever accused of a "dirty shooting."

Maurice Ward, who is a former member of Baltimore's Gun Trace Task Force — the group now involved in an ongoing corruption trial in Maryland — told the jury that while on duty with the Task Force, he noticed that several of his colleagues kept BB guns and other fake weapons in their glove compartments. Ward claimed they kept the toys “in case we accidentally hit somebody or got into a shootout, so we could plant them," according to the Baltimore Sun.

Although Ward was unable to say whether Baltimore cops had actually ever planted a fake weapon on a dead suspect, at least one of the defendants, one of Ward's fellow detectives, was found to have a fake gun in his glove compartment following his 2015 arrest.

Fidel Castro's oldest son Diaz-Balart calls it quits
[FOX] The oldest son of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro committed suicide at the age of 68, Cuban state media reported Thursday.

Fidel "Fidelito" Castro Diaz-Balart is the oldest son of Castro and his first wife, Mirta Diaz Balart.

Diaz-Balart was said to have killed himself Thursday morning after receiving months of treatment for a "deeply depressed state," according to official website Cubadebate. He reportedly "required a hospitalization regime then outpatient follow-up" as part of his treatment.

Before his death, Diaz-Balart was a scientific adviser to the Council of State and was the vice president of the Cuban Academy of Sciences.

Among his own offspring, Castro only publicly recognized Fidelito, the angel-faced, blond boy from revolution-era photographs who caused double-takes because he resembled his father. As an adult he rose to the top post at Cuba's Atomic Energy Commission before his father removed him for unpublicized reasons in the early 1990s.

Diaz-Balart was born in 1949 and brought to the United States in the 1950’s after his mother divorced Castro. While in Mexico preparing for the guerrilla war, Castro persuaded Mirta to send Fidelito for a two-week visit, but then refused to send him back. While the boy was out for a walk with Castro's sister, three armed men jumped from a car and grabbed Diaz-Balart so he could be reunited with his mother.

Amazon reports nearly $2 billion in profit, blowing past Wall Street expectations for holiday quarter
[Tech Crunch] Amazon reported quarterly financials after the bell Thursday for its fourth quarter, the all-important holiday season for the e-commerce giant. And its numbers had some people doing a double take, after earnings per share came in at $3.75, more than double the $1.85 that analysts surveyed by Yahoo Finance were estimating.

Net income was $1.9 billion for the quarter. For the full 2017 year, it was $3 billion. This was partly due to a tax cut that benefited Amazon to the tune of $789 million.

It’s a far cry from the days when Amazon was unprofitable. For years, Amazon was able to get away with convincing investors that they should bet on its future growth.

Net sales grew to a massive $60.5 billion, up 38% from the prior year. Analysts had been expecting $59.83 billion.

Amazon Web Services, the cloud services business, accounted for $5.1 billion in revenue for the quarter. This is up from $3.5 billion in same timeframe the previous year.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department’s third-ranking official, Tom Shannon, said on Thursday he was stepping down, the latest senior career diplomat to exit since President Donald Trump took office a year ago. Shannon, who serves as under secretary of state for political affairs, is the most senior career diplomat at the State Department and has been a fixture among the nation’s diplomatic ranks during more than 34 years of service. In a letter to department staff, Shannon, 60, said he was resigning for personal reasons.

"My decision is personal, and driven by a desire to attend to my family, take stock of my life, and set a new direction for my remaining years," Shannon wrote in a note to staff after informing U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Thursday of his decision to retire.

Shannon worked recently on some of the most complex and sensitive issues, including Iran’s compliance with the landmark nuclear deal and fraught relations with Russia.

Shannon’s departure is part of a steady stream of senior career diplomats who have left since Trump became president. It will deprive the State Department of a seasoned veteran at a time when the United States is grappling with crises on several fronts, most notably North Korea’s nuclear threat. His calm demeanor, language skills and decades of experience made him a frequent choice for some of the thorniest assignments.

Shannon this month represented the United States at the inauguration of Liberia's new president, George Weah, the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit the region after reported remarks by Trump that immigrants from Africa and Haiti come from "shithole" countries.

Shannon, who was ambassador to Brazil from 2005 to 2009 and served in posts in Cameroon, Gabon and Johannesburg, was tasked by former President Barack Obama in 2015 with improving acrimonious relations with Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro.

He was seen as a stabilizing force after Trump and Tillerson took office with a promise to downsize the State Department and policies. He had to manage growing dissent among career diplomats over the new president's policies that antagonized Muslim nations and long-time allies in Europe and in Mexico.

The forcing out of many senior diplomats, the failure to nominate or to win Senate confirmation for officials to fill key agency roles, and a perception that Tillerson is inaccessible have eroded morale, according to current officials.

The State Department's Under Secretary of State for Public Affairs, Steve Goldstein, said Shannon's departure was not related to low morale and called him "an amazing man."

Tillerson in November said he was offended by claims that the State Department was being hollowed out under Trump, saying it was functioning well despite scathing criticism from former American diplomats including Nicholas Burns and Ryan Crocker.

In a statement on Thursday, Tillerson congratulated Shannon on a distinguished career saying "his time was well spent."

"I particularly appreciate his depth of knowledge, the role he played during the transition ...and his contributions to our strategy process over the past year," Tillerson said.

In his note, Shannon said he had agreed to stay on until a successor had been named and to ensure a smooth transition.

#9  Okay. Harvard is an easy target, and is often a target of my ire. The Kennedy School of Government is one of everyone's favorite targets. But Thomas Schelling, co-founder of that school, was one of my favorite lecturers.



I wasn't there for history or economics, I was pursuing an education in Physical Chemistry. Nonetheless, Schelling changed my life, and opened my mind to things I had never considered. Please do check the link; anyone involved in the core ideation of Dr. Strangelove is by definition a marvel. Read about this man at the link, please. He was a guy who would be happy to one-on-one with a beer at a local bar. And did.

I didn't fit well with the rest of the student body. I had spent ten years in the Army, 11B4P. Then I got out and went to college. Harvard. I am still amazed they accepted me, and they are probably still amazed that they did.

My advisor (ad hoc) was Edward M. Purcell, another wonder. I think I have been blessed..

Seven people killed, injured in tribal dispute east of Baghdad

Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) – Seven people were killed and injured Thursday in a tribal dispute in eastern Baghdad, a security source was quoted as saying.

Speaking to Baghdad Today, the source said, “One person was killed and six others were injured in an armed dispute in al-Fadiliya area, east of Baghdad.”

“Security forces intervened and arrested one of those involved in the fighting,” the source said, adding that the dead body was moved to the forensic medicine department, while the injured were carried to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Iraq’s government and non-governmental organizations have launched many initiatives over the past period to persuade rival tribesmen to sign petitions to stop their fighting, which claims the lives of several people daily.

The country’s chieftains were also urged to intervene to put an end to tribal disputes through forcing tribesmen to hand over their weapons to the Iraqi army.

Tribal struggles are weakening efforts to reconstruct the country following the defeat of Islamic State.

Five people killed, injured in Baghdad bomb explosion

Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) – Five people were killed and injured Thursday in a bomb blast near a Baghdad café, a security source was quoted as saying.

Speaking to Baghdad Today, the source said, “An explosive device went off near a café in Jisr Diyala region, south of Baghdad, leaving one person dead and four others wounded.”

“A security force rushed to the blast site and carried the body to the forensic medicine department, while the injured were moved to a nearby hospital for treatment,” the source added.

Hamas, Fatah miss another reconciliation deadline as deal withers
[IsraelTimes] The two leading Paleostinian factions missed another deadline Thursday to implement a reconciliation deal, potentially burying the landmark accord aimed at ending their decade-long split.

Terror group Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", was supposed to hand over power in the Gazoo Strip to the Paleostinian Authority, led by secular movement Fatah, by December.

But the handover was missed and a February 1 deadline for solving the issue of two rival civil services passes Thursday with no progress appearing imminent.

While small changes have occurred since the deal was signed in October ‐ notably the handing over of Gazoo’s borders to the Paleostinian Authority ‐ Hamas remains firmly in charge in Gazoo.

Hamas and Fatah trade blame for what could turn out to be a gradual abandoning of the accord.

Bassem Naim, a senior Hamas official, says the Fatah-led government had backed away from the deal "without clear reasons," while Fayez Abu Eita, a Fatah official in Gazoo, calls for Hamas to respect the agreement.

Egypt, which brokered the agreement, has elections coming up and the focus of its leaders appears elsewhere.

The head of the Egyptian intelligence services, Khaled Fawzy, was the chief broker of the deal but was replaced earlier this month.

[ABCNEWS.GO] Nashville Mayor Megan Barry on Wednesday admitted to having an affair with the former head of her security detail.

The man in question, retired Sgt. Robert Forrest of the Metro Nashville Police Department, subsequently admitted to having the affair with Barry.

"Today, I have acknowledged publicly that I have engaged in an extramarital affair with the former head of my security detail," Barry said in a prepared statement. "I accept full responsibility for the pain I have caused my family and his. Forrest, a 32-year veteran of the police force, retired on Wednesday just hours before Barry released the statement, according to WKRN.

[StrategyPage] The UN is threatening sanctions against individuals and groups in Mali if the government and local leaders in northern Mali don’t implement the 2015 peace treaty that ended the war in the north, but has not yet brought peace. To placate the UN and major donors the government has agreed to work things out with the Tuaregs by the end of March. But promises like that have been made before and always broken. The federal government continues to tolerate corrupt practices which includes stealing a lot of the aid money meant for the north and sending officials up there who demand bribes to get anything done. The UN also insists that presidential elections be held on schedule in July and would prefer that the incumbent kept it legal and not another effort to become president-for-life. The president is also under pressure from the UN to a December 2017 order for police to shut down any unauthorized protests. That meant all protests against government corruption and mismanagement were to be attacked and that has created more popular anger, especially from the suppliers of all that foreign aid.

Illegal immigrant accused of molesting child, giving her herpes
[FOX] Huber Morales, 24, was placed in custody at the Vanderburgh County Jail last week, 14 News reported.

Morales told Evansville police he was an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. He reportedly admitted to police he touched the 7-year-old girl and had sexual relations with her due to “strong black magic” that was being used against him, the arrest affidavit stated.

Morales was charged Friday with “five counts of child molesting, two counts of level 1 felonies and three as level 4 felonies,” Courier & Press reported.

The child Morales was accused of raping told investigators the man touched her genitals “a lot of times.”

The sexual abuse was reported after the victim was taken to a hospital for genital herpes earlier this month. Later, the victim told a nurse she was molested by a man she knew.

The deaths come a day after the army said one Ottoman Turkish soldier was killed in an attack in the eastern province of Agri.

Following the collapse of a two-year ceasefire in 2015, fighting has intensified between Ottoman Turkish security forces and the PKK in the southeast.

The Ottoman Turkish military regularly conducts air raids against PKK gunnies who have bases in the Qandil mountain area of Iraq.

Ottoman Turkish ground troops also sometimes stage incursions into the area.

Ankara on January 20 launched a cross-border operation in northern Syria against a Syrian Kurdish militia which Ankara says is a "terrorist" offshoot of the PKK.

(FSA) have fully captured the town of Bulbul on Thursday, in the far north of the northern Syrian district of Afrin, after driving the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) out of the area after heavy festivities.

Pictures released by the FSA Lions of Islam show a web of underground tunnels that allegedly reaches all the way into Ottoman Turkish territory. The tunnel system was uncovered after an earlier offensive by the rebel forces in which they captured a strategic YPG hilltop military base overlooking Bulbul town.

Because of the rugged terrain of the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish borderlands, and because of most towns generally lying at the foot of hillsides, the FSA rebels and Ottoman Turkish military forces generally focus on taking hilly territory first, as the surrounding towns generally tend to fall soon afterwards.

The FSA is a foreign-backed and self-professed "moderate" Syrian rebel organization, that has been active in the war since its very beginning. While its importance in the Syrian conflict had been waning to a point of near irrelevance for a long time, the direct involvement of Ottoman Turkish forces as part of "Operation Olive Branch" has seen a resurgence of FSA offensives with backing from Ankara.

According to the Saba News Agency, the Houthi forces fired a Zilzal-1 missile towards the positions of the Saudi-backed fighters in the Ta’iz Governorate, resulting in a direct hit on their defenses.

The Saba News report added that several Saudi-backed fighters were killed after the missile struck their positions.

This latest missile strike comes after the Saudi and UAE-backed forces advanced inside the al-Silo District of Ta’iz on Thursday.

Jordan cuts ties with North Korea ‘in line with the policies of its allies’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US ally Jordan has cut diplomatic ties with North Korea "in line with the policies of its allies", a government source said on Thursday.

The decision comes months after similar moves by Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, who are also key regional allies of the United States.

In November, the US called on all countries to cut off trade and diplomatic ties with North Korea after it carried out a series of weapons test, including intercontinental ballistic missiles that brought the US mainland into range.

The Jordanian government source acknowledged that relations between Pyongyang and Amman were "never very strong" but said ties were cut "in line with the policies of Jordan’s allies".

The decision was ratified by a royal decree, according to the government’s website.

New protests erupt across cities and towns in Iran
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Protests have erupted once again in scores of Iranian cities and towns on Thursday, according to the network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK).

According to the MEK Young people chanted "death to the dictator" and "death to Khamenei" in Isfahan while people gathered in Enghelab (revolution) Square, and Azadi (freedom) square in the western city of Sanandaj and chanted "death to dictator."

Protesters clashed with State Security Forces (SSF) and set an SSF kiosk on fire, the MEK said.

Authorities tried to disrupt the Internet connection in the city but festivities continued. Water cannons to disperse the crowd in Sanandaj.

In Kermanshah a woman reportedly started the protests. "Death to Khamenei" was chanted when plain-clothed security officers began arresting protesters.

’Abdel-Sama surrendered immediately after he was surrounded by the Iraqi security forces.

[SmallWarsJournal] When Senator Chuck Schumer monkey-wrenched efforts to pass a continuing resolution, and pitched the U.S. government into a disruptive shutdown, he – seemingly inadvertently – highlighted how the policy of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) has facilitated political warfare, against the United States, by foreign interests. Although DACA - crafted by the overly-idealistic Obama administration - was probably the work of well-intentioned individuals, it has become a cudgel for non-citizens to wield against American institutions, harming legally present individuals in the process. Ultimately, this political empowerment of illegally present voices leads to an erosion of the United States’ sovereignty by allowing a foreign population to influence the country’s decisions.

Schumer and his ilk, whether they realized it or not, were victims of foreign coercion. In 1938, Austria ceded sovereignty to neighboring Germany, in what was portrayed as a merger of cultures. Foreign voices have argued for a U.S. policy that is similarly capitulatory. For instance, former Mexican president, Vicente Fox, has argued on behalf of DACA beneficiaries remaining in the United States.[i] Even while in office, Fox, according to Jorge Castaneda - his one-time foreign minister - had identified a higher U.S. visa quota for Mexicans and increased transition of undocumented Mexicans already in the United States as core concepts in the U.S. – Mexican bilateral relationship.[ii] (One must wonder if Fox’s foisting of Mexican nationals on the United States represented an implicit admission of failure as a leader.) DACA is consistent with these foreign desires for U.S. policies that will act as safety valves.

The problem of undocumented, illegal immigration is not a new one, nor is Mexico unique in its contribution to this population. However, what Obama did in 2012, by creating DACA (and in 2014 with Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents), was to give a voice, in U.S. politics, to foreign nationals. Despite not being able to vote, these individuals have nonetheless involved themselves in national political campaigns.[iii] These individuals have also taken to the streets, in emotionally charged demonstrations (which have resulted in arrests of participants) and have demanded that lawmakers adjust their positions on immigration.[iv] Even individuals whose DACA status has expired have felt entitled to be publicly vocal in making demands for immigration reform. However, when they have been arrested, their sympathizers seem unable to comprehend why out-of-status malcontents might be subject to law enforcement action.[v] These two currents – participation within the political process and exertion of outside pressure, in the form of populist outbursts – find their confluence in an assault on sovereignty that is directed at influencing / coercing elected officials to account for the voices of those who they were not elected to represent.

The alleged Arclight airstrikes were said to have taken place during an offensive by rebel groups against the Islamic State-affiliated group, known as the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, in the area around the city of Daraa.

Zaman Al Wasl, a pro-rebel outlet, quoted local activists as saying the "Israeli Air Force has been pounding [Islamic State] bastions" during the attack.

Additional Syrian opposition outlets specified that four surface-to-surface missiles were launched at Khalid ibn al-Walid Army positions.

This could not be immediately verified.

The Israeli military does not comment on reports of its alleged activities in Syria.

Israel has maintained a public policy of limited intervention in the Syrian civil war.

The prime minister and senior defense officials have said that the country only takes action in Syria when a "red line" is crossed, generally meaning in retaliation to deliberate or accidental attacks on Israel from southern Syria or when advanced weapons are being transferred to the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group.

There have, however, been reports of additional Israeli actions that do not appear to have been in response to a violated "red line."

Last October, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Israel conducted airstrikes against the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, killing 10 people, including two women believed to be the wives of fighters from the faction.

The Observatory offered no evidence that Israel carried out the strike. It relies on a network of sources inside Syria, and says it determines whose planes carry out raids according to type, location, flight patterns, and munitions used.

Hacking Team Is Still Alive Thanks to a Mysterious Investor From Saudi Arabia
[Motherboard.vice] An investor from Saudi Arabia is apparently behind a company that bought a stake in the controversial spyware vendor.

The 2015 breach of spyware vendor Hacking Team seemed like it should have ended the company. Hacking Team was thoroughly owned, with its once-secret list of customers, internal emails, and spyware source code leaked online for anyone to see. But nearly three years later, the company trudges on, in large part thanks to a cash influx in 2016 from a mysterious investor who had been publicly unknown until now.

The hack hurt the company’s reputation and bottom line: Hacking Team lost customers, was struggling to make new ones, and several key employees left. Three years later—after the appearance of this new investor—the company appears to have stopped the bleeding. The company registered around $1 million in losses in 2015, but bounced back with around $600,000 in profits in 2016.

Motherboard has learned that this apparent recovery is in part thanks to the new investor, who appears to be from Saudi Arabia—and whose lawyer’s name matches that of a prominent Saudi attorney who regularly works for the Saudi Arabian government and facilitates deals between the government and international companies.

Hacking Team sells hacking and surveillance technologies exclusively to government authorities. And it became infamous for selling its wares to authoritarian regimes such as Ethiopia, Sudan, Kazakhstan, and Bahrain, among others.
According to financial records obtained by Motherboard, a company based in Cyprus called Tablem Limited took control of 20 percent of the equity of Hacking Team as of 2016, equivalent to around 44,000 euros (about $55,000) of the company’s total nominal share value, which at the time was 223,572 euros (around $280,000). This investment came a few months after the damaging hack, when the 15-year-old company was hitting rock bottom and its enduring survival seemed unlikely.

WHO IS BEHIND TABLEM LIMITED?

The reason why Saudi investors, and by proxy, the Saudi Arabian government might have still been interested in Hacking Team’s surveillance technology even after the hack can be explained by the geopolitics of the region. The Saudi government is in the middle of a messy transition, and its rulers are worried about terrorism, Iran, and dissidents among their own citizens, giving them plenty of reason to seek surveillance tools.

Ever since the Arab Spring, the country’s ruling class has expanded its crackdown on freedom of expression, according to Amnesty International’s researcher May Romanos.

“What drives this crackdown is fear of dissent, fear of political opponents and fear of freedom of expression,” Romanos told me in a phone call, adding that Amnesty has heard reports of activists having their email accounts hacked.

The head of the Borno state emergency management agency, Ahmed Satomi, said soldiers and civilian militia intercepted two women at Mandarari at about 9:00 pm (2000 GMT) on Wednesday.

"The women detonated their explosives, killing themselves, having realised they had been uncovered," he told AFP.

About 45 minutes earlier, a male suicide bomber scaled a rear fence at the Dalori camp on the outskirts of Maiduguri and went kaboom!. As well as the four who died, 44 were maimed.

Shortly afterwards, a exploding trollop female suicide bomber detonated her explosives outside the camp, killing only herself, said Idris Garga, head of Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the northeast.

Satomi told AFP: "The failed suicide kaboom (at Mandarari) and the one at Dalori IDP camp are clearly the work of Boko Haram.

"They are trying to hit back as a result of the pressure the military has exerted on them in the current military operations against them in Sambisa forest.

"This is why we emphasised the need for people to be vigilant and keep an eye on strange faces coming into their communities as Boko Haram forces of Evil are trying to attack civilian targets in response to the losses they suffer in the hands of the military."

The conflict, which began in 2009, has killed at least 20,000 and left more than 2.6 million others homeless.

New Tool Automatically Finds and Hacks Vulnerable Internet-Connected Devices
[Motherboard] Hacking isn’t always hard. Some lower-tier hackers use programs to automatically churn through breached login details to break into other accounts, and some penetration testing tools are designed to streamline processes so hackers can get to the more interesting stuff as quickly as possible.

Enter AutoSploit, a program which takes that idea of efficient hacking, but severely ramps up the potential for damage by automating pretty much everything, including the process of finding a vulnerable target to attack.

“As the name might suggest AutoSploit attempts to automate the exploitation of remote hosts,” the tool’s Github page reads. Pseudonymous security researcher and AutoSploit creator Vector shared the tool on Twitter on Wednesday.

Germany Sharply Caps Refugee Family Reunions
[AnNahar] Germany's parliament voted after a heated debate Thursday to resume family reunions for temporary refugees from mid-year but sharply restrict the number of relatives arriving at 1,000 a month.

Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere defended the law, which passed by a margin of 376 against 298, as "a compromise between humanity and responsibility... between generosity and realism."

The measure was agreed Tuesday in ongoing coalition talks between Chancellor Angela Merkel

Germany, which has taken in more than a million asylum seekers since 2015, stopped family reunions for such "subsidiary" status refugees in March 2016 to slow the mass influx.

Those with subsidiary status are not considered political or war refugees, but are temporarily spared deportation on safety grounds.

An increasingly heated debate on immigration has pitted left-leaning parties and pro-refugee groups against conservatives and the far-right, anti-Islam Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

AfD politician Christian Wirth argued that refugees should reunite with their families back in their home countries, for example in what he called "protected zones in Syria."

He also charged that "Merkel's 2015 decision to allow German borders to be overrun by a migrant flood... was a flagrant breach of the law" and accused her government and the EU of a plot to replace Europe's population with Arabs and Africans.

The issue of how many subsidiary-status refugees are allowed to bring their spouses or children had become one of the most contentious in the coalition talks.

Merkel's conservatives and the Social Democrats also agreed in principle to cap Germany's total annual intake at about 200,000 asylum seekers a year.

Under the new law, family reunions will remain suspended until the end of July, after which up to 1,000 relatives a month, plus an unknown number of yet to be defined "hardship cases", will be allowed to come to Germany.

The refugee aid group Pro Asyl slammed the law as "absolutely insufficient" and a victory for the "hardliners" in Merkel's Bavarian sister party the CSU.

The Greens party accused the Social Democrats of caving on the issue, while the parliamentary head of the far-left Die Linke party Dietmar Bartsch charged that "this law is arbitrary, morally questionable and inhumane."

The notorious Jungle camp in Calais, once home to some 10,000 people hoping to make it to Britannia, was demolished in 2016, but hundreds of migrants colonists remain in the port city seeking to stow away on England-bound trucks.

A judicial source equated Thursday's unrest with that 2015, when the camp was created.

Those left in the area, most of them young Africans and Afghan men, have been living rough in the woods and clash regularly with police, who clear their encampments and stop them from setting up roadblocks in a bid to slow passing trucks.

Grim living conditions have led to regular confrontations between migrants colonists of different nationalities, and five people were shot in a fight between rival Afghan groups last November.

Charities working with migrants colonists in the area say around 800 are currently living in Calais, while local authorities put the numbers at 550 to 600.

Last month President Emmanuel Macron vowed zero tolerance for camps like the "Jungle" and secured a new border security deal which will see Britannia pay more to stop migrants colonists trying to reach its shores.

Macron has said he wants to step up expulsions of economic migrants colonists while speeding up waiting times for asylum applications -- an approach he touts as mixing "humanity" and "efficiency."

But his tougher line has earned criticism from some of his allies, with his former senior aide Jean Pisano-Ferry among those signing a hard-hitting open letter claiming Macron risked betraying his image as a humanist.

[Telegraph] A 15-year-old gained access to plans for intelligence operations in Afghanistan and Iran by pretending to be the head of the CIA to gain access to his computers, a court has heard.

From the bedroom of the Leicestershire home he shared with his mother, Kane Gamble used “social engineering” – where a person builds up a picture of information and uses it manipulate others into handing over more – to access the personal and work accounts of some of America's most powerful spy chiefs .

The teenager persuaded call handlers at an internet giant that he was John Brennan, the then director of the CIA, to gain access to his computers and an FBI helpdesk that he was Mark Giuliano, then the agency’s Deputy Director, to re-gain access to an intelligence database. He also targeted the US Secretary of Homeland Security and Barack Obama's Director of National Intelligence from his semi-detached council house in Coalville.

Gamble taunted his victims online, released personal information, bombarded them with calls and messages, downloaded pornography onto their computers and took control of their iPads and TV screens, a court heard.

Mr Justice Haddon-Cave noted: “He got these people in his control and played with them in order to make their lives difficult.

John Lloyd-Jones QC, prosecuting, said that Gamble founded Crackas With Attitude (CWA) in 2015, telling a journalist: “It all started by me getting more and more annoyed about how corrupt and cold blooded the US Government are so I decided to do something about it.”

Mr Lloyd-Jones said that it was a common misconception that the group were hackers when in fact they used “social engineering” to gain access to emails, phones, computers and law enforcement portals.

“It involves manipulating people, invariably call centre or help desk staff, into permitting acts or divulging confidential information,” the prosecutor said.

Gamble, who has pleaded guilty to ten offences under the computer misuse act, first targeted Mr Brennan and gained access to his Verizon internet account by pretending first to be employee of the company and then Mr Brennan himself, building up an increasingly detailed picture.

Medical experts for the defence argue that he is on the autism spectrum and at the time of his offending had the mental development of a 12 or 13-year-old.

He has no friends to speak off and is closest to his mother Ann, a cleaner who reportedly won a £1.6million lottery jackpot in 1997 but “lost all the money on doomed property deals”.

William Harbage QC said that after his arrest he told doctors “it was kind of easy” and that he had little consequences of his actions “in his bedroom on the internet thousands of miles away”.

Mr Justice Haddon-Cave will sentence him on a date to be fixed.

On systematic ignorance during Islamic awakening
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Saudi author Mohammed al-Mahmoud said in a tweet that Saudi Islamic scholar Safar al-Hawali said in a lecture that when poisonous gas was used against the Afghans, it cleared like a cloud and the winds then directed it towards the infidels’ path, adding that the wind was the God’s soldier.

Safar al-Hawali was a master of Sahwa (Islamic awakening) as he significantly contributed to establishing it and lecturing about its ideas. I am certain that many people who heard him talk about Afghanistan believed him.

This example and other stories which create faith in myths and legends are what distinguished the Sahwa rhetoric the most during that phase. You can only imagine the extent of ignorance which is actually one of the most important factors that hindered human development in the past three decades.

This ignorance controlled youths back then. Sahwaists, whether they belonged to the Moslem Brüderbund or the Sururi Movement, knew that this was the best way to control people who cannot read and who are not well-educated.

They made them more ignorant, unreasonable and illogical and fought all modern cultural phenomena and philosophy that encourage modern reasonable thinking.

Fall of Sahwa
Therefore, the fall of the so-called Sahwa, its ideology and preachers was inevitable as they destroy reason, oppose development, bet on ignorance and myths and cherish ignorance. They adopted this approach at schools as they controlled their curricula, at media outlets as they terrorized their employees and at mosques and preaching workshops.

They were never ashamed of opposing science, philosophy and logic and slamming those who act upon them. A Salafist once said: He who adopts logic is a non-believer. Those who echo these statements do not know that all the technological products they use today are actually the result of reasonable and logical thought.

I am certain that Sahwa collapsed for logical reasons of which the most important is the rationality that relies on discussions which spread thanks to the telecommunications revolution. Criticism is no longer supervised as thanks to technology, it’s widely shared across the world.

Since man is logical by nature, awareness increased in an almost revolutionary manner - that is when compared with the time when ignorant Sahwa leaders dominated the scene.

If societies have really learnt anything, then going back to this ignorant phase of believing myths will be almost impossible if not totally impossible. This is why I am reassured that the phase of institutionalized and systematic ignorance has become history in our country.

In a joint statement, the delegation stressed that Saudi Arabia and the UAE have no personal interest in Yemen, and that the main objective is the political and social stability of the country. This is why putting a halt to the fighting is important as the current situation is a disservice to the coalition’s mission of liberating Yemen.

They added that the UAE and Saudi Arabia are a united front and have the same goal which is for Yemen to remain a stable, peaceful and legitimate country, able to develop and flourish.

A UAE spokesperson from the delegation said that they will stand with Yemen until it is liberated, and that the nation's interest should come above any parallel differences and festivities that deter everyone from the main goal.

This assessment by the Crown Prince of the Iranian situation seems quite apt as, since the revolution, Iran has adopted a brutal ideology, namely Vilayat-e-Faqih (Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist), which is the legitimate cover for the continuation of the revolution and incitement of problems and terrorism in the region and around the world.

The Guardian Jurist, also known as Supreme Leader, is the ultimate authority in Iran, quite similar to the Papal States of the Middle Ages. The Papal States regarded the leader as God’s representative on Earth. Article five of the Iranian constitution expresses that as long as Imam Mahdi remains in occultation, the absolute guardianship and the leadership of the Ummah in Iran is given to a Jurist who is decent, pious, informed of the demands of the times, brave and qualified for leadership.

Sectarian view
In addition, Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist does not acknowledge nationalism as it has a sectarian view that claims the loyalty of all Shiites of the world to Iran.

The constitution says that the Supreme Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
has the right to rule the "Shiite" nation since the original legitimate leader, i.e. Imam Mahdi, is in occultation. This suggests that the utmost loyalty of every Shiite in the world must be to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Thus, Iran transformed sectarianism into constitutional texts by turning the Shiites of the world into an agenda under the rule of the Guardian Jurist. It turned them into gangs, spy cells, militias and organizations with utmost loyalty to the Guardian Jurist with no account of their nationalism.

Many Shiite militias are operating on the directions of the Guardian Jurist including Hezbollah in Leb, Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, Houthis in Yemen, and sleeper cells in the Gulf States or around the world.

Referring to its close ties with Shiites in Iraq including Sistani and other Iraqi Shiite holy mans who studied in Qum, the Director of the Gulf and Middle East Center of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hamed Reza Daghani, said that the Iranian "soft power" in Iraq was the key factor in achieving Iranian ambitions in Iraq and in the region.

Totalitarian ideology
Therefore, the Crown Prince’s description is profound and precise as the Iranian totalitarian ideology is no different to Nazi Germany or any totalitarian regime embracing expansionism, racism and disregard for all international conventions. Over the past eight decades of its emergence, containment and compromise only resulted in failure in dealing with the totalitarian ideology.

After decades of Saudi, Gulf and international patience, full confrontation is the optimal and final solution for dealing with such a regime, a main supporter of terrorism which continues to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries and to destabilize their peace and security.

Only confrontation can give birth to those who choose to abandon the totalitarian revolutionary ideology and reject revolutionary concepts for the concepts of nationalism, national states, respect for international conventions and refrain from intervening in the internal affairs of other countries.

This is the only way to create a healthy political atmosphere that may contribute to the stability of the region and change its current chaotic reality.

#2  Erdogan is giving him a run for the money - after all, he already staged his own Reichstag fire event (embarrassingly set up fake coup), and has his JOO equivalent to blame everything on (the Kurds), and the Turks have a history fo concentration camps (the genocide of the Armenians), and he has his brownshirts in the equivalent to the MB islamists backing him, and lets not forget the Turks sense of racial superiority, as well as the history of a failed empire (what number Reich would this one be?) which he wishes to restore. He even has his fellow travelers in Iran from whom he got the philosophical underpinnings like Hitler did with Italy's fascists.

All he needs now start taking land from Syria and others as "Lebensraum", while saying Hail Victory to mobs of his true believers at grandiose parades.

Oh, and he needs to shave the corners off his mustache as a final touch.

#1  Probably selectively over Tonopah and Red Flag. Not much anyone other than the military there to notice. Maybe a few jackrabbits, coyotes, and tumbleweeds, but I don't think rely on GPS.

France to finance exports to Iran to sidestep US sanctions
[Ynet] Plan is to offer dedicated, euro-denominated export credits to Iranian buyers of French goods and services and so avoid the extraterritorial reach of US legislation; about 1.5 billion-euros worth of exports waiting, says head of state-owned investment bank Bpifrance.

La Belle France will start offering euro-denominated loans to Iranian buyers of its goods later this year, to help trade flourish outside the reach of US sanctions, the head of state-owned investment bank Bpifrance said.

La Belle France has been looking to boost trade with Iran ever since Gay Paree, Washington and other world powers agreed in 2015 to lift many sanctions on Iran in exchange for controls on its nuclear program.

"We put a lot of preparation into this in 2017 and we keep on working, every single day, on the conditions of our entrance into Iran," said Bpifrance's chief executive Nicolas Dufourcq on Wednesday, referring to these specific loans.

"This is a completely separate flow (of money)," he added. "There is no (US) dollar in this scheme... no one holding a US passport."

There is a pipeline of about 1.5 billion euros in potential contracts from interested French exporters, Dufourcq told politicians earlier on Wednesday.

Bpifrance's export credits could be offered in May or June, he added.

French banks were particularly deterred by a $9 billion US fine on BNP Paribas in 2014 for violating U.S. financial sanctions - even though that was imposed before the nuclear agreement.

European aerospace giant Airbus has complained about the banks' wariness, which has also cast a shadow over deals linked to rival Boeing.

Bprifrance's total export credits jumped to 186 million euros ($231 million) in 2017 from 30 million euros a year earlier. It plans to raise that amount to 400 million euros in 2018.

The bank, which is the driving force behind the current boom in funding for French start-ups, also reached a record 255 million euros in venture capital funding in 2017, up 33 percent from the previous year.

An Israeli settler was indicted on hate crime charges Thursday for a series of attacks on Paleostinians, including attempting to run over a Paleostinian street cleaner with his car late last month.

The five-count indictment against the 25-year-old Beitar Illit resident ‐ identified only as Haim Asher Cohen ‐ included charges for racially-motivated assault, attempted aggravated assault and deliberately damaging Paleostinian property.

The charges surrounding the attempted car attack were not listed as racially motivated, though court filings indicated Cohen was motivated by anti-Arab sentiment. A court spokesperson said racial motivation cannot be appended to serious charges such as aggravated assault charges.

According to the Jerusalem District Attorney, Cohen drove up to a street cleaner and asked him "What’s going on?" in an attempt to identify the man’s nationality.

When the worker responded confusedly, the assailant concluded that the man was of Arab origin. At that point, he backed up his car and then sped toward the Paleostinian.

The worker managed to jump out of the way, but the defendant backed up and tried to hit him a second time, but instead hit a garbage dumpster.

The Paleostinian was not hurt. He filed a complaint with police later in the day and, following a police investigation, Cohen was jugged

the next day.

During his questioning, the suspect confessed to five other unsolved instances of violence and vandalism within a short period of time targeting Paleostinians or their vehicles in Beitar Illit.

According to the indictment, the defendant went to a grocery store in the ultra-Orthodox settlement southwest of Jerusalem. When he overheard a Paleostinian employee speaking in Arabic to a colleague, he rushed at him with his shopping cart, hitting the worker in the back of the leg.

Later that night, the defendant drove to a separate grocery store in the community where he once worked. After parking his car, he identified a vehicle that belonged to a Paleostinian and proceeded to smash its windshield, side mirrors and headlights.

In a separate occasion at the same parking lot, the suspect used a screwdriver to puncture holes in three tires of another vehicle he identified as belonging to a Paleostinian, the indictment said.

The prosecution requested that the defendant be remanded until the end of proceedings against him.

[StrategyPage] It was recently revealed (by commercial satellite photos and other reports) that an April 2016 test of a North Korean Hwasong-12 IRBM (Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile) had not only failed (as was reported soon after the missile launch) but that the missile, still containing much of its liquid fuel, landed in the industrial outskirts of Tokchon, a city of 200,000 people about a hundred kilometers northeast of the capital Pyongyang. The Hwasong-12 was launched from a military base 65 kilometers north of Pyongyang and the missile landed 38 kilometers northeast of the launch site and caused considerable damage on the ground. Any casualties would be considered state secrets in North Korea and it may take a while for the facts to become known.
