The quiet probe into Clinton email investigation could be a landmine for Robert Mueller
Moved to Page 6

[USA Today] WASHINGTON ‐ In early January, news that the Justice Department’s inspector general launched an investigation into the government's disputed handling of the Hillary Clinton email inquiry was quickly overtaken by the chaotic run-up to President Trump’s inauguration.

Nearly a year later, Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s wide-ranging review of the FBI and Justice’s work in the politically-charged Clinton case now looms as a potential landmine for Russia special counsel Robert Mueller.

For months, Horowitz’s investigation ‐ which has amassed interviews with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, former FBI Director James Comey and other key officials ‐ had been grinding on in near anonymity. That is, until earlier this month when the inspector general acknowledged that Mueller was alerted to a cache of text messages exchanged between two FBI officials on his staff that disparaged Trump.

The communications, involving senior counter-intelligence agent Peter Strzok and bureau lawyer Lisa Page, were gathered in the course of Horowitz’s internal review of the Clinton case, which Strzok also helped oversee. Horowitz’s investigation is not examining Mueller’s operation. But the disclosures already have provided a hammer to Trump loyalists who are escalating their criticisms of the legitimacy of the special counsel’s inquiry.

Earlier this month, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein only highlighted the potential gravity of the inspector general's work when they repeatedly urged Republican House committee members during separate hearings to withhold judgment about allegations of bias within the FBI until the internal Justice probe is completed.

Justice officials have indicated that a report is likely in the next few months.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Trump Admin Passes Tough Sanctions Against Iran-Backed Hezbollah
(Legal Insurrection)
President Donald Trump and his administration continues to crack down on Iran, but this time it took aim at terrorist group Hezbollah, which relies on Iran. The sanctions will also try to dim Iran's influence across the Middle East. From the Treasury Department:

"Hizballah is a terrorist organization responsible for the death of hundreds of Americans. It is also Iran's primary proxy used to undermine legitimate Arab governments across the Middle East. The Administration is determined to expose and disrupt Hizballah's networks, including those across the Middle East and West Africa, used to fund their illicit operations," said Secretary of the Treasury Steven T. Mnuchin. "The Treasury Department will continue to sever Hizballah from the international financial system, and we will be relentless in identifying, exposing, and dismantling Hizballah's financial support networks globally."

The department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) named these people and businesses:

Specifically, OFAC designated Lebanon-based Jihad Muhammad Qansu, Ali Muhammad Qansu, Issam Ahmad Saad, and Nabil Mahmoud Assaf, and Iraq-based Abdul Latif Saad and Muhammad Badr-Al-Din for acting for or on behalf of Hizballah member and financier Adham Tabaja or his company, Al-Inmaa Engineering and Contracting. Additionally, OFAC designated Sierra Leone-based Blue Lagoon Group LTD and Kanso Fishing Agency Limited, Ghana-based Star Trade Ghana Limited, Liberia-based Dolphin Trading Company Limited (DTC), Sky Trade Company, and Golden Fish Liberia LTD., and Lebanon-based Golden Fish S.A.L. (Offshore) for being owned or controlled by Ali Muhammad Qansu.

The sanctions mean that "all property and interests in property of these persons subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them."

One official told The Washington Post that these new sanctions will deliver "a blow to the Revolutionary Guard Corps and its elite Quds Force" that "uses Lebanese Hezbollah as really its main means of projecting destabilizing power in conflict zones." Our government estimates that the Iranian regime gives the terrorist group around $700 million a year.

The sanctions hit businesses in Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Liberia, which officials believe "sit at the nexus of Hezbollah's cash flows." For example, the department targeted Ali Muhammad Qansu "for acting on behalf of Adham Tabaja," a member and financier of Hezbollah, along with other members. He owns or controls businesses based in those three African countries

Thank God That Trump Won
h/t Instapundit
Wow, wow, and double wow. Now we are starting to get a look at a conspiracy so immense it can scarcely be believed. The media, the Democrat National Committee, a genuinely brain dead FISA judge, and now the media over and over again are shown to be working night and day to destroy the constitutional system of government.

The media, apparently believing it is above the law (and I guess it is), has been working hand in glove with the HRC campaign to ensure that the GenSec of the Democrat/MSM Party could not lose the election of November 2016. Yet somehow, the GenSec, Madame Mao, Jing Qing (or however the hell it’s spelled) lost to a man who should never in a million years come even close to winning. So now the DNC/MSM coalition has had to go into the highest possible gear to cover up the failed conspiracy against the nation.

Instead of trying to get the big news out, the DNC/MSM apparatus worked like demons to bottle up the news. But now the news is out: The DNC/MSM Gang illegally spied on Trump. They didn’t use a bunch of burglars at the Watergate. They used the courts and they succeeded. They actually used a Russian or Russian friendly ex-spy, gossip, and bought paid for lies to violate the election laws and the civil rights of Americans.

Still, the media tries to make light of it.

Can you in your wildest dreams imagine if the GOP had done that to Mrs. Clinton? Can you imagine the blood in the eyes of the media pooh-bahs if they found the GOP doing exactly what HRC and the media did?

Thank God that Trump won. Otherwise, this deeply disturbing behavior of the DNC/MSM/Deep State/Russia cabal would go utterly unnoticed and we would continue to snooze as the left emasculated the Constitution.

Three cheers for Devin Nunes. And a special prosecutor now, if you please, to go after the people behind the phony dossier and Mr. Steele and the FISA warrant. These are real crimes. Real subversion of the justice system. What Nixon did was a high school boy’s snatching hubcaps by comparison. Will the media ever be held accountable?

Of course not. Not one person has ever been charged or prosecuted for the tens of millions of deaths under Stalin. The left takes care of its own. The right has a conscience. Big difference. But maybe we have a fighter this time.

#1  The right has a conscience

Maybe this why we keep losing.

A rethink may be in order, especially as we approach the time when sheer survival, and not mere disagreement, is at the root of conflict.

#5  DiGenova mentioned a FISA opinion, based upon an NSA audit initiated by ADM Rogers.

Do you supposed the findings of that audit and the FISA determination had anything to do with the forced recusal of the FISA judge???

Yes we dodged a bullet. Taken with her mean spirited attitudes, the weaponized IRS, DoJ, FBI, BLM, etc., and the never ending quest for tax revenue and give away programs to buy votes for illegal aliens, had Shillary been elected, it would have been "bread and circuses" for eight years and the end of the Republic.

I would be willing to state that by year three of a Hillary presidency, we would have suffered either a catastrophic terrorist attack (nuclear) on a major city or/and a major war in which our emasculated military led by Zero sycophants would be thoroughly humiliated and defeated.

After reading things on Rantburg for eight years, it was clear where things were going with the previous administration and what they wanted to do, and how she would have not only continued the programs, but expanded them. We were in deep trouble until DJT came along.

It should be obvious that only deep blue urban areas pay any attention to the MSM. It is also obvious that identity politics only resonates with those same areas, perpetual victims and children of critical theory education.

That should bode well for the GOP but then that party has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory often. I don't know why the MSM or the Dems think they are going to win a tidal wave of disgruntled voters and a landslide majority in Congress.

The memo and continuing investigations and other future disclosures will blow things sky high.

Of course the second Shillary or zero is arrested it will be a political banana republic arrest and not due to malfeasance or traitorous activity

Palestinian killed as Israelis raid Jenin-area village
[Aljazeera] A Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank during a confrontation sparked by the soldiers.

Ahmad Samir Obeid, 19, was shot in the head after the Israeli army raided the village of Wadi Burqin, near the northern town of Jenin on Saturday night.

He was taken to the local hospital, where doctors declared his death a short time later. He is the seventh Palestinian to be killed by Israel this year.

Eight other Palestinians were injured by the Israeli army, who used live ammunition and rubber-coated steel bullets. Local media reported that at least four Palestinians were arrested.

The army was accompanied by bulldozers and drones, and lay siege to several houses in the village, in their continued search for another Palestinian, Ahmad Jarrar.

The 22-year-old Jarrar is wanted by the Israeli army for his alleged role in the killing of a Jewish settler last month. His cousin, who has the same name, was killed on January 18 after a ten-hour military operation by the Israeli army, in what Palestinians believe was a case of mistaken identity.

Residents told local media that soldiers used loudspeakers to call out, "Ahmad Jarrar, turn yourself in or we will demolish the village house by house."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Turkish army suffers deadliest day in Syria's Afrin
[Aljazeera] Turkey says it has suffered its deadliest day yet in northern Syria since launching its offensive against YPG Kurdish fighters there more than two weeks ago.

On Saturday, eight Turkish soldiers were killed, according to a Turkish army statement.

Some died after their tank came under fire from Syrian Kurdish forces.

Turkey wants to push the YPG, which it says are "terrorists", out of Afrin to create a buffer zone along its southern border.

YPG fighters targeted the Turkish army tank in Sheikh Haruz, northeast of Afrin, killing five soldiers. Three other soldiers were killed in fighting elsewhere in Afrin.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim promised to retaliate in a statement on Twitter.

"They will pay for this twice as much. We have given the necessary response instantly, and we continue to do so," Yildirim said.

Immediately after the attack at Sheikh Haruz, an air operation targeting YPG positions and weapon storages in the area was launched, the army said.

Turkey's Operation Olive Branch began on January 20 along with the Free Syrian Army (FSA) to clear armed Kurdish groups and Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) fighters from Afrin in northwestern Syria.

#4  Putin and Erdogan exchanged words for a bit. Then Russia shot down a Turkish jet. Upon which Erdogan stood down. It might take something similar by USAF or USN to send the Turks scurrying back across the border. Whether Trump wants to go that far is an open question. While PYD is ostensibly atheist, the Kurds are probably keeping their fingers crossed that Trump serves as Allah ex machina in delivering them from Erdogan.

At least 2 dead, 70 injured after Amtrak train collides with freight train in South Carolina
[WSB-TV] CAYCE, S.C. - At least 2 people are dead and at least another 70 injured after an Amtrak passenger train collided with a freight train in South Carolina early Sunday morning, officials said.

The two deaths occurred in the Amtrak train, not the freight train, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher confirmed.

Amtrak train No. 91 was carrying 139 passengers and eight crew members when it derailed in Cayce, which is located southwest of the capital city of Columbia.

The accident occurred at 2:35 a.m., the railroad said. Injuries were reported after the lead engine of the Amtrak train derailed, along with some passenger cars, according to the statement.

#8  Sometimes bad people break the locks and switch the track into the spur track, causing a derailment. The signal system is supposed to detect that, and set the signals to red. But if you time it right, or know a little about the signaling system, one can defeat it. Don't dismiss intentional harm just yet.

Vile Sarah Silverman: 'Pro-Life Laws Make Me Want to Eat an Aborted Fetus'
[Victory Girls] Just when you thought Sarah Silverman could not hit a new low-BAM! She proves what a disgusting, vile human being she is. As if this wasn’t enough:

Because "it’s goo" that people are so worried about. This past Thursday, the Lady Parts Justice League, (founded by Daily Show creator Lizz Winstead) held a "telethon," called Life Is a Living Nightmare: A Telethon to Fix It. The fundraiser included abortion charades, an interview with abortionist Willie Parker, and political rants. It was during one of these charades, called "sh*tty law charades", that Silverman proclaimed that a conscience clause law that prevented aborted fetuses from being used in manufactured food products would be something that "would make her want to eat an aborted fetus."

It did not stop there. Another charade sparked yet another rant by Silverman:

Deputy AG Rosenstein may have jumped the shark with threats of GOP Subpoena
[PJ] Highly placed congressional sources are telling Fox News personalities off the record that last month, out of frustration, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein threatened to subpoena the communication records of Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee. If true, the threat could constitute an abuse of power or even obstruction, a Fox News legal analyst says.
Rosenstein is the criminal depicted on the left in the graphic.
On Fox Business' "Making Money" Friday, conservative talk show host David Webb said a "highly placed congressional source" told him that during a January 10, 2018, meeting with FBI Director Christopher Wray, Rosenstein, and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Nunes were in attendance, Rosenstein got so irritated by the requests for outstanding documents that he threatened to subpoena Congress and launch an investigation.

Webb pointed out that investigating Congress is not something the deputy AG can do just because of "the constant requests that he wasn't filling."

Pirro (if you can stand the screaming): ‘Desperate' FBI, DoJ Conspired to Undermine Election to Stop Trump
[Breitbart] During her Saturday opening statement on Fox News Channel’s "Justice," Jeanine Pirro ripped the "desperate" FBI and Department of Justice for conspiring against President Donald Trump in the 2016 election because he would "break the establishment stranglehold on the American people."

"They were so desperate that he not be elected that they misled the most of secret of the United States in order to spy on an opposing political campaign in order to undermine a presidential election," Pirro stated. "Members of the highest echelon in our FBI and Department of Justice conspired to prevent an outsider from breaking the establishment stranglehold on the American people."

"They needed a reason to spy, so they made one up. They used the dossier of lies paid for by a major political party, the Democrat National Committee, and a presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton. They swore to facts they knew were lies to get what they wanted in order to surveil a candidate they could not imagine being president," she added.

[Breitbart] "Watch closely for Barack Obama’s fingerprints," said Rep. Steve King (R-IA) on Saturday, suggesting the recent alleged partisan weaponization of state surveillance powers could be connected to the 44th president. "[Democrats and their allies] will defend Barack Obama at all costs, and they’ll defend Hillary Clinton almost at all costs unless they have to sacrifice her to protect Barack Obama," he added.

King offered his remarks during an interview with Breitbart News’s Deputy Political Editor Amanda House on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Footage of female fighter's mutilated body in Afrin emerges
[RUDAW.NET] A graphic video has emerged on social media appearing to show the mutilated body of a female YPJ fighter, allegedly killed in fighting around the village of Qarnah near Bulbul, north of the city of Afrin.

The conflict monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published two videos of the alleged incident.

The footage, captured on a mobile phone, shows the woman’s body spread out on a concrete floor surrounded by button men in military fatigues. Her bloodstained clothes have been partially removed exposing her breasts and genitals, parts of which appear to have been cut off.

"This is the pigs of the PKK," one of the murderous Moslems is heard saying, referring to an armed Kurdish group active in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
.

The YPJ is an all-women force that fights alongside the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Another fighter calls her body the "spoils" of war, followed by shouts of Allahu Akbar, God is Great in Arabic.

They speak in Syrian Arabic.

Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian militia mutilated the body, according to various sources, including the Kurdish force.

Rudaw cannot independently verify the videos.

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Force, an alliance of Kurdish and Arab forces with male and female units, reported her death without disclosing the circumstances. It identified her as Barin Kobane, whose real name is Amina Omar.

Media linked to the YPG, the People Protection Units, earlier reported she followed in the footsteps of Avesta Khabur, a female fighter who detonated herself against a Ottoman Turkish tank.

The local government of Jazira, one of the cantons of the Syrian Kurdistan where the female fighter is said to come from, condemned the alleged incident, blaming it on "Ottoman Turkish fascist
...anybody not a leftist...
government ... and its mercenaries," calling it an act "beyond imagination."

The Kurdistan National Council, ENKS, a coalition of Kurdish opposition groups who have an uneasy relationship with the YPG, also said their "sources" confirmed the incident, but added that the YPJ fighter was captured alive and later paraded in several villages outside Afrin.

Aldar Khalil, a member of TEV-DEM, the ruling coalition of Syrian Kurdistan, denounced the action in a tweet.

"The immoral acts by the murderous Moslems who paraded the body of the martyr Barin Kobani is not new because these [groups] are mercenaries and are a plague on Syria and the region and represent moral decadence," Khalil said.

Ankara launched Operation Olive Branch on January 20, deploying Ottoman Turkish troops and their allied Syrian militias to clear the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from the northwest Syrian enclave of Afrin.

Ottoman Turkish forces and their proxies took the town of Bulbul, 30km north of Afrin city, close to the border with Turkey, on Thursday, according to Ottoman Turkish media. But Rudaw sources in Afrin reported intensive fighting in the town as of Friday morning.

The SDF confirmed festivities have taken place in the Bulbul area and reported they have destroyed a Ottoman Turkish APC armoured vehicle "and killed everybody inside in an ambush in Qarnah village in Bulbul town."

They also clashed with Ottoman Turkish forces in Sahra village on Thursday afternoon, 2km northwest of Bulbul, where "at least 20 soldiers were killed," the SDF statement claimed.

Accused serial killer's methods eerily match Stephen King story
[NYPost] In Stephen King’s macabre short story "The Lawnmower Man," a sex-crazed landscaper murders and dismembers the suburban homeowner who hires him to cut his overgrown lawn.
Well, they properly spelled Mr. King's name.
The tale ends when detectives arrive and end up trying to gather up the victim’s remains, which are scattered in a backyard birdbath and throughout the expanse of freshly mown grass.

While King’s story is the stuff of fiction, a real-life version seems to be playing amid the manicured lawns and neat flower boxes of Canada’s largest city, where officials are digging for human remains after the arrest of a landscape contractor last month.

Bruce McArthur, 66, was charged in Toronto with the murder of five men. Police say that they may be dealing with a serial killer, and that there may be many more victims.

McArthur, a jovial and portly man who was a fixture in the bars and eateries of Toronto’s Gay Village district, had also played Santa Claus at a suburban mall last Christmas, according to his Facebook page, which was taken down shortly after his arrest last month.

[Dean Lisowick in an undated photo. Bruce McArthur has been charged for his murder.
[Undated photo that looks more like his first booking than AARP ID. I believe the PD may have had some contact with him.
In Toronto, police now believe McArthur’s alleged victims may also include women. He described himself as "sexually versatile" on the SilverDaddies dating site.

On his dating profile, McArthur wrote, "I can be a bit shy until I get to know you, but am a romantic at heart."

His next court appearance is scheduled for Valentine’s Day

Buzz Kill - Book Review
[SmallWarsJournal] From wine swilling Greek hoplites to tweaked out NAZI’s on speed, drugs and alcohol have been the most essential psychological weapons in the history of human warfare, both lowering our resistance to killing and helping us to forget it in the aftermath. But what does our dependence on drugs in wartime say about us? Are we reluctant killers, good at our core, who need to be altered to do the job … or willing, but imperfect killers, constantly seeking the things that will help us do it best?

German mosque must stop broadcasting call to prayer, court finds
[YAHOO] A mosque in northwest Germany may no longer broadcast its Friday midday call to prayer by loudspeaker for now after a local court upheld a challenge by a couple who live nearly 1 km (1,000 yards) away.

The Gelsenkirchen administrative court found that the town of Oer-Erkenschwick had not assessed the local Moslem community's request properly in 2013, but a court front man said on Friday that this did not prevent the mosque making a new application.

The local Christian couple had argued that the call to prayers violated their own religious rights.

Anti-Moslem sentiment and support for anti-immigration policies are growing in many parts of Germany after the influx of well over a million migrants colonists from Iraq, Syria and other mostly Moslem countries, beginning in 2015.

Huseyin Turgut, a bigwig with the affected mosque, said the court's decision was disappointing.

"The call to prayer lasts for two minutes, just around 1 p.m., but only on Fridays," he said. "We've never had any complaints and we have German neighbors who are much closer - just 10 meters away."

and the United Arab Emirates had planned a military invasion of his country at the beginning of a diplomatic crisis that erupted last year when several states cut off diplomatic relations with Doha.

In an interview with The Washington Post on Friday, Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah said Riyadh and Abu Dhabi had "tried everything" to destabilize Qatar, but "we have diffused this intention."

"They have intentions to intervene militarily," said Attiyah.

"They tried to provoke the tribes. They used mosques against us. Then they tried to get some puppets to bring in and replace our leaders," he added.

Attiyah, who traveled to the United States last week and held talks with his US counterpart Jim Mattis, described the beginning of the crisis by the Saudi-led bloc as an "ambush" that was "miscalculated."

Asked about Qatar’s relations with Iran, Attiyah said that Qatar maintained "friendly relations with everyone."

Russia strikes back as Syrian rebels take credit for shooting down fighter jet, killing pilot
[WASHINGTONPOST] Syria’s former al-Qaeda affiliate grabbed credit Saturday for the downing of a Russian warplane in northern Syria, apparently using a surface-to-air missile to target the aircraft.

The pilot was killed after he ejected and exchanged gunfire with bandidos Lions of Islam on the ground, the Russian Defense Ministry and a monitoring group said.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
, or HTS, a powerful rebel alliance that publicly split from al-Qaeda last year, said it had used a shoulder-fired weapon to down the Su-25 fighter jet as it flew low over the opposition-held town of Saraqeb.

That claim was echoed by Russia’s Interfax news agency, quoting the Defense Ministry, as well as the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The incident could raise tensions between Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
, which is monitoring a so-called "de-escalation zone" in the northern province of Idlib as part of an agreement made during Syrian peace talks in the Kazakh capital, Astana.

FISA Court Judge James Boasberg Rules Comey Memos Will Remain Secret…
[ConservativeTreehouse] The media are pointing out that a Federal District Court Judge, has ruled against the release of the memos former FBI Director James Comey wrote to himself while acting head of the FBI. However, one little thing they fail to notice:

WASHINGTON DC ‐ A federal judge has rejected requests from news organizations to release memos of former FBI Director James Comey’s conversations with President Donald Trump, adding that publicizing the documents could harm special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg on Friday sided with the Department of Justice after multiple news organizations, including CNN and USA Today, sued for the public release of Comey’s memos after their Freedom of Information Act requests were denied.

#4  The FISA judges are sort of the dogs that haven't barked yet here. I don't know one end of the FISA court from the other, but if an attorney appeared in any federal district court and pulled this little stunt, and the judge found out, the very best the attorney could hope for would be some choice words from the bench that would scorch the mahogany panelling off the courtroom walls. It is extremely bad professional karma to piss on a federal judge's shoes while solemnly assuring the judge that it is raining. (State court judges too, but that whole life-tenure thing makes a difference.)

So I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the FISA judges talk about this.

Also, it turns out that the FISA court has rules. One of them is Rule 13, which says:

Rule 13. Correction of Misstatement or Omission; Disclosure of Non-Compliance.
(a) Correction ofMaterial Facts. Ifthe government discovers that a submission to the Court contained a misstatement or omission of material fact, the government, in writing, must immediately inform the Judge to whom the submission was made of:
(1) the misstatement or omission;
(2) any necessary correction;
(3) the facts and circumstances relevant to the misstatement or omission;
(4) any modifications the government has made or proposes to make in how it will implement any authority or approval granted by the Court; and
(5) how the government proposes to dispose ofor treat any information obtained as a result ofthe misstatement or omission.
(b) Disclosure ofNon-Compliance. Ifthe government discovers that any authority or approval granted by the Court has been implemented in a manner that did not comply with the Court's authorization or approval or with applicable law, the government, in writing, must immediately inform the Judge to whom the submission was made of:
(1) the non-compliance;
(2) the facts and circumstances relevant to the non-compliance;
(3) any modifications the government has made or proposes to make in how it will implement any authority or approval granted by the Court; and
(4) how the government proposes to dispose of or treat any information obtained as a result ofthe non-compliance.

Maybe someone could argue that no correction is needed because (I assume) the surveillance has stopped, but Rule 13 doesn't say that. So, over to you, AG Sessions. Are you going to correct the record or not?

Pressure rises on Maldives leader to obey court order to free jailed foes

opponents.

Three days after the Supreme Court threw out terrorism convictions against Yameen’s political opponents, his government on Saturday was still ignoring international and domestic pressure to set them free.

The court dismissed cases against nine people, including former president Mohammed Nasheed, the country’s first democratically elected leader, who now lives in exile in Britannia and has been campaigning to have his political rights restored.

One of the others also lives in exile; the other seven are tossed in the calaboose
Please don't kill me!
in the Maldives’ largest prison, on the island of Maafushi.

Hundreds of protesters have taken to the streets to demand compliance with the court order, and Western countries and international organizations have urged Yameen to obey it.

The court also ordered 12 members of parliament who had been stripped of their seats to be restored to the body. The 12 had quit Yameen’s ruling party last year, and allowing them to return to the legislature would deprive him of a majority.

The crisis poses the biggest threat to Yameen’s control of the Maldives since he took power in 2013, defeating Nasheed in an election that Nasheed’s supporters say was rigged.

Chinese boy loses finger, partial eyesight as charging mobile phone explodes
[GEO.TV] A 12-year-old Chinese boy suffered a major injury to his hand and eye when his mobile phone ‐ that was being charged ‐ went kaboom! in his room, British tabloid Daily Mail reported citing Chinese media.

Meng Jisu was about to pick up his phone, which was plugged into the electric socket for charging, when it blew up, ripping away the index finger of his right hand and leaving him blind in his right eye. The plastic shrapnel from the blast hit his face, causing the injury.

The young boy, who was found unconscious and covered in blood by his elder sister, had to undergo a five-hour-long surgery and is still in the hospital, according to Chinese media, which also identified the mobile phone as locally-made Hua Tang VT-V59.

As per the doctors who operated on Jisu ‐ including People's Hospital chief physician Lan Tianbing ‐ the "’shredded’ index finger was not brought along" and that "it was not possible to reattach" it.

"The doctors also carried out skin graft on his right forearm, reattached the blood vessels of his thumb, middle finger and ring finger onto his right hand," Daily Mail wrote.

Jisu would hopefully regain 98 percent use of his maimed hand.

Palestinian teen dies in Israeli West Bank arrest raid
[REUTERS] Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Paleostinian teenager during an arrest raid in the village of Burqin in the occupied West Bank, Paleostinian health officials said on Saturday.

A Rooters witness said about 200 Paleostinians were throwing stones at Israeli military vehicles when a gunshot was heard, adding that a maimed person was then carried to a car.

Israel’s military said its forces had been searching in Burqin for suspects involved in the fatal drive-by shooting of an Israeli rabbi from a nearby settlement on Jan. 9.

A military spokeswoman said rioting had broken out while troops were apprehending several suspects connected with that shooting and troops responded with non-fatal "riot dispersal means" against Paleostinians throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails and then with live gunfire at the main instigators.

The Paleostinian Health Ministry said the teenager killed on Saturday was 19 years old, while the hospital in Jenin where he was taken said he had been shot in the head.

The Israeli military spokeswoman said he had climbed onto a military vehicle and had opened its door before he was shot.

Turkey denies report border guards shot at fleeing Syrians
[REUTERS] Ottoman Turkish guards at the border with Syria are indiscriminately shooting at and summarily returning asylum seekers attempting to cross into The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
, Human Rights Watch said.

A senior Ottoman Turkish government official denied the report on Saturday, repeating that Turkey had taken in 3.5 million war refugees since the Syrian conflict began in 2011.

New York-based Human Rights Watch said Syrians were now fleeing heightened violence in the northwestern province of Idlib to seek refuge near Turkey’s border, which remains closed to all but critical medical cases.

Syrian armed forces have thrust deeper into the mainly rebel-held province in recent months and Turkey last month launched military action in the nearby Afrin region, targeting Kurdish YPG militia fighters.

"Syrians fleeing to the Ottoman Turkish border seeking safety and asylum are being forced back with bullets and abuse," Lama Fakih, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, said.

President Tayyip Erdogan’s front man Ibrahim Kalin, asked about the HRW statement, told news hounds that Ottoman Turkish soldiers were there to protect these people and that Ankara has had an "open-door policy" since the start of Syria’s civil war in 2011.

A senior government official later told Rooters:

"There has been absolutely no case of civilians being fired upon at the border."

German spy chief alleges North Korea uses Berlin embassy for procurement
[REUTERS] North Korea has been using its embassy in Berlin to procure parts for its missile program, the head of Germany’s BfV domestic intelligence agency told a German broadcaster.

No one at the North Korean embassy in Berlin was immediately available to comment on the allegation.

In a program to be aired on NDR television on Monday, BfV head Hans-Georg Maassen said: "We determined that procurement activities have been carried out from there that are, in our view, done with a view to the missile program and sometimes also for the nuclear program."

He said it was often so-called dual use goods, which can be used for both civil and military purposes.

Comments released by NDR ahead of the broadcast showed Maassen said German authorities prevented such activities when they found them but he added: "We can’t guarantee that we can detect and prevent this in all cases."

He said it was necessary to presume that parts for North Korea’s launch program "were acquired via other markets or underground buyers had acquired them in Germany".

North Korea Found to Have Made $200 Million by Dodging UN Sanctions
[BLOOMBERG] North Korea received almost $200 million between January and September 2017 from exports of coal, iron, steel and other commodities banned under UN Security Council resolutions meant to crack down on Pyongyang’s nuclear ambitions, according to a confidential report.

Coal shipments were delivered to China, Malaysia, South Korea, Russia and Vietnam by ships using combination of "deceptive navigation patterns, signals manipulation, transshipment," independent United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
monitors said in the report, which was seen by Bloomberg News.

The report noted that increased sanctions have created lucrative markets for North Korean traders to procure petroleum products and export natural resources, and that more action is needed by countries to stop such oil and coal transfers.

The panel of experts’ report also warned of continuing cooperation on ballistic missile development between North Korea and Myanmar and Syria, which have been providing logistical support, military technicians and intelligence operations and using front companies.

Eight Iraqis were killed in an apparent case of friendly fire in western Anbar province. The majority of the dead are members of Iraqi security forces.

Iraq’s Joint Operations Command stated that their forces were conducting an operation based on "accurate intelligence about the presence of a terrorist leader, Karim Afat Ali al-Samirmd, in one of houses in al-Baghdadi district to meet with a terrorist cell."

5-Year-Old Girl Permanently Disfigured in Voodoo Ritual, Police Say
[TIME] Two women are accused of burning and permanently disfiguring a 5-year-old girl during a voodoo ritual.

Police said the ritual was meant to remove a demon inside the little girl that was causing her to misbehave, the News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported. The little girl’s mother requested the ritual, according to police, and has not been charged but is receiving mental health treatment. The mother is of Haitian descent, according to the report, where religious voodoo has been practiced for centuries.

The two sisters ‐ who said they’ve performed the "cleansing baths" before and that children are sometimes burned as spirits leave their bodies ‐ also threatened to cut off the head of the girl’s 8-year-old brother with a machete, according AP.

The boy said his sister was held down twice as the women blew fire over her face, cut her arm and collarbone area and poured something in her eyes that stung, according to the report.

Iraq
ISIS cell in Halabja area dismantled, militants killed, arrested
[RUDAW.NET] Security operations against an ISIS sleeper cell in Halabja province on the border with Iran are complete, Asayish (security) forces announced in a statement on Friday evening.

All the "terrorists" have been killed and no threat remains from the group, the Asayish stated.

The suspected ISIS group attacked a Kurdish security office in the town of Bamo, in Halabja in January. Kurdish forces repelled the attack but the group remained on the lam.

The same group is believed to have also operated across the border, killing three Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

"We assure everyone that we continue with all our efforts to protect the security of our region and will not let enemies of freedom harm life in Kurdistan," read the Asayish statement.

Most of the members of the group were Kurds, but there some Arabs among them as well.

"A team from Garmiyan Asayish were investigating the ISIS sleeper cell and were able to arrest the terrorist M. M., a Kurd, and his older brother Dilshad Bawanuriyah, who had helped the turbans in Garmiyan," read the statement.

Bamo town, 195 kilometers southeast of Erbil, is just west of the Hamrin mountain range that includes Mount Bamo. Kurdish officials have expressed concern about ISIS Lions of Islam regrouping in Hamrin as the rugged area provides many possible hideouts.

DPRK slams S. Korean conservative media, politicians for calling military parade plan "provocation"
[XINHUANET] The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday slammed some South Korean conservative media and politicians for calling an upcoming military parade here as "provocation."

The official daily Rodong Sinmun published a signed article on the military parade to be held on Feb. 8 in Pyongyang, on the eve of the opening of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea.

The article said that the event will mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Army (KPA), and accused some South Korean conservative media and politicians of twisting facts and making irresponsible comments on their neighbor's important event.

"It is a unique idea of the Korean army and people to celebrate the founding date of the KPA and no one has the right to make irresponsible comments on it," it said.

DPRK used to celebrate the military founding day on April 25, which marked the founding of a guerrilla troop by Kim Il Sung in 1930s to fight the Japanese occupiers.

Less than two weeks ago, the nation declared that Feb. 8 will be marked as the founding anniversary of the KPA and the "Army-Building Day," as DPRK's Founding President Kim Il Sung established the regular revolutionary armed forces on Feb. 8, 1948.

The Israeli air force conducted a covert operation against ISIS (banned in Russia) Lions of Islam on the Sinai Peninsula, which was allegedly sanctioned by the Egypt president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, according to the New York Times, citing seven former and acting UK and US officials.

The report specifies, the operation began late in 2015, after bully boyz captured northern Sinai and blew up a Russian airplane with tourists. Unmarked Israeli UAV, attack helicopters and jet fighters conducted over 100 airstrikes during a 2 year operation, picking routes mimicking the flightpaths of Egyptian air forces.

American sources to the newspaper noted that the airstrikes played a key role in the success of the Egypt forces’ ground operation against murderous Moslems, despite the fact that the Israeli side remained dissatisfied with how it was carried out.

Two Pak-Trained LeT Militants Arrested in Kashmir

...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) murderous Moslems in north Kashmire's Baramulla district, police said on Saturday, 3 February.
The bad boys, who had gone to Pakistain on valid Pak visas for arms training to undertake terrorist activities in the Valley, were arrested during a joint operation by the police, Army and the CRPF, a police front man said.
He said the murderous Moslems had obtained their passports specifically for the said purpose. "These murderous Moslems of Lashkar-e-Taiba were nabbed immediately after returning via the Wagah-Attari border before they could formally join the bad boy ranks here in Kashmire," he said, identifying the arrested as Abdul Majeed Bhat, resident of Kreeri, and Mohammad Ashraf Mir, from Pattan.

Following their arrest, Director General of Jammu and Kashmire Police SP Vaid said:
Our neighboring nation has resorted to allow movement of bandidos Lions of Islam by issuing valid visa to them, as infiltration is now tough after security forces tightened security even more.
Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Kinnison began his slow infiltration of the sewer system...
the duo revealed upon questioning that "they underwent training in Pakistain along with a large number of Pak boys, most of whom were from Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
and as young as 10," the spokesperson said.

"The said terrorist training camps are located near Burma Town, in Islamabad, and being run by a terrorist commander operating under code names Hanzala, Adanan and Omar. Other bandidos Lions of Islam imparting training to young boys are operating with code names Osama, Naveed and Hataf," he said.

The arrested murderous Moslems were given Pak visas by the Pakistain High Commission in New Delhi, the spokesperson said. "It's pertinent to mention that in the past couple of years, police have unearthed several such modules that lure young boys to Pakistain to get trained and join militancy. In the past, several such boys have been arrested, while some of them were killed in encounters," he added.

FSA to form committee over mutilated Kurdish fighter in Afrin
[RUDAW.NET] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
-backed Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
announced on Saturday that they will form a committee regarding the mutilation of a Kurdish female fighter in Afrin to address "these allegations and investigate directly, and with proof."

The FSA statement stressed that they will abide by the principles which they have followed so far and that they consider Kurds as their people.

"We affirm that Free Syrian Army works in the framework of Operation Olive Branch to liberate our Kurdish people and our Syrian land invaded by YPG militia terrorists," said FSA Chief of Staff Salim Idris in a statement. "We will treat captives and fighters of militia murderous Moslems in accordance with our Sharia and religion."

The FSA is a group of proxy fighters in northern Syria who are supported by the Ottoman Turkish military.

Graphic video emerged on social media this week appearing to show the mutilated body of female YPJ fighter Barin Kobane, allegedly killed in fighting around the village of Qarnah near Bulbul, north of the city of Afrin.

The footage, captured on a mobile phone, shows a woman’s body spread out on a concrete floor surrounded by button men in military fatigues. Her bloodstained clothes have been partially removed exposing her breasts and genitals, parts of which appear to have been cut off.

"This is the pigs of the PKK," one of the forces of Evil is heard saying, referring to an armed Kurdish group active in Turkey.

Zeyad Haji Obeid, another FSA official, told Rudaw on Saturday that "neither the FSA nor the Ottoman Turkish army will accept such conduct."

He said it was done "on an individual level and the perpetrator/s will face measures," claiming what was done to Kobane’s body was similar to the conduct of Bashir al-Assad’s regime troops.

A spokesperson for the SDF, Mustafa Bali, told Sky News Arabi on Saturday that "the problem is not whether the fighter is Kurdish or non-Kurdish, the problem is the scenario in general."

But he did confirm that the corpse belongs to a YPJ fighter who was killed along with four other YPJ fighters.

The spokesperson said they reject Islamist ideologies like the Moslem Brüderbund and al-Qaeda in the region.

Regarding the role of women in society, Bali claimed that the Ottoman Turkish proxies believe that women should stay home and take care of the kitchen rather than going to war.

YPJ expressed its concern over "the silent public opinion [who] watched the brutal scenes" of Ottoman Turkish forces and its proxies who "played with the corpse of one of our fighters" in Afrin, according to a statement on Friday night.

The YPJ is an all-female force that fights alongside the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

"Fighting in Bulbul district was the hot spot of festivities between our fighters and the invading forces. As a result of the fierce battles there, four female YPJ fighters raised to the rank of martyrdom after they demonstrated heroic resistance against the invading groups. Their corpses fell into the hands of the invaders who were playing with their bodies," the statement added.

US, Israel, Al Saud will collapse soon: IRGC commander
[PRESSTV] A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the United States, the Israeli regime, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and their allies will collapse soon.

Speaking during a ceremony in the northwestern Iranian city of Urmia, West Azarbaijan province, on Saturday, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the IRGC’s second-in-command, said the Iranian people have always been vigilantly present in all scenes, ISNA reported.

He added that enemies had hatched plots to partition the country with the purpose of undermining the Islamic Theocratic Republic's independence, unity and territorial integrity.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
all the enemies' plots against Iran have so far been thwarted thanks to the nation's bravery and the guidelines of the Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
...the successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and the actual dictator of Iran...
, the IRGC commander said.

"The enemies have so far experienced nothing but defeat at the hands of the Islamic establishment," Salami added.
He said the enemies had been seeking to wage psychological warfare against Iran to undermine the achievements of the Islamic Revolution but such a plot had also been foiled.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Salami praised Iran's great achievements in the sectors of science, technology and military, and said the Islamic Theocratic Republic could compete with the world’s advanced countries in such areas.

Iran protests: IRGC unable to reinstate the atmosphere of repression
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The common denominator for all dictatorships is that a ruling minority maintains its grip on power by controlling all crucial sectors such as territory, wealth, weapons and the media. In Iran, there is another dimension to this reality as the religious dictatorship misuses religion to mobilise its supporter and deceive ordinary citizens.

The regime in Tehran has secured its grip on power through repression, terrorism, persecution, liquidation, intimidation and by hiding demagogic policies behind a moderate mask. Its motto during the last four decades to justify these malignant policies has been "preserve, safeguard and export the Islamic Revolution".

During the recent nationwide uprising, the unprivileged class who lives below the poverty line, whose support the regime had hitherto taken for granted, joined the anti-regime protests. This proves that the theocracy’s hegemony over the society has started crumbling and its bigwigs have been trying desperately ever since to reinstate it.

Desperate times, desperate measures
In this regard, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has pursued the following policies:

• Increase the number of special patrols across the country so that they are seen 24/7 in major cities. According to my sources inside the IRGC, the paramilitary force has established specific headquarters for each city with a large population.

• In order to reinstate the atmosphere of intimidation, both the Intelligence Ministry (MOIS) and the IRGC have tortured a number of nabbed
You have the right to remain silent...
protesters to death.

• In response to nationwide demonstrations, the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei ordered the authorities to increase the military budget by tapping into the country’s currency-reserves. Furthermore, President Rouhani has already increased the military budget by 90 percent in his government’s budget for the coming Persian year.

• Increase pressure on political prisoners, human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
defenders and women’s rights activists.

• Deceiving people with empty promises and propounding failed theories by one of the leaders of the deadwood Green Movement, who suddenly is free to express his opinion after seven years of house arrest.

In fact during the protests, reformists and hard-liners made common cause and united their factions to rescue the regime. It is no secret that both reformists and hard-liners have been responsible for the efforts to crush the opposition in the country, including the 1988 Massacre of political prisoners.

Protests may continue
Notwithstanding these efforts, they will not be able to balance the power in favour of the regime and turn its fortune. Considering the changed balance of power both inside and outside Iran and the worsening of its economic crisis, one should expect the nationwide anti-regime demonstrations to continue beyond the Persia New Year. There are five factors which have brought people to streets.

• Economic Stagnation and youth unemployment
• Deteriorating standard of living
• Lack of civil liberties
• Disastrous environmental policy
• Dissatisfaction over involvement in foreign wars

Rouhani’s government is not only riddled with corruption but it seems also moribund and incapable of finding real solutions to address these problems. Thus, the theocracy’s days are numbered and its downfall inevitable.
Despite the ongoing repression, reports from Iran reveal signs of growing resistance against the regime. According to Radio Free Europe, there were sporadic demonstrations across the country on 30 January.

Iranian activists have also carried on the struggle by writing anti-regime graffiti on the walls and nightly attacks on offices belonging to the IRGC’s Basij-force in small cities.

Women power
In recent days, women have challenged the regime’s compulsory dress-code laws by removing their headscarf in public and wave it like a white flag during the protests. These brave women have given name to a movement spreading all over the country called the ’Girl of Enghelab Street’, nicknamed after the name of the road where the first such protest took place.

What makes this struggle interesting is its leadership. On 27 January 2018, Iran’s state-run website, Jahan News, blamed the women members of Iran’s opposition group, the MEK/PMOI, for organising these protests citing the IRGC’s Deputy for Political Affairs, Gen Rasoul Sanaei-Rad.

"The leaders and those inciting the protests were from the ’Hypocrites’ (regime’s condescending label for Iran’s most organised opposition group, the MEK/PMOI). They had come from other cities so as not to be identified. Those who were detained were from ... the MEK/PMOI ....", he said.

He added, "Eighty percent of those arrested were under 30 years of age. There were several women among them, who are middle-aged. In the 1980s, those who were leading MEK protests were mostly women. And now, the main chain of provocation and those who started the protests were women."

Suicide bomber kills at least 11 soldiers in northern Pakistan
[REUTERS] At least 11 soldiers were killed and 13 maimed on Saturday in a suicide kaboom near an army base in northern Pakistain, officials said, in a region that was once controlled by a local faction of the Taliban

Valley but can cause alarm in a region where Pak Taliban bully boyz took partial control in 2007, before being ousted two years later in a major military operation hailed as an important blow against Islamist violence.

Swat was the first sizeable region outside Pakistain’s lawless tribal regions bordering Afghanistan to fall to the Death Eaters. More than 2,000 Taliban fighters have been driven out of the region, government officials say.

The Pakistain Army’s public relations wing said in a statement that the "suicide attack" in the Swat Valley took place at the "army unit sports area".

"The soldiers were playing volleyball in the evening outside the military base...when a jacket wallah managed to blow himself up," said a security official who asked not to be identified.

The match was also being watched by civilians, and the casualty count could rise as a large number of people had gathered in the area, he said, adding that maimed were being shifted to a nearby military hospital.

The attack was claimed by the Tehrik-e-Taliban, also known as the Pak Taliban, in a statement sent to the media.

"God willing Tehrik-e-Taliban has started the process of Dire Revenge attacks," Taliban front man Mohammad Khurasani said in the statement. "Wait for more (attacks) to follow."

Release of disputed GOP memo on FBI surveillance unleashes waves of recrimination
[WASHINGTONPOST] The four-page memo, written by House Republicans, said its findings "raise concerns with the legitimacy and legality of certain [Justice Department] and FBI interactions with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC)," which authorizes surveillance of individuals believed to be agents of foreign powers. The memo cites "a troubling breakdown of legal processes established to protect the American people from abuses related to the FISA process," a reference to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

The memo alleges that a surveillance warrant was obtained and renewed on a former Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page, with information from an individual with an anti-Trump agenda. And Republicans have charged that the warrant taints the origins of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation into possible coordination between Trump associates and agents of the Russian government during the 2016 campaign.

It is unclear whether Trump will use the memo to fire people involved in the Russia probe, including Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, who oversees it. Asked Friday by a news hound whether he was more likely to fire Rosenstein after the release of the memo and whether he had confidence in him, Trump replied, "You figure that one out."

Democrats warned against any dismissals at the Justice Department, saying such moves would trigger a constitutional crisis.

Matthew Olsen, a former Justice Department official who used to oversee the FISA process, called the memo "a transparently political, amateurish effort" that does not raise meaningful legal questions about the application to surveil Page. "Not only does it not undermine the basis for the surveillance, but it reinforced that there was real merit and foundation for the application, because this application was approved and renewed multiple times," he said.

Yes, very likely as well. DIA had a liaison program like that once. If thru longevity, they somehow climbed into the more senior grades, but were so helpless no one in the Silver Bullet would talk to them, they become candidates for external liaison positions. If they were so helpless as to be an actual embarrassment to the agency, they were shuffled off to internal personnel, VIP visit coordination, or financial roles.

on Friday called on the Sudanese government to withdraw its troops from the Saudi-led aggression coalition and stop fighting the Yemeni people.

The call came in a televised speech aired by the state satellite TV on Friday night.

"I call on the dear Sudanese people to pressure their government into stopping to send its troops to fight the Yemeni people," Sayyed al-Houthi said.

The leader al-Houthi said that the Sudanese people are the dear brothers of the Yemeni people, but blaming the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. for being "greedy for Saudi money."

"But because of the Saudi money, the Sudanese president is sending the Sudanese army as mercenaries to fight the Yemeni people in the interest of the Saudi and UAE regimes," leader al-Houthi said.

He said "the Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

The leader al-Houthi praised the achievements of the Yemeni Army and the Ballistic Missiles Forces for their patriotic role in defending the country against the Saudi-led military aggression.

"If we leave this life to tyrants, who use the force against the peoples, then there will be no more peace in this world," Sayyed Abdul Malik al-Houthi said.

Officials disclosed source's political funding in FISA application: report
The Justice Department may have told a court of the political origins of an opposition research dossier that formed part of the application for a warrant to surveil a former Trump campaign adviser.

The Washington Post reported Friday that Justice Department officials made "ample disclosure of relevant, material facts" to the court that a political entity provided financial backing for the research, though they did not name Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign or the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

That the officials disclosed the political nature of the dossier to the surveillance court upends the central allegation in the memo released Friday by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee.

That memo alleges that FBI and Justice Department officials misused their authority to obtain a surveillance order on Carter Page, a former foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, and presented the dossier as evidence without disclosing that its research had been partially funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC.

Republicans on the Intelligence Committee had argued that the memo shed light on potential abuses by senior Justice Department and FBI officials and showed that the investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 election began with politicized research.

That memo also argues that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court that granted the warrant on Page was left in the dark about the origins of the dossier, which contains salacious allegations against President Trump and his associates.

Intelligence Committee Democrats and the FBI raised concerns about the memo's accuracy before it was released on Friday. They said that it omitted key facts that would have put the information in the proper context.

Democrats have also accused Republicans of using their memo to try to undermine and discredit the special counsel investigation into whether members of Trump's 2016 campaign conspired with Russia to help sway the election.

Democrats on the committee have compiled their own memo rebutting the GOP document. That memo reportedly includes additional information that Democrats say undercuts the conclusions reached by their Republican colleagues, including that the Justice Department disclosed to the court that the dossier's funding source was political in nature.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, pushed back against that assertion in an interview on Fox News Friday night, accusing Democrats of lying about whether the judge who granted the surveillance warrant knew of its origins.

"These guys tell so many lies you can’t keep track of them," Nunes said. "If the court did know that, I think the judge would have to be considered very suspect, but I don’t think that happened at all."

But officials familiar with the matter told the Post that Republicans' allegation that the court was not notified of the funding source was unfounded.

They said it was made clear that the dossier had been compiled "at the behest of people with a partisan aim and that it was being done in opposition to Trump," according to the Post.

#1  Judge Recuses Himself From Michael Flynn Case, But Nobody Knows Why
The judge overseeing the prosecution of former national security adviser Michael Flynn recused himself from the case this week, though the reasons for his decision remain a mystery.

Rudolph Contreras, a judge on the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., recused himself from the Flynn case on Thursday, according to court filings.

Contreras will be replaced by Emmet Sullivan, a Bill Clinton appointee.

Flynn pleaded guilty last Friday to lying in an interview with the FBI about conversations he had last year with Russia’s ambassador, Sergey Kislyak. As part of the plea deal, Flynn agreed to cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s expansive Russia investigation.

A spokeswoman for the court which Contreras oversees declined to offer specifics on his recusal.

#2  Was the judge told that the Steele dossier had providence as firm as the roots of Birnam Wood over coffee or is this documented in a filing? If documented then the donk's no doubt can provide a non-photoshopped official document to back that up? Yeah, about that...

I have never seen so many donks lie so consistently. Do they have to take a test to demonstrate this ability before being accepted into the party?

Nunes: House panel looking at State Dept. involvement in Russia probe
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) revealed Friday that Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee would examine other agencies, including the State Department, after releasing a controversial memo alleging surveillance abuses.

Speaking on Fox News just hours after Republicans on the committee released a memo alleging surveillance abuses by the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ), Nunes said the panel was moving to "phase two" of its investigation.

"We are in the middle of what I call phase two of our investigation, which involves other departments, specifically the State Department and some of the involvement that they had in this," Nunes said.

"That investigation is ongoing and we continue work towards finding answers and asking the right questions to try to get to the bottom of what exactly the State Department was up to in terms of this Russia investigation."

Nunes was asked whether his panel would be releasing additional memos as part of their probe after the White House declassified information to allow the release of a memo alleging that senior FBI and DOJ officials abused their powers to spy on members of President Trump’s campaign.

It’s unclear what role, if any, the State Department played in the law enforcement investigation into whether members of the Trump campaign collaborated with Russia amid Moscow's efforts to sway the 2016 presidential election.

The decision to release the Nunes memo regarding the FBI and DOJ was highly controversial. Republicans on the Intelligence panel argued that it was necessary, because it shed light on the origins of the Russia investigation, as well as potential abuses of power by federal law enforcement officials.

Democrats and the FBI, however, voiced concerns about the memo’s accuracy, contending that Republicans omitted key facts that would have placed the information in the proper context.

The push to release the memo was largely driven by Nunes, who has been accused by Democrats of trying to undermine and discredit special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia's election meddling in order to protect Trump.

#1  The only thing that the dems have is to lay the political witch hunt on the case. If Robert Mueller is discredited by the memo et al, then it just goes to show that the truth will make you free, embarassed by your hubris and stupidity, or will get you playing rock hockey in the Big Arena, depending on what you did.

Al-Shabaab Seizes Crashed Surveillance Drone In Lower Shabelle
[RADIOSHABELLE] al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
has seized a suspected US surveillance drone after it crashed in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region on Friday, February 2.

The unmanned aircraft went down in an area near Awdheegle district which is largely controlled by the Al-Shabaab holy warriors affiliated with Al Qaeda, according to the sources.

It’s not yet clear which country belongs to the crashed drone, but, the U.S. military often uses drones in their campaign against Al-Shabaab in southern Somalia.

Last weekend, the group claimed it has captured a similar drone west of Kismayo

Afghanistan
Islamic State hideout filled with explosives, suicide vests discovered in Kabul
[Chicago Tribune] The discovery of an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
hideout filled with explosives and boom jackets in a poor Kabul neighborhood reflects the failure of Afghanistan's corruption-wracked government to protect the capital, analysts and residents said Friday.

This week's revelation that bully boyz were operating in Kabul's western Qala-e-Wahid district follows a recent series of horrific attacks in the heavily guarded city that killed nearly 200 people and maimed hundreds more, including foreigners.

Security forces were led to the safe house by an murderous Moslem who was captured during an attack Monday by IS bully boyz on a military academy in Kabul in which 11 soldiers died, according to an intelligence official.

From behind the 10-foot green metal doors, the gunnies were plotting to use the explosives, weapons and boom jackets in three more large attacks in Kabul, the official said. He spoke on condition of anonymity in line with his agency's rules and did not elaborate on the plans.

Khan Mohammed, a resident of Qala-e-Wahid, told the AP that locals rarely see a police patrol in the neighborhood and stay at home after dark because of marauding gangs of thieves. They say the government can't provide security.

"It is dangerous for all the people of Qala-e-Wahid that ISIS was here, but they came here because it is an insecure area," Mohammed said, using the Arabic acronym for the Death Eater group.

"For ISIS, this was the perfect area because you can bring everything here from anywhere," added Mohammed, whose home is across the lane from the IS hideout.

Democrats melt down over Nunes memo
[Chicago Tribune] The Democratic Media Complex is once again suffering hysterics, pulling out its hair and screaming over the release of the House Republican report, aka “the memo.”

The memo alleges abuses by top officials of the FBI and the Justice Department in their investigation of President Donald Trump and suspected Russian collusion.

Democrats are furious and say the memo is incomplete, full of lies and half-truths, and they’re busy telling their followers not to read the memo, while heaping hate on one of the authors, House Intelligence Committee chairman U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes.

Democrats, the FBI and the Justice Department argued that the memo should not be made public, because it endangered national security. But after reading it, those claims appear to be nonsense.

Asked about the political hate coming his way, Nunes said, “It’s actually quite enjoyable. You know you’re over the target when you’re being attacked.”

Each side wants to convince Americans that they’re on the side of the angels. But if you look for angels in politics, you are apt to be driven mad.
