Freed hostage Eli Sharabi asks ‘Where was the world?’ during harrowing testimony at UN
[IsraelTimes] Eli Sharabi speaks before the United Nations Security Council in New York, describing the horrors of his 491 days in Hamas captivity before his release last month, telling them how he was abandoned to his fate by international humanitarian organizations.

“Where was the UN? Where was the Red Cross? Where was the world?” Sharabi asks members of the Security Council at a special briefing on the hostage crisis.

“Every day [Hamas] told us: The world has abandoned you, no one is coming,” Sharabi continues.

He describes the psychological and physical torture he endured in Hamas captivity, including being held “50 meters underground” in “chains so tight they ripped my skin.”

According to Sharabi, hostages received “one bath a month” with a bucket of cold water, were fed “a piece of pita, maybe a sip of tea,” at best, and endured brutal beatings and ridicule at the hands of their captors.

He gives firsthand testimony of witnessing Hamas terrorists “eat many meals a day,” from stolen UN aid which they withheld from hostages and civilians.

Sharabi tells the Security Council that just before his release, Hamas terrorists showed him a picture of his older brother, Yossi, laughing as they told him that he had been murdered in captivity. “It was like they brought a massive hammer down on me,” says Sharabi.

Yossi’s body is still being held by Hamas in Gaza.

Holding up a picture of his family members’ graves, Sharabi describes the moment he discovered, after returning to Israel in February, that rather than waiting for him at home, his wife and two daughters had been murdered on October 7.

He recalls the day they were murdered, saying “As they dragged me out, I called out to my girls, I will be back. I had to believe that. But that was the last time I ever saw them. I didn’t know I should have said goodbye, forever.”

“I’m here today because I survived and I prevailed,” says Sharabi, “but that is not enough…not when 59 hostages are still there.”

“I am not a diplomat. I am a survivor,” he tells the UN, after the gruesome account.

“If you stand for humanity, prove it,” he concludes. “Bring them all home.”

Freed hostage Eli Sharabi tells UN Security Council how Hamas steals UN aid to ‘eat like kings’ and starve the hostages

[IsraelTimes] In his address to the United Nations Security Council, Eli Sharabi, a former hostage released by the Hamas terror group in Gaza last month, describes how Hamas terrorists stole UN aid and withheld it from Israeli hostages and Gazan civilians.

“Remember this,” says Sharabi, “Hamas eats like kings, while hostages starve.”

“I know you discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza very often,” Sharabi tells members of the Security Council, who held a meeting on the topic of aid entering Gaza on Tuesday, “but let me tell you as an eyewitness, I saw what happened to that aid: Hamas stole it.”

“I saw Hamas terrorists carrying boxes with the UN and UNWRA emblems on them into the tunnels, dozens and dozens of boxes, paid for by your government,” Sharabi continues.

“They would eat many meals a day from the UN aid in front of us, and we never received any of it,” continues Sharabi.

He calls for the UN to work tirelessly for the remaining 59 hostages in Gaza, who are being “chained, starved, beaten, and humiliated” in captivity.

“No more excuses, no more delays,” says Sharabi. “Bring them all home.”

IDF arrests nine Palestinians in West Bank raid
[IsraelTimes] Israeli security forces arrest nine suspects in the West Bank village of Husan, west of Bethlehem, after they threw stones at Israeli vehicles on civilian roads, the IDF says.

According to the IDF, the arrests take place as part of a broader counterterrorism effort across the West Bank, with security forces arresting 70 wanted individuals and seizing multiple weapons over the past week.

The IDF emphasizes that security forces will continue working to prevent attacks on Israeli civilians and security personnel.

Report: Egyptian president says he is willing to temporarily relocate half a million Gazans to Sinai
[IsraelTimes] The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reports that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi informed other Arab leaders that he is willing to temporarily relocate half a million residents from Gaza to a designated city in the northern Sinai as part of the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

This step would require opening the border crossings between Sinai and Gaza for those who wish to leave.

According to the report, these statements were made during meetings held by Arab leaders in recent weeks in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

There is no confirmation of this report from any other source.

Ra’am party leader presents Herzog with plan to end Gaza war, free hostages
[IsraelTimes] Ra’am chair Mansour Abbas
...political head of the political arm of the Southern Branch of the Islamic Movement, the Muslim Brotherhood in Israel. Like Muslim Brotherhood parties elsewhere, they will ride the train down the iron rails of democratic politics and charity until the train reaches their station at the formation of the Caliphate, avoiding as much as possible all that messy bloodshed until afterward. It’s also important to check his public statements against what he says in private in Arabic, just in case taqqiya is involved...
presents to President Isaac Herzog his “Bridges of Reconciliation and Peace Initiative” for ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of all remaining hostages.

“This is the way to end the conflict and stop the bloodshed between the two peoples,” Abbas tweets after his meeting at the President’s Residence.

“This is a realistic, value-based path of mutual recognition of each side’s rights to self-determination, to live in security and peace in partnership and tolerance and with regional peace, together with bilateral Israeli-Palestinian peace and reconciliation,” adds the chair of the Islamist faction, which has long sought to build bridges between Jewish and Arab societies.

Abbas does not go into further detail about the plan, but earlier this month, he called on Arab leaders to adopt it ahead of their summit in Cairo where they adopted Egypt’s plan for the post-war management of Gaza. He has also presented the plan — which is based on a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict — to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

New York court convicts two of plotting to assassinate Iranian-American journalist
[IsraelTimes] Two purported mobsters have been convicted of plotting to assassinate Iranian American journalist Masih Alinejad at her home in New York City in a murder-for-hire scheme that prosecutors say was financed by Iran’s government.

The verdict was returned at a federal court in New York yesterday, ending a two-week trial that featured dramatic testimony from a hired gunman and Alinejad, an author, activist and contributor to Voice of America.

Alinejad, who was not in court, tells The Associated Press she cried when she learned of the verdict.

“I am relieved that after nearly three years, the men who plotted to kill me have been found guilty. But make no mistake, the real masterminds of this crime are still in power in Iran,” she says. “Right now I am bombarded with emotions. I have cried. I have laughed. I have even danced.”

Alinejad calls the verdict “a powerful gift from the American government” to the people of Iran because it shows that justice is beginning to be served.

Acting US Attorney Matthew Podolsky says in a statement that the verdicts send a message that “if you target US citizens, we will find you, no matter where you are, and bring you to justice.”

Leslie R. Backschies, who heads the FBI’s New York office, says the verdicts show that the “Iranian government’s shameless conduct and attempt to violate our laws and assassinate a critic of their human rights atrocities will not be tolerated.”

IDF strikes Hezbollah facilities in eastern Lebanon amid ceasefire
[IsraelTimes] Military says targets include site for storing rocket launchers, underground infrastructure; no casualties reported

The Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday said it carried out Arclight airstrike

...The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
’s eastern Bekaa Valley, after identifying activity by the terror group there amid the ongoing ceasefire.

One site included underground infrastructure, and another was used to store rocket launchers, according to the military.

Lebanese state media on Thursday reported Israeli strikes on the country’s south and east.

The state-run National News Agency said "enemy aircraft" struck "the eastern slopes of the mountain range within the town of Janta in the Bekaa," as well as "the outskirts of the town of Taraya, west of Baalbek," also in the east.

Four missiles were fired in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon, NNA said.

No casualties were immediately reported.

A November 27, 2024, truce in Lebanon largely halted more than a year of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel.

Israel has continued to carry out strikes on Lebanese territory since the truce agreement took effect, saying it is acting against Hezbollah violations of the ceasefire.

Last month, Israel withdrew all its forces from southern Lebanon, except from five strategic points, saying it had received a green light from the US to remain at those posts and citing the need to prevent Hezbollah from returning to the area and threatening Israel.

The ceasefire also required Hezbollah to pull back north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the border, and to dismantle any remaining military infrastructure in the south.

Levin: Chief Justice Roberts' Job Is to Defend the Constitution, Not to Protect Rogue Judges
[MRCtv] “You’re wrong, Hugh,” Constitutional Scholar Levin counseled fellow conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt Wednesday after Hewitt defended Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts issuance of a public statement condemning the use of impeachment to oust radical, activist lower-court judges.

After President Donald Trump posted a call for the impeachment of activist judges seeking to usurp and deny his executive authority granted by the Constitution, Chief Justice issued a rare public statement, declaring that “impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision.” Roberts’ statement ignored concerns of judicial overreach and the breach of separation of powers, reframing the issue as one of mere “disagreement.”

In his social media post defending Roberts’ injection of himself into matters of the Legislative Branch, Hewitt made six basic arguments:

  • Chief Justice Roberts’ job is to defend judges

  • Roberts will do the right thing, in the end.

  • Roberts would be derelict if he didn’t respond to Trump’s comment.

  • Impeachment is weaponization of power and will probably be waged against Trump a third time.

  • House Republicans should reject the impeachment option as being “non-justiciable” and should rely on the D.C. District Court for relief.

  • Being wrong on the law isn’t an impeachable offense.

Levin responded with six observations about the role of Chief Justice Roberts and judges, in general:

  • Hewitt should defend the Constitution, not the ruling class.

  • It’s Roberts’ job to defend the Constitution, not to pontificate about matters that are not before him.

  • Radical judges are “systematically attacking the constitutional power of the executive branch with nationwide orders, radical political and policy rulings, and picking to pieces the authority granted a president.”

  • Remaining silent about the judges’ misdeeds is “exactly the wrong response” – rogue judges need to be publicly condemned, because “separation of powers is the heart of our system.”

  • Roberts can, and should. act to end the judicial overreach, rather than lecture the elected representatives who are trying to stop it.

  • If Roberts does, ultimately, do the right thing in the matter, it’ll be because Americans forcefully spoke out against the judicial tyranny and demanded he do so – not because Hewitt defended him.

I wish people would stop doing this for anything that matters, like "How much insulin should I take?" ChatGPT is a chatbot. Its skill is predicting the next word in a sentence, something it does quite well. But it is *not* a database, or information storage/retrieval system. It only knows about the word patterns it has been trained on. Train it on garbage, ChatGPT will happily spit out garbage. They are just words.

Ho-Lee-Smokes: Trump Scores YUGE Victory Over Lawfare Firm
[HotAir] This is incredible. Not only did President Trump just manage to compel an elite law firm to admit wrongdoing by its former partner, Mark Pomerantz—the architect of NY’s lawfare against him—but he also secured $40 million in free legal work for causes of his choosing.

Trump was way too kind.

Recall, dear Reader, that in 2023 Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg brought felony charges of falsifying business records against former President Trump for payments his lawyer, Michael Cohen made five years earlier to Stormy Daniels, then billed back to a Trump trust.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Announces Seizure of More Than 45,000 Pounds of Illegal Drugs: 'Unprecedented Seizure' (Video)
[GatewayPundit] The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, announced a major seizure of drugs.

On Thursday morning, Noem announced that the U.S. Coast Guard offloaded more than 45,000 pounds of illegal drugs valued at over $500 million at Port Everglades in Florida.

According to Noem, the crews of U.S. Coast Guard cutters Stone and Mohawk seized the drugs in 14 interdictions in the eastern Pacific Ocean.

Noem said during remarks to reporters, “In the first 100 days of President Trump’s administration, he has already delivered on his campaign promises of making America safe again and to help the American people to be more secure as well.”

“And today we’re here to recognize and witness another milestone in his mission to protect our borders, to protect our communities, and to stop the flow of illicit drugs and trafficking into the United States of America.”

“Today is a historic day. Here at Port Everglades, over 22.5 tons, or 45,000 pounds of cocaine and 50 pounds of marijuana, are valued at over a half a billion dollars, are going to be offloaded and taken out of circulation.”

“This is an unprecedented seizure of illicit drugs that is the result of 14 different interdictions of drug smuggling vessels off the coasts of Mexico, Central, and South America,
…that seems a bit far from guarding the American coast, but it touches the other side of the same ocean that touches our coast…
by the crews of the Coast Guard Cutter Stone and Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk. They’ve done incredible work here with their crews to remove these drugs out of the system so they can be destroyed.”

“These efforts were coordinated with the helicopter tactical squadron aircrews that you see with us today as well as Tactical Team Pacific, law enforcement detachments that were involved, and partner agencies that are operating in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.”

“The brave men and women of the Coast Guard do work every single day 24/7 and they do it with excellence. Their dedication, their resilience, and their patriotism is something that we all can admire, and does not go unnoticed.”

“Their core mission is simple, but it’s incredibly crucial. It’s to secure our territorial waters and to safeguard our nation from those who seek to do us harm. Their mission directly aligns with President Trump’s vision to make America safe and strong again. And thanks to the Coast Guard’s relentless maritime security and their interdiction efforts, $517M worth of illegal drugs will never reach American communities here by what you see here today as a result of these weeks of work.”

Chief Justice John Roberts Caught in Secretive, Invite-Only Club of Elite Judges and Lawyers That Includes James Boasberg, Beryl Howell, Amit Mehta and Ketanji Brown Jackson
[GatewayPundit] Investigative journalist Bad Kitty Unleashed reported on Thursday that Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is involved in a secretive, invite-only club for elite judges in Washington, DC.

The secretive club America Inns of Court also includes the radical America-hating judges James Boasberg, Beryl Howell, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Amit Mehta—all hard-left judges and Trump-haters.

John Roberts has been Chief Justice of the Supreme Court since September 2005. What in the world is he doing fraternizing in a secret group with far-left colleagues?

This is a shocking development.

The Supreme Court Chief Justice is holding secretive meetings with far-left district judges who are running a judicial coup on the current President of the United States! This is a huge development.

Just think, two days ago, on Tuesday, Chief Justice Roberts released a statement attacking President Donald Trump for calling on these same crooked District judges to be impeached!

And now we have evidence that John Roberts was in a secret group with these same judges!

So who all is linked to this selective and secretive club? And recall all of their negative Trump rulings?

– Judge James Boasberg (President)
– Scotus Ketanji Brown Jackson (Vice President)
– Judge Amit Mehta (Secretary and a meeting held at her court.)
– Judge Beryl Howell
Justice (Professionalism Award)
-Justice John Roberts (Honorary Bencher of the Middle Temple)

The list includes some of the most soulless and vicious judges in DC District Court.

Wasn’t it something else that Judge John Roberts broke ethical conduct and stuck up for his, “brother Boasberg”?

George Soros has funded a fellowship at Middle Temple where John Roberts is a master of the bench.

First let me very quickly explain how this secret society called, the American Inns of Court came about. In the UK, they have the four Inns of Court that dates back hundreds of years. One of those is called Middle Temple (see Roberts photo). Well, the US created the American version of this in recent decades. There’s a massive list of branches.

The branch many of our judges belong to is The Edward Bennett Williams (EBW) Inn of Court. It’s so secretive, they deleted most signs of this branch from their website although they still met.

Germany confiscates tanker belonging to Russian 'shadow fleet' - report
[Jpost] The aging tanker, which had been traveling from Russia to Egypt, also sparked environmental concerns over a potential oil spill.

Germany has confiscated a decrepit tanker found adrift off its northern coast in January that is believed to be part of a shadow fleet used by Russia to circumvent oil sanctions, the Spiegel news magazine reported on Friday, citing security sources.

The Panama-flagged ship, called Eventin, was secured by German maritime authorities after being found off the Baltic Sea island of Ruegen, prompting Berlin to sharply rebuke Moscow.

Spiegel reported that a confiscation order had been issued for the tanker, meaning the vessel and its cargo of around 100,000 metric tons of oil, worth some 40 million euros ($43.33 million), now become German property.

PLACING PRESSURE ON RUSSIA'S 'SHADOW FLEET'
Eventin was included in the European Union's 16th package of sanctions targeting Russia for its February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

The package aimed to put extra pressure on Russia's 'shadow fleet,' referring to vessels used by Russia to move oil, arms, and grains around in violation of sanctions. The vessels are not regulated or insured by conventional Western providers.

'Independent' Anti-Russia Outlet Meduza Faces Collapse After US Funding Slashed
[ZeroHedge] After fervently denying that they relied on financial support from the US government, the supposedly “independent” Russian language paper Meduza has been thrown into existential crisis following the Trump administration’s pause on foreign development assistance.

Alexey Kovalev, a self-described “Russian journalist currently living in exile for fear of persecution back home,” had spent much of his career at Meduza, the leading opposition media outlet in Russia. Since leaving the paper under mysterious circumstances in the summer of 2023 and relocating to London, Kovalev has split time writing commentaries for Foreign Policy and attacking reporters at The Grayzone, whom he has falsely painted as Russian assets, while calling for their imprisonment.

Nearly every word Kovalev wrote was false; The Grayzone has no financial or political relationship with the Russian government, and none of its reporters have received favors from Polyansky or any other Russian official.

Now that the self-exiled troll’s former employers at Meduza have been plunged into a financial crisis by the Trump administration’s pause on foreign development assistance, Kovalev’s smears of The Grayzone have been exposed as an exceedingly embarrassing exercise in projection.

As The New York Times reported this February 26, grants from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) reportedly accounted for 15% of the outlet’s budget. So while The Grayzone accepts no foreign state support, it turns out that Meduza can not survive for a day without a constant cash infusion from its government sponsors in Washington.

Meduza’s covert US funding was revealed in a New York Times article lamenting the Trump administration’s dramatic cuts in funding for various US-financed destabilization and regime change programs across the world. According to the Times, the cuts to USAID could potentially damage Meduza’s operations more than “cyberattacks, legal threats and even poisonings of its reporters.”

The outlet went on to note that while a handful of other Western countries like Germany and Norway “contribute to independent media,” their share is “tiny in comparison with American funding.” Simultaneously, “many traditional media supporters” – including the CIA-connected Ford Foundation, and George Soros’ Open Society Foundations, a “giant grant maker” – have “abandoned much of [their] media funding.” A Columbia University lecturer complained the Trump administration’s aid pause was “really a blood bath.”

While a 2021 investigation by The Grayzone’s Max Blumenthal revealed several grants and pledges of assistance from NATO states to Meduza, the outlet’s leadership fervently denied any suggestion of foreign sponsorship. The new revelations by the Times reveal Russia’s top opposition outlet as anything but the “independent” paper they marketed to the public.

LEAKED UK FILES SUGGEST MEDUZA’S ROLE AS NATO STATE-BACKED PROJECT
Rumors about Meduza’s Western funding have swirled since its creation in October 2014, after its founder, Galina Timchenko, was fired from one of Russia’s most popular news portals for publishing an interview with the leader of Western-backed Ukrainian fascist paramilitary group, Right Sector. That same month, Meduza cofounder Ivan Kolpakov flatly refused to reveal the outlet’s funding sources in discussions with Western media:

“I can’t tell you whether those financing the Meduza Project are Russian or foreign. There’s a huge discussion about our investors among Russian journalists, with some saying we have to tell people who they are. Yes, in a fairer world we probably should, but not in Russia in 2014. We have to protect our product and we have to protect our investors.”

A leak of sensitive British Foreign Office files obtained by The Grayzone in early 2021 contained clear indications that the outlet was funded by Western governments. The documents named Meduza as one of the “specific outlets” whose “viability… as long term partners” was being assessed as part of a broader clandestine effort by London to “weaken the Russian state’s influence.” Several veteran-run contractors charged with achieving this goal named the publication as an ideal conduit for anti-Kremlin propaganda.

Chief among these shady groups was a psyop specialist firm called the Zinc Network. In confidential submissions to the British government, Zinc noted that it was “delivering audience segmentation and targeting support” to both Meduza and MediaZona, another supposedly independent outlet launched by US-funded anti-Putin provocateurs Pussy Riot. Zinc stated, “the outlets lack the expertise and tools to understand their audience profiles or consumption habits, and to therefore promote content effectively to new audiences.”

DHS Sec. Kristi Noem on String of Swattings: We Will 'Hunt These Cowards Down'
[Breitbart] Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is vowing to take action and “hunt down” the “cowards” who have been swatting conservative commentators and journalists.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, we will not sit idly by as conservative new media and their families are being targeted by false swatting,” Noem said in an update on X, explaining that DHS has “the ability to trace phone numbers and track location information.”

“We will use it to hunt these cowards down,” she vowed. “This is an attack on our law enforcement and innocent families and we will prosecute it as such.”

DHS’s official X account followed up, repeating those warnings.

The warning follows over a week of what appear to be consistent swatting incidents against conservative personalities, commentators, and journalists. “Swatting” refers to an anonymous attacker calling for emergency services for an individual under false pretenses. Many times, these individuals claim that a violent crime has taken place or is about to, drawing emergency services to that location. The individuals at the location described by the anonymous caller are caught by surprise when emergency responders arrive.

As Breitbart News has extensively reported, over a dozen individuals in the conservative political movement and media have reported swatting attempts against them in just a little over a week:

The string of swatting incidents seemingly began on the evening of March 11, with InfoWars reporter Chase Geiser revealing in an early morning March 12 X post that six to eight “police officers used a PA system to call me by name and order me to walk out of my house.”

“I was handcuffed in the middle of the street, presumably at gunpoint, though I couldn’t tell because of the light being shined on my face,” Geiser recalled. “I was then led into the house where my wife was woken up and we were informed that they received a call from someone pretending to be me and threatening to kill my family.”

The following night, independent journalist Nick Sortor announced his family was swatted after his sister received a menacing email.

Others who reported being targets of swatting include conservative commentator Gunther Eagleman, conservative radio talk show host Joe Pagliarulo, conservative commentator Shawn Farash, conservative writer Mike Engleman, and more.

Musk summoned to Pentagon for mystery meeting on military plans as Trump issues denial about 'war with China'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Elon Musk has been summoned to the Pentagon for a top secret military briefing about potential war plans with China, sparking speculation about the growing power and access of the nation's 'First Buddy'.

Donald Trump disputed claims by the 'fake news' that Musk was being allowed a glimpse at plans for a hypothetical war with China, but the exact nature of Musk's visit was unclear.

Both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal cited two U.S. officials who said that Musk was getting a look at 'top secret' war plans if America and China came into conflict.

Musk will allegedly be briefed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and two other key officials on the details, which WSJ said included 'maritime tactics and targeting plans.'

The briefing for the China war plan has about 20 to 30 slides that lay out how the United States would fight such a conflict, the Times reported.

They hypothesized that Musk - who has long had friendly relations with China - could need to know what the Pentagon was budgeting as his Department of Government Efficiency looks to trim government waste.

Trump led a chorus of administration voices in denying the 'Fake News' of 'the failing New York Times' report in a post to Truth Social.

'They said, incorrectly, that Elon Musk is going to the Pentagon tomorrow to be briefed on any potential 'war with China.' How ridiculous?' China will not even be mentioned or discussed. How disgraceful it is that the discredited media can make up such lies. Anyway, the story is completely untrue!!!'

Hegseth also denied it in a post to X, saying: 'We look forward to welcoming @elonmusk to the Pentagon tomorrow. But the fake news delivers again — this is NOT a meeting about 'top secret China war plans.'

The Pentagon head added that instead, they would be discussing 'innovation, efficiencies & smarter production.'

They confirmed that Musk will be visiting on Friday but did not share further details.

A senior defense official told reporters Tuesday that roughly 50,000 to 60,000 civilian jobs will be cut in the Defense Department .

Trump officially signed an executive order to heavily downsize the Department of Education Thursday.

Similar closures served as a precursor to shuttering the headquarters of the US Agency for International Development, the humanitarian aid agency, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which protects Americans against unscrupulous lenders.

So far, DOGE has cut more than 100,000 jobs across the 2.3 million-member federal civilian bureaucracy, frozen most foreign aid and canceled thousands of programs and contracts, despite dozens of lawsuits challenging the legality of those moves.

London's Heathrow Airport closed all day Friday after fire causes power outage
[FoxBusinessNews] One of the busiest airports in the world will be closed all day Friday after a fire caused a "significant" power outage.

London Heathrow Airport (LHR) said it is "experiencing a significant power outage across the airport due to a large fire at a nearby electrical substation."

"Whilst fire crews are responding to the incident, we do not have clarity on when power may be reliably restored. To maintain the safety of our passengers and colleagues, we made the decision to close Heathrow until 23h59 on 21 March 2025," a spokesperson for the airport told Fox News.

"We expect significant disruption over the coming days and passengers should not travel to the airport under any circumstances until the airport reopens," the spokesperson added. "We will provide an update when more information on the resumption of operations is available. We know this will be disappointing for passengers and we want to reassure that we are working as hard as possible to resolve the situation."

The airport was anticipating up to 291,000 passengers on a total of 1,351 flights on Friday, Reuters reported.

The London Fire Brigade said approximately 70 firefighters and 10 engines responded to the fire just before midnight on Thursday at the electrical substation on Nestles Avenue in Hayes.

"This was a very visible and significant incident, and our firefighters worked tirelessly in challenging conditions to bring the fire under control as swiftly as possible," Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne said in a statement, adding that the fire was under control by 6:30 a.m.

Though there were no injuries, the brigade said 29 people were evacuated from neighboring properties and 150 others were evacuated from a 200-meter perimeter that was established out of precaution.

"The fire has caused a widespread power outage, affecting many homes, local businesses, and Heathrow Airport. While power has been restored to some properties, we continue to work closely with our partners to minimize disruption," Goulbourne said.

The fire brigade will remain at the scene throughout the day to assist the National Grid, which owns the high-voltage electricity transmission network in England and Wales.

FEMA Fraud: 20 Times More Applicants than Homes in Los Angeles Fires
[Breitbart] The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has received 270,000 applications from purported homeowners in the recent L.A. fires — though only abut 13,000 homes were destroyed.

A FEMA official gave the staggering figure — more than twenty times the number of eligible applicants — as concerns about fraudulent applications continue to plague the agency, more than two months after the fire.

As Breitbart News has reported, many displaced residents had tried applying for FEMA relief, only to find that someone else had already applied in their name and with their address, locking them out of the system.

FEMA attempts to make relief funds easy to apply for, but the downside is that fraudsters can more easily take advantage of the system. A FEMA official said that problem was a major reason for closing applications at the end of the month, instead of extending them for a full year, as Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) requested.

Identity theft in natural disasters may seem shocking, but it is not uncommon — especially when maps of affected areas and addresses are easily available online. Several individuals have already been arrested for fraud in connection with FEMA grants in the L.A. fires — one of whom is suspected of having collected on similar fraudulent applications for two decades, going back to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005.

Newly-installed Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman had warned in January that fraudsters would descend on L.A. Victims have been asked to contact the FBI, at 1-800-CALL-FBI/.

Polish General Talks About Preparations for Multi-Option Operation in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Europe is working on many options for an international operation in Ukraine. This was stated on March 20 by the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Wieslaw Kukula.

“A multi-variant operation is being prepared, which largely depends on how the peace talks proceed,” the RAR agency quoted him as saying.

He added that the operation is still in the early stages of planning, and the participants prefer not to disclose the details of the agreements.

Regarding Warsaw's participation in the peacekeeping mission, Kukula stressed that the country does not intend to involve its military. However, according to him, it is impossible to completely avoid participation in the operation due to the common border.

There is a convenient network of roads from Poland to Ukraine, the general recalled. The country's participation may affect the sphere related to the basing of troops to ensure Ukraine's security guarantees, and logistical support, he added.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, in February, the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that Ukraine would need at least 200 thousand peacekeepers to ensure the country’s security after the end of the military conflict with Russia.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Britain and France want to send 30,000 "peacekeepers" to Ukraine if the parties to the conflict reach a peace agreement. At the same time, EU officials acknowledged that without US assistance, such a plan would face a "thorny path."

On March 15, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Western countries were moving on to discussing the “ operational details” of sending troops to Ukraine. He added that he considered it important for these “peacekeepers” to receive security guarantees from the United States and noted that he was negotiating with Washington on the issue on a daily basis.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had previously stated that Russia would under no circumstances accept the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine as "peacekeepers." The diplomat stressed that if NATO troops under any flag were allowed to be stationed in the remaining territories of Ukraine, they would be defending the Nazi regime there.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Break Through Border in Belgorod Region - Social Media
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] Ukrainian Armed Forces units break through border with Belgorod region using armored vehicles and drones.

Russian troops are forced to retreat under heavy fire from Ukrainian forces. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to gain a foothold in a populated area in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation, Russian war correspondents write.

Defense forces have probably entered the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation and have established themselves at the outskirts of the village of Demidovka. This was reported by Russian TG channels on Thursday, March 20.

Ukrainian military has broken through the enemy's defenses. It is indicated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces units are using armored vehicles, artillery and drones to consolidate their positions.

The Russian side acknowledges fierce fighting, losses and the retreat of individual units. According to their reports, Ukrainian forces have already occupied half of the village and continue to bring in additional reserves.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have broken through to Demidovka, fighting is underway. Ukrainian units entered with a fight... The enemy used infantry and armored vehicles, operating under the cover of artillery and attack drones... Just in case, we repeat: not in the Demidovka area, not in the forest belts near Demidovka - the Ukrainian Armed Forces are IN DEMIDOVKA ITSELF!" - noted in a message from the Russian Telegram channel Severny Kanal .

According to him, Russian troops are forced to retreat under heavy fire from Ukrainian forces. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to gain a foothold in the settlement.

Russian war correspondents suggest that without the support of armored vehicles it will be difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to gain a foothold, but at present Ukrainian defenders continue to put pressure on the enemy's defense.

Demidovka is a large Russian village a few kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

At present, the Ukrainian side is not commenting on the information. However, the General Staff confirmed that Ukrainian aviation successfully attacked the command post of one of the units of the 3rd motorized rifle division of the 20th army of the Russian Armed Forces in the Demidovka area.

The Russians used this facility to plan and conduct military operations in the Sumy region.

Earlier, the General Staff confirmed the destruction of the Engels airfield in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation. Fire, explosions and secondary detonation of ammunition were recorded there.

Columbia Stares Down Trump Admin's 3/20 Deadline To Implement Reforms, Hamas-loving prof brought in $100mil in NIH $$$
[WashingtonFreeBeacon] The policy changes, which include a mask ban and permanent 'time, place, and manner rules,' would only start 'long-term' negotiations

The clock is ticking for Columbia University to respond to a series of demands from the Trump administration, which set a March 20 deadline for the school. The administration indicated that implementation of a series of reforms, including a ban on masked protests and the enforcement of disciplinary policies, would serve as a jumping-off point for negotiations between the university and the administration about the restoration of $430 million in federal funds.

Columbia's interim president, Katrina Armstrong, issued a letter on Wednesday that gave no indication of whether the school would meet the administration's requests. Addressed to "fellow members of the Columbia community," the letter acknowledges the Trump administration's "preconditions for 'continued financial relationships with the United States government'" as well as internal questions about "how we will respond."

Columbia, Armstrong wrote, is "committed to doing what's right." She provided no further detail beyond a pledge to "engage in constructive dialogue with our federal regulators," but did tout "the creation of a new Office of Institutional Equity."

The letter came shortly after the Wall Street Journal reported that Columbia "is getting close to yielding to President Trump's demands in negotiations to restore $400 million in federal funding." Sources familiar with the process, however, told the Washington Free Beacon that the parties are nowhere near a deal that would lead to the resumption of funding.

The Trump administration's "preconditions," laid out in a March 13 letter to Armstrong, include a mask ban, an implementation of permanent "time, place, and manner rules" governing protests, and an academic receivership for Columbia's Middle East, South Asian, and African Studies department. But agreeing to those demands would not guarantee the return of federal funds. Instead, the administration's letter calls on Columbia to "ensure and document compliance" with the policies by Thursday to unlock negotiations on "long-term structural reforms."

The demands have set Columbia's left-wing journalism school on edge, pitting professors against each other, according to Breaker. They prompted internal meetings in which one professor, Nina Berman, accused her colleagues of "doxxing" and another, former journalism school dean Nick Lemann, physically collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.

Armstrong nonetheless closed her letter by touting "the progress on our campus."

"We are working around the clock to secure the future of this extraordinary University," she wrote. "As we move forward, we will always be guided by our principles of free expression, academic freedom and the pursuit of excellence, and we will never waver in our abiding commitment to Columbia's mission of teaching, creating, and advancing knowledge."

Pro-Hamas Columbia prof linked to millions in NIH funding

[CampusReform] City Journal also reports that Neuropsychology Professor Jennifer Manly has involvement in approximately $100 million in federal grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the last several decades. The outlet notes that much of her work consists of the "so-called social determinants of health thesis, posits that racism, sexism, and homophobia can cause brain disease in ’Black and Latinx communities’—a thesis that critics have described as pseudo-science."

Rufo and Grossman also note that in an interview from last year, Manly stated that, "we shouldn’t blame people for their lifestyle choices in terms of their brain health," concerning the idea that racism contributes to Alzheimer’s. She also reportedly advanced the idea that "systems of oppression" cause minorities to suffer from higher rates of dementia.

In January, Manly published a taxpayer-funded article that suggests that "racism is associated with inflammation and dementia risk." This research was part of a NIH grant of over $700,000, according to City Journal.

Manly’s university biography notes that her "research focuses on mechanisms of inequalities in cognitive aging and Alzheimer’s Disease." The web page also acknowledges that "[h]er research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Alzheimer’s Association, and she has authored over 220 peer-reviewed publications and 10 chapters."

In 2021, Manly was elected to the National Academy of Medicine. During 2011-2015, she served on the HHS Advisory Council on Alzheimer’s Research, Care and Services.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
In Zaporozhye they demanded to recognize the crimes of the Nazis in the region as genocide
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] In the Zaporizhia region, they demanded to recognize the crimes committed by the Nazi invaders and their accomplices in the region during the Great Patriotic War as genocide of the Soviet people. This was reported on March 20 by the press service of the regional department.

It is noted that the prosecutor's office established the fact of mass torture and brutal murders during the German occupation of the region from October 1941 to October 1943.

"In the city of Melitopol alone, the Nazis brutally dealt with more than 1,800 innocent families in one day. The fascists were especially brutal in their treatment of Soviet prisoners of war. The Red Army soldiers were not given food or drink, those who fell from fatigue and exhaustion were shot, other prisoners had their ears cut off, their eyes gouged out, their hands chopped off, and ultimately they were killed," the article says.

According to the department, over 67,000 civilians and 11,000 prisoners of war were killed in the Zaporizhia region, and over 157,000 people were sent to hard labor. In addition, the amount of damage from the devastation and destruction of collective farms, factories, plants, schools, hospitals, cultural institutions and monasteries by the German military exceeded 25.6 trillion rubles.

The prosecutor's office also submitted a significant body of evidence to the court for consideration, in particular archival documents, expert opinions and materials from the criminal case.

As previously reported by the Regnum news agency, similar lawsuits were previously filed by prosecutors in a number of other Russian regions. In particular, on February 27, the actions of the Nazis near Novgorod during the Great Patriotic War also demanded to be recognized as genocide. The regional prosecutor's office noted that at that time, punitive battalions formed by the invaders were operating on Novgorod lands, which massively destroyed civilians and prisoners of war ; during the occupation, more than 202 thousand people died, and another 166 thousand were driven into slavery.

Moreover, the Nazis razed to the ground the cities of Malaya Vishera, Novgorod, Soltsy, Staraya Russa and Chudovo, and destroyed many cultural monuments. The total amount of damage was about 48 trillion rubles.

Government Corruption
Legal Analysis: Biden's Autopen Pardons Are 'Invalid'
[PJMedia] PJ Media has been covering the Joe Biden autopen scandal ever since it broke earlier this month. According to the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project, the White House used an autopen to sign nearly every document Joe Biden signed. Given Biden’s cognitive decline, this revelation prompted concerns about whether he was aware of or authorized these actions.

The media largely ignored the issue until Donald Trump intervened, declaring Biden’s autopen-signed pardons “void” and claiming Biden “did not know anything about them.” This movie finally forced the media to pay attention to the scandal, and that’s pretty huge. This is a discussion that needs to take place, and while I’m skeptical that anything will ultimately come of it, legal scholars insist that anything that was the autopen signed may, in fact, be invalid.

Here's legal analysis from the Oversight Project’s memorandum:

The United States Constitution vests numerous powers in one man and one man alone—the President of the United States. These powers include signing or vetoing bills, signing or vetoing orders, resolutions, or certain legislative votes, nominating and commissioning Officers, and granting reprieves and pardons. In all of these instances, the President’s personal action is required, i.e., he “shall” perform some action. These mandates are exclusive to the President. Therefore, it is well established that the President cannot delegate these decisions to anyone. The President affixing his wet signature not only signifies consent, but is the legally required act.

What happens when the president doesn’t personally sign documents exercising his powers, instead relying on a proxy or autopen to fulfill constitutional duties or issue pardons? And how does this change when the president lacks the mental or physical capacity to perform these duties?

“At its core, the longstanding historical practice that the President affix his wet signature to Acts of Congress and clemency warrants stems from the interconnected issues of authority and authenticity,” explains the Oversight Project. “The Constitution vests the execution of Executive powers, the signing of bills into law, and the awarding of pardons and clemency in one person—the President.”

While the president can seek advice, the final decision and responsibility rest with him. Since the nation’s founding, requiring the president’s wet signature on key documents has served as a vital safeguard against fraud and unauthorized authority.

The use of the autopen to affix the President’s signature has been justified by the modern Administrative State through tortured Constitutional interpretation, asking the wrong core questions, and deliberately ignoring contrary authority. Thus, the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel (“OLC”) in 2005 reversed their longstanding interpretation that had seen bills flown around the world for the President’s wet signature and has opined that the President may even autopen bills. This opinion is wrong. But even that erroneous opinion was clear that “[w]e emphasize that we are not suggesting that the President may delegate the decision to approve and sign a bill, only that, having made this decision, he may direct a subordinate to affix the President’s signature to the bill.” Thus, the Biden Administration’s use of the autopen may well have been contrary even to the most permissive interpretation of the law.

To this point, Trump explained this week that he doesn’t use an autopen for any legally binding documents.

"We may use it, as an example, to send some young person a letter because it’s nice," Trump said. "You know, we get thousands and thousands of letters, letters of support for young people, from people that aren’t feeling well, etcetera. But to sign pardons and all of the things that he signed with an autopen is disgraceful."

In this light, the key issues associated with any auto-penned document involving a non-delegable decision that only the President can make under the Constitution are two-fold: (1) whether or not President Biden made the decision; and (2) whether or not President Biden, having made the decision, then directed a subordinate to affix his signature to the document at issue. Again, this is a concept well known to everyday Americans. Even though in some instances the law permits ministerial acts to be delegated, one must be competent to act, and that requirement protects all against fraud (including the individual in question).

“Every leftist who shrieked, whined, and moaned about defending democracy is a complete hypocrite if they are not outraged by the antidemocratic action on the scale of presidential actions enacted by people who were never elected to anything,” Oversight Project Executive Director Mike Howell told The Daily Signal on Tuesday. “The pardons are as valid as a $3 bill.”

While past presidents have used autopens for minor or routine proclamations, Howell argued that this situation was different. He pointed to the 25th Amendment, enacted after JFK’s assassination, which established a process for replacing an incapacitated president.

“This was a device used as a workaround of the 25th Amendment,” Howell said.

A 2024 Justice Department report by Special Counsel Robert Hur on Biden’s handling of classified documents found he had “diminished faculties,” which ultimately saved him from prosecution. It should have forced his removal from office, but Democrats swiftly came to his defense. It wasn't until after his disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump in June forced them to confront the reality that they couldn’t hide it anymore, and party leaders forced Biden off the ticket.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Mass panic in ''Israel'' as Yemeni missile hits Zionist targets OR is shot down before it reaches Israel
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Air raid sirens sounded in occupied Paleostine after a ballistic missile was launched from Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, according to an announcement by the Israeli occupation army.

Israeli media reported that dozens of settlers were maimed as they rushed to shelters in occupied Jerusalem and Tel Aviv after air raid sirens were activated across large areas of occupied Paleostine.

Enemy media also reported that flights were halted at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv following the missile launch from Yemen.

Earlier in the day, Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF), announced that the YAF's Rocket Force had fired a Paleostine-2 hypersonic missile at Ben Gurion Airport. This action was described as a response to the ongoing Israeli massacres against Paleostinians.

Sare'e also stated that various branches of the YAF had conducted coordinated attacks against the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and other vessels in the Red Sea.

This marked the second strike launched by the YAF since the renewal of Israeli aggression on the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip, coinciding with renewed US-led strikes on Yemen

The view from Israel — I know who I believe:
IDF says air force downed Yemen missile before it entered Israeli airspace
[IsraelTimes] The military says the missile fired from Yemen was downed by the air force before entering Israeli airspace.

A statement from the Israel Defense Forces says “the sirens were activated in accordance with protocol,” apparently due to concerns of falling debris.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service says it has received no direct reports of injuries from debris, though medics are treating several people suffering acute anxiety or who were hurt while rushing to shelters.

US said to ask Israel not to respond to Houthi missile attack amid American campaign
[IsraelTimes] The US has asked Israel not to respond to an overnight missile attack by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, the Ynet news site reports citing an Israeli official.

The request comes as the US has carried out widespread strikes against the Houthis in recent days.

According to the report, the US told Israel to “let them deal with it.”

The Israel Defense Forces said earlier that it downed a missile fired from Yemen before the projectile entered Israeli airspace overnight, with the Houthis claiming responsibility for its second attack on the country this week.

The attack triggered sirens across a wide swath of central Israel, including the Tel Aviv and Jerusalem areas, sending millions scrambling to reach bomb shelters at 4 a.m.

DOGE Shuts Down Federal Agency Exposed For Massive Corruption
[X]
… just 60 employees occupied a massive 9-story K Street office, filled with expensive artwork—including oil paintings of themselves.

They racked up personal expenses on government credit cards, splurging on jewelry, vacation home cable bills, and even a BMW lease.

The agency also funneled cash into "awareness trips" that doubled as luxury vacations, while handing out $1,500-a-day insider contracts.

One retiree even used taxpayer dollars to store photo albums… of his dog.

When investigators blew the whistle, FMCS fired them instead.

Now, thanks to DOGE, the agency is officially gone.

Al-Shabaab has grabbed credit for the attack. Additional security measures have been taken after the murderous Moslems heightened their activities in the country, with security teams being deployed in areas of national interest in Somalia.

In Middle Shabelle, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who visited soldiers on the frontlines, was accompanied by the Somali National Army chief Maj. Gen. Yusuf Odawa, NISA Director Abdullahi Sanbalolshe, and Military Court Chief Hassan Ali Shute.

"The EU and Somalia share a close partnership, notably under the EU—Somalia Joint Operational Roadmap. The EU remains a steadfast supporter of Somalia’s state-building process, including in the security sector," it further said while pledging support for the soldiers on the battlefield.

Al-Shabaab murderous Moslems usually take advantage of the Holy month of Ramadhan to initiate attacks across the country, mostly targeting senior government officials, government installations, military officials and innocent civilians.

Iraq
Iraqi army arrests five after clashes with PKK-affiliated group in Shingal
I’m very confused.
[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces on Wednesday said they arrested five individuals following an overnight skirmish between the Iraqi army and armed individuals affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the predominantly Yazidi district of Shingal (Sinjar).

A statement from the Iraqi Security Media Cell said that a "group of outlaws in two vehicles kidnapped a citizen in Sinjar district [north of Iraq] and took him to another location." In response, Iraqi army forces, Shingal police, and other security units "pursued the vehicles, completely surrounding the area."

During the operation, the kidnappers "threw a hand grenade at one of the security forces’ vehicles," causing "minor injuries to four security personnel." Security forces "managed to wound two of the kidnappers - one critically - and arrested five suspects involved in the kidnapping." The kidnapped citizen was freed following intense festivities.

The Security Media Cell did not provide details on the motive behind the reported "kidnapping," but the Shingal Resistance® Units (YBS) - a group widely known as an all-Yazidi offshoot of the PKK - claimed in on Wednesday that the Iraqi army targeted one of their vehicles in Shingal, which led to the injury of three of their fighters.

The YBS claimed that the Iraqi forces "ambushed" their fighters, leaving one of them at death's door.

Pro-YBS media on Wednesday reported on the incident and published a video showing YBS supporters trying to protest at the venue of the incident, but were blocked by security forces.

Sherwan Dubardani, a Kurdish politician representing the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Nineveh province, told Rudaw on Wednesday that the YBS had kidnapped a citizen, who is an engineer, and stolen his vehicle.

Dubardani added that security forces pursued the "kidnappers" - who were in two YBS vehicles and attacked the soldiers in defense of one of their members who was accused of stealing the vehicle.

A myriad of gangs are active in Shingal, including those affiliated with the PKK, the Iraqi government, and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

This is not the first time festivities have erupted between the Iraqi army and the YBS, with deadly confrontations occurring in May 2022 over control of the district.

The YBS, formed in 2007, gained prominence after fighting against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in 2014, following the latter’s blitz attack on the Yazidi heartland of Shingal, which resulted in mass atrocities against the ethno-religious minority group.

Backed by the PKK, the YBS gained control of large areas in Shingal and remains one of the most influential forces in the region despite opposition from Baghdad.

The YBS additionally comes under sporadic attacks from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
, which regards them as a PKK offshoot. Ankara designates the PKK as a terrorist organization.

Last year, Iraq banned the PKK, paving the way for stronger relations between Baghdad and Ankara.

Iraq also signed the Shingal Agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to normalize life in the war-torn district in 2020. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
the KRG contends that the presence of PKK-linked forces and lack of cooperation from the Iraqi government have led to the failure of the agreement.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the space pirate fleet to attack Zemblonia...
many Yazidis who fled Shingal during the 2014 ISIS attacks have been unable to return due to ongoing security issues and a lack of basic services in the district.

ISIS suicide bomber detonates near army position in north Iraq
[Rudaw] Two ISIS turbans, including a suicide-bomber who self-detonated, were killed during festivities with Iraqi security forces in northern Iraq on Wednesday, according to Baghdad’s Security Media Cell.

"After intensive monitoring and the use of technical and intelligence resources, a force from the second battalion of the 88th [Iraqi Army] Brigade and Military Intelligence Directorate detachments within the Eastern Salahaddin Operations Command set up an ambush in the Palkana area in Tuz district [north of Salahaddin province]," the cell stated, adding that "the operation successfully eliminated a cell consisting of four ISIS terrorists."

"The ambush resulted in casualties within the terrorist group, with two killed - one of whom was a jacket wallah wearing an boom belt - and others maimed," the cell added, noting that the Iraqi forces were also "supported by drones from the Military Intelligence Directorate."

Earlier on Wednesday, an advisor to the Salahaddin governor, Kawa Sheikhani, told Rudaw that the ambush "to root out four ISIS bully boyz was set in an area between the town of Kifri [in Sulaimani province] and the town of Tuz Khurmatu [in the district of Tuz in Salahaddin province, 175 km north of Baghdad]."

An informed security source in Tuz Khurmatu, who spoke to Rudaw on conditions of anonymity, corroborated Sheikhani’s remarks stating that "ISIS bully boyz clashed with Iraqi forces and the suicide bomber was the group’s commander in Salahaddin province. The other bully boyz managed to escape to [their hideout in] Palakan mountain [east of Salahaddin]."

"The Iraqi army had detected the turbans’ movement through thermal cameras," the source noted, adding that "no injuries were recorded among Iraqi forces."

Kifri is part of Sulaimani’s Garmiyan administration and borders areas held by the Iraqi federal government. Erbil and Baghdad have been working jointly to address security gaps between their territories, which have allowed ISIS bully boyz room to maneuver.

The head of Iraq’s Security Media Cell in late February confirmed to Rudaw that Iraqi security forces have largely eradicated ISIS from the country, with only a few hundred bully boyz remaining in remote areas.

Major General Saad Maan stated that some 400 to 600 ISIS bully boyz are still scattered across uninhabitable regions of Iraq, emphasizing that local communities "are rejecting their presence, and no one is harboring them."

He further explained that "for over a year, we have not faced direct attacks from ISIS and the number of explosions" caused by improvised bombs (IEDs) or suicide-bombers "has been minimal." He underscored that Iraqi forces "are taking the initiative to strike first."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian security forces arrest a former commander of the former Assad regime factions accused of war crimes
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Syria’s Interior Ministry announced on Thursday the arrest of a former commander of the "Tiger Forces," a notorious pro-Assad military unit, as part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal networks operating in the post-war period.

In a statement, the ministry confirmed the detention of Bashar Mahfouz, who previously led assault units and oversaw recruitment for the 25th Division, which was commanded by Suheil al-Hassan, known as "The Tiger."

According to the Interior Ministry, Mahfouz is accused of committing war crimes and forming a gang involved in kidnapping and looting following the collapse of the previous government structure. He is set to face trial before a specialized court.

The arrest marks a significant move by Syrian authorities, reflecting an effort to address lawlessness that has persisted in various regions since the end of major military operations.

In a related security development, an intelligence source told local media that Syrian security forces had intercepted an illicit weapons deal in eastern Daraa countryside. Two individuals, identified as Raoui Kiwan and Moataz Ghanem, were apprehended while receiving a shipment of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles from a supplier known as "Abu Zaater."

Daraa, which has remained a hotspot for holy warrior activity and arms smuggling, has witnessed frequent festivities between security forces and gangs, complicating stabilization efforts in the south.

The crackdown on former military figures and illicit arms trade signals a broader attempt by the Syrian government to consolidate control and address lawlessness that has plagued parts of the country. However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
security analysts suggest that such efforts face challenges due to lingering tensions and the presence of multiple factions operating within Syria’s fragmented landscape.

While these developments may indicate a shift in security policy, the long-term effectiveness of such measures remains uncertain amid the country’s complex political and military dynamics.

'Star Trek shield' technology gets $250M boost to knock drone swarms from the sky with high-powered microwave
[FoxNews] A new high-powered microwave system that can knock swarms of drones out of the sky at once is going to "touch every aspect of warfare," according to Epirus founder, Joe Lonsdale.

"It’s kind of like a Star Trek shield," Lonsdale, founder of Epirus and a co-founder of fast-rising defense technology company Palantir, explained of its Leonidas counter-drone system. "It’s able to turn them off from very far away."

"This is going to touch every aspect of warfare over the next decade," he told Fox News Digital. "We can knock down some pretty advanced drones."

Defense tech startup Epirus secured another $250 million in a Series D funding round, which was announced Wednesday, bringing its total venture funding to over $550 million.

Syrian government and Kurdish officials discuss merging their armed forces
[IsraelTimes] The new Syrian government wants to bring Syria’s breakaway Kurdish militias back under government control, but the details of their recent breakthrough agreement are still being worked out and negotiators will have overcome a decade of civil war.

Government officials meet in the northeastern province of Hassakeh with the commander of the main Kurdish-led group in the country, the Syrian Democratic Forces, which is backed by the US.

The meeting comes a week after Syria’s interim government signed a deal with the Kurdish-led authority that controls the country’s northeast, including a ceasefire and the merging of the SDF into the Syrian army.

The deal should be implemented by the end of the year. It would bring northeast Syria’s borders and lucrative oil fields under the central government’s control.

Reassurance, not peacekeeping: What Ukraine coalition force will and won't do
[BBC] The potential Western troop deployment to Ukraine being discussed in London should be described as a "reassurance force" rather than a "peacekeeping force", defence and diplomatic sources say.

Currently dubbed the Multinational Force Ukraine or MFU, it would be sent to the country to cement any ceasefire and encourage long-term confidence in the country.

The focus would be on providing Ukraine with air cover to keep its skies safe and a naval presence in the Black Sea to encourage trade.

The deployment of so-called "boots on the ground" - probably about 20,000 strong - would in terms of size not be big enough to enforce any peace.
Instead, the troops - provided by a so-called "coalition of the willing" - would most likely be deployed to protect cities, ports and major energy infrastructure.

One option being considered is that the MFU might not operate in the east of Ukraine near the front line to try to reassure Russia it poses no offensive threat.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin have said repeatedly they would not agree any ceasefire if European and other forces were deployed to Ukraine.

The sources say any multinational operation in Ukraine would not be a "peacekeeping force" and should not be described as such.

Peacekeeping forces - under the aegis of either the United Nations or Nato - traditionally are impartial, operate with the consent of both parties and use force only to defend themselves. The multinational force being discussed would very much be on Ukraine's side, there to help deter future Russian aggression.

At the moment, it is not expected that the multinational force on the ground would monitor any ceasefire. That would be done by Ukrainian troops on the frontline and Western surveillance assets in the air and space.

The sources also say the coalition troops would not be deployed to provide a so-called "tripwire force" - meaning a force smaller than that of the opponent, designed to deter an attack without triggering escalation - if Russia resumed its invasion of Ukraine.

They say the military impact of any allied deployment of about 20,000 troops would be limited compared to the number of troops on either side of the front line.

Ukraine has almost a million military personnel, Russia's army is even larger.

Much of the focus of Thursday's discussions is on how best any international force can provide Ukraine with assets it does not have, especially capability in the air.

So, there will be discussions about which countries can provide warplanes to keep Ukraine's skies safe during a ceasefire.

There will also be discussions about how to make the Black Sea safe for shipping. That may involve two components: how best to keep shipping lanes clear of mines and what kind of naval task force could provide a security presence in the sea.

The key uncertainty is whether the United States would provide any air, satellite or intelligence cover for any European force on the ground.

The US has thus far said it would not be willing to provide any military "backstop".

The European strategy for now is to stop asking the US and instead organise the best force and capability it can to ensure the security of Ukraine in the future. Once the details are agreed, then the UK, France and others would see if the European offer was substantial enough for the US to have a change of heart and agree to play some kind of role.

What all this planning depends on, of course, is some kind of ceasefire being agreed in Ukraine.

While the US remains optimistic, many in Ukraine remain sceptical that Russia even wants to end the fighting.

Labor Department Saves $33 Million by Slashing USAID-Like America Last Grants
[Breitbart] Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer saved millions of taxpayer dollars by slashing grants to foreign countries that were similar to those of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Breitbart News has learned exclusively.

Secretary Chavez-DeRemer was sworn in a week ago and has already made headway into trimming the budget at the Department of Labor (DOL) by slashing tens of millions of dollars in grants to foreign countries to shore up their labor policies.
Interesting that she is the one that the unions pushed hard to put in place because of her reputation as a friend of unionization. Could she be another Trump convert like Marco Rubio and JD Vance?
Breitbart News has learned exclusively that the Labor Department has sent taxpayer dollars overseas. The cuts DeRemer has made so far include:

  • Cutting a $1.5 million grant to enhance transparency and accountability in Uzbekistan’s cotton industry

  • Eliminating a $7 million grant promoting climate change policies and practices in Brazil, Chile, South Africa, and Colombia

  • Scrapping $18 million in grants promoting collective bargaining in Brazil, Colombia, Cote D’Ivoire, Indonesia, and Guatemala

  • Slashing a $1.5 million grant to improve compliance in workplace standards for the country of Georgia

Many of these grants are similar to those of USAID, which sent untold millions of dollars to foreign governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other groups.
It’s a model that worked, so long as no one acted on what they might happen to see. No doubt the same model has been applied across the government — it’ll be interesting to see how many billions of dollars Secretary C-DR manages to cut in the first pass… and then in the second.
The canceled foreign grants follow Secretary Chavez-DeRemer’s declaration on day one as head of the Labor Department that the department would move to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.

In a memo last week to executive staff and agency heads within the DOL, she ordered a review of budgets to identify opportunities to cut “wasteful contract spending” and recommend ways to “cut redundancies and low-performing employees.”

“By adhering to the principles of fiscal responsibility and efficiency, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of millions of Americans,” she wrote in the memo.

“At the direction of the President, the Department of Labor has already saved the American taxpayer $125 million, and this important work must continue to root out waste, fraud, and abuse,” she contended, noting that many of these contracts include discriminatory diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training and consulting.

“Thank you for your dedication to our mission of Putting American Workers First as we work together on behalf of President Trump to usher in a new Golden Age of economic prosperity,” she wrote in her memo to staff. “I look forward to collaborating to create a positive impact on the lives of millions of workers and their families.”

Another Failure: Gavin Newsom's Bankrupted Medi-Cal After Expanding Coverage to Illegal Aliens
[RedState] California Gov. Gavin Newsom (Democrat, of course) bragged about a huge budget surplus during the COVID lockdowns and made big promises to his core constituencies about how they were going to use that money. For many reasons (pandemic unemployment fraud, gross mismanagement, huge tax base losses) that surplus isn't just gone; the state has such a large shortfall that some agencies were ordered to stop ordering office supplies.

Last year, despite loud warnings about the cost from (most) California Republicans and anyone else with a brain, Newsom and his band of virtue-signaling Democrats made Medi-Cal available to illegal aliens in the state - and now Medi-Cal is bankrupt and Newsom's asking the legislature for $6.2 billion just to keep it solvent through the end of the fiscal year.

Surprisingly, he admits that paying for healthcare coverage for illegal aliens is "partially" contributing to Medi-Cal's funding shortfall.

Where will that money Newsom's requesting come from? The state's general fund will probably be raided, and monies earmarked for other things (most likely from the $10 billion "climate change" bond voters approved last year, so not from anything important) will be diverted to pay for this boondoggle.

Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones (R-San Diego) wants to know why estimates were so far off (and so do the rest of us):

Just days after the Newsom Administration announced a $3.4 billion loan to cover Medi-Cal for illegal immigrants, they are now scrambling to secure an additional $2.8 billion just to keep the program solvent through June.

That’s a staggering $6.2 billion over budget...and the costs keep climbing with no end in sight. Californians should not be forced to shoulder the burden of radical Democrats' reckless financial mismanagement.

Even Jerry Brown refused to expand Medi-Cal to all illegal immigrants because he knew it was fiscally irresponsible and unsustainable. Now under Newsom, legal residents are paying the price both financially and in reduced access to healthcare.

The public deserves answers: Why are the costs so much higher than what Newsom promised? What is Newsom’s plan to fix the financial disaster he created?

Remember in 2013, California designated itself a “sanctuary state” and then re-enforced it in 2017 with the media dubbed California Values Act.

It now has an Illegal population of well over
2.6++ million residing there. Making it the #1 state in the USA for illegal immigrants.

The CAL. State is so screwed up and hard to survive in now. That Illegals are actually leaving CAL. for Red states. Where illegal manual labor, employment is possible and better living conditions can be found and paid for by the Illegals themselves.

Dozens of Palestinians Killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza as IDF expands and ground operation
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Israeli occupation forces continued their bloody aggression on the Gaza Strip for the third consecutive day on Thursday, committing numerous massacres against peaceful families, killing and wounding dozens of them.

The Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip have intensified, especially at dawn, when the Israeli forces flattened at least nine residential buildings over the past two hours.

According to medical sources, 37 civilians were killed and 40 others were reported missing under the rubble, including newborn babies, children, women, and the elderly who had been sleeping.

The sources confirmed that 21 martyrs were brought to the Gaza European Hospital following the Israeli airstrikes in Khan Yunis and Rafah. The Israeli bombing wiped out entire families.

Several people were killed, several others were injured, and others went missing under the rubble after the Israeli warplanes bombed the Al-Daour family home in Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip.

Several civilians were also injured after an Israeli helicopter bombed a tent housing displaced persons in the Al-Zahour neighborhood, north of Rafah, early Thursday morning.

Israeli aircraft also bombed agricultural land northwest of Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip, amid heavy artillery shelling.

Several people were killed and others were injured when the Israeli forces bombed the Abu Nasr family home in the town of Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip.

At least 10 citizens were killed in an Israeli attack on the Jabr family home in the Musbah area, north of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

Two other martyrs were pulled out from the rubble of the Al-Amour family home in Al-Fakhari, east of Khan Yunis.

Twelve citizens were also killed when the Israeli forces bombed the Abu Daqqa family home in the town of Al-Fakhari.

Meanwhile, another Israeli attack targeted the vicinity of a food aid distribution warehouse and a prayer hall in the Ma'an area, east of Khan Yunis.

Israeli occupation forces renewed their offensive on the Gaza Strip at dawn Tuesday, with air strikes targeting all areas of the Strip, leading to the martyrdom of about 500 citizens and the injury of hundreds of others, unilaterally ending the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip that came into effect on January 19.

IDF ground troops expand operations in Strip

[IsraelTimes] Israeli troops expanded a ground operation in the northern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip, alongside dozens of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on terror targets, two days into the resumption of fighting in the enclave, after the collapse of a two-month ceasefire.

On Thursday evening the IDF said it had expanded its ground operations in the southern Gaza Strip. In the past few hours, troops had advanced into the Shaboura camp in Rafah, and destroyed "terror infrastructure," the military said.

Early on Thursday the IDF launched ground operations along the coast of the far north of the Gaza Strip, close to Beit Lahiya. It came as part of the IDF’s activity aimed at expanding its buffer zone along the Gaza border.

Following the rocket attack, the Israel Defense Forces issued an evacuation warning to Paleostinians in the Bani Suheila area of southern Gaza.

In a post on X, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man, Col. Avichay Adraee, published a map of the area that is to be evacuated, saying that it was a "final warning" before the IDF carries out strikes there.

"Terror organizations are once again launching their rockets from within civilian areas. We have warned this area many times," he said. Adraee called on Gazook civilians to head west to recognized humanitarian shelters.

GROUND OPERATION ALONG GAZA’S NORTHERN COAST
Troops of the 252nd Division pushed into north Gaza’s coastal road area on Thursday, and were deployed there as of Thursday afternoon, the army said. Two tank battalions of the 188th Armored Brigade have been leading the operation.

Ahead of the offensive, the IDF said it carried out airstrikes on some 40 targets in the Beit Lahiya area, including tunnels, anti-tank missile launch posts, Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
operatives, and other threats to troops.

Additionally, the IDF said it carried out strikes on dozens of Hamas and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
targets in Gaza overnight.

Fighter jets and other Israeli Air Force aircraft hit terror operatives, buildings used by terror groups, weapons, and other infrastructure that posed a threat to Israel, the military and Shin Bet said in a joint statement.

There have not been any reports of actual festivities on the ground since Israel resumed military action in Gaza on Tuesday.

GAZANS WARNED TO AVOID MAIN ROAD IN CENTRAL STRIP
Thursday also saw the IDF warn Paleostinians to avoid a main Gaza artery as troops advanced in the Netzarim Corridor area in the Strip’s center.

In a post on X, Adraee said that "over the past day, IDF troops began a targeted operation" in central Gaza, and were "deployed up to the center of the Netzarim Corridor.

"For your safety, do not travel on the Salah a-Din road between the north of the Gaza Strip and the south and vice versa," he said.

Traveling from the north of the Strip to its south is only permitted via the coastal road, known as al-Rashid, Adraee added.

The military has warned Paleostinians against approaching areas where troops are operating.

ISRAEL DENIES ITS STRIKE KILLED UN EMPLOYEES
Five staff members of the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
Paleostinian relief agency UNRWA have been killed in the past few days, the agency’s Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said Thursday.

"In the past few days another five UNRWA staff have been confirmed killed, bringing the corpse count to 284. They were teachers, doctors and nurses: serving the most vulnerable," he said in a statement posted on X.

On Wednesday, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres
...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
condemned attacks on the organization’s personnel after a United Nations Office for Project Services staff member died in an alleged strike on UN guesthouses.

Israel has denied carrying out an airstrike on the facility in Deir al-Balah, and photos from the scene show that those hurt were from the United Nations Mine Action Service, which deals with clearing leftover bombs.

Israel says Hamas and other Gazook terror groups use UN facilities to hide weapons, personnel or other infrastructure. It has also published evidence showing UNRWA staffers were among the thousands of Hamas-led Gazooks to take part in massacres across southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

PRO-HAMAS OUTLET CLAIMS 71 KILLED OVERNIGHT
Gaza’s pro-Hamas Quds News outlet also reported that 71 people were killed in Israeli strikes across the Strip overnight Wednesday-Thursday, which would raise the corpse count to over 540 since Israel resumed its military campaign in Gaza early Tuesday morning.

The news outlet reported that airstrikes took place around Khan Younis, Rafah and other parts of Gaza overnight.

The corpse count cannot be verified, and figures from Hamas-controlled health authorities have been questioned. In addition, they make no distinction between civilians and combatants.

Israel says it is only targeting forces of Evil and terror infrastructure and blames Hamas and allied groups for collateral damage, saying they use civilians as human shields.

'Let's show them so they remember forever!' How the 'attack of the dead' was repeated in Sudzha
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Ilya Knorring

[REGNUM] In the more than thousand-year history of the Russian army, things have happened more than once to which the words of Peter the Great can be applied: "the unheard of happens." Thanks to the desperate courage of the fighters, something happens that contradicts the generally accepted laws of military science, and even the laws of nature.

This includes the attack of Russian submarines on Swedish ships bristling with guns (in honor of this boarding, Peter I ordered the medal "The Unprecedented Happens" to be minted), and the passage of Suvorov's soldiers through the Alps. And the capture of a German "stronghold" near the village of Chernushki in the Kalinin region in February 1943, which would not have happened without the feat of Alexander Matrosov. Now in the same row is Operation Potok - the passage of six hundred attack aircraft along a gas pipeline to the rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk's Sudzha.

One of the participants in the throw down the pipe, a fighter with the call sign Medved, told in a recent interview to the editor-in-chief of the Regnum news agency, Marina Akhmedova :

"Everyone understood that they could have simply not come out... They said that there was no gas in the pipe, but it still settled somewhere in the lowlands. The pipe doesn't just go straight. It turns, swerves. So everyone understood that either we were heroes, or... Well, they'll forget: it was unfortunate."

The fear was not unfounded - until the beginning of this year, the gas pipeline was used to pump export fuel to Europe. But the fighters, at their own risk, moved for almost a week along a nearly 15-kilometer stretch, in the dark, suffocating from lack of oxygen. And - they appeared literally from underground, dirty, half-poisoned, but ready for battle.

"They plunged the enemy into such terror that the infantrymen, not accepting the fight, rushed back, trampling each other" - this phrase could well describe the consequences of the "Kursk pipe" (remember how quickly the VSUS left Sudzha). But this is how one of the episodes of the battle at the walls of the Osovets fortress was described almost 110 years ago, in August 1915.

This battle was the predecessor and “brother” of the modern feat, and it was not for nothing that it was called the “attack of the dead.”

DARK GREEN FOG
Osowiec, a small stronghold near the Polish town of the same name, had been under siege by the Germans since February 1915. The Kaiser's troops took the much more serious fortifications of neighboring Novogeorgievsk (today's Modlin), receiving colossal artillery as trophies. And in Osowiec, despite the shelling, the defenders repelled attack after attack.

“The brick buildings were falling apart, the wooden ones were burning, the weak concrete ones were giving huge cracks in the arches and walls… The wire communication was broken, the highway was damaged by craters; the trenches and all the improvements on the ramparts, such as canopies, machine gun nests, light dugouts, were wiped off the face of the earth,” recalled Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Khmelkov, a participant in the defense of Osowiec.

But the first, and then the second, artillery attack by the Germans was repelled – even though the enemy used 17 artillery batteries, which included four 420-mm “Big Bertha” mortars, the most terrible weapons of that war.

On August 6, the third onslaught began, and not only artillery was involved. At four o'clock in the morning, a dark green fog was directed at the Russian positions - it was a mixture of chlorine and bromine. Before that, the enemy, having installed several thousand cylinders with poison gas, waited for the wind to blow in the right direction - and waited.

The defenders of the fortress did not have gas masks.

"EVERYTHING IS POISONED TO DEATH"
"Everything alive in the open air on the fortress bridgehead was poisoned to death... - people not participating in the battle saved themselves in barracks, shelters, residential buildings, tightly locking the doors and windows, pouring water on them abundantly. All the greenery in the fortress and in the immediate area along the path of the gases was destroyed, the leaves on the trees turned yellow, curled up and fell off, the grass turned black and lay on the ground," testified Lieutenant Colonel Khmelkov.

Chlorine-bromine stagnated in the lowlands, near the water ditches, just as methane stagnated in the "lowlands" and on the bends of the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod pipeline. The products were poisoned and unfit for consumption. If the participants of Operation Potok, tormented by thirst, still found some kind of way out - they collected water condensate, then the defenders of Osowiec were deprived of this opportunity.

"About half of the fighters were poisoned to death. The half-poisoned ones trudged back and, tormented by thirst, bent down to the water sources, but here, in the low places, the gases lingered, and secondary poisoning led to death," testified Colonel Vsevolod Bunyakovsky, a participant in the defense of Osovets and commander of the 225th Livny Regiment.

By the time the Germans approached the Russian positions, the number of its defenders was estimated at some 160–200 people “capable of using weapons.”

"WE'RE NOT GOING TO DIE!"
"The morning was cold and foggy; a moderate north wind was blowing," Bunyakovsky recalled. The wind drove the gas toward our positions.

Three companies of the Zemlyansky Regiment, sent out from the Zarechny Fort Osovets to counterattack, lost up to 30 percent of their men along the way, poisoned only, and “after some time of releasing the gases, the Germans simultaneously launched red rockets along the entire front and opened hurricane fire.”

Three companies of "zemlyantsy" perished entirely, from the 12th company there remained about 40 men with one machine gun; from the three companies that defended positions near the village of Bialogrondy, there remained about 60 men with two machine guns.

It would seem that after this the Osowiec fortress should have fallen at the feet of the Kaiser, but... the commandant of the fortress, Lieutenant General Nikolai Brzhozovsky, gave the order to attack.

Lieutenant Colonel Khmelkov, himself poisoned during the German attack, recalled:

"The 13th and 8th companies, having lost up to 50% to poisoning, deployed on both sides of the railway and began an offensive; the 13th company, having met units of the 18th Landwehr Regiment, rushed forward with bayonets, shouting "Hurray". This attack of the "dead men", as an eyewitness of the battle reports, so shocked the Germans that they did not accept the battle and rushed back; many Germans died on the wire nets in front of the second line of trenches from the fire of the fortress artillery."

Khmelkov’s officer-like restrained testimony is complemented by the “trench prose” of Alexei Lepeshkin, the commander of a half-company of the 13th company of the 226th Zemlyansky regiment:

"We had no gas masks... When we breathed, we wheezed and bloody foam came out of our lungs. The skin on our hands and faces bubbled. The rags we had wrapped around our faces did not help. However, the Russian artillery began to act, sending shell after shell from a green chlorine cloud towards the Prussians. Here, the head of the 2nd Osowiec Defense Department, Svechnikov, shaking from a terrible cough, wheezed: "My friends, we are not going to die like Prussian cockroaches from poisoning, let's show them so that they will remember forever!"

"ROUTINE WORK"
Russian soldiers and officers, with their faces wrapped in bloody rags, appeared from the greenish gas fog as if from underground.

The enemy was afraid - "some devils are crawling out of the ground... we didn't expect such a turn of events." But, by the way, this is already the testimony of a fighter with the call sign Medved about the consequences of the attack of half-poisoned soldiers and officers of the volunteer detachment "Veterans" of the 11th airborne assault brigade of the 30th motorized rifle regiment and the special forces detachment "Akhmat".

In both cases – in 1915 and in 2025 – the disoriented enemy, not expecting the “unprecedented”, retreated, abandoning their weapons: then – Krupp cannons and machine guns, now – American and European armored vehicles.

After the enemy's third attack on Osowiec failed, our command gave the order to evacuate the survivors, among whom were officers Khmelkov and Bunyakovsky, and to organize the removal of weapons and artillery. The Germans' calculations on this section of the front went to waste, just as the plans of the "Germans" (as the VSSU men are often called) on the Kursk front were nullified.

What seemed to the enemy an absurd, suicidal move, or at best a display of daring courage, was the result of coordinated action. Just carried out in the spirit of "the unheard of happens." As a surviving participant in the "attack of the dead" told a reporter for the newspaper "Russkoye Slovo," "there were no stragglers, no one had to be rushed. There were no individual heroes here, the companies moved as one man."

Pam Bondi charges 3 in ''domestic terrorism'' attacks on Teslas as Indivisible plans additional excitements
Betcha they all turn out to be either Antifa/Black Bloc or mentally ill.
[NYPOST] Three people accused of destroying Tesla cars and charging stations are facing up to 20 years in prison for ''domestic terrorism,'' US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Thursday.

''The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended,'' Bondi said in a statement.

''Let this be a warning: If you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars,'' she added.

The defendants — whose cases are being brought in Colorado, Oregon and South Carolina — are accused of using high-powered weapons and explosives to destroy property belonging to the Elon Musk-owned car company, which has been targeted in recent weeks over his role in the Trump administration.

In Oregon, Adam Matthew Lansky, 41, allegedly carried a suppressed AR-15 rifle while lobbing eight Molotov cocktails at a Salem Tesla dealership Jan. 20. Almost exatly one month later, on Feb. 19, Sherlocks say Lansky returned to the dealership and shot out one of the windows and fired bullets into a car, according to Fox12. Lansky is charged with unlawful possession of an unregistered firearm.

In Colorado, Lucy Grace Nelson, 40, is charged with malicious destruction of property after allegedly trying to light Tesla cars on fire at a dealership in Loveland, 45 miles north of Denver. Investigators say Nelson spray-painted ''Nazi cars'' across the vehicles before tossing Molotov cocktails at them. She was released on $100,000 bond a day after her arrest in February.

Finally, Daniel Clarke-Pounder, 24, is accused of arson of property in interstate commerce after he allegedly vandalized Tesla charging stations in Charleston, SC earlier this month with profane anti-Trump rhetoric, then torched them.

According to authorities, Clarke-Pounder scrawled ''F— Trump'' and ''Long live the Ukraine'' across the charging stations before throwing five Molotov cocktails at them, with one of the homemade bombs lighting the suspect on fire before he put himself out.

Each faces a minimum of five years in prison if convicted, but the charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years.

Despite Bondi's rhetoric, none of the standing charges qualify as ''domestic terrorism,'' and it is unclear whether the AG will elevate them.

President Trump has been outspoken about hunting down the people targeting Teslas across the country — and has called them domestic Lions of Islam when speaking about them.

''I'm going to stop them,'' the president said March 11 after buying a Tesla himself to show support for Musk and the company. ''We're going to catch them, they're bad guys.''

''We're going to catch you, and you're going to go through hell,'' he added.

And today Indivisible hosted a conference call to plan their next attacks on Tesla — which an anonymous someone sat in on for the rest of us:
[X]
… very interesting moments.

I see that today all over their messaging it says nonviolent because of the charges that were brought by Pam Bondi so they seem a little spooked.

Anyway, I listened to their entire organizing call for the 500 protests they are trying to organize for 3/29.

Truly dystopian stuff.

Continuing the second tweet:
…Marc Elias launched Civil Service Strong. The press release calls the firm a coalition of civil society institutions and organizations, including 2.2 million federal government civil servants.

She spoke on the call to rally protesters all across the country to make their voices heard.

So I just connected Indivisible with Civil Service Strong because it’s all tied together.

Definitely linked to Black Bloc cadres…

Hamas spokesman calls for international Islamic unity against Zionist entity
What, the Abraham Accord countries, too? But then they’d not only lose out with Israel, but incur President Trump’s distinct displeasure, just when he is slinging tariffs in all directions. Timing, O Islamic countries, is everything…
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson for Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
' al-Qassam Brigades, called Thursday upon all the free people of the Ummah to join the battle in defense of al-Aqsa and to continue their support for Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
in order to shatter ''Israel's'' arrogance and force it to halt its ongoing aggression.

On his official channel on Telegram, Abu Obeida extended salutations ''to our sincere brothers in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
for their honorable stance and their direct support for their brethren in Gaza, despite the heavy price they pay for their loyalty to al-Aqsa and Paleostine.''

''Today, Yemen's missiles have intersected with those of Gaza in the skies over Tel Aviv, reaffirming that Gaza is not alone and that behind it stand free men of the Ummah who will never surrender it to its arrogant enemies,'' he said.

Earlier on Thursday, the al-Qassam Brigades announced that it had launched a rocket barrage of M90 Maqadma missiles at Tel Aviv in response to the massacres committed by the Israeli occupation against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Lawyer calls two terrorism cases in Kabardino-Balkaria fabricated
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The cases of Salikh Osmanov, sentenced to nine years in prison for sabotage, and Kazbek Emkuzhev, accused of involvement in a terrorist organization, were falsified to improve the security forces’ reporting, the lawyer claims.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", the examination on the basis of which the court found Kabardino-Balkaria resident Salikh Osmanov guilty of attempted sabotage was conducted with gross violations, according to the appeal against Osmanov's sentence. He accused the security forces of fabricating the case.

Osmanov was previously sentenced to nine years in prison for attempted sabotage. His defense filed an appeal against the decision of the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria. According to the prosecution, the security forces found evidence of the attempted sabotage in Osmanov's phone. On June 20, the defense stated that the witness who claims to have sold the phone to Osmanov is connected to the security forces. According to Osmanov, the phone was planted  during the search.

On October 1, 2022, the North Caucasus Federal District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that in the Prokhladnensky District, two suspects in involvement in particularly serious crimes opened fire on employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian National Guard near a railroad track and were killed in the shootout.

The security forces were not injured. Firearms and an object similar to an improvised explosive device were found at the scene, the police reported. The two killed in the Prokhladnensky District  were terrorists preparing sabotage on the railroad, their accomplice was detained, the FSB reported.

Lawyer Ramzan Uzuyev, who defended Salikh Osmanov, a defendant in the case of attempted sabotage in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, called the case falsified – an “execution” legalized during investigative and operational actions, the “Word of Defense” project reported on March 20.

Two other defendants in the case, Yusup Kudayev and Asker Karmokov, were killed during the operation to prevent the alleged explosion. According to Uzuyev, the deaths of Kudayev and Karmokov were not investigated. He linked this to the practice of releasing the bodies of the deceased to relatives only after they renounce all claims.

During the trial, an independent expert for the defense established that the phone was first turned on only on August 31, and the files proving Osmanov's guilt were transferred there via Bluetooth much later than the time indicated in the case materials. The prosecution experts were unable to answer the defense's questions about the inconsistencies discovered, bypassing all the inconvenient points, Uzuyev said.

He noted that without the witness, who, as it turned out, was connected to the security forces, and the phone that this witness, according to him, sold to Osmanov, there would have been no case.

"When such cases are investigated, they are brought to the end, I am convinced that someone receives some medals, regalia, positions..."

Another prosecution witness, who was a secret witness in the case, told the defense that he was not pressured and was ready to testify in court, but the appellate court refused to call him for questioning. All these facts and inconsistencies, according to Uzuyev, directly indicate that the case was falsified. The lawyer assumes that this was done for the sake of statistics, to identify some saboteurs in the republic and receive rewards and promotions for their capture.

"The thing is that when such cases are investigated and brought to a conclusion, I am convinced that someone receives some medals, regalia, positions," he said in a video that the Memorial Human Rights Center published on its YouTube channel on March 20.

The defense intends to appeal the decision in cassation.

The second case Uzuyev is handling is that of 19-year-old Kazbek Emkuzhev from Nalchik, who is accused of participating in a terrorist organization. His case was initially handled by the same investigator as Osmanov's case. The lawyer believes that the case was also completely falsified.

On April 4, 2024, the father of one of the defendants, a former law enforcement officer who had religious conflicts with his son, began accusing him of extremism.

Ramzan Uzuyev believes that the authorities decided to take advantage of the opportunity to create another terrorism case. The defendant was detained with another defendant when they were returning from Dagestan, where they had gone to propose to a girl.

On April 8, a criminal case was opened, which is based on the testimony of two defendants - Aslan Makoyev and Ibragim Albogachiyev, who admitted that they took a bay'at (an oath of allegiance to the leader of Islam) and were going to attack someone.

In total, there are seven defendants in the case, three of whom are Kazbek Yemkuzhev, 19-year-old Tamirlan Chepchikov and 26-year-old Ratmir Murchayev, who were abducted by unknown persons, beaten and tortured with electric shock. Yemkuzhev reported that they were tortured together, but after a while they were separated, he was taken to an unknown location and held there until May 3, presumably to hide traces of violence.

According to him, Chepchikov and Murachaev were "liquidated" on April 12, there was no investigation into their deaths, Ramzan Uzuev suggests that their relatives were faced with the same choice as the relatives of Yusup Kudayev and Asker Karmokov in the case of Salikh Osmanov: the body will be released only if all claims are waived.

On April 11, 2024, during a counter-terrorism operation (CTO) in a gardening community in Nalchik, security forces killed two people . The dead were members of a cell of an international terrorist organization and were planning sabotage and terrorist attacks in Kabardino-Balkaria, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said. The Investigative Committee reported that it had opened a criminal case on the attempt on the lives of security forces and the illegal circulation of weapons and explosives.

In his opinion, Emkuzhev was saved by the fact that his mother took the recording of his abduction to the police and reported her son missing. On May 3, Emkuzhev found himself in the investigator's office and was questioned as a suspect, and then as an accused, although there is no information in the case about his detention. Emkuzhev's father and lawyer sent a statement to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs demanding that the actions of the unknown employees of the agencies involved in the abduction and torture of the young man be investigated.

According to Uzuyev, Yemkuzhev's father received a report in January of this year about the discovery of signs of a crime, but most likely a criminal case will never be opened.

Uzuyev pointed out that the case includes convictions for six more people for failure to report a crime, who, according to the investigation and the court, knew about the impending attack, the publication says.

Security forces in Kabardino-Balkaria regularly report on cases under the article on failure to report a crime. Thus, in November 2024, a court in Nalchik fined  a third-year student 40,000 rubles who, knowing that three of his acquaintances had joined a cell of a banned terrorist organization, did not report this to law enforcement officers.

He noted that all the defendants in the case are connected only by the fact that they lived in the same area and used to play computer games in the same club.

Uzuyev indicated that the investigation limited his time to familiarize himself with the 11 volumes of the case, while the prosecutor approved the indictment in one day, having “studied” all the volumes of the case, the publication says.

"As my client aptly put it: 'In modern Russia, the FSB is like the new oprichniks.' No matter what petition they file, no matter how absurd the criminal case initiated by this agency, everyone turns a blind eye to it," Uzuyev said in the video.

NYC law allowing noncitizens to vote struck down by NY Court of Appeals
[NYPOST] The Big Apple's controversial law allowing noncitizens to vote in city elections was struck down by the state's highest court Thursday.

The New York Court of Appeals ruled 6-1 that the law — passed by the City Council in late 2021, with the support of current Democratic mayoral candidates Adrienne Adams and Brad Lander — violated the state constitution.

''Whatever the future may bring, the New York Constitution as it stands today draws a firm line restricting voting to citizens,'' the opinion states.

No noncitizens in New York City ever cast a vote under the law, as it quickly was challenged in the courts.

Al-Qassam Brigades bomb Tel Aviv with rocket barrage; of the 3 rockets launched, 1 shot down, 2 hit empty fields
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance® Movement Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
, announced on Thursday afternoon that their fighters targeted ''Tel Aviv'' with missile barrages in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians.

''We bombard the city of ''Tel Aviv'' deep inside the occupied territories with a barrage of ''Maqadma'' M90 rockets in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians,'' Martyr Izz El-Din al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement.

This attack is the resistance's first response to the Zionist entity's violation of the ceasefire, which resulted over 710 deaders in the last three days.

It also comes after the occupation's renewed ground invasion into Beit Lahia this morning, and the failure of the mediators and the world to curb the occupation's aggression.

Three rockets fired from Gaza at Tel Aviv

[IsraelTimes] Rocket sirens blared in Tel Aviv on Thursday afternoon after three long-range rockets were launched from the southern Gaza Strip at Israel, the first time rockets were launched from Gaza at central Israel in over five months.

One of the rockets was intercepted by air defenses, while the other two struck open areas, according to the military. No injuries were caused, though several pieces of shrapnel hit areas of Rishon Lezion. It was unclear whether they’d broken off of the Hamas rockets or the interceptors, but no major damage was caused.

The Hamas terror group claimed responsibility for the attack.

IDF says it killed two senior Hamas leaders in Gaza strikes

[IsraelTimes] The IDF and Shin Bet announce that another two top Hamas officials were killed in airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.

One is named by the military as Rashid Jahjouh, the head of Hamas’s “general security mechanism.” Jahjouh had replaced Sami Odeh, who was killed, along with other top Hamas officials, in an Israeli airstrike in July 2024.

Another top Hamas official killed in a recent airstrike in Gaza is named by the IDF as Amin Eslaiah, the head of the security mechanism in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis.

The security mechanism, according to the military, is a clandestine Hamas body responsible for uncovering “collaborators” with Israel; security for top Hamas officials and assets in Gaza and outside of the Strip; and oppression of opponents to Hamas’s rule.

The mechanism is also charged with building intelligence pictures for top Hamas officials on which they could make decisions, the IDF says.

Jahjouh, as part of his role, was also responsible for Hamas’s internal propaganda.

Separately, the military says that a strike killed a prominent Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative involved in smuggling weapons to the terror group.

Ismail Abd al-Alal, according to the IDF, “led most of the weapon smuggling efforts for the PIJ in recent years.”

Central bank says Israel’s open economy offset Turkish trade ban
[IsraelTimes] Turkey’s trade ban has had minimal impact on Israel’s economy and prices, the central bank says in a report, citing the flexibility of country’s open economy.

Turkey severed trade with Israel last year over its war in Gaza with Hamas and has remained an outspoken critic of Israel’s policies.

Prior to the war, which was triggered by Hamas’s attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, which killed some 1,200 people and saw another 251 taken hostage, Turkish exports to Israel totaled $5.3 billion in 2023, 6.3% of Israel’s total imports, the Bank of Israel notes.

But Turkey was an important source of imports in construction products such as cement as well as iron and steel. Some 824,000 Israelis visited Turkey in 2022, the bank says citing official Turkish statistics.

Israeli exports to Turkey were $1.5 billion in 2023, 2.5% of Israel’s total exports.

“The Turkish embargo’s impact on imports and prices of imports to Israel was limited,” the Bank of Israel says in its analysis. “This illustrates the importance of functioning markets and liberal trade policies in creating economic security, as well as the difficulty of individual countries to use trade restrictions on tradable goods as a political tool.”

It added that Israel found substitutes for Turkish products that were halted, and that alternate sources of cement came without higher prices even though most cement exports came from Turkey before the ban, underscoring “the limited impact of the embargo.”

“Economic openness and the diversification of import sources — rather than isolation and domestic production — provided a solution to trade restrictions on tradable goods with a well-functioning international market,” the central bank said.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] On March 20, US Air Force aircraft carried out a series of airstrikes on targets of the Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) in the province of Al-Hodeidah in western Yemen. This was reported by the Al Masirah TV channel controlled by the organization.

“The American enemy carried out four airstrikes on the Al-Katib area in the Al-Mina district,” the article says.

There is no information about the dead, injured or damaged.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the US launched a large-scale operation against the Houthis on March 15. American forces launched strikes on the western regions of Yemen. The next day, Ansar Allah responded by attacking the US Navy aircraft carrier Harry Truman in the Red Sea with drones and missiles.

On March 17, the Houthis attacked the Harry Truman a second time, using ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. On March 18, the Shiite movement attacked the aircraft carrier a third time, launching missiles and drones at it.

Targeting Ports Harboring Sanctioned Iranian Tankers 'Saved a Lot of Lives', We Can Do It Again 'Swiftly'
[Breitbart] On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that when ports that harbored sanctioned Iranian tankers were targeted during the first Trump term, it significantly decreased Iranian oil experts and this “stopped significant money flowing to terrorists and saved a lot of lives around the world.” And that if the decision is made to bring that policy back in the second Trump term, “it can be executed swiftly.”
Is he the good cop here, or the bad cop?
Host Bret Baier asked, [relevant exchange begins around 8:30] “Last April, Congress passed a new Iran sanctions law called the SHIP Act targeting ports that harbor sanctioned Iranian tankers. Experts said it could bring a new level of maximum pressure against Iranian oil. But the Biden administration didn’t ever roll that out. Are you going to do that?”

Wright answered, “Trump, in his first administration, President Trump did exactly that. And Iranian exports dropped by 75%, huge financial squeeze on them, stopped significant money flowing to terrorists and saved a lot of lives around the world. Can that be done again? Absolutely. Absolutely that can be done. And if that foreign policy decision is made to do that, it can be executed swiftly.”

Itamar Ben Gvir reappointed Minister of National Security in Zionist entity
So many, many scare quotes in this one. Someone is just a tad overexcited…
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Zionist ''Knesset'' approved, on Wednesday, the return of ''Ben Gvir'' and his party ''Otzma Yehudit'' to the government of the occupation entity.

Earlier, a statement from ''Benjamin Netanyahu's'' office mentioned that the government had agreed to a proposal to reappoint ''Itamar Ben Gvir'' as Minister of National Security.

''Ben Gvir'' announced his return to ''Netanyahu's government'' after the resumption of the occupation forces' aggression on the Gazoo

Malaysia to accept 15 released Palestinian security prisoners
[IsraelTimes] Malaysia says it will accept 15 Palestinians who were released from Israeli jails and exiled as part of the January ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan says in remarks published today in The Star newspaper that the move was a small contribution from Malaysia, a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause, to ensure peace in Gaza.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil tells local media that security agencies would strictly monitor the Palestinians’ movement once they arrive.

Many of those released were serving life sentences for terror attacks, including orchestrating suicide bombings.

Israel freed thousands of Palestinian in return for several hostages held by terror groups in Gaza, but insisted that some of the worst offenders be exiled outside of the West Bank or Gaza Strip

L.A. Faces 'Inevitable' Layoffs of Thousands of City Employees Due $1 Billion Deficit
Consequences. The can can’t be kicked down the road any longer.
[Breitbart] The City of Los Angeles is bracing for layoffs of thousands of municipal employees due to a budget crisis that is said to be “inevitable,” as the city is reeling from recent wildfires and still preparing to host the 2028 Summer Olympics.
If only they had a DOGE of their own, the deficit would be wiped out and the city saved. Or if they hadn’t kept electing corrupt Democrats. Oh well…
The Los Angeles Times reported:

L.A.’s financial problems exploded into a full-blown crisis on Wednesday, with the city’s top budget official announcing that next year’s shortfall is now just shy of $1 billion, making layoffs “nearly inevitable.”

City Administrative Officer Matt Szabo advised the City Council to focus on cost-cutting measures, including a potential reduction in the size of the workforce, to bring the budget into balance for 2025-26.

Szabo, in his presentation to the council Wednesday, attributed the city’s financial woes, in part, to increased spending on legal payouts, which have ballooned over the past few years. Tax revenues have been coming in much weaker than expected — and are expected to soften further in the upcoming budget year, which starts July 1.

Mayor Karen Bass put a positive spin on the shortfall, issuing a press statement hailing the opportunity to make “fundamental change in the way the City operates” and promising to “reduce spending significantly while protecting essential services.” Bass blamed the Palisades Fire, which not only required more emergency spending, but also reduced the city’s property tax base. She called for “sweeping structural reform of the City’s budget and operations.”

She wrote a letter to Szabo, telling him to produce a budget that would save between $500 million and $900 million.

While struggling with a staggering budget deficit, the City Council voted unanimously in November to become a “sanctuary city,” welcoming illegal migrants despite the fact that they consume more of the city’s scarce services.

It is unclear how L.A. will prepare for the challenge of hosting the Olympic Games while city budgets continue to fall.

Los Angeles is not alone: San Francisco also faces a $1 billion deficit, despite hundreds of millions of dollars being pumped into the city by the Biden administration’s spending, which came at the end of the coronavirus pandemic.

India-Pakistan
Will import duty war push India to open its markets?
[BBC] India has usually turned to economic reforms in times of distress, with the most famous example being 1991, when the country embraced liberalisation in the face of a deep financial crisis.

Now, with US President Donald Trump's tit-for-tat tariff wars and the global trade upheaval that has followed, many believe that India finds itself at another crossroad.

Could this be a major opportunity for the world's fifth largest economy to shed its protectionism and further open up its economy? Will India seize the moment, just as it did more than three decades ago, or will it retreat further?

Trump has repeatedly branded India a "tariff king" and a "big abuser" of trade ties. The problem is that India's trade-weighted import duties - the average duty rate per imported product - are among the highest in the world. The US average tariff is 2.2%, China's is 3% and Japan's is 1.7%. India's stands at a whopping 12%, according to data from the World Trade Organization.

High tariffs increase costs for companies dependent on global value chains, hindering their ability to compete in international markets. They also mean that Indians pay more on imported goods than foreign consumers. Despite growing exports - primarily driven by services - India runs a significant trade deficit. However, with India's share of global exports at a mere 1.5%, the challenge becomes even more urgent.

The jury is out on whether Trump's tariff war will help India break free or double down on protectionism. Narendra Modi's government, often criticised for its protectionist stance, already seems to have shifted gears.

Getty Images India portGetty Images

Despite growing exports, India runs a significant trade deficit

Last month, ahead of Prime Minister Modi's meeting with Trump in Washington, India unilaterally lowered tariffs on Bourbon whiskey, motorcycles and some other US products.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has made two trips to the US to discuss a potential trade deal, following Trump's threatened retaliatory tariffs, looming on 2 April. (Citi Research analysts estimate India could lose up to $7bn annually from reciprocal tariffs, primarily affecting sectors like metals, chemicals and jewellery, with pharmaceuticals, automobiles and food products also at risk.)

Last week, Goyal urged Indian exporters to "come out of their protectionist mindset and encouraged them to be bold and ready to deal with the world from a position of strength and self-confidence", according to a statement from his ministry.

India is also actively pursuing free trade deals with several countries, including the UK and New Zealand, and the European Union.

In an interesting turn of events, homegrown telecoms giants Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have teamed up with Trump ally Elon Musk's SpaceX to launch satellite internet services via Starlink in India. The move surprised analysts, especially after Musk's recent clashes with both companies, and came as US and Indian officials negotiate the trade deal.

India's rapid growth from the late 1990s to the 2000s - 8.1% between 2004-2009 and 7.46% from 2009-2014 - was in large part driven by its gradual integration into global markets, particularly in pharmaceuticals, software, autos, textiles and garments, alongside a steady reduction in tariffs. Since then, India has turned inwards.

Many economists believe that protectionist policies over the past decade have undermined Modi's Make in India initiative, which prioritised capital- and technology-intensive sectors over labour-intensive ones like textiles. As a result, it has struggled to boost manufacturing and exports.

High tariffs have also fostered protectionism in several Indian industries, discouraging investments in efficiency, according to Viral Acharya, a professor of economics at New York University Stern School of Business.

This has allowed "cosy incumbents" to gain market power by consolidating their positions without facing much competition. As Mr Acharya, a former central banker, noted in a paper by Brookings Institution, restoring industrial balance in India requires "reducing tariffs to increase the country's share of global goods trade and reduce protectionism".

With India's tariffs already higher than those of most countries, further increases could be especially damaging.

"We need to boost exports and a tit-for-tat tariff war won't help us. China can afford this strategy due to its massive export base, but we can't, as we hold only a small share of the global market," Rajeswari Sengupta, an associate professor of economics at Mumbai-based Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, said. "A trade conflict could hurt us more than others."

Little Big Man: The 2nd Amendment is Obsolete, Said Congressman Who Wanted To Nuke Omaha
Now he’s spouting stuff while going after Musk and Tesla. The piece below is from 2018 and shows his long term outlook is still violent against all who have different points of view.
[MonsterHunterNation] Last week a congressman embarrassed himself on Twitter. He got into a debate about gun control, suggested a mandatory buyback—which is basically confiscation with a happy face sticker on it—and when someone told him that they would resist, he said resistance was futile because the government has nukes.

And everybody was like, wait, what?

Of course the congressman is now saying that using nuclear weapons on American gun owners was an exaggeration, he just wanted to rhetorically demonstrate that the all-powerful government could crush us peasants like bugs, they hold our pathetic lives in their iron hand, and he’d never ever advocate for the use of nuclear weapons on American soil (that would be bad for the environment!), and instead he merely wants to send a SWAT team to your house to shoot you in the face if you don’t comply.

See? That’s way better.

But this post isn’t about that particular line from one foolish congressman. It’s about all of the silly left wing memes that have popped up since, trying to justify the congressman’s basic premise that the 2nd Amendment is obsolete for resisting tyranny, and the government would obliterate anyone who failed to comply. Like this one:...
Head to the article at the title link for the rest of this story except for the following extract so you can see the IDIOT DEMON-CRAT CONGRESS-CRITTER'S NAME.
Okay, so let’s say Congressman Swalwell gets his wish, and the government says turn them in or else.
The honourable gentleman from California talks big — especially when drunk — but fortunately he has no control over the nation’s weapons or much of anything else. Despite that particular bit of political stupidity, not to mention his earlier association with the lovely honeypot spy from China, Miss Fang Fang, and his current obsession with Teslas, his constituents send the former prosecutor back to the House in each election with overwhelming majorities. Besides, anything by Larry Correia is worth rereading for the sheer joy of his invective.

Smoke and Mirrors - Magic Money
[GatewayPundit] Elon Musk, the tech billionaire and now self-proclaimed advocate for government efficiency, has revealed a stunning financial scandal hidden within the depths of our government.

Speaking on Senator Ted Cruz’s Verdict podcast, Musk disclosed the existence of what he calls “magic money computers.”

During the explosive interview, Musk explained how these government computers can conjure up trillions of dollars out of thin air—completely detached from a synchronized network.

According to Musk, 14 such machines have been uncovered across various agencies, mostly at the Treasury Department, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Defense (DOD), and even the State Department.

Musk’s revelations suggest that federal spending is even more chaotic and reckless than the public realizes. With multiple “magic money computers” operating independently, government agencies are issuing massive payments that don’t add up to the numbers being reported to Congress or the American people.

AI chipmaker Nvidia to invest billions in US amid Trump onshoring push: CEO
[FoxBusinessNews] Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Wednesday that the leading artificial intelligence chipmaker will invest hundreds of billions of dollars in the U.S. supply chain over the next four years.

Huang made the announcement in an interview with the Financial Times. It follows moves by other technology companies, including Apple, which are unveiling multibillion-dollar investments in onshoring plans, as President Donald Trump's administration implements its "America First" policies, and following the Republican's Made in America campaign promise.

"Overall, we will procure, over the course of the next four years, probably half a trillion dollars worth of electronics in total," Huang reportedly told the FT. "And I think we can easily see ourselves manufacturing several hundred billion of it here in the US."

Huang said the increased U.S. production would be possible through suppliers such as the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and Foxconn. Huawei in China poses a growing competitive threat, Huang told the FT, adding that he was confident in the Trump administration's ability to form policy to speed up the AI industry in the U.S.

Transgender runner blows out competition, sets season records in girls' races at Oregon high school track meet
[FoxNews] Ada Gallagher and McDaniel High School came under fire after beating her competition last year as well.

The same Oregon high school that came under fire last year for allowing a transgender athlete to compete against girls continues to blow away the competition one year later.

Ada Gallagher, running as a 10th-grader at McDaniel High School in Portland, finished in first place in 200M and 400M races during the 6A-1 Portland Interscholastic League Championship in 2024.

Now an 11th-grader, Gallagher was back on the track for a Portland Interscholastic League meet at her home track, where she was spotted blowing out the competition, especially in the 400M, where she finished more than seven seconds better than the rest of the field.

Both times for Gallagher were season records.

As the video of the races began to circulate on social media, commenters began to speak their piece.

"That experience must be so demoralizing for those girls," one X user said. "…You'll look back later and be much more infuriated, especially if you have children of your own." Another added, "The girls should all just start refusing to run and it will soon end."

The Oregon School Activities Association, the governing body for the Portland Interscholastic League, has a gender identity participation policy that "allows students to participate for the athletic or activity program of their consistently asserted gender identity while providing a fair and safe environment for all students."

"As with Rule 8.2 regarding Duration of Eligibility / Graduation, rules such as this one promote harmony and fair competition among member schools by maintaining equality of eligibility and increase the number of students who will have an opportunity to participate in interscholastic activities," the rulebook adds.

President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14201, better known as "Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports," was signed to "protect female student athletes, in the women’s category, from having to ‘compete with or against or having to appear unclothed before males.’"

When Trump signed the order last month, Oregon Republicans were delighted, with House Minority Leader Christine Drazan saying she would introduce a bill to rewrite policies in high school athletics.

"Women have fought for — and earned — respect and support for themselves in sports and have made incredible gains in doing so. We must defend that progress and stand up for fairness." Drazan said in a statement released on National Girls and Women’s in Sports Day, per Oregon Public Broadcasting.

front man Abdul Latif al-Qanou, confirmed on Thursday that negotiations with mediators are ongoing to halt the aggression against our people, ensure the occupation's commitment to the agreement, and force it to abandon its plans.

''We remain committed to the ceasefire agreement and are working with mediators to permanently spare our people from war and secure the occupation's withdrawal from Gazoo

,'' al-Qanou said in a statement.

''The siege, starvation, and genocide in Gaza demand urgent action from the Arab League

and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to save our people from annihilation, prevent their starvation, and lift the blockade,'' he stressed.

On Wednesday, al-Qanou stated that any ''any proposal based on entering negotiations for the second phase and achieving a permanent ceasefire is welcome and open for discussion.''

He added, ''We are keen to stop the bloodshed and open to any efforts that lead to a permanent end to the war and the withdrawal from Gaza.''

Since Tuesday, the occupation authorities have launched a violent mostly peaceful and intensive assault, targeting civilian homes in the Gaza Strip, announcing the resumption of the war amid a suffocating blockade and a severe shortage of necessary medical equipment and supplies.

Senior Hamas official says that group has shown enough flexibility in negotiations for ceasefire to resume
“…and a pony!”
[IsraelTimes] Senior Hamas official Taher al-Nunu tells Al-Jazeera that indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas to reach a renewed ceasefire have not stopped, and efforts to reach a point that would allow the deal to be put back into effect are ongoing.

According to al-Nunu, Hamas has shown sufficient flexibility to resume the agreement, but Israel has refused these attempts.
Translating into Arabic: No you have not.
Israel resumed fighting in Gaza earlier this week after talks for a temporary extension to the first phase of a multi-stage ceasefire and hostage release deal failed, with Hamas insisting it would not deviate from the agreed-upon second phase of the truce.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has since declared that any further negotiations with Hamas will only take place “under fire.”

Is this a big deal or is this just another case of the Israeli Deep State trying to take Bibi Netanyahu down by any means possible, as they’ve been twisting and turning to do since he became prime minister for the second time in 2009? With the various wars Israel is currently fighting — or war fronts, anyway — I’ve been ignoring this situation. Perhaps I should not have done so.
[REGNUM] The scandal over leaks of confidential data from the Israeli prime minister's office (known as the Feldstein affair) continues to gather momentum. Now it involves one of the powerful monarchies of the Persian Gulf.

Despite the fact that the case is hidden under the heading of “special investigation”, imposed by the special services at the initial stage, information about individual turns of the investigation periodically becomes public knowledge.

In particular, recently new major figures have become known – the investigation has involved not only the Israeli political class, but also the business community.

The Feldstein scandal has long gone beyond a simple investigation into abuse of office and has acquired the colorful name “Qatargate,” with a hint that the investigation could end with the resignation of the country’s top officials.

However, potential defendants in “Qatargate” are also in no hurry to give up without a fight.

THE CRUX OF THE MATTER
Israeli Prime Minister Eliezer Feldstein, a top aide, was arrested in November 2024. According to investigators, he was involved in the transfer of confidential documents to the foreign press, bypassing military censorship, and also organized “insider leaks” from high offices.

Allegedly, this was done with the permission of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself, who was thus “fighting fakes” about Israel’s foreign and domestic policies.

Later, the scope of the case expanded significantly - the number of defendants increased to five, and most of them turned out to be connected in one way or another with the prime minister's office.

It also turned out that Feldstein managed not only to pass on confidential documents, but also to consult (based on the same documents) the Qatari authorities, helping the monarchy become a key intermediary in the return of Israeli hostages.

Given the close ties between Doha and Hamas, this turn of events seriously shook the Israeli public and sparked speculation about the real extent of the damage to national security. However, as it turned out later, it was far from the last.

COMPLEX SCHEME
The new public figure is Israeli businessman Gil Birger, who works with the Gulf states. It was he who paid Feldstein fees for his work on improving Doha's image when he combined work for the prime minister's office and political consulting.

However, as Birger himself claims, he was only a link in a complex lobbying scheme. Thus, the main services to Qatar - including the development of a strategy for "whitewashing" the reputation - were provided by the American political consultant Jay Footlick, who officially worked for the Qatari government. He was also the initiator of hiring Feldstein.

However, due to the complexities of tax legislation and the organization of transfers from Qatar to Israel, the lobbyist asked Birger to act as an "accountant" for their mini-enterprise for some time. The parties cooperated in this manner for several months.

Despite the fact that Birger's testimony is largely indirectly confirmed by the testimony of witnesses, as well as by the materials of the intelligence services' own investigation, the businessman clearly downplayed his participation in "Qatargate".

In particular, he did not mention that he and Futlik are connected with the arrested Netanyahu supporters from the Likud party, including through cooperation in several election campaigns, as well as participation – albeit very indirectly – in the development of shadow channels of trade between Israel and the Arabian monarchies.

In addition, according to the testimony of individual witnesses, Futlik allegedly worked with representatives of Hamas, seeking (albeit, apparently, unsuccessfully) the release of Israeli hostages for generous profits to individual field commanders.

It would hardly have been possible to take such a risky step without the approval of higher-ups. And it would hardly have been possible for a lobbyist working in the interests of Qatar to do so at his own expense.

CONFLICT WITH COUNTERINTELLIGENCE
There are many among the Israeli elites who are trying to extract additional dividends from the Feldstein affair. Especially in the context of the scandal affecting the reputation of the “unsinkable” Netanyahu, whose role in the schemes of the arrested political strategists is still unclear.

Among those in favor of “shaking up” the prime minister’s office is the head of the General Security Service (Shabaq), Ronen Bar, who has been authorized by the authorities to investigate the high-profile case.

Bar's dissatisfaction is partly dictated by wounded professional pride. The Shin Bet chief was one of the leaders of the official negotiating team with Hamas for a year and a half. He regularly encountered criticism from the authorities because the dialogue had reached a dead end, and several times found himself on the verge of resignation because of this.

The information that the prime minister’s office was playing its own diplomatic game behind his back – not always taking into account national interests and even contradicting the statements of official negotiators – was an unpleasant discovery for him.

The Shin Bet chief was among the first to voice the term "Qatargate", transparently hinting at the real scale of the damage done to the country. Netanyahu's attempts to quickly remove Bar from his post under the pretext of incompetence only made things worse.

Many believed that the Israeli prime minister was trying to hinder the investigation and hush up Qatargate. The country was rocked by protests in support of the high-ranking counterintelligence officer.

PRIME MINISTER ASKS FOR AUDIT
As for Netanyahu himself, he is in no hurry to comment on the voiced accusations, apparently working out an escape route.

The prime minister does indeed have reason to be concerned - Feldstein's lawyers unanimously insist that their client was not aware of the real state of affairs and believed that he was acting on the prime minister's instructions, receiving fees from him - simply in the form of a "gray" salary.

He is echoed by businessman Birger, who stated that “Qatari money” allegedly went to pay salaries to office employees on Netanyahu’s orders, and none of those accused in “Qatargate” intentionally cooperated with the authorities of a foreign country.

This approach raises the risk of a broader audit of Netanyahu's office's financial flows over the past year - something the government may well decide to do under growing public pressure.

The risk that the "Qatargate" that has become public knowledge will in fact turn out to be only a small part of political schemes and multi-move schemes is not illusory. And Netanyahu himself will have to justify them.

Arabia
Yemeni forces target Ben Gurion Airport, strike USS Harry Truman — Hodhod Yemen News Agency
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i Armed Forces announced on Thursday morning the launching of a hypersonic ballistic missile at Ben Gurion Airport in occupied Jaffa. They also carried out a large-scale attack on the USS Harry Truman and its strike group for the fifth consecutive day.

The Yemeni armed forces issued the following statement:

''In support of the oppressed Paleostinian people and in response to the massacres committed by the criminal Zionist enemy against our brothers in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip, the missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a qualitative military operation targeting ''Ben Gurion Airport'' in occupied Yafa using a hypersonic ballistic missile of the ''Paleostine-2'' type. By the grace of Allah, the operation successfully achieved its objective.
It all depends on the objective, I suppose. If it was to launch the thing, they did indeed succeed. But given that the Israelis shot it down before it reached Israeli airspace, clearly once again Allah prefers for some reason to protect the Jooooos rather than further the war aims of the Moslems who assume they are his best beloveds.
For the fifth consecutive day, our armed forces, with Allah's help, continue to effectively and responsibly confront the American aggression against Yemen, the land of faith and wisdom, which in the past hours has targeted civilian facilities and sites in the capital, Sana'a, and in several other provinces.

In response, the armed forces escalated operations targeting hostile warships in the Red Sea, including the American aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and its accompanying naval units. This operation was executed by the missile force, naval forces, and the drone air force using a number of ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones. By Allah's grace, the operation achieved its objectives successfully.

The Yemeni Armed Forces affirm that the American enemy will fail in preventing Yemen from targeting the Zionist enemy in response to its massacres against our brothers in Gaza. Intensified air operations and additional Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s will not deter Yemen and its people from fulfilling their religious and moral duty toward the oppressed Paleostinian people.

The armed forces remain committed, with reliance on Allah, to preventing Zionist navigation and supporting our brothers in Gaza until the aggression ceases and the siege on the Paleostinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted.''

Volgograd Mufti's Speech Demonstrates Contradictions Among Muslims
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] There is no unity among Russian Muslims in their assessment of events in the Middle East, and many representatives of the clergy, unlike the mufti of the Volgograd region, prefer not to speak out on this matter, experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" indicated.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", the mufti of the Volgograd region Mohamad Bata Kivakh faced criticism from some of his fellow believers after he published an appeal in connection with the events in Syria. According to the mufti, he received "many insults from Muslims". A native of Syria studying in Volgograd recorded a video apologizing for his reaction to the mufti's words about the events in the Middle East.

"The address of the Mufti of the Volgograd Region on the genocide in Syria" was published on the Mufti's Telegram channel on March 13. It says that in the Syrian provinces of Latakia, Jabla and Tartus, "civilians, including Christians, became victims of a brutal genocide" organized by groups associated with terrorist organizations.

"Men, women, the elderly and children were mercilessly exterminated. According to sources, about 10 thousand people died as a result of these terrible events. All these crimes were committed under the banner of Islam, but those responsible for them have nothing to do with the true faith. They are real monsters and criminals," the Mufti wrote and called for "spreading calls for peace, as well as praying for the people of Syria."

The conflict that arose around the video address of Mufti Mohammad Bat Kivakh was commented on for the "Caucasian Knot" by international law expert Roman Melnichenko, human rights activist Alexander Verkhovsky, Islamic scholar Muslim Yunusov and his colleague, who wished to remain anonymous.

To accurately assess the situation surrounding the appeal of the Volgograd mufti, “it is necessary to leave the Christian paradigm, in which the majority of Russians find themselves in one way or another,” Melnichenko believes.

"In Muslim culture, there are no intermediaries between the faithful and God, and everyone is responsible for themselves, and therefore, for example, a mufti is a simple Muslim, equal to others, who simply performs certain functions that the Muslim community has endowed him with. Hence our surprise at the active expression by Muslims of various positions, including those different from the positions of the Muslim "leadership". But this should not be regarded as attacks against the authorities," he explained.

The form of expression of a Muslim's position on current issues, according to the expert, can be "quite harsh, but it rarely leads to any real irreparable steps." Transferring the conflict to the legal plane with the use of articles of the criminal code, such as the threat of murder or causing serious bodily harm, is unlikely here, according to Melnichenko's assumption, "since the criminal article is applied if there are grounds to fear the implementation of this threat."

"Comments, even very harsh ones, do not give grounds for such concerns. As for the public apology, this should also be looked at from the position of Muslims, where public speech has a very high value. A speech given by a real Muslim means exactly what it means, in this case, his repentance," said Roman Melnichenko .

Only investigators, prosecutors or judges in criminal cases, for example, under the article on threats to murder, can give a legal assessment of the threats to Mohamad Bata Kivah from anonymous commentators on his video message, believes Alexander Verkhovsky .

"It is not just experts who can find signs of extremism in such comments and threats to the mufti, but rather employees of investigative, supervisory and judicial bodies. But I doubt that such a criminal case will be opened, since identifying commentators is an extremely difficult task, and investigators do not need "cold cases". The same applies to signs of terrorist activity," said Alexander Verkhovsky.

As of 05:50 Moscow time on March 20, there were 3,521 comments under the publication with the appeal of the Volgograd mufti, however, among these comments there are no longer those that contain direct insults, threats or support for violence. The publication V1.ru wrote earlier that comments justifying violence and cruelty were deleted. The authors of some comments under the appeal of Mohamad Bat Kivah indicate that they have encountered such statements. "The first Muslim who condemned these murders. In the chats, many Muslims are either silent, or approve or justify," wrote messenger user Julia Lapulya on March 14.

There are several Muslim spiritual directorates in Russia, and all of them, including muftis, "refrain from commenting on the events in Syria," said an Islamic scholar who wished to remain anonymous.

"Only a few people spoke out. One from Stavropol, we know. And here - from Volgograd Oblast. In our Muslim community (in Russia) there is no unity on this issue," the expert admitted, pointing out the inadmissibility of violence against civilians, "no matter what faith people are." Violence against civilians is allowed by representatives of so-called radical Islamist groups, the Islamologist noted.

Deputy Mufti of Stavropol Krai Shahabuddin Guseinov, speaking at a video conference with journalist Maxim Shevchenko, referred to friends and colleagues from Syria, stating that hundreds of thousands of citizens are going out to demonstrate in support of the new government, and the killings of unarmed people are happening "naturally", but not by order of the authorities, but by the whim of "looters and bandits". On March 10, the Telegram channel of the DUM of Stavropol Krai reported that Guseinov was dismissed from his post back in February and "has nothing to do with the government". On March 12, the channel of the DUM of Stavropol Krai published a message about "deep condolences to the people of Syria in connection with the tragic death of innocent people". "One of the largest tragedies in the country's modern history has occurred on the western coast of Syria. Militants have carried out mass reprisals against civilians. Several thousand civilians, including women and children, have fallen victim to these attacks," the publication says.

Astrakhan Islamic scholar Muslim Yunusov noted that "there is practically no military conflict in the history of wars where civilians have not suffered." "We know that, unfortunately, it is mostly civilians who die in wars," he stated.

According to Yunusov, one should refrain from evaluative and critical judgments regarding the current situation in Syria, since such judgments will not help stabilize the situation.

"We are currently closely monitoring the processes that are taking place there. Now, those forces that came to power in long-suffering Syria are trying to find a consensus among themselves in order to finally establish peaceful life in the country. There is no need to make any harsh statements yet," Muslim Yunusov said.

On March 9, the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Russia published on its website an appeal to the forces that came to power in Syria to "find opportunities to establish an intra-national dialogue, establish mechanisms to take into account the opinions and interests of religious minorities." The events, which claimed "hundreds and thousands of civilians," were called "a real tragedy" in this publication, but the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Russia refrained from condemning them. "Sympathizing and empathizing with all the victims of the Syrian civil strife, we call on all parties to show the will to compromise, peace and harmony," the text says. On March 13, the Telegram channel of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Russia reported that the head of the directorate, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, speaking at a diplomatic iftar, "called on the Syrian authorities to show the best qualities of Muslims."

Suri's attorney Hassan Ahmad has filed a petition in federal court in Virginia on Tuesday calling for his release, likening the case to that of Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil, Politico reports.

He claimed his client is only being targeted because his wife is a Paleostinian, noting they have 'long been doxxed and smeared' for their support of Paleostinian rights.

The Department of Homeland Security, however, alleges Suri been involved in 'actively spreading Hamas propaganda' and 'promoting antisemitism'.

, according to Campus Watch.

'Suri was a foreign exchange student at Georgetown University actively spreading Hamas propaganda and promoting antisemitism on social media,' a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson told Fox News.

'Suri has close connections to a known or suspected terrorist, who is a senior advisor to Hamas.

'The Secretary of State issued a determination on March 15, 2025 that Suri’s activities and presence in the United States rendered him deportable under INA section 237(a)(4)(C)(i).'

Suri endorsed Hamas online even though his Georgetown bio says he focuses his studies on the 'grinding of the peace processor in the Middle East.'

In one now-deleted post, he reportedly denied reports of the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

'Three lies by Israeli occupation, no proof whatsoever of babies beheaded, rapes or mass killing at carnival,' the postdoctoral student, who also teaches a class on majority and minority rights in South Asia, wrote at the time, according to Campus Watch.

In another post from years ago, Suri reportedly expressed support for Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmed Yasin.

He is said to have posted a video saying, 'This is what Hamas argues. Sheikh Yaseen giving the reasons why his group is fighting for their land which was stolen.'

Suri even reportedly posted a video showing Hamas forces of Evil holding Israeli child hostages, writing: 'This is how Hamas men deal with kids on Oct. 7.'

His wife, a US citizen, has also spoken out on social media about her support for the terrorist group, and spoke about her role in Hamas' government.

She told Arabic-language media that she served with the terror group's Committee to Break the Siege in Gaza - which happened to be chaired by her father, the National Review reports.

At one point, she even reportedly expressed her hatred for her adopted country, declaring in Arabic on Instagram: 'America is the plague.'

On Monday, agents informed Suri they were with the Department of Homeland Security, and told him that his student visa has been revoked, a petition for his release claims.

It says Suri was put in deportation proceedings under the same provision of immigration law that the Trump administration invoked to try to deport Khalil.

The provision gives the Secretary of State the power to deport noncitizens if he or she determines that their continued presence in the United States would threaten foreign policy - though Suri has not been charged with a crime in the United States.

Following his arrest on Monday, Suri was taken to a facility in Virginia and is expected to be transferred soon to a detention center in Texas.

As of Wednesday night, an online locator for immigration detainees showed he was at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement staging center at an airport in Alexandria, Louisiana, Politico reports.

His lawyer Hassan Ahmad said he has not been able to contact his client since he was detained, and said he is now unsure whether he will have to refile Suri's petition for release in Louisiana.

Ahmad told Politico he is prepared 'to do whatever we can to release our client from detention and afford him due process.'

He then went on to hit out at the Trump administration for Suri's arrest.

'This is just another example of our government abducting people the same way they kidnapped Khalil,' Ahmad argued.

Khalil's case has become a flashpoint for Trump's pledge to deport activists who participated in the wave of protests on US college campuses against Israel's military assault on Gaza.

The Trump administration has argued pro-Paleostinian protests on college campuses have included support for Hamas and anti-Semitic harassment of Jewish students.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio
...The diminutive 13-year-old Republican U.S. Senator from Florida, Secretary of State in the second Trump administration...
, though, has fired back at critics of Khalil's arrest, saying that it is 'not about free speech.'

'When you come to the United States as a visitor, which is what a visa is, which is how this individual entered this country, on a visitor's visa, you are here as a visitor. We can deny you that visa,' the U.S. top diplomat argued.

If someone said they intended to come to the U.S. as a student 'and rile up all kinds of anti-Jewish student, anti-Semitic activities' and shut down universities, they would be denied the visa, Rubio said.

He added: 'If you actually end up doing that once you're in this country on such a visa, we will revoke it.'

'This is not about free speech. This is about people who don't have the right to be in the United States to begin with,' the secretary of state said.

'No one has a right to a student visa. No one has a right to a green card,' Rubio added.

He said the U.S. can deny one for 'virtually any reason.'

In a statement to DailyMail.com, Georgetown University said it was not aware of Suri engaging in illegal activity.

'Dr. Khan Suri is an Indian national who was duly granted a visa to enter the United States to continue his doctoral research on peacebuilding in Iraq and Afghanistan.

'We are not aware of him engaging in any illegal activity, and we have not received a reason for his detention.

'We support our community members' rights to free and open inquiry, deliberation and debate, even if the underlying ideas may be difficult, controversial or objectionable. We expect the legal system to adjudicate this case fairly.'

Judge bars US from deporting Georgetown student detained for alleged Hamas ties
Of course. It will be fun when something is done about these activist Progressive judges sticking their rulings where they don’t belong.
[IsraelTimes] A federal judge has ordered US President Donald Trump’s administration not to deport Badar Khan Suri, an Indian man studying at Washington’s Georgetown University whose lawyer says the United States is seeking to remove him after it accused him of harming American foreign policy.

According to the three-paragraph order by US District Judge Patricia Giles in Alexandria, Virginia, the order will remain in effect until lifted by the court.

The Department of Homeland Security has accused Badar Khan Suri of ties to the Palestinian terror group Hamas and said he had spread Hamas propaganda and antisemitism on social media. On March 15, Secretary of State Marco Rubio determined Suri could be deported for those activities, according to DHS.

Suri is living in the US on a student visa, married to an American citizen, and has been detained in Alexandria, Louisiana, according to his lawyer. He is awaiting a court date in immigration court, his lawyer says.

Federal agents arrested him outside his home in Rosslyn, Virginia, on Monday night. The lawyer welcomes Thursday’s ruling and calls it “the first bit of due process Dr. Khan Suri has received since he was snatched from his family Monday night.”

DHS doesn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday’s court order.

#1  About...30%...of this country no longer supports the United States of America.

We could continue to be "polite" to them. Or we could just stop with the charade.

White women litter a significant population within mainstream liberal "Christian" denominations. They speak...a lot...in support of abortion, open borders, trans topics, "Palestine", etc.

When are we going to stop letting this nonsense continue unchallenged?

Abortion is a sin and the murder of one of God's children.

Open borders is a "Caesar" issue. Christ instructed us to render unto Caesar that which is due unto Caesar.

The support of trans identity is a sin.

The support of "Palestine" is the support of terrorism and historical ignorance. Terrorism is a sin.

Clean out the pews. Seriously, who cares that they will support the bake sale if their presence is biblical *heresy*?

A *reformation* is needed within Christianity.

We properly ridicule the current state of the Catholic Church. But so many Protestant denominations need confrontation by those who understand scripture and support them with their tithes and offerings. So many Christians are giving their tithes to have that money used to fund *heresy*.

How Beria made the atomic bomb
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.

Note that Rozhin's grandfather was in the NKVD.

[ColonelCassad] I watched the domestic TV series "Atom".

It turned out to be a quite watchable comic book movie based on the Soviet nuclear project.

The main message is quite correct - under the leadership of Lavrentiy Pavlovich Beria, the Chekists, intelligence officers and scientists together implemented the nuclear project and gave the country a nuclear shield. And not only that.

Lavrentiy Pavlovich did not even shoot anyone or "grind them into camp dust", he just threatened a couple of times in the style of meme jokes like "You can be free. Bye" and a demonstration of Stalin's resolution "Calm the fool".

In general, he effectively managed a zealous fool from counterintelligence, a project curator mired in women (I can't stand Guskov at all after "4 days in May", he was a real piece of crap), infantile scientists and Germans brought from Germany.

However, in the entire series, only one character was shoved into the camp, and even then, for good reason (his personal dislike for the Germans was ruining the project), to dig a pit for a reactor under the supervision of the GULAG chief. In general, the Bloody KGB in the film looks rather positive and mainly scares, rather than punishes. It threatens with a finger, but-but, make a bomb, comrades.

Well, Fitin also looks like a smart leader (as does the intelligence line, although it is still quite crumpled), and Kurchatov is cured of infantilism somewhere in the middle and he himself begins to build scientists who do not understand where they ended up and what they are doing. When the Bloody KGB organizes everything correctly, Soviet scientists make scientific breakthroughs, and our intelligence agents drag secret documents to the USA - everything works out in the end and Lavrenty Pavlovich is happy.

Stalin is not in the film, so he is the main one here. Perhaps this is the most complimentary film about Beria of all that I have seen, although this is rather because he is not particularly scolded here, which distinguishes him favorably from the usual perestroika and post-perestroika films, where Beria is usually a "bloody executioner".

In general, if you do not take the film too seriously and do not consider all this as a manual on the history of the Soviet nuclear project (this is immediately a fibroid), then it is quite possible to watch it. A kind of comic book movie. If it were not for the sagging "love stories", it would have looked more cheerful. Some scenes are shot well, although it is obvious that the series did not have enough budget for more colorful scenes with equipment and a nuclear test.

In general, it is so-so shot, but the film has the right message. They noted the contribution of everyone - scientists, intelligence officers, and the Bloody KGB. As it was. Without any of this "contrary to".

And the fact that the authors piled up a bunch of improvisation is more a question for the script. In some moments I laughed at the stupidity of what was happening.

But I repeat, it is quite watchable.

Government Corruption
Husband of former congresswoman Cori Bush charged with wire fraud
[WaPo via MSN] The husband of former congresswoman Cori Bush (D-Missouri) has been charged in connection with more than $20,000 in payments from the pandemic-era Paycheck Protection and Economic Injury Disaster Loan programs, according to an indictment filed in D.C. federal court on Thursday.
All sorts of interesting people have been caught in this particular trap, and are finding themselves taken off the board. Despite the expense, it may well turn out to have been a worthwhile investment in cleansing the body politic, now that President Trump’s team have taken charge.
Cortney Merritts, 46, faces two counts of wire fraud for allegedly filing sham applications in 2020 and 2021 with the Small Business Administration, enabling him to collect money aimed at helping struggling businesses make payroll during the pandemic.

The indictment was signed by Ed Martin, the interim U.S. attorney for D.C., whom Trump has nominated to serve as the permanent top prosecutor in the nation’s capital. The investigation into Merritts appears to have begun during the Biden administration.

An attorney for Merritts said he plans to plead not guilty.

[Regnum] Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a message to the head of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, and in it supported efforts to quickly stabilize the situation in the country.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a message to the head of the Syrian state, Ahmed al-Sharaa, in which he supported efforts to quickly stabilize the situation in the country in the interests of ensuring its sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity," the Kremlin said in a statement published on its website.
Very noble of him. Very statesmanlike. Or possibly opportunistic — it’s not for me to say.
It is specified that the Russian leader also confirmed the Russian Federation’s continued readiness to develop practical cooperation with the Syrian authorities on all issues on the bilateral agenda to strengthen the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Syria.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on March 6, clashes broke out in the Syrian province of Latakia between supporters of the former president of the republic, Bashar al-Assad, and the forces of the new authorities of the country. Clashes also began in the province of Tartus, after which the authorities sent troops there. Three days later, clashes began in the port city of Baniyas.

Later, on March 10, Ahmed al-Sharaa stated that the new Syrian authorities were interested in maintaining deep strategic relations with Russia. He noted that against this background, the new Syrian authorities were trying to prevent a split between the countries.

On March 11, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russia wants to see Syria stable, prosperous and friendly. The Kremlin spokesman also pointed to the need to ensure stability in the republic due to the general explosiveness of the Middle East, as instability in Syria could cause a chain reaction in neighboring countries in the region.

Crocus attackers were studying the possibility of a terrorist attack on Red Square

[Regnum] Those who attacked the Crocus City Hall concert hall also studied the possibility of a terrorist attack on Red Square and in a Moscow synagogue. This was reported on March 20 by the lawyer of the accused Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev Oleg Vlasov.

"In addition to Crocus, they were on Red Square, near the synagogue not far from the Chistye Prudy metro station, in MEGA Belaya Dacha, looking around, taking pictures. They were also in Crocus itself in advance, in civilian clothes, studying the situation," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

The lawyer also reported that the perpetrators of the terrorist attack admitted to the investigation that they planned to hide in Ukraine. However, he stated that it was unknown whether anyone was waiting for them there.

On Thursday, March 20, the Moscow City Court extended the arrest period until May 22 for Mirzoev and three other defendants.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, on March 22, 2024, terrorists broke into Crocus City Hall, opened fire on visitors and employees of the concert hall and started a fire. As a result of the terrorist attack, 144 people were killed and another 551 were injured. The Investigative Committee opened several criminal cases, including under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist attack"). Four direct perpetrators, including Mirzoyev, were detained on March 23.

FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov stated that the Security Service of Ukraine was involved in the terrorist attack at Crocus. He advocated recognizing this agency as a terrorist organization.

In January 2025, the Investigative Committee reported that 27 people had been charged in the case of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall.

On March 3, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, announced the completion of the investigation. He emphasized that the investigators completed their work in less than a year. The materials were handed over to the accused and their lawyers for review.
