Sounds like the attack occurred on an outdoor patio. I don't know if the area was behind security doors or not but if not I would suspect the shooter isn't/wasn't an employee.

A good rule for writing science fiction and fantasy these days: If it’s not woke, it’s putting people to sleep. The key now is being socially conscious. Most people are regular conscious ‐ reactive to basic stimuli like sight, sound, small rocks being thrown at them ‐ but the more pertinent thing to be is socially conscious ‐ reactive to microaggressions and the racism and bigotry that undercut all human activity. And if you want people to buy your fiction these days, it needs to reflect that social consciousness ‐ as tedious as that all sounds.
I know some are resistant to this idea. You’ve probably heard this quote: "Why do I have to worry about all this political stuff? Can’t I just write fun stories everyone will enjoy?" You know who said that? That’s right: Adolf Hitler.
A lot of people don’t want to confront how closed and exclusive science fiction and fantasy have been throughout history. H.G. Wells spent a whole chapter of The Time Machine making explicit that in the future there would no longer be Irishmen. And when J. R. R. Tolkien ever had a woman do something useful in one of his stories, he always had to follow that with a note that this was a fantasy and would not happen in real life. And were later authors like Isaac Asimov or Arthur C. Clarke any better? I’m honestly asking; their books look very long, and I haven’t read them.
But you need to be better than that if you want to write today. You need to Woke-ify™ your fiction if you want to reach today’s readers. And I’m here to tell you how to do that.
#1
I don't read fiction to be preached at, by anyone. All I want is for the author to tell a good, internally consistent story. If you can't do that, then I'm happy to stop reading and toss the book.

President Trump is mad at Amazon. He thinks the retail behemoth is shortchanging the U.S. in taxes, ripping off the Post Office, and throwing "many thousands of retailers out of business." And the thing is, he's not wrong.
Mega-corporations really are strangling the American economy ‐ and it's not just Amazon.
If Americans want to restore a healthy share of economic prosperity to the U.S. hinterland ‐ the type of places that are (somewhat inaccurately) often classed as "Trump country" ‐ an attack on concentrated market power must be a key part of the equation.

[NationalReview] Let’s begin by stating the obvious. There is not a single American corporation, media entity, or adult activist who actually takes direction from David Hogg or any other Parkland victim. Every single thing they do in response to Hogg’s public comments is done willingly ‐ gleefully, even ‐ because Hogg is their tool. He’s their sword and their shield. He is their excuse for doing exactly what they want to do.
By now we know how this pitiful game works. Hogg, egged on by cheering adults, says vicious, cruel, and often false things about their political opponents, and they cheer all the louder. They love it. They quite obviously can’t get enough of it. In this way, Hogg is an expression of the liberal id, a person who "destroys" the opposition in ways that are far more savage and intended far more personally than anything you’ll see from late-night television.
That’s the sword. The shield comes when a conservative takes the bait. All the slicing and dicing and insulting and trolling causes an inevitable backlash. You get the unhinged backlash ("crisis actor"), the mean backlash (laughing at Hogg’s college-admissions struggles), and the thoughtful backlash (he’s got a right to his rage and pain, but he’s still wrong on substance). Yet for all too many activists any criticism is "attacking the Parkland kids."
Thus David Hogg becomes the unassailable Stephen Colbert, the untouchable John Oliver.

Has anyone heard of Cindy Shehan lately? You know the darling of the left back during George Bush'es presidency and Iraq war.
Its the same tactic - both clawed over the not-yet-cold bodes of their son/classmate to promote the ideas of their handlers while enjoying immunity because she/he is a mother/parkland kid.
Hogg will suffer the same fate. Tossed aside when they are done with him. They always eat their cannon fodder in the end.

What was Hogg like before the attacks? He might have been a bully then, most SJW are in their own manner.
During one of our campfire talks, it was mentioned that it is a surprise that Hogg isn't the shooter. I agree.
Don't know about bully, but certainly does not respect other peoples' boundaries, and would guess he would and did pile on a group target. Still, wouuldn't be surprised if he had a target or two in various classes. Probably fallen asleep on occasion just trying to come up with witty quips and insults.
4.2 GPA sounded good to me; knew a couple classmates who did that on a 4 point system..his is on a 6 point system which I guess puts him on a solid C average?
Not a student, not an athlete, not a charmer, doesn't come off as particularly popular. Probably did well in arts and theater, and rather a failure elsewhere but he thinks he has a ticker up there. And he chose California schools instead of in-state so I'm thinking pretentious and spoiled as well and not so happy about living in Florida.
This guy is a ticking bomb which will go off as soon as he finds out he is tossed like a condom through the nose. I can't stand him and I think he turns a lot of people off. Moar Hogg. The media are betting a lot of chips on this kid, and it is going to blow up in their faces.
Don't know what the grading scale is, but Hogg's SAT score was 1270 which, I believe, puts him somewhere in the 80th percentile. Not bad, but not good enough for a selective school and makes me think there is a bit of grade inflation going on.
RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia’s crown prince said Israelis are entitled to live peacefully on their own land in an interview published on Monday in U.S. magazine The Atlantic, another public sign of ties between Riyadh and Tel Aviv appearing to grow closer.
Asked if he believes the Jewish people have a right to a nation-state in at least part of their ancestral homeland, Mohammed bin Salman was quoted as saying:
"I believe the Palestinians and the Israelis have the right to have their own land. But we have to have a peace agreement to assure the stability for everyone and to have normal relations."
Saudi Arabia - birthplace of Islam and home to its holiest shrines - does not recognize Israel. It has maintained for years that normalizing relations hinges on Israeli withdrawal from Arab lands captured in the 1967 Middle East war, territory Palestinians seek for a future state.
"We have religious concerns about the fate of the holy mosque in Jerusalem and about the rights of the Palestinian people. This is what we have. We don’t have any objection against any other people," said Prince Mohammed who is touring the United States to drum up investments and support for his efforts to contain Iranian influence.
Increased tension between Tehran and Riyadh has fueled speculation that shared interests may push Saudi Arabia and Israel to work together against what they see as a common Iranian threat.
"There are a lot of interests we share with Israel and if there is peace, there would be a lot of interest between Israel and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries", Prince Mohammed added.
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman stresses his support for the Palestinians, a day after the crown prince told The Atlantic that both Israel and the Palestinians have a right to a homeland.
The Saudi monarch emphasizes “the kingdom’s steadfast position towards the Palestinian issue and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital,” state news agency SPA says, according to Reuters. The official Saudi outlet does not mention the crown prince’s remarks on the Jewish state.

Reading the Atlantic interview leads me to think that what the crown prince so carefully said is not what the interviewer and subsequent reporters heard.
From the interview:
Mohammed bin Salman: Islam is a religion of peace. This is the translation of Islam. God, in Islam, gives us two responsibilities: The first is to believe, to do good things, and not bad things. If we do bad things, God will judge us on Judgment Day.
Our second duty as Muslims is to spread the word of God. For 1,400 years, Muslims have been trying to spread the word of God. In the Middle East, in North Africa, in Europe, they weren’t allowed to spread the word. That’s why they fought to spread the word. But you also see that, in a lot of countries in Asia—Indonesia, Malaysia, India—Muslims were free to spread the word. They were told, “Go ahead, say whatever you want to say, the people have free will to believe whatever they want to believe in.” Islam, in this context, was not about conquering, it was about peacefully spreading the word.
But we know that Islam does not mean peace. It means submission. And in India, at least, Islam was not originally spread by peaceful proselytizing, but by conquest. Raids commenced in the seventh century, resulting first in the Delhi sultinate of the Mamluks, which was subsequently conquered by the Moghuls.
Then this bit on Iran (most interviewer interjections removed):
MbS: I believe that the Iranian supreme leader makes Hitler look good.
MbS: Hitler didn’t do what the supreme leader is trying to do. Hitler tried to conquer Europe. This is bad.
MbS: But the supreme leader is trying to conquer the world. He believes he owns the world. They are both evil guys. He is the Hitler of the Middle East. In the 1920s and 1930s, no one saw Hitler as a danger. Only a few people. Until it happened. We don’t want to see what happened in Europe happen in the Middle East. We want to stop this through political moves, economic moves, intelligence moves. We want to avoid war.
Goldberg: Is the problem in your mind religious?
MbS: As I told you, the Shiites are living normally in Saudi Arabia. We have no problem with the Shiites. We have a problem with the ideology of the Iranian regime. Our problem is, we don’t think they have the right to interfere with our affairs.
First of all, Hitler intended to conquer the whole world. Second, the Shiites in Saudi Arabia live in submission to the Sunni rulers, and are discriminated against for their heterodoxy. This, to the prince, is how normal is defined.
And then on Israel and the Palestinians:
Goldberg: Let’s talk about the broader Middle East. Do you believe the Jewish people have a right to a nation-state in at least part of their ancestral homeland?
MbS: I believe that each people, anywhere, has a right to live in their peaceful nation. I believe the Palestinians and the Israelis have the right to have their own land. But we have to have a peace agreement to assure the stability for everyone and to have normal relations.
Goldberg: You have no religious-based objection to the existence of Israel?
MbS: We have religious concerns about the fate of the holy mosque in Jerusalem and about the rights of the Palestinian people. This is what we have. We don’t have any objection against any other people.
Goldberg: Saudi Arabia has traditionally been a place that has produced a lot of anti-Semitic propaganda. Do you think you have a problem with anti-Semitism in your country?
MbS: Our country doesn’t have a problem with Jews. Our Prophet Muhammad married a Jewish woman. Not just a friend—he married her. Our prophet, his neighbors were Jewish. You will find a lot of Jews in Saudi Arabia coming from America, coming from Europe. There are no problems between Christian and Muslims and Jews. We have problems like you would find anywhere in the world, among some people. But the normal sort of problems.
If we go back to the definition in Islam of peaceful meaning submission, of normal being submission, then that first answer about Israel does not yield an independent Jewish state. And when we recall that Mohammed married that Jewish woman after the Muslims massacred her entire tribe (the Banu Qurayza) on trumped up charges, including her husband, and that she herself was taken as booty, the whole thing loses entirely the rosy tint with which it is being reported.
As for the Western Jews and Christians in Saudi Arabia, it is not legal for Jews to be there, so they lie on their entry forms, while it is illegal for the Christians to worship together — there are regular raids and arrests among the servant class. Expats in their compounds and the soldiers in their camps are necessarily exempt from that.
[Daily Caller] Howard University students entered their fourth day of a protest Monday in which they occupied an administrative building and demanded campus police disarm.
The Washington, D.C., students initiated the protest March 29 after the school fired employee Tyrone Hankerson, Jr., who allegedly stole $429,000 in financial aid money. But not all of the demands directly align with resource allocation transparency.
"We demand the immediate disarming of campus police officers and the formation of a Police Oversight Committee controlled by students, faculty, staff, and off-campus community representatives," The Concerned Students of HU Resist wrote in a letter that has been shared over 2,500 times on Twitter.

Oh so, this really isn't about campus police, but rather a public hearing on entitlement ?

So their objection really is to not being permitted to commit crime? Shut the "school" down, remove its accreditation, cut off financial aid money. If the students support embezzlement, let them suffer the consequences.

Former President Barack Obama is reportedly feeling "relieved" that he isn't saddled with the "burden" of being commander in chief anymore, according to one of his ex-White House press secretaries.
"It’s obvious to most people who are watching that he is relieved to no longer be bearing the burden of the presidency," Josh Earnest told the Hill in an article published Monday.

I was afraid that he might try to become a President for Life as so many of his heroes have, but, in the last few years I have realized that he was never the leader except in the same way that a hood ornament leads a car.
The motive force for the fearsome policies was the progressive deep state for whom Barry was only the trained seal in the circus. He was never a leader like Benito, Adolf, Mao, Fidel etc. Our wannabe dictators are more of the Byzantine Generals of the BGP.
Incessant in fighting with constantly changing alliances within the state seemed to allow no true leader to arise but also insured the arrival of a Trump.

I personally think all of that weaponization of BLM, IRS, etc,. was part of a plan to make him President for life. He was trying to stir up a race war/civil war in which he could declare martial law. I also think his shenanigans with FISA, the FBI, DoJ, and the circuit courts was a step toward allowing him to suspend elections due to national emergency.
We dodged a bullet with that one and had the loathsome one been elected it would have reached full fruition.

[Free Beacon] The Democratic National Committee’s Black Caucus chairwoman Virgie Rollins said Saturday that she used to be a member of the Black Panther Party.
DNC vice chairman Keith Ellison was listening and appeared to notice the Republican tracker who was secretly taping the conversation. About a minute after Rollins first mentioned the Black Panthers, Ellison seems to look directly at the tracker and began whispering with someone next to him, but before the video cut off, it captured Rollins’ comments.
"I’m a former Black Panther," Rollins said. "And when we talked about the movement, as a former Black Panther with Angela Davis and Kathleen Cleaver, it was important for us to make people understand that it was about the movement for us, educating us."
She touted the group’s community work, including teaching and helping to feed the poor. She also invoked Martin Luther King, Jr., even though the civil rights leader took issue with the Black Panthers’ movement.
"Mass incarceration did not just happen in Republican hands," she said, adding a range of other issues including police brutality and charter schools.

[DAWN] Myanmar authorities have lured dozens of mainly Buddhist Bangladeshi tribal families to cross the border and resettle on land abandoned by fleeing Moslem Rohingya, officials said on Monday.
About 50 families from remote hill and forest areas on the Bangladesh side, attracted by offers of free land and food, have moved to Rakhine state in Myanmar ‐ the scene of a brutal army crackdown which prompted hundreds of thousands of Rohingya to flee.
The families from the ethnic Marma and Mro tribes have left their homes in the Bandarban hill district, local councillor Muing Swi Thwee told AFP.
He said 22 families departed from their villages in the Sangu forest reserve last month.
The families, mainly Buddhist but with some Christians, were being "lured by Myanmar" to Rakhine where they were given free land, citizenship and free food for five years, Muing Swi Thwee said.

So we have a San Francisco democrat who wants to craft a zoning ordinance for the entire state. Zoning has always been controlled by incorporated cities and counties in the unincorporated areas. It's no surprise that a democrat wants to centralize this kind of power. Nevermind the impact on local schools, hospitals, roads and other infrastructure. Next, he'll want to impose rent control for the whole state. Yes, SteveS, I'm sure these people would gladly build Soviet style apartment blocks all over the state of California and fill them with people they've imported from the Third World. They'd bulldoze my neighborhood and others like it to accomplish this goal if they could. My only surprise is that the LA City Council is opposed.

(ISIS) has launched another massive offensive in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, targeting the eastern countryside of this province in the Euphrates River Valley.
ISIS reportedly began the offensive by storming the defenses of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) at the strategic town of al-Bahra.
According to pro-opposition pages, ISIS captured al-Bahra earlier this afternoon, adding that the Syrian Democratic Forces suffered huge losses as a result of this terrorist offensive.
If this report proves true, this could be a massive setback for the US-backed forces in Deir Ezzor, as they do not have reserves to drive back ISIS at the moment.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Minutes ago, a large group of Jaish al-Islam ...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful... bandidosgunnies departed from the town of Douma via the Wafiddeen Crossing, a military source told al-Masdar News.
According to the source, eight buses carrying 448 bandidosgunnies and their family members left Douma for the northern Aleppo city of Jarabulus .
Another large batch of Jaish al-Islam bandidosgunnies is expected to depart from Douma in the next 24 hours, the military source added.
The first Jaish al-Islam group to leave Douma, today, was made up of their maimed and sick fighters; this last batch was made up of their infantry personnel.

Baghdad (Iraqinews.com) ‐ A security expert has warned that about 95 percent of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (IS) leaders are still hiding in different areas inside and outside Iraq, urging Iraqi authorities to act immediately to capture them as soon as possible.
"The most prominent IS leaders are funding terrorist activities of the group from outside Iraq," expert Fadel Abu Reghif told the London-based Asharq al-Awsat, adding that Iraqi authorities must act immediately to arrest them and bring them to trial for their crimes.
Commenting on reports about the capture of the Islamic State’s so-called slaughter Abu Taha al Tunisi and nine of his lover companions in a security crackdown in Anbar province Sunday, Abu Reghif said, "Nobody can ignore the fact that 95 percent of IS leaders did not fight, but they preferred to escape and hide in different areas inside and outside Iraq."

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) Kurdistan Region’s Government’s Peshmerga Ministry has announced holding a round of meetings along with the federal Defense Ministry in attendance of U.S. officials representing the International Coalition over formation of a joint task force at the regions, where illusory sovereignty is disputed on between Baghdad and Erbil.
"The international coalition has been seeking for forming a joint task force and checkpoints at the disputed regions in order to preserve safety, stability and protect civilians," Maj. Gen.Qaraman Sheikh Kamal, deputy chief of staff of operations at the Peshmerga Ministry, was quoted by Kurdistan News channel on Monday.
Forming a task force, according to Kamal, "is a demand by the U.S.-Coalition and the people at those regions so Peshmerga troops can return back to these areas."
"Several meetings were held between the Peshmerga and the Defense Ministry under supervision of the Coalition," Kamal said indicating serious efforts toward forming the task force.
In March, Mazahim al-Howeit, spokesperson for the Arab tribes in Nineveh, was quoted by Radio Sawa website as saying a delegation from U.S. is expected to visit each of Baghdad and Erbil to agree on the redeployment of the Kurdish Peshmerga troops in disputed regions.
Iraqi government forces approached the southern borders of Erbil, capital of semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region, after taking over Kirkuk province from Kurdish Peshmerga fighters in October, fulfilling instructions made by the Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi to retake areas where illusory sovereignty is disputed with Kurdistan.
Baghdad had declared intentions to retake areas disputed on with Erbil following the Kurdistan Region’s vote for ts independence referendum on September 25, from Iraq, urging Peshmerga to cooperate with federal troops.

From what I read elsewhere Iraq will agree to nothing until it sees how the national voting plays out in May and calculates how to deal with Iran and the Shite militias. They claimed to be able to control these areas and that's why Iraq let them attempt it. They have failed at it but Iran still doesn't want to see Peshmerga anywhere.
Nineveh (Iraqinews.com) – Four children were wounded Monday as a bomb exploded outside a medical complex in the Christian town of Bartella, east of Mosul, a security source was quoted as saying.
Speaking to Shafaq News website, the source said, “An explosive charge believed to be planted by Islamic State (IS) militants went off while four children were playing outside a medical complex at the Christian-majority Bartella town in eastern Mosul.”
“The explosion left the four children injured,” according to the source.
Bartella, largely inhibited by Christians, was emptied from inhabitants when the IS group seized the town in August 2014. After controlling the town, IS ordered the Christians to pay a tax, convert to Islam, or die by the sword, prompting the residents to flee the town.
Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Three Islamic State members were arrested in an operation carried out in west of Mosul, Nineveh, a commander announced on Monday.
In a statement, Maj. Gen. Hamad Names al-Jabouri, commander of Nineveh Police, said, “Police troops managed, this evening, through checkpoints, to arrest three Islamic State members in west of Mosul.”

“Security forces combed the blast site in search of other explosives,” the source pointed out.

[AnNahar] An air strike near the Yemeni port of Hodeida on Monday killed 16 people in a building where Houthis were gathering, security sources told AFP.
There were conflicting reports on the number of rebels versus civilians killed in the strike which was believed to have been carried out by the Saudi-led coalition.
The coalition said it was investigating the reports and could not immediately comment.
The strike occurred in the district of al-Hali in Hodeida province, which is controlled by the Iran-backed turbans.
The security sources said a second air strike targeted the house of a Huthi commander in the same area, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The rebels' al-Masirah news outlet also reported two air strikes in al-Hali district, saying they targeted a camp for displaced people and that most of the victims were women and kiddies.
The security sources said there was no camp for the displaced in the area.
The Saudi coalition is the only force known to carry out air strikes on Huthi rebel-held territory and has previously admitted to "erroneous" strikes that caused civilian casualties.

"I salute the people of Gazoo and may God have mercy on the martyr Abdul Fattah Abdul Nabi and the rest of the deaders," Jumblat went on to say.
[RADIOSHABELLE] At least three civilians, including a woman, were reported to have been killed a suspected US dronezap in central Somalia on Monday.
The Arclight airstrike was carried out at Da’ar, an al-Shabaab ... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... -controlled area located about 20 Kilometers west of Elbur district in Galgadud region of central Somalia.
Two prominent local elders identified as Ali Hared and Yusuf Dhegay were among those killed in the drone attack, according to a statement released by Al-Shabaab.
Sources in the area said the drone has fired a missile targeting a convoy carrying civilians on the outskirts of Elbur. Al-Shabaab had denied claims that 10 hard boyz killed in the raid.
US military has intensified the airstrikes against the Al-Shabaab following October 14 deadly truck bombing that killed more than 512 people in Mogadishu’s Zoobe junction.
A U.S. air strike against al-Shabaab faceless myrmidons in Somalia has killed five "terrorists," the U.S. military announced Monday.
The strike occurred Sunday near a small village called El Buur, located some 235 miles (375 kilometers) northeast of the capital Mogadishu. It is the seventh time this year that the U.S. has struck Shabaab.
U.S. Africa Command said the strike had been conducted in coordination with the Somali government, "killing five Lions of Islam and destroying one vehicle."

The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Commission (SRCC) for Somalia, Ambassador Francisco Caetano Madeira, lauds the AU troops in Lower Shabelle region for the gallantry they displayed, during a confrontation with al-Shabaab ... the personification of Somali state failure... earlier Saturday.
The troops fought off and successfully repulsed the bully boyz who had launched simultaneous attacks on forwarding Operating Bases in Quoryole, Bulomareer, and Golwein.
The bully boyz were dealt a heavy blow, with at least 30 of them put out of action, following the intense fighting. Eight vehicles which ferried the terrorists, including two Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices, were destroyed and an assortment of weapons recovered.
Unfortunately, AMISOM lost four gallant soldiers in the fighting. Six others sustained injuries.
AMISOM pays tribute to these troops whose courage and sacrifice has frustrated al-Shabaab’s intent.
"We honor our brave soldiers, who are resolute in continuing to neutralize the faceless myrmidons in order to restore peace and stability in Somalia," said Madeira.

[DAWN] Two people were incarcerated Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! after an angry mob beat to death a man accused of raping an eight-year-old girl on the rural outskirts of New Delhi, police said on Sunday.
The man identified as Jitendra was set upon by a crowd after being accused of assaulting the girl in Ghaziabad district, just 20 kilometres from India’s capital.
"He was dragged out from his house and beaten to death," said Ghaziabad’s rural police superintendent Arvind Kumar Maurya of 25-year-old Jitendra, who went by one name.
"We have arrested two people over the lynching. One of the two is a family member [of the girl] and the other is a neighbour."
Police were also investigating the alleged sexual assault as part of their inquiries, he added.
Vigilante justice is not uncommon in India, and those accused of rape have been attacked or paraded through the streets naked as punishment.
Cases can take years to drag through India’s courts and aggrieved parties have been known to take matters into their own hands.

[BALTIMORESUN] With the U.S. Census Bureau reporting yet another year of population loss for the city, it doesn’t take an investigator to determine the causes.
The city’s scary record of 343 homicides in 2017 affirms the city’s well-known reputation as a dangerous place to live. Even if 2018 has fewer homicides, it doesn’t take a fortune teller to predict that this year’s homicide rate will be high. Until the city substantially reduces its homicide and other crimes rates, people will continue to view the city as dangerous and be reluctant to stay or move here.
The city’s outrageous property tax of $2.248 per $100 of a property’s assessed value is more than double of its surrounding jurisdictions: Baltimore County, $1.10, and Anne Arundel 90.7 cents. The city’s burdensome property tax on homeowners explains why the city has more renters than homeowners. The city’s high income tax is 3.2 percent, the maximum allowed by law. Baltimore County’s is 2.83 and Anna Arundel’s is 2.56. The city’s tax message is clear: Move here and pay higher taxes. People have figured out how to avoid the city’s taxes and still enjoy the city. They live in surrounding counties and take reasonably priced ridesharing services into the city.

I forget where I discovered this bit of information but it seems Baltimore is exporting its troubles elsewhere. Either Baltimore city or Maryland state are paying $2000 dollars to people who will relocate. Seems Western Maryland is a target spot. Crime has dramatically increased in Cumberland and along the creek from Midland to Westernport. Drug treatment clinics popping up also. New idea is a place to shoot up unhindered. Reminds me of the Opium dens of times past. Now with the new Heroine treatment with narcan(new nasal spray) doesn't work. I call this planned parenthood for adults.

The city’s burdensome property tax on homeowners explains why the city has more renters than homeowners.
It explains nothing. Landlords don't adjust rents to incorporate property taxes? What an ignoramus.
Baltimore's (and St Louis) single most easily addressed problem is that it is not in a county. If they were returned to their respective counties problems would not be eliminated, but the surrounding affluent communities would have to be more involved and responsible for cleaning them up. As it is they have become literal ghettos.

One son used to clear titles after repos. They most complicated place to clear was Baltimore. Baltimore refuses to turn off gas, water and power connection fees (even though the actual stuff is turned off) so fees keep accumulating. They allow the ownership of a payment to be traded so multiple folk need to shake you down to clear up a title. This clearing can only be done one day a year at the courthouse. They don't accept check or credit card or debit card or line of credit. It must be done at the prescribed time with cash. Since he wasn't located in Baltimore is used to drive him bats until he hit upon a solution. Criminals were in the courthouse too. Criminals needed bail bondsmen. So he checked and a bail bondsman with enough money always on hand was just across the street. Bingo! He finally figured out how to clear the stupid Baltimore titles. He had his company make a deal with the bondsman and things went smoothly from then on.
[DAWN] Nearly a year after a Libyan militia announced it had set free the son and heir apparent of slain dictator Moamer Qadaffy, the fate of Seif al-Islam remains a mystery.
His reported release from detention by the Abu Bakr al-Sadiq Brigade which once controlled the town of Zintan in western Libya has never been confirmed and has fuelled wild rumours.
While some insist he is still somewhere in Zintan, others claim Seif is dead.
One thing, however, is certain: he has not been seen or heard of since June 2014 when he appeared via video from Zintan during his trial by a Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems... , dubbing her an "ambassador of animosity, hatred and dark ideology," after she blocked a UN condemnation of Israel.
The PA said that Haley was responsible for aborting a UN Security Council resolution condemning Israel for Friday’s deaths and injuries of Paleostinians during mass protests along the border between the Gazoo Strip and Israel. "The US ambassador insists on taking positions in support of the occupation and in defense of its crimes and violations," said a statement issued by the PA Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ramallah.
Blaming Haley for adopting a "barefaced hostile position" against the Paleostinians, the ministry accused Haley of "blind bias in favor of Israel and its crimes."

With n-generations of welfare mothers in Gaza, (and yes I know the PA doesn't control Gaza rather a worse bunch of loons) will they even know what to eat when all the money is cut off? It's obvious that welfare since 1948 has left absolutely no concept of a real job or biz other than digging tunnels or making rockets and bombs.

[KCNAWATCH.CO] Rodong Sinmun - The U.S. and its vassal forces are spreading false story about "human rights ...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... situation" in the DPRK while getting keen on the racket for putting sanctions on it.
Their anti-DPRK "human rights" racket is an intolerable act of hostility tarnishing the prestige of the dignified DPRK and denying its ideology and social system.
It is the DPRK in which the genuine sovereign rights of the popular masses are guaranteed by law under the state protection and which develops by the creative enthusiasm and devoted efforts made by them.
Nowhere can there be found a country which has become a great garden in which respect for the people and loving care for them are becoming a reality.
There can never exist "human rights issue" in the DPRK, socialist system centered on the popular masses.
The "human rights" issue which the U.S. gets vocal while faulting the DPRK is groundless as the U.S. cooked it up by egging despicable human scum on to it.
The U.S. anti-DPRK "human rights" racket is an anachronistic one aimed to justify its hostile policy toward the DPRK and undermine the single-minded unity of the army and people of the DPRK.
The U.S. is finding fault with the "human rights" issue in the DPRK. This is like pointing an accusing finger at others' door through a torn hole on its own door.
The U.S. had better mind its own business before groundlessly taking issue with others.

Oh good, she survived this brief and highly guarded visit. Perhaps she’ll change her mind about returning permanently after she graduates.
[DAWN] Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai ...a Pashtun blogger and advocate for girls' education from Mingora, in Swat. She is esteemed as an ambassador of international good will, even though she can't go home lest some fellow in a turban shoots her in the head again... on Monday ended her first visit to Pakistain since being shot in 2012 by Talibs who tried to kill her for promoting girls' education in the country's northwestern area.
A smiling Yousafzai was seen with her parents at Benazir Bhutto ... 11th Prime Minister of Pakistain in two non-consecutive terms from 1988 until 1990 and 1993 until 1996. She was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistain People's Party, who was murdered at the instigation of General Ayub Khan. She was murdered in her turn by person or persons unknown while campaigning in late 2007. Suspects include, to note just a few, Baitullah Mehsud, General Pervez Musharraf, the ISI, al-Qaeda in Pakistain, and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, who shows remarkably little curiosity about who done her in... International Airport before they boarded a plane to return to London after the four-day visit.
Amid tight security, Yousafzai in a convoy of vehicles left her hotel in Islamabad, where she stayed for four days. [IsraelTimes] Fresh disturbances reported along Gazoo border, with IDF said to open fire at protesters, injuring one
Israeli troops picked up two unarmed Paleostinians who crossed the Gazoo security fence and entered Israeli territory on Monday, the army said. According to the army, they were not in possession of weapons.
The suspects were placed in durance vile Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages! shortly after they crossed into southern Israel, near the Eshkol region. They were handed over to the Shin Bet security service for questioning.
Earlier reports indicated that three Paleostinians had infiltrated into Israeli territory, but an army spokesperson said he was only aware of two.
Elsewhere along the Gazoo border, several disturbances broke out, Paleostinian reports said, with dozens of demonstrators approaching the border. In one case the army opened fire and injured one of the rioters, the Paleostinians said.
[IsraelTimes] A senior Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", official says the terror group will continue protests on the Gazoo border that have resulted in violent festivities between Paleostinians and the IDF, vowing not to disarm or back down.
"The Paleostinian people are determined to continue the great ’March of Return,’ to free the land and move towards occupied Jerusalem, and they are not concerned by all the sacrifices," politician Khalil al-Hayya tells a memorial ceremony of Faris al-Raqib, 29, who the Gazoo health ministry says was shot in Friday’s festivities east of Khan Younis in southern Gazoo as tens of thousands of people took part in the mass protests.
His death, announced Monday, raised the reported corpse count to 18.
The border area is currently relatively quiet but tents erected for the protests remain.
Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... said Fares al-Ruqab was a member of its military wing.
There were discrepancies in Paleostinian reports on the corpse count from the festivities. While Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, claimed Monday that 18 had died, the official news agency of the Paleostinian Authority had the number at 16. Israel has no official corpse count figures.
[ALMASDARNEWS] For the second time in the last 48 hours, the Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... forces have fired a ballistic missile towards a military installation inside the Kingdom of Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... According to the official media wing of the Houthi forces, their rocket battalion fired a Badr-1 ballistic missile at the al-Jarbah Base in Saudi Arabia’s Asir Region.
No further details were released regarding the fate of the missile.
The Badr-1 is the latest Yemeni-manufactured missile that has been used against the Saudi Coalition in both Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic... and Saudi Arabia.
[SABANEWS.NET] The missile force of the army and popular forces launched Badr-1 Ballistic missile on the Saudi al- Garbah camp in Dhahran Asir, a military official told Saba on Monday. The missile hit its target directly, leaving huge losses in the enemy ranks and military equipment's, said the official.

[AlAhram] Despite the decades-long ban by the Egyptian Coptic Church, 4,700 Egyptian Christians are planning to make their way to Jerusalem this year, an official at EgyptAir told Ahram Online on Monday.
"Around 800 pilgrims have already left from Cairo to Tel Aviv on Air Sinai starting from 29 March," the official said.
Each Holy Week and Easter, many of Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Christians aim to visit Jerusalem.
However, some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them... a papal decree issued in 1979 by the late Pope Shenouda III forbade Coptic travel to the city in protest of the Israeli occupation.
The EgyptAir official explained that a total of 26 charter flights are planned to travel from Cairo to Tel Aviv over the next week, yet there was no statement on timing of the trips.
During his visit to Cairo in January 2018, Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial... urged Arabs to visit Jerusalem.
"Do not leave us alone. Going to Jerusalem is not going to Israel and supporting Israel. It is supporting Paleostinians," he said at the al-Azhar International Conference in Support of Jerusalem.
"All reservations for this trip are done through the tourism agencies."
There has been a debate on whether travel to Jerusalem ‐ occupied by Israel in 1967 ‐ may divide Christians.
Some believe they should not be barred from the "blessing" of visiting the Holy City, while others see such visits as giving legitimicy to over 50 years of Israeli occupation.
Since the Camp David Accords were signed between Egypt and Israel in 1978, there have been no official travel restrictions, other than the Coptic Orthodox Church's decree.
The church continues to renew its committment to the 1979 decree with statements against the Israeli occupation of Paleostine.
The number of religious pilgrims to Jerusalem has increased over the last few years.

The gun attack took place on Sunday night in Bale Shuwari, a settlement near army barracks on the edge of Maiduguri’s inner city, military sources said.
"Sixty-eight were maimed and so far, 15 innocent people were killed," said Bello Dambatta, chairman of the rapid response team for the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
It is the most significant attack on the city since the government said last week it was is in talks with the turbans with the aim of securing a permanent ceasefire.
The government has not disclosed which elements of Boko Haram it is in discussions with, and neither was it clear which faction carried out Sunday’s attack.

Authorities have also clamped a curfew in the old parts of Kashmire's main city of Srinagar, the urban centre of protests and festivities against Indian rule. According to Times of India, internet service has also been suspended in the area.
Pakistain on Sunday had condemned the brutal and indiscriminate use of force by the Indian forces.

Once ’Abboud reached a certain point, the Iraqi intelligence forces fired a missile at his vehicle, abruptly ejecting him from the gene pool.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Minister of State for Administrative Development Inaya Ezzeddine stated on Monday that the Israeli threats to launch an offensive on Leb were groundless.
"The threats of the Israeli enemy to strike Leb are nothing but words of the helpless and the frightened,= because those who are confident of their combat and their military capabilities do not need to kill and destroy," Ezzeddine stressed.
Ezzeddine, whose words came in the wake of a political ceremony in south Leb, added that "the equation of the people, army and resistance will defend Leb’s right to its land and sea."
"The Israeli threats against Leb are a call for murder and criminality, a fact that requires the prosecution of Israeli officials around the world, as they pose a threat to the regional and global peace," Ezzeddine concluded.

He's right too - fumigating for cockroaches is not an attack on cockroaches.
[DAWN] Concerned that the tide of far-right ideology could become mainstream in Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government has for the first time earmarked millions of dollars in the national budget to counter racism.
As far-right movements have gained ground among many of Canada’s allies, the Liberal government has committed to providing 23 million Canadian dollars over two years for multicultural programmes and cross-country consultations on racism.
The budget, approved in February, stated that diversity was a cornerstone of Canadian identity threatened by the rise of "ultranationalist movements and protests against immigration, visible minorities and religious minorities". The new funding will bolster the existing multiculturalism programme.
Canada is worried that such ultranationalist movements could also harbour violent elements. In its annual public report on the terrorist threat to Canada in December, Public Safety Canada listed right-wing extremism as a "growing concern" for the first time. While much of the far-right activity was concentrated online, the report said, there were risks for physical violence.

[ConservativeTreehouse] ♦ In August of 2017 President Trump and Commerce Secretary Ross were discussing their trade efforts within NAFTA and renegotiation with Mexico/Canada on a trilateral basis. However, the U.S. administration said if it doesn’t work, they’d scrap the 3-way NAFTA deal and go one-on-one with individual bilateral agreements. In response, Mexican Economic Minister Ildefonso Guajardo threatened to flood the U.S. with South American illegal aliens, criminals and gang members as leverage:
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) ‐ Mexico could pull back on cooperation in migration and security matters if the United States walks away from talks to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement, the Mexican economy minister said in a newspaper report published on Thursday.
"If they do not treat [us] well commercially, they should not expect us to treat them well by containing the migration that comes from other regions of the world and crosses Mexico," Guajardo said. "Or they should not expect to be treated well in collaboration with security issues in the region."
However, Mexican Minister Ildefonso Guarjardo’s threat was mild compared to a threat in January 2017, when another Mexican official promised to flood the U.S. with South American drugs and gang violence:
♦ In a stunning segment on Fareed Zakaria’s CNN broadcast January 29th, 2017, Mexico’s former foreign minister, Jorge Castaneda, states the Mexican government was willing to counter U.S. President Donald Trump policy by unleashing drug cartels upon the U.S. border.
Watch, and more importantly LISTEN, to his words at 02:10 below (Prompted):
This was the most politically explosive admission by the Mexican government in the past decade. Even Fareed Zakaria realized what was being threatened and quickly attempted to redirect the conversation.
Mr. Castaneda was openly admitting a willingness to promote drug trafficking. Additionally, Jorge Castaneda is so proud of the threat, he posted a video of the discussion on his own YouTube page. More at the link.

Trump should tell the Mexican government that if this convoy crosses our border, a state of war will exist between the US and Mexico and step 1 of our counter attack will be the extermination of every single Mexican government official above the local level

Countries are responsible for what comes from or through their territory into another country. Early in US history an Irish group set up on the Canadian border and attacked British interests -- and the US has no grounds to object when the British retaliated. If the Mexican government is going to take the stand that they cannot control what comes from their territory, they are admitting they are no longer a government.
I'm which case: all treaties with them are null and void, including those that facilitate bank transfers. All of their consulates and embassies are closed and every Mexican national is now a stateless person (yes, including their ambassador).
As a step short of this, we could just arrange for their corrupt politicians to meet their justice at an earlier date. Eventually Mexico would have a government that can govern and governs sanely.

Government officials are not a class of people. They are not a race. They are the command and control structure of what is supposed to be a nation. When they threaten another country, attempt to blackmail another country, they have declared themselves to be hostile targets. Killing enemies working directly to harm and destroy your country is nothing more than an act of national survival. My 'plan' for fixing the Mexican problem is simple. Remove their government, allow their states to become US territories and in 15 to 20 years, they can apply for statehood in the United States of America. It'll take a while for them to reach a point beyond their endless cycle of self-destruction and corruption. In the end, they become citizens and the border is no longer an issue.

Trump should announce that if the Mexican government doesn't stop the bullshit that he'll put a 90% tax on remittances to Mexico. 1/3 of the Mexican economy would dry up overnight.

...THIS. Quietly give the Mexicans one - and only one - chance: the caravan stops, and stops within 24 hours...because if a single one of these people tries to set foot in the US, the border will be closed indefinitely and NAFTA with Mexico will be suspended. And if that doesn't work, deploy the gorram Army. Anybody who tries it then gets to live in tents in the desert until we vet every single one of them. Could take years.
They're not going to understand unless it hurts.

Before this caravan issue came up, I'd think something in the 5% range would be close to maximizing our take, as it doesn't give a massive incentive to try other avenues. With this fucking obnoxious caravan coning our way with help from Mexico, jack it to 25%. Like Mike says, make it hurt.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Ankara on Monday ordered the arrest of Islamic holy manFethullah Gülen ... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world... along with seven members of his Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) over the killing of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov, who was assassinated in 2016, the Yeni Safak newspaper reported.
According to the newspaper, the FETO top figures Serif Ali Tekalan and Emre Uslu Gulen were also among those, sought to be placed in durance vile You have the right to remain silent... Russian former Ambassador to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund.... Andrei Karlov was shot by an off-duty Ottoman Turkish police officer, Mevlut Mert Altintas, on December 19, 2016, at the opening of an art gallery exhibition "Russia from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka through the eyes of a traveler" in Ankara. The attacker was killed at the scene by the police.
Though the investigation is still ongoing, the Ottoman Turkish side has repeatedly voiced suspicions that the Gulen movement, considered by Ankara to be a terrorist organization and accused by the authorities of criminal masterminding the 2016 failed coup attempt in Turkey, is linked to the attack.
Besides the Karlov case, Turkey accuses Gulen of a coup attempt that occurred in July 2016. The coup was quickly suppressed by government forces, but over 240 people were killed and an estimated 2,000 were maimed.
The warrants were issued a day ahead of a visit to Ankara by President Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... for talks with Ottoman Turkish counterpart Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey... aimed at bolstering the growing Moscow-Ankara relationship.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... has said the murder was a plot carried out by the group of Gulen, a U.S.-based Islamic preacher who stands accused of staging the 2016 coup bid. But Moscow has yet to echo this.
Serif Ali Tekalan headed a university linked to Gulen in Istanbul and now heads the Texas-based North American University (NAU).
It was not immediately clear if any of the suspects are currently in Turkey.
Gulen, who denies any link to the coup, has been hit with multiple Ottoman Turkish arrest warrants. But so far the United States has yet to budge in response to Ottoman Turkish demands for his extradition.
Anadolu said that the investigation had found links between the gunman Altintas and Gulen.
According to the news agency, nine people are already in jug awaiting trial over the killing including television producer Hayreddin Aydinbas, the organizer of the photo exhibition Mustafa Timur Ozkan and former coppers.
There were fears the killing would again derail relations that had only been put back on track that summer with a reconciliation deal after the November 2015 shooting down by Turkey of a Russian war plane over the Syrian border.
But relations have since gone from strength to strength, with Putin's upcoming visit expected to signal the strategic importance of the relationship to both sides.

Thanks to that Corbyn fellow currently heading the party, Labour has an embarrassing Jew-hatred problem.
[IsraelTimes] Former House of Commons Speaker Michael Martin calls for special party conference on anti-Jewish attitudes, a 'genuine problem' in the party
As the issue of anti-Semitism within the UK Labour Party returns to the headlines, a former Speaker of the House of Commons has called for a special party conference to discuss the issue, warning that it could cost the party the next election.
Michael Martin told The Guardian newspaper that he was "appalled" by the state of affairs, that he believed the party had a genuine problem with anti-Semitism and that he disagreed with those who said it was only being used as a tool to dislodge the party’s leader Jeremy Corbyn.

The funeral prayers of the 7-year-old girl were attended by hundreds of residents at Kachery Chowk.
According to the girl's father, his daughter had left the house at around 2pm on April 1 [Sunday]. When she did not return after an hour, the father started looking for her with the help of relatives and neighbours.
After an hours-long search, the girl's body was found in an agricultural field near Hafiz Garden.
He said the girl had bruises on several parts of her body. She was found without her clothes and had a dupatta (scarf) around her neck which was allegedly used to strangle her.
Police are awaiting the report of a postmortem examination performed on the child, which will determine whether she was subjected to rape or not.

[FOX] While most busy college kids might spend their days in sweats, one student at Howard University was a notable exception: He's accused of stealing $429,000 in financial aid from 2011 to 2017 to buy fancy clothes.
Students of the historically black university in Washington, D.C. are protesting on Friday over the incident, as well as a larger scandal alleging financial mishandlings which came to light just recently, NBC Washington is reporting.
On March 27, an anonymous writer by the name of "Veritas 1867" (in a likely nod to the school’s motto and founding year) posted a bombshell report to Medium claiming that $1 million in financial aid was diverted between 2013 and 2017.
The writer suggested that Howard University President Wayne Fredrick and his administration have been aware of this fraud since May 2017, and points out that at least seven senior-level financial aid officials "have either resigned or been quietly removed" since then.
Two individuals allegedly involved in the scam were identified by name: Brian Johnson, former associate director of financial aid, and law student Tyrone Hankerson Jr., who purportedly received roughly $429,612 in grants and various scholarships through his undergraduate and graduate years at the school.
