Hamas said to recruit 30,000 Gaza youths into its military wing
[IsraelTimes] Saudi report says most recruits lack real training beyond rocket launching, guerilla tactics; at least 25 reported killed in IDF strikes across Strip on Sunday

Hamas’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, has recruited around 30,000 young people from Gaza to join their ranks, according to a Sunday report.

The Saudi Al Arabiya channel, citing Palestinian sources, said in its report that most of the recruits had previously undergone training in secret military camps run by the wing.

The report did not clarify if the training camps were still being held during the war, or if they only took place beforehand.

However, the new recruits reportedly lack military skills beyond “guerrilla warfare,” rocket fire, and planting explosives.

The report did not mention an exact timeframe for when they were recruited, but is likely referring to a recent period in the ongoing war, which resumed last month following the collapse of the ceasefire-hostage release agreement that was signed in January.

According to the report, Hamas is short on weapons, particularly drones and long-range missiles, and has begun recycling waste from missiles, likely unexploded IDF munitions, and using it to manufacture ground-based explosive devices and other improvised weapons.

Gaza’s civil defense agency reported that Israeli airstrikes on Sunday killed at least 25 people across the Gaza Strip.

“Since dawn today, the occupation’s airstrikes have killed 20 people and injured dozens more, including children and women across the Gaza Strip,” Mahmud Bassal, spokesman for the civil defense agency, told AFP.

In a separate statement later, the agency reported that five people were killed in an Israeli drone strike on a group of civilians in eastern Rafah.

The figures could not be independently verified and do not differentiate between combatants and civilians.

Since March 18, when Israel resumed its offensive against Hamas, the IDF says it has struck over 1,400 targets in Gaza. Hamas’s health ministry has said that over 1,500 people have been killed in that timeframe, in figures that are not verified, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed in the war to over 51,000.

Government Corruption
Soros-Funded Group Behind Lawsuit Trying to Preserve Anchor Baby Policy
[Breitbart] A pro-mass migration group, funded in part by Alex and George Soros
...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true. Maybe both....
’s left-wing nonprofit network, is behind a lawsuit trying to preserve the nation’s anchor baby policy, where the United States-born children of illegal aliens are rewarded birthright American citizenship. The case will be heard next month before the Supreme Court.

Immediately after taking office, Trump signed an executive order ending birthright citizenship for the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens — a policy once also opposed by Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
. Annually, about 250,000 anchor babies are born in the U.S. every year, anchoring their illegal alien parents in the country.

In response, CASA Inc. and the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project — both representing pregnant illegal aliens planning to deliver anchor babies in the U.S. — sued to block the executive order. Four district court judges have halted the executive order while it makes its way to the Supreme Court.

CASA, previously known as CASA de Maryland, has taken more than $2.23 million from the Soros network’s Open Society Foundations from 2016 to 2023, a search of grant records reveals.

The lawsuit to preserve birthright citizenship for illegal aliens’ U.S.-born children is only the latest to involve groups funded by and linked to the Soros network.

As Breitbart News reported, a lawsuit filed by two organizations funded in part by Soros’s Open Society Foundations has thus far blocked Trump from ending former President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier...
’s parole pipeline for more than half a million migrants colonists.

Similarly, a legal firm that works closely with Soros-linked groups is behind a lawsuit seeking to prevent Trump from deporting illegal alien gang members under the Alien Enemies Act.

It has been a long-established legal precedent.

No criminal may profit or benefit from their crime.

So since a person who illegally entered the USA is engaged in a criminal act. Such person(s) should not be allowed to claim the benefit of Anchor Baby Birth Rights.

#3  It will likely be challenging to stop the babies from being citizens but I see no reason why that makes them anchors… deport the parents and let them take their baby with them; it would still let the child return on his own later but at least it is not a never ending chain.
Posted by: Glenmore || 04/21/2025 11:58 Comments || Top||

#4  @glenmore: The problem, I think, is that the child as an American citizen will petition for their parents. The parents then become citizens after 5 years and petition for their other minor children..etc, etc.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
US defense secretary shared war plans with family in 2nd Signal chat — report
Three questions:
1. Why does the New York Times have this information?
2. Is it true or is someone making things up again?
2.a. If false, is the New York Times lying or were they fed false information?
3. Only if it is true, what the heck, Secretary Hegseth!
The claim:
[IsraelTimes] Hegseth sent detailed info on upcoming military strikes on Yemen’s Houthis in a private group that included his wife, brother and lawyer, The New York Times says

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared details of a March attack on Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
’s Iran-aligned Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s before it took place in a message group that included his wife, brother and personal lawyer, the New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported on Sunday, raising more questions about his use of an unclassified messaging system to share highly sensitive security details.

Hegseth allegedly shared the same details of the attack that were revealed last month by The Atlantic magazine after its editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, was included in a separate chat on the Signal app by mistake, in an embarrassing incident involving all of President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
’s most senior national security officials.

That Signal chat saw officials including Hegseth and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz discuss the coming strikes, which took place on March 15. Goldberg was exposed to discussions between the brass hats about the strikes, which he then reported on after the bombings went ahead.

The revelation sparked an uproar, with Trump’s administration facing a scandal over the accidental leak. A Pentagon Inspector-General’s probe into that leak is ongoing.

Trump largely pinned the blame for the earlier leak on Waltz, but dismissed calls to fire brass hats and insisted instead on what he called the success of the raids on the Yemeni rebels.

The Times, citing four sources familiar with the message group, said that the second chat included details of the schedule of the air strikes, similarly to the first chat reported on by The Atlantic.

The paper said the chat was created by Hegseth himself before he was confirmed as defense secretary, and included around a dozen people in his inner circle. He used his private phone to access it.

Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer, a former Fox News producer, has also reportedly attended sensitive meetings with foreign military counterparts, the Wall Street Journal has separately reported.

A source with knowledge of the matter told The Times that Hegseth was cautioned by aides in the days before the Yemen strikes to refrain from sharing delicate operational information in his Signal group chat.

Revelations of another use of Signal for classified information come as one of Hegseth’s leading advisers, Dan Caldwell, was escorted from the Pentagon last week after being identified during an investigation into leaks at the Department of Defense, a US official told Rooters.

Following Caldwell’s departure, less bigwigs Darin Selnick, who recently became Hegseth’s deputy chief of staff, and Colin Carroll, who was chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg, were put on administrative leave, officials said.

The Senate’s top Democrat demanded that the defense secretary be dismissed over the blunders.

"We keep learning how Pete Hegseth put lives at risk," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
...Senator-for-life from New York, renowned for his love of standing in front of cameras and microphones. Schumer has been a professional politician since 1975, when disco was in flower, which is 49.37455 years. Senate minority leader as of 2017...
said in a post to X. "But Trump is still too weak to fire him. Pete Hegseth must be fired."

The Trump administration has aggressively pursued leaks, an effort that has been enthusiastically embraced by Hegseth at the Pentagon.

The Pentagon was not immediately available for comment.
"I can say no more!"
The White House did not immediately return a message.

#1  A security/secrecy system is as strong as its weakest link and video communication of this nature, using generic consumer hardware consists of a myriad of links.

What protects the general public is the high cost of breaching individual communication links not infeasibility.

For really sensitive communications, mechanical teletypes in an electromagnetically shielded room using strong encryption could be considered reasonably secure (excluding the human factor).

Everything beyond is a matter of money and there are lots of players who would invest millions to get access to the US SecDef's data.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel’s new unmanned bulldozers ‘changing the paradigm’ of war in Gaza
;Go on, Besoeker — you know you want to do, and nobody does it better.[IsraelTimes] The Robdozer, the robotic version of the D9 bulldozer, has begun limited deployment in the IDF’s operations against Hamas; ‘This is the future,’ says one military expert

At first glance, there is nothing unusual about the bulky bulldozer turning up soil at a testing site in central Israel, but as it pulled closer it became clear: the driver’s cabin is eerily empty.

This is the Robdozer, a fortified engineering vehicle manned remotely, and in this case operated from a military expo halfway across the globe in Alabama.

Army engineers and military experts say that the Robdozer — the robotic version of Caterpillar’s D9 bulldozer — is the future of automated combat.

The Israeli military has used D9 for years to carry out frontline tasks like troweling roads for advancing troops, removing rubble and flattening terrain, but since war in Gaza broke out in October 2023, and later in Lebanon, the Israeli military has increasingly deployed this robotic version in a bid to enhance its field operations and reduce the risks to its troops.

“The idea is to eliminate the person from the cockpit of the dozer,” said Rani, whose team at the state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries developed the Robdozer.

During the Gaza war, the military has increasingly opted for the unmanned version, which can carry out a full range of tasks “even better than a human,” said Rani, using his first name only for security reasons.

While such vehicles and other systems are currently operated by humans, future versions could be autonomous, raising ethical and legal concerns over the unchartered future of warfare being shaped by the Israeli military in the Gaza war.

‘CHANGING THE PARADIGM’
Israel’s increasing use of advanced technology on the battlefield, from air defense systems to a broad range of AI-driven intelligence tools, has been well-documented but also criticized for inaccuracies, lack of human oversight and potential violations of international law.

Analysts say the growing Israeli deployment of the Robdozer reflects broader global trends toward automation in heavy combat vehicles, like remote-controlled personnel carriers that operate much like drones.

An Israeli military official, who requested anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, told AFP that the army has been using “robotic tools for over a decade, but in very small numbers. Now it is being used in large-scale warfare.”

Troops can now operate machinery without having to enter enemy territory, said the official.

Andrew Fox, a retired British army major and a research fellow at the London-based Henry Jackson Society, said the Israeli military was likely the first force to use remote-controlled combat machinery in an active war zone.

“It’s a really big development” that is “changing the paradigm” of warfare, carrying out tasks as effectively but at a far reduced risk to personnel, he said.

A NEW ERA OF WAR
“This is the future,” said John Spencer, chair of urban warfare studies at the US military’s Modern War Institute at West Point.

Many “have been experimenting with it, but nobody has seen direct deployment into active modern combat,” he added. “It is very unique.”

But beyond ethical and legal drawbacks to such advanced technology, there is also the need for an overriding human presence to make decisions particularly in unusual situations.

The October 7, 2023, attack — when some Hamas terrorists breached the high-security border to invade southern Israel, where it killed some 1,200 people and took 251 hostages, starting the Gaza war — was a disastrous example for that, said Tal Mimran of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

“I think that October 7 showed us that you can build a wall that may cost $1 billion, but if you do not patrol the border, then someone will infiltrate your country,” said Mimran, a lecturer and researcher of international law who has been closely following the Israeli military’s technological developments.

“We must take note of the opportunities and of the risks of technology,” he said. “This is the era in which artificial intelligence is exploding into our lives, and it is only natural that it will also have a manifestation in the security field.”

Hamas says it won’t develop weapons, dig tunnels during long-term truce with Israel
Who here believes them — raise your hand!
[IsraelTimes] In nonstarter for Israel, terror group is seeking comprehensive deal under which it would cede control of Gaza’s governance but would stop short of full disarmament

Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
told Arab mediators last week that it is willing to enter a long-term truce with Israel during which it would halt all military operations, including the development of weapons and the digging of tunnels, two officials familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel on Sunday.

The truce would be part of a comprehensive deal that the terror group is seeking in order to end the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
war sparked by its October 7, 2023, onslaught, a senior Paleostinian official and a diplomat from an Arab mediating country said.

Hamas is also willing to cede governing control of Gaza to an independent body of Paleostinian technocrats, as envisioned by an Egyptian proposal for the postwar administration of the Strip, the officials said.

To enforce the halt on military activities against Israel, some Hamas officials have indicated willingness to have all of the group’s weapons placed in a guarded warehouse, according to the Arab diplomat.

As for the length of the truce, Hamas is willing for it to last five, 10 or even 15 years, the Paleostinian official said.

The idea goes further than Hamas has been willing to to go in the past, but still falls well short of the full disarmament that Israel is demanding, and is accordingly a nonstarter.

The comprehensive deal that Hamas negotiators have proposed to Arab mediators would see the return of all remaining Israeli hostages in one batch in exchange for an agreed-upon number of Paleostinian prisoners, the officials said.

The deal would also see a permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the reopening of crossings to allow for the entry of humanitarian aid and the commencement of reconstruction.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his opposition to such a deal on Saturday night, asserting that Israel would not agree to end the war and withdraw from Gaza, even if that meant securing the release of all remaining 59 hostages, as doing so would leave Hamas in power in Gaza — an outcome he would not allow.

Some of his opponents have argued that Israel should prioritize freeing the hostages and deal with Hamas’s dismantlement afterward, but Netanyahu asserted Saturday that this wouldn’t be possible as the terror group is seeking "binding" international commitments that would block Israel from attacking after a comprehensive deal is reached.

In January, Netanyahu agreed to a phased ceasefire deal with Hamas that effectively blocked Israel from resuming the war. The framework secured the release of 33 hostages during a six-week first phase. Toward the beginning of that phase, the sides were supposed to begin negotiations regarding the terms of the second phase, which envisioned a permanent ceasefire and a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

Not wanting to implement those latter two conditions,
….more truly, not at all even slightly trusting Hamas to hold up their end of the bargain, which they quickly commenced not doing…
Israel largely refused to hold negotiations on the second phase, instead seeking to rework the terms of the deal in order to secure another interim ceasefire during which additional hostages would be released without ruling out an IDF return to fighting afterward.

While the Trump administration has backed this effort, Hamas has rebuffed all such proposals, leading Israel to resume intensive military operations throughout Gaza on March 18.

Over 1,500 Paleostinians have been killed since, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry, whose figures haven’t been verified and don’t differentiate between civilians and combatants.

Hamas has since shifted away from utter rejection of the idea of another interim ceasefire but is still seeking guarantees from the mediators that Israel will hold negotiations on the terms of a permanent ceasefire, which Jerusalem has yet to agree to, the Paleostinian official and the Arab diplomat said.

Accordingly, talks have remained at an impasse.

Iranian press cautiously optimistic on nuclear talks, touts Tehran’s leverage
[IsraelTimes] Conservative Kayhan newspaper says ‘Iran’s military might has forced America to negotiate’; regime still refusing to dismantle nuclear program as part of any deal

The Iranian media is portraying Tehran as holding a strong position after Saturday’s nuclear talks with the United States, ahead of further discussions in Oman in the coming days.

The headline of the Kayhan newspaper, whose editorial line has long opposed any compromise or negotiations with the US, read: “Iran’s military might has forced America to negotiate.”

The conservative daily has expressed complacency in recent days as the two countries — foes since shortly after the 1979 Islamic Revolution — reported progress during talks in Rome.

“Americans need us and the credibility that negotiations with Iran give them,” wrote the newspaper, while still describing US President Donald Trump as an “untrustworthy psychopath” and “unpredictable.”

Iran maintains that there has been no direct interaction with the United States during the two rounds of talks on April 12 and 19, insisting that all communication has gone through Omani intermediaries. However, US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff met briefly with Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi shortly after the first round of talks on April 12.

The talks have raised hopes in Iran of an improvement in the country’s dire economic situation.

State news agency IRNA said the Iranian stock market saw a “historic” boost on Saturday, while the rial strengthened on the black market, trading at around 830,000 to the dollar on Sunday, an improvement from over one million to the dollar before the talks began.

Technical discussions between Iranian and US experts are scheduled for Wednesday in Oman, before further talks on Saturday between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

Iran considers any discussion involving the complete dismantling of its nuclear program, its missiles, or its support for armed groups hostile to Israel, including Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen, to be a “red line.”

Tunisia opposition figures get jail terms in mass trial; defense pans ‘masquerade’
[IsraelTimes] Court hands out sentences of up to 66 years for 40 defendants, including prominent opponents of President Saied; French intellectual Bernard Henri-Levy said ordered jailed in absentia

A Tunisian court has handed down jail sentences of up to 66 years to multiple defendants, including prominent opposition figures, in a mass trial criticized by rights groups.

The trial, decried by a defense lawyer as a "masquerade," is of unprecedented scale with around 40 defendants including vocal critics of President Kais Saied.

A prosecutor cited on Saturday by local media announced sentences ranging from 13 to 66 years for the defendants, accused of "conspiracy against state security" and "belonging to a terrorist group."

However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
a list communicated to AFP by several lawyers, and "subject to official confirmation," indicates minimum sentences of four years.

Among those sentenced were well-known opposition figures, lawyers and business people, with some already in prison for two years while others were in exile or still free.

Appeals are planned, defense lawyer Abdessatar Messaoudi said.

Bassam Khawaja of Human Rights Watch posted on X: "The court did not give even a semblance of a fair trial." The charges, he said, "appear unfounded and based on no credible evidence."

According to the list supplied by lawyers, those accused who are abroad, including French intellectual Bernard Henri-Levy, received 33-year jail terms.

The same penalty was handed down to feminist activist Bochra Belhaj Hmida and the former head of the presidential office, Nadia Akacha.

Issam Chebbi and Jawhar Ben Mbarek of the opposition National Salvation Front coalition, as well as lawyer Ridha Belhaj and activist Chaima Issa, were sentenced to 18 years behind bars, Messaoudi told AFP.

HARSHEST PENALTY
Activist Khayam Turki was handed a 48-year term while businessman Kamel Eltaief received the harshest penalty — 66 years in prison, the list showed.

Turki’s cousin, Hayder Turki, told AFP he was "very saddened" by the verdict, saying: "He doesn’t deserve this — he’s a great man, his crime was being involved in politics."

Two former leaders of the Islamist Ennahdha party,
...the Muslim Brotherhood in Tunisia...
which was Saied’s main rival, were also sentenced. Abdelhamid Jelassi and Noureddine Bhiri received 13 and 43 years respectively, according to the list.

Kamel Jendoubi, a rights advocate and former minister tried in absentia, decried a "judicial liquidation" by the courts.

"This is not a judiciary ruling, but a political decree executed by judges under orders, by complicit prosecutors and by a justice minister" who all serve "a paranoid autocrat," Jendoubi charged.

Since Saied launched a power grab in the summer of 2021 and assumed total control, rights advocates and opposition figures have decried a rollback of freedoms in the North African country where the 2011 Arab Spring began.

Late Friday, defense lawyers denounced the trial after the judge finished reading the accusations and began deliberation without hearing from either the prosecution or the defense.

One lawyer, Samia Abbou, told AFP there were "flagrant violations of judicial procedure" with the accused "not heard" during the "masquerade."

Friday’s hearing lasted much of the day and was held amid tight security. Media and foreign diplomats were barred from the proceedings.

Since the trial began on March 4, defense lawyers have repeatedly called for all the defendants to appear in court, including at least six who went on a hunger strike.

The lawyers denounced the case as "empty," while HRW said the trial was taking place in the context of repression with Saied "weaponizing the judicial system to target opponents and dissidents."

Analyst Hatem Nafti posted on X that any acquittal in the mass trial "would have negated the conspiratorial narrative that the regime has relied on since 2021" and "accepted by a large part of the population" relying on restricted media coverage.

Egypt's revenue from the Suez Canal plunged sharply in 2024
[AnNahar] Egypt's revenue from the Suez Canal plunged by almost two thirds last year, officials said Wednesday, attributing the sharp drop to regional tensions and wars in the Middle East that have impacted traffic through the key waterway.

The canal is a major source of foreign currency for the Egyptian government, with about 10% of world trade flowing through the waterway in recent years.

The Suez Canal Authority, which runs the waterway, said the canal generated an annual revenue of $3.991 billion in 2024, down from a historic high of $10.25 billion in 2023, according to a statement posted on its Facebook page.

Canal traffic has been significantly disrupted after Yemen's Iran-backed Iran's Houthi sock puppets rebels started to threaten maritime trade and targeting vessels heading to Israel through the Suez Canal to pressure Israel to stop the war in Gazoo, which started on Oct. 7, 2023.

Between November 2023 and January 2024, the Houthis targeted over 100 merchant vessels with missiles and drones, sinking two ships and killing four sailors. The rebels insisted the attacks would continue as long as the wars go on and have devastated shipping through the region.

According to the Egyptian canal authority, only 13,213 ships passed through the canal in 2024, marking a 50% decline compared to the number of ships in 2023, when over 26,000 ships passed through.

Still, canal authority chief Osama Rabie said that the attacks challenge the region but have not prevented Egypt from continuing to provide its navigational and maritime services in the Suez.

The International Monetary Fund reported in March 2024 that the Suez Canal trade dropped by 50% in the first two months of that year, compared to the previous year, citing attacks on vessels in the Red Sea.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi's government in 2015 completed a significant expansion of the Suez Canal, adding a second shipping lane and allowing it to handle some of the world's largest vessels.

The canal, which connects the Mediterranean and the Red seas, was opened in 1869. It serves as a vital artery for global trade — a crucial link for oil, natural gas and cargo. The canal authority operates a system of convoys, consisting of one northbound and one southbound per day.

Israel cancels entry visas for 27 left-wing French lawmakers
[IsraelTimes] Israel canceled visas for 27 French left-wing politicians and local officials two days before they were to start a visit to Israel and the Paleostinian territories, the group says.

The action came only days after Israel stopped two British members of parliament from the governing Labour party from entering the country.

Israel’s interior ministry says visas for the 27 were canceled under a law that allows authorities to ban people who could act against the State of Israel.

Seventeen members of the group, from La Belle France’s Ecologist and Communist parties, say they have been victims of "collective punishment" by Israel and call on French President Emmanuel Macron to intervene.

They say in a statement that they had been invited on a five-day trip by the French consulate in Jerusalem. They had intended to visit Israel and the Paleostinian territories, as part of their mission to "strengthen international cooperation and the culture of peace," they add.

"For the first time, two days before our departure, the Israeli authorities canceled our entry visas that had been approved one month ago," they say. "We want to understand what led to this sudden decision, which resembles collective punishment."

The delegation included National Assembly deputies Francois Ruffin, Alexis Corbiere and Julie Ozenne from the Ecologist party, Communist deputy Soumya Bourouaha, and Communist senator Marianne Margate. The other members were left-wing town mayors and local politicians.

" as a condition for their approval of an anti-war demonstration this Thursday in Tel Aviv.

In a letter sent to organizers first obtained by Haaretz, police further prohibited anti-war demonstrators from displaying signs with the word "genocide" on them.

After Haaretz reportedly reached out to law enforcement about the letter, police stated they had sent organizers updated instructions.

Protest organizer Alon-Lee Green, co-director of the joint Jewish-Arab "Standing Together" movement, tells The Times of Israel that it seems as if police have since backtracked from their initial demands.

"We’ll take them to the High Court if they persist, and win," he adds.

Protest organizers tell Haaretz that the initial letter is an attempt to censor messages in protest of the war and government, and that the "police’s actions show that it is a political organization."

The letter marks the first time in recent months that law enforcement has formally hinged approval for a demonstration on the condition protesters refrain from displaying what police describe as "incendiary" slogans, according to the Hebrew daily. But police who are on the ground at anti-war protests regularly seize what they deem provocative signs, often carrying out widespread arrests.

Police earlier this month arrested 23 protesters at a small anti-war demonstration in Haifa, tearing away protesters signs that read "Stop bombing aid convoys" and "Stop the genocide."

Officers sought to extend the detention of three protesters the next day, however their request was rejected by the Haifa Magistrate’s Court.

Trump threatens to cut another $1 billion in Harvard funding, WSJ reports
[IsraelTimes] US President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...
is threatening to cut another $1 billion in funding for Harvard University, this time targeting health research, the Wall Street Journal reports, as the administration’s row with elite schools escalates.

The Trump administration has withheld government funding from Harvard, Columbia and other universities in response to their tolerance of pro-Paleostinian demonstrations in what the administration has labeled a failure to control antisemitism on campus.

Harvard pushed back last week, rejecting demands for control of its student body, faculty and curriculum, saying that would cede control of the university to the government.

Within hours of Harvard taking its stand, the administration announced it was freezing $2.3 billion in federal funding to the school and the next day threatened to strip Harvard of its tax-exempt status.

The Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, reports the plans to pull an additional $1 billion in research funds arose after administration officials thought a long list of demands they sent Harvard on April 11 was a confidential starting point for negotiations, and officials were surprised when Harvard released the letter to the public.

Trump officials had been planning to treat Harvard more leniently than Columbia but now want to increase the pressure on Harvard, the Journal reports.

After blows to proxies, Iran advances space program with Russian assistance
[IsraelTimes] Islamic Republic said to build 54-square-mile complex with spaceport at Chabahar; experts say space technology could enhance Tehran’s long-range missile capabilities

The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. is reportedly building a major spaceport as part of an effort to maintain its regional prowess following major blows to its proxies across the Middle East.

Bloomberg detailed the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s plans to build the facility, likened to Florida’s Cape Canaveral, in Chabahar, a launch site close to the equator, making it more efficient for launches.

The site, which was supposed to open last year, will contain a 54-square-mile complex, allowing Iran to launch powerful spacecraft into orbit, the Friday report said.

The program has reportedly raised concerns among Western nations — particularly the US and Israel — that Iranian space technology could be used to advance the country’s intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capabilities.

"Iran’s work on space-launch vehicles — including its two-stage, liquid-fueled Simorgh satellite carrier rocket — likely shortens the timeline to produce an ICBM due to the similarities in technology," General Anthony Cotton, commander of US Strategic Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee last month.

One of the program’s reported aims is to send to space 20 internet satellites named after Qassem Soleimani
, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps Quds Force commander killed by a US drone in 2020.

With more satellites, Iran could better guide its long-range weapons, according to the report. John Sheldon, an Abu Dhabi-based founding partner at AstroAnalytica, a space consulting firm, was quoted as saying the Iranians "could become much more precise in their targeting and have quicker reaction times to launch their own ballistic missile forces to hit targets much more precisely."

The report did not provide precise figures regarding the costs of the program, though a senior Iranian official reportedly said last November that approximately $11 million would be provided to Iran’s space agency, despite the sanctions that have crippled the Iranian economy.

According to the report, the program is also being supported by Iran’s strategic relationship with Russia, as both countries face sanctions from the West. Russian President Vladimir Putin

and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a 20-year strategic pact in January.

"What Russia definitely has is the expertise," Juliana Suess, a researcher at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, was quoted as saying. "That’s something that Iran is after."

In October, two Iranian-made satellites were sent into orbit from Russia. Iranian drones have also been used throughout Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The advancement of the program has led the UK and the EU to sanction Brigadier General Ali Jafarabadi, who leads the IRGC’s space division. The UK has also sanctioned the Iranian Space Agency.

"Our enemies constantly try to prevent us from standing on our own feet, but this has driven us to achieve scientific and technological advancements," Pezeshkian said of the program in February.

Matthew Schmidt, an associate professor of national security and political science at the University of New Haven, told Bloomberg that the Iranian space program’s advancements are motivated by the blows the country’s proxies were recently dealt in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel...
and Syria.

"Iran has a need now, especially after the losses of its proxy power to Israel, to reestablish some kind of pathway to do power projection," he said. "They see space technology and aeronautical technology as a place to do it."

Iran has not explicitly said whether the program is intended for military purposes, claiming that its goal is to achieve the same technological capabilities as Western countries.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
Iran has called for the destruction of Israel for decades and launched barrages of long-range missiles at its adversary twice in the past year.

The Islamic Theocratic Republic recently began negotiations with the US on its nuclear program, aiming to reach a deal that will ease sanctions. It is unclear whether the Omani-mediated talks are making headway.

Iran claims that its nuclear program is intended only for civilian purposes, but it nevertheless has enriched uranium to levels that are only necessary for developing an atomic bomb.

Leb Army says foiled rocket attack on Israel, seized weapons
[AnNahar] Lebanese authorities have detained several people who they say were planning to launch rockets into Israel and confiscated the weapons they were intending to use, the military said Sunday.

The army said in a statement that the arrests are linked to other detentions announced earlier this week. It added that as military intelligence was investigating that case they got information that a new rocket attack was being planned.

The army said troops raided an apartment near the southern port city of Sidon and confiscated some of the rockets and the launchers and "detained several people who were involved in the operation." The clash occurred in the Elasha Biyaha area after al-Shabaab fighters launched a surprise attack on a military base located in the district. The assault triggered an intense shootout between the two sides.

Witnesses told Shabelle Radio by phone that they heard heavy weaponry being exchanged throughout the night. The situation returned to normality after the battle had ceased.

Casualties were reported, though the exact number of dead or injured remains unclear as of Sunday morning. Security authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.

The Elasha Biyaha area, located southwest of the capital, has previously witnessed similar attacks by the bully boy group, which seeks to oust the UN-backed Somali government.

Somali government deployed elite police and intellgence soldiers to the area during the Holy month of Ramadan, to avert possible al-Shabaab attacks against the capital city.

Somalia: Puntland Forces Kill Over 40 Militants in Major Blow to ISIS
[Garowe] As the third phase of operations against ISIS forces of Evil starts in northern Somalia, the Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
Defense Forces killed over 40 fighters, Saturday, officials said, in a move that further weakens the group, which is fighting to control the region.

The Puntland forces are working closely with the US Africa Command and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the crackdown, with the two partners providing important aerial surveillance operations, which are critical in seizing strategic bases.

According to military officials, the latest operation targeted ISIS bases in the Togga Miraale area within the Bari region, where the forces of Evil have reportedly been hiding since the operation Lightning was initiated earlier this year.

"Our forces dealt a decisive blow to the terrorists, clearing key command sites and reclaiming strategic ground," General Mohammed Mohamud Faadhigo, spokesperson for the operation, told news hounds. "Togga Miiraale had long served as one of their last major refuges."

The offensive also effectively foiled a planned suicide kaboom by the hard boys, who were going after the Puntland military base within the expansive mountainous Cal-Miskaad region. The attack disrupted the hard boys' activities, officials noted.

Military commanders described the area’s complex geography, deep gorges, and steep mountain ranges as a longtime advantage for forces of Evil seeking cover. But the success provided yet another important victory for the group, officials added.

"Togga Miiraale will be remembered as the place where ISIS met its final defeat in Somalia," one commander said, noting that a third phase of the offensive is now underway to eliminate remaining cells scattered across the region.

Puntland is fighting to eliminate the ISIS forces of Evil within the Bari region, which is a gateway to the strategic commercial capital of Puntland — Bosaso, which is situated along the Indian Ocean coastline in Somalia.

Pope Francis has died
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[RIA] Pope Francis has died, Reuters reports , citing the Vatican.

"Pope Francis has died," the publication says.

As Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, clarified, the pontiff's death was recorded at 7:35 a.m.

"Today <…> Bishop Francis of Rome has returned to the Father's house. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage and universal love, especially for the poorest and most disadvantaged. With great gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we entrust the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the One and Triune God," the Holy See press service quotes the cardinal as saying.

The Pope was 88 years old. In mid-February, he was hospitalized at Rome's Gemelli Hospital for treatment of bronchitis, and then tests showed the onset of double pneumonia. The Pope spent five weeks in the hospital, suffered four respiratory crises, and had two near-fatalities.

The pontiff was discharged on March 23, and since then he has only appeared in public twice, the last time being on the eve of his death, when he congratulated the faithful on Easter. He also gave several audiences, including receiving the British King Charles III in early April and the US Vice President J.D. Vance on Holy Saturday.

Argentine Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope on March 13, 2013, following the abdication of Benedict XVI. He was the first person from the New World to be elected to the Holy See.

[RIA] Despite the Easter truce, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continued to fire artillery and strike with UAVs at troop positions and civilian objects, the Defense Ministry reported.

The main points from the military department's report:

All groups of Russian troops in the SVO zone strictly observed the ceasefire from 18:00 on April 19 to 00:00 on April 21.

️ Ukrainian military continued to carry out strikes, and 4,900 ceasefire violations were recorded.

️ The Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted six attacks in the DPR and Kursk region, but the Russian military repelled them.

️ During the ceasefire, Ukrainian troops used 90 drones, eight of them outside the SVO zone, all of them were shot down.

️ A total of 1,404 artillery, MLRS and mortar attacks were carried out, as well as 3,316 quadcopter strikes were carried out on Russian troop positions.

️A total of 19 shelling attacks, 49 FPV drone strikes and 16 UAV munition drops were carried out in the border areas of the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions.

️ In general, during the daytime, the intensity of fire and combat operations by the enemy along the entire front line was significantly reduced.

With the end of the ceasefire, the Russian Armed Forces continued to conduct a special military operation.

On Saturday, President Vladimir Putin declared an Easter truce. It came into effect at 18:00 Moscow time and lasted until 00:00 Moscow time on April 21. As the president emphasized, he assumes that Kiev will follow Moscow's example. At the same time, Russian troops must be prepared to repel possible violations of the ceasefire and provocations by the enemy, the head of state said.

At the same time, the day before, Ukrainian troops continued to strike Russian cities, despite the ceasefire.

There was one major and only three rather minor ports under Houthi control and they are being blasted to smithereens. Very soon, trade will only be carried out through the southernmost ports in the Hadhramaut, and once again the Yemeni population will be rushing pellmell to return to where it belongs -- the 13th Century.

Waste of the Day: States Failed to Recover Pandemic Overpayments [$10B]
[GatewayPundit] Topline: Ten state-level agencies accidentally overpaid $10.4 billion — and possibly much more — to people filing for unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of the overpayments were genuine mistakes, but an estimated $676.3 million was fraud.
The thing was designed to not merely allow but encourage fraud, preferentially feeding money to favoured groups of Friends of the Democrats.
Key facts: That’s according to a report from the Department of Labor that was conducted by the consulting group Regis & Associates. It reviewed labor departments in Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin from April 2020 to September 2022. Each state was paying unemployment insurance using federal funds sent through the CARES Act.
Call the DOGE crew! Or, you know, contact those Republican-congrolled states putting together DOGE initiatives of their own, like Florida.

Democrat Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs Vetoes ICE Act, Which Would Mandate Law Enforcement Help Facilitate Deportations
[GatewayPundit] Democrat Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has vetoed the ICE Act, which would have mandated state and local law enforcement to cooperate with federal officials to facilitate deportations.
"Abortion Mouse squeaks..."
The legislation, Senate Bill 1164, aimed to have local authorities assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement with identification, detainment, and deportation of illegal aliens.

Additionally, the bill barred any town or city from declaring “Sanctuary” policies that would restrict or hinder ICE actions.

In her veto letter, Hobbs wrote, “Today I vetoed Senate Bill 1164. Arizonans, not Washington, DC politicians, must decide what’s best for Arizona.”

“I will continue to work with the federal government on true border security, but we should not force state and local officials to take marching orders from Washington D.C.,” Hobbs concluded.

Arizona House Democrats publicly celebrated Hobbs overruling the vote of the Republican-controlled legislature.

In a post on X, the House Democrats wrote, “Thank you @GovernorHobbs for the veto on SB1164! Racial profiling, sowing division, fear and trampling on due process rights should have no place in Arizona.”

An estimated 275,000 illegal aliens are living in the state.

OpenAI CEO: Being courteous to ChatGPT is an expensive waste
[Jpost] Sam Altman reveals that using polite language with chatbots like ChatGPT wastes millions of dollars in electricity and computing resources, urging a shift towards more efficient interactions.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company responsible for the artificial intelligence software, ChatGPT, revealed this week that courteous, polite behavior with chatbots, such as saying "please" and "thank you," costs millions of dollars in electricity and unnecessary computing activity.

According to Altman, such politeness leads to a "global waste" that contributes to a tangible environmental impact.

Saying "please" or "thank you" may seem trivial, but it requires the system to interpret, process, and craft a full response, sometimes for long, complex texts. Every such interaction consumes electricity and costly computing time in advanced data centers.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
A Conspiracy Theory Pushed By Left Claims Something Really Big Is Going To Happen Today Yesterday
[ZeroHedge] Most people on the right have no idea just how crazed many people on the left have become. Right now, a conspiracy theory which claims that President Trump is preparing to declare martial law in the United States is spreading like wildfire on social media.

According to that conspiracy theory, a report will be submitted to President Trump on April 20th which will recommend that he should invoke the Insurrection Act to help deal with the border crisis. That would allow U.S. troops to help secure the border, but many leftists are convinced that President Trump will also use U.S. troops to round up political activists and send them to prisons in El Salvador. I realize that this may sound really bizarre to many of you, but this is what many of them actually believe.

Early last month, an article that was published by the San Francisco Chronicle got the ball rolling by highlighting the fact that the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security will soon submit a report to President Trump recommending whether or not to invoke the Insurrection Act…

The clock is ticking down on a crucial but little-noticed part of President Donald Trump’s first round of executive orders — the one tasking the secretaries of the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security to submit a joint report, within 90 days, recommending “whether to invoke the Insurrection Act.”

Many of us are now holding our collective breath, knowing that the report and what it contains could put us on the slippery slope toward unchecked presidential power under a man with an affinity for ironfisted dictators.

That is not exactly an honest characterization of what that executive order says. I have reproduced the relevant portion of that particular executive order below…

Within 90 days of the date of this proclamation, the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall submit a joint report to the President about the conditions at the southern border of the United States and any recommendations regarding additional actions that may be necessary to obtain complete operational control of the southern border, including whether to invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807.

The Trump administration wants to use U.S. troops to help secure the border, and that is probably what we are going to see.

But many leftists are absolutely convinced that we are also about to see martial law in this country.

An article that was authored by an anonymous leftist known as “Aletheisthenes” that was entitled “Part 1: On April 20th, 2025, the United States may Cross the Point of No Return” has created a firestorm of panic among far left radicals. According to that article, once President Trump officially invokes the Insurrection Act it will set a “larger plan in motion”…

And as his two months in office has already shown, he won’t stop at just a legal opinion.

Expect an executive order even that same day or the next, officially declaring the Insurrection Act, restricting freedoms in the name of restoring control of the border and perhaps in blue-state cities, and setting the larger plan in motion.

Of course, this won’t be framed as an attack on democracy. It will be packaged as a necessary response to crisis — as authoritarian takeovers always are.

But once it happens, there’s no going back.

This will be the point of no return.

Aletheisthenes believes that the plan to implement martial law in this nation will unfold in eight stages…

1. “Resist!” Demonstrations Grow — Just As Planned

2. The False Flag Crisis: Turning Protest into “Terror”

3. Trump Declares Expanded Martial Law — And Calls for Militia to assist the police and Military

4. Mass Arrests of Opposition Leaders

5. Military & National Guard Take Over Major Cities

6. Press Censorship & Total Media Control

7. Borders Close & Dissidents Are Trapped Inside

8. Elections Are “Postponed” Indefinitely

Needless to say, this is not what Trump intends to do.

But I do believe that anti-Trump protests funded by very deep pockets on the left will continue to grow, and every time President Trump does something to try to keep those protests under control it will fuel their delusions even more.

-Land of the Free
Defund The Cartels: A Smarter Plan For The Border
[ZeroHedge] I don’t fit neatly into a political box, especially when it comes to immigration. I’m a wife to a man who came here illegally at 16. I’ve taken legal guardianship of an unaccompanied minor and folded him into my family. I work in both hospitality and agriculture—industries that rely heavily on immigrant labor. My views on the border don’t align with any party line, and I’m aware that people on both sides of the aisle might find something in this article to disagree with. But that doesn’t make the conversation less necessary. It makes it more urgent.

America needs labor. That’s not up for debate. We’ve raised a few generations of kids who are not equipped for hard, uncomfortable work—especially those who came of age during the pandemic. I’ve had over 350 employees at any one time in my businesses, and I’ve watched the workforce shift dramatically in just 10 years.

At the same time, I believe a border wall is not racist.

A wall, like a fence or a locked front door, doesn’t carry moral weight. Strong borders make good neighbors. But let’s be honest: the southern border is already secured—just not by us. It’s secured by the Mexican cartels.

Every person crossing is paying $10,000 to $13,000 to make that journey—not including the pre-planned robbery that happens to nearly every person along the way, and sometimes additional financial extortion afterward.

We’re not just turning a blind eye to this—we’re funding it.

Our labor shortage—our need for labor—is creating a massive revenue source for the cartels.

Many commentators scream, “Come legally!”—but the reality is, there are almost no viable legal pathways for Mexicans to do so.

Unlike people from other countries, Mexicans cannot easily claim asylum. Citizens of many Central and South American nations can claim asylum and stay in the United States while they await trial—a process that often takes five to 10 years. Even if their claim is denied, most never leave. Mexicans do not have this option. We are effectively prioritizing other nations over our immediate neighbor, and it makes no sense. We should be prioritizing Mexico first, and then Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.

The humanitarian crisis is not what the media portrays. The real crisis is what happens before these people arrive - the women and children abused, trafficked, and disappeared in cartel territory.

It’s the man who hasn’t seen his mother in 20 years, or the woman who has children on both sides of the border and cannot return to see her children or grandchildren. She may never see her children here again. These are real stories. I live with them in my family and in my community. My husband didn’t see his mother for 12 years prior to marrying me and becoming an American citizen.

Yes, America is a melting pot. Yes, we welcome the tired and the poor. But no, we cannot take everyone. It’s not sustainable. And pretending otherwise only perpetuates suffering.

Let’s create a 10-year low-skill work visa. It would cost $10,000 - money that currently goes to cartels. Workers would be permitted to come and go, visit family, and live with dignity. Employment would be mandatory; workers could not remain unemployed longer than three months. Applicants must have no criminal history. This visa would never lead to citizenship, even through marriage. The best case would be a green card, but not a vote. Workers would pay taxes and contribute $10 per paycheck to Social Security, which they would never draw from. After 10 years, the visa could be renewed once—or the worker could return home.

We would prioritize Mexico, and then Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras—because a strong neighbor is national security. If your neighbor’s house is burning down, your own home is at risk.

A strong, thriving Mexico makes for a safer America.

A healthy economy and stable society in the countries closest to us reduces pressure on our border and increases mutual prosperity.

This plan would dismantle the cartels’ business model, reunite families, end the incentive to bring children as props for border entry, and redirect billions of dollars from crime syndicates to the U.S. government. Migrants could fly directly into cities where jobs await—no more treacherous desert crossings or predatory smugglers.

One side of the aisle screams that we don’t want them—but still enjoys the literal fruits of their labor. The other side screams “humanitarian crisis” and “racism”—but takes no meaningful action, even when in power.

In closing, I believe there’s a solution that supports integrity for our border, for our businesses, for our families, and for our neighbors.

But both sides of the aisle have not been interested in real solutions for a long time—and that begs the question: why?

What is the benefit of the gray? What is the benefit of a system that is clearly broken and leads to drugs, rape, murder, and chaos?

El Salvador offers Venezuela prisoner swap involving US deportees
[BBC] El Salvador's president has offered to repatriate 252 Venezuelans deported by the US and imprisoned in his country - if Venezuela releases the same number of political prisoners.

Nayib Bukele appealed directly to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in a post on social media.

He said many of the Venezuelan deportees had committed "rape and murder", while Venezuelan political prisoners were jailed only because they opposed Maduro, whose re-election last year is widely disputed.

Later Venezuela's chief prosecutor Tarek William Saab criticised Bukele's proposal. He demanded to know what crimes the deportees were accused of, whether they had appeared before a judge or had access to legal counsel.

The Venezuelan government argues that it has no political prisoners - a claim rejected by rights groups.

In a post on X, Bukele wrote: "I want to propose you [Maduro] a humanitarian agreement calling for the repatriation of 100% of the 252 Venezuelans who were deported, in exchange for the release... of the identical number from among the thousands of political prisoners that you hold".

He also mentioned nearly 50 prisoners of other nationalities, including US citizens, as part of the proposed swap.

In recent weeks, more than 200 Venezuelans were sent from the US to El Salvador.

President Donald Trump's administration accuses them of being members of the Tren de Aragua criminal gang.

Washington pays El Salvador to keep those deported in its notorious high-security Terrorism Confinement Center.

Bukele calls himself "the world's coolest dictator" and won re-election last year riding a wave of popularity for a sweeping anti-gang crackdown.

Maduro has condemned the US deportation of Venezuelans to El Salvador, describing it as "kidnapping" and a "massive abuse" of human rights.

Since taking office in January, Trump's hard-line immigration policies have encountered a number of legal hurdles.

In the latest development, the US Supreme Court on Saturday ordered Washington to pause the deportation of another group of alleged Venezuelan gang members.

The White House has called challenges to using the law for mass deportations "meritless litigation".

Trump has sent accused Venezuelan gang members under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, which gives the president power to detain and deport natives or citizens of "enemy" nations without usual processes.

The act was previously used only three times, all during war.

Top justice turns against SCOTUS move to halt Trump's deportations
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Illegal migrant buses heading to airport is forced to turn around after bombshell SCOTUS ruling.

Extraordinary footage has emerged showing busloads of aVenezuelan detainees in the process of being deported before a stunning Supreme Court intervention.

The buses, loaded with at least 28 migrants, were heading from ICE's Bluebonnet Detention Center to Abilene Airport on Friday, according to NBC.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement buses were closely followed by a motorcade of 18 squad cars from varying law enforcement agencies.

The detainees - primarily Venezuelan - were driven back to the detention center after a bombshell Supreme Court ruling.

Justice Samuel Alito, one of the nation's top ranking legal authorities, has since issued a fiery dissent to the decision - which forced the Trump administration to temporarily halt the deportation of any Venezuelans held in a northern Texas detention facility under an 18th-century wartime law.

In his written ruling, Alito cited a government lawyer who insisted the administration had no intention of deporting anyone on Good Friday or Easter Saturday.

Judy Maldonado Rall, whose husband was reportedly on the bus at the time, said her husband was told by a guard he was headed toward the hellhole El Salvadorian prison where Trump has previously sent more than 200 suspected gang members.

She said after the buses were turned around, a guard told her husband: 'Well, you were lucky you were sent back because you were going to El Salvador, not Venezuela.'

That evening, the Supreme Court was weighing an urgent request to block the administration from conducting any deportations.

Simultaneously, Trump's nemesis Judge James Boasberg was hearing a case on the same matter. Lee Gelernt, a lawyer representing the American Civil Liberties Union, told the court: 'We hear they are on buses on the way to the airport.'

That sprung Boasberg into action, and he asked Justice Department lawyer Drew Ensign to ensure no Bluebonnet detainees were being deported under the Alien Enemies Act on Friday night.

Boasberg was burned by the administration before, after his ruling to turn planes carrying deportees around to ensure due process went ignored.

By early Saturday morning, a 7-2 Supreme Court majority ruled Trump must not deport any Venezuelans held in the northern Texas detention facility.

His administration invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to justify sending hundreds of suspected gang members and illegal migrants to a hellish El Salvadorian prison last month.

Alito's sharp dissent argued the court acted 'literally in the middle of the night' and with 'dubious factual support' to take the extraordinary measure of blocking the government.

#1  To me, it looks like SCOTUS has held deportations of Venezuelans under the Enemies Act only. It seems like the government has a strong case for the legality of the process so this is more of a delay. I don’t see any indication that regular deportations are on hold. Gang members and criminals continue to be eligible for regular deportation.

High-ranking Dem Jamie Raskin threatens countries that support Trump: ‘When we come back to power … we are not going to look kindly'
[NYPost] Rep. Jamie Raskin
...hanky-headed Congressman-for-life from Maryland's 8th congressional district since 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in the Maryland State Senate from 2007 to 2016. Raskin co-chairs the Congressional Freethought Caucus, which pushes (and defines) reason and science. In 2017 the newly-elected Raskin and several other members of the House objected to the certification of the 2016 presidential election because of (muh!) Russia. He was the lead impeachment manager for the second impeachment of President Donald Trump. Raskin was one of seven Democrats appointed to pack the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Before his election to Congress he was just another lefty law professor....
threatened foreign leaders who "facilitated authoritarianism in our country" by currying favor with President Trump on issues like deportation — saying that Democrats will not "look kindly" on his supporters when they "come back to power."

Referencing El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele specifically, Raskin (D-Md.), 62, suggested that Dems should keep score of foreign leaders who brownnose Trump, 78, during his second term.

"Implicit in it should be the idea that if and when we come back to power — and we will — we are not going to look kindly upon people who ... facilitated authoritarianism in our country," Raskin told "Pod Save America" host Tommy Vietor in an episode that dropped Saturday.

Vietor had told Raskin that a Latin American policy expert suggested to him that Democrats should "threaten to take action against any foreign government that participates in the extraordinary rendition of American citizens."

Trump has tapped into warpowers under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to rapidly deport alleged gangbangers outside of traditional deportation channels to El Salvador’s notorious Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) megaprison.

So far, those deportations have pertained to illegal immigrants, but Trump has publicly mused about exploring the legality of shipping extremely violent criminals who are US citizens to foreign countries.

Raskin praised the concept of putting foreign countries on notice and called for cutting off foreign aid to El Salvador in response to its cooperation with the Trump administration’s deportations of alleged gangbangers via warpowers.

"The whole idea that Bukele doesn’t have any power to return an American prisoner who was sent to him under an agreement where he’s getting paid $6 million by America is ridiculous," Raskin contended. "He’s our legal agent in this dubious arrangement they created. Of course, he’s got the power to return them."

Last week, Bukele met with Trump in the White House, becoming the first Latin American leader to do so, and claimed that he lacked the power to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the US, calling questions about returning him "preposterous."

Abrego Garcia, 29, a citizen of El Salvador, had illegally entered the US in 2011, and was blocked from being deported back home in a 2019 court decision due to gang threats against him.

The Trump administration deported him to El Salvador last month in what its attorneys initially described as an "error." Top officials have since defended his deportation and alleged that he’s had ties to MS-13, something his attorneys and family deny.

Raskin added that his party needs to engage "in far more work of transnational Democrat solidarity" to try and "prevent the spread of lawlessness and the fascist chaos that’s been unleashed against us."

Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of Trump in Congress.

He had previously been a top defender of Hunter Biden from GOP-backed inquiries into the scandal-scarred first son.

A former constitutional law professor, Raskin argued that "we’re living in something like a gangster state right now" under Trump.

"We have to stop that, obviously, to prevent a slide into complete dictatorship," Raskin said of the administration’s use of foreign prison systems.

"Donald Trump is a convicted criminal. Could he be sent off to a foreign prison?," he mused.

"We’ve got to become the leaders of a nationwide popular movement to arrest the descent into fascism in America," he argued before pivoting to slamming tech guru Elon Musk’s kindred spirits in Silicon Valley.

"These people really believe that democracy is defunct. They say we live in a constitutional America."

"I believe we can bring our hostages home without surrendering to Hamas's dictates," Netanyahu said, in his first comments since Hamas, seeking a permanent end to the Gaza war, rejected a new truce proposal.

"We are at a critical stage of the campaign, and at this point, we need patience and determination to win."

Netanyahu insisted that ending the war now would embolden the country's enemies.

"Ending the war under these surrender conditions would send a message to all of Israel's enemies: that abducting Israelis can bring Israel to its knees. It would prove that terrorism pays -- and that message would endanger the entire free world," he said.

Hamas, Netanyahu said, was "demanding the end of the war and the continuation of its rule", as well as a full Israeli withdrawal, "which would enable Hamas to rearm and plan more attacks against us".

"If we commit to ending the war, we will not be able to resume fighting in Gaza," he said.

"So I ask you -- did our soldiers fight in vain? Did our heroes fall and suffer for nothing?"

The deaths mark the latest in America’s intensified campaign of strikes targeting the rebels. The US military’s Central Command declines to answer questions about the strike or discuss civilian casualties from its campaign.

The Houthis describe the strike as hitting the Farwa neighborhood market in Sanaa’s Shuub district. That area has been targeted before by the Americans.

Strikes overnight into Monday also hit other areas of the country, including Yemen’s Amran, Hodeida, Marib and Saada governorates.

The strikes come after US airstrikes hit the Ras Isa fuel port in Yemen last week, killing at least 74 people and wounding 171 others.

Real identity of Boko Haram Commander in Kwara, Mahmouda revealed
[PMNEWSNIGERIA] Contrary to recent reports circulating on social and traditional media suggesting the emergence of a new terrorist organization in Kwara State, Mahmouda, security sources have clarified that it is not a name of a new terrorist group but rather a known Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
commander.

Mahmouda is said to be a veteran Boko Haram fighter who initially operated in Borno State before relocating to Kaduna, where he briefly collaborated with the notorious terror kingpin, Sadiku.

He later moved into the Shiroro and Rafi axis of Niger State, where he aligned with the remnants of Darul Salam, recruiting dozens of youths and enforcing Death Eater laws particularly on Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
herdsmen.

Security intelligence confirms that Mahmouda has since moved some of his fighters further southwest into the forests bordering Kwara State, where he has established ties with local bandit groups.

These elements are not a new organization but are extensions of Boko Haram collaborating with bandidos already operating in the North West.

This clarification comes in the wake of past denials from security agencies. When intelligence analyst Zagazola Makama previously raised the alarm about the movement of gunnies toward Kwara, the Police issued a rebuttal, describing the report as fear-mongering.

Borno Govt receives 230 repentant insurgents from Operation Safe Corridor
[GUARDIAN.NG] The Borno Government has received 230 repentant bandidos bully boys from the Operation Safe Corridor.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the repentant bandidos bully boys graduated from the Federal Government's Operation Safe Corridor Deradicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (DRR) Camp in Malam Sidi, Gombe State.

The bandidos bully boys who are all indigenes of Borno, were among 390 individuals formerly associated with Boko Haram

who voluntarily surrendered to the Nigerian Army and completed the DRR programme.

Speaking at the joint graduation ceremony for Batches six and seven, the Coordinator of Operation Safe Corridor, Brig.-Gen. Yusuf Ali, commended the multi-agency collaboration that made the programme successful, and urged communities to support the reintegration efforts.

He said that they underwent six months of structured rehabilitation, including psychological counselling, religious reorientation, civic education, and vocational training, aimed at transforming them into responsible citizens.

The commandant of the DRR Camp, Col. A.A. Johnson, said the programme was designed to address both ideological and behavioural issues, adding that the oath of allegiance taken by the graduates signified their readiness to embrace peace and national unity.

Russians retreat in Pokrovsky direction - Armed Forces of Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] The occupiers are not achieving success in this direction, despite the significant resources they are concentrating on assaults.

Russian troops in the Pokrovsky direction have suffered significant losses and are forced to retreat. This was stated by the representative of the OSGV Khortitsa Viktor Tregubov on television.

It is noted that despite the fact that Russian troops continue to actively try to capture Pokrovsk, the latest attempts have been accompanied by significant losses for the Russians.

According to Tregubov, the occupiers are not achieving success in this direction, despite the significant resources they are concentrating on the assaults.

"Pokrovsk remains the most intensive direction. An interesting element of the Pokrovsk direction is that it is there, despite the fact that the Russians are making the greatest efforts, that they have the least success," Tregubov said.

He added that a major assault had recently taken place, during which 90 motorcycles were used, but all of them were destroyed along with their crews.

According to Tregubov, in the Kotlinoe area and to the west of it, Russian troops have even begun to retreat. Ukrainian defenders continue to firmly hold their positions, not allowing the enemy to advance on key lines.

Let us recall that 127 combat clashes occurred on the front over the past 24 hours , most of them in the Pokrovsky direction . Over the past 24 hours, aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Defense Forces hit 15 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, three UAV control points, two air defense systems, five missile forces and artillery of the Russian invaders.

Gunmen kill at least 56 people in central Nigeria
[FRANCE24] Gunmen killed at least 56 people earlier this week in central Nigeria's Benue state, the governor's office said Saturday, sharply revising a previous toll of 17.

Clashes between nomadic cattle herders and farmers over land use are common in central Nigeria. Governor Hyacinth Alia had earlier blamed the attacks in the Ukum and Logo local government areas on "suspected herdsmen".

With many herders belonging to the Moslem Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
ethnic group, and many farmers Christian, the attacks in Nigeria's so-called Middle Belt often take on a religious or ethnic dimension. Two attacks by unidentified button men earlier this month in neighbouring Plateau state left more than 100 people dead.

"The corpse count has jumped to 56 from the attacks as at the last count," Solomon Iorpev, the governor's media advisor, told AFP following Alia's visit to the scene.

That figure could rise as search-and-rescue operations continue, he added.

The attacks happened Thursday night into Friday, sparking the deployment of security forces.

The government-owned News Agency of Nigeria reported over the weekend that the country's defence minister was visiting Plateau state.

Back-to-back massacres — more than 50 people killed in two districts — in Plateau state this month have marked a serious escalation in the state, with authorities scrambling to contain the attacks in a region where ethnic tensions have long simmered.

Plateau state authorities have claimed the killings were part of a "genocide" that was "sponsored by terrorists".

Critics say that rhetoric masks the true causes of the conflict — disputes over land and a failure by authorities and police to govern the countryside.

Since 2019, the festivities have claimed more than 500 lives in the region and forced 2.2 million people to leave their homes, according to research firm SBM Intelligence.

A local herder group denounced the Plateau state killings while also noting that its own members have been under attack by farmers.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russia has revealed how the Day of United Actions in Memory of the Genocide is being celebrated
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Russia annually holds the Day of United Actions in memory of the genocide of the Soviet people by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War. On this day, events are held in schools, universities, scientific and cultural institutions, regional and municipal institutions, and non-profit organizations. Every year, more than 10 million students take part in a single lesson as part of the Day of United Actions.

In 2025, the organizers are the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, ANO ASTIK, the All-Russian public movement "Search Movement of Russia", and the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. Over the five years of the Day of United Actions in Memory of the Genocide, initiated by ANO ASTIK within the framework of the "No Statute of Limitations" project of the All-Russian public movement "Search Movement of Russia", a huge pool of departments and non-profit organizations have joined in its implementation.

The first deputy chairperson of the RF OP commission on volunteerism and youth policy, director of ANO ASTIK Elena Rodionova opened the work of the Action Center "Without Statute of Limitations". She noted that at present no one needs to be proven that historical memory, knowledge of the crimes of the Nazis, of the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War are not just words, pain, history and even the present of the Russian people.

"And knowledge is the basis that allows us to prevent new crimes against humanity. This is the basis for understanding the tasks of a special military operation, this is the understanding of the essence of the modern agenda by any sane person. Even a few years ago, such concepts as "genocide" and "Nazism" that were distant for young people have today become the basis for reasonable civil creation. I thank all partners and, of course, our youth! Over the five years of holding the Day of United Actions, together as a single team, we have created the most important understanding: a person is the main value," said the first deputy chairperson of the RF OP Commission on Volunteering and Youth Policy.

After Rodionova's words, the Action Center "Without Statute of Limitations" held live broadcasts from the most interesting events in the regions with interviews and opinions of regional public opinion leaders, and feedback from participants.

"Our guys on the front line are worthily performing combat missions, demonstrating courage and heroism. They are performing a great feat, defending our Motherland from the fascist scum, which formed again years later. They are repeating the feat of our great-grandfathers and grandfathers who fought in the Great Patriotic War," said Alexander Uryupin, holder of two Orders of Courage, participant of the SVO, participant of the presidential program "Time of Heroes."

The SVO participant noted that these pages of our past remind us of the terrible trials experienced by the people of Russia and the need to remember and respect our history and traditions, honor the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland and at the same time remember the lessons of history. According to Uryupin, this is necessary to maintain peace and harmony in society.

Associate Professor of the Department of Preschool, Primary Education and Methods of Teaching General Education Disciplines of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University named after I. N. Ulyanov", Candidate of Historical Sciences Marina Bravina stated that the preservation of historical memory today should become effective. From words about importance, it is necessary to move on to actions, the associate professor emphasized.

“One of these actions should be a technology for effectively countering the falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War. Its essence is as follows. They take a lie — a false thesis, a conclusion — and package it as the truth. They make a catchy headline, and the falsification is ready. But it looks like the truth. I can give an example of such a fake. People who were born and raised in the USSR remember the story of the Salaspils children's camp, which the Nazis turned into a living blood bank for German soldiers and officers.

In February 2018, an updated exhibition was opened in Latvia, which now talks about the health-improving nature of the camp. Where did they get this from? From the memoirs of former underage prisoner of the camp Ivan Syrtsov, where he writes that children were given a glass of milk and bread with jam. “You see,” the falsifiers shout, “German children did not have such a diet.” And they hush up the fact that all these products improve the composition of the blood. “This is how falsification occurs,” Bravina said.

According to Marina Ponomareva, Director of the Institute of History and International Relations of the Southern Federal University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, April 19 is a significant memorial date for the Rostov Region. The trial on the recognition of the genocide of the Soviet people on the territory of the Rostov Region during its occupation, which took place in 2022, confirmed the number of civilian casualties, the associate professor clarified.

"It was established that during the Nazi occupation of the Rostov Region, 182,061 civilians and prisoners of war were hanged, shot, tortured and taken into German slavery. On this day, events are held in universities, schools, near monuments and in memorial places in the Rostov Region, during which residents remember the innocent victims of the occupation," Ponomareva said.

Head of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation Elena Malysheva noted that on the Day of United Actions, memorial events and actions, film screenings and theater performances, educational meetings and literary and creative programs are held in schools, universities, scientific and cultural institutions from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. The head of the center believes that it is important to approach all planned events informally, but deeply and consciously, since this is not just a set of events, but an expression of a general civic position of rejection of Nazism both in historical retrospect and in modern times.

"The courts of the regions of Russia have issued 34 decisions recognizing the fact of genocide committed by the Nazis and their accomplices against peaceful Soviet citizens and prisoners of war. In this regard, the Day of United Actions is more relevant than ever in our historical memory. Despite the fact that the National Center of Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation was created only a year and a half ago, it was the expert community that has united today around the National Center that stood at the origins of the "No Statute of Limitations" project and was involved in supporting all the court proceedings," Malysheva said.

In the West, genocide is still associated only with the concept of the "Holocaust" - since it was the Holocaust that was integrated into the Western agenda and very few people abroad spoke about the genocide of the Slavs, said Alexander Zvyagintsev, Deputy Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"In the Western narrative, it is practically absent to this day! But genocide is not limited to national characteristics, geographical location or time period. And today, 80 years after the end of World War II, our former allies in the fight against Nazism do not see national fascism as a global threat to humanity. They turned it from an enemy into their comrade-in-arms and partner," Zvyagintsev explained.

Another airstrike on a car in Kaouthariyet el-Saiyad town claimed the life of one citizen and injured two others.

The Israeli occupation army also carried out multiple airstrikes today on different areas of southern Lebanon, according to the National News Agency.

The Israeli occupation army has continued to carry out near-daily strikes on Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Tel Aviv that sought to halt more than a year of attacks on the Arab country.

Under the agreement, the Israeli occupation was to withdraw all its forces from south Lebanon, but despite the deal, these forces have remained at five south Lebanon positions.
Under the agreement, Hezbollah was to withdraw all its forces north of the Litani River, which has not happened yet, stop shooting rockets at Israel, which has not happened yet, and not try to rearm which has definitely not happened yet. Technically, the agreement has never been in force, despite the world fussing at Israel about it.

Arabia
President Mahdi al-Mashat speaks on Yemen's victories over US and Israeli military capacities

[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
's President Mahdi al-Mashat chaired a high-level meeting of the National Defense Council to address the latest developments concerning the ongoing US military aggression against Yemen and to reaffirm Yemen's commitment to supporting the Paleostinian people in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
'The aggression has failed from its first day. We previously obtained information to thwart the aggression before it occurred, preventing much potential damage,'' President al-Mashat said during the meeting.

''If the Americans mobilize more, it means their weapons have failed. The confirmed information we have is that the ''Truman'' lost its command and control and became out of service from the early days of the aggression.''

He added, ''We obtained intelligence that allowed us to thwart the aggression before it occurred, sparing us from many potential damages. Confirmed information indicates the Truman lost command and control, becoming non-operational in the aggression's early days.''

He further stated that Yemen's armed forces have overcome the US electromagnetic interception system—a technology that Washington had previously touted as a major strategic deterrent against Russia and China.

''Within ten days,'' he said, ''our missile forces overcame the system, and strikes have now successfully reached Israeli territory.''

Al-Mashat called this achievement as a significant military and symbolic victory for Yemen.

He said that the aggression against Yemen originated once or twice from the USS Truman, while the remainder of the attacks came from other locations, which Yemeni forces continue to monitor closely.

He underlined that former US President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
has ''burned all of America's strategic cards''—citing the aircraft carrier, the strategic bomber, and the highly touted electromagnetic defense system. These assets, he said, have proven ineffective in Yemen, where they were quickly neutralized or rendered irrelevant by Yemeni resistance.

President al-Mashat asserted that ''neither you nor your father, Trump, can stop us from fulfilling our humanitarian, moral, and religious duty toward the people of Gaza.'' Regardless of threats or consequences, Yemen will not waver in its support, he emphasized.

He contrasted the resilience of the Yemeni people with Trump's behavior under fire. ''A Yemeni woman stood firm against five bombs dropped by your strategic bomber,'' he said, ''while Trump panicked and the world was shaken when a single bullet grazed his ear.''

President al-Mashat stated that the three strategic options the US had long used to intimidate the world—the aircraft carrier, the strategic bomber, and the electromagnetic defense system—have all been thrown into the Yemeni quagmire.

He stressed that despite the scale of US aggression, Yemen's military infrastructure suffered minimal damage.

''On the military level, we were not harmed even 1% by everything the American has done,'' he said. ''All the massacres targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure.''

He added that the B-2 bomber, another symbol of US military might, would soon face its own reckoning. ''By God's permission, news of it will come soon,'' he said confidently.

President al-Mashat pointed out that the Truman achieved no tangible results for the enemy, which ultimately forced the US to deploy other vessels and weapons. ''Every replacement brought in is simply further evidence of their initial failure,'' he noted.

Reflecting on the nature of struggle, he remarked that ''before every victory comes an earthquake—so that God may distinguish the wicked from the good. And once purified, the righteous will be granted victory.''

President al-Mashat reiterated Yemen's unwavering support for Gaza. ''Our stance in supporting our brothers there is firm and will never be abandoned,'' he said. The current American aggression, he explained, is a direct result of Yemen's refusal to remain silent about the genocide in Gaza.

He affirmed that the US role in the region is one of complicity with Zionist crimes. ''We cannot allow the Americans and Israelis to isolate the Paleostinian people in Gaza,'' he declared. ''We will not stand by as they are slaughtered.''

Turning his criticism directly at Trump, he said that the ''Trump drowned in the quagmire of Yemen and planted resentment toward America in the hearts of the world—and he must be left in his quagmire.''

President al-Mashat warned that Trump will eventually be held accountable for the crimes committed against civilians and civilian sites in Yemen, regardless of whether he remains in office or not.

''Trump may have thought he was coming for a picnic,'' he added, but he fell into a strategic quagmire.
Uh huh. Suuuurrre.

Israeli Air Force successfully eliminated the Deputy Head of Hezbollah’s Weapons Smuggling Unit 4400 in Lebanon

Hezbollah commander killed in Israeli drone strike in south Lebanon, says IDF

[IsraelTimes] A Hezbollah commander was killed in an Israeli dronezap in southern Leb
...The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. Only one of those statements is an exaggeration....
’s Kaouthariyet al-Saiyad, located between Sidon and Tyre, earlier today, the IDF says.

The IDF says it targeted Hussein Ali Nasr, the deputy chief of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which is responsible for smuggling weapons into Lebanon.

As part of his role, the IDF says Nasr worked, alongside Iran, to smuggle weapons and funds into Lebanon to restore Hezbollah’s military capabilities. Some of the weapons and cash were smuggled via the Beirut airport, the military claims.

"Nasr was in contact with workers at the airport who were secretly operating for Hezbollah and assisting with smuggling operations. In addition, he advanced and led weapons procurement deals with smugglers along the Syria-Lebanon border. Moreover, as part of his role, he oversaw the organization’s force build-up process," the IDF says.

The military says the strikes come as part of efforts against Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which is tasked with delivering weapons from Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and its proxies to Lebanon, via Syria and Iraq.

The strikes against Unit 4400 amid the war have included the liquidations of the head of the unit, Muhammad Ja’far Qassir, in Beirut in early October 2024, and his replacement, Ali Hassan Gharib, in Damascus several weeks later, alongside other top commanders.

Eric Adams defends ICE, backs deportations, and rips the far left for standing with criminals instead of law enforcement.
[X]

The Vigilant Fox 🦊
@VigilantFox
Eric Adams just did something nobody expected—he defended ICE, and took a blowtorch to the far left for demonizing law enforcement.

And honestly? It might be the most reasonable thing he’s ever said.

Adams said speaking to Laura Trump on Fox:

“One of the big mistakes that’s being made in some parts of the far-left philosophy is that ICE is a criminal organization,”

“They are not. They are part of our law enforcement community — FBI, HSI, postal service investigators — they are part of our law enforcement community.”

He wasn’t just breaking with his old party. He was calling it out.

“We have to get bad, dangerous people off our street. I continue today of collaborating with our city, state and federal agencies to go after dangerous people.”

And when the left tries to spin deporting violent illegal immigrants into a political attack?

Adams doesn’t flinch.

“So people who want to turn this into a political agenda, I’m focused on New Yorkers,” he said. “80% of New Yorkers are stating, those who commit dangerous acts that are undocumented [illegal], after they are convicted and serve their time, they should be deported.”

Then he made it personal.

“I’m in alignment with working class people in this city and in this country,” he added. “That is what I believe in.”

The far left may want ICE gone—but Adams just flipped the script.
Like many things, "Being a welcoming society" and being a "sanctuary" sounds better in principle than it works in reality. Importing somebody else's poopy diapers makes them your poopy diapers.

Inflation is now nonexistent. Groceries cost 30-40% less than they did a few months ago. Gas, too. A fill-up costs $30 less than it did. Over half a million unemployed private sector workers now have new full time jobs. Farmers, steel workers, coal miners, oil and gas workers, anyone who gets tips or overtime are now protected/making more money. People are finally buying and selling houses again. Not to mention people selling off clothes and furniture, etc. in online garage sales.

Israel blames command error for killing Gaza medics, Red Crescent rejects report
[GEO.TV] Israel's military has acknowledged it mistakenly killed 15 Palestinian rescue workers in Gaza and will dismiss a field commander, AFP reported

''We're saying it was a mistake. We don't think it's a daily mistake,'' said investigator Major General Yoav Har-Even.

The probe cited ''professional failures'' and rejected allegations of indiscriminate fire or executions. ''The troops did not engage in indiscriminate fire,'' the military stated, saying six of the dead were later identified as Hamas members, though no weapons were found.

The Palestine Red Crescent denounced the findings as ''full of lies''. ''All the martyrs were shot in the upper part of their bodies,'' said its president. UN agencies confirmed those killed included Red Crescent, civil defence, and UNRWA staff.

Footage from a victim's phone showed ambulances with lights on, challenging Israel's claim that vehicles approached suspiciously. Israel denied concealment but confirmed the site was not reported accurately and bodies were buried to ''prevent further harm''.

'Honest People': How Stalin's Informants Broke the West's Peace with the Nazis
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Mikhail Kucherov

[REGNUM] "Yustas. According to our information, senior officers of the SD and SS security services appeared in Sweden and Switzerland, looking for access to the Allied residency. In particular, in Bern, SD people tried to establish contact with Allen Dulles' employees... A l e x s."

This cipher, which the Moscow Center sent to Berlin to SS Standartenführer von Stirlitz (aka Colonel Isayev), became the beginning of the main mission of the Soviet super-intelligence officer in "Seventeen Moments of Spring." The cipher was, of course, fiction, but the fears of the Soviet leadership were real.

The author of this book and the script of the same name for one of the most popular Soviet TV series, Yulian Semyonov, had access to archival documents, many of which will only be declassified in our time.

And - despite the fantasy of the figure of the Soviet "supermole" with access to the highest leaders of the Reich (from Heinrich Himmler to Martin Bormann ) - the eighth novel about Stirlitz was a "true detective" based on real events.

Just as, most likely, the conversation between Joseph Stalin at the nearby dacha in Kuntsevo with the curator of the “Soviet secret service abroad” that took place in the spring of 1945, reconstructed by Semyonov, had a basis.

That same Alex. Neither the book nor the film mentions this person's name, but most likely it was the head of the foreign department at the main department of the NKVD, Pavel Fitin. He signed his ciphers, if not with Alex, then with another short, common European name - Victor.

Stalin told Fitin: "Any attempt at an agreement between the fascists and the anti-Soviets of the West must be considered by you as a real possibility. Naturally... you must realize that the main figures in these possible separate negotiations will most likely be Hitler's closest associates, who have authority both among the party apparatus and among the people."

Meanwhile, in Berlin, which is being bombed by Allied aircraft and towards which the Red Army is inexorably approaching, the head of foreign intelligence of the security service (Department VI of the RSHA) Walter Schellenberg reminds his boss Himmler: "Reichsfuehrer, it is now the spring of '45, not the fall of '41." It is necessary to negotiate with the Anglo-Americans before the Russians take the citadel of the Reich, the head of intelligence hints.

This phrase was also invented by Semenov (by the way, it is in the script, based on which Tatyana Lioznova shot the film - but not in the book). But these words of Oleg Tabakov - Schellenberg are also based on real events.

Here is a real phrase from one of the last letters of Reich Minister of Armaments Albert Speer, sent to Adolf Hitler in the last days of March 1945: "You addressed me with words from which, if I understood you correctly, it clearly and unequivocally followed: if the war is lost, let the people perish too! This fate, you said, is inevitable."

Total war, the beginning of which was announced by Joseph Goebbels back in 1943, implied that the shame of November 1918 would not be repeated, Germany would perish, but would not capitulate.

But this obsession, significant for the corporal of the First World War Hitler and Goebbels, who did not have time to fight, but was poisoned by his own propaganda (including the myth of the “stab in the back”) - this suicidal idea in the spring lost all meaning for many of the top leaders of the Nazi state.

Especially when the Red Army took Königsberg and Danzig-Gdansk, advanced towards the Oder and developed an offensive on Vienna, and the Allies crossed the Rhine and pressed the Wehrmacht towards the Elbe.

THREE WERNERS AND THE SLY FOX
The first to become disillusioned with the idea of a suicidal war, along with “Russian Bolshevism” and “Anglo-American plutocrats,” were those who were not enchanted by it – the Prussian generals. They also remembered how the war on two fronts ended in 1918.

The first attempt to stop World War II took place before the war began.

In 1938, the Imperial Minister of War Werner von Blomberg (nicknamed "Siegfried with the monocle") and another Werner, the commander-in-chief of the ground forces von Fritsch, planned to remove "Corporal Hitler" and not get involved in a confrontation with the West.

"The Corporal" removed both military leaders from service - Blomberg went into retirement, and Fritsch very conveniently died at the very beginning of the Second World War.

But military conspiracies continued.

The most famous attempts to stop the war by eliminating Hitler were Major General Henning von Tresckow 's 1942 plan to blow up the Fuhrer's plane during his trip to the Eastern Front, and the famous Operation Valkyrie of 1944, inspired by the same von Tresckow.

The disagreements within the circle of conspirators are indicative.

The most famous hero of "Valkyrie", the perpetrator of the failed assassination attempt on Hitler, Claus von Stauffenberg, was sure: "We must use every opportunity to conduct political negotiations with Russia, which is our neighbor."

According to Count Stauffenberg, the last pre-war ambassador to the USSR, Werner von Schulenburg, was to become the liaison with Moscow.

But the political leader of the conspiracy, who aimed to become the chancellor of the new Germany, Carl Goerdeler, held a different opinion. As did the head of the Abwehr, Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, nicknamed the "Sly Fox", who was connected with the rebellious generals.

They were looking for a way out to the same Allen Dulles, a key employee of the US Office of Strategic Services, the future CIA, who worked on the German direction.

"The main principle of Goerdeler-Dulles-Canaris was the unilateral end to the war only in the West in the name of continuing the war against the Soviet Union. This caused a protest among young officers," noted the Soviet historian, Germanist and military translator Lev Bezymensky.

SWISS CANAL
But these were disgraced politicians, opposition-minded officers, high-ranking leaders of the Wehrmacht and military intelligence (people who were important in the structure of the Reich, but had no connection with its party-political elite). But long before the spring of 1945, treason began to mature in the Fuhrer's inner circle.

The most mysterious episode to this day remains the arrival in Britain in May 1941 of the Fuhrer's deputy for the party, Rudolf Hess. He, we recall, announced to the Lord Steward Douglas Hamilton : he had come to end the war and begin a common struggle between Germany and Great Britain against Bolshevik Russia.

Even if Hess was not “mad,” the Führer — judging by his reaction — did not sanction this adventure. As Speer recalled, Hitler, upon learning this, fell into a chair in confusion, saying: “Oh, my God! He flew over there!” and even uttered “an inarticulate, almost animal-like cry.”

Whether any of the Nazi bigwigs, other than Hess himself, were involved in his plan is something history is silent about.

The next episode looks more substantial.

In the summer of 1942, SS Brigadeführer Walter Schellenberg began to push his boss Himmler, the head of the SS, towards a scenario of reconciliation with the West.

The head of foreign intelligence believed that a figure of Himmler's stature should initiate negotiations with the Anglo-Americans while the Reich still had the strength to fight, in order to obtain the most favorable conditions.

Himmler was furious when his subordinate first floated the idea, but they soon began to seriously discuss "trading" the occupied territories.

According to this plan, the Germans were to withdraw their troops from Belgium, Holland and Northern France, building close trade ties with the French people. Austria would remain part of the Reich, and the countries of Eastern and Southeastern Europe would be governed by sovereign governments, but with close economic integration with Germany.

Himmler supported the initiative, although he said that he would immediately get rid of Schellenberg if he made the slightest mistake in its implementation.

It should be noted that Moscow had already learned of Berlin's "interesting" initiatives back in 1942. Thus, the famous intelligence officer Kim Philby reported that the German ambassador to Ankara, former chancellor (and former vice chancellor in Hitler's first cabinet) Franz von Papen was trying to contact US intelligence resident George Earle in Turkey.

But Himmler was indecisive and did not try very hard to convey Schellenberg's concept to Hitler.

He came to his senses towards the end of the war, when he realized that in order to take up an acceptable position in the post-war country, he had to “wash himself clean” of the crimes of the SS. And for this he used the same channel as Professor Pleischner and Pastor Schlag – Switzerland.

In early 1945, at a secret meeting with former Swiss President Jean-Marie Musy, Himmler reluctantly agreed to transport 1,200 Jews every two weeks to a neutral country.

The plan failed due to political intrigue: the head of the Imperial Main Security Office, Ernst Kaltenbrunner, reported to the Führer that Himmler and Schellenberg were acting behind his back, and in the eyes of Hitler, the SS chief was discredited.

Schellenberg persisted and chose as a mediator another "neutral", Sweden, which at that time had become the center of secret peace negotiations and spy games.

He arranged for Himmler to meet with the Swedish king's nephew, Count Folke Bernadotte, who convinced the SS chief to begin transporting Danish, Norwegian, Polish and Jewish prisoners from concentration camps to Sweden.

At the end of April 1945, Himmler met with the representative of the World Jewish Congress, Norbert Masur, and agreed to stop the extermination of Jews.

But the head of the SS was in no hurry to fulfill his promises, and his image in the West was so monstrous that Winston Churchill and the recently appointed President Harry Truman refused to negotiate with him.

WILLY BRANDT'S DELUSIONS
A number of modern publications suggest that Joachim Ribbentrop and even someone from Himmler's circle allegedly sought access to Soviet representatives. The most compelling evidence is a quote from the memoirs of Willy Brandt (Chancellor of Germany in 1969-1974, and an anti-fascist emigrant during the war):

"It became known that an official from Ribbentrop's department had already met in Stockholm in 1943, testing the waters, with embassy adviser Vladimir Semenov. In the end, Himmler's apparatus also tried, as one colonel put it, to establish "non-binding contact with Russia" through Stockholm.

Willy Brandt seems to have been less informed than he would have liked.
But the emigrant Brandt, although he was in Stockholm (and communicated there with people who had connections to the "Valkyrie"), hardly had information circulating through secret diplomatic channels. His "became known" is more like a retelling of rumors thrown in by someone.

If the "contacts with Russia" were not a pure conspiracy theory, they resemble "disinformation" for potential Western counterparties: if we don't reach an agreement with you, we'll reach an agreement with Stalin. A sort of Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact 2.0.

Even though this sounded fantastic at the time of the Battle of Stalingrad, the winter of 1943 was not the summer of 1939, when Soviet-German agreements were still possible.

In addition, we note that Brandt in his memoirs clearly tried to whitewash the reputation of all the participants in the "Valkyrie": "The officers who decided to rebel and the political figures associated with them sought to conclude a separate peace with the Western powers in order to then continue the war with the Soviet Union - this is one of the many legends that have been created around the plot of July 20."

They say that not only the anti-Hitler conspirator Goerdeler, but also Hitler’s inner circle, allegedly advocated for peace with the USSR.

What was actually documented, unlike Willy Brandt's stories, was Operation Sunrise (called Operation Crossword by the British), which became the basis for the key episode of Seventeen Moments of Spring.

THE CROSSWORD PUZZLE IS SOLVED
In March 1945, General Karl Wolff (who was brilliantly played in the film by Vasily Lanovoy) met with the future head of the CIA, Dulles, in Switzerland, the SS commissioner for Army Group C in Italy. Dulles had been in Switzerland since 1943, heading the residency of the Office of Strategic Services.

Dulles was helped to establish contacts with the Germans by the OSS employee and German émigré Gero von Schulze-Gaevernitz, the son-in-law of the Ruhr coal magnate Hugo Stinnes.

On the other hand, an agent of the German secret service SD, who had been planted in the OSS residency under the operational pseudonym Gabriel, reported to Berlin: Dulles does not trust his Russian allies and, moreover, hates them and considers them the main opponents of the United States.

From the German side, people from the RSHA (Reich Main Security Office) began to appear in February 1945 – envoys from Schellenberg and even his immediate superior, Ernst Kaltenbrunner.

On March 8, the first high-level contact took place in Bern: on one side, Dulles, the American General Lehman Lemnitzer and the Chief of Intelligence of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the British General Terence Airey. On the other, Wolff.

The secret negotiations (of which Moscow was not informed, as expected) discussed a separate capitulation of the northern Italian group - a plan that had been discussed earlier through the Vatican representative, the papal chamberlain Luigi Parelli. This plan was also supported by the British.

When on March 12 the commander of the Allied forces in Italy, Field Marshal Harold Alexander, true to his allied duty, informed the Soviet ambassador about some contacts regarding the capitulation of the Italian Wehrmacht group, there was what is called an awkward pause.

Especially after the State Department and the Foreign Office refused Vyacheslav Molotov’s legitimate request to include our representatives in the negotiations.

But the main thing is that Moscow, through its own channels, knew in full about the preparation, progress and nature of Operation Crossword, in particular that these were essentially preparations for a separate peace on the Western Front – in conditions when the Red Army was preparing for the battle for Berlin.

On April 5, 1945, Stalin sent Roosevelt a message that was formally polite towards the Allies (“I have never doubted your honesty and reliability, just as I have never doubted the honesty and reliability of Mr. Churchill”), but full of reproaches for trying to organize a unilateral capitulation without the participation of the USSR.

The second point of the message is especially interesting: "As for my informants, I assure you that they are very honest and modest people who perform their duties carefully and have no intention of offending anyone. These people have been tested by us in practice many times."

Thanks to Stalin's informants, Operation Sunrise, also known as Crossword, was thwarted.

DULLES SAYS GOODBYE TO PLANS
On April 20, 1945, Dulles received, not without surprise, an order from the headquarters of the Allied forces: given the conflict with Moscow, contacts with the Germans were to cease and the operation was to be curtailed.

Hitler, who apparently did not know about Wolff and Kaltenbrunner's mission, summoned both of them to the carpet, but showed no anger, merely scolding Wolff for "disregarding the opinion of the leadership."

Moreover, the Fuhrer shared his own plan: the total war would continue in three “impregnable fortresses” – in the north – in Schleswig-Holstein, in Berlin and in the south, in the Alps. At the same time, as Hitler believed, the Red Army and the Anglo-Americans, meeting in the center of Germany, would enter into a conflict, which the Reich would take advantage of.

But this, fortunately, remained an “alternative history”.

On April 16, our troops began the Berlin offensive operation, on April 25, the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front met peacefully in the city of Torgau on the Elbe with the Americans from General Hodges' 1st Army. Roosevelt acknowledged the story of the attempted negotiations as "an incident that has faded and receded into the past without having brought any benefit."

Despite all their differences, the leaders of the USSR, USA and Great Britain together brought to the end the fight against those who decided to openly renounce their monstrous views for personal gain. Most of the Berlin "peace seekers" had to answer for many years of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Himmler, however, managed to escape retribution - at the moment of his arrest by the British, he bit into an ampoule of poison. Kaltenbrunner and Schellenberg found themselves in the dock at Nuremberg, as did the first "peacemaker" Hess.

SS General Karl Wolff's retribution came after Dulles resigned as CIA director (the head of the American intelligence agency clearly favored his former negotiating partner). In 1964, a West German court sentenced Wolff to 15 years in prison for complicity in the Holocaust.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
'Diplomatic Dance': What Western Media Write About the Easter Truce
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Gevorg Mirzayan

[REGNUM] "Guided by humanitarian considerations, today from 18:00 to midnight from Sunday to Monday, the Russian side declares an Easter truce. I order all military actions to cease for this period.

We assume that the Ukrainian side will follow our example. At the same time, our troops must be prepared to repel possible violations of the ceasefire and provocations from the enemy, any of its aggressive actions."

This decision by Vladimir Putin became one of the main news items in the Western media. And they do not see any moral grounds in this decision (forgetting that Vladimir Putin is a believer and also respects the desire of other believers to celebrate Easter with dignity) or military ones.

"It looks more like a diplomatic dance than a military or moral manoeuvre," Sky News writes.

There was certainly a diplomatic component to the decision. And Western media see two points here. As The New York Times notes, it was about an appeal to Donald Trump and an attempt to put Volodymyr Zelensky in a difficult position.

With religious conservatives who honor Easter in power in the United States, “for Russia’s supporters, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement on Saturday looked like a tribute to Trump,” CNN writes.

It is also clear that Donald Trump, on the eve of his 100-day "anniversary" as president, needs some serious progress on Ukraine. "This is a ploy to keep Trump's attention and allow him to characteristically announce some kind of victory in the negotiations," The Telegraph is confident.

"The ceasefire announcement comes amid reports that the Trump administration is considering recognizing Crimea as Russian territory," the British newspaper The Guardian points out. Forgetting that Russia needs recognition of not one, but five territories.

Yes, some write that the Russian president was motivated not by trump cards but by concerns. According to Sky News, if “Trump blames Putin for the lack of progress,” this could become a problem. Others claim that Trump has already made this threat public. “The action came a day after the Trump administration made its impatience clear,” writes The New York Times.

However, this is not true. To confirm its words, the publication cites the words of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who announced his intention to reassess the US involvement in the conflict within a few days. However, in this statement, Rubio did not say anything about Russia.

The Americans clearly understood that the main reluctance to move toward peace came from Kiev. That it was Ukraine that needed to be punished for dragging out the negotiation process. So yes, partly the decision on the Easter truce, as The New York Times writes, “apparently was aimed at showing the impatient Trump administration that Moscow was still open to peace talks.”

In essence, Zelensky found himself in a bind. “He could reject the ceasefire offer and risk angering Mr. Trump. Or he could accept it and risk allowing Russia to take advantage of the planned end to the fighting to marshal its forces for a new offensive,” The New York Times writes. He initially chose the latter option, then (after calling his Western handlers and fearing the consequences) changed it to the former.

The same CNN is already justifying possible violations by Zelensky. "If Ukrainian forces suddenly and immediately stop fighting on Putin's orders, it will be a logistical nightmare for them. Some positions on the front lines could end up in the center of violent clashes," the publication writes.

He said ending the fighting would require days of preparation and readiness, and misinformation would inevitably confuse troops about how the ceasefire would be implemented, how to report or respond to violations, and even what to do when the ceasefire ends.

According to the very original opinion of The Telegraph journalists, the order received by the Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov to record Ukrainian violations is a "set-up" and pushes for "fabricating incidents". It turns out that the publication declares Zelensky a white and fluffy boy who keeps his promises. Which, of course, is absolutely not true - including in the matter of ceasefires.

Other media outlets try to be a little more objective.

“This is not the first time a pause in hostilities has been suddenly declared – a previous attempt at a ceasefire during Orthodox Christmas in January 2023 failed,” the BBC writes, laying blame on both sides.

But this is also only a half-truth - then the Kiev regime simply refused to observe the ceasefire. This is what the BBC journalists' colleagues admit.

“The proposal was dismissed by Ukraine and its allies as a cynical move to buy time on the battlefield and public goodwill,” NBC points out. Simply put, Zelensky and the collective West were flush with enthusiasm after the autumn’s successes on the front lines and believed they could handle Russia.

Now Zelensky needs a long-term ceasefire because they are finishing him off. So he not only agreed to the Easter ceasefire, but also (again, after his partners explained everything to him) offered to extend it for 30 days. And for Western media, the question now is whether Vladimir Putin will accept it.

"It remains unclear whether the cease-fire is a genuine step toward de-escalation or a strategic pause prompted by growing international pressure and Trump's rhetoric," NBC asks.

Apparently, the local journalists had not heard all the previous statements of the Russian leader, where he clearly outlined the conditions necessary for agreeing to a long-term truce. Among them are the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Russian territory, the cessation of pumping weapons into the Kyiv regime, and similar steps.

So far, Kyiv and its Western partners have not fulfilled any of the conditions.

China successfully tests non-nuclear hydrogen bomb
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Beijing has successfully tested a non-nuclear "hydrogen bomb." This was reported on April 20 by the South China Morning Post.

It is noted that the bomb developed by the Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation uses the chemical compound magnesium hydride. During testing of the device weighing two kilograms, a fireball with a temperature of more than 1 thousand degrees Celsius arose.

"When activated by conventional explosives, magnesium hydride underwent rapid thermal decomposition, releasing hydrogen gas, which ignited," the material says.

The researchers believe the combination will enable precise control of blast intensity and achieve uniform destruction of targets over a wide area.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on January 7, Chinese scientists developed a highly accurate atomic clock that could change the nature of future wars. With its help, military radars can operate synchronously at great distances from each other, as well as detect and target stealth fighters.

Last November, Beijing announced that it had developed a new type of microwave weapon that resembles the Death Star beam from the Star Wars movies. The device generates several microwave pulses that merge into a powerful energy beam and attack a target. The system can also effectively jam signals from American GPS and other satellites.

Evacuation during the 'Easter Truce'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] In the photo, soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces are evacuating our wounded from the battlefield during the "Easter truce."

And in the video below, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are evacuating their own. In a number of areas of the front, by agreement of the lower-level commanders, the day of the "truce" is used for precisely these purposes (among other things).

So far, no incidents have been reported during the collection of the wounded and killed during the "truce."

The "truce" itself, as expected, did not lead to a ceasefire, although in some areas of the front it was relatively quiet today. But in others the war went on as usual.

The "truce" ends tonight.

Zakharova noted that Kyiv did not observe the Easter truce

The Kiev regime did not observe the Easter truce and used American HIMARS systems to violate the ceasefire. This was stated on April 20 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

She commented on the statement by the US State Department, which expressed hope for an extension of the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine after Easter.

"The Kiev regime did not observe it during Easter either. Moreover, they used American HIMARS weapons on Bankova to violate the ceasefire," Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

The diplomat emphasized that this is not an accident, but a pattern, since the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, specifically targeted civilian energy infrastructure during the moratorium.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the evening of April 20 that Russian President Vladimir Putin had not given the order to extend the Easter truce.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, Putin declared an Easter truce from 18:00 Moscow time on April 19 to 00:00 Moscow time on April 21. The head of state emphasized that such a decision was made for humanitarian reasons. Russian troops will not conduct combat operations during this period of time. At the same time, the president noted that he assumes that the Ukrainian side will follow Russia's example; nevertheless, Russian fighters must be ready to repel possible provocations and violations of the truce by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Despite statements about its alleged readiness to support the Easter truce, the Kiev regime has repeatedly violated it. The Russian Defense Ministry specified that the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired at Russian positions 444 times. In addition, the Kiev regime carried out 900 attacks with quadcopter drones.

In addition, during the Easter truce, Ukrainian formations struck Donetsk, attacked settlements in the Kherson region - Aleshky, Holaya Prystan, Kakhovka. In the village of Nechayevka in the Belgorod region, two children and a woman were injured in an attack by a Ukrainian FPV drone. In the city of Gorlovka in the DPR, a civilian was injured as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

On March 18, Putin supported the proposal of US President Donald Trump for a 30-day moratorium on strikes on energy infrastructure between Russia and Ukraine. As part of the implementation of this agreement, the Russian military quickly neutralized seven of its drones that were sent to strike energy facilities in the Nikolaev region.

Zelensky publicly supported the proposal for a moratorium. But already on the night of March 19, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil depot in the Krasnodar region. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continued regular shelling of Russian energy infrastructure facilities for a month.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) argument with constituent in supermarket (at Ulta with LBGTV type)
[YouTube] Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) shared shocking footage of her foul-mouthed confrontation with a constituent who accused her of not doing townhalls while shopping at a “makeup store” on Saturday.

During the heated encounter with a man donning daisy dukes that she bashed as an “unhinged lunatic,” Mace accused him of “harassing” her and implied that he was gay, although he never divulged his sexuality in the video.

“I asked if you were doing any this year. It was one simple question,” the man says as Mace began filming.

“Do you want to keep going? You want to keep harassing me?” she hit back during the video. “You could have gone to a dozen town halls last year.”

-Lurid Crime Tales-
FSU Shooter's Family Life Was a Mess
More on this story from a few days ago. Hot Air did a good job ferreting out the appalling background.
Two people were killed an six more were injured during the mass shooting that took place Thursday at Florida State University. As I described here, the shooter was stopped in the act and sent to the hospital by police. It sounds like he's going to survive. He was later identified as Phoenix Ikner, a 20-year-old student at FSU. His mother was also identified as a local sheriff's deputy. Ikner used one of her handguns in the attack.

However, today we've got a lot more information about Ikner and his history and what it shows is a lot of family problems, including more than a decade of court battles between his parents, his mother fleeing the country with him and Ikner changing his name. Plus there's also a mention of his right-wing politics which we'll get to in a moment.

His birth name was Christian Gunnar Eriksen. His birth mother Anne-Mari Eriksen is originally from Norway and is not a deputy in Florida. The day her son was identified as the shooter, she wrote an angry post on Facebook.

'Horrible when your alienating son's dad is as mentally unstable as he is, along with his LCSO cop wife, that they can't respond when you write to ask if everything is alright with my son, who studies ar [sic] FSU,' she wrote in a now-deleted post.

'That whole familly [sic] is nuts. He should write a book on how to parent badly, but he can't communicate.'

Then, she added: 'Feel sorry for everyone at FSU and their kids.'

She and the shooter's father had long ago separated and their custody battle went on for more than a decade, from the time he was a young child until he turned 18-years-old.

By the time the suspect, Phoenix Ikner, was 6 years old, court records showed that he had to repeat kindergarten. His parents fought bitterly over every aspect of his care while accusing each other of manipulation and abuse. Judges were forced to intervene again and again as the parents traded allegations of domestic violence and stalking. The legal battle consumed nearly his entire childhood and ended only when he became an adult and most of the family court matters became moot.

The fighting culminated in 2015 when Christian Eriksen was 10-years-old. His mother said she was taking him to south Florida for a vacation but in fact she fled the country to Norway.

His biological mother, Anne-Mari Eriksen, took him in March 2015 to Norway, in violation of the custody agreement with his father, per a probable cause affidavit reviewed by PEOPLE.

During their time in Norway, Phoenix’s father told police, Anne-Mari repeatedly skirted his questions about when the child would be back in the United States.

While away in Norway, Phoenix, who at the time was named Christian Gunnar Eriksen, missed his school tests, doctor’s appointments and medications he was taking for a diagnosed growth hormone disorder and ADHD, per the affidavit.

A judge in Norway eventually ordered his return to the US and when they returned his mother was charged and given 200 days in jail plus 2 years probation. A few years later he changed his name, taking his father's name instead of his mother's.

Court records listed the suspect’s name as Christian Gunnar Eriksen until 2019, when he was 15 and his father petitioned the court on his behalf to change his name to Phoenix Ikner.

Christian spoke to a judge and said the change was in part motivated by the 2015 incident with his mother. At the time the judge said he seemed well-spoken and intelligent.

But he made a different impression later on with a political discussion group he joined at a community college he attended before transferring to FSU.

Reid Seybold, 22, a senior at Florida State, said the suspect joined a political discourse club that Mr. Seybold ran at Tallahassee State. The suspect’s time in the club was short-lived.

“He repeatedly espoused white supremacist, alt-right views to the point where people were uncomfortable, and we had to ask him to leave,” Mr. Seybold said, adding that the discussions often became “Phoenix against just about everyone else,” with the suspect escalating arguments and seeming to thrive on the opposition.

“He said Rosa Parks was in the wrong,” said Lucas Luzietti, 20, who was in a national government class with the suspect at Tallahassee State in the spring of 2023. “He strongly implied that Black people were ruining his neighborhood. He also said Joe Biden was an illegitimate president.”

So there you have it. He seems to have been looking to shock people with his political opinions and he succeeded. We'll have to wait and see if he says anything about his specific motivation for this attack. Was the motive political or is he just a troubled kid with a mess of a family life?

His maternal grandmother, is out today blaming this on Eriksen/Ikner growing up with his father and his stepmother, the one who is a sheriff's deputy.

The grandmother of alleged Florida State University gunman Phoenix Ikner reportedly accused his parents of influencing the campus shooting that left two dead and several others injured — ripping the couple as “rotten bastard people.”

Susan Eriksen blamed her grandson’s father and stepmother, Sheriff’s Deputy Jessica Ikner, for turning the “sweetest kid” into an alleged ruthless killer, who claimed the lives of two and wounded five others when he used his stepmom’s former service pistol to open fire on the Tallahassee campus Thursday afternoon.

“They taught him how to hunt, they’re bigoted people, they hated a lot of people,” the 79-year-old grandma told the DailyMail.com at her condo in the Florida capital Friday.

This appears to be a situations where there are two sides to the story but both sides are so angry that neither one is a reliable narrator.
The lad never had a chance. And now he will pay for the rest of his life.

Skyrocketing antisemitism in Canada sparks concern for country's Jews ahead of election
[FoxNews] ’Anyone who is here on a visitor visa who carries out lawbreaking will be deported from this country,' Pierre Poilievre warned non-citizen agitators

Antisemitism in Canada has exploded in the aftermath of Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, massacre, reaching record numbers last year and becoming a central issue for the country’s Jewish community ahead of an April 28 federal election.
So it should be, as it should be here.
Last week, Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, the main challenger to Prime Minister Mark Carney accused pro-Hamas protesters of staging "hate marches" and vowing to deport antisemitic foreigners from Canada.

"The rampaging chaos that we see in our streets, the targeting of synagogues and Jewish schools with hate, vandalism, violence, fire bombings ... these things were unheard of 10 years ago," Poilievre said.

He also had a warning for foreign agitators. "Anyone who is here on a visitor visa who carries out lawbreaking will be deported from this country," Poilievre said.

"To Canada's Jewish community," Poilievre added, "you are not alone, you have friends. Canadians stand with you. You have the right to wear your Star of David, your kippah, and have your mezuzah on your door. You should feel proud to be Jewish and should never have to hide your Jewishness in order to stay safe."

On Friday, Poilievre shared on X the Montreal Jewish Community Council’s call for Jewish voters to endorse him. In the video, the group's executive director, Rabbi Saul Emanuel, referencing Poilievre's support for the community, stated, "We remember who stood with us when it mattered most, and now we can all make a difference."

Emanuel noted that Jewish voters could play a decisive role in as many as 14 districts in Canada. "Our vote matters, our voice matters. That’s why I am proud to support Pierre Poilievre and I urge you to do the same," he said.

Carney has also used social media to condemn antisemitism. In a tweet wishing Jewish Canadians a happy Passover, he condemned the growing incidents, stating in part, "Together, we must confront and denounce the rising tide of antisemitism, and the threat it poses to Jewish life and safety in communities across Canada."

Yet despite his strong words against antisemitism, Carney recently faced criticism following a campaign rally in Calgary, where someone yelled at the Liberal Party leader, "There’s a genocide happening in Palestine."

"I’m aware," Carney replied. "That’s why we have an arms embargo [on Israel]."
Typical Jew-hating, labour socialist type.
The next day, Carney, who in March replaced longtime Premier Justin Trudeau, claimed he had not heard the anti-Israel demonstrator correctly.

His backtracking did not stop Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from entering the fray. He posted on X that "Canada has always sided with civilization. So should Mr. Carney.

"But instead of supporting Israel, a democracy that is fighting a just war with just means against the barbarians of Hamas, he attacks the one and only Jewish state," Netanyahu posted.

According to an annual audit released this month by B’nai Brith Canada, the total number of reported cases of Jew hatred in the country hit 6,219 in 2024, a 7.4% increase over 2023 and the highest number since the survey’s inception in 1982.

Antisemitic incidents in Canada have skyrocketed by 124.6% since 2022.

"Over the last 18 months, a new baseline has been established for antisemitism in Canada, and it's having a detrimental effect on the lives of Jewish people," Richard Robertson, director of research and advocacy at B'nai Brith Canada, told Fox News Digital. "We are seeing an increase in certain forms of antisemitism, specifically anti-Zionism."

Irwin Cotler, a former justice minister and attorney general of Canada for the Liberal Party, told Fox News Digital "antisemitism has become mainstream, normalized and legitimized in the political, popular, academic, media, entertainment and sport cultures. All this happened in the absence of outrage," he said.

"I hope that whichever party gets elected, we will see deliverables in combating specific hate crime, hate speech, harassment, assault, vandalism and all the things you find reported in the [B’nai Brith] annual report. From my experience, even those statistics are not telling the true story. They are underreported."

The antisemitism survey highlighted numerous incidents, ranging from Quebec daily La Presse publishing a cartoon depicting Netanyahu as Nosferatu, a vampire associated with Jews in Nazi-era propaganda and a pro-Hamas protester at the University of Toronto shouting at a Jewish student that Hitler should have "murdered all of you."

In May, an arsonist ignited a fire at the entrance to the Schara Tzedeck Synagogue in Vancouver as prayers concluded. The same month, shots were fired at the Bais Chaya Mushka girls’ school in Toronto, and the school has since been targeted twice more by gunfire. In August, a bomb threat affected Jewish institutions across the country. In December, a firebomb struck Congregation Beth Tikvah in Montreal, the second such attack since Oct. 7, 2023.

Thereafter, Israeli President Isaac Herzog called on the Canadian government to take action to "stamp out" antisemitism.

Trudeau, who was widely panned for failing to adequately address the groundswell of antisemitism, had announced the summit within hours of Herzog’s condemnation.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: April 20, 2025
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22.39 Since the beginning of the day, there have been 86 combat clashes on the front. Russian troops used 704 kamikaze drones and carried out 1,519 shellings of populated areas and positions of our troops. This was noted in the General Staff report.

20:43 Ukraine proposes to stop any strikes by long-range drones and missiles on civilian infrastructure for at least 30 days. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"There were no air raid sirens today. Therefore, this is the format of silence that has been achieved and which is easiest to extend. Ukraine proposes to refrain from any strikes by long-range drones and missiles on civilian infrastructure for a period of at least 30 days with the possibility of extension," the head of state emphasized.

He explained that if the Russian Federation does not agree to such a step, it will be proof that it “wants to continue doing only what destroys people’s lives and continues the war.”

18.43 The bodies of dead men and women were removed from under the rubble of a house in Konstantinovka after an airstrike . This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service.

"Yesterday, the occupiers attacked the residential sector of the city, destroying a private residential building. This morning, the bodies of a dead man and woman were removed from under the rubble," the statement said.

17:31 As of 16:00, Russian troops are only increasing the use of heavy weapons. The Ukrainian army is acting in complete mirror image to the Russians. This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

From the beginning of the day until 16:00, a total of 46 Russian assault actions took place in different directions and 901 shellings, including 448 from heavy weapons. More than four hundred uses of FPV by the Russians have already been recorded.

The head of state noted that the greatest Russian military activity this Easter was in the Pokrovsky direction.

"In the Toretsk direction, our soldiers, unfortunately, fell into a Russian ambush. There are casualties. The Russian soldiers who did this will be destroyed," Zelensky said.

The President assured that the Ukrainian army is acting and will continue to act in a completely mirror-like manner.

15:57 Almost half of the chromium needed to produce Russian cannons and shells was supplied by a company from Bavaria, Handelsblatt reports, citing export data.

According to the information released, Franconia-based EKC exported chrome worth 24.2 million euros to Russia from January 2023 to April 2024. This represents approximately 50% of Russia's total chrome imports during the period.

Chromium is a critical material for the Russian defense industry: it coats gun barrels to reduce wear and shells to prevent corrosion. German defense industry officials say chromium can triple the service life of artillery systems.

14:55 Despite the declared "ceasefire", the Russians continue to attack Ukrainian positions along the entire front line. This was reported on television by the spokesman for the State Border Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko.

"Despite the fact that Russia noted that it is introducing a ceasefire, they continue to shell the positions of Ukrainian defenders both within the Sumy region and within the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, in fact, along the front line. This is what our servicemen located there are recording," he noted.

13:57 Russia increased shelling on the front on the morning of April 20. According to the report of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Sirsky, from 00:00 to 12:00 of this day, 26 Russian assault actions have already taken place. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

13:20 In the Kherson region, a man blew himself up on a mine while riding a motorcycle. This was reported on April 20 by the Kherson OVA. It is noted that the incident occurred in the Novoraysk community.

12:59 Russian troops in the Pokrovsk direction suffered significant losses and are forced to retreat. This was stated by the speaker of the OSGV Khortytsia Viktor Tregubov on television. According to him, the occupiers are not succeeding in this direction, despite the significant resources that they are concentrating on assaults.

11:59 The representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Andriy Yusov said that after a large exchange of prisoners on the eve of Easter, the next operations are being prepared to return the Ukrainians. He said this on TV.

11:19 In the Liman direction, operators of the Signum unit of the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Vladimir Monomakh destroyed the most modern enemy tank T-80BVM with drones. This was reported by the operational-strategic group of forces Khortytsia, publishing a video of the combat work.

10:40 On the evening of April 19, Russians attacked a community in the Sinelnyky district of Dnipropetrovsk region. Private houses were damaged. This was reported on April 29 by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA Serhiy Lysak.

9:55 Over the past 24 hours, 127 combat clashes took place on the front, most of them in the Pokrovsk direction. Over the past 24 hours, aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces hit 15 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, three UAV control points, two air defense systems, five missile troops and artillery of the Russian invaders. This was reported on April 20 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

9:26 On April 19, the Russian military carried out a combined attack on the Kherson region. There is one dead and one wounded. This was reported by the Kherson OVA. It is noted that in Stanislav, a man born in 1967 died, he received injuries incompatible with life. Another four people were wounded.

8.52 The total combat losses of Russian troops from the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine to April 20, 2025 amount to about 941,100 people, including 950 people in the last 24 hours. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

8:10 In two weeks, the Security Service of Ukraine has destroyed 610 positions and fortifications, as well as 15 ammunition depots of the Russians. This was reported by the SBU. It is noted that the special forces of the SBU CSO A destroyed and hit 53 tanks, 78 combat armored vehicles, 101 artillery systems and MLRS, 13 air defense systems, 5 electronic warfare/reconnaissance, 810 vehicles, 40 UAVs and 225 communication antennas. In addition, 610 enemy positions and fortifications, 15 ammunition depots and one fuel and lubricants train were destroyed.

7.45 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia is trying to create a general impression of a ceasefire, but sometimes does not abandon individual attempts to advance and inflict losses on Ukraine. He said this after the report of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Sirsky on the situation on the front as of 6:00 on April 20. Zelensky emphasized that 59 Russian shellings and five assault actions by Russian units have already occurred in different directions of the frontline.

7.22 Russia continues to keep a missile carrier in the Black Sea for the second day in a row. This was reported on April 20 by the Ukrainian Navy. As of 06:00, one ship carrying Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo of up to six missiles was recorded in the Black Sea.

5.58 US Special Representative Keith Kellogg announced new talks in London next week to try to reach a ceasefire in Ukraine in the short term. In his opinion, the US has a "pretty good solution".

0.54 The ceasefire promised by Putin extended only to some sections of the front, where, according to Zelensky, "it has become quieter". In other areas, Russian artillery continues to sound, Russian drones are used. The ceasefire did not extend to the Kursk and Belgorod regions at all - fighting continues there.
