Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian Authority snubbing Israeli offer to quietly run Rafah border crossing
[IsraelTimes] Israel, Egypt trade blame for continued closure of key crossing; PM wanted Ramallah’s officers to operate under guise of local aid group, fearing opposition from far-right partners.

Israel is trying to convince the Paleostinian Authority to help manage the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. side of the Rafah Border Crossing with Egypt but has been rebuffed by Ramallah, a US official told The Times of Israel on Monday.

The offer was the first time that Israel quietly proposed having some PA involvement in Gaza after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the idea for months, sometimes equating the PA in the West Bank to the Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
terror group.

But the proposal came with a significant caveat — the officers at the crossing would have to identify themselves as part of a local humanitarian organization because Netanyahu fears that official PA involvement at Rafah would not be accepted by his far-right coalition partners, the US official said, confirming reporting in the Axios news site.

Israel launched a military operation last week to take over the Gaza side of Rafah, shuttering one of the only crossings for delivering aid into Egypt.

Israel is seeking to prevent Hamas from profiting off of activity at the gate, thwart continued weapons smuggling from Egypt and dismantle a primary institution of Hamas’s illusory sovereignty in Gaza.

But the move has sparked a major diplomatic spat with Egypt, which fears that an Israeli operation along its border could lead Paleostinians sheltering in Rafah to breach the fence and pour into the Sinai.

Israel has sought to coordinate the operation with Egypt, but has apparently failed to do so, as Jerusalem says Cairo is refusing to reopen its side of the crossing for aid to come in, citing security concerns.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry denounced what he called Israel’s attempt to blame Egypt for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying Israel’s seizure of the crossing as well as its military operations in the area were the main reasons that aid has been unable to enter Gaza.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz’s office said he had held several calls with European counterparts to try and solve the matter, indicating that ties are so poor with Egypt that he cannot reach out to Shoukry directly or that his influence in the Israeli government is limited.

Even if Egypt did reopen its side of Rafah, Israel appears to have launched the operation without first securing an agreement from another body to replace Hamas at the crossing, the US official said, adding that the request to the PA was only made after the fact.

Ramallah rejected the Israeli request, saying it would only agree to take over Rafah if Israel agreed to the plan being crafted by Arab allies to eventually establish a Paleostinian state, a Paleostinian official told Sky News.

The US official said the sides are still working to try and find a solution to the issue given the need to reopen the crossing for aid as soon as possible.

Quoting an unnamed source, Axios reported that Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar told his Egyptian counterpart Abbas Kamel that Israel wants to reopen the Rafah crossing, but will not allow Hamas to return to the area.

"This is a security necessity on which we will not compromise," Katz tweeted Tuesday.

US sending Israel $1 billion in military aid, Biden administration tells Congress
The Biden administration is happy to promise jam yesterday and jam tomorrow, but somehow it’s never jam today for certain parties of the second part.
[IsraelTimes] First major deal since American president said he would stymie sales of offensive weapons includes ammunition for tanks, mortar rounds and tactical vehicles

The Biden administration has told key politicians it is sending a new package of more than $1 billion in arms and ammunition to Israel, three congressional aides said Tuesday.

It’s the first arms shipment to Israel to be announced by the administration since it put another arms transfer — consisting of 3,500 high-payload bombs — on hold earlier in the month. The administration has said it paused that earlier transfer to keep Israel from using the bombs in its growing offensive in the crowded southern Gazoo

city of Rafah.

The congressional aides spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an arms transfer that has not yet been made public.

The package being sent includes about $700 million for tank ammunition, $500 million in tactical vehicles and $60 million in mortar rounds, the aides said.

There was no immediate indication of when the arms would be sent.
See?
Israel is now seven months into its war against the Hamas terror group in Gaza.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the plans to move the package.

House Republicans were planning this week to advance a bill to mandate the delivery of offensive weaponry for Israel. The bid followed Biden’s announcement last week that he had paused bomb shipments, and could block future arms transfers if Israel’s military invades populated parts of Rafah in southern Gazoo. The White House said Tuesday that Biden would veto the bill if it were to pass Congress. The bill also has practically no chance in the Democratic-controlled Senate. But House Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
are somewhat divided on the issue, and roughly two dozen have signed onto a letter to the Biden administration saying they were "deeply concerned about the message" sent by pausing the bomb shipment.

In addition to the written veto threat, the White House has been in touch with various politicians and congressional aides about the legislation, according to an administration official.

"We strongly, strongly oppose attempts to constrain the President’s ability to deploy US security assistance consistent with US foreign policy and national security objectives," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said this week, adding that the administration plans to spend "every last cent" appropriated by Congress in the national security supplemental package that was signed into law by Biden last month.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan told news hounds on Monday that the US would continue to provide the military assistance provided in a $26 billion supplemental funding bill passed last month, but the White House paused the bombs because "we do not believe they should be dropped in densely populated cities."

Congressional rules grant the chairmen and ranking members of the Senate Foreign Relations and the House Foreign Affairs committees to review major foreign weapons deals.

Pro-Palestinian Cornell students dismantle protest camp on their own
[IsraelTimes] As campuses empty out for summer, participant says activists wanted to take down encampment on their own terms rather than awaiting police fight, but could renew protest in fall

The student encampment at Cornell University is disbanding, in a rare instance of a campus pro-Paleostinian protest dissolving on its own.

Encampments at a series of other schools have ended only after schools made agreements with protesters or called in police. Police action has led to thousands of arrests, chaotic scenes of violence and accusations of suppressing free speech. Agreements with protesters have incurred the wrath of many in the organized Jewish community, who argue that the encampments should face consequences for encouraging antisemitic behavior.

On Tuesday, Cornell University’s protesters presented a third option, taking down their tents voluntarily, well in advance of the school’s May 25 commencement and days after the school’s president, Martha Pollack, announced her impending retirement.

No deals were struck. No arrests were made. The students simply left of their own accord.

"Our Liberated Zone is closing, but the fight continues," Cornell’s chapter of Students for Justice in Paleostine announced on Instagram Monday. The post did not elaborate on the decision, but a participant said that the protesters wanted to end their demonstration on their own terms.

"It’s coming down because we wanted to take this into our control," Sivan Gordon-Buxbaum, a Jewish graduate student at Cornell who is a member of the anti-Zionist Jewish Voice for Peace, told WENY, a local station.
And now his name is searchable on the internet, so interested employers will find out what he’s been up to, in case they don’t want to work with people like that. Revolutionaries are so polarizing, donchaknow.
"We are making the choices, and we don’t want to be at the whim of the administration," Gordon-Buxbaum added. "So this is us being like, this is our choice. We’re taking this down. It will give us an opportunity to regroup, refocus, restructure, potentially in preparation for next fall."

The encampment’s conclusion also comes as Cornell’s campus is emptying out. Classes ended a week ago, and students are now in the midst of final exams, which will end next week. In recent days, several other encampments have also ended more peacefully. Those steps have usually come after a deal with university administrators to explore divestment from Israel and, in some cases, guarantee amnesty for protest leaders.

That was the case Tuesday morning at fellow Ivy League school Harvard University, where the encampment was dismantled after the school’s interim president, Alan Garber, agreed to have Harvard’s board discuss divestment with protesters, according to the Harvard Crimson. Garber, who is Jewish, stepped into the role after Claudine Gay resigned amid fallout from a December congressional hearing focused around pro-Paleostinian activism on the campus.

On May 3, the encampment at Tufts University also ended without a deal, after the administration threatened charges and organizers accused the school of acting in bad faith. Other encampments, including at the University of Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, were dismantled after organizers compiled with orders to leave. In USC’s case, nearly 100 protesters had been arrested during an earlier skirmish with police.

Cornell’s encampment said it was still negotiating with the administration, regardless of Pollack’s resignation. Its demands include divestment; the end of a partnership between Cornell and the Technion Israel Institute of Technology; a call for a ceasefire in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. ; the establishment of a Paleostinian studies department; and a statement from the university that anti-Zionism is not antisemitism. It also demanded amnesty for protesters and "restitution," including "surplus land," to Indigenous tribes in the area.

"While administration has tried to slow down negotiations, the pace is beginning to pick up," the Instagram post said. Even absent a deal, Cornell protesters declared their action a success. They said they had received "generous fiscal donations from the community," and planned to donate much of it "to charities supporting Paleostinians in Gaza."

Active for 18 days, the Cornell encampment had largely avoided the viral moments of unrest and allegations of antisemitism that have plagued other campus encampments. Cornell had drawn widespread attention early in the war when a student sent death and rape threats to his Jewish peers and a professor said at a rally that he was "exhilarated" by Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
’ Oct. 7 attack.

A handful of encampment protesters at the school had been suspended, but a Jewish professor on campus told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the group’s activities had been mostly peaceful.

"On the whole it was a textbook example of non-violent mostly peaceful civil disobedience on the demonstrators’ part," said Menachem Rosensaft, an adjunct law professor currently teaching a course on antisemitism and the law. Rosensaft is also the former general counsel of the World Jewish Congress.

In the weeks since the encampments went up, elected officials and major Jewish groups have put pressure on universities to clear the tent protests out before the semester ends. Pressure from critics on Columbia University to dismantle its own encampment last month — the first in the nation — led to the school applying force to its protesters, which in turn prompted fierce pushback nationwide. Earlier this month, Columbia canceled its own commencement.

Some encampments have been replaced by more confrontational protests. An encampment Pomona College students set up last week at the California school’s planned commencement site was abandoned after the school moved its commencement to USC’s campus instead. A group of more than 100 protesters stormed the ceremony’s new location, leading to a confrontation with police and at least one arrest.

But Rosensaft theorized that the Cornell protesters, unlike some others, were starting to wake up to the limits of their activism on campus.

"I am quite certain that the students in the encampment felt that they had made whatever point they were going to make, and that were unlikely to have any further impact," he said. "I can only assume that they realized that the administration was not going to give them additional oxygen by raising the temperature with confrontational action — and the vast majority of students and faculty were simply not prepared to support them."

Two men accused in UK of plotting ISIS-style machine gun terror attack on Jews

Two men accused of plotting to gun down Jews in an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. -inspired attack in northwest England were held without bail Tuesday after appearing in a London court.

Walid Saadaoui, 36, and Amar Hussein, 50, were accused of planning to use machine guns to kill Jews, police and military personnel, prosecutors said in Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The duo face charges of preparing terrorist acts between December 13 and May 9.

A third man, Bilel Saadaoui, 35, was accused of making arrangements for the expected death of his brother, co-defendant Walid Saadaoui.

He pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to a charge of failing to disclose information about an act of terrorism.

Defense lawyer Angelo Saponiere said Bilel Saadaoui was a family man unaware of the alleged plot.

The three were arrested last week by Greater Manchester Police. They were held without bail and are scheduled to appear May 24 for a hearing in the Central Criminal Court.
The Daily Mail has photos of Mr. Saadaoui and his home, adding:
This is the 35-year-old terror suspect arrested over a failure to disclose an alleged Isis-inspired plot to murder Jewish people in a machine gun attack.

Bilel Saadaoui has appeared in court alongside two other men after a series of raids in north-west England.

Saadaoui, from Hindley in Wigan, is charged with failure to disclose information about an act of terrorism after allegedly taking receipt of his brother's will and the key to a safe containing £75,000.

His older brother, Tunisian-born Walid Saadaoui, 36, from Abram in Wigan, was also arrested along with Amar Hussein, 50, and those two have been charged with preparation of terrorist acts.

Walid Saadaoui and Hussein had 'intended causing multiple fatalities using automatic weapons' while also targeting 'law enforcement and military', it was alleged.

Government Corruption
REPORT: Funds for Ukraine Diverted to Fake Companies.
[NationalPulse] Martyna Bohuslavets, Director of the Mezha Anti-Corruption Center, has raised alarms over the misappropriation of funds in Ukraine amidst the ongoing military conflict with Russia. Writing in Pravda, Bohuslavets reports that millions of dollars were “transferred to Kharkiv OVA to front companies of avatars.”

Bohuslavets claims that money intended for constructing military fortifications was instead siphoned off to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (Kharkiv OVA). In turn, Kharkiv OVA channeled the money into phantom companies. This issue has entered the spotlight just as Russian forces have penetrated the northern region of Ukraine.

With Russia’s offensive hitting towns and villages, the absence of the intended fortifications, amounting to 7 billion hryvnias (~$176.5), is becoming glaringly apparent.

Adding to concerns is a BBC report featuring Denys Yaroslavskyi, a regional Ukrainian commander in Kharkiv, lamenting a serious “betrayal” concerning the missing first line of defense. He alleged that promised minefields were non-existent, making it easy for the Russians to walk in. Such acts of negligence, or corruption, as he labeled them, have led to unnecessary loss of lives. “Either it was an act of negligence, or corruption. It wasn’t a failure. It was a betrayal,” Yaroslavskyi said.

News of the corruption is likely to raise questions in the U.S. about the wisdom of continued aid to Ukraine. In a March report, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) expressed concerns over the lack of supervision of resources headed to Ukraine. It highlighted the Pentagon’s insufficiencies in tracking deliveries of defense materials to Ukraine.

Europe
Rail Union Warns German Train System Turning Into
[ZH] The head of a German rail union warns that the country’s train system is turning into a “battleground” thanks to a wave of violence and intimidation being unleashed by male asylum seekers against female staff.

In an interview with Focus Online, Steffi Recknagel, the head of the Railway and Transport Union (EVG) in Thuringia, says that the average day is “sometimes life-threatening” for employees due to the sheer amount of abuse being dished out by migrants.

“I have an average of three employees sitting in my Erfurt office every week for legal advice. They were attacked, spat on, insulted, threatened or pushed,” said Recknagel, adding that female employees are being slapped, kicked, spat at and threatened with being stabbed by the ‘refugees’.

“The worst case was that a train attendant was threatened with a knife,” said Recknagel, adding that another was physically attacked from behind and “the air was knocked out of her.”

The union boss said that one stretch of the network was particularly bad, specifically the one frequented by Syrian, Afghan, and Turkish migrants from the local asylum center.

“I drive the Erfurt-Suhl route every day,” said Recknagel.

“And unfortunately, I have to say it like this: It is mostly young men from the initial reception center who misbehave completely on our trains. They always travel in groups and feel strong together.”

Instead of intervening when the migrants engage in violent or threatening behavior towards other passengers, train staff look the other way or even run and hide in locked compartments to avoid becoming the next victim.

“Our people are afraid, very afraid. We have employees who say: If these groups are on the train, then I won’t check tickets. Then, they say they’ll stay at the front with the train driver or lock themselves in their cabin until they get to a safe station and they get out,” said Recknagel.

She noted that nothing ever happens to the migrants who behave in such a manner, with the police largely powerless to step in.

A four page letter sent to Thuringia Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (Left Party) complains that female workers have been subjected to “sexist insults and spit on in a disgusting manner,” which includes migrants flashing their genitals.

The letter notes that the chaos is almost entirely the responsibility of “people with a migration background,” including one incident where rival migrants fought a running battle, leaving an entire train compartment covered in blood.

“Our colleague had to continue the journey to the Suhl train station in fear of death and with a railcar that was heavily contaminated with human blood,” states the letter. “We don’t need to talk at this point about the psychological consequences for our still very young colleague and the passengers, given the scenes that could have come from a civil war zone!”

The letter goes on to vent fury about how Germans are being told to embrace “tolerance towards migrants” while being violently attacked by migrants.

“How can you expect citizens of this country to be open to the refugee policy that is being practiced when it happens — practically every day, and not just on public transport! — that we have to witness such violence, brutalization and absolute contempt for our laws and society?”

The Alternative for Germany (AfD), the country’s leading anti-mass migration party which the establishment is trying to ban, responded to the story by asserting, “The railway and transport union in Thuringia is sounding the alarm: Train attendants and railway employees are regularly attacked, spat on, insulted, threatened or beaten.”

As we recently highlighted, foreign migrant suspects are responsible for nearly 6 in 10 violent crimes in Germany according to new figures released by the federal government.

Despite comprising roughly 14.6 per cent of the population, foreign migrants were responsible for 58.5 per cent of all violent crimes.

China writes off interest-free loans given to Zimbabwe
[ZeroHedge] China has unexpectedly forgiven all of Zimbabwe’s debts. Estimates suggest the total amount could be as high as $10 billion.

It is worth noting that the Zimbos are under sanctions, and as such are in the naughty books of the IMF and the World Bank. Lucky them as both are parasites.

China has eagerly filled this niche by lending and forgiving debts.

Now, before you get all giddy about those nice Chinese being all cuddly and philanthropic, realise that in the real world they’ll have cut some deals.

Likely a 20-cents-on-the-dollar type of deal.

In other words, something like this, “You owe us $10 billion, and can’t pay? What a shame. How about we forgive it, have a beer and oh… well, maybe let us, you know, ”look after” that port of yours over there. Yes, we know it’s worth something north of $100 billion. Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of it. Promise!”

The map below indicates all of China’s investments and forgiven debts in Africa.

Here’s the point worth noting. China is actively becoming the continent’s main trade and political partner. Conquest by trade was how the Inca became dominant. Not a terrible strategy.

Considering that Africa is the only continent with a huge potential for development, these investments will likely pay off massively in the future.

If I was a betting man, I’d say China will become the net beneficiary of all this chaos. Whether or not it is helpful to Africa remains to be seen.

They’ll become subjugated — this time by China rather than the IMF, World Bank, and Western globalists. We wait to find out what it looks like before passing judgement.

Talking of a world changing at breakneck speed…

Slovakia's Populist Prime Minister Robert Fico Has Been Shot
[ZERO] Slovakia’s populist prime minister Robert Fico has been shot, according to breaking news reports, after which he was rushed to the hospital and appears to be alive according to early reports. But some reports have listed his condition as "very serious" and that he had to be airlifted.

According to emerging details in The Associated Press, Fico "was injured in a shooting and taken to hospital. The incident took place in the town of Handlova, some 150 kilometers northeast of the capital, according to the news television station TA3."

Local authorities say that a suspect is in custody.
Good.
The shooting happened in front of the House of Culture where a government meeting was taking place.

One eyewitness "saw the prime minister being lifted from the ground by security guards and loaded into a car and driven away."

Several people were greeting Fico and the moment the shots rang out, after which the prime minister fell to the ground. The would-be assassin was then taken by police. No details have been released as to the extent of his injuries.

BREAKING: The Biden Campaign Officially Turns Down the Presidential Debates Commission
[PJ] The Biden campaign is officially abandoning the Presidential Debates Commission.

For months, the Biden campaign has been setting the stage for Joe Biden's potential refusal to engage in any presidential debates, while simultaneously laying the groundwork to blame Donald Trump for it — even though Trump has been calling on Biden to debate the entire time. Now, the campaign says it will not participate in the three planned debates for the fall, set up by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD).

Instead, he’s calling for direct negotiations between the campaigns and is proposing two televised presidential debates in June and September.

“Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020,” Biden falsely claimed in a video statement released Wednesday, "and since then he hasn’t shown up for a debate."

Neither has Biden, for that matter; he refused to debate his primary challengers.

"Now he is acting like he wants to debate me again,” Biden continued. "Well, make my day, pal. I’ll even do it twice. So let’s pick the dates, Donald. I hear you’re free on Wednesdays.”

Government Corruption
FBI lost count of how many paid informants were at Capitol on Jan. 6, and later performed audit to figure out exact number: ex-official
[NYP] The FBI had so many paid informants at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, that it lost track of the number and had to perform a later audit to determine exactly how many "Confidential Human Sources" run by different FBI field offices were present that day, a former assistant director of the bureau has told lawmakers.

At least one informant was communicating with his FBI handler as he entered the Capitol, according to Steven D’Antuono, formerly in charge of the bureau’s Washington field office.

D’Antuono has testified behind closed doors to the House Judiciary Committee that his office was aware before the riot that some of their informants would attend a "Stop the Steal" rally thrown by former President Donald Trump, but he only learned after the fact that informants run by other field offices also were present, along with others who had participated of their own accord.

The Washington field office had to ask FBI headquarters "to do a poll or put out something to people saying w[ere] any CHSs involved," he said, so they could get a handle on the scale of the FBI’s spying operations at the Capitol that day.

"We started getting responses back" from FBI headquarters, added D’Antuono, which helped identify which field offices had planted confidential informants in the crowd.

J6 Defendant and Founder of Condemned USA Sues Judge Juan Merchan and DA Alvin Bragg
[Gateway] In the heart of New York City, the legal landscape was about to witness a seismic clash of ideologies. The trial against former President Donald Trump was underway, but amidst the courtroom drama, a new player emerged: Treniss Evans of Condemned USA is once again rising to the occasion to thwart the obviously partisan trial efforts.

With a fervent belief in justice and democracy, Treniss again appears as a citizen challenging the legitimacy of the trial.

Treniss Evans is filing a lawsuit in federal court arguing that the ongoing proceedings are a direct affront to federal election laws and the impartiality of the judiciary, furthermore damaging Evans as a voter and his rights to unfettered elections.

A summons was swiftly issued for District Attorney Alvin Bragg, the prosecutor leading the New York effort, and Judge Juan Merchan, the presiding judge from the Federal Court in the Western District of Texas. Treniss saw them as key figures in what everyone knows to be a partisan crusade against Trump and vowed to hold them accountable.

Yet, for Treniss, this is more than just a legal skirmish—this is a battle for the soul of American democracy. Having already prevailed in the U.S. Supreme Court (see CondemnedUSA Amicus Curiae Brief Colorado Ballot), Evans stands emboldened in his quest to halt what he describes as the insanity of partisan actors manipulating the judicial process for their own ends.

Cuellar Aides Flip
[Battleswarm, HT Insty] Remember the bribery and money-laundering indictment of Texas Democratic Representative Henry Cuellar (TX-28)? Two of his aides just flipped.

Two former consultants to U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar have agreed to plead guilty to assisting the lawmaker in laundering hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Mexican bank.

Colin Strother, the South Texas Democrat’s former campaign manager, and Florencio "Lencho" Rendon struck separate deals with the U.S. Department of Justice in March, where they agreed to cooperate with the investigation.

The first of the two to come clean was Strother, who signed his agreement on March 6. Nine days later, Rendon entered into his deal with federal prosecutors.

In Rendon’s agreement, the operation’s origins are stated to have begun in 2015, when Rendon met with Banco Azteca executives at Cuellar’s behest to discuss supposed regulatory issues facing the bank.

After the meetings, Rendon allegedly signed a contract paying him upwards of $15,000 monthly to provide consulting for an unnamed "U.S.-based media and television company" connected to Banco Azteca.

Strother’s deal details that Cuellar then allegedly commissioned Rendon to meet Strother, where Rendon offered Strother $11,000 a month to participate in a clandestine project that Strother eventually determined to be "a sham."

Rendon’s agreement notes that he kept $4,000 for his consulting firm, while he expected Strother to keep $1,000 for himself and forward the remaining $10,000 to Imelda Cuellar’s company.

Rendon paid Strother $261,000 total from March 2016 to June 2019. Over $236,000 of those funds were allegedly funneled to Cuellar’s wife, Imelda Cuellar.

Prosecutors believe the transactions were part of an effort by Cuellar to hide the money from required U.S. financial disclosures.

Rendon and Strother have agreed to testify before a grand jury or any other judicial proceeding as part of their plea deals. Both still face up to 20 years in prison and onerous fines for conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Having your bagman flip on you is never a good sign for beating a rap, so I’d say it’s already highly likely Cueller will be going from the House to the big house, especially since a third aide has flipped.

A third person with ties to U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar’s bribery case has pleaded guilty, according to a recently unsealed plea agreement, after the South Texas Democrat was accused of accepting nearly $600,000 in bribes from Azerbaijan and a Mexican bank.

Irada Akhoundova pleaded guilty to unlawfully acting as an agent of the Azerbaijani government and a state-run oil company, a violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, on May 1, according to the plea deal first reported by the San Antonio Express-News. Akhoundova admitted to facilitating a $60,000 payment to Imelda Cuellar, the congressman’s wife, who was also indicted last month.

For nearly 20 years, Akhoundova has served as the president of the Houston-Baku Sister City Association, a nonprofit that builds ties between the Texas city and Azerbaijan’s capital, according to her LinkedIn profile. The plea agreement describes Akhoundova as an active member of the Texas Azerbaijani-American community. The court filing states that she served as the director of a U.S. affiliate of a Baku-based company, from approximately 2014 to 2017.

Unlike U.S. Senators, Governors cannot appoint interim U.S. House members. Article I, Section 2, Clause 4 of the Constitution states: "When vacancies happen in the Representation from any State, the Executive Authority thereof shall issue Writs of Election to fill such Vacancies." According to the Texas election code, U.S. House special elections operate under the same rules as Texas legislature special elections, namely "a special election shall be held on the first uniform election date occurring on or after the 36th day after the date the election is ordered. (b) If the election is to be held as an emergency election, it shall be held on a Tuesday or Saturday occurring on or after the 36th day and on or before the 64th day after the date the election is ordered." If Cuellar resigns in May, June, or July, presumably Governor Abbott will call a special election for the seat.

In August, the issue starts running up on general election deadlines. By Texas law, a party official has 74 days before an election to remove a candidate’s name from the ballot, but the Texas Secretary of State says August 19 is the date, which looks like 78 days, which matches this doc on filling vacancies. If Cuellar resigns or pleads guilty before that date, Democrats can presumably pick another candidate to run in the November election. Beyond that date, presumably whichever of Republicans Jay Furman and Lazaro Garza Jr. (who are competing in the runoff to challenge Cuellar) is nominated will win the seat, since Cuellar will be ineligible to serve despite his name being on the ballot.

Final thought: Cuellar is the last even nominally pro-life Democrat in the U.S. House. The conspiracy-minded might think this is the only reason the Biden DOJ was allowed to indict him...

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Whistleblower's chilling claims about East Palestine train derailment
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Whistleblower reveals how government rushed to give all clear after East Palestine train derailment and says he was threatened when he asked why.

An EPA whistleblower has come forward with shocking claims over the government's response to the toxic East Palestine train derailment.

Robert Kroutil, a scientist who spent four decades in government agencies, claimed to NewsNation that the EPA strayed from its normal safety procedures when testing for hazardous contamination around the crash site.

He alleged that leaders delayed in deploying a chemical testing plane for five days, but still decided that evacuated residents were free to return to their homes after only three days.

Residents who returned home quickly reported adverse reactions, including rashes, breathing problems and nausea.

'That deployment was the most unusual deployment I’ve ever seen,' Kroutil said of the testing aircraft. 'You just wouldn’t do it that way.'

Kroutil originally worked for the Department of Defense, where he worked to develop the Airborne Spectralphotometric Environmental Collection Technology (ASPECT) aircraft, a high-tech plane used to detect levels of chemical contamination in the air.

He continued this work when he moved to the EPA to work as a contractor, but said throughout his career he had never seen the aircraft used in the manner that it was in the East Palestine disaster.

At the time that officials told residents it was safe for them to return to their homes, EPA Chief Michael Reagan specifically singled out the use of the ASPECT plane as a reason he made the decision.

'We’ve had boots on the ground, leading robust air quality testing, including the advanced technology ASPECT plane,' he said.

However, procedures normally called for the ASPECT plane to be deployed within hours, and Kroutil said he is still confused why it wasn't deployed in a timely manner, feeling it may have missed key data on the levels of toxicity in the area.

'In East Palestine, we had a big delay,' he told NewsNation. 'There was a big delay in getting the aircraft to Pittsburgh.'

Asked why officials may have postponed the flight, Kroutil said he is 'still asking myself that question.'

Following the derailment on February 3, 20203, he said: 'We should be collecting data on the 4th, the 5th, the 6th (of February), multiple flights on the 7th.

'We should be there at least two weeks to monitor the situation.'

Instead, Kroutil claimed the ASPECT plane wasn't even deployed until the toxic plume of smoke had dissipated - and many residents returned home - and collected only a fraction of the data he would have expected.

'We only were deployed for two missions on Feb. 7. By that time the plumes were out, the fire was out. It was after the event and burn, so that was not the time to actually use this particular aircraft,' he said.

'The aircraft only collected data, eight minutes worth of data with the targets'. Usually, he claimed, it would have collected over 100 minutes of data.

Although EPA heads cited the plane as one of their reasons for telling residents it was safe, Kroutil claimed scientists determined the data was inconclusive - a point that didn't appear on the agency's final report on the incident.

Kroutil (pictured) began his career with the Department of Defense, and spent four decades in government agencies before resigning over his East Palestine allegations
Kroutil (pictured) began his career with the Department of Defense, and spent four decades in government agencies before resigning over his East Palestine allegations

Kroutil also alleged that the plane turned off its chemical sensors over some creeks in East Palestine, which he insisted is against normal protocol and no reason was given for the move.

'I’ve done 180 different responses,' he said. 'I’ve never heard the program manager tell us to turn the sensor off when collecting data.'

He claims that when he complained to higher-ups, he never received a response.

In response, NewsNation said the EPA disagreed with Kroutil's characterization of the response, and said the ASPECT aircraft was unable to fly earlier due to weather conditions.

'Within hours of the derailment on Feb. 3, 2023, EPA responders were on-scene, establishing a robust air monitoring network at the site and within the community,' the agency said.

'EPA’s ASPECT plane was just one component of a comprehensive air monitoring and sampling network that included several instruments to collect air samples and measure contaminants at and around the site.'

Kroutil said the weather data contradicted this, and claimed the plane would have been safe to fly at 2,000 feet instead of its normal altitude of 2,800 feet.

As his fears over the derailment's response grew, the scientist said he was also taken aback by being told not to include the words 'East Palestine' from his communications with his program manager.

This may have been used as a loophole so that those communications wouldn't be included in a Freedom of Information Act response about the derailment, Kroutil said.

Because of this, he decided to file his own FOIA request - which he said was quickly met by a threat.

'I was told that I’d be fired within 24 hours if I didn’t rescind my FOIA request,' he claimed.

Kroutil resigned his post after he rescinded the request, and insisted that he is now whistleblowing for one reason - 'because it's the truth.'

The former agency staffer is being offered legal protections by the Government Accountability Project (GAO) as he steps forward with his claims.

Lesley Pacey, an investigator with the GAP, said of their support: 'The EPA didn’t gather the chemical information that it could have gathered to inform first responders, the community, government officials, to protect the public.'

'They could have done this and they didn’t. The question is why.'

-War on Police-
Outrage as migrants who beat up cops in Times Square are all offered plea deals
[DM] Six of the migrants accused of assaulting two New York City Police Department officers in Times Square have been offered plea deals - including one who was re-arrested while out on $15,000 bail.

Ulises Bohorquez, Yohenry Brito, Edgarlis Vegas, Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, Wilson Juarez, Yorman Reveron and Kelvin Servita Arocha appeared in New York Supreme Criminal Court on Tuesday in front of Judge Laura Wood.

The Venezuelan migrants were charged with second-degree assault and the obstruction of a government admin following the attack on January 27 which was caught on video and all have pleaded not guilty.

The incident erupted when two officers attempted to disperse a group in front of 220 West 42nd Street. Lieutenant Ben Kurian and Officer Zunxu Tian are said to have suffered lacerations, bruising and substantial shoulder pain.

Judge Wood laid into Brito, who was previously described as the 'most culpable' of the defendants, for being rearrested on petty larceny charges while on bail and warned he would 'not see the light of day' if he so much as jaywalks.

Still, judge Wood did not order him arrested and he remains free.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office has offered plea deals to Bohorquez, Brito and Gomez-Izquiel for them to serve a year in prison in return to pleading guilty to second-degree assault.

Arocha and Juarez have been presented a deal where they serve six months in prison for pleading guilty to obstructing a government admin.

Yorman Reveron was also offered a deal of two years in prison in exchange for pleading guilty to second degree assault.

The defense attorneys have not agreed to the offers and Judge Wood ordered them to return to court on June 18 where a trial date will be set if no agreement is reached.

He was initially sent to Rikers Island but he was released after a church in Brooklyn managed to pay his $15,000 bond.

Authorities were called to disperse a 'disorderly group' in front of 220 West 42 Street when suspect Brito, 24, 'got confrontational with the officers' and they attempted to arrest him, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.

'As Kurian is holding Brito against the wall, groups of people are heard shouting in Spanish at the officer,' he added.

'That is when Brito attempted to escape from Kurian and with the assistance of Officer Zunxu Tian, the cops grabbed the migrant's clothing as they tried to restrain him.'

Videos show the two officers and Brito falling to the ground and during the struggle, other suspects interfered by pulling, grabbing and kicking the cops.

As Brito attempts to wriggle away, the officers are holding on to his shirt that he eventually takes off.

'Go arrest those guys,' Kurian said as the crowd fled.

The case quickly drew international attention. It took days for police to indict the suspects in the case. Several were freed shortly after the attack on bail and some fled the area.

Brito, Gomez, Reveron and Arocha are all charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Gomez is also accused of attempting to shoplift at Macy's.

Police say neither Juarez nor Arocha ever hit the officers, but that Arocha kicked a police radio as Juarez watched from a distance before giving his jacket to Brito.

Gomez is accused of grabbing one officer and kicking the other one while Reveron allegedly grabbed, pulled and threw the two cops on the ground.

Juarez, is believed to have watched the brawl from a distance without participating. He has been charged with tampering with physical evidence because he allegedly traded his jacket with a man who fled police following the confrontation, prosecutors said.

Arizona Rep. Biggs says border crossings in the Tucson border have skyrocketed
[JustTheNews] Congressman Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., said Tuesday that border crossings in the Tucson area have drastically increased over the past few years.

"When I met with Chief Maudlin who's the sector chief in Tucson last Wednesday, he said ... they're on pace to have more than 700,000 encounters through the Tucson sector alone in this fiscal year," Biggs said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.

"Just put that in perspective from 2018 to 2021, the average [was] about 60,000 per year," he added.

More than 189,000 migrants arrived at the southern border just in the month of February.

Other GOP elected officials, such as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, have predicted that the border won't be secure unless America elects a new president.

Biggs also said the Biden administration is not making the immigration crisis worse.

"We are being attacked on the border constantly, and this administration is just MIA. In fact, not only are they missing an action, they actually provide the incentives for people that come across illegally."

Call them racist? Teachers union worked with feds to neutralize parents with concerns about CRT
[Just the News] Blacks and Latinos more concerned than Biden voters about politicized classrooms, lack of parental say, according to Democratic report prepared for American Federation of Teachers. Strong resistance to gender ID without parental approval.

Republican nominee Glenn Youngkin's gubernatorial victory in Virginia in November 2021, widely credited to his promise to restore parental rights in public schools in the Democratic-leaning state, set off panic in the national education establishment.

Newly disclosed records reveal the American Federation of Teachers hired a prominent Democratic pollster the following month to survey parents and devise messaging to shore up AFT's weaknesses – particularly by tarring dissenting parents as racists – and shared it with a senior Department of Education official.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Montserrat Garibay, who came to the feds from the Texas chapter of the AFL-CIO, which counts AFT as an affiliate, is all over the first two-thirds of the 416-page Freedom of Information Act production.

It was obtained by the government watchdog Functional Government Initiative through a lawsuit filed against the department nearly two years ago.

"FYI," Garibay wrote in forwarding an email Dec. 13, 2021 from an AFT government affairs staffer, about the group's New Hampshire affiliate's lawsuit against the state for its "divisive concepts" law, to department colleagues including Office for Civil Rights Director Catherine Lhamon.

The AFT email says the "Koch-funded Moms for Liberty 'bounties' on teachers and the right-wing echo chamber of hate are creating a frightening environment for educators," who are "receiving unprecedented amounts of threats and ugly messages."

FGI, which has previously exposed federal-Twitter election collaboration, "dark money" influence at the Department of the Interior and President Biden's former COVID adviser scolding the CDC for overstating mask protection, sought "emails (with attachments), calendar items, text messages, memos and virtual meeting logs" that include "critical race theory" or "CRT."

FGI Communications Director Pete McGinnis told Just the News the group received the batch in December 2023 but took until this week to fully analyze it.

He wrote in a statement "the gulf between the education establishment and parents has never been greater, and it shows in the antagonistic language featured in these records," which illustrate that "the Education Department seems to be in a bunker with like-minded teachers’ unions and academics."

The court docket shows the feds have continued making document dumps, including 165 pages since a Feb. 26 joint status report, according to the latest update from the parties April 26. McGinnis said FGI is currently analyzing that batch.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta, who is overseeing several cases with national implications for free speech, Big Tech and federalism, ordered the parties to turn over the next joint report by June 25.

Lake Research Partners, founded by Democratic pollster Celinda Lake, conducted online focus groups with five demographics Dec. 1–2, 2021, "before the current Omicron surge and its implication of potential school closures," it told AFT in a Jan. 7, 2022, memo.

They were "white non-college suburban mothers, white moderate to conservative Democratic suburban fathers, White college suburban mothers, Latinx parents, and Black parents" – "no more than 2 participants in any group from the same state" – with kids in K-12 public schools.

The firm followed with an online national survey of "1,308 registered voters who are parents of K-12 public school students" Dec. 15-22, 2021.

The purpose of the focus groups included "show[ing] parents that teachers and teachers unions share their same goal" and "respond[ing] to the emerging 'parents' rights' narrative that the right-wing has begun to deploy with an eye toward the 2022 elections," the memo said.

Garibay forwarded the memo and the "poll deck" Jan. 13, 2022, to Donna Harris-Aikens, deputy chief of staff for strategy to Secretary Miguel Cardona, and then-Cardona senior adviser Christian Rhodes.

"Beth [Antunez, AFT deputy director] shared that they can give us a briefing as well," Garibay wrote.

The poll deck emphasized the survey respondents were "very satisfied" with how their schools handled COVID-19 "and rejected the claim that schools waited too long to resume in-person instruction," with a plurality saying schools struck a "good balance."

"Teachers unions are seen as a more positive force in education than before the pandemic," it said. "Parents have a progressive education agenda, focused on inadequate school funding, students falling behind academically and socially, low pay for teachers, and staff shortages."

AFT faces warning signs on fears of teachers politicizing their classrooms, especially "the way issues of race and gender are taught today (as they perceive it)," and parents wanting "a voice in what their children learn," with "many reject[ing] the idea that educators' expertise should always outweigh parents' perspective," the deck says.

"Parents do not think that teachers should bring politics into the classroom, and many think that talking about race, racism, and gender identity is inherently political," which is "the other side's most powerful framing," it says.

About a quarter of parents gave "somewhat" or "not that satisfied" answers on questions of politicized classrooms and parental say in curriculum.

Phrased differently, 72% of Donald Trump voters said they were "very" or "fairly concerned" about teachers injecting their politics, followed by Latino (67%), white (61%) and black (57%), compared to 50% for Joe Biden voters.

The gap between minorities and Biden voters was even more stark on parental say. Latinos matched Trump voters on concern (69%), followed by black (59%) and white (57%), compared to 48% of Biden voters.

The focus groups showed parents differed little in their concerns by race, with many agreeing that "teachers bring their own political viewpoints into the classroom" inappropriately. The deck said the "desire for greater parental involvement … has been exacerbated by the physical restrictions caused by COVID-19," especially in the black group.

Minorities again outpaced Biden voters in their concerns about "White students being shamed over issues of race and racism" – black 50%, Latino 57%, Biden voters 47% – and "Students being taught that America is a racist country" (48%, 57%, 42%). The deck emphasizes white parents felt these concerns most strongly.

The section on "Key Message Recommendations" may raise the most eyebrows. "'Critical race theory' has been successfully defined by our opponents, and many parents are also uncomfortable with the idea of teaching 'systemic racism' or 'white privilege,'" it says.

That's why AFT should go on the attack: "Expose and define your opponents' real agenda," which is about "prevent[ing] students from learning all of American history, both the good and bad," keeping "students of color and their families … invisible in history" and "trying to divide our community to advance their political agenda."

China-linked network funding key anti-Israel protest groups in US - report
[Jpost] The Singham network amplified anti-Israel activism not just through the NGOs' social media accounts, but through pro-CCP media outlets like BreakThrough News.

Key radical left-wing organizations in the post-October 7 anti-Israel protest movement are funded by or connected to a Chinese Communist Party-linked network, according to a Monday Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) report.

Three convenors of the Shut it Down For Palestine coalition, Answer Coalition, The People's Forum, and the International Peoples' Assembly are linked by a complicated web of financial, personal, personnel, and ideological ties to CCP associates Neville Roy Singham and his wife Jodie Evans, according to NCRI.

Singham served as a consultant for Huawei, lives in Shanghai, and shared premises with Chinese propaganda firm Shanghai Maku Cultural Communications, NCRI explained. He has been spotted at CCP workshops and has been investigated by the US, Canada, and India for CCP operations. An August New York Times investigation described Singham as a known "socialist benefactor of far-left causes" and tracked the funneling hundreds of millions of dollars to Singham-linked groups engaging in pro-China progressive advocacy.

Socialist activist Evans is according to NCRI a board member of the People's Forum and is listed as a co-founder of CODEPINK, which is an official endorser of Shut it Down For Palestine and has been prominent in the post-October 7 protests and regularly challenges US congresspeople at the capitol.

Evans has co-written a book called “China is Not Our Enemy," which NCRI said was co-authored with a researcher from foundations tied to the CCP, Dongsheng News and Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research. Signham's son Nate Singham works as a researcher at Tricontinental, and the elder Singham is the chairman of the organization's international advisory board

IDF reveals Hamas terrorists use UN vehicles, UNRWA compound as cover in Rafah - watch
[JPost] Several terrorists and gunfire can be seen near UN vehicles and in the area of UNRWA's logistics warehouse compound in eastern Rafah, which is a central point for the distribution of UNRWA's aid.

The IDF revealed on Tuesday that during operational activity in eastern Rafah on Saturday, terrorists were identified in UNRWA’s central logistics compound alongside UN vehicles.

In the footage, several terrorists and gunfire can be seen near UN vehicles and in the area of UNRWA's logistics warehouse compound in eastern Rafah, which is a central point for the distribution of aid on UNRWA’s behalf in the Gaza Strip.

Following the event, representatives of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) conveyed the findings to senior officials in the international community and called on the UN to conduct an urgent investigation into the matter.

HAMAS PRESENCE THREATENS CIVILIAN SAFETY
In addition, COGAT representatives warned the UN against the presence of terrorists in the area and the seriousness of the danger their presence brings to the logistics center compound concerning the continued protection of the organization's facilities.

The IDF promised at the end of the announcement that it would continue to act in accordance with international law to distribute aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz commented on the footage on X, formerly Twitter, saying, "Hamas terrorists firing at civilians from within a UNRWA facility next to UN vehicles in Rafah. No lie from Antonio Guterres and Philippe Lazzarini will hide the truth: UNRWA is an arm of the terrorist organization Hamas."

Katz also called for the resignation of Lazzarini as the Commissioner-General of UNRWA.

UN sexual violence envoy pulls out of Security Council briefing on Hamas hostages
[ToI] Diplomat tells ToI Pramila Patten’s withdrawal had nothing to do with scheduling, hinting move was politically motivated as she faces pressure not to prioritize Israeli abductees

The UN’s special representative on sexual violence in conflict Pramila Patten pulled out of a Security Council session where she was supposed to brief members about the hostages taken by Hamas on October 7, a UN diplomat told The Times of Israel on Tuesday.

Invitations to the Thursday event organized by the US Mission to the UN were sent to Security Council members last week and obtained by The Times of Israel. The session is titled “Condemning hostage-taking in Israel on October 7 as a psychological tool of terrorism.”

Patten — the UN special representative whose purview most closely overlaps with the topic — was named as the first of three briefers along with a civil society representative and a released Israeli hostage or relative of a hostage.

But in the updated invitations — or “concept notes” — sent out to members on Monday and also obtained by The Times of Israel, Patten was no longer listed among the briefers.

A UN diplomat said on condition of anonymity that Patten’s withdrawal was not due to scheduling issues.

The diplomat hinted that the decision was politically motivated, as her office has faced pressure not to be seen as prioritizing the plight of the Israeli hostages over that of the Palestinians caught in the middle of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.

Jordan thwarts Iran-led plan to carry out acts of sabotage in kingdom ‐ sources
[IsraelTimes] Weapons allegedly sent by Iranian-backed militias in Syria to a Muslim Brotherhood cell in the kingdom that has links to Hamas

Jordan has foiled a suspected Iranian-led plot to smuggle weapons into the kingdom to help opponents of the ruling US-aligned monarchy carry out acts of sabotage, according to two Jordanian sources with knowledge of the matter.

The weapons were sent by Iranian-backed militias in Syria to a cell of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan that has links to the military wing of Palestinian terror group Hamas, the sources told Reuters.

The cache was seized when members of the cell, Jordanians of Palestinian descent, were arrested in late March, they said.

The alleged plot and arrests came at a time of sky-high tensions in the Middle East, with an American-backed Israel at war in Gaza with Hamas, part of Iran’s “Axis of Resistance” network of proxy groups built up over decades to oppose Israel.

The two Jordanian sources, who requested anonymity to discuss security matters, declined to say what acts of sabotage were allegedly planned, citing ongoing investigations and covert operations.

They said the plot’s aim was to destabilize Jordan, a country that could become a regional flashpoint in the Gaza crisis as it hosts a US military base and shares borders with Israel as well as Syria and Iraq, both home to Iranian-backed militias.

The sources did not specify what weapons were seized in the March raid, though they said that in recent months security services have thwarted numerous attempts by Iran and its allied groups to smuggle in arms including Claymore mines, C4 and Semtex explosives, Kalashnikov rifles and 107mm Katyusha rockets.

Most of the clandestine flow of arms into the country has been bound for the neighboring West Bank, according to the Jordanian sources. However, some of the weapons — including those seized in March — were intended for use in Jordan by the Brotherhood cell allied to Hamas terrorists, they said.

Jordanian authorities believe Iran and its allied terror groups like Hamas and Lebanon’s Hezbollah are trying to recruit young, radical members of the kingdom’s Brotherhood to their anti-Israel, anti-US cause in a bid to expand Tehran’s regional network of aligned forces, according to the two sources.

A senior representative of Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood confirmed that some of its members were arrested in March in possession of weapons, but said whatever they did was not approved by the group and that he suspected they were smuggling arms to the West Bank rather than planning acts in Jordan.

“There is dialogue between the Brotherhood and the authorities. They know if there are mistakes it’s not the MB, only individuals and not MB policy,” said the representative, asking not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter.
It’s never the official policy of the Brotherhooders to guide their youngsters toward groups following the strong jihad of the sword, but they are a feeder pipeline nonetheless.
Another senior figure in Brotherhood, who also requested anonymity, told Reuters the arrested cell members had been recruited by Hamas chief Saleh al-Arouri, who masterminded the Palestinian group’s operations in the West Bank from exile in Lebanon. Arouri was killed by a drone strike in Beirut in January in an attack widely attributed to Israel.

Over the past year, Jordan has said it has foiled many attempts by infiltrators linked to pro-Iranian militias in Syria who it says have crossed its borders with rocket launchers and explosives, adding that some of the weapons managed to get through undetected. Iran has denied being behind such attempts.

Top Hezbollah field commander killed in IDF drone strike in south Lebanon
[IsraelTimes] The military says that more than 30 Hezbollah commanders have been killed in its strikes in southern Lebanon amid the war in the past seven months.

On Wednesday morning, in response to the killing of the commander, Hezbollah fired a barrage of some 60 rockets from Lebanon at northern Israel, mostly targeting Mount Meron, located some eight kilometers (5 miles) from the Lebanon border.

The terror group has targeted Mount Meron several times amid the ongoing war, launching large barrages of rockets at the mountain, as well as guided missiles at the sensitive Israeli air traffic control base that sits atop it.

At least one heavy rocket was fired at the Biranit army base on the Lebanon border.

Several of the 60 rockets were intercepted by air defenses, while some caused “minor damage” to the Mount Meron base, the IDF said.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying it targeted the Mount Meron base with dozens of rockets, as well as the Biranit base with additional projectiles.

There were no injuries, according to the IDF.

The terror group said the attacks were “part of a response to the assassination,” referring to Makki.

The strike on the top commander came hours after an Israeli civilian was killed and five soldiers were wounded in a Hezbollah anti-tank guided missile attack against a military position near the northern community of Adamit.

Russia amasses more than half a million troops on the front line in dramatic bid to overpower Ukrainian forces as analyst warns outlook for Western-backed nation 'is bleak'
[MAIL] Russia has amassed more than half a million troops on the front line in a dramatic bid to overpower Ukrainian forces, analysts say.

Vladimir Putin's army significantly outnumbers the Western-backed troops, forcing them to use up ammunition supplies.

Dr Jack Watling, from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), said: 'The Russian forces have now expanded to 510,000 troops.

'The outlook for Ukraine is bleak. Its allies must replenish stockpiles.'

The warning came as Russia continued its advances in northern Ukraine, which threaten the country's second city, Kharkiv.

More than 60 'Kraken' militants were captured in the Khar'kov region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian military captured more than 60 militants from the neo-Nazi formation “Kraken” in the Khar'kov region. The head of the military-civil administration of the region, Vitaly Ganchev, announced this on May 14 on Channel One.

“Now many people are already in captivity. We have information from the military; more than 60 people from the Kraken have already been detained,” he said.

Ganchev noted that they are already giving evidence and no longer look like “brave warriors.”

As IA Regnum previously reported, on May 10, military personnel of the Russian group of troops “North” captured militants from the neo-Nazi formations “Kraken” and “Brotherhood” (extremist organizations whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) during hostilities in the Khar'kov region.

On May 12, a source in the security forces reported that a battalion tactical group assembled from fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as terrorist formations of the Ukrainian RDK (an extremist organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) and “Kraken” to conduct combat operations in the Khar'kov region, were partially destroyed. The group's losses amounted to almost 300 people killed and wounded, and the remnants of the fighters fled.

The official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, reported on May 13 that units of the North group of troops improved the tactical situation in the area of Volchansk, Neskuchny, Liptsov and Vesely in the Khar'kov region within a day.

Previously, he informed that the Russian military had liberated four settlements in the Khar'kov region - Gatishche, Krasnoe, Morokhovets and Oleynikovo. A day earlier, they liberated five settlements in the Khar'kov region - Borisovka, Ogurtsovo, Pletenevka, Pylnaya and Strelechya.

20:20 Military expert Boris Rozhin about the situation in the Ocheretinsky breakthrough zone in the Donetsk section of the Northern Military District.

The Russian Armed Forces continue to expand the zone of control around the settlement. Ocheretino. Fighting continues in the direction of the settlement. Sokol, Novoaleksandrovka and Kalinovo.

South of the village Ocheretino RF Armed Forces continue pressure in the direction of the settlement. Novopokrovskoye, which has now been supplemented by an active offensive to the west of the settlement. Semyonovka, where the enemy lost a number of positions in the landings, which he had held since the beginning of the fighting on the settlement line. Berdychi - Tonenoye.

The enemy continues to draw up reserves to the “Ocheretinsky flower”, trying to reduce the risks of further breakthroughs in the direction of western Donbass, including withdrawing troops from the Zaporozhye and Kherson directions.

A difficult situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of the settlement Chasov Yar also makes it difficult for reserves to maneuver in the Khar'kov direction and prevents the Armed Forces from concentrating in the area of the settlement. Ocheretino forces are necessary to relieve problems. In this regard, the strategy of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces to draw down the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is bearing fruit.

In the area of the village Uman Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to fight in the village, having limited progress in the direction of the western outskirts. Fighting also continues for plantings north of the village. Umanskoe.

In the area of the village Netaylovo, Russian Armed Forces are fighting in the western part of the village and strengthening the control zone in the industrial zone.

There are also attacks on landings to the east and southeast of the village. Yasnobrodovka.

In general, the RF Armed Forces confidently maintain the initiative in this area. By transferring reserves, the enemy was able to partially slow down the development of the offensive of Russian troops, but could not completely stop it, which is the key to future problems for the Ukrainian Armed Forces west of Avdievka.

Slobozhansky direction: Control of the Russian Armed Forces over the northern part of Volchansk, battles near Liptsy and Lukyantsy.

In the Slobozhansky direction, Russian troops are advancing in the direction of Liptsy through the dachas. For now, combat operations are more like reconnaissance in force. The enemy forces gathered in the village are being attacked by artillery and air strikes.

In the Lukyantsy area, Russian attack aircraft reached the outskirts of the village and entered the territory of the settlement. It is still unclear whether the settlement was completely liberated or not. On the eastern flank, the Russian Armed Forces established control over Bugrovatka, while fighting was observed in neighboring Staritsa.

Information is circulating on the Internet about a meeting of attacking groups through Zelenoe, but in reality this is most likely not the case, since the gap between Lukyantsy and Zelenye is an open field, and between Zelenye and Ternova-Izbitsky there are fields and forest.

And in Volchansk, the enemy was driven out of the northern part of the city, and a clean-up operation is underway. According to preliminary data, the territory of Lyceum No. 1 and kindergarten No. 6 was taken. The status of the Volchansky Aggregate Plant, where the presence of Ukrainian forces may remain, remains unclear.

By the middle of the current day, in Volchansk itself one heavily damaged road bridge and another pedestrian bridge remained, so communication with the southern part of the city is still maintained.

On duty air defense systems destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle over the territory of the Belgorod region.

12:22 In the morning continued serious fighting in Volchansk.

The Russian Armed Forces continue to liberate the city with fighting. The enemy is resisting due to the raised reserves, but is gradually losing ground. Volchansk will inevitably come under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.

Africa Horn
US fails to compensate victims of drone strikes in Somalia
[Garowe] The Department of Defence has failed to compensate victims of dronezaps in Somalia since 2022, The Intercept reports, despite evidence of several casualties throughout the said period in a total of 288 attacks within the country.

For 17 years, the US has carried out 288 attacks in the Horn of Africa nation, with the US Africa Command only admitting 5 deaths, including Luul and Mariam, who tragically gave up the ghost following an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in southern regions.

But despite the smaller number quoted by US Africa Command, the Airwars, a UK-based group monitoring airstrikes, at least 3,000 people have been killed in Somalia over the last two decades, with their families failing to get justice even with overwhelming evidence.

Not long ago, the Pentagon started giving quarterly reports on casualties, but in the last two years, the US Africa Command has failed to acknowledge several deaths attributed to defence airstrikes within Somalia. US Africa Command offers aerial surveillance during ground operations.

Pentagon directed the armed forces to address people and communities on the receiving end of military operations, including by "expressing condolences" and providing ex gratia payments to next of kin.

Since 2020, Congress appropriate $15 million meant for compensation of victims of airstrikes. The money is sent to families of the victims of the airstrikes; both those killed or injured. The military rarely makes compensation payments, even in cases as clear-cut as the 2018 strike in Somalia.

Last year, various lobby groups in Somalia and their international partners protested to the Pentagon, asking Defence Defence Lloyd Austin to expedite compensation of Luul and Mariam families. This year, Sen. Elizabeth Being Native American has been part of my story since the day I was born Warren

, D-Minn; Barbara Lee, D-Calif.; and Jim McGovern, D-Mass., joined the effort.

The Defense Department missed the May 1, 2024, deadline for releasing its 2023 civilian casualty report.

"The 2022 report was almost a full year late, and the 2023 report is already overdue," said Shiel. "That means we have no public visibility into whether DoD finally began making payments last year as it worked to implement the action plan, which commits the Department to improve how it responds to civilian harm."

The United States withdrew its forces from Somalia in 2021 following a presidential decree, repositioning them to neighbouring Kenya and Djibouti, but the decision would be reversed later after Somalia complained to the Department of Defence.

Since then, at least 500 soldiers have been redeployed to Somalia where they are assisting the Somali National Army (SNA) and the African Union

The US Africa Command is also responsible for training and equipping the elite Danab forces, who are integral units in the fight against al-Shabaab. The US Africa Command carries out air raids based on the request from the Somalia government particularly in self-defence situations.

Home Front: WoT
Biden Admin Claims Cartel-Utilized Border Island Seized by Texas is Federal Land
[Breitbart] The Biden administration claims that the Texas border island that was utilized by Mexican drug cartels for drug and human smuggling operations is owned by the federal government. The State of Texas recently secured the island from the Mexican drug cartels and cleared it of underbrush.

In a letter from the Biden administration’s International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC), Principal Engineer Ramon Macias wrote, “USIBWC asserts that Fronton Island is federal property and is under the jurisdiction of the IWBC. We respectfully request that the Texas General Land Office remove the obstructions.”

Macias referenced two sediment bridges the Texas National Guard put in place after Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham certified Fronton Island to be state-owned property.

“The Biden Administration has had nearly four years to secure the southern border, but they have chosen to neglect the safety of Texas citizens,” Commissioner Buckingham told Breitbart Texas. “Fronton Island and the cartel operations that persisted there demonstrated a clear and present danger to our communities; bombs, weaponry, and the smuggling of humans and drugs have plagued this area of south Texas for too long.”

Mexican cartels lost a major tactical advantage along the Texas border as state military units completed the clearing of the 215-acre Fronton Island located along the Rio Grande in Starr County, Breitbart Texas reported in November 2023. The cartels have used the formerly brush-covered island for years as a staging area for human and drug smuggling.

“For decades, Fronton Island has been utilized by the Mexican Drug Cartels as a refuge when fleeing from rival cartels and the Mexican Military,” Texas DPS spokesman Lieutenant Chris Olivarez told Breitbart Texas at that time. “Still, it has primarily been used to facilitate transnational criminal activity involving human and drug smuggling.”

“With the authorization through Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, the State of Texas has taken over the island by clearing and fortifying it, allowing DPS and the National Guard to gain operational control in preventing cross-border crime,” Olivarez stated.

The USIBWC disputed Texas’ claim to the land in the letter sent to the Texas General Land Office on April 30. Macias wrote:

Our respective Survey Office discussed ownership of this island between August 2023 and September 2023. In our review of the Texas General Land Office’s submitted documentation, we cannot confirm when or how the State of Texas formally acquired Fronton Island. The USIBWC assets [sic] that Fronton Island became federal property between 1970 and 1978 pursuant to the 1970 Treaty (with Mexico). If you have documentation that demonstrates otherwise, we respectfully request that you submit such documentation to USIBWC within 30 days of the date of this letter.

Macias went on to accuse the State of Texas of trespassing onto federal land when it conducted the clearing operation that successfully ended the cartel’s ability to utilize this strategic drug and human smuggling staging area.

In response, Commissioner Buckingham told Breitbart, “Texas has stepped up, and we have no intention of relinquishing our claim of ownership of Fronton Island. As long as the people in that far away U.S. Capitol continue to ignore the people who sent them there, Texas and the General Land Office, under my direction, will continue to do everything in its power to keep our families and communities safe.”

Economy
Inflation Inferno: Producer Price Index Shows Prices Rising Much More Than Expected
[Breitbart] A key gauge of inflation surged by much more than expected in April, confirming that the pace of inflation has accelerated.

The producer price index for final demand, which measures the prices paid to U.S. businesses for their goods and services, rose by 2.2 percent in April, the Department of Labor said Thursday. Compared with a year ago, the index is up 2.2 percent, the largest increase in a year.

Economists had forecast a 0.3 percent gain in April compared with March and a 2.2 percent gain year-over-year.

The impact of the higher-than-expected figures for April was somewhat softened because the prior month’s estimate was revised down from a 0.2 percent gain to a decrease of 0.1 percent.

The so-called core producer price index—a measure that excludes prices of food and energy—jumped 0.5 percent in April after calling 0.1 percent in March. Economists had forecast a 0.2 percent gain. Over the year, core producer prices are up 2.4 percent.

Another measure that also excludes wholesale and retail merchant margins known as trade services prices, rose 0.4 percent in April. Compared with a year ago, this “core core” measure is up 3.1 percent, the largest year-over-year gain since a year ago.
The producer price part of the measure’s name comes from the fact that the price changes are measured from the point of view of the seller of the goods rather than the buyer. That means they do not include sales or excise taxes or government subsidies that go to consumers. Shipping costs that are paid by consumers are also excluded. The prices of imports are not included because those are not received by U.S. producers but by foreign producers.

The final demand part of the measure’s name comes from the fact what is measured is the prices of sales to what are sometimes called end-users. That is, these are not sales of components or materials that are directly employed to create goods and services sold to consumers. These are products sold to customers who are government buyers, household buyers, businesses buying capital goods, and foreign buyers.

The index for final demand services rose 0.6 percent in April, the largest rise since jumping 0.8 percent in July 2023. Prices for final demand goods rose 0.4 percent in April after falling 0.2 percent in March.

The much hotter-than-expected inflation figure is likely to be seen as delaying any rate cuts from the Federal Reserve. Officials have said that they need to see evidence that inflation will continue to fall before they will begin reducing their federal funds benchmark interest rate.

HEY DC SWAMP!!!!!
How about a REAL VIEW ON US INFLATION, as it affects the Workers & Retirees of America?

Because what the Fed's are trying to push as data, is far from the Real Cost of Living to the Working class and retirees, since Biden's group "took" the White House.

Surely, it all boils down to Congress overspending and its Pork Barrels to the tune of a $34T National Debt.

Thus, making the US Dollar near worthless to foreign vendors and countries. Where too much now of what we import and consume now comes from.

OH, and don't forget the usual election year increase in the Min Wage for votes.

Minister of Economic Defense. Why did Putin change Shoigu to Belousov?
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Petr Akopov

[REGNUM] The appointment of Andrei Belousov as Minister of Defense was one of Vladimir Putin’s most unexpected personnel decisions in a quarter of a century. However, it is not illogical - and it is certainly not atypical for the president. From the very beginning, the army was one of Putin’s main priorities - it is no coincidence that almost immediately, in 2001, Sergei Ivanov, the president’s closest ally and friend, was appointed to the Ministry of Defense. It was under him that the army reform began, which they developed together with Putin and the General Staff. But the qualities of a professional intelligence officer and analyst were not enough to restore order in the extremely neglected military economy - and it was also necessary to rebuild both the Ministry of Defense itself and the army as such.

Russian armed forces adopts sea-based Bulava missiles
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The sea-based Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile has been adopted by the Russian Armed Forces, General Designer of the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering Yuri Solomonov announced on May 14.

“On May 7, a decree was signed on the adoption of the Bulava missile system,” Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported.

The Bulava missile is a Russian three-stage solid propellant missile. Since the mid-1990s, it has been developed by the Moscow Institute of Heat Engineering. The missile is intended to arm nuclear submarines of Project 955 and 955A (Borey), which belong to the fourth generation.

As Regnum reported, in November 2023, the strategic nuclear-powered missile submarine Imperator Alexander III conducted a successful test launch of the Bulava missile. The tests were successful. The firing was carried out as usual while the cruiser was under water, the missile warheads arrived in the specified area at the appointed time.

In February of this year, the Russian Navy received the nuclear-powered submarine missile cruiser “Prince Pozharsky”. This is the fifth Project 955A Borei-A nuclear submarine. The submarines were armed with 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles and six torpedo tubes.

A pod of killer whales rammed and sank a sailing yacht in the Strait of Gibraltar
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A pod of killer whales sank a sailing yacht after ramming it in the Moroccan waters of the Strait of Gibraltar.newspaper reported this on May 13.

It is specified that the sailing yacht Alboran Cognac, 15 meters long, with two people on board, collided with killer whales on the morning of May 12. People said that the animals behaved aggressively, attacking and ramming the ship. As a result of the killer whale attack, the ship's hull was damaged and water leaked inside. After alerting emergency services, a nearby oil tanker took the sailors on board and took the ship to Gibraltar. However, the yacht still sank.

Experts have speculated that the killer whales in question are a subpopulation of about 15 individuals known as "Gladys." They live between the north of the Iberian Peninsula and the Strait of Gibraltar and are not the first to attack and sink ships. The first documented incident of this kind occurred in May 2020, and a total of seven such cases have been recorded, including the one that occurred on May 12.

Killer whales sank five sailing boats and two Moroccan fishing vessels. According to the Atlantic Killer Whale Working Group (GTOA), the Gladys subpopulation has interacted with vessels at least 673 times. Zoologists suggest that this behavior could be either playful curiosity of marine mammals or a deliberate attack on the “competitors” of killer whales’ favorite prey – bluefin tuna.

Earlier, IA Regnum reported that a group of Red List killer whales was trapped in Japanese territorial waters in the north of the country. Marine mammals became trapped in drifting ice off the coast of Hokkaido and were unable to reach open water.

On February 7, Rosrybolovstvo offered the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture assistance in rescuing killer whales trapped in the ice. The service indicated that they have the necessary competencies and experience for this.

Earlier on the same day, the Secretary General of the Japanese government, Yoshimasa Hayashi, announced contacts with Russia on the situation with killer whales stuck in the ice. However, later the Foreign Ministry representative offices in Vladivostok and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk stated that they had not received any requests from Japan for assistance in rescuing marine mammals.

"The Earth’s axis tilts at an angle of about 23.44° relative to its orbital plane around the Sun. This tilt is responsible for the changing seasons on our planet. The Earth's axis is not fixed and undergoes a slow wobble, known as axial precession, which takes about 26,000 years to complete. This wobble causes the position of the North Pole star to shift over time.

The tilt of the Earth's axis also varies over a period of about 41,000 years due to the gravitational pull of other planets, particularly the Moon and the Sun. This variation in tilt is known as the obliquity of the ecliptic. The tilt of the Earth's axis can oscillate between 22.1° and 24.5°, which affects the distribution of sunlight and the resulting climate on our planet.

The Earth's tilted axis is also responsible for the changing lengths of day and night throughout the year. The tilt of the axis causes the Sun to appear higher in the sky during the summer months and lower in the sky during the winter months, resulting in longer days in the summer and shorter days in the winter.

Here are some key points about the Earth's axis tilting:

The Earth's axis tilts at an angle of about 23.44° relative to its orbital plane.
The tilt of the Earth's axis causes the changing seasons on our planet.
The Earth's axis undergoes a slow wobble, known as axial precession, which takes about 26,000 years to complete."

NYC Mayor: Migrants should be lifeguards - ‘they're excellent swimmers'
[NYP] Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday suggested migrants should be hired to fill the city’s lifeguard shortage — because "they’re excellent swimmers."

Hizzoner dropped the comment after being asked during a City Hall briefing about lifeguard staffing at the city’s beaches and pools, which have increasingly had issues in recent years, ahead of Memorial Day.

"How do we have a large body of people that are in our city, our country, that are excellent swimmers and at the same time we need lifeguards — and the only obstacle is that we won’t give them the right to work to become a lifeguard," the mayor said.

"That just doesn’t make sense."

Useful information, and not just for the fighting in Ukraine.

“Tactical medicine instructor with call sign Latvian:

Dear friends, today I’ll tell you about gunshot wounds that military personnel face in the Northern Military District zone and other local conflicts.

The wounds themselves are divided into through, blind and tangential (based on the type of wound channel), penetrating and non-penetrating (in relation to planes).

Well, of course, by localization: head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine and limbs.

Most gunshot wounds have an entrance hole, a wound channel and an exit hole (in the case of a through wound) or several exit holes (in the case of the destruction of the bullet or the release of bone fragments from the body).

More recently, on his channel, we talked about how the wound channel has a rather complex and irregular shape, which is a factor in changing the trajectory of the projectile in human tissue when it comes into contact with internal tissues and their contractility.

The most dangerous thing in a gunshot wound is not the primary type of injury - the penetrating cavity, wound channel or exit cavity, but the shock wave that spreads inside the body when injured.

I think many people have noticed that with a gunshot wound, a huge “bruise” forms around the wound site, that is, a bruise zone caused by this shock wave appears.

This is the most dangerous factor that can subsequently cause death.

This zone is a zone of secondary necrosis or “molecular concussion”.

In order to avoid the development of secondary necrosis, at the stage of providing assistance to a fighter, it is necessary to administer antibiotics (any wound by default means infection) and, if possible, carry out primary treatment of the wound and the wound channel itself before transferring the victim to the hospital stage.”

Somalia: Grenade Attacks Target Southwest State Officials in Baidoa
[ShabelleMedia] In a shocking turn of events on Sunday night, two residential homes in Baidoa, the interim administrative capital of the Southwest state, were attacked by unknown assailants.

The attacks involved the hurling of hand grenades at the residences of prominent Southwest state officials, causing a stir among residents and security agencies.

The first attack targeted the home of Kurow Amhar, a member of the Darwish army within the regional administration. Shortly after, a second grenade was thrown at the residence of Ilyas Ali Noor, the former Minister of Information of the Southwest administration, who currently serves as the director of the Tubsan Agency.

As of the latest reports, no group has stepped forward to claim responsibility for these attacks, leaving the motives behind the actions unclear.

The security agencies have not provided any information regarding the incidents, and no casualties have been reported in connection to the earth-shattering kabooms.

These attacks have raised concerns about the safety and security of officials within the Southwest state, prompting a call for increased vigilance and investigation into the matter.

Baidoa residents and officials alike are awaiting further details from the security agencies regarding the perpetrators and the reasons behind the attacks.

As the situation develops, it is crucial for the Southwest state’s security apparatus to take swift and decisive action to ensure the safety of its officials and citizens.

The lack of information and the absence of a claim of responsibility have only added to the uncertainty surrounding the events.

British Navy to receive six new ships with laser weapons
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The British Marines will receive up to six new ships that will be able to launch drones and fire laser weapons, The Telegraph newspaper reported.

British Defense Minister Shapps promised six new ships with laser weapons
“We are making this important investment in shipbuilding to build the future Royal Navy we need to deter our adversaries,” UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps told the newspaper.

According to him, the UK is investing in equipping ships because of a possible confrontation with China at sea. The new ships will be equipped with laser weapons and systems for launching unmanned aerial vehicles. The new vessels will be used to ferry Marine Special Forces from sea to shore around the world.

Shapps also added that China and Russia are investing heavily in their militaries and the West should not be left behind.

As Regnum reported, in March Shapps published footage of tests of the DragonFire classified long-range laser weapon on the social network X. According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, the laser is capable of hitting targets at the speed of light. The video simulated how a laser installed on a warship disabled a boat, blinded one UAV and shot down another.

In January, the UK Ministry of Defense announced the successful testing of the DragonFire long-range laser directed energy weapon. The complex successfully hit several air targets.

In Russia, not only the Peresvet laser weapon is used in combat, but the Zadira laser complex is also used. The complex is capable of hitting a target at a distance of up to five kilometers.

Ali Hasam Yusuf, Amazon Worker, Ohio to the 72..tried to kill supervisor.
[YouTube] Columbus, Ohio — On May 12, 2024, at 4:43 pm, West Jefferson Police officers were dispatched to Amazon CMH5 building, located at 6400 State Route 29, for reports of an Active Shooter. According to Police, the 22-year-old Ali Hamsa Yusuf came up behind the supervisor and pointed a gun at the supervisor’s head, but the gun apparently jammed and the bullet barely missed the supervisor, who was not injured. There were more than 100 workers inside the building when the shooting occurred, officials said. When officers arrived on the scene, Yusuf had left.

About 90 minutes later, officers found Yusuf in the area of Georgesville and Clime roads, where a shootout occurred between Madison County Sheriff's Office, CPD, West Jefferson Police Department and Yusuf. The dashcam showed Yusuf running up a small hill to a HomeBuys parking lot, and still firing at the officers behind him. Officers returned fire and Yusuf eventually collapsed on the hill. Starting from Yusuf’s first shot, the continuous exchange of gunfire lasted eight seconds. After the shooting, the officer who groaned realized he had been shot. The bullet from Yusuf's gun that hit the unidentified Columbus police officer, struck him in his bulletproof vest and he was not seriously injured. Yusuf was transported to Doctors West Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:57 p.m.. No injuries were reported inside the Amazon facility.

Begretova files a lawsuit against the FSB department for Kabardino-Balkaria
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Activist from Kabardino-Balkaria Olga Begretova, who was subjected to forced fingerprinting by border guards, demanded that the refusal of the republican FSB Directorate of Russia to provide the information collected about her be declared illegal and that the department be obliged to eliminate the violations.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, on July 13, 2023, activist from Nalchik Olga Begretova complained about forced fingerprinting at the airport. According to her, border guards at the Minvod airport forced her to submit fingerprints and biological material, although these procedures are not provided for by law. The investigation did not find any violations in the actions of the border guards. Begretova sent a complaint to the military court in Pyatigorsk, in which she asked the court to oblige the investigation to open a case against the border guards at the Minvod airport, but the court recognized the actions of the border guards at the Minvod airport as legal, as well as the refusal to investigate this incident.

In her complaint, Begretova noted that according to the law, fingerprints must be taken by people who are unable for health reasons to provide information about their identity, those suspected or accused of committing a crime, those arrested and those who have committed an offense, whose identity cannot be determined. Begretova noted that she did not consent to fingerprinting, and therefore it was carried out illegally.

Begretova sent a statement to the FSB department for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic to find out why the border guards collected her data, but was refused to provide information. In this regard, on May 3, Begretova filed a lawsuit against the FSB in the Nalchik City Court. She asks that the refusal of the FSB department for Kabardino-Balkaria to provide her with information about the information received regarding her during operational search activities be declared illegal and that the violations be eliminated, the Memorial Human Rights Protection Center reported today*.

In her lawsuit, Begretova points out that the refusal of the FSB Directorate for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic does not comply with the requirements of Article 24 of the Constitution and Article 5 of the Law “On Operational-Investigative Activities.” Thus, fingerprinting at the airport was carried out on November 18, 2022, and since the maximum period for procedural verification according to the law is 30 days and there is no information about the initiation of a criminal case, a decision should have been made to refuse to initiate a criminal case. She indicated that since no criminal case had been opened against her, she “has the right to receive information about herself within the limits permitted by the requirements of secrecy and excluding the possibility of disclosing state secrets,” and emphasized that she only asked to provide information about the information received about her, and non-operative materials.

The consideration of Begretova’s claim against the Russian FSB department for Kabardino-Balkaria is scheduled for May 31, as follows from the information on the website of the Nalchik City Court.

RSF intensify shelling in El Fasher, civilians bear brunt of renewed clashes
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have ramped up their attacks on El Fasher, unleashing a relentless barrage of artillery and rockets on densely populated western and southern districts. This escalation has resulted in a mounting civilian corpse count.

Despite international and regional warnings urging the RSF to halt their assault on El Fasher, a city already reeling from war casualties, the paramilitary group persists in its offensive. This aggression appears to be part of a broader campaign to seize control of the entire Darfur region following their capture of the southern, central, eastern, and western Darfur states.

Hospitals overwhelmed, residents flee

"The RSF has intensified its attacks on civilians in western and southern El Fasher," reported Abdeljabbar Mohammed Adam of the El Fasher emergency room to Sudan Tribune. "They’re bombarding homes and government buildings with heavy weaponry, causing a significant number of casualties."

He identified al-Inqaz, al-Salam, al-Wahda, al-Hijra, Oulad al-Reef, and Makraka as some of the most heavily impacted neighbourhoods. These densely populated districts, both in the south and north of the city, have borne the brunt of the artillery bombardment. A single shell landing in Oulad al-Reef reportedly caused extensive damage to a house and injured at least six civilians.

residents from the eastern and northern neighbourhoods, particularly those in Abu Shouk camp, are fleeing in droves towards the city centre as fighting intensifies in those areas. The RSF appears to be attempting to push into the city centre, but the joint force comprised of armed movements and mobilized citizens continues to resist their advances.

Top Iraqi commander killed in ‘terrorist’ attack: Defense ministry
[Rudaw] A top Iraqi army commander and several soldiers were killed in a "terrorist" attack in the Salahaddin province, the Iraqi defense ministry announced on Monday.

The Iraqi defense ministry announced in a statement colonel Khalid Naji Wassak and several other soldiers were killed "as a result of their repelling of a terrorist attack within their operational area."

Wassak was the commander of the second battalion of the 93rd Infantry Brigade of the Iraqi army that operated in the Salahaddin province, where Islamic State

(ISIS) sleeper cells conduct hit-and-run attacks against the Iraqi armed forces.

ISIS has yet to claim responsibility for the attack.

ISIS seized control of swathes of Iraqi territory during a brazen offensive in 2014 but it was declared territorially defeated in 2017 when its so-called caliphate in the country fell as Iraqi and Kurdish fighters, supported by a US-led international coalition, claimed back lands lost to the jihadists.

Despite its territorial defeat, the group has continued to pose a serious security threat to the country through hit-and-run attacks, bombings, and abductions in several provinces, particularly in areas disputed between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), which stretch across several provinces including Diyala, Salahaddin, and Kirkuk.

The Iraqi government has said that ISIS is no longer a public security threat as the group has been confined. Baghdad is now in talks with the United States to wind down the global mission against the terror group in Iraq.

In its latest report on the anti-ISIS mission released in February, the Pentagon said the terror group has been contained but not eliminated in Iraq: "In Iraq, due to counterterrorism pressure, the ISIS threat was largely contained, though ISIS continued to exploit security gaps between federal Iraq and the Iraqi Kurdistan Region (IKR), and conducted sporadic attacks, mostly in Shia communities."

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: May 14, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:46 For the first time, a high-ranking American official came to Ukraine since Congress adopted a package of military assistance to the country in the amount of $61 billion. Secretary of State Antony Blinken planned to "send a strong signal of reassurance to the Ukrainians." About what came out of this, see the material Blinken’s visit to Kiev .

21:50 Ukrenergo stated that today from 21:00 to 24:00 controlled emergency shutdowns will be introduced in all regions of Ukraine. The reason is a significant shortage of electricity in the system due to Russian shelling and increased consumption due to cold weather. The Secretary of State added that the bilateral agreement will also be aimed at strengthening the Ukrainian military-industrial complex so that Ukraine can produce artillery shells, air defense systems and other critical weapons.

At the same time, Blinken called the current stage of the war “critical” for Ukraine. According to him, the coming months “will require a lot from Ukraine.” In particular, Blinken spoke about the need for mobilization: "The defenders who have been holding this front for more than two years need help and they need a rest. Mobilization is what helps you strengthen the defense."

In addition, the US Secretary of State noted that it is important for Ukraine not only to repel Russia’s full-scale aggression, but also to fight corruption, which is no less a threat to its democracy. In his opinion, Beijing thereby emphasizes its understanding of “the counterproductiveness and meaninglessness of discussing the Ukrainian issue without the participation of Russia.”

14:12 The head of the Estonian Ministry of Defense Hanno Pevkur denied information that the country’s authorities are considering the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine. According to him, such ideas are not considered either at the national or EU level. Earlier, National Security Adviser to the President of Estonia, Madis Roll, said that the country was allegedly discussing the possibility of sending troops to western Ukraine, which would take over the indirect combat and logistical functions of the Ukrainian military in order to free them up to fight at the front.

But this is not the case,” added the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate .

11:53 The Wall Street Journal writes that Russia was able to hit a secret ammunition depot in Ukraine following a tip from a Ukrainian refugee in Poland. Having no means of subsistence, the 22-year-old Ukrainian began to carry out Russian assignments in Poland. He first painted graffiti on remote fences and underpasses, then installed cameras along the train tracks carrying Western military aid to Ukraine.

Russia combined footage from these cameras with satellite surveillance and was able to track the shipment of ammunition from Poland to secret warehouses in Ukraine, which were eventually hit by drones and missiles. A senior Western military intelligence official told the publication that in this way the Russian Federation was able to destroy key equipment with minimal investment.

11:48 Budanov clarified his words about the Russian offensive in the Sumy region: “The Russians initially planned an operation in the Sumy region. Budanov also stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had no reserves left: “All our troops are now either here or in Chasovoy Yar. I used everything we have. Unfortunately, we have no one left in reserve.” In his opinion, one of the Russians’ goals now is “to sow panic and confusion in the region.”

Son Of ISWAP Founder, Mamman Albarnawy Surrenders To Nigerian Security Operatives In Borno State
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

The eldest son of Mamman Nur, founder of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of the West African Province (ISWAP), Mahmud Mamman Nur Albarnawy, on Sunday surrendered to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Maiduguri, Borno State.

It was learnt that Mahmud Mamman Nur Albarnawy was confirmed to be the senior son of the late ISWAP founder after undergoing profiling at the Command Headquarters of NSCDC in Maiduguri.

Military sources said that men of the command had facilitated his surrender through his uncle in Gamboru Ngala after receiving the information that he was willing to formally surrender to the Nigerian government.

A reliable agent was sent to convey him to Maiduguri. They arrived in Maiduguri on May 11, at about 1pm.

Mahmud was later debriefed and profiled by a command intelligence officer, who revealed that he sneaked out of the Ali Ngulde camp in Mandara Mountain, Gwoza LGA, into Maiduguri and stayed for about a month in Gwange before relocating to Gamboru Ngala with no alarms or distress signals from communities.

Many of his late father's supporters tried to persuade him to return to the Lake Chad area and pledge loyalty to ISWAP, but he refused because of the execution of his father.

He also admitted to taking part in attacks in Bama, Banki, Gwoza, and other locations as a middle-ranking Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
warrior.

Mahmud was handed over to Bulunkutu rehabilitation facility for further documentation and custody.

Group of displaced Palestinians move into heavily damaged school in Gaza
[AFRICANEWS] A group of displaced Paleostinians have moved into a school run by a U.N. agency that was heavily damaged during the ongoing Israel-Hamas
..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
war and fixed some of the classrooms where they now live.

The school in the southern city of Khan Younis used to be run by the U.N. agency for Paleostinian refugees known as UNRWA was damaged by Israel's bombardment of the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip.

The families, who were displaced from the southern city of Rafah along the border with Egypt cleaned some of the class rooms, removed debris and fixed some of the damage then settled in.

UNRWA said 360,000 Paleostinians have fled the city of Rafah over the past week, out of 1.3 million who were sheltering there before the operation began.

Most had already fled fighting elsewhere during the seven-month war between Israel and Hamas.

Israel has portrayed Rafah as the last stronghold of the Death Eater group, brushing off warnings from the United States and other allies that any major operation there would be catastrophic for civilians.

Hamas has meanwhile regrouped and is battling Israeli forces in parts of Gaza that Israel bombarded and invaded earlier in the war.

Since Israeli troops captured a border crossing with Egypt in Rafah, the flow of aid form there has stopped.

Fighting in Rafah city has made it impossible for aid groups to access the nearby Kerem Shalom crossing with Israel, though Israel says it is allowing supply trucks to enter from its side.

For the past week, the Israeli military has intensified bombardment and other operations in Rafah while ordering the population to evacuate from parts of the city.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Three Resignations and a High Profile Arrest Show the Purge of Russia's Defense Ministry Is Gaining Speed
[RedState] Russia's FSB raided the home of a senior Defense Ministry official in the pre-dawn hours of Monday as part of a rapidly expanding probe of corruption within that ministry. The FSB kicked in the doors and windows of Lieutenant General Yury Kuznetsov's suburban Moscow villa at around 5 a.m., dragged him from bed, and bundled him away to prison. According to Russian media, the search not only netted documents but over $1 million in cash, "gold coins, collectible watches and luxury items." Kuznetsov stands accused of "taking a bribe on a particularly large scale." Given the industrial scale of Russian corruption, taking a bribe large enough to draw the attention of the FSB is something of an accomplishment.

The 55-year-old Kuznetsov heads the Defense Ministry's Main Personnel Directorate. Less than a year ago, he was in charge of the GRU's 8th Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Russia's special operations command.

A thorough purge seems to be underway in the Defense Ministry. About three weeks ago, the FSB arrested one of the senior henchmen of then-Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on charges of corruption.

That arrest was followed two weeks later by a reshuffling of Putin's government (lolol) that moved longtime crony Shoigu from the Defense portfolio to Secretary of the Security Council of Russia.

WHAT WE KNOW
The day after Shoigu was kicked upstairs, two of his top aides resigned. Those were First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Ruslan Tsalikov, who is the civilian counterpart of the Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, and Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Aleksei Krivoruchko who is responsible for R&D and procurement. Russian human rights activist Vladimir Ovechkin says their resignations were predated May 9 to separate them from Shoigu's transfer. There is an additional report that the First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Tatiana Shevtsova, who is responsible for the finances of the Russian military, has also resigned.

Three of the twelve deputy defense ministers have resigned, and one is in prison.

Most observers expect Krivoruchko's arrest in connection with a body armor procurement scandal that led to Russian troops headed to combat being equipped with fake ballistic armor, including the widespread use of AirSoft body armor.

To make room for Shoigu on the Security Council, Putin removed another longtime ally, Nikolai Patrushev. He has now resurfaced as a "presidential aide" without specific responsibilities. To make the landing even sweeter, his son was made deputy prime minister for agriculture. This would seem to indicate that not only is Patrushev not out of favor but that his influence inside Putin's inner circle is increasing. As I noted, Patrushev was one of the geniuses behind the 2014 Crimea land grab and invasion of Donbas and the current war.

Israel's war on Gaza in numbers; IDF says they killed 300+ Hamas gunnies in Rafah and Gaza City
[Al Jazeera]
  • Israeli fighter jets have bombed central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp, killing dozens of Palestinians, with children among the fatalities. Heavy combat results in casualties on both sides as Palestinian fighters battle invading Israeli forces in northern and southern Gaza.

  • The UN says it informed Israeli authorities of the movements of a UN-marked vehicle carrying staff that was hit in southern Gaza, killing an Indian army colonel working with the UN.

  • Women and children make up at least 56 percent of the 35,173 people killed in the Gaza war, the UN says,
and another branch of the UN says Hamas has overstated deaths of women and children by about 10,000, reducing that percentage by about half. Other sources point out that Hamas has many hardboys in the 16-20 year range, whose deaths they group among the children…
in a new breakdown that’s the “most comprehensive” to date.

  • The US-constructed Gaza humanitarian aid pier will be operational “in the coming days”, Pentagon spokesman Major-General Pat Ryder has told reporters.

Strip on Tuesday, Israeli authorities said, as the military expanded a renewed offensive in the north of the Strip centered around the Gaza City suburb of Jabaliya.

Three soldiers from the Paratroopers Brigade suffered serious injuries during a gunbattle in northern Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces said, while a fourth troop from the Givati Brigade was seriously hurt as a result of an bomb that detonated in Rafah in the far south of Gaza City.

Five other troops were moderately injured in the same battle in northern Gaza, while the Rafah blast left another five soldiers moderately and lightly maimed.

Israeli forces have recently returned to Jabaliya after the IDF identified terror operatives regrouping there. The city, just north of Gaza City, was one of the first targets of an Israeli ground offensive into Gaza which launched in late October as Jerusalem seeks to uproot the Hamas

terror group and return hostages held in the Strip.

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said Tuesday that troops are now operating in areas of Jabaliya that the IDF previously did not reach in the initial ground offensive in northern Gaza. More than 80 button men have been killed in the operation that started on Sunday.

Also Tuesday, Israel expanded an evacuation order for Paleostinian civilians in the city. IDF’s Arabic-language front man Lt. Col. Avichay Adraee instructed civilians in the al-Atatra and Salatin areas to move to shelters west of Gaza City.

More than 150 button men have been killed in the nearby Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City since Israeli troops relaunched an offensive there, Hagari said.

Some 80 sites used by terror groups were destroyed as well, he said.

The IDF has had to return to previously conquered places such as Jabaliya and Zeitoun due to indications that the Hamas terror group has reemerged since the main thrust of Israel’s offensive shifted to the south of the Strip.

Some critics of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s war strategy have blamed his administration’s inability to determine what will replace Hamas as the civilian authority in Gaza for the army having to double back into northern Gaza.

"There is no doubt that a governmental alternative to Hamas will create pressure on Hamas, but that is a question for the political echelon," Hagari said Tuesday in response to a question.

Most attention in Gaza in recent weeks has been focused on the south, where Israel recently launched what it has described as a "precise" operation to uproot Hamas from what is considered its last remaining major stronghold.

Hagari said more than 100 button men had been killed there and 10 tunnel systems located since Israel pushed into Rafah last week, Hagari said.

Israel invaded Gaza following the October 7 massacre, during which thousands of Hamas-led holy warriors stormed into southern Israel communities, killing some 1,200 people and taking another 252 hostage in Gaza. Israel has vowed to eliminate Hamas to ensure it no longer poses a threat, but is also involved in indirect talks with the group aimed at an extended truce and exchange of hostages for Paleostinian prisoners.

Visiting troops in eastern Rafah on Tuesday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi was told by commanders there that "there are also hostages in the Rafah area. We are determined to do whatever it takes to create the conditions for them to return to us soon," Hagari said.

Fighting has also persisted in central Gaza, where the IDF said that it struck a Hamas command room based out of a UNRWA school in Nuseirat, resulting in the deaths of more than 15 terror operatives, including 10 Hamas members. Among those killed were holy warriors of Hamas’s elite Nukhba force who participated in the October 7 onslaught, Israel said.

The army says 272 soldiers have been killed during the ground offensive against Hamas and amid operations along the Gaza border.

The IDF said the strike on the school was carried out following "accurate intelligence" provided by the Shin Bet security agency and Military Intelligence Directorate.

"The strike was carefully planned and carried out using precise munitions while avoiding harming civilians as much as possible," the military said in a statement.

According to the IDF and Shin Bet, the command room was used by Hamas to plan attacks against troops operating in central Gaza in recent weeks.

In drone footage captured over the weekend and released by the IDF on Tuesday, Paleostinian button men were also seen at a UNRWA logistics center in Rafah, and near United Nations

vehicles.

According to the IDF, the button men were spotted by troops of the Givati Brigade on Saturday at the UNRWA logistics center in eastern Rafah.

The video showed the button men next to UN vehicles and in the logistics compound itself, which the IDF said is used by the UN body to deliver humanitarian aid. One clip was also said by the military to show a gunman opening fire inside the complex.

Following the "unusual event," the military said representatives of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) "conveyed the findings to bigwigs in the international community and called on the UN to investigate the matter urgently."

COGAT officials also "warned the UN against the presence of holy warriors in the area, and the seriousness of the danger that exists in the presence of the holy warriors in the logistics center compound with regard to the continued protection of the organization’s facilities."

Israel has previously accused UNRWA of enabling Hamas to use its facilities in Gaza for terror. It has also provided evidence that several agency employees are members of terror groups and were involved in the October 7 attack.

Following the release of the drone footage, Katz wrote on X that UNRWA "is an arm of the terrorist organization Hamas," and called on the organization’s chief, Philippe Lazzarini, to resign.

The footage was sent out a day after a member of the UN’s security staff was killed and another was maimed in a strike on a UN vehicle en route to the European hospital in Gaza’s southern city of Rafah. On Tuesday, the world body blamed Israel for the death, saying the car had been clearly marked before it was struck by shots fired from a tank. The IDF previously said the incident would be probed, but claimed that the car had been in an active combat zone and had not updated an Israeli deconfliction line about its route.

50 TRUCKS ’NOT NEARLY ENOUGH’
Nearly 450,000 of the roughly one million Paleostinians who had been sheltering in Rafah have evacuated in recent days as the IDF has escalated its operations in Gaza’s southernmost city.

The IDF says four of Hamas’s remaining six battalions are located in Rafah, along with the terror group’s leadership and many of the hostages. But it has faced pressure from the US and much of the rest of the international community to not carry out a full-scale offensive in the city.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is scheduled to visit Israel later this week and will discuss the situation in Rafah with Netanyahu. Despite concerns that the IDF will escalate its offensive in the Hamas stronghold, a US official confirmed on Tuesday evening that Jerusalem has given assurances that it will not do so before Sullivan arrives.

The US has ramped up its criticism of Israel’s handling of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza in the days since the IDF seized the Rafah Crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip on May 7. On Tuesday, US State Department front man Vedant Patel said that just 50 aid trucks had entered Gaza on Sunday, describing the convoy as "not nearly enough."

Patel reiterated that while Washington backed military pressure on Hamas, it was not the only way to "fully defeat" the terror organization. Without a political plan for Gaza’s future, the terror group will "keep coming back, and Israel will continue to remain under threat," Patel said, leading to "this continued cycle of violence."

Rejecting the notion that Israel is solely responsible for managing the humanitarian crisis unleashed in Gaza by its war with Hamas, Foreign Minister Israel Katz called for Egypt to resume sending humanitarian aid through the Rafah crossing, which Cairo refuses to do in protest of the IDF takeover.

"The world is placing the responsibility of Israel for the humanitarian issue, but the key to preventing a humanitarian crisis is now in the hands of our Egyptian friends," he said.

His comments prompted an angry response from Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry who said in a statement that Israel’s seizure of the Rafah crossing and its military operations in the area were the main obstacles to aid entering Gaza.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, another bullet hole appeared in Butch's hat......
the US military is expected to connect one end of a hulking metal dock — the length of five US football fields — to a beach in northern Gaza to allow for more aid to be brought into the enclave.

Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon press secretary, said that humanitarian groups are ready for the first shipments through the US maritime route. "In the coming days, you can expect to see this effort underway. And we are confident that that we will be able to, working with our NGO partners, ensure that aid can be delivered," he said.

16 Republican senators demand IRS investigate fiscal sponsor of Students for Justice in Palestine
[Jpost] Republican senators urge IRS to investigate nonprofits backing pro-Palestinian groups like National Students for Justice in Palestine, alleging support for terrorism.
The "investigation" has likely been conducted. The results of the "investigation" is what is needed.
A group of 16 Republican senators is asking the Internal Revenue Service to investigate nonprofits that support National Students for Justice in Palestine - including the group’s fiscal sponsor, the suburban New York nonprofit Wespac.

The senators’ letter to IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel, dated May 9, says the agency should investigate whether, by directing funds to NSJP, the nonprofits are supporting terrorism - which would violate their tax-exempt status.

“We should not need to remind you of the heinous support NSJP chapters across the country have voiced for Hamas, a US-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization,” the letter says. “That support has exploded at NSJP chapter-led demonstrations in recent weeks.”

The recent wave of pro-Palestinian campus demonstrations - many of them organized by SJP chapters - has made the investigation especially urgent, Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, the letter’s lead signatory, told the New York Jewish Week. A range of Jewish groups have condemned the protests for targeting Jews with antisemitic rhetoric and creating a hostile atmosphere at schools across the country.

“The antisemitism that has popped up on college campuses coast to coast is fundamentally un-American,” Ernst said in a statement, adding, “it is clear these organizations should not receive any favors from our government to do Iran-backed Hamas’s bidding on our own shores.”

The IRS is notoriously underfunded when it comes to enforcement, making it unlikely that the call will swiftly lead to an investigation. Still, the senators’ call highlights just how closely they are scrutinizing the organizations that are known to be tied to the protest movement, which many of them have decried as antisemitic.

Other signatories included Marco Rubio of Florida, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Ted Cruz of Texas and Mitt Romney, from Utah.

The letter cites a recent lawsuit filed by survivors of Hamas’ October 7 attack, which claims that NSJP collaborated with Hamas and has promoted its messaging in the months since the attack. It also refers to an existing investigation into one of the groups by Virginia’s attorney general.

The letter comes seven months after dozens of Jewish groups signed a letter in mid-October asking schools to withdraw funding for SJP due to its support for Hamas’ attack. On October 12, NSJP released a “toolkit” lauding the October 7 invasion as a “historic win,” and the senators’ letter argues that in the months since, the pro-Palestinian student group has continued to promote Hamas, including at the campus protests.

Wespac and the IRS did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The other nonprofits named by the senators are the California-based Tides Foundation and Virginia’s AJP Educational Foundation. The Tides Foundation donated $35,000 to Wespac in 2022.

Wespac’s tax-exempt status allows it to support a number of pro-Palestinian groups. The organization, a small nonprofit with the stated mission of “current affairs education,” quietly facilitates funding for NSJP along with Within Our Lifetime, which has organized frequent pro-Palestinian street protests and also endorsed Hamas’ attack.

Wespac - which is chaired by an anti-Zionist Jew named Howard Horowitz - facilitates funding for the groups by acting as a fiscal sponsor, which allows it to receive tax-exempt donations and grants for organizations that do not have nonprofit status, including NSJP. The arrangement allows NSJP to keep its finances out of public view and doesn’t require the fiscal sponsor to detail the funding it channels to other groups.

In its most recent tax filings, covering September 2022 through August 2023, Wespac reported $2.3 million in revenue, mostly from donations and grants. It does not make its fiscal sponsorships public. The Anti-Defamation League said in a 2022 report that Wespac sponsored a total of 15 groups related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, far more than for any other cause. It is unclear how many groups it sponsors in total.

Among the other groups it sponsors are the US Palestinian Community Network, the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, the Palestinian Feminist Collective, the Palestine Freedom Project, and Adalah-NY, which all collect donations through Wespac online. Wespac has sponsored NSJP since at least 2019 and Within Our Lifetime since 2020, according to archived web pages.

Olde Tyme Religion
Meet Iman Fadi Kablawi DDS call for mass murder of Jews in Miami
[MEMRI] Florida Imam Dr. Fadi Kablawi In North Miami Friday Sermon Accuses Israel Of Organ Theft, Trafficking, Prays: Oh Allah, Annihilate The Tyrannical Jews, The Brothers Of Apes And Pigs
Some will defend Dr. Kablawi by saying he is calling for Allah to mass murder Jews, not fellow muslims. However, chapter 9 v 14-15 of the Quran indicates that Muslims will carry out Allah's wishes against unbelievers
Others will not, thank goodness. PJ Media’s Robert Spencer adds:
So if Allah will punish the infidels by the hands of the believers, and Kablawi is praying that Allah would “annihilate” the Jews, it is not unreasonable to see that as a call for Muslims to get busy annihilating Jews, so that Allah can punish them by the Muslims’ hands.

That’s how many people have understood Kablawi’s prayer. Newsweek reported Monday that “Florida state Representative Randy Fine, chairman of the Florida House Health and Human Services Committee, submitted a letter to Dr. Jose R. Mellado, chairman of the Florida Board of Dentistry, requesting the suspension of Kablawi's dental license and an investigation into his practice.

Fine said that he had submitted this letter after some of Kablawi’s Jewish patients had contacted him, and his letter was right on point: "North Miami, where dentist Kablawi practices, contains many Jewish residents, none of whom could be considered safe in Imam Kablawi's dental chair, where he could personally implement what he is asking Allah to do.” Indeed he could.

Fine’s letter continued: “Practicing medicine in Florida is a privilege—not a right—and as the Chairman of the Florida House Health and Human Services Committee, I call on you to immediately suspend Dr. Kablawi's license and commence a thorough investigation into his practice. The lives of some of Florida's Jews could hang in the balance."

This wasn’t even the first time Kablawi said such a thing. MEMRI has also reported that Kablawi said, in a Friday sermon on March 8, “Allah revealed to the messengers, instantly: ‘We will defeat the oppressors, and We will make you the dwellers of their land, of their homes.’… By Allah, those settlements that they built, by Allah we will live in them.… By Allah, we will seize [them]. By Allah, we will enjoy [them]. By Allah, we will live in [them]. If it is not us, our children will live in [them]. By Allah, the law of Allah and the shari’a of Allah will rule the land.”

This would amount to a prediction of the total destruction of Israel, which would mean a new genocide of the Jews, and Kablawi wasn’t finished. He prayed, “Oh Allah, support their mujahideen. Oh Allah, guide their shooting. Oh Allah, support them with our soldiers. Oh Allah, bring annihilation upon enemies of Islam. Oh Allah, bring annihilation upon the accursed Zionists. Oh Allah, curse them and then curse them some more. Oh Allah, heal the breasts of the believers.”

That time, he stopped short of praying that Allah would “annihilate the Jews.” This time, he didn’t.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Female Inmate Allegedly Raped by Trans Inmate in California Prison
[Breitbart] A woman at the Central California Facility for Women says she witnessed the immediate aftermath of a jailhouse rape by a transgender inmate.

Mimi Le provided a sworn declaration to lawyers with the Women’s Liberation Front, which will be included in the organization’s case against California, according to evidence from the filing obtained by Reduxx.

Le reportedly said she was one of many inmates who saw events involving what was described as a “sexual assault” committed by a man who identifies as a woman and was therefore locked up in a women’s prison.

On May 19, a female inmate was taken to a medical-administrative building after other female inmates reported to staff that she had been raped, Le explained, adding that she found the woman to be “barely conscious.”

Less than an hour later, the female victim was taken away on a stretcher under a “Code 3” alert, which means a person is unresponsive and unable to be revived via immediate methods, Le added.

Le and other inmates reportedly identified the alleged assailant as Jonathan Robertson, a biologically male transgender individual going by the name Siyaah Skylit.

Multiple inmates said they had heard Robertson shouting, “Fuck all you bitches. I’ll rape you. I’ll rape your mama. I’ll fuck all you bitches up — there is nothing you bitches can do.” He has also spit at fellow inmates, the women said.

“This was very triggering and saddening for everybody,” Le reportedly wrote in her declaration. “To be threatened by a man with doing a thing that he can do, that he is capable of doing, that he may already have done to other women, is terrifying.”

“They were concerned and discussed how to protect themselves; I convinced them to just go to their rooms while I asked for an update from the Captain to figure out how to proceed,” Le added.

Later, Le said she went to correctional staff to inquire about what, if anything, would be done about Robertson’s threatening behavior, at which point she learned he “had already been released back onto the yard.”

But “once the Captain learned of the rape threats, he decided along with the Sergeant to move [him] to administrative segregation,” the inmate said, adding that “before they could do that, the Warden overruled them, saying that an inmate-to-inmate threat is not an offense sufficient.”

Le went on to say that two days later, she and several other inmates were told they had been placed on a “confidential,” referring to a list of inmates who are considered to have their immediate safety under threat.

In her statement, Le said men “get to transfer to women’s prison because the prison fails to keep them safe from rape by other men in men’s prison — but now the prison is protecting [them] by getting [them] out of the men’s prison only to let [them] terrorize women with rape and violence threats.”

Shockingly, Robertson was immediately moved to the California Institution for Women — a lower security women’s correctional facility — just days after he issued rape threats, Reduxx reported.

“We are deeply saddened and disturbed by the reported rape at CCWF and by the reported actions of prison administrators, who have obviously failed in their duties to protect female inmates,” Women’s Liberation Front executive director Mahri Irvine told Reduxx.

“As the months pass by, more and more sexual assaults are being reported in prisons across the country — predatory male inmates are targeting vulnerable women, and women’s fears are disregarded by prison officials,” Irvine added.

Nearly 50 percent of male inmates identifying as female have been convicted of a sexual offense — compared to just 11 percent of biological males who do not identify as female — according to the Bureau of Prisons.

Meanwhile, among the incarcerated men seeking to transfer to women’s prisons in California, 33.8 percent (fully one-third) are registered sex offenders, with the sex offender inmate population being responsible for up to 50 percent of rapes that occur within the prison system, according to the Bureau of Prisons.

Puntland Security Forces Intercept Explosives and Capture Suspect in Bosaso
[ShabelleMedia] In a significant security operation, Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
’s naval forces have successfully apprehended a suspect and confiscated a cache of explosives, including hand grenades that were linked to recent severe explosions in the city of Bosaso.

Belousov cals it a priority to provide the Russian Armed Forces in the Northern Military District zone with modern weapons
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Candidate for the post of Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov outlined the priority tasks of the defense department. At a plenary meeting of the Federation Council on May 14, he stated that he had already begun to familiarize himself with the affairs of the ministry. According to him, all issues there are top priority.

Among these, he named the provision of military personnel with modern weapons and equipment in the zone of special military operation.

“A special military operation is underway, all pressing issues are related to this. First of all, we are talking about issues related to equipping the operating group, ensuring the supply of the most modern military and special equipment,” he said.

Belousov also noted that the most pressing issue now is the supply of ammunition, missiles, drones, and electronic warfare equipment to the troops located in the special operation zone.

“I am fully aware of my responsibility. Before the country, before the Russian people, before the President of the Russian Federation - in accordance with the planned purpose. I undertake to use all my strength, health, and, if necessary, life to solve the assigned tasks,” the candidate emphasized.

He added that under the leadership of the former head of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu, the country created a modern system of the Armed Forces.

As Regnum reported, after the inauguration of President Vladimir Putin on May 7, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on his resignation. On behalf of the head of state, the Cabinet continued to perform its duties until the formation of a new government.

The Kremlin reported on May 12 that by decree of President Sergei Shoigu, he was relieved of his post as Minister of Defense and appointed to the post of Secretary of the Russian Security Council. In turn, Putin proposed to the Federation Council to appoint Belousov, who held the post of First Deputy Prime Minister, as Minister of Defense.

As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov explained, the Ministry of Defense must respond to advanced ideas, and Belousov has experience in successfully leading the Ministry of Economic Development and working as assistant to the president on economic issues.

Belousov spoke at the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security on May 13. He said the Department of Defense has work to do. Thus, according to him, it is necessary to solve the problem of providing housing for SVO participants, solve the problem of payments to civilian personnel in military units, and also abandon the excessive bureaucracy associated with confirming benefits for the military.

Belousov calls victory with minimal losses the key task of the Northern Military District
The key objective of a special military operation is to achieve victory with minimal casualties. This was announced on May 14 by the candidate for the post of Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, speaking in the Federation Council.

“In the context of a special military operation, the key task, of course, remains achieving victory and ensuring the achievement of the military-political goals of the Northern Military District set by the president,” he said.

Belousov emphasized that this problem must be solved with minimal human losses.

As reported by IA Regnum, speaking at the Federation Council on May 14, Belousov said that he received from President Vladimir Putin the task of integrating the military economy into the country’s economy. According to him, an equally important task will be to make the military economy open to innovation.

He also outlined the priority tasks of the defense department. These include providing military personnel with modern weapons and equipment in the Northern Military District zone. According to him, the most pressing issue is the supply of ammunition, missiles, drones, and electronic warfare equipment.

The candidate for the post of Minister of Defense said that there is no talk of mobilization. At the same time, the issue of manning the Armed Forces remains important.

On May 13, during consultations in the Federation Council, Belousov noted that the Ministry of Defense needs to work on social security for participants in the special military operation and their treatment. In addition, he noted that it is necessary to address the situation with excessive bureaucracy and paperwork associated with confirming military benefits. This should be resolved within the framework of the electronic interaction system.

Ukrainian media distorted Financial Times article about Belousov
Ukrainian media accidentally or intentionally distorted the Financial Times material about the imminent appointment of Andrei Belousov to the post of head of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Thus, in the material of the British publication about Belousov, an opinion is given about personnel changes in the Russian Ministry of Defense. In particular, the appointment of the former first deputy prime minister is said to be a signal that Russia intends to change its approach to the Northeast Military District. At the same time, the author writes that Belousov, as a competent economist, is able to bring economic rigor to the country’s defense spending.

“The appointment of Belousov, a supporter of state industrial policy and a technocrat with no power base of his own, indicates that Putin wants tighter control over Russia's record 10.8 trillion ruble defense spending - and to do this he needs a managed, business-like official (in the original pliant, no-nonsense - Ed. ) He is absolutely not corrupt,” the article says.

Regnum news agency drew attention to the fact that some media and Telegram channels incorrectly translated part of the text. So, instead of a controlled and business-like official, for example, the Ukrainian UNIAN has a “flexible and unprincipled” one, which completely contradicts what was said in the article.

Three IS supporters convicted of preparing a terrorist attack in Cherkessk
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A court in Karachay-Cherkessia found three people guilty of preparing a terrorist attack and participating in the activities of Islamic State. They were sentenced to 18.5 years in a maximum security colony.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, in April 2022, the FSB reported on the detention  of three people in Karachay-Cherkessia on suspicion of connections with IS and preparation of a terrorist attack on the territory of the republic. During the search, components of an explosive device, new SIM cards, as well as a diagram of the location of buildings in the center of Cherkessk were confiscated from them.

According to the case materials, the accused, “sharing terrorist ideology,” established contacts with militants in Syria via Telegram, after which, at their direction, they arrived in Cherkessk, where they rented an apartment and chose one of the administrative buildings as the target of attack. They then purchased materials to assemble an explosive device and were detained, TASS reported today, citing the FSB press service.

All three defendants in the case were found guilty by the Southern District Military Court of preparing for a terrorist act, undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, participating in a terrorist organization and illegal trafficking in explosives. Each of them was sentenced to 18 years and 6 months of imprisonment to be served in a maximum security colony, the FSB noted.

The verdict has already entered into legal force.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" wrote that in April the court also sentenced residents of Stavropol Ansar Guseinov, Abdula and Miyasat Irkkuev, as well as Timur Bukharov to long prison terms, finding them guilty in the case of preparing a terrorist attack on behalf of the Islamic State.

King Charles III transfers Colonel-in-Chief role to Prince William at Army Air Corps ceremony
[AFRICANEWS] King Chuck
...King of England, Scotland, Ireland -- at least part of it -- Wales, Gibraltar, the Falkland Islands, and places like that. The first King Chuck had his head chopped off, the second one was Good Time Charlie. The third once wanted to be a tampon and thinks we'll all be extinct within the next seven years...
III has formally passed on the role of Colonel-in-Chief of The Army Air Corps to his son, Prince William, in a military ceremony at the Army Aviation Centre in southern England.

During the event in Middle Wallop, Hampshire, the 75-year-old monarch expressed his confidence in Prince William, highlighting his son's exemplary piloting skills.

"It's encouraging that he's a very good pilot indeed," remarked the King.

The symbolic transition marks a significant moment as the King, who had held the position for 32 years, hands over the baton to his eldest son. Despite ongoing cancer treatment, King Charles engaged with veterans at the event, discussing shared experiences, including the effects of chemotherapy.

Arriving by helicopter, the King joined Prince William for the formal ceremony, speaking fondly of his admiration for the Army Air Corps' work in Iraq and Afghanistan before endorsing Prince William as his successor.

Prince William, previously an RAF search and rescue pilot, has a history with aviation, spending three years at RAF Valley in Anglesey.

Reflecting on the passage of time, Kensington Palace shared images of Prince William's previous visits to the Army Air Corps.

Following the handover, the Prince of Wales embarked on his inaugural engagement with the Army Air Corps, familiarizing himself with its operations and inspecting training and operational aircraft.

[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Nigerian Army personnel under Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly killed a top commander of the Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād, otherwise known as Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, Tahir Baga during their recent raid on Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, the terrorist top commander was killed on Monday when the army cleared their enclaves of Shabaabul Umma, Garin Panel Beater and Lagara Anguwan Gwaigwai at the heart of the forest.

Zagazola added that the troops and the gunnies clashed in heavy shootouts which resulted in the death of several top Boko Haram commanders including Baga.

Several others escaped with gunshot wounds, according to the counter-terrorism expert.

"Third Baga was a close ally to Abubakar Shekau
....the lunatic leader of Boko Haram who has been reported dead at least eleven times, pledged his body and soul to ISIS, told his fighters to hang it up once or twice, and been fired by the Caliph and refused to step down. Last seen in 2017, sneaking into Cameroon while wearing a burka....
. He was among the first sets who founded the Boko Haram movement in Maiduguri before moving into Sambisa Forest with the likes of Mamman Nur, Khalid Albarnawi, Abubakar Shekau, Kaka Ali, Mustapha Chad, Abu Maryam and Abu Krimima.

"Tahir Baga was a revered Imam who was respected among the Sect group. He had on several bases truncated the efforts of many fighters and their families to surrender and also pushed many under-aged girls to go on suicide kaboom after convincing them that they would be granted paradise as an everlasting reward.

The Basmanny court sends a person involved in Kuznetsov bribe case to a pre-trial detention center
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Basmanny court sent Leva Martirosyan, who is a defendant in the case of giving a bribe to the ex-chief of the Eighth Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Yuri Kuznetsov, to pre-trial detention center. The press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction reported this on May 14.

“The person involved in the case of giving a bribe to the ex-chief of the Eighth Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was sent to a pre-trial detention center,” the message says.

It is noted that the court granted the request of the preliminary investigation authorities. A preventive measure was chosen against Martirosyan in the form of detention until July 12, 2024.

According to the investigation, Martirosyan is accused of giving a bribe on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The court was told that Kuznetsov was personally acquainted with Martirosyan through his work. At the same time, he had a criminal intent to take advantage of his official position and receive a bribe for general patronage in the interests of the bribe-giver.

As Regnum reported, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Kuznetsov on May 14. He was detained on suspicion of corruption.

The investigation requested the arrest of the official. Materials regarding the election of a preventive measure against him in the form of detention on May 13 were received by the 235th Garrison Military Court. The court hearing took place on the same day. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with receiving a bribe on an especially large scale (part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to investigators, in 2021–2023, Kuznetsov, as head of the Eighth Directorate of the General Staff, received a bribe from representatives of commercial structures for performing certain actions in their favor. During a search of his house, over 100 million in rubles and foreign currency, gold coins, collectible watches, and other luxury items were confiscated from him.

Kuznetsov took the post of head of the Main Personnel Directorate of the Ministry of Defense in 2023. Before that, for 13 years he headed the Eighth Directorate of the General Staff, responsible for protecting state secrets.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov did not comment on the arrest of the representative of the Ministry of Defense and forwarded this question to the investigative authorities.

IDF confirms Lebanon strike, says slain Hezbollah member was a top field commander

[IsraelTimes] A top Hezbollah field commander was killed in last night’s dronezap in southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, the military says.

Hussein Ibrahim Makki, according to the IDF, was a senior commander in the terror group’s so-called Southern Front unit. He previously commanded the Hezbollah’s coastal division, the military says.

Hezbollah announced his death earlier following the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
near Tyre, but did not refer to him as a commander.

The IDF says Makki "planned and carried out many terror attacks against the Israeli home front amid the war."
