[IsraelTimes] Police say they arrested three teenagers for attacking cops and demonstrators at an anti-government and pro-hostage deal protest in Kiryat Ono this evening.
In footage uploaded to social media of the incident, a large group of pro-Netanyahu counterprotesters can be seen brawling with police as they try to carry out arrests and cursing protesters in the surrounding area.
Officers also detained five people involved in a brawl between protesters and right-wing counter-demonstrators in Rehovot at a similar rally earlier that evening.
Four men arrived at the roadside protest in their car, and were seen filming protesters while shouting pro-Netanyahu slogans. He and another then began to scuffle with demonstrators, slapping them and trying to tear away their protest gear, including an Israeli flag.
“A vehicle arrived [to the protest], and its occupants began exchanging words with the protesters. The incident escalated into violence between the parties, and the police detained five suspects,” a police spokesman says.
Police detained some pro-hostage deal demonstrators alongside the counter protesters, including an elderly woman, according to a lawyers’ network that represents detained anti-government protesters.
A spokeswoman for the network adds that one of the counterprotesters has since been released from custody at the Rehovot police station.
Five violent attacks against anti-government protesters have occurred over the course of tonight’s demonstrations, according to Alimut Israel, a watchdog group tracking violence against protesters. The attacks took place in Rehovot, Kiryat Ono, Modiin, Tel Aviv, and Gome Junction in northern Israel.

The IDF said a ballistic missile fired at Israel was successfully intercepted by air defenses at around 2 a.m. The reason for the discrepancy in figures was unclear, but suggested that one had fallen short.
Sirens had sounded across central Israel, sending hundreds of thousands to seek shelter in the middle of the night.
Since March 18, when the IDF resumed its offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis in Yemen have launched 35 ballistic missiles and at least 10 drones at Israel. Several of the missiles have fallen short.
Launcher Unit
The Palestine-2 missile is launched from a mobile ground-based platform, providing significant mobility and operational flexibility. The launch platform is mounted on a heavy-duty truck designed to carry and launch the missile from concealed locations. This mobile system enhances survivability in a contested environment, allowing for rapid repositioning and reducing the risk of the launcher being targeted by counter-strikes. The launcher's design supports the quick deployment and firing of the missile, ensuring that it can be used in various terrain and under operational stress.

I voted Trump. I expected him to be on Israel's side. The side of democracy.
Instead, what does he do? Deals with the Saudis, Qatar, Iran, all the chief sponsors of Hamas.
Hamas are a genocidal terrorist group. Should we play the videos of Oct 7 again for you?

He’s shaping the environment to be less hostile, and mostly trusting Bibi to take care of Israel’s concerns.
Contrast with the Biden-Harris administration/Obama III, which actively, eagerly shaped the environment to be considerably more hostile while claiming loudly to be Israel’s best friend.

[IsraelTimes] Terror group says negotiations in Qatar held ‘without preconditions’; Israel’s Katz argues Gaza op brought Hamas to table; teams said discussing 2-month truce with US involvement
A new round of negotiations for a Gazoo ceasefire and hostage deal between Hamas ..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,... and Israel began in Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... on Saturday after the Israeli military launched its new expanded offensive in the Gaza Strip, according to both Israeli and Hamas officials.
Hamas confirmed a new round of talks was underway. Terror group official Taher al-Nono told Rooters that both sides were discussing all issues without "preconditions."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed Israel’s negotiating team to remain in Qatar for the time being, an Israeli official said late Saturday, in a move widely seen as indicating wary optimism about prospects for progress.
Netanyahu was in continuous contact throughout Saturday with the delegation, with Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, and with US envoy Steve Witkoff, "in an effort to dissuade Hamas from its refusal and to advance a deal for the release of our hostages," the official said.
Defense Minister Israel Katz argued that it was the start of the new campaign that had brought Hamas to the table.
Israeli and Hamas delegations had traveled to Qatar earlier in the week after the terror group released American-Israeli hostage soldier Edan Alexander, as part of an agreement with Washington that did not involve Israel and ahead of US President Donald Trump ...They hit him with slander, they impeached him twice. Nancy Pelosi tore up his State of the Union address on national TV. They stole an election and put his adherents in jail. They vilified him. They couldn't crucify him, so they shot him. Still, they can't keep him down... ’s visit to the region.
However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone... according to reports, those talks made little progress, with both sides entrenched in their usual positions: Israel demanding a temporary truce only so long as Hamas is undefeated, and the terror organization insisting on an end to the war.
On Saturday morning, Katz said in a statement: "With the launch of Operation Gideon’s Chariots in Gaza, led with great force by IDF command, the Hamas delegation in Doha announced a return to negotiations on a hostage deal, contrary to the intransigent stance they had taken up until that moment."
He added, "The heroism of IDF soldiers, the unity of the people, and the determination of the politicianship increase the chances of bringing back the hostages."
Hamas’s Nono said the group was "keen to exert all the effort needed" to help mediators make the negotiations a success, adding there was "no certain offer on the table."
The Qatari al-Araby al-Jadeed news site cited an unnamed senior Hamas source as saying negotiators in Doha were discussing a two-month truce deal during which talks would be held on ending the war. According to the source, there would be clear involvement from Washington to ensure that the agreement would be implemented.
Kan news reported that the deal on the table would see the release of 10 living captives for a one-and-a-half-to-two-month-long ceasefire. Around 200-250 Paleostinian prisoners would be released by Israel as part of such a deal, the report said, adding that the specific number remains a point of contention. Hamas would also hand over a list detailing the status of all remaining living and dead hostages on the 10th day of the ceasefire, the report said.
Channel 12 news reported, citing Egyptian sources, that Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya was meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed al-Thani Saturday night
An Israeli official told Channel 12 that the talks in Doha were "serious," but that "Hamas needs to understand they must agree to the Witkoff framework, and if not, the ground offensive will begin soon" in Gaza.
In March, US Special Envoy Witkoff proposed a temporary ceasefire of some 40 days in exchange for the release of about half of the remaining living hostages, and Israel has hoped to advance such an agreement.
Hamas has so far rejected partial deals, instead insisting on an agreement that would permanently end the war.
A Paleostinian source cited by the Kan public broadcaster on Saturday night asserted that the main obstacle to a deal is whether Israel will agree to give assurances that it won’t resume the war in Gaza after all the hostages are released. Hamas is demanding such international guarantees, including from the United States, in the current negotiations, the source said.
Hamas has said it is prepared to cede control of the Strip and agree to a year-long truce with Israel that includes security guarantees. However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone... it has long refused demands that it permanently disarm.
[IsraelTimes] Jake Wood of Gaza Humanitarian Foundation tells CNN other aid organizations ‘face a choice. This is the mechanism by which aid can be distributed. Are you willing to participate?’
The executive director of the newly established Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), Jake Wood, told CNN ...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for... on Saturday that conditions in Gaza are "clearly urgent," but that he expected positive updates on bringing in aid in the coming days. Wood couldn’t confirm when or how many aid trucks Israel would allow into Gaza.
The US- and Israel-backed aid organization, established to manage a new model for distributing humanitarian assistance in Gaza, announced on Wednesday that it would begin operating in the enclave by the end of the month and that Israel would lift its more than two-month blockade in the interim.
There was no Israeli confirmation of the announcement, but an Israeli official told The Times of Israel that one would be made in the coming days.
GHF is an organization that will oversee the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza in a manner that does not allow its diversion by Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... . It was established in close coordination with Israel amid mounting mistrust between Jerusalem and UN-backed aid groups that have been operating in the Strip to date.
GHF is backed by the Trump administration, but the rollout has been rocky, with many international organizations refusing to cooperate with it due to the strict conditions Israel is placing on its operations.
Among those restrictions was a limit on aid distribution sites to just four, all located in southern Gaza. Even GHF acknowledged in a memo earlier in May that the sites would only be enough to, at best, feed 60% of Gaza’s population.
Accordingly, GHF said in its inaugural Wednesday statement that it had asked and received Israeli approval for additional "Safe Distribution Sites" (SDSs) to be established throughout Gaza. The statement didn’t say how many SDSs Israel agreed to build. As of last week, only one SDS was in the process of construction by the Israel Defense Forces.
Wood agreed that the current number of distribution sites was "not sufficient" but added that it was "hard to say" if the foundation could do more without support from UN agencies.
"This plan is not perfect, but this plan will be feeding people by the end of the month, in a scenario where no one has allowed aid in over the course of the last 10 weeks," Wood, former CEO of the Team Rubicon disaster relief group, said in his first interview since starting the foundation.
"Ultimately, the community is going to face a choice. This is going to be the mechanism by which aid can be distributed in Gaza. Are you willing to participate? The answer is going to be, you know, pretty critical to whether or not this ramps up to sufficiently feed 2.2 million people in a very desperate situation."
Wood said he thinks the humanitarian community’s opposition to the foundation is due to "misinformation" about an Israeli role or involvement in the distribution, or claims that data would be shared with Jerusalem.
"I would not have participated in a plan that did those same things. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried... that is not the plan," Wood said, adding that he "unequivocally ... will not be a part of anything that forcibly dislocates or displaces the Paleostinian population."
GHF said it would launch operations by the end of May, but acknowledged that it would take time before it would be fully operational. Accordingly, the foundation said Israel has agreed "to allow the flow of transitional aid into Gaza under existing mechanisms" until the construction of "Safe Distribution Sites" is complete.
GHF said it secured the concession from Israel after Wood sent a letter to the Israeli government that outlined the organization’s requirements for operation.
The organization said this week it was in the "final stages" of securing enough food from aid organizations already operating in Gaza to box 300 million meals within the first 90 days of operation.
Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the enormous newt was trying to decide if Gloria was edible... Trump officials have been meeting in recent days with representatives from UN agencies and other international aid organizations, pressuring them to cooperate with the plan and, in at least one case, threatening to cut funding from groups that refuse.
Two organizations that have agreed to join the effort are American security firms UG Solutions and Safe Reach Solutions, who will be tasked with running logistics and security at the SDSs so that the IDF does not need to be directly involved, the Israeli official told The Times of Israel, adding that the military will only secure the perimeter of a still-being-built humanitarian zone where the SDSs will be located.
Israel has blocked aid from entering Gaza since March 2, arguing that enough assistance entered Gaza during a six-week ceasefire and that Hamas was diverting aid from civilians. Nonetheless, the IDF has warned the political echelon that the Strip is on the brink of starvation, the Israeli official told The Times of Israel.
In his letter to the Israeli government, Wood sought to address some of the concerns. He said the foundation would not share any personally identifiable information of aid recipients with Israel.
Wood also asked in the letter to the IDF to "identify and deconflict sufficient locations in northern Gaza capable of hosting GHF-operated secure distribution sites that can be made operational within thirty days."
The GHF statement did not address all of the criticism and unanswered questions that the international community has about the group, including who would fund the work and how much involvement the US, Israel, or any other government or military would have in controlling life-saving aid for Paleostinian civilians.

It was one of the most violent mostly peaceful days in the history of the world — not the Middle East, the world, when you look at the tapes."
Trump claimed, as he often has, that the massacre in southern Israel by Hamas-led bully boyz on October 7, 2023, would have never happened under his watch, arguing that Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. That attack, which sparked the ongoing war, killed some 1,200 people in southern Israel and resulted in the capture of 251 hostages who were taken to Gaza. Of them, 57 are still held captive, 34 of whom are confirmed dead by Israel.
"Bibi, he’s an angry man, and he should be because of October 7, and he’s been hurt badly by that, but in another way, he’s been sort of helped because I think he’s fought hard and bravely," Trump added, using Netanyahu’s nickname.
Trump has repeatedly denied reports of a rift between him and Netanyahu, insisting that his choice to not visit Israel during his trip to the region was not a snub, despite making several policy decisions without Israeli input or against Israel’s wishes, such as the ongoing Iran nuclear talks, the decision to restore ties with and lift sanctions from Syria, and the US ceasefire with the Iran's Houthi sock puppets ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. On Wednesday, Trump said his visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates was "good for Israel," adding that "having a relationship like I have with these countries... I think it’s very good for Israel."
Netanyahu also denied the reported rift, calling his relationship with Trump "excellent."
Despite the denials, Channel 13 reported last week that people in Netanyahu’s inner circle have expressed unusually harsh criticism toward the Trump administration in recent weeks.
"There’s chaos in the Trump administration — the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing," said a senior figure close to the premier, according to the report.
"It’s not even clear if this has anything to do with us. Everything operates according to the president’s whims. Sometimes that works in our favor, and sometimes it doesn’t," the source said.
Citing unnamed US officials, NBC reported last week that Netanyahu was growing increasingly frustrated with the US approach to Iran amid the nuclear talks, seemingly the largest point of contention between the two leaders.
Speaking to NBC, one US official said Israel was "worried about any deal" that the US could sign with Iran to thwart its nuclear ambitions.
To that end, two US officials said Netanyahu has privately dismissed the negotiations as a waste of time, arguing that even if a deal is forged, Tehran would inevitably break it.
Israel would rather take action and strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, the report said, and believes that the opportunity to do so is shrinking further the longer talks continue.
Jerusalem is reportedly unhappy that the ongoing US-Iran talks are said to be developing into a largely similar framework to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, which was signed by then-US president Barack Obama They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them... and was panned at the time by Netanyahu as disastrous for Israel. Trump withdrew from that deal in 2018.
Under the terms now being discussed, according to reports, Iran would limit stockpile size and centrifuge types, and dilute, export or seal its 60 percent uranium stock under unprecedented ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) scrutiny, in exchange for substantial sanctions relief.
This approach has not aligned with Netanyahu’s longtime position, which is that Israel will not allow Iran to attain nuclear weapons and is opposed to any talks that don’t lead Iran to agree to a "Libya-style agreement," under which Tehran’s entire nuclear program — both military and civilian — would be dismantled completely.
[IsraelTimes] Army also arrests others in West Bank’s Bruqin suspected of involvement in Wednesday’s terror shooting that killed Tzeela Gez, who had been heading to hospital to give birth
The Israel Defense Forces said Saturday that troops had killed a Paleostinian suspect in the West Bank who may have been involved in a terror shooting attack earlier in the week that killed a pregnant woman as she was traveling to the hospital to give birth.
The suspect ran toward the forces operating in the West Bank town of Bruqin, while allegedly shouting "holy shit! Allahu akbar" (God is greatest) and holding a backpack suspected of being booby-trapped, the military said, adding that he was rubbed out.
Several other suspects of involvement in Wednesday’s deadly terror attack were arrested.
In the attack near Bruqin and the settlement of Bruchin, a Paleostinian terrorist opened fire from the side of a road on Israeli motorists, killing Tzeela Gez, 30, and lightly wounding her husband, while they were heading to a hospital to give birth to their fourth child.
Gez was evacuated at death's door to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, where she was later declared dead. Hospital staff conducted an emergency C-section to save the newborn, who remains at death's door.
The Hamas ..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,... terror group praised the killing as "heroic" and called for more such acts, but did not claim responsibility.
IDF forces have been surrounding the Paleostinian towns of Bruqin and Kafr ad-Dik, located near the site of the attack, amid the hunt for the terrorist, who is believed to have acted alone.
Separately, the IDF said Saturday evening that troops had killed a Paleostinian who was allegedly hurling stones at Israeli motorists near the West Bank town of Burqa.

According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 950 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or hard boyz carrying out attacks.
There has also been a significant increase in settler violence against Paleostinians since the start of the war.

[Rudaw] Syria’s defense minister announced on Saturday that all armed units have been integrated into the Ministry of Defense, unifying the country’s armed forces, though he gave "remaining small military groups" a ten-day deadline to complete the process.
"Today, we convey to our honorable people the news of the integration of all units into the Syrian Ministry of Defense," Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra said in a post on X.
He said that the process to unify all the armed units under a single institutional structure began immediately following the end of the former regime.
"Given the importance of institutional work, we stress the need for the remaining small military groups to join the ministry within a maximum period of 10 days from the date of this announcement, in order to complete the efforts of unification and organization," he added, warning that any delay complying would be dealt with under the law.

(HTS) that led the final offensive to oust Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Light of the Alawites... , agreed to merge into the Syrian defense ministry.
The Syrian Democratic forces (SDF), which control the northeast, signed an agreement with Damascus on March 10, to integrate "all civil and military institutions in northeast Syria [Rojava] under the administration of the Syrian state, including border crossings, the [Qamishli International] Airport, and oil and gas fields."
Despite this deal, Kurds in Rojava are concerned about key decisions the new authorities in Damascus have made to centralize authority. The Damascus leadership in late April censured SDF's call for federalism, saying it contradicts their agreement.
Syria’s new authorities, led by interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, have dissolved the army and security agencies linked to the Assad government.
The new administration also dissolved all armed factions including Sharaa’s Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which led the lightning offensive that toppled Assad in December.
Factions that agreed to dissolve were integrated into the defense ministry, and General Security, the country’s new police, opened the door to recruits as part of both institutions’ efforts to create a new army and security force.
Factions from Daraa in the south, as well as The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... -backed factions in the north and Islamist groups also joined the ministry’s forces.
These factions have retained their weapons and remain deployed in their areas of operation.
But HTS and Islamist groups aligned with it remain dominant, especially in their original stronghold in Idlib in the northwest and in Damascus.
Syria’s new authorities face major challenges preventing them from asserting control over all of the war-torn country, including the presence of gangs with varying loyalties.
The main challenge for Abu Qasra, who as a rebel commander led the offensive that overthrew Assad, is building a new national army.

"Discussions are ongoing with our counterparts in neighboring countries regarding how the Death Eaters beyond our borders will surrender their weapons," Erdogan told news hounds on his return from Albania.
"The complete disarmament of the terrorist organization, the full implementation of the dissolution decision, and the abandonment of illegality are essential requirements," he added.
The PKK said on Monday that it had decided to "dissolve its organizational structure and end the armed struggle" against the Ottoman Turkish state. No timeline has been set.
The move, widely seen to include its disarmament, has been welcomed by regional and Western countries. Basim al-Awadi, spokesperson for the Iraqi government, said on Friday that Baghdad is willing to receive their weapons.
He also said that a potential PKK disarmament would boost Ankara-Baghdad relations and that if the process is done properly "this will certainly be encouraging and a factor in the withdrawal of all foreign forces from northern Iraq, that is, from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq."
The Ottoman Turkish army has established dozens of bases and outposts in northern Kurdistan Region on the pretext of fighting the PKK.
Erdogan said that the dissolution of the PKK "will also serve Iraq and Syria's peace, development, and stability."
Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said Baghdad has conducted in-depth discussions with the Ottoman Turkish authorities regarding next steps for the PKK.
"There are specific visions, and there will be cooperation between the federal government in Baghdad, the Ottoman Turkish government, and the Kurdistan Regional Government to deal with this important decision. “There are specific visions, and there will be cooperation between the federal government in Baghdad, the Turkish government, and the Kurdistan Regional Government to deal with this important decision. We hope that this decision will be a step toward achieving peace and stability in Turkey and the region,” he said.
Iraq banned the PKK in March last year ahead of a visit from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan when the two sides signed agreements in various fields, including security.
A PKK spokesperson said on Friday that the group has not decided to lay down arms yet, saying there has been no change to the security landscape in northern Kurdistan Region where the group is based and battling Turkish forces.
“No one has talked about laying down and surrendering weapons. The caves and tunnels of resistance in Zap and Metina are still surrounded by the Turkish state and the KDP,” Zagros Hiwa, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Community Union’s (KCK) foreign relations department, told the PKK-affiliated Sterk TV.
KCK is an umbrella organization consisting of several groups including the PKK.
The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is the most powerful political party in the Kurdistan Region and enjoys close relations with Turkey. The PKK has often accused it of supporting Ankara in anti-PKK operations.
“The distance between the guerrilla fighters and the Turkish occupying soldiers is 50 meters, 100 meters. In such a situation, how can one lay down weapons?” asked Hiwa. “Before we talk about laying down weapons, we need to talk about the withdrawal of the Turkish occupying army from the soil of Southern Kurdistan [Kurdistan Region]. It's too early to define this situation as a process.”
Iraqi government spokesperson Awadi said that the mechanism of the PKK’s potential disarmament will be discussed in talks between intelligence agencies of Iraq, Turkey and the Kurdistan Region.
This is not the first time Iraq has been involved in disarming a Kurdish group. A security pact signed between Iran and Iraq in March 2023 saw Baghdad agree to disarm Iranian Kurdish opposition groups and secure the border regions. The groups are being relocated within the Kurdistan Region.
Awadi said Baghdad intends to apply "the same mechanisms that we used with the Kurdish Iranian opposition inside Iraq, including weapons surrender and finding alternatives with the participation of the international community and organizations."
Turkey has named the peace efforts “terror-free Turkey.” During an event in Istanbul on Friday, Erdogan said that the 40 years of war with the PKK has affected the economy.
“We have also suffered a lot economically. We have had to allocate resources of nearly two trillion dollars to this issue. We have faced numerous problems in politics and democracy as well as in our unity and solidarity," he said.
"We have had to grapple with this issue besides other troubles in international relations. Our brotherhood has been harmed because of terrorism. Our development journey proceeded very slowly because of terrorism. Now, we are taking our steps very determinedly and yet very carefully to free our country and our nation from this scourge once and for all. We will not stop until we reach our target. We will definitely achieve the goal of a terror-free Turkey,” he said.
[ShabelleMedia] Somali Army’s 26th Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Abdirahman Hujale, was shot and killed on Saturday on the frontlines near Moqokori, in the Hiiraan region.
The shooting was carried out by a soldier named Abdullahi Hassan Ahmed, who was subsequently gunned down by fellow troops at the scene, according to security officials.
The bodies of both the commander and the assailant were airlifted to Mogadishu for further investigation, according to security sources, who spoke to Shabelle Radio.
This marks the second high-profile assassination of a senior military officer this year. Last month, Colonel Nur Farey was also killed near Afgoye, 30 kilometers from Somalia’s capital, in a similar attack by an individual in military uniform.
The killing of Brigadier General Hujale raises concerns about internal security within the Somali military and the potential for ongoing threats within the ranks.
The government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the killing of Commander Hujale.
His killing marks the latest in a string of high-profile assassinations of senior Somali military officers since 2022, underscoring the fragile security situation in the Horn of Africa nation.
In April, Lieutenant Colonel Nur Farey, commander of the 14th October Brigade, was killed near Afgooye town in the Lower Shabelle region. He was reportedly shot dead by a soldier while addressing troops at a local base.
Since early 2022, several top Somali military figures have been targeted in similar attacks, often in areas where government forces have been engaged in fierce battles with al Shabaab.
The deaths highlight the persistent dangers faced by Somali military leaders operating in volatile regions. Al Shabaab has waged an insurgency against the federal government for over 15 years and often targets both military personnel and civilians.
According to a statement from UMD’s 17 for Peace and Justice chapter, sit-in participants came up with seven total demands which university officials need to heed.
These include not cooperating with federal officials regarding “requests to monitor students and staff” and providing “identifiable information,” not assisting ICE and “other federal agencies targeting university community members,” and providing “institutional and financial support to university community members impacted by new policies.”
Sit-in participants “wrote postcards” to UMD President Darryll Pines “demanding action” on these and other items,
…and did all the usual protest nonsense. So derivative,

House Committee Requests Interview With President of Northwestern Regarding Campus Antisemitism
A U.S. House committee has sent a letter to Northwestern University President Michael Schill requesting that he interview regarding recent instances of anti-Semitism at the school. The April 28 letter from the Committee on Education and the Workforce, led by Chairman Tim Walberg, demands a transcribed interview and further accountability from Schill over escalating anti-Semitism on campus.
The committee initiated its investigation in 2024 following a wave of assaults and harassment against Jewish students. Despite Schill’s prior testimony and promised reforms—including increased security, revising student conduct codes, and creating a task force—the committee stated that it finds the university’s follow-through inadequate. Key allegations include a Jewish student being spat on and told to “go back to Germany and get gassed,” widespread harassment during a 2024 anti-Israel encampment and anti-Semitic graffiti during Passover.
“Since your testimony at the Committee’s May 23, 2024 hearing, despite Northwestern’s claims to the contrary, the Committee has not seen your commitments to discipline, enforcement, and security come to satisfactory fruition,” the letter states.
New York Lawmakers Blast CUNY Leader After Anti-Israel Chaos Erupts at Brooklyn College
“It is unacceptable but not surprising that almost two years after October 7th — after an investigation into CUNY and several public hearings — we are still grappling with disruptive and criminal behavior against Jewish students, encampments and masked agitators on campus,” reads a May 9 letter to Brooklyn College chancellor Félix V. The letter was signed by Councilmembers Inna Vernikov, Farah Louis, Mercedes Narcisse, and Robert Holden, and Assemblymembers Kalman Yeger, Lester Chang, Eric Ari Brown, Jamie Williams and Alec Brook-Krasny.

NYU says student denied diploma after he ‘lied’ about graduation speech condemning Israel
Logan Rozos’s speech on Israeli ‘genocide’ draws applause from some in audience, condemnation from pro-Israel groups; university says he ‘lied about the speech he was going to deliver’. NYU, which is attended by Trump’s son, Barron, has largely avoided the president’s ire so far.
Rozos, an actor and member of the Gallatin Theater Troupe, was selected by fellow students to give the liberal arts program’s address. He said he felt a moral and political obligation to speak to the audience about what he called the atrocities in Gaza. The speech drew loud cheers from the crowd along with a standing ovation from some graduating students.
“They are bending over backward to crack down on speech that runs counter to what the current administration in Washington espouses,” said Andrew Ross, a professor of social and cultural analysis at NYU.
“Myself and many of my colleagues are frankly appalled at the decision that’s being made to deny a student speaker his diploma,” Ross added. “This is a very good example of an administration falling down on the job.”

[CampusReform] Nine of the students that were arrested at Columbia University for taking over the school’s library reportedly ask to be referred to with 'they/them' pronouns. In the alleged incident, Mahdawi visited a Vermont gun shop in the summer of 2016, expressing interest in purchasing a “sniper rifle and an automatic weapon.” Mahdawi said, according to the government’s allegation, that he “had considerable firearm experience and used to build modified 9mm submachine guns to kill Jews while he was in Palestine.”
There also appears to be corroborating evidence for Mahdawi making statements about “killing Jews.”
“The store owner gave the police the name of a fellow gun enthusiast who stated that he had a similar conversation with Mr. Mahdawi at the ‘Precision Museum’ in Windsor where the enthusiast served as a volunteer tour leader,” Judge Crawford’s opinion states. “During that conversation, Mr. Mahdawi allegedly told the enthusiast, ‘I like to kill Jews.’”
According to Crawford’s opinion, the government also pointed in its brief “to an incident in January 2019 when Mr. Mahdawi was stopped at the border and found to be carrying drugs.”
[IsraelTimes] Counter-terror officials call probe ‘a very complex and fast-moving investigation,’ but have not detailed targets of plot
Three Iranian nationals have been charged with suspected espionage for Iran’s intelligence services from August 2024 to February 2025, UK police said on Saturday.
The three were all arrested on May 3 in what the capital’s Metropolitan police called "a very complex and fast-moving investigation" and were due to appear in a London court later on Saturday.
They were named as Mostafa Sepahvand, 39, Farhad Javadi Manesh, 44, and Shapoor Qalehali Khani Noori, 55, all with addresses in London.
The arrests come amid heightened concerns about Iranian activities on UK soil.
"These are extremely serious charges under the National Security Act, which have come about following what has been a very complex and fast-moving investigation," said Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s Counter-Terrorism command.
"Since the men were arrested two weeks ago, detectives have been working around the clock," he added.
All three were charged with "engaging in conduct likely to assist a foreign intelligence service between 14 August 2024 and 16 February 2025," the police said.
"The foreign state to which the charges relate is Iran," the police said in their statement.
Sepahvand was also charged with "surveillance, reconnaissance and open-source research... intending to commit acts, namely serious violence against a person in the United Kingdom."
While Manesh and Noori were also charged with "surveillance and reconnaissance with the intention that acts, namely serious violence against a person in the United Kingdom, would be committed by others.
A fourth man was arrested on May 9 as part of the investigation, but has now been released without charge, the police added in their statement.
The National Security Act gives law enforcement greater powers to disrupt "state threats" including foreign interference and espionage.
Interior Minister Yvette Cooper thanked the police in a statement on May 4.
"These are serious events that demonstrate the ongoing requirement to adapt our response to national security threats," she said.
Law enforcement has not detailed the targets of the Iranians.
British media reported earlier this month on mounting speculation that the arrested Iranians had been "hours away" from carrying out an attack on a synagogue, though there was no confirmation of the reports.

The measures, due to come into place later this year, will mean that all people working inside the UK for Iran, its intelligence services, or the Revolutionary Guard would have to register or face jail.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper vowed to boost national security powers following the charges, which come amid heightened concerns about Iranian activities on UK soil.
In October, the head of Britain’s MI5 domestic intelligence service revealed that since 2022, the UK had uncovered 20 Iran-backed plots posing “potentially lethal threats.”
“Iran must be held to account for its actions,” Cooper said, adding that the UK needed to “strengthen our powers to protect our national security as we will not tolerate growing state threats on our soil.”
The three men were all remanded in jug following a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in central London.
The BBC reported that the three were accused of targeting UK-based journalists working for the Farsi-language Iran International television news network, an independent media organization based in London. Iran has labeled the outlet a terror organization.
The Home Office said the suspects were all irregular migrants colonists, having arrived by small boat or other means, such as hidden in a vehicle, between 2016 and 2022.
’STATE THREATS’
Sepahvand was also charged with "surveillance, reconnaissance and open-source research... intending to commit acts, namely serious violence against a person in the United Kingdom."
Manesh and Noori were also charged with "surveillance and reconnaissance with the intention that acts, namely serious violence against a person in the United Kingdom, would be committed by others."
A fourth man was arrested on May 9 as part of the investigation, but has now been released without charge, the police added in their statement.
The National Security Act gives law enforcement greater powers to disrupt "state threats," including foreign interference and espionage.
Five Iranian nationals were also arrested on May 3 in a separate investigation, with four of them remaining in jug after warrants of further detention were secured.
The four were arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. A fifth was bailed to an unspecified date in May.
According to a report from The Telegraph, which cited an unnamed prosecutor at the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the three individuals arrived in the UK illegally via migrant boats over the English Channel and on the back of lorries. Upon reaching Britain, the suspected spies applied for asylum.
The report claimed that the court heard that Mr Sepahvand clandestinely entered the UK on the back of a lorry in 2016 before seeking asylum over alleged religious persecution in his homeland of Iran.
Mr Manesh, who reportedly illegally landed on British shores after crossing the Channel illegally in a small boat in December of 2019, also claimed asylum on religious grounds.
Finally, Mr Noori is reported to have first come into contact with police in 2022 after entering the country illegally, after which he also applied for asylum. All three were reportedly granted leave to remain in the country while their asylum claims were being processed.
[IsraelTimes] Gideon’s Chariots offensive involves seizing control of ‘strategic areas,’ officials say; troops said advancing on Deir al-Balah, where ground forces have not operated since Oct. 7

In a statement, the military said it had "launched extensive attacks and mobilized forces" over the past days, "to achieve all the goals of the war in Gaza, including the release of the hostages and the defeat of Hamas."
"IDF troops in the Southern Command will continue to operate to protect Israeli citizens and realize the goals of the war," the military added.
Paleostinian media reported on Saturday that IDF ground troops had advanced overnight toward central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah. According to the reports, heavy artillery fire and airstrikes were carried out in the eastern Deir al-Balah area as the forces advanced.
Deir al-Balah is one of the few areas of the Strip where Israel has not sent ground troops since the Hamas onslaught of October 7, 2023, which sparked the war in Gaza. Ground forces have previously operated on the outskirts of the town, but not deep inside it.
Social media users posted pictures of what they said were leaflets the IDF had scattered in the area of the town, instructing residents to flee. It was not immediately clear if the leaflets were genuine.
The reported leaflet featured the IDF logo on one corner and a Star of David captioned "righteous conquest," in Arabic, on the other corner. Over a background that showed a sea parted over destroyed buildings, the leaflet quoted a Koranic verse about the "Parting of the Sea," and below it a message: "Residents of Gaza, the Israeli army approaches."
According to Israeli officials, the operation would see the IDF "conquer" Gaza and retain the territory, attack Hamas, prevent the terror group from taking control of humanitarian aid supplies, and move Paleostinians from Gaza’s north to its south.
An Israeli defense official said earlier this month that the operation would not be launched before the end of Friday of US President Donald Trump ...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election. HAMAS AUTHORITIES SAY DOZENS KILLED IN AIRSTRIKES
Airstrikes were reported Saturday in the areas of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, and Jabalia, in the Strip’s north. Marwan Al-Sultan, director of northern Gaza’s Indonesian Hospital, said Saturday morning that the medical center had since midnight received “58 martyrs, while a large number of victims remain under the rubble.”
Sultan said the situation at the hospital was “tragic and catastrophic after its surroundings were targeted again this morning, causing the collapse of ceilings and cracks in the walls.”
“The operating rooms and intensive care units are completely full, and we are unable to receive any more critical cases,” he said.
He added there was “a severe shortage of blood units, medicines, medical and therapeutic supplies, and surgical procedures.”
Doctors had been forced to source blood for transfusions from other patients and even from themselves “due to the impossibility of donations from citizens due to malnutrition,” said Sultan.
Meanwhile, Hamas’s civil defense agency said 10 bodies had been brought to Gaza hospitals following strikes Saturday morning.
Agency spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP that three people were killed and four wounded in drone strikes east of Khan Younis, while three others were killed and several wounded in the bombing of a house in Jabalia.
An attack on an apartment northwest of Khan Younis killed three people, while one person was killed and five wounded, “including a girl, a young woman and a pregnant woman,” in a strike on a tent west of the city, he added.
More than 300 Gazans have been killed in Israeli strikes since Thursday, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, which says more than 53,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the war so far.
The tolls cannot be verified and do not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas, including homes, hospitals, schools and mosques.
Israel says it has killed some 20,000 combatants in battle as of January, and another 1,600 terrorists inside the country during the October 7 onslaught, when thousands of Hamas-led terrorists killed some 1,200 people and took 251 hostages.

He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years... expressed astonishment at Israel’s expanded operation in the besieged Strip.
"We need a permanent ceasefire, now," said Guterres. "I am alarmed by reported plans by Israel to expand ground operations and more."
His comment followed a statement by UN aid chief Tom Fletcher rejecting a US-backed proposal to deliver aid to Gaza without it going to Hamas.
“To those proposing an alternative modality for aid distribution, let’s not waste time. We already have a plan,” he said, adding that the UN has a proven plan and 160,000 pallets of relief ready to enter the Palestinian enclave now.
Fletcher enraged Israel’s mission to the UN this week after he told the body’s security council to act “to prevent a genocide” in Gaza. Israel has angrily rejected the accusation that it is perpetrating a genocide.
Israel halted the flow of aid to Gaza on March 2, hours after the Gaza ceasefire-hostage deal’s first phase expired amid Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to negotiate the second phase, which would have required an end to the war. On March 18, Israel resumed hostilities in Gaza with a surprise series of deadly airstrikes.
Following the 42-day first phase and the release of Edan Alexander on Monday, terror groups in Gaza still hold 58 hostages, at least 35 of whom have been confirmed dead, including a soldier killed fighting in the 2014 Gaza war.
The military describes the tunnel as “strategic.” It was located and destroyed by troops of the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade and Yahalom combat engineering unit.
Report: Body of Hamas leader Muhammad Sinwar found in Gaza tunnel struck by IDF
[IsraelTimes] The Saudi channel Al-Hadath reports that the body of Muhammad Sinwar, the de facto commander of Hamas’s military wing in Gaza, was found in a tunnel in Khan Younis where the terror leader was targeted by the Israel Defense Forces last week.
According to the report, the bodies of 10 of Sinwar’s aides were found with him.
It is also reported that there is evidence that the commander of the Rafah Brigade in Hamas’s military wing, Mohammad Shabana, was also killed in the strike.
Israel has not confirmed the deaths of either Sinwar or Shabana.
The strikes on Tuesday targeted an underground command compound below the European Hospital where Sinwar was believed to be sheltering. The IDF later bombed the area several more times, in an apparent attempt to prevent anyone from approaching the tunnel.
Sinwar, a senior Hamas military commander, is the younger brother of the former Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by the IDF in southern Gaza last October.
Following the killing of Hamas’s top military commander, Muhammad Deif, last July, Muhammad Sinwar took charge of the terror group’s military wing. Later, after Sinwar’s older brother was killed by IDF troops, he became the de facto leader of the terror group in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli officials have described Muhammad Sinwar as obstinate with regard to negotiations with Hamas for the release of hostages, and an obstacle to reaching a ceasefire deal.
The younger Sinwar is also wanted for terrorist actions against Israel and has been active in Hamas for decades.
He was jailed by Israel in the 1990s for nine months and spent an additional three years in a Palestinian Authority prison in Ramallah, from which he escaped in 2000. In 2006, Sinwar was part of a Hamas cell that abducted IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. He also previously commanded Hamas’s Khan Younis Brigade.
Most of Hamas’s leadership has been eliminated by Israel during the ongoing war.

[IsraelTimes] A Chicago theater will hold a screening of “Bring the Family Home,” a documentary about campus antisemitism, days after canceling an advance screening of the film.
Rami Even-Esh, an Israeli-American Jewish rapper who uses the stage name Kosha Dillz, created the still-unfinished documentary about his music and life on college campuses after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel in which invaders killed some 1,200 people and took 251 hostages to Gaza.
He tells The Hollywood Reporter that the theater, Facets, changed its position Friday after media attention and outcry by Jewish groups. The theater will play the film in the coming weeks.
“This is incredible. I was practically crying on the Zoom [when informed of the decision],” Kosha Dillz tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding he will not shoot the ending of the movie when the screening is held.
Tuesday’s screening was also to feature a panel discussion with Kosha Dillz and Michael Kaminsky, a Jewish student who was assaulted last November in an alleged hate crime at the nearby DePaul University.
Before Tuesday’s screening could take place, Facets, an independent cinema in Chicago, canceled it. The theater announced the decision in a since-deleted post on Instagram that night that began with the sentence, “We are firmly not an antisemitic organization.”
It cited statements by the filmmaker, though it did not detail what he said.

[IsraelTimes] The German current affairs show Panorama says it acquired the full, highly classified document reported by German tabloid Bild in September, claiming that the publication seriously distorted the file.
While Bild presented the document as evidence that Hamas was not interested in reaching a serious ceasefire-hostage deal with Israel, Panorama says the full document shows Hamas was ready to be flexible in arrangements and sought a truce for 84 days with a pathway to ending the war.
If the pathway did not involve Hamas completely disarming, exile from Gaza, and returning all hostages living and dead, it was merely a hudna proposal at best, not a viable offer.
The Bild report excluded this information and presents Hamas as indifferent to whether the ongoing war ends quickly. It reported that it instead prioritized maintaining the terror group’s military capabilities, “exhausting” Israel’s military and political apparatuses, and increasing international pressure on Israel.
Bild reported that the document was found on a computer in Gaza that belonged to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. It later became apparent that the document was written by lower-level officials in the terror group and did not necessarily reflect the leadership’s position.
Indeed.
The document was allegedly unlawfully removed from the IDF’s military intelligence database by the reservist — a non-commissioned officer (NCO) — who gave it to Eli Feldstein, an aide to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who saw to it that it was transferred to Bild, though he was aware that it was obtained illicitly and that the military censorship had barred the information from publication.

For passing on sensitive Indian information to Pak intelligence operatives, a case has been lodged against her under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Hindustan Times reported.
WHO IS JYOTI MALHOTRA?
Jyoti Malhotra owns a YouTube channel 'Travel with Jo' which has 377,000 subscribers. She got in touch with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a staffer at the Pakistain High Commission (PHC) in New Delhi in 2023. She has been her handler who introduced her to Pak Intelligence Operatives (PIOs).
In 2023, she went to Pakistain twice where she met Ali Ehwan, Shakir, and Rana Shahbaz. She saved their names using fake names like Jatt Randhawa for Rana Shahbaz so that nobody would get suspicious. She has been in touch with these people through encrypted platforms.
While portraying herself as a travel enthusiast, authorities allege she was part of a covert influence campaign promoting a favourable image of Pakistain on social media. Her substantial online following, Sherlocks say, provided her handlers in Pakistain with a platform to shape narratives.
Another key accused, Guzala, a 32-year-old widow from Punjab ...1. Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2. A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3. A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots
.... 's Malerkotla, was allegedly lured into the spy ring after visiting the Pakistain High Commission in Delhi in February 2025. There, she met Danish, who cultivated a romantic relationship with her, shifting their conversations to Telegram for "security." Over weeks, Danish sent her payments-totaling ₹30,000 via PhonePe and Google Pay-before directing her to funnel portions to suspicious accounts, according to a report in India Today.
Guzala later returned to the High Commission with a friend, Banu Nasreena, also a widow, and secured visas with Danish's help-a detail that has raised concerns about exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
THE WIDER NETWORK
Among others arrested:
Yameen Mohd (Malerkotla): Allegedly handled financial transactions and visa logistics for operatives.
Devinder Singh Dhillon (Kaithal): A Sikh student recruited during a Pakistain pilgrimage; accused of filming Patiala's military cantonment.
Arman (Nuh): Supplied Indian SIMs, transferred funds, and attended Defence Expo 2025 on Pak handlers' orders.
The arrests come amid heightened India-Pakistain tensions following the April terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... , where 26 people-primarily Hindu men-were executed at close range by Death Eaters. India blames Pakistain-backed groups, including the Kashmir Resistance (a front for the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba ...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...> ), for the attack. In retaliation, India launched 'Operation Sindoor', targeting terrorist hubs across the border.
[OneIndia] Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, was India's forceful and calculated military retaliation, targeting nine terror bases in Pakistain and Pakistain-occupied Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... . But it wasn't just firepower that stunned the Pakistain military - it was strategic deception.
According to an ANI report citing top defence sources, the Indian Air Force (IAF) used unmanned aircraft disguised as fighter jets to confuse and disable Pakistain's Chinese-supplied HQ-9 air defence systems during the May 9-10 offensive.
Before launching its long-range missile strikes, the IAF deployed decoy aircraft camouflaged to mimic real jets. Pak radars, mistaking them for actual fighters, scrambled to intercept, triggering the activation of their missile defence systems and unintentionally revealing key locations.
Pakistain's Air Force responded by redeploying HQ-9 launchers and radars across different sites - some newly activated - but these, too, were detected by Indian surveillance.
With the deception complete, the IAF launched a barrage of missiles, including BrahMos, Scalp, Rampage, and Crystal Maze. Around 15 BrahMos missiles were reportedly used, marking their first known use in active combat. The strikes targeted and damaged airstrips, hangars, communication nodes, and reportedly took out an airborne early warning aircraft and drones in Sindh.
Sources told ANI the airbase strikes were so precise and overwhelming that Pakistain dropped any plans for retaliation and urgently sought DGMO-level talks to de-escalate the situation.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF OPERATION SINDOOR:
Planning & Execution: The mission was coordinated by the Western and Southwestern Air Commands.
Defensive Measures: Pak counterattacks involving cruise missiles and unmanned combat drones were mostly thwarted by India's S-400, MRSAM, Akash, and other defence systems.
Ceasefire & Tensions: Shortly after the strikes, India and Pakistain agreed to an immediate ceasefire across land, air, and sea. However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things... within hours, a series of drone sightings and explosions were reported in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting India to activate its air defence to neutralise potential threats.
[Rudaw] Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...> said on Saturday that the United States "must and will leave" the Middle East and described President Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... ’s remarks during his recent trip to the region as shameful.
In a televised address, Khamenei lamented that Washington is trying to convince Arab countries that they cannot survive without American support. "This model has definitely failed," he said. "With the struggles of regional nations, the US must and will leave this region."
"Some of the remarks made during the US president’s trip to the region aren’t even worth a response at all. The level of those remarks is so low that they are a source of shame for the American nation," Khamenei said on X.
Trump on Friday concluded a major Gulf tour - his first since returning to office - where he secured long-term partnerships and investments worth trillions of dollars.
Speaking at the US-Saudi Investment Forum 2025 on Tuesday, Trump labeled Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... the "most destructive force" behind instability in the region.
He said that while "Iran will never have a nuclear weapon," it could still have "a much brighter future" if it chooses a path of peace, referencing the ongoing Oman-mediated nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran.
"I want to make a deal with Iran," Trump added, but warned that "if Iran's leadership rejects this olive branch and continues to attack their neighbors, then we will have no choice but to inflict massive maximum pressure, drive Iranian oil exports to zero like I did before."
"Iran has a choice... between continuing its chaos and terror or embracing peace," the US president said, adding, "We don't have much time to wait."
In his response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday criticized Trump for making "remarks that reveal his profound misunderstanding of the Iranian people" and rejected "the claim that Iran is a source of insecurity."
Indirect talks between Iran and the US over Tehran’s nuclear program began on April 12 in Oman.
The revived talks represent the most substantive engagement between the two countries since the unraveling of the 2015 nuclear deal under which Iran agreed to curb its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.
In 2018, during his first term in office, Trump unilaterally withdrew the US from the deal and reimposed sweeping sanctions on Tehran. In response, Iran began gradually scaling back its commitments under the deal.
Tehran has consistently maintained that its nuclear program is intended for peaceful purposes and that the pursuit of nuclear weapons contradicts the principles of the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

It's being floated that Trump will cut a deal with Iran, pull the rug out from under Israel and declare AIPAC a foreign agent.
This is a color revolution against Netanyahu. What's next, forged polls showing no support for Netanyahu?
Stop Trump from meddling in Isreali politics. Those are for Isrealis to decide, not Americans! Stay out!

You haven't seen it? They're pushing this Trump/Netanyahu rift thing to try to cause the government crushing Hamas to fall. if Trump tries any bullshit he's going to feel the full fury of AIPAC. Don't mess with Israel.
#5
My thoughts, with no understanding of military matters whatsoever:
“They” are indeed pushing the idea hard. But I think we just saw with the Houthis how PM Netanyahu is handling it: Israel held off while President Trump made his deal, a deal that only applied to America. And as soon as America disengaged, Israel dropped the hammer, sending a fleet of airplanes to pound the Hodeidah ports used for receiving shipments from Iran. And for all the talk about how America is incapable of really damaging the Houthis, and how the Houthis so easily shoot down American planes and drones, they haven’t managed to do touch or stop Israel’s.
As soon as President Trump was sworn in, America started shipping the really heavy bombs that Israel needs to destroy Iran’s underground nuclear sites. They have not yet been used, assuredly not because Bibi has forgotten he has them, or that the IAF wiped out Iran’s entire anti-system.

If you go to the CNN or MSNBC, Drudge, major network websites you will read about "friction" between Trump and Netanyahu. It's out there daily. So Gepids has a point.
#8
Many of the Israeli news sites, too. And all the noisy Israeli opposition have been fussing about it, as well as some of Bibi’s more nervous allies.
But President Trump has openly been threatening Iran with the Israeli attack dog, if Iran does not quickly negotiate a surrender on the nuclear thing. There’s also this post today, about what he’s thinking about Hamas.
#9
All those 2,000 pound bombs were used up on targets in Gaza.
Iran needs to be taken out by the USA. Iran is just too big for the IDF to handle by itself.
And what is Trump doing? Deals with the genocidal enemy! Hamas' biggest sponsor! Hezbollah! Terrorist groups all over the region. Regime change in Iran and all of these problems are over. Trump is resisting this obvious solution, which is a huge problem. Americans need to come together and make it unambiguously clear that we stand with Israel and that Iran is America's enemy as much as it is Israel's.
#10
America was trying to exit the Persian Gulf in 90 when I was there. Iran is not a good place for ground troops and the being beyond the Straights of Hormuz becomes a fist fight in a phone booth for the USN. The Abraham Accord structure is a good way to isolate Iran. Dropping the price of oil is an excellent way to hamstring their shenanigans. If they go nuclear, it won’t do them any more good than it has done NK.

All those 2,000 pound bombs were used up on targets in Gaza.
Do you mean Lebanon? I thought they were using precision stuff in Gaza, with much of the destruction coming from the secondaries, ie. Hamas weapons cooking off.
But the big Hezbollah bombings happened before President Trump was sworn in, and Trump opened the spigot immediately afterward.
#12
the IDF reportedly used several dozen 2k# bombs in Lebanon
they have lots more but I'm not sure the IDF could deliver them on targets in Iran
I agree with others that the best way to hurt the klepto-mullahocracy is by keeping the price of oil to $55-60/bar plus tighter sanctions. It will be difficult to get the IGRC to abandon the regime but this is crucial to success.

[Last Refuge] At first blush the question seems curious, but when you further think about it the question becomes rather important. If Joe Biden was not cognitively aware of what was happening around the office of the president, then who exactly was controlling the use of his signature via the auto-pen?
In a functioning democracy with a purposefully curious media, the fourth estate would be demanding a congressional investigation to get the answers and context for who was really carrying out the agenda of the Biden administration. Unfortunately, as a nation we lost that ’fourth estate’ a long time ago, and congress is of no help. President Trump:
..."Whoever had control of the "AUTOPEN" is looking to be a bigger and bigger scandal by the moment. It is a major part of the real crime, THAT THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2020 WAS RIGGED AND STOLEN! Millions and millions of people knew that, but the Radical Left Democrats waged a campaign of inoculation and innocence like none that had ever been waged before. THIS IS WHY THE UNSELECT COMMITTEE OF POLITICAL THUGS, WHO WERE GIVEN A FULL AND COMPLETE PARDON BY THE PERSON WHO WIELDED THE NOW ILLEGALLY USED AUTOPEN, DELETED AND DESTROYED ALL EVIDENCE AND INFORMATION FROM THEIR CORRUPT AND VICIOUS WITCH HUNT AGAINST ME, AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE, WHOSE LIVES WERE COMPLETELY SHATTERED AND DESTROYED BY THIS HISTORICALLY CRIMINAL EVENT. Remember, it all began with DIRTY COP James Comey, Obama, a hapless and cognitively impaired Sleepy Joe Biden, and my now very famous ACCUSATION that,"THEY SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN!" Whoever had control of the Autopen is just the beginning. The biggest crime of all is that THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WAS RIGGED! I (MAGA!) WON THE ELECTION BY MILLIONS OF VOTES, AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT. GOD BLESS AMERICA, FOR THE FIGHT HAS JUST BEGUN!!!" (source)
[Breitbart] U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement carried out a targeted enforcement operation last week that landed more than 400 illegal aliens in jail. During the same period, the Houston Field Office deported more than five hundred aliens who exhausted their due process and had been ordered removed from the United States.
“In recent years, some of the world’s most dangerous fugitives, transnational gang members, and criminal aliens have taken advantage of the crisis at our nation’s southern border to enter the U.S. illegally,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford said in a written statement. “After illegally entering the country, these violent criminal aliens have infiltrated our local communities and reigned terror on law-abiding residents, leaving countless innocent victims in their wake.”
From May 4 through May 10, Houston ERO officers and other federal and state of Texas law enforcement agencies rounded up 411 illegal aliens. Officials said these included 2296 criminal aliens — many with convictions for violent offenses. Those arrested included:
A 46-year-old criminal alien from Colombia, arrested May 7, has been convicted in Colombia of homicide and providing false information to law enforcement.
A 40-year-old three-time deported criminal alien from Mexico arrested May 8, who has been convicted three times for possession of a controlled substance, twice for illegal discharge of a firearm, and once for arson, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, illegal entry, criminal mischief, and driving while intoxicated.
A 32-year-old five-time deported criminal alien from Mexico arrested May 7, who has been convicted twice for burglary, larceny, and illegal reentry, and once for aggravated assault.
A 45-year-old criminal alien from Mexico, arrested May 5, who has been convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor.
A 72-year-old criminal alien from Mexico arrested May 6, who has been convicted of homicide, robbery, shoplifting, assault, and carrying a prohibited weapon.
“Illegal activities breed further crime, and our collaborative efforts through these enforcement operations have allowed us to do what the DEA does best, remove drugs off the streets that are devastating lives and dismantle drug networks, safeguarding our communities,” said DEA Houston Division Acting Special Agent in Charge William Kimbell. “These operations have allowed us to share our resources with our federal partners and expand our scope of DEA drug trafficking investigations to achieve the common goal of making communities safer.”
ERO carried out expedited removal operations that led to the deportation of 528 illegal aliens.
“To expedite the removal of these aliens during the operation, ICE Houston leveraged an initiative established under the current administration to funnel aliens to designated hubs on the southern border where they are quickly processed and removed to their country of origin within 24-72 hours of their arrest,” ERO officials stated.
FBI Houston Special Agent in Charge Douglas Williams added, “Our intel support is as strong as our tactical support. By working together and sharing what we know with our partners, we have been able to prioritize the worst of the worst criminals, and that’s what we will continue to do.”
CBP Air and Marine Operations (AMO) participated in the roundup and removal process by providing transportation support. “Our team is ensuring these operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full coordination with our federal partners,” AMO Houston Air Branch Acting Director Jeremy D. Battenfield concluded

[Breitbart] Federal prosecutors announced that they had filed a terrorism related charge against a woman who is accused of getting grenades and being a key operator for Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG). The case is the first ever terror charge related to CJNG.
This week, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that they had charged 39-year-old Maria Del Rosario “Chayo” Navarro Sanchez with providing material support to a terrorist organization. The charge follows the February 20 designation of CJNG as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. Department of State.
“Cartels like CJNG are terrorist groups that wreak havoc in American communities and are responsible for countless lives lost in the United States, Mexico, and elsewhere,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a prepared statement.
Mexican authorities arrested Navarro earlier this month in the state of Jalisco. At the time of her arrest, Mexico’s top law enforcement official announced that U.S. authorities wanted her on several charges that included arms trafficking, human smuggling, drug trafficking, and others. The woman had a gold-plated rifle with her at the time of her arrest. It remains unclear if Navarro will face charges in Mexico or be extradited to the United States soon.
According to federal prosecutors, Chayo helped direct human smuggling operations for CJNG in West Texas, as well as drug and cash smuggling. The woman is credited with overseeing the operation of tunnels used for smuggling migrants.
The announcement of the terror charges against CJNG operators comes just days after the U.S.D.O.J. filed narco-terrorism charges against key leaders of the Beltran Leyva faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, Breitbart Texas reported. In that case, the cartel leaders are linked to the large-scale trafficking of fentanyl, the main drug behind thousands of overdose deaths in the United States. The Sinaloa Cartel is also a foreign terrorist organization in the United States.

[NYPOST] A massive Mexican navy tall ship on a goodwill visit to New York slammed into the Brooklyn Bridge late Saturday — toppling its huge masts in a horrifying scene that left two dead and 17 injured, including two critically, according to fire officials and sources.
The majestic Cuauhtémoc — which has a crew of 277, mostly cadets — apparently lost power as it was sailing out of New York on its way to Iceland and the current carried it into the road deck of the bridge around 8:30 p.m., according to Mayor Eric Adams and footage of the crash.
The collision sheared off the ship’s 147-foot masts – with alarming footage capturing numerous crew members dangling for their lives from the sails and booms after the boat hit the bridge, which has a max clearance of 135 feet.
Stray gamma rays erased the content of this post, comprised of an article from Regnum, from badanov, this NY Post link from Fred, and a Fox News link from Skidmark (I’ll add that in a moment).
— tw for the moderators at 10 a.m. EDT
“The boat was coming under the bridge, and there were sailors on top of the boat, the sails hit the bridge and then people were falling off of the boat sails,” said Elijah West, who witnessed the chilling crash at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
“It was crazy. We were standing under the bridge and we all started running. Then I saw people hanging from the sails. Police boats came around fast — about five minutes later. And then police guided the boat to the (Manhattan) bridge and started the rescue. It was a shock.”
Numerous onlookers stood by the shore with cameras and filmed the ship’s departure from numerous angles — and became alarmed as the tips of the masts toppled over one by one as they hit the bridge.
Retired navy Capt. Alfred S. McLaren called the tragic incident “inconceivable.”
“I’m dumbfounded,” the former nuclear submarine captain said.
“It could lose power and drift. So the question is just how fast were they going. But why didn’t they use a rudder one way or another? One of the first things I would have done is drop my anchor or anchors.”
The mutilated ship is currently idle in the water while emergency responders work at Pier 16 to care for the wounded. It’s expected to be moved to Pier 36, sources said.
Those in critical condition were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Officials have not released the names of the two crew members who died.
Fire officials warned motorists to expect traffic delays and road closures near New Dock Street & water Street in Brooklyn.
The bridge, which suffered minor damage, has since reopened to the public.
The vessel, built in Spain in 1982 with the sole purpose of training cadets, was in New York City as part of a promotion for next year’s Sail4th tall ship event, which celebrates America’s 250th birthday.
The stop is just the third in the vessel’s eight-month voyage around the globe, which offers the Mexican cadets the opportunity to flex their sailing muscles in environments like Jamaica, Iceland, Portugal and more.
This year’s class boasts 175 cadets, the largest class the nation’s navy has seen yet.
“The classes are getting bigger and bigger. We just keep getting more and more people!” said Lt. Sg. Hugo Calvario, the ship’s orthopedic surgeon.
“We had to leave almost 40% of the crew to take on more cadets,” he continued, meaning the trainees have to pick up the slack and take on more responsibilities.
The Post watched earlier this week as they skillfully climbed the dauntingly high ropes and stretched across the towers of the ship’s three masts to conduct what in English is known as “manning the yards” — a universal sign of respect that is done every time a ship enters a port.
It is expected to be one of 30 Class A International Tall Ships that will parade through the Harbor on July 4, 2026.
The Mexican navy released a statement after the wreck.
“During the sailing maneuver of the Cuauhtémoc sailboat in New York, a mishap occurred with the Brooklyn Bridge, causing damage to the training ship, preventing the continuation of the training cruise for the time being,” they said.
“The status of personnel and equipment is being reviewed by naval and local authorities, who are providing support,” the organization added. “The Navy reaffirms its commitment to personnel safety, transparency in its operations, and excellent training for future officers of the Mexican Navy.”
I think this is Skidmark’s Fox News link.

I suspect that, like everything else Mexican, their navy has a nepotism problem, which is just as bad as DEI: instead of being chosen strictly for the boxes they check off, people are hired and promoted based on who their relatives/patrons are. Either way, ability is selected against.

"One of the first things I would have done is drop my anchor or anchors.”"
That is actually a strategy. When I was in the Navy 50+ years ago, we were approaching the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel when we suddenly lost power. One of the bosuns quickly dropped the anchor. We stopped until power could be restored.

Specifically, New York — which has the most practicing doctors and healthcare workers, at 35,000 — is also one of 21 states that does not cap the level of payment for medical malpractice claims
Surprise, surprise, surprise.
Its a curse on both houses, lawyers and doctors. The medical establishment is basically absent in policing its own ranks. Professional courtesy? That leaves the lawyers to feast as the remaining means of redress.
#7
OBTW: I looked it up
According to a comprehensive study conducted by the American Medical Association (AMA), only about 1,000 doctors lose their medical licenses annually in the United States.
Given there are about 1,044,734 licensed physicians in the United States and District of Columbia. (2022 US Census count)
That works out to 0.095718% of the 1+ Million are the 3rd leading cause of death in the USA due to their mistakes.
Wouldn't that make the 0.095718% far deadlier than many dictators?

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] This is the incredible moment a Florida fisherman saved a young girl from drowning in a riptide by using a drone to drop a life preserver.
Andrew Smith, of Pensacola, was scouting the water off Fort Pickens Beach for sharks with his SwellPro Fisherman Max drone when he spotted a young girl, who was not identified, caught up in a riptide, Fox 4 Now reported.
'There was this girl screaming: "Can anybody swim?"' he recalled to the outlet.
Smith, who cannot swim, was desperate to help her when he noticed several life preservers on the beach on Thursday.
Using his drone, he grabbed one and flew it to the girl.
'I flew it out there and I missed really bad on the first drop,' he told Fox 10. 'A lady grabbed another one for me. I was pretty nervous, we flew it out there and we got it down to her.'
Video footage, shot by fellow beachgoer Robert Nay, showed Smith's second attempt of getting the floatation device down to her.
The drone can be seen dragging the device through heavy wind and gray skies as it drops to nearly water level for the girl to grab onto.
'She was way out there. If I didn’t get her with that one, I don’t know if she would have made it any longer,' Smith told Fox 10.
First responders arrived shortly after and were able to pull the girl to safety.
The young girl was swimming with two other girls when she got caught in the riptide, Nay wrote on Facebook.
A single red flag was flying on the beach that day, indicating that beachgoers should avoid going into the water.
No lifeguards are currently stationed at the beach and won't be until Memorial Day.
'[Smith] literally saved her life and bought time for fire and rescue to get there!' Nay said.
The fisherman's drone is designed to be used while fishing and has the ability to hold up to two life jackets.
'The drone has two releases on the bottom and can be used for fishing, and you can carry two life jackets on it and get to people fast. It has a camera on it too, so I could see the girl’s head on the camera,' he told the outlet.

[NYP] NYC Socialist mayoral wannabe Zohran Mamdani continued to offer a bizarre excuse Saturday about why he refused to sign a resolution denouncing the Holocaust, and blew off questions about skipping out on a separate resolution celebrating Israel’s 77th anniversary.
The pro-Palestine state Assemblyman from Queens parroted his staff’s response after the firestorm of criticism, insisting he didn’t sign the Holocaust resolution because he’s not co-sponsoring any resolutions in this year’s legislative session.
"This year at the beginning of the year, I told my staff that we would not co-sponsor any resolutions that came into our Assembly office, and that has nothing to do with the substance of the resolution. I’m proud to be a supporter of that resolution," the embattled lawmaker said leaving a mayoral candidate forum hosted by the United Federation of Teachers in Midtown.

After graduating from Bronx Science in New York City, he ended up at “almost-Ivy” Bowdoin, where he clearly majored in communist politics, taking up the profession as soon as he returned to The City, where he ran failing campaigns for a number of other socialists before getting it right for himself in 2021 He stands firmly for all the Democratic Socialists of America shibboleths except for that Shiite thing, which suggests Shiism is the thing that really matters to him — I can’t imagine his father, the colonialism professor, cares much for such old fashioned superstitions.
[ZERO] The progressive ideal is largely to blame for the monstrous creation that is ghetto culture. The idea that racial narcissism among blacks should not only be tolerated but celebrated has led to a surge in open animosity for societal rules and standards within the US. Far more than any other group, the black community makes up the largest share of physical crime according to their percentage of the population. This includes robbery, aggravated assault, and homicides.
For example, black Americans make up only 13% of the population but commit around 52% of all homicides according to FBI statistics. The recent case of Karmelo Anthony comes to mind, a black teen who admitted to stabbing a white teen and killing him because the white teen allegedly "pushed him" (which he argues was a threat that made deadly force justifiable).
The concept of "disrespect" as an offense that justifies murder is only one problem. There is an identifiable trend of theatrical sociopathy within the black community that goes far beyond the norm. The prevailing theory is that this is predominantly cultural - Black Americans have the highest rate of single parent households in the country (50% of black homes compared to 20% of white homes in 2023). Most of these households are run by single mothers. Single mother homes are a notorious indicator of future criminality among juveniles.

Based on the homicide solve rate in our cities, I don’t know how much we know about assailants.

The only way this shit stops is if the black community gets sick of it and actively pushes back against it. Stop promoting it, thinking it is special and making it a live goal. Shame and ostracize it and turn offenders in for long jail times.

In 1960, the difference was much smaller. Then the Great Society was initiated and government became the 'provider'. When the feminist indoctrinated females say 'who needs men', one only has to look to the anarchy of the inner city to see why. It's easier for the civilized to act barbarian than for a barbarian to act civilized.

[REGNUM] Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Colonel General Andrei Mordvichev as Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Russia. In this post, he replaced Oleg Salyukov, who was transferred to the post of Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia. Before this, Mordvichev headed the Central Military District and the "Center" group of troops in the SVO zone. Colonel General Valery Solodchuk was transferred to the post of commander.
The reshuffle in the Russian army command has sparked discussions in the media and social networks. The new commander is known in both Russian and foreign sources as one of the most successful military leaders in the Russian army, who planned and implemented a number of offensive operations. Thanks to his professional qualities, Mordvichev has received the nickname "Breakthrough General" on the Internet.
DEBUT IN TSKHINVALI, CHECKMATE IN MARIUPOL
Andrey Mordvichev was born in Pavlodar (present-day Kazakhstan). In 1997, he graduated from the Novosibirsk Higher Combined Arms Command School, and in 2006, from the Frunze Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces. During the "five-day war" in South Ossetia in 2008, Mordvichev commanded the 28th Motorized Rifle Brigade. In 2016, he completed courses at the Military Academy of the General Staff, which allowed him to occupy senior command positions in the future.
By the beginning of the SVO, Mordvichev commanded the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District, which took part in combat operations from the first days of the operation.
The first task that Mordvichev's 8th Army faced in the SVO zone was the liberation of Mariupol, which had been turned into a fortress city by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian army command concentrated large forces in the development and industrial zone, which were called upon if not to hold the city, then at least to tie down the advancing units of the Russian army. However, the Russian Armed Forces command was able to skillfully cut through the enemy's defense, isolating pockets of resistance, and subsequently crush the main group of troops, which had fortified itself in the Azovstal corps.
Frontline sources attribute the success of the operation to the competent planning carried out by Mordvichev's headquarters. During the fighting, the commander also went directly to the troops, getting on video and becoming one of the first "public" commanders of the Russian army.
Ukrainian sources recognized Mordvichev's talents as a commander and subsequently declared a full-fledged "hunt" for him. During the operation, the media and individual bloggers repeatedly reported on the general's "death" in Mariupol, Kherson and a number of settlements along the entire front line.
SUCCESS IN AVDEEVKA
The successful completion of the battles for Mariupol led to Mordvichev's appointment as commander of the Central Military District and the "Center" group of troops operating in Donbass. Here the military leader received the nickname "Breakthrough General". The troops operating under his command were tasked with pushing the enemy back from Donetsk and protecting the capital of the DPR from shelling by the Ukrainian army.
During the years of military action preceding the start of the SVO, Ukrainian troops created a powerful line of defense based on industrial zones located north and east of Donetsk. The northern suburb of Donetsk, Avdiivka and the industrial zone of the Avdeevka Coke Plant acquired key importance.
As previously in Mariupol, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command planned, if not to hold, then at least to halt the Russian army’s advance, preserving a vital bridgehead for a possible counteroffensive.
However, the command of the Russian group "Center" planned an operation that allowed them to avoid a "frontal" assault on the enemy's defense line.
Instead, Russian troops bypassed Avdeevka from the east, and then broke through the enemy's front line between the city and the industrial zone buildings. This led to the fragmentation of the enemy's defense. The Ukrainian Armed Forces units transferred to this section of the front suffered heavy losses and were unable to cover the retreat of the Avdeevka garrison, which turned into a rout.
When retreating from Avdeevka, the enemy command “forgot” individual fighters and entire units in the city, which remained in the positions they held, completely surrounded.
"Duel" with Drapati
Since the loss of Avdeevka in February 2024, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have repeatedly attempted to stabilize the front line northwest of Donetsk by building a more or less coherent line of defense. However, the forces of the Center group have constantly thwarted the enemy's attempts to create new defensive nodes.
Under the command of General Mordvichev, the troops liberated Ocheretino, Selidovo, Ukrainsk and Kurakhovo, breaking through to Pokrovsk. For the successful planning and implementation of a number of offensive operations in March 2024, Colonel General Mordvichev was awarded the Hero of Russia star.
Here, the Ukrainian command once again tried to stabilize the front line, expecting that Russian troops would run into the defensive line and stop advancing. In the future, the Ukrainian military could draw the advancing troops into protracted urban battles.
However, the command of the group once again "did not live up to" Kyiv's expectations, refusing to conduct a frontal assault on the dense residential area and industrial zone. Instead, the Russian army encircled the city from both the east and west, encircling Pokrovsk and hanging over the supply routes of the Ukrainian group of troops.
Here Mordvichev "met" with one of the best tacticians of the Ukrainian Armed Forces - Mikhail Drapatiy. As the commander of the ground forces of the Ukrainian army, Drapatiy was sent to Pokrovsk in January 2025 with the aim of organizing a counteroffensive and pushing back the forces of the Russian group "Center". However, this "duel" ended with the victory of the Russian strategy.
In a number of directions, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to penetrate the defense of the Center group, but this is where "Drapatogo's counteroffensive" stopped. On the contrary, the Russian Armed Forces were able to wear down the enemy in battles and by May of this year restore the "status quo". In many ways, this became possible thanks to Mordvichev's skillful planning.
"AUTHOR'S HANDWRITING"
Sources on both sides of the front note that when planning offensive operations, the Center group repeatedly used the same strategic technique. Without engaging in protracted assaults on fortified positions, General Mordvichev's troops probed for a weak spot in the enemy's defense, broke through the front line, and broke through to the enemy's supply routes.
Thus, Ukrainian troops were faced with a choice time and again: to continue to defend while surrounded or to retreat again and again. The success of such tactics was largely due to the widespread use of mobile infantry and armored units, overcoming the "gray zone" and breaking right into enemy positions. Sources note that Mordvichev's headquarters repeatedly resorted to such bold and unconventional decisions. In this sense, it can be noted that the forces of the Central Military District fell into reliable hands.
The new commander, Colonel General Valeriy Solodchuk, is also known for his unconventional moves. From the first days of the special operation, the general led the 36th Army of the Eastern Military District, which took part in the battles near Kiev. Subsequently, he was appointed deputy commander of the Central Military District and led the Russian army group in the Kursk region. Characteristically, the Ukrainian media also repeatedly "buried" Solodchuk, who, despite this, continued to command the troops. In particular, the forces entrusted to him were able to stabilize the situation on the front in the Kremennaya area during the enemy counteroffensive in the fall of 2022 - winter of 2023.
Subsequently, he also led the Kursk group of troops, which was able to liberate the region, including thanks to a daring breakthrough deep into the enemy's defenses through a gas pipeline. There is no doubt that under the leadership of the new commander, the Center group of troops will present the enemy with new tactical "surprises."
RESTRUCTURING IN COMMAND?
A number of Russian sources link the transfer of the commander of the ground forces Oleg Salyukov and the appointment of Andrei Mordvichev to his position with the process of modernization of the Russian army. Some assume that in the foreseeable future Mordvichev will be able to take a higher position in the General Staff or the Ministry of Defense. Others believe that the new commander is called upon to "disperse" the old personnel and create fundamentally new ground forces.
However, the appointment of a new commander can in fact be considered a consequence of the natural course of events, military expert and reserve officer Alexander Mikhailovsky noted in an interview with IA Regnum. "With all due respect to Oleg Leonidovich (Salyukov. - editor's note), in our time of new technologies, new approaches to planning combat operations, an infusion of "fresh blood" is necessary. Mordvichev is young for a commander, he is 49 years old, he is familiar with modern approaches in practice and will now implement them. Any reasoning on the topic of the previous leadership and someone's "disgrace" is, rather, some kind of speculation," the expert notes.
However, in general, both domestic and Western sources agree that in the person of Colonel General Andrei Mordvichev, the ground forces have received an experienced and competent commander who will have to transform practical experience into new concepts concerning both the use of ground forces on the battlefield and their staffing and preparation for military action in the conditions of modern warfare.

[Regnum] On May 17, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed one of the Hezbollah commanders in southern Lebanon, who, according to the Israeli military, was engaged in restoring the organization's infrastructure. This was stated in a statement by the army press service.
"Earlier on Saturday, the IDF struck and killed a Hezbollah commander in the Shaqif region in the Gamgim area (south of the city of Tyre - Ed.) in Lebanon. The terrorist was involved in rebuilding Hezbollah's terrorist infrastructure in the area," the statement said.
The Israeli army noted that the restoration of terrorist infrastructure is a gross violation of the ceasefire agreements between Israel and Lebanon.
As reported by Regnum, the IDF had previously announced the elimination of Hezbollah commanders following a tip from religious singer Mohammad Hadi Saleh. Hassan Beir, a commander of one of Hezbollah's border units, was killed. The Israelis received his coordinates after he attended Saleh's charity concert.
Hassan's son Ali, who was also his father's deputy, was killed along with him. The unit entrusted to them lost its combat capability for some time, which was taken advantage of by the Israeli forces advancing in southern Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Force said Saturday that it killed a Hezbollah commander in a drone strike in Lebanon in Beaufort Castle area. Local authorities also confirmed one person had been killed.
The operative, who was targeted on a road near Mazraat Jemjim — some 30 kilometers from the Israeli border — in the Tyre District, was the commander of Hezbollah’s forces in the Beaufort Castle area, the military said.
An Israeli drone strike targeted a car Saturday on the road of the southern town of al-Zrariyeh in the Tyre district, killing one person.
Earlier in the day, an Israeli quadcopter dropped a bomb on an agricultural vehicle in the southern town of al-Dhayra, as an Israeli strike targeted a prefab room and a stone factory in the border town of Yarin.
An Israeli drone had bombed a hangar in the southern town of Aita al-Shaab at dawn, causing no casualties.

[Regnum] Romanian investigative bodies believe that former presidential candidate Calin Georgescu was preparing a coup after the court annulled his victory in the first round of elections in December 2024. This was reported on May 17 by the Politico newspaper, citing case materials.
Georgescu reportedly gathered his comrades at a horse base near Bucharest. Horatiu Potra, who allegedly led a group of mercenaries, was also there. According to the newspaper, the group planned to organize unrest in order to seize power.
It is not known what exactly Georgescu discussed with his supporters at the equestrian base. One of its owners testified that the meeting was tense.
"I realized that their discussions could be somehow connected with the cancellation of the elections. This assumption was supported by their behavior. When I entered the room, they suddenly fell silent," the newspaper quoted the witness as saying.
According to the newspaper, during the searches Potra was found to have hidden weapons and more than €3 million in cash. An international arrest warrant was issued in his name, accusing him of attempting to violate the constitutional order. He was abroad at the time. Both Georgescu and Potra deny the charges, and their lawyers said the authorities were persecuting the former presidential candidate for political reasons.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Constitutional Court of Romania in December 2024 overturned Georgescu's victory in the first round of the presidential elections. The reason given was the large number of complaints. The politician called this step a coup d'état.
New elections for the President of Romania were scheduled for May 2025. Georgescu submitted documents to participate in them, but the Central Electoral Bureau rejected his candidacy, stating that the documents he submitted allegedly did not comply with legal requirements.
The first round of new elections took place on May 4, and was won by a far-right candidate, the head of the Alliance for the Unification of Romanians, George Simion. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted that Romanian citizens were deprived of the right to vote for the candidate they wanted, since the favorite was thrown out of the process.

The EU are the ones who stepped in to put a stop to this.
Russia meddled in the election and Georgescu was ready to split NATO in half and stop aid to Ukraine. He's a traitor, 86 him.

"We know Russia interfered in the election because we did not like the outcome. Besides, Georgescu is one of those right-wing populist candidates and we all know what *those* people are like."

[Regnum] Turkey has discovered a large gas field in the Black Sea, the fuel reserves are preliminarily estimated at $30 billion. This was announced on May 17 by the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Just what the world needs: a neo-Ottoman sultanate with money, instead of living on the charity of former subject Arabian territories.
"A new gas field has been discovered in the Black Sea at the Goktepe-3 well. The volume is 75 billion cubic meters, the economic value is $30 billion," he said, speaking in Istanbul.
According to the head of the Turkish state, this field will be able to provide local households for three and a half years.
Only temporarily wealthy? That’s ok, then.
In addition, Erdogan said that work on the Goktepe-3 well was completed at a depth of 3.5 thousand meters.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Erdogan expressed interest in implementing strategic joint projects in the energy sector. During the phone call, the leaders also expressed mutual interest in further expanding trade and investment ties.
In early May, the Turkish leader announced that the construction of the first reactor of the Akkuyu NPP, under the management of the subsidiary of the state corporation Rosatom, JSC Akkuyu Nuclear, would soon be completed. According to him, the nuclear power plant is scheduled to reach full capacity in 2028, which will reduce natural gas imports by 7 billion cubic meters per year and save $2.5 billion.

[REGNUM] On May 16, long-awaited direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations took place in Istanbul—the first in almost three years.
The idea of continuing the negotiation process belonged to Vladimir Putin - the Russian president had previously proposed holding them on May 15. However, the Kiev regime dragged its feet for a long time - demanding that Putin personally come to Istanbul for a meeting with Zelensky.
And when it became clear that the Russian leader would not give in to Ukrainian wishes (the head of state's aide, Vladimir Medinsky, was appointed head of the Russian delegation ), and US President Donald Trump would not approve of the breakdown of the negotiations, Zelensky had to send a delegation to Istanbul after all.
“American representatives explained to the Ukrainian side before the start of bilateral negotiations with Russia that they should not make further meetings impossible, since Trump wants to present the start of bilateral negotiations as his own success,” Dmitry Suslov, deputy director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, explains to Regnum.
Thus, the negotiations began according to Russia's scenario - and continued in exactly the same way. Thus, the parties agreed on another prisoner exchange.
The Kiev regime, of course, insisted on an exchange on the principle of “all for all” (knowing full well that the number of captured Ukrainian soldiers in Russian captivity is many times greater than the number of Russians in Ukrainian captivity), but the position of the Russian delegation was adamant: strictly on the principle of “one for one.”
In the end, it was decided to exchange a thousand for a thousand - and this is the largest exchange in the entire history of the SVO. Now, in all likelihood, the parties will agree on the lists. And for this alone it was possible to meet - after all, for Russia, the most important thing has always been people, and after the exchange, a thousand Russian soldiers will return home.
Another positive point is that negotiations took place at all and that they will continue, tentatively in June.
"The most important thing is that neither side called them a failure, nor declared that continuing them was pointless. On the contrary, the negotiations were called expedient. This means that a long-term Russian-Ukrainian process was initiated in Istanbul," Dmitry Suslov explains to Regnum News Agency.
After all, we should not forget that, despite the West's explicit and implicit participation in the conflict, the peace agreement will be signed only and exclusively between Russia and Ukraine. These are the rules of the classic Cold War "conflicts on the periphery", which is what the West considers the Ukrainian war to be.
But there was no progress after that. And there couldn't have been.
Thus, the Kiev regime insists on an immediate ceasefire. In fact, even before the negotiations began, its head stated that the delegation sent had a mandate to discuss only one single topic: a 30-day truce.
Russia, both before and during the negotiations, views this proposal as meaningless. "War and negotiations always go hand in hand in history," said Vladimir Medinsky.
Yes, during the negotiations Moscow did not remove this issue from the agenda. "We agreed that each side would present its vision of a possible future ceasefire. It would spell it out in detail," Medinsky said. However, this does not mean that the Russian side made any real concessions here.
“The agreement that each side will present its vision of a ceasefire does not mean that this ceasefire will come soon,” explains Dmitry Suslov.
Moreover, the Russian vision has allegedly already been presented - according to Sky News, Moscow has demanded that the Kiev regime withdraw all its troops from Russian constitutional territories. That is, from those cities in the Kherson, Zaporizhia regions and Donbass that Ukraine is currently occupying.
Western media, citing their sources, generally emphasize that the Russian side behaved quite harshly during the negotiations. For example, Vladimir Medinsky allegedly spoke about his readiness to bring the SVO to a victorious end, no matter how long it takes.
"We don't want war, but we are prepared to fight for a year, two, three - however long it takes. We fought Sweden for 21 years. How long are you prepared to fight?" - British journalists write.
However, this toughness was predictable in a good sense. Vladimir Medinsky's delegation did not try to disrupt anything or insult anyone, and did not strive to put on a show at the event.
It merely reminded of the clear and unchanging demands, voiced more than once by Vladimir Putin: about the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops for the conclusion of an “immediate truce,” and about the readiness to continue the SVO as long as it takes to resolve all the key problems of the Ukrainian conflict – that is, changing the Russophobic nature of the Kyiv regime and protecting Russian citizens.
And only after Russian demands are accepted or at least real work begins on them, will it be possible to move negotiations to some higher level.
Yes, the Kiev regime wants to transfer him. "The Ukrainian side has requested direct negotiations between the heads of state," Medinsky said. And immediate ones.
"The next stage should be a meeting of the leaders," said the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. However, it is not Umerov or Zelensky, but only Putin who will decide with whom, when and where to meet.
And at the moment he has nothing to talk about with Zelensky - either literally or figuratively.

[Regnum] The Palestinian movement Hamas called on participants in the Arab League summit in Baghdad to impose sanctions against Israel. Representatives of the movement reported this on social networks. There will be lots of indignant talk, and probably some mustache cursing, but in the end too many of them need Israel to stand between them and Iraq’s nukes.
“We call for fulfilling our historic role and taking practical steps to stop Israeli aggression against Gaza and lift the blockade on it, and we also demand that Arab countries and the entire international community immediately impose sanctions on Israel,” the statement said.
The movement also demanded that the Israeli authorities be condemned “as war criminals,” since “hundreds of people are dying and being injured” in Gaza.
As reported by Regnum, on May 7, the Al Jazeera television channel stated that at least 66 people were killed in just one day as a result of the IDF attacks on the Gaza Strip. Dozens of civilians were injured, and several areas of the enclave, including refugee camps, were subjected to bombing and artillery shelling.
On May 1, Gaza Health Director General Munir al-Barash called on the UN to declare the enclave a famine zone. According to him, about 91% of residents face critical food shortages, and another 65% do not have access to clean drinking water.
On May 16, the chairman of the council of imams of Kizlyar and the Kizlyar region, Muhammadhabib Magomedov, reported that five volunteers of the Dagestani charity foundation Insan were killed as a result of the bombing of the Jabaliya camp in the Gaza Strip. According to him, the volunteers were distributing money to those in need when the tragedy occurred.

[Regnum] The Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka twice in one day ejected ash columns to a height of eight and eight and a half kilometers above sea level
Global cooling, here we come! Or anyway, a cooking component added to the equation in addition to the effect of the solar magnetic storms and everything else, both positive and negative.
. This was reported by the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"In the morning, explosions raised ash from the Shiveluch volcano eight kilometers above sea level. The plume extended 200 kilometers to the northeast of the volcano. Later, another ash emission occurred at a height of eight and a half kilometers above sea level. The plume extended 35 kilometers to the north-northeast of the volcano," the report says.
The volcano's activity poses a serious threat to local and international air travel. Shiveluch is located 50 kilometers north of the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky district and 450 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Kamchatka Territory also reported that if the wind changes, there remains a possibility of ash fall in populated areas of the Ust-Kamchatsky, Bystrinsky, Milkovsky and Tigilsky districts, as well as the Yelizovsky and Karaginsky districts.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, the highest active volcano in Eurasia, Klyuchevskaya Sopka, began erupting in Kamchatka on April 21. The aviation hazard code for Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano was changed from green to yellow. This code is the second of four and indicates risks for small aircraft. If the volcano's activity continues to increase, it could affect low-flying aircraft.
Earlier, the Bezymyanny volcano began erupting in Kamchatka. Satellite data showed a bright thermal glow in the crater that lasted for several minutes. At 10:30 local time on April 21 (01:30 Moscow time), explosions raised ash from the Bezymyanny volcano 4,000 meters above sea level. The ash plume stretched 36 km west of the volcano.
The volcanic eruption continues. Volcanologists noted that an ash plume up to 10-15 km above sea level can be expected at any time. The volcano's activity is dangerous for local air travel, and an orange hazard code (increased probability of eruption) has been declared.
Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.
[ColonelCassad] As a supplement to the post of our dear comrade MultXama regarding the events taking place on the Konstantinovka-Chasov Yar front:
While the heat of battle in the remaining quarters of Chasov Yar under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces does not subside, and the enemy is attempting counterattacks (two days ago there was another attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on this section, the enemy got it in the neck and retreated), units of the Russian Armed Forces are beginning to terrorize the enemy in the Konstantinovka area ( https://t.me/genshtab24/87100 ) - a major logistics hub of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, located southwest of Chasov Yar.
The occupation of the commanding heights in Chasov Yar and its environs by the Russian Army allows control over the roads of Konstantinovka, which are used to deliver personnel, ammunition and medicine to the Ukrainian Armed Forces units located on two sections of the front - in Toretsk and in the remaining quarters of Chasov Yar.
Fiber optic drones, which proved themselves excellent during the counter-terrorist operation in the Kursk region, are being used en masse by the Russian Armed Forces to destroy military equipment dispersed in Konstantinovka.
Today, the enemy, perfectly understanding the situation, is in a hurry to stop this phenomenon and is urgently starting to prepare the city for defense, simultaneously installing the so-called "anti-drone networks" on the main roads in order to prevent a repeat of the "Kursk scenario" - let us recall that thanks to the coordinated and competent actions of the UAV crews of the "North" Group of Forces, it was possible to destroy 70 percent of the logistics of the enemy's "Kursk" group, which, together with Operation Potok, contributed to the rapid breakthrough of the Russian Armed Forces and the subsequent destruction of the enemy in the tactical direction.
As for the main logistics route of the Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison in Chasov Yar, passing through Konstantinovka, this is, first of all, the road through the settlement. Novodmitrovka (🔼48.546136, 37.731751) and Stenki (🔼48.578126, 37.740420). From the above-mentioned settlements, there is a branching through the settlements of Podolskoye (🔼48.572345, 37.770074), Chervone (🔼48.564056, 37.782391) and Nikolaevka (🔼48.576275, 37.795609), and the last settlement in the current reality acts as "zero" for units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to send fighters to the remaining quarters of Chasy Yar. The enemy's foot logistics routes pass through the forest regiments to the west of Chasy Yar and go towards the settlement. Verolyubovka (🔼48.610223, 37.719906), from where you can also drive through the fields towards Kramatorsk.
In fact, the enemy in Chasov Yar now has a part of Dneprovskaya Street, 0.18 km² on the western outskirts of Chasov Yar (the private sector of the city, the battles for which are going on with varying success and actually represent the principle of "drive the enemy into the basement") and, if you count the Shevchenko microdistrict, located to the south of the urban development and representing a private sector and several small forest areas), then in total the enemy has about 10 km², but the main heights are under the control of the Russian Armed Forces and the fate of the garrison and reinforcements of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has already been predetermined.
Separately, it is worth noting the "air" situation in the area - the enemy has brought in a huge number of hexacopter-type UAVs "Baba Yaga" and is trying with all its might to stop the advance of the Russian Armed Forces. The quality of the infantry of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has declined, but the "unmanned" units continue to saturate the area with their drones, so the overall situation "in the air" remains difficult, but controllable.
P.S., Multiham is currently publishing an excellent analysis of the Donetsk direction. As soon as all the posts are published, I will collect them in bulk into one publication for LJ.
[LawEnforcementToday] While leftist politicians, activists, and media mouthpieces like to claim that it is the right that is violent, citing the so-called "insurrection" at the US Capitol on January 6. What the left ignores is the vast amount of violence undertaken by those on the political left, such as the 2020 "summer of love," up to the more recent attack on everything Tesla. What leftists are doing is called "projecting," or transferring their own attributes to others, in this case, the conservative right.
Research, however, clearly disputes the contention that violence comes from the right or is even embraced by the right.
Research conducted jointly by Rutgers University and the Network Contagion Research Institute, or NCRI (which tracks digital threats), confirms that fact, according to the New American.
In the study, titled "Assassination Culture: How Burning Teslas and Killing Billionaires Became a Meme Aesthetic for Political Violence," Rugers and NCRI post the following introduction:
"Political violence targeting figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk is becoming increasingly normalized, particularly among politically left-leaning segments of the population. Following the attempted assassination of President Trump on July 13, 2024, tolerance and even advocacy for such violence seem to have surged.
So, I wonder who the Left's next targets will be, and what will the created reason that LSD MSM will try to spin?

The Left doesn't believe in tolerating intolerance.
They come right out and say that movements from the right must be eliminated at the moment of thought while movements from the left be granted unlimited tolerance, including violence.
They're consistent.
[RedState] LA County Sheriff Luna Highlights His Rancid Leadership at Hearing, Gutting Department by 24 Percent
It is no secret now that California is hostile towards law enforcement. Their soft-on-crime policies and laws have made it incredibly hard to do the job, let alone live in the state, without worrying about getting victimized. But now, with recent numbers being publicly disclosed, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is admitting that they have a problem. At Thursday's Civilian Oversight Committee hearing, Assistant Sheriff Jason Skeen reported to the committee that the department has 4,166 vacancies on the department.
Skeen laid it out plain for the Committee: things are not okay:
“For every three people, they have to do the duties of one additional person,” Skeen said.
Sheriff Robert Luna is quite literally killing his department, throwing his deputies under the bus, putting bogus and/or embellished cases on them; some families would even say that his policies and poor leadership led to the suicides of some, and murders of others.
Since Luna took the reins on the department, there have been 12 current or former deputies and custody assistants who have committed suicide; Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer was murdered in an ambush killing outside of his patrol station. Additionally, Deputy Alfredo “Freddy” Flores was tragically killed in a mobile range explosion that was arguably preventable. The range that blew up was over 20 years old and had been retired, but was put back into service because the department lacked the money to fix the newer one.
These are just some of the glaring examples of Luna's rancid leadership, and after today, the numbers do not lie. The LASD is running at roughly 75 percent staffing levels, and every employee is doing double, if not triple, the amount of work. Overtime levels are off the charts; some deputies are working 2, 3, sometimes 4 shifts of overtime every single week. If you add that up, these deputies are working at least one additional week's worth of shifts a month.
My local Sheriff's station has roughly 135 patrol deputy positions, with only 90 of them being filled. And speaking with an LAPD officer on the condition of anonymity, they say that by year's end, the department is on pace to drop to 8,400 officers or fewer. These are numbers not seen since the '80s.
To be clear, a department that, when fully staffed, is just over 17,000 people, with 8,000-10,000 of those being sworn personnel, is now running at under 13,000 people; there is a huge problem. Most of those vacancies are sworn staff, and those people have either been willingly quitting or retiring early, or have been forcibly removed, either by firing or taking medical retirement. Deputies do not want to work for Luna or any of his people anymore. The leadership is beyond toxic, and it is displaying plainly now.
Sheriff Luna is not showing any signs of remorse, regret, or any other emotion that would tell his people that he may have made some mistakes. No, he seems to think he is doing just fine, and lies openly and proudly to his deputies that he supports them. Luna is the anti-cop; he pleases and serves his masters on the LA County Board of Supervisors first and foremost. He has taken a stance that every deputy sheriff fears: he fires them first and then asks for forgiveness.

At some point, we must recognize that the Democratic Party is a criminal enterprise, spanning the period of pre-Civil War to the present. I have no idea how to deal with this.

I think that’s a brilliant idea. He’ll suck up donor money, suck the oxygen out of the room, then lose devastatingly. How much more fun can we have for free?

Newsom has been considering a presidential run since he was in kindergarten. If he does a poll, he’ll find that he’ll carry the same states that Kamala did. The nation does not love lib CA politicians.

[Regnum] A magnetic storm began on Earth on May 17 and will last until May 19. This was reported by Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center
"The solar wind began to influence the Earth's space weather last night. After midnight, the resulting change in the configuration of the components of the interplanetary magnetic field caused weak disturbances in the Earth's magnetosphere, and closer to the morning they intensified to the level of an average magnetic storm of class G2," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to the forecast of specialists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the geomagnetic field will be in a weakly disturbed state with periodic weak magnetic storms in the next two days.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, a strong magnetic storm began on the Earth on April 16. According to meteorologist Evgeny Tishkovets, two huge solar prominences reached the planet and struck the magnetosphere. The cosmic impact caused a powerful magnetic storm, which can seriously affect the health of weather-sensitive people.
A less powerful magnetic storm was recorded on April 5. The level of magnetic disturbances reached 5.67 units. This level is higher than weak and slightly lower than average.
Earlier, Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the Pushkov Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation of the Russian Academy of Sciences, recalled that a magnetic storm is accompanied by a change in atmospheric pressure. Therefore, people who depend on it may experience a deterioration in their health. But the negative impact of magnetic storms should not be exaggerated.

[Regnum] A storm warning has been issued in the Rostov Region. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in the region.
“In some places on the Don from 14:00 to 16:00 Moscow time, then until the end of May 17, and also during the day of May 18, heavy showers with thunderstorms, hail and winds up to 20–23 m/s are expected,” the report says.
Tomorrow, Sunday, May 18, there will also be severe thunderstorms in some places in the region.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations called on citizens to be careful and call rescuers if necessary.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, a storm warning has been issued in Chukotka due to strong winds and ground blizzards. The Ministry of Emergency Situations recommended not to leave children unattended and not to travel outside of populated areas. Also, in strong winds, it is dangerous to be near dilapidated structures.
At the end of April, a high alert regime was introduced in Omsk due to strong winds with gusts of up to 25 m/s and higher. City residents were urged to stay indoors if possible and, when walking, to choose a route away from old trees, advertising structures and dilapidated buildings, and not to park cars in potentially dangerous places.
[FoxNews] Rose Docherty, 74, was arrested for standing outside a clinic with a sign reading: 'Coercion is a crime, here to talk if you want.'
A grandmother in the U.K. who was arrested for holding a sign outside an abortion clinic is sounding the alarm against further attacks on free speech as lawmakers move to expand so-called "buffer zones" outside such facilities.
Rose Docherty, 74, was arrested in Glasgow, Scotland near the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in February for holding a sign that read: "Coercion is a crime, here to talk if you want."
Docherty was the first person to be arrested and charged under the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Act, which went into effect in September, the BBC reported.
The law prohibits any protests or vigils from taking place within 200m or 656ft of 30 clinics offering abortion services in Scotland, but the law specifies that the Safe Access Zone could be extended if considered appropriate.
Docherty’s arrest came just days after Vice President JD Vance highlighted the law as an example of free speech being under attack in the U.K.
Now, Gillian Mackay, the Green Party parliamentarian responsible for introducing the buffer zones legislation, has now suggested that the Scottish government consider expanding the area of prohibition on "influence" outside hospitals, according to ADF International, a Christian legal advocacy group.
Docherty has rejected a formal warning from the Crown Office - arguing that it was "unjust" - and is waiting to find out what action may now be taken against her.
In her first broadcast interview since her arrest, she told the BBC she had "no reason to regret" the incident, noting it was an "alarming" and "surreal" experience.
She said she had read the law and believed her actions did not violate the legislation.
"I gave consideration to what I was doing…I looked at the law and saw what it said I couldn’t do, and thought, OK, well, this is what I can do…I can offer to listen, and if anyone wants to come and speak to me, they can do so, only if they want to come and speak with me," she told BBC’s Scotcast.
She said she is prepared to go to prison over the offense.
Docherty has also said that the government essentially wants to stamp out any opposition to abortion.
"I believe it wouldn’t matter where we stood…it wouldn’t matter how far they pushed the ‘buffer zone,’" she told ADF International, a Christian legal advocacy group.
AG Pam Bondi is reportedly poised to charge Alejandro Mayorkas with treason for deliberately allowing 20 million illegals to flood our nation, a disgraceful betrayal that undermines America’s sovereignty.

[Regnum] Russian President Vladimir Putin has established the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the legendary commander Alexander Suvorov in 2030. The corresponding decree appeared on May 17 on the website of the official publication of legal acts.
“Considering the significant contribution of the legendary commander A. V. Suvorov to strengthening the power of the Russian state and in connection with the upcoming 300th anniversary of his birth, I decree: to accept the proposal of the Government of the Russian Federation to celebrate the 300th anniversary of A. V. Suvorov’s birth in 2030,” the document says.
It is specified that the government must convene an organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the celebration, and approve the plan of events, within six months. At the same time, the authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local governments, public associations, and scientific and educational organizations are recommended to take part in the preparation and holding of these events.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on April 29, the Russian president announced that over 10 federal laws on the protection of history had been adopted in the country in recent years. Thus, new days of military glory were established in honor of the Crimean offensive operation in 1944, the Battle of Leningrad, and the procedure for protecting cultural heritage sites became clearer.
Putin also proposed the idea of creating a commission of the Russian Federation and Belarus to preserve historical memory and protect the truth about the Great Patriotic War. On September 5, 2023, he also voiced a proposal to create a National Center for Historical Memory.
[DesertSun] An explosion that rocked downtown Palm Springs Saturday morning was an “intentional act of terrorism” that has left one person dead and at least four people injured, FBI Akil Davis, assistant director of the Los Angeles FBI field office, said Saturday evening.
Davis said this is "one of the largest bombing investigations we've had in Southern California," comparing it to the scale of the Aliso Viejo bombing in Orange County in 2018. He said, "We have a person of interest in this investigation, but we are not actively out searching for a suspect."
Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills said it appears to be "an isolated incident," and "I am confident that the community is not at risk any longer."
The percussive boom was heard and felt across Palm Springs at 10:52 a.m. and was initially reported to be a car explosion near the American Reproductive Centers clinic on North Indian Canyon Drive at East Tachevah Drive. Police declined to comment on whether the explosion was caused by a bomb.
While several buildings were damaged, some severely, the fertility clinic reported on social media that all staff are safe, and no eggs or embryos were damaged. Read the rest at the link
"Terrorism came knocking on the door of Palm Springs," Miles said during a news conference Saturday night. "We survived, and I can tell you that this city will rise and be more and be more effective as a beacon of hope than before."
[DESOTOCOUNTYNEWS] The DeSoto County District Attorney's Office has announced that an illegal alien, Jiver Alejandro Melo Dominguez, of Mexico has been indicted by a DeSoto County Grand Jury for attempted murder. Dominguez, age 19, was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday, May 16.
''This is yet another troubling example of wide-open border policies,'' said District Attorney Matthew Barton. ''This criminal should never have been here. But don't worry — we're going to secure a swift conviction and immediately turn him over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, where I hope Secretary Kristi Noem and Tom Homan can make room for him in El Salvador Prison.''
Charging documents allege that on March 5, during a construction project in Hernando, Dominguez allegedly attempted to kill another man by slicing his neck with an Orcon box knife. The indictment also notes that Dominguez had recently traveled from reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... to Memphis prior to the attack.
Dominguez was arrested by Hernando Police Department and remains in DeSoto County Adult Detention Center.
[NATIONALREVIEW] Newly released audio from then-President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass.... 's lengthy interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur captures Biden's diminished mental acuity in his failure to recall the year his son Beau passed away, the year his vice presidency ended, the year President Donald Trump ...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons... was first elected, and why he possessed certain classified documents.
Biden's long pauses and incoherent ramblings in response to light questioning from Hur are apparent in over four minutes of audio first reported by Axios on Friday night. The partial release fulfills expectations that the Trump administration would finally disclose the long-anticipated interview tape after Biden's administration obstructed its disclosure at every turn.
Mistakenly, Biden said in the interview that his son Beau died in 2017 and had to be reminded that he passed away in 2015. Biden also said Trump was first elected in 2017 and had to be corrected that Trump won the presidency in 2016.
''OK, yeah. In 2017, Beau had passed and — this is personal — the genesis of the book and the title Promise Me, Dad, was a — I know you're all close with your sons and daughters, but Beau was like my right arm and Hunt was my left,'' Biden said at one point in the interview audio, with lengthy pauses peppered throughout.
Biden also can be heard stumbling over his words and whispering throughout the audio, two aspects of the interview the transcripts fail to fully capture. Biden struggled to explain why he possessed classified documents, and he veered into rambling, storytelling territory about his decision not to run for president in 2016. Hur interviewed Biden over the course of two three-hour-long sessions on October 8 and 9, 2023.

Biden’s mental capacity was severely compromised. It is obvious everyone around him knew the problem. We all saw it even before he took office and the answer to the question is the same today as we discussed in 2020, 2021 and beyond. These tapes only confirm what we already… https://t.co/qSKhMfUPYK
The State Dept was being run by Tony Blinken, Victoria Nuland and Samantha Power. The Clinton and Obama networks, along with their allies in congress and in various political organizations, were being paid and financed through various NGOs and stood up non-profits organized by the beneficiaries of the funding. All of those connections were revealed by the DOGE audits of USAID and other agencies.
Keep in mind that Susan Rice was part of the White House network up to the day Biden announced his intent to run again in 2024; so, she obviously knew his mental state. Others in the White House, again part of the Obama and Clinton networks were running the day-to-day operations. Biden was a figurehead, an avatar for the handlers operating in the background.
The DOJ, Main Justice and the FBI were being run by Lisa Monaco, again an Obama operative. The job at Main Justice was to use their Lawfare strategy to protect the fake and corrupt administration, keep everyone in line and attack all of their political opposition.
Obviously, Jill Biden was/is a power-hungry enabler for the entire dynamic. Sick and twisted people operate like this. Think of all the COVID-19 nonsense this crew carried out in 2021 and 2022, including the vaccine mandate and all of the authoritarian rules that came with the “Biden” COVID response stuff. These are sick people.
Congress, both parties, knew all of this. In fact, the entire Washington DC system was well aware of the cognitive state of mind behind the false presidency.
Biden wasn’t in control of anything – that’s transparently obvious when you listen to the tapes.
The media covered for all of it. They all knew, yet they attacked anyone who dare question the obvious. There is no one associated with the preceding four or five years around the 2020 campaign and administration that followed who did not know of the mental issues. Additionally, they all knew who was running things and they lied to the American people because these are power-hungry psychopaths.
[NYPOST] At least 21 people were killed in Kentucky and Missouri after devastating tornadoes and severe storms battered parts of the Midwest and South — and officials warned Saturday that the corpse count is only expected to rise.

''Kentucky, we're starting today with the tough news that we lost at least 14 of our people to last night's storms, but sadly, this number is expected to grow as we receive more information,'' Beshear said in a statement on X.
